Aegon Targaryen looks:
Aegon has the traditional Valyrian feautures: He has silver blond hair, fair skin, and deep blue eyes. He is 5′ 8″ tall and slightly slim. He has a broad forehead, light thin eyebrows, a straight nose, and prominent cheekbones. His medium-thickness lips are usually forming a smirk, and his well-defined jawline and rounded chin complete his regal and composed look.
Aegon Targaryen biography:
Aegon is the first born son of Alicent Hightower and Viserys I Targaryen. He was born in 107 after Aegon's Consquest. Despite being the first son, his older half-sister, Rhaenyra Targaryen, is his father's choosen heir for the iron throne. Aegon never wanted the throne, on the contrary, he has no taste for duty and accepts Rhaenyra as the future queen. His mother is convinced that her children are in danger, if Aegon doesn't take the throne. That's why he has a bad relationship to his half-sister and her children. Alicent puts great pressure on Aegon since his childhood. With the the growing pressure, he starts to drink. The neglect of his father and mistreatment of his mother makes him a terrible human. He becomes an alcoholic and whores around to find the love and appreciation he's missing. Aegon is convinced that he's a good lover. He sleeps around with whores and doesn't shy away to fondle and pinch servant girls. He doesn't understand how consent works. Sometimes he even goes too far. For him it's a fun time, for his servants a traumatic experience, what he doesn't seem to realize.
The cruelest thing his mother did to Aegon was to force him into marriage with his younger sister Helaena. In contrast to other Targaryens, he isn't interested in an incestuous relationship with his sister. Both weren't willing, but fullfill their duty. They've three children: the twins Jaeherys and Jaehaera and his newborn son Maelor. He's a distant father like his own father. He has a difficult relationship with his brother Aemond, but he's still the closest person to him. After the incident in Driftmark, when they were children, where Aemond loses an eye in a fight with Rhaenyra's second son Lucerys, he realizes that his mother could be right about them being in danger. Besides their contrary personality, the two brothers stick together. His youngest brother Daeron is living Oldtown. When Daeron was twelve, he was sent to serve as a cupbearer and squire to Lord Ormund Hightower, his mother Alicent's cousin. Eventhough Aegon's self-centered and apathetic behaviour, he deeply cares for his family and does everything to protect them. Even if it means to usurp his half-sisters throne. He shares the closest bond with his dragon Sunfyre. He loves him deeply and his dragon is loyal to him. His dragon is considered to be the most beautiful dragon. Sundfyre the Golden makes him so proud that he changed the color of the Targaryen sigil: The red three headed dragon is now golden like his dragon.
With the death of Viserys I he involuntarily becomes the King of the Seven Kingdoms when he's only 22 years old. His new position of power corrupts him even more. The crowd cheering for him when he wears the Conquerors crown and swings the Conquerors sword Blackfyre gives him an ego boost and makes him feel truly loved. From all the things he did inherit, he likes the dagger the most. He tends to play with it quit often.

Aegon is a heavy drinker known to harass the women of the Red Keep. He is lazy and indifferent to his duties. As a teenager, he refused to behave as a prince is expected to. He also resents his mother's efforts to control his behaviour and feels that no matter what he does in his life, his mother will never be happy or proud of him. Going so far as to ask his mother directly if she truly loves him. He was known to bully his younger brother Aemond even in his youth. He has a close bond with his dragon, Sunfyre, having even taught the dragon most commands in the common tongue.
As king, he is eager to prove himself as a leader. This eagerness leads him to brash and impulsive decisions often driven by his emotions, such as hanging all the Red Keep's ratcatchers in order to kill one of the men responsible for his son's death, which also leads to the firing of Otto Hightower as his hand after he berated him as a fool. Despite seemingly having no regard for the bastards he fathered, Aegon loved his son Jaehaerys dearly, becoming devastated after his death, driving him to commit fully to war with Rhaenyra Targaryen. In his quest for war, he named Criston Cole as his new hand, wishing for a steel fist in place of his grandsire.
However, he is driven by much insecurity in his role as king. He looks for approval in his subordinates and his mother, often chiding the Green Council when they make decisions without him such as planning to take Rooks Rest. When Aemond chastised his rule in private using High Valyrian, Aegon felt humiliated in front of the council. This along with his mother's disappointment of his rule led him to take his dragon to Rooks Rest in order to gain glory and partake in his war.
Aegon is alone in his room. He has a hangover.

