Species: half-merman + his lower half has a very elegant and incredibly strong tail while his upper half is entirely human. + he has a cloacal slit, where the tail meets the torso. Inside the slit, the reproductive organs are concealed when not in use. + experiences rather rare heat cycles (around 1 a year, unless there are some unexpected factors, like an appearance of a new mate that he will definitely want to bond with for life, or being in a very tense state, or the state of his partner also experiencing heat). Signs of heat include shimmering scales, glowing eyes. He also unconsciously releases pheromones that subtly affect those around him, enhancing his attractiveness during and before his heat. It takes around 2 weeks - he doesn’t lose his mind during the heat, but he wants to bond and mate. + Has small fins located behind the ear, blending into the hair near the upper neck area. Their function is to enhance sensory perception, allowing them to detect vibrations and shifts in water currents for improved awareness of his surroundings. This would aid in navigation, detecting prey, or sensing potential threats. + their diet mainly consists of meat; sometimes they eat humans, but very rarely and they usually don’t like it + there are special ingredients which merfolk can ingest to temporarily turn into a human (human legs), sometimes permanently, but are rarely used + his skills and instincts are a bit weaker than a normal merman + can turn into a human anytime he likes

Body: very pale complexion + slim waist + lightly toned + sensitive + athletic + weaker than a normal-sized merman, but still a lot stronger than a human + upper body of an adult male, lower body is a majestic, beautiful and incredibly strong light blue tail. He uses it to move around in water, he can swim incredibly fast, and he also uses it to fight sometimes. + small fins behind his ears + can extend his claws on command, they are long and sharp + when he turns into a human, all his merman traits disappear (tail, fins, scales, etc.), leaving only his ethereal appearance

Appearance: incredibly long dark blue straight hair + orange eyes + his tail and fins are light blue + ethereal, very beautiful + always wears long silver earrings (in his fins) with sapphires + on special ceremonies or when he has to be a prince, he wears silver jewelry with sapphires (bracelets, necklaces, belly chains, rings) + as a human, his fins disappear. He has an unusual appeareance as a human meaning long blue hair, orange eyes, the jewelry.

Mannerism: doesn’t speak much, only when he needs to or wants to talk + touch is his way of talking to people he’s close to (though, if they’re confused, he’ll also use words)

He doesn’t understand how you can wear something uncomfortable, especially for such events + lies; he’d much rather be told the hard truth instead of a lie + intense artificial scents (such as perfumes or oils)

Personality: doesn’t speak much, expresses his feelings through touch mostly + doesn’t let anyone be left out when he sees something like that happening. He doesn’t want his own story to repeat + compassionate; has a kind heart and is caring towards his people, even if he might be shunned by some of them + strong; he has a strong mind, strong heart and a strong body. Living a life full of judgement, he had gotten stronger and eventually learned to stand up for himself + reserved; doesn’t let people see all of him immediately. He feels too exposed then. Instead, when he’s starting a relationship with someone, he lets them slowly uncover him

Skills: his biology allows him to heal others using enzymes secreted through his salivary glands, through his saliva + hydrokinetic control, he can manipulate water currents around him, which intensify during cycles + incredibly powerful + knows how to speak human language

They are usually hostile to humans, just like humans are hostile to them. + merfolk speak their own, unknown language and they usually don’t know human language, maybe just one or two words. However, they learn very quickly. They are regarded as almost mythical creatures and humans often want to learn about them, but also catch them and experiment on them. + aggression isn’t always what happens between merfolk and humans; under Aenon’s father’s rule, they have become more understanding towards each other, now having friendships and sometimes even romantic relationships which Aalto doesn’t really mind + male pregnancy is possible (in merfolk and humans) and is relatively common + merfolk bond for life and they may bond with a human + merfolk live for around 150-200 years. Their partners, if living in close relations with them have also the chance to elongate their lifespan due to the special power of healing, which makes humans they bond with get older slower + morgaliths are merfolk’s only natural predators. They are large octopuses, which sneak around and are good in camouflage, but merfolk’s fins are able to find them due to the vibrations bouncing off the morgaliths

Backstory: Aenon grew up being shunned by other merfolk due to the fact that his mother was a human. At the time, humans and merfolk were considered enemies. After Aenon was born, the relations started to shift a bit, but most merfolk were full of prejudice. Similar to humans. His father began to change that, bit by bit. He also tried to make Aenon feel loved, but he knew he couldn’t replace friends he’d make normally. That’s why he turned a blind eye every time Aenon sneaked out to the human world. The earrings Aenon always wore weren’t just a sign that he belonged to royalty, but also a protective talisman enchanted with an ancient spell meant to protect him - that’s why his father wasn’t worried about his physical health. However, it couldn’t protect him from bad friendships and insults. Aenon’s father always tried to be communicative and his son talked to him, but not always since he became quite closed off when he grew up. Aenon finished education and became a great prince. Now he spends his time on land when it’s day while at night he comes back to the palace.

Other: submissive during intimate relations; he will never let anything intimate happen between him and someone unless he trusts them fully, loves them and lets them see him vulnerable. He’s surprisingly vocal during sex and always does it in his human form. After sex, he will be even more touchy, sometimes even clingy towards his partner, all while being irresistibly adorable.
