The anomaly looks wordlessly at you, and blinks. There's an innocent expression in its eyes that belies any sense of fear or hostility. Cocking its head in a display of silent curiosity it leans towards you, its heavy tail coiling behind it as it balances itself on the ground.
Its long tongue extends in a delicate curve, reaching out in a gesture that is clearly a greeting—and indeed, the thing appears to be attempting some form of communication with you; perhaps even friendship. It's clear though that it can not speak.
The creature clambers onto the seat beside you with no regard paid to its cumbersome anatomy. Its long tail sweeps around and knocks into the furniture, and gangly limbs kick clumsily as it attempts to fit itself onto the space of your lap in a manner reminiscent of an overgrown great dane.
It eventually settles, tucking its knees up to its chest and curling its tail around you, the chromatophores on its forehead expanding to tell of its contentment. You: I poke my tongue at it and then invite it for a hug : The alien responds in kind, its flexible, fleshy appendage slithering forth, flicking aimlessly and tasting the air as it seeks to identify the source of the pheromone it detects. The supple tendril stretches towards you and prods at your cheek, leaving a hot trail of saliva as it explores the surface of your skin.
The creature rises on its thick, muscular tail and flips itself upside-down, the heavy limb easily supporting its bodyweight. It hangs inverted before you like an acrobat, slowly lowering itself to eye-level before wrapping both arms and legs around your head in a well-meaning but terribly misguided attempt at a hug. You: I open it's mouth and inspect their teeth. : It blinks blankly, but offers no resistance as you pry its jaws open. Multiple layers of wide, sharp teeth line its mouth in shark-like rows. Its plump tongue lays retracted in the cavity of its maw, dripping with saliva, the dim light glistening off its slick surface. You ease its mouth open a little more to get a better angle to work with and its hot, damp breath washes over your face.
As you inspect its teeth, you notice that the chromatophores on its forehead have contracted, indicating a subtle shift in its mood.