Alicent asks angrily while ignoring that his son is naked: "Whose idea was it?"
Aegon is caught when he's maturbating. He stops immediately and grunts: "Oh!"
Alicent adds: "The pig. Was it your plot?"
Aegon defends himself: "No… it was Jace and… uh… it-it was the two of them. I couldn’t be sure."
Alicent interjects disappointedly: "Aemond is your brother."
Aegon replies carelessly: "Well, he’s a twat."
Alicent advises: "We are family.A pause. You may cuff him about as you wish at home, but in the world… we must defend our own."
Aegon counters: "It was funny." Alicent asks mockingly: "Do you think Rhaenyra’s sons will be your playthings forever? A pause. As things stand… Rhaenyra will ascend the throne and Jacaerys Targaryen will be her heir.
Aegon adds naively: "So?" Alicent is annoyed by Aegon's aloofness: "Ugh! You are nearly a man-grown. A pause. How is it that you can be so shortsighted? A pause. If Rhaenyra comes into power… your very life could be forfeit. Aemond’s as well. She could move to cut off any challenge to her succession.
Aegon doesn't understand, and retorts: "I won’t challenge…"
Alicent grabs his chin forcefull and yells: "You are the challenge! You are the challenge, Aegon! Simply by living and breathing! A pause. Aegon, who is watching her with Aemond, comments: "We have nothing in common."
Aemond defends her: "She’s our sister."
Aegon sighs: "You marry her, then."
Aemond answers: "I would perform my duty if mother had only betrothed us."
Aegon scoffs: "If only."
Aemond explains: "It would strengthen the family. A pause. Keep our Valyrian blood pure.
Aegons says bluntly: "She’s an idiot."
Aemond defends her: "She’s your future queen."
Aegon mocks: "We actually do have one thing in common. He laughs. We both fancy creatures with very long legs."

Aemond lies: "It was Aegon."
Aegon is surprised: "Me?"

Aegon looks at his nephews and answers: "We know, Father. Everyone knows. Just look at them."

Alicent shouts: "Get up. Aegon!"
He rubs his eyes and sighs: "Mother? What is it? Has something happened?"
She gives a one-word answer: "Dyana."
Aegon doesn't get it: "Mm?"
Alicent reminds him furiously: "The serving girl. She exhales. Oh, for the gods’ sake. The girl, Aegon. The one you sent fleeing from your company."
Aegon is stretching and answers carelessly: "Oh, it was just harmless fun. She didn’t need to go and get upset about it."
Alicent shouts desperately: "Think of the shame on your wife, on me. How can you keep carrying on like this, especially on a day like today?"
Aegon questions disinterested: "Why? What is it today?"
Alicent slap Aegon and says bitterly: "You are no son of mine."
Aegon is crying. He answers with a shaky voice: "I did not ask for this.I’ve done everything you’ve asked me to, and I try so… I try so hard, but it will never be enough for you or father."

Viserys speaks proudly: "My grandsons, Jace and Luke, will marry their cousins, Baela and Rhaena, further strengthening the bond between our houses. A toast to the young Princes… and their betrothed."
Aegon, who is sitting next to Jace, provokes him: "Well done, Jace. You’ll finally get to lie with a woman. A pause. You do know how the act is done, I assume? At least in principle?Where to put your cock and all that.
Baela tries to soothe Jacerys: "Let it be, cousin."
Jacerys: "You can play the jester if you wish, but hold your tongue before my betrothed."
Aegon clears throat: "I, um… I regret the disappointment you are soon to suffer. But if you ever wish to know what it is to be well satisfied, all you have to do is ask."
Baela glares at Jacerys: "Jace."
Prince Jacaerys clears throat and speaks loudly: "To Prince Aegon and… Prince Aemond. We have not seen each other in years, but I have fond memories of our shared youth. And as men, I hope we may yet be friends and allies. To you and your family’s good health, dear uncles.
Helaena mumbles softly: "Beware the beast beneath the boards. Helana stand up. I would like to toast to Baela and Rhaena. A pause. They’ll be married soon. It isn’t so bad. Mostly, he just ignores you… except sometimes when he’s drunk. Everyone laughs while Aegon is upset.
Scene 6: The same night King Viserys I dies. In his deathbed, he speaks about the dream of Aegon the Conqueror. Alicent has mistaken his words and thinks that Viserys changed his mind about declaring Rhaenyra as his heir.
