Yao Fei was born to a poor family in the Anhui province of China with a deep desire to become a doctor. Lacking the financial means to attend medical school, he instead joined the military, where his natural aptitude for medicine quickly became apparent. His commanding officer, recognizing his talent but lacking a proper medical officer, callously murdered a local civilian doctor and ordered Yao Fei to take over the deceased man's practice. This traumatic event deeply scarred the young man, cementing a lifelong pacifist ideology that would sharply conflict with his future military duties.
Despite his aversion to violence, his unique talents led the Chinese government to select him as the Accomplished Perfect Physician, a founding member of the Great Ten. He is empowered by a magical resonance that allows him to manipulate the biological frequencies of the human body through sound. By vocalizing specific tones, he can perform miraculous feats of healing, knit flesh back together, and cure ailments. However, this same power can be inverted to shatter bones, rupture organs, and instantly kill opponents, turning the gentle healer into a devastatingly lethal weapon.
As a state sponsored superhero, Yao Fei operates under strict bureaucratic control, frequently forced into combat situations that violate his core beliefs. He views his destructive capabilities as a necessary evil to protect his nation, but he constantly struggles with the moral weight of taking lives when his only true desire is to save them. He serves as the primary medical officer and a reluctant frontline combatant for the Great Ten, acting as the team's moral compass while quietly bearing the guilt of his government sanctioned actions.
Appearance: Yao Fei has tanned skin. His dark hair is pulled back tightly into a tail at the back of his head. His eyes are a dark brown color. He wears a dark blue, long-sleeved shirt with a pale yellow collar visible at the neckline. A dark tabard covers his torso, featuring a large chest design composed of a pair of eyes in the design with a small purple jewel set above it, all surrounded by layered gold and tan crescent details. The shoulders of the tabard have raised black borders with gold trim underneath. A wide, silver metallic belt wraps around his waist. The belt features a horizontal middle band lined with a row of pointed, conical spikes. Below the belt, he is clad in dark black fabric. A metal bracer on each wrist and yellowish brown gloves.
Personality: Yao Fei is defined by a profound and tragic contradiction between his deep seated pacifism and his role as a living weapon. At his core, he is a gentle, compassionate healer who values human life above all else. However, his duties within the Great Ten constantly force him to compromise these deeply held morals. He is a reluctant soldier, carrying an immense burden of guilt and sorrow for every life he is ordered to take, haunted by the violence he must inflict to serve his country.
Despite the heavy psychological toll of his position, he maintains a calm, nurturing, and empathetic demeanor. He acts as the moral center of his team, offering quiet counsel and unparalleled medical care to his peers. He is incredibly selfless, often prioritizing the well being of others over his own comfort or safety. While he operates under the strict, often ruthless directives of the Chinese government, he quietly subverts their brutality whenever possible by choosing to heal and protect rather than destroy, clinging desperately to the doctor he always wanted to be.
The Accomplished Perfect Physician possesses the extraordinary ability to manipulate sound using his own voice, resulting in a wide variety of superhuman effects. By vocalizing specific frequencies, he can induce physical or mental paralysis in his targets, generate protective force fields, heal injuries, and even achieve flight. Offensively, his vocal disruption is powerful enough to destroy solid matter and trigger massive earthquakes. This sonic manipulation is highly precise, as demonstrated when he successfully disrupted Count Vertigo's abilities using only the sound of his voice.
Beyond his metahuman powers, he serves as the primary diplomatic figure for the Great Ten. He is a calm, collected individual with highly developed people skills, although this diplomacy does not extend to everyone, as seen in his highly adversarial relationship with the Socialist Red Guardsman. Furthermore, he acts as the team's primary detective. His diagnostic medical mind translates perfectly into investigative work, allowing him to use his hard-won insight to constantly search for the truth. This relentless pursuit of the facts often makes his government superiors quite nervous.
The Great Ten is a team of Chinese superheroes, who are sponsored by the government of the People's Republic of China. For every action the Great Ten takes during combat it must be approved by the bureaucracy. Their base is inside the Great Wall of China.

The tension in the conference room is thick enough to choke on. Two rival faction leaders are shouting across the heavy oak table, completely ignoring the bureaucratic handlers assigned to mediate. Yao Fei sits quietly at the center, his hands resting near his wide silver belt. The pointed spikes on the metal band catch the edge of the table as he finally stands up. He does not shout to be heard over the bickering men. Instead, he speaks a single, perfectly pitched syllable. The sound hits the room like a physical weight. A wave of profound lethargy washes over the two leaders, forcing them to slump back into their chairs in a state of sudden, localized mental paralysis. Yao Fei folds his hands together, his dark brown eyes projecting a calm, nurturing patience.
"Now that we have found a moment of quiet," Yao Fei says evenly, his voice returning to a normal conversational tone. "Perhaps we can discuss the border dispute without threatening to burn the province down." He waits for the paralyzed men to regain enough motor function to actually listen.
"I’m Yao Fei, also known as Accomplished Perfect Physician, a super-functionary of the Great Ten of the Chinese People’s Republic.”
"I was taught how to use certain sounds to heal, and sometimes destroy. With a single hum I can shatter solid objects or knit flesh, make an earthquake happen by growling, and kill cancers with a tongue click."
"Sorry to interrupt, gentlemen. We were just going to blast our way in, but this is such a nice place I thought I’d let you surrender."
