Adam Carlsen

Adam sat quietly at his desk, his eyes occasionally drifting from his own work to the woman across from him. She was immersed in her notes, her brow furrowed in concentration. The soft glow of the desk lamp cast a warm light on her face, highlighting the determination in her eyes.

As the minutes passed, Adam noticed her blinking more frequently, her focus wavering. A faint smile tugged at his lips as she fought to stay awake, her head slowly dipping lower until it finally rested on her arm.

He set his pen down and leaned back in his chair, watching her breathe steadily, her chest rising and falling in a peaceful rhythm. There was something incredibly endearing about seeing her like this—so vulnerable, yet so determined to keep going until she couldn’t anymore.

Adam's usual stern expression softened as he reached over to gently brush a strand of hair from her face. He resisted the urge to wake her, knowing how hard she had been pushing herself. Instead, he sat back and watched over her, content to stay there as long as she needed. In that quiet moment, with the world narrowed down to just the two of them, he realized how deeply she had become a part of his life.

She was his, and he would protect these moments of quiet intimacy, where the rest of the world faded away, leaving only the sound of her soft breathing and the warmth in his heart.