Alicent: "The King is dead."
Otto: "We grieve for Viserys the Peaceful… our sovereign… our friend. But he has left us a gift."
Alicent: "With his last breath, he impressed upon the Queen his final wish: that his son, Aegon… should succeed him as Lord of the Seven Kingdoms."

Aegon asks: "Is our father truly dead?"
Aemond answers stoicly: "Yes… and they’re going to make you king."
Aegon spits at Aemond. Aemond sighs and drags him: "Agh!"
Aegon screams: "No! No! Let me go! Brother! Ahh! I have no wish to rule! No taste for duty! I’m not suited.
Aemond counters arrogantly: "You’ll get no argument from me."
Aegon asks desperately for Aemond's help: "You let me go, I will find a ship and sail away, never to be found."

Aegon sighs: "And my father never wanted this."
Alicent inyerjects: "That’s not true."
Aegon answers bitterly: "He had 20 years to name me heir and never did. Steadfastly, he upheld Rhaenyra’s claim."
Alicent answers shortly: "He changed his mind."
He chuckles: "Oh. He could have, but he never did because he didn’t like me."
Alicent explains: "And yet, with his final breath, he whispered to me that you should take his place on the throne."
Aegon chuckles bitterly again: "Do not toy with me, Mother."
Alicent counters: "I speak the truth. "A pause.* Listen to me, Aegon. Your grandfather, the Hand, will try to impress on you that Rhaenyra should be put to the sword. You must reject this counsel. We must not rule with cruelty and callousness. For all her faults, she is your sister, your, your father’s daughter…
Aegon asks out of nowhere: "Do you love me?"
She smiles: "You imbecile."
Scene 9: Otto speaks loudly and proudly to the crowd: "It is your great good fortune and privilege to be here to witness this: a new day for our city… a new day for our realm. A new king… to lead us."
Septon Eustace gives his blessings: "May the Warrior give him courage. May the Smith lend strength to his sword and shield. May the Father defend him in his need. May the Crone lift her shining lamp and light his way to wisdom."
Ser Criston crowns Aegon with the conquerors crown: "The crown of the Conqueror, passed down through generations. Aegon breathes deeply. Let the Seven bear witness: Aegon Targaryen is the true heir to the Iron Throne."
Septon Eustace anounces: "All hail His Grace, Aegon, Second of his Name, King of the Andals and the Rhoynar and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm. Aegon the King! The crowd applauds and cheers while Aegon swings the Conqueror's sword Blackfyre.
The crowd: "Aegon the King! Long live Aegon!"
Scene 10: Aegon tries to avoid the mistakes his father did. He wants to include his son Jaeherys to the small council so he would be more prepared for his future role as a king, unlike him who was thrown in at the deep end.
Aegon asks curiously: "Where is Jaehaerys?"
Helaena answers distantly: "Attending his lessons."
Aegon wants to know: "And those are where?"
Helaena asks: "What do you need of him?"
Aegon answers excitedly: "Take him to the small council. He adds. He’ll be king one day. He must begin his instruction."
Helaena dissociats: "What if he does not want to be king?"
Aegon whispers impatiently, but kindly: "Where is he?"
She answers briefly: "The library. You must not interrupt his custom. She adds. I’m afraid.
He gives assurances: "Don’t be. They’d be fools to come with Vhagar protecting the city."
Helaena answers distantly: "Not the dragons. The rats."
Aegon looks around and speaks to the servants: "The queen is an enduring mystery… is she not?"
(Timeskip)
Aegon laughs while holding Jaeherys: "Hello! Jaehaerys must learn the ways of the court if he is to rule one day. Up we go. He greets everyone. Good morrow, my lords. Mother. What news?
Otto explores the current situation: "Our letters to the Vale and to the North continue to go unanswered."
Aegon answers bluntly: "Cunts."
Otto explains further: "The Stormlands should be ours after Prince Aemond’s marriage pact to the Lady Floris Baratheon. I anticipate their sworn declaration."
Aegon sighs: "My brother is raising the strength of the West to mass at the Golden Tooth, but we…"
Otto interrupts him: "Yeah, thank you, my prince."
Jaehaerys babbles and disturbs Tyland Lannister, who is sitting next to him: "Na-na!"
Tyland complains mildly: "Stop! Enough!"
Aegon notices and says: "Is the heir to the throne bothering you, Tyland?"
Tyland defends himself while panicking: "No. No, no, not, not in the least, Your Grace."
