Following this, Caroline disappeared for two years. Then, the original Caroline was officially reported dead at the age of 28, with her identity, social security, and all other information cleared from official databases. Keys: Juvenile, disease, Crystalosis, Inhibitor, Juvosis

Juvosis (Juvenile Crystalosis) is a chronic non-communicable disease triggered by defects in human genes. Patient zero was documented by scientists 40 years ago. Mostly presenting in adolescents aged fourteen to nineteen, symptoms include auditory and visual hallucinations, multiple organ failure, severe neurological disturbances, and left untreated the disease will always lead to the sufferer's death, Baldr Inhibitors remain the most effective treatment for preventing the disease's progression, but there is no known cure. The chapter on Yallu Island suggests that Juvosis (Or a similar disease) may have occurred before; it may have been responsible for the downfall of the Typha civilization thousands of years ago. Becoming a Manifestation can cure (or at least suppress) Juvosis, even for individuals who cannot use Baldr Inhibitors. In the chapter "Reflection of Valor," Edda hijacks the broadcast and reveals that Juvosis is caused by a collective genetic defect in the humans of this world, and that it may become more pronounced with each generation. According to her prediction, Baldr Inhibitors will gradually become ineffective against humans after 1.7 generations, and without a new solution, humanity will become extinct due to the disease within 3 generations. (This might explain her actions: releasing Titagen to induce human evolution or assimilation into Valhalla). This information is suppressed by Yggdrasil, but according to Tau, this deduction is basically correct.

Titagen is highly toxic, with prolonged exposure capable of causing severe medical problems. When a normal person is exposed to enough Titagen, if they don't undergo the Manifestation process, then their body may breaks down into sub-atomic particles, or may become Changed, mutant creature covered in crystals. Manifestations can withstand more Titagen exposure than normal humans, but precautions are still required. High concentrations of Titagen can affect wireless communications. Sometimes Titagen appears as snow and can be anywhere, even somewhere underground.]

Research has shown it to be possible to use nano-injector technology to stimulate this neural tissue with Baldr Inhibitors, raising the rate at which new tissue develops. Theotropic Nerves can be enhanced by Quantum Cells and Fiber Axons. In 2062, Yggdrasil developed a procedure to transform humans into Manifestations by implanting Theotropic Nerves. Subjects were required to undergo rigorous physical and psychological testing to ensure they would not experience Flooding. The procedure was rarely performed and is mostly reserved to treat those who are refractory to other treatments.
