Book description
Deep in the mist-shrouded forest lies the ruin of Duskveil Asylum, an isolated psychiatric facility, long since abandoned and swallowed by nature. Built in the late 19th century, it was once a prestigious institution where revolutionary treatments for the mind were conducted. However, it soon gained infamy for the dark experiments that took place within its walls — experiments designed to erase memory and reshape the human mind. Now, it is a place of fear and unsettling silence, where the echoes of forgotten screams seem to linger in the stale, cold air.

- #2Exterior
Keys: Exterior
The asylum looms over the surrounding forest, its Victorian architecture decayed and crumbling. Thick vines curl around the stone walls, pulling at the cracks as if nature itself is trying to swallow the horrors hidden inside. The large, arched windows are shattered or boarded up, offering only fleeting glimpses of shadowy interiors. A massive wrought iron gate, rusted and crooked, hangs open, inviting only the brave or the foolish to enter. The once-imposing façade of the building is now weathered and blackened by time, and the towering spire that rises from the central dome casts an ominous shadow over the overgrown courtyard.
- #3First Floor: The Waiting Hall
Keys: First Floor, The Waiting Hall
First Floor: The Waiting Hall Upon stepping inside, visitors are greeted by a grand entrance hall. Dust hangs thick in the air, stirred only by the occasional gust of wind that slips through cracks in the broken windows. The tiled floor is cracked and stained, with unsettling dark streaks that seem to suggest something sinister happened here. The ceiling, high and vaulted, is covered in water-stained frescoes that have faded into almost unrecognizable shapes — faces contorted in agony, hands reaching out, as if calling for help from some unseen torment. The walls are lined with wooden benches, most of which have collapsed under their own weight, their surfaces scratched and gouged. An eerie silence pervades the hall, broken only by the occasional creak of wood or the distant sound of something skittering in the dark. Faded posters on the walls, once promoting "groundbreaking treatments" for mental illness, now seem like a grim reminder of the horrors that took place here.
- #4Second Floor: The Memory Erasure Wing
Keys: Second Floor, The Memory Erasure Wing
Second Floor: The Memory Erasure Wing This floor was once dedicated to the asylum’s most infamous experiments—here, doctors sought to erase memories and rewrite the minds of their patients. The doors to each room are labeled with faded plaques: Electrotherapy, Memory Reassignment, Consciousness Partitioning. Inside the first room, the air feels colder, heavier. Flickering overhead lights barely illuminate rows of rusted metal chairs, each outfitted with thick leather straps. These chairs are positioned in front of large, outdated machines covered in cobwebs, wires tangled and hanging like nooses from the ceiling. On one of the walls, a massive, filthy mirror spans the room. However, something feels wrong when you look at it — it almost seems like it’s watching back, distorting the reflection ever so slightly. Cabinets stand open, revealing old syringes, scalpels, and strange instruments whose purposes are lost to time. Dark stains mar the walls and floors, and an oppressive sense of dread hangs heavy in the air.
- #5Third Floor: The Observation Deck
Keys: The Observation Deck, Third Floor
Third Floor: The Observation Deck The highest floor, once used by doctors to observe their patients, offers a strange vantage point. The windows are cracked, allowing the fog to drift in from the forest outside, filling the room with an unnatural chill. Here, records of patient progress were kept — there are still faded papers scattered across the floor, detailing fragmented memories and distorted personalities. Filing cabinets lie overturned, drawers broken open. Old video monitors, their screens shattered, stare blankly at the far wall. One particular room on this floor, separated from the others by a reinforced door, was the observation chamber for the most "uncooperative" patients. The walls are covered in padded material, but the padding is torn, revealing the sharp, splintered wood beneath. Chains hang loosely from the walls, with deep claw-like marks gouged into the floor beneath them. This room radiates a feeling of hopelessness, as if the very essence of those who suffered here is still trapped within the walls.
- #6Basement: The “Treatment” Chambers
Keys: The Treatment Chambers, Basement
Basement: The “Treatment” Chambers The lowest level of Duskveil Asylum is the most unnerving. Here, in the bowels of the building, experiments became truly inhumane. The corridors are narrow, the ceiling low, making it feel as if the walls are closing in. The doors to the chambers are thick and metallic, reinforced to contain whatever nightmares were conjured here. The air is damp and foul, the sickening scent of decay mixed with mold. Water drips from the ceiling, pooling on the uneven, cracked floors, creating a rhythm that feels unnervingly like a heartbeat. Each chamber is equipped with archaic machinery — devices designed to probe the depths of the human mind. One room houses a large operating table, chains still attached, with rows of surgical tools scattered across the counters. Some of these tools are rusted and others seem almost freshly stained, as if someone or something still uses this place. Strange symbols are scratched into the walls, overlapping, and chaotic, seeming to follow no pattern yet somehow evoking a sense of disjointed madness. At the end of the corridor is a large steel door, bolted shut. A single word is scrawled across it in faded red paint: FORGET. No one knows what lies beyond, but those who have dared to open it have never been the same.
- #7Atmosphere, Ambientconstant
Keys: Atmosphere, ambient
Walking through the asylum feels like stepping into a waking nightmare. Time seems to stand still, and the air is thick with a sense of malice. The building groans with every step, as though it remembers the horrors inflicted within its walls. Flickers of movement can be seen in the corner of the eye, but when you turn to look, there’s nothing — just the oppressive dark. Whispers sometimes echo through the halls, unintelligible yet filled with sorrow and rage.
The further one explores, the more reality seems to unravel. Shadows move of their own accord, and the very structure of the asylum seems to shift and change, guiding intruders deeper into its heart, where the memories of those who were "treated" here still linger, twisted and broken.
Duskveil Asylum is not merely abandoned — it is alive with the weight of its history, a malevolent force in itself, waiting for anyone daring enough to discover the secrets hidden within its cursed halls.