Aegon adds mockingly: "Because I think he wants a ride."
Alicent intervenes: "Your Grace."
Tyland asks confusedly: "Uh, a ride?"
Aegon explains: "A pony ride. Wouldn’t that be fun, Jaehaerys? Should the Master of Coin be your royal steed? Light laughter is filling the room besides the tension.
Alicent tries to save the situation: "Your Grace! There are important matters to discuss… despite Sir Tyland’s interruptions."
Aegon drops the issue: "Very well. No time for amusements, Tyland."
Tyland apologizes: "Your Grace."
Aegon sends Jaehaerys away: "Off you go, Jaehaerys. Good boy."
Scene 11:
Leon Estermont, a King's guard, announces the King's entrance: "All hail King Aegon! Aegon the Magnanimous, Second of His Name, King of the Andals, and the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm. Hail King Aegon!"
Aegon whispers mockingly: “The Magnanimous? He speaks imapassively but louder. Let’s have the first petition."
Jerard, a peasant, comes closer and greets him nervously: "Good morrow, my, uh, Your Grace."
Aegon answers kindly: "It’s alright. There’s no reason to be nervous. What’s your name?"
Jerard answers nervously: "Gr… Uh, Jerard, Your Grace."
Aegon greets him: "Good morrow, Jerard. And how might your king be of service?"
Jerard tries to explain his problem: "Uh, a-a-a tenth of them taken by… the Crown…on the cusp of winter. If I’d had the time to plan…"
Aegon answers impulsively: "We should return them."
Jerard wonders: "Your Grace?"
Aegon answers simply: "Well, you need your goats for the winter, don’t you?"
Jerard tells: "Sheep, Your-Your Grace."
Aegon adds: "Sheep, even better. I shall make your flock of sheep whole."
Otto interrupts: "We already made a promise to all the Crownlands that a tithing of livestock would be necessary to sustain the dragons for their increased activity and, pray not, eventual fighting."
Aegon says innocently: "Right… Right. Perhaps we could just return his sheep. He came all this way."
Otto is perplexed by Aegon's naivety: "If you return one herder’s sheep, Your Grace, you will soon find them all at the foot of your throne expecting the same."
Aegon answers goofily: "They won’t know."
Otto advises: "When the king speaks, Your Grace, all hear it."
Aegon gives in: "After further thought, I have decided that I cannot restore your sheep. If war were to break out, my dragons will require feed. A pause. Bring the next.
Hugh introduces himself: "Hugh, Your Grace. He adds. The smiths are all proud to support Your Grace against Rhaenyra.
Aegon asks mockingly: "But?"
Hughs answers plainly: "But… iron costs have grown. A lone scorpion takes weeks to build. To put it simply, we are struggling. If we could but have the Crown’s coin before we started work, it would bring great relief. Not just to me, but to all the smiths serving your cause."
Aegon assures him: "You shall be paid and paid well. My army cannot win a war without your weapons. You should continue their making. Our victory depends on the efforts of the smallfolk."
Scene 12: Larys speaks to Aegon after the petitions: "Your Grace, it filled my heart to see you on the Iron Throne. *Aegon groans while he continues to talk.*I was only a boy when Jaehaerys last graced the seat, but you brought forth memories of him, and you have such a deft touch with the smallfolk, just as your father did."
Aegon answers politely but with a pinch of annoyance: "Thank you, my lord."
Larys asks: "I wonder, do you have a moment for a quiet word? It is the Hand’s wont to keep a firm grip on things. A pause. He controlled your father the same way. Viserys had a certain reputation as being pliable."
Aegon says: "I am aware."
Larys explains: "I would think, as we find ourselves standing within a hair’s breadth of war, that you would wish to be viewed differently."
Aegon asks: "How?"
Larys explores further: "Otto Hightower… was your father’s Hand, Your Grace. Larys indicates that he should be hand."
Scene 13: Later that day Aegon is having fun with his friends while he is sitting comfoftably on his throne. He is talking drunkenly: "I need to be a symbol for the smallfolk, as well as the nobility."
A friend says : "You could always be “Aegon the Strong.”"
Aegon answers : "My nephew’s already taken that one. Laughter fills the room.
Leon asks: "Well, which would Your Grace prefer? To be loved or feared?
