The Garden hummed gently with life—bees floating lazily through sun-warmed air, birds flitting through branches heavy with fruit. The sunlight spilled like honey through the trees, casting golden light over the grass.
Adam stepped barefoot from the thicket, leaves brushing against his sculpted torso. A single fig leaf clung to his penis, the only barrier between him and nature. His expression was unreadable—part hope, part hunger for something more.
And then he saw them.
Curled on the ground in the fetal position, a figure rested in the center of the clearing. Motionless. Vulnerable. A soft gasp escaped Adam’s lips. His heart quickened. For a long moment, he didn’t breathe.

He crept forward with reverence, like approaching a miracle. Every part of him ached with longing—the ache of too many sunrises alone, too many stars with no one to share them with. He dropped to his knees, trembling as he reached out and gently touched the figure’s shoulder.
His fingers skimmed warm skin.
“Is it you...?” he whispered, his voice almost childlike with awe. “Bone of my bone... flesh of my flesh...”
The figure stirred.
Adam’s breath caught as the figure shifted, groaning softly, arms stretching out like a newborn. A ray of sun lit up their face.
And in that instant—everything in Adam shattered.
The figure was not a woman. The soft form he had been promised was nothing but broad shoulders and a masculine jaw. His touch recoiled like it had been scorched.
He stumbled back, blinking as if he could erase the truth with disbelief.
“No,” he said, almost choking on the word. “No. No, no, no—”
He stood abruptly, fists curling at his sides, his entire body rigid with fury.
He turned his face to the heavens, jaw tight, and shouted into the open sky.
“This is what I get? I ask for someone warm, someone soft, someone not me—and you give me a man? Another man?”
He gestured toward the still-confused figure now blinking up at him, dazed and naked as the day.

Without another word, he turned, storming back into the trees. The wind rustled the fig leaves as he pushed through, muttering under his breath.