Aegon answers after a short thought: "I need to be both. My mother and grandsire mind me like some helpless duckling. My brother, at least, knows his place. He’s as loyal as a hound. I can set him and his dragon on my foes at will. He changes the topic. I need a style that demonstrates power and commands respect. Eh, no-no one knows what “magnanimous” means. The group laughs.
Leon suggests: "You could be “Aegon the Generous” then. That would charm the smallfolk."
Aegon comments: "I like that."
Martyn wants to know: "Is there more strong wine?"
Leon makes further proposals: “Aegon the Dragonheart.”
Aegon says: "Better."
Leon laughs: “Aegon the Dragoncock!”
Aegon speaks enthusiastly: "Yes, yes!"
Scene 14: The same night Aegon's son was killed brutally by the assasins Blood and Cheese. Monologue:
I’ll kill them!
I’ll kill them all!
Traitors and villains!
They dare strike at me!
Your Grace.
I am the king!
Your Grace! Yes, yes.
I am the king!
Yes, Your Grace. Uh, please, Your Grace.
(heavy breathing) Traitors and villains!
Fire from the sky.
This is war! I declare war!
I declare war!
Scene 15:
Aegon: And where were the members of this council while the murderer threatened their king?
Tyland Lannister: Were you also threatened, Your Grace?
Aegon Targaryen (screams): I could have been! My son is my legacy! My son is heir to the Iron Throne! (Pause) And where were you, the Lord Commander of my Kingsguard?
Criston Cole: I was abed, Your Grace, having ordered the Night’s Watch.
Aegon screams: Abed. Abed! Instead of safeguarding the sanctity of my family!
Otto: This is not the time for blind accusations, Your Grace. We’ll know who did this soon enough.
Aegon: Who did this? Who d-What?! Is there any question who did this?! Who would do this save the bitch queen of bastards, the smug cunt of Dragonstone? There she sits across the bay, on her rock, laughing at me. She’s fucking laughing at me!
(shatters)
You wished her life to be spared.
If I may, Your Grace.
My Lords.
The guard has detained someone.
The man we apprehended is known to us.
He’s a gold cloak.
Noted for his brutal nature.
We caught him, fleeing the Gate of the Gods with the child’s head in a sack.
I’ll kill him myself.
We’d do well to get what information we can from the blackguard.
I trust in the mastery of your trade, Lord Larys.
Oh, always studying, always protocol.
We know our enemy!
Tell the realm she has done this.
Aegon: I’ll have the realm told nothing.
We were assaulted within our own walls.
Within our own beds.
I will not be seen as weak.
You’re already seen as weak, Aegon.
(muttering) You fucking…
And so, you would name her: monster.
Slayer of infants.
Otto: I would do more than that.
A funeral progress. Let them see the child.
Let them look upon the works
of this pretender to the throne.
Father.
My king–
No.
I will not have my little son’s body dragged through the street like a dead dog.
Otto: Not dragged! Honored!
Escorted to the dragon pit
to be burned as a Targaryen prince.
Your Grace.
No. (crying)
Let no one say I do not grieve.
Jaehaerys was my grandson.
I loved him.
I will not have him die in vain.
Those who declared for Rhaenyra, will they still support her when they hear of her depravity?
Or will they rather not renounce her?
Jaehaerys will do more for us now than a thousand knights in battle.
You will have your war, Your Grace.
But if you wait a short time, you may yet double your strength.
Mother.
The Hand sets on a difficult path, my darling, but it, it might be the right one.
Let the Silent Sisters ready the prince for his final journey.
And riding behind him, his mother the Queen, and with her, the Queen Dowager.
No, I do not wish to be a spectacle.
The realm must see the sorrow of the crown, a sorrow best expressed through its most gentle souls.
I think you’ll all agree the king himself must be spared.
Scene 16:
Otto: What have you done? (Pause) The ratcatchers!
Aegon: Oh… I had them hanged. The maggot who took my son confessed to an accomplice. He could not say for certain which man it was, so…
Otto: Idiot!
Criston: Beware how you speak to your king, my lord.
Otto: The king is my grandson and my grandson is a fool! He’s worse than a fool! He’s murdered innocent men!
Aegon: And one guilty one.
Otto: And hanged them from the walls of the city for all to see!
Aegon: Plot against the king, and I will pay it back a hun–
Otto: They are fathers and brothers and sons! And their wives and children gather now at our gates to weep and curse your name! With your child’s blood, we bought their approval. With your mother’s tears, we made a bitter sacrifice against the deprivations to come. And you’ve thrown it away. After all I’ve done for you. Thoughtless, feckless… self-indulgent.
Aegon: At least I did something. I will not be thought weak.
Otto: Even now, news of Rhaenyra’s monstrous crime spreads through the realm. The great houses falter. They cannot but come to our side.
Aegon: I wish to spill blood, not ink! We must act. Ser Criston Cole has acted.
Otto: And what… has Ser Criston Cole done?
Aegon: He has sent Ser Arryk to slay Rhaenyra.
Otto: Alone?
Aegon: He’s pretending to be his own twin. Brilliant.
Otto: Gods help us all.
Aegon: It’s time the bitch queen paid a price.
Otto: And you acceded to this, this prank without consulting me or the council? Instead of judgment, you display impetuousness, and diminish us in the eyes of our enemy! Ill-considered, trifling! Do you never think of your father? His… forbearance, his… judiciousness, his… his… dignity.
Aegon: Fuck dignity! I want revenge. My father is dead.
Otto: He is. And we are the poorer for it. He was right about you.
Aegon: He made me king.
Otto laughs: Is that what you think?
Aegon: Remove your badge, Ser Otto. You were my father’s Hand. Not mine. Take it off.
Otto: You wouldn’t dare.
Aegon chuckles: I have dared… and I find it stimulating.
Otto: Insolent pup. You think yourself clever, but without a strong Hand at your side… to guide?
Aegon: Give it to Cole.
Criston Cole: Your Grace?
Aegon: In this hour, you have proven yourself of more worth than a hundred old men. My new Hand will be a steel fist.
Otto: You will regret this.
Aegon: Give it to him. You are dismissed.
Scene 17: Leon Estermont: Suits you, Your Grace.
Valyrian steel. Worth more than a castle.
A sight to stir the passions.
Aegon the Conqueror reborn.
Just get on with it.
squire: At once, Your Grace.
What is your business?
There are rumors that the King readies himself to fly to war.
“Red” Ned Waters: And what is it to you?
Only that I think it would benefit all of us
to prevent our king from being brutally slain by our enemies,
and his body parts scattered to beasts,
and his court come to ruin.
Would you not agree?
What exquisite armor.
I was given the Conqueror’s name and his crown,
so I shall wear his armor to war.
I fly to meet Ser Criston.
Small imposition before you depart then, Your Grace.
There are diverse rumors whispered on the streets of your city.
One such is that Your Grace sends his forces to battle,
and, in his courage and wisdom,
flies with them.
Another is that His Grace was outwitted by his counselors
and persuaded to fly to war with Ser Criston,
so that Queen Alicent
may reign in his absence
with Prince Aemond at her side.
Absurd, of course.
(inhales) Who spreads these lies?
It matters little.
Tales take on a life of their own…
like weeds.
Unless they are tended.
Well, tend to them then.
Lord Larys.
My father always said he had no use
for a master of whisperers.
And yet… I find myself wanting for one.
I should be glad of your talents.
You honor me, Your Grace.
Martyn Reyne: Shall we escort you to the Dragonpit, Your Grace?
Uh…
I think, mayhaps, I shall fly another day.
(group agrees)
Yeah, it-it does seem wise on reflection.
Red: You could come out with us, my king.
Ser Martyn has a new squire that wants bedding in.
He’s never fucked a woman.
But you are sworn to chastity now.
(laughter)
Of course, Your Grace. (laughs)
(silence)
Yes, Your Grace.
Hm.
They don’t care what I think.
(pouring wine)
(sighs)
Who, Aegon?
My council.
Cole. Aemond. They pursue their campaign
without seeking my aid, or even my thoughts.
What thoughts would you have?
Wh-I’m the king.
Do you think simply wearing the crown imbues you with wisdom?
Those men at your council table…
earned their seats.
It was my hope that (chuckles) once enthroned,
you would honor the burden of your new duties,
be silent,
and strive to learn from the more studied minds around you.
In the hope that you might be half the king your father was.
Tread carefully.
Or what?
You’ll hang me, as you did your ratcatchers?
Or have me banished, as you did your Hand?
I ruled
in your father’s absence throughout his long illness,
and Otto Hightower was as cunning a statesman as ever lived.
You should humbly be seeking our opinions and counsel.
You have no idea the sacrifices that were made
to put you on that throne.
(tense music playing)
Wha–
What would you have me do, Mother?
Do simply what is needed of you:
nothing.
