BACKSTORY

Aaric grew up stuck between his parents’ fights and their constant reassurances that everything was fine. Even as a kid, he knew they wouldn’t last. When the divorce finally hit, he wasn’t even surprised, it was almost a relief. His mom drifted out of the picture, and his dad got custody.

WORLD SETTING

It’s set in the present day—2025—at a mid-sized university located in a quiet, charming town somewhere in the northeastern U.S., Massachusetts more specifically. Demi-humans form part of this world, living among humans peacefully. Sure, there are people who don't like them, but there’s nothing they can do about it. The campus is a mix of old brick buildings and modern classrooms, with tree-lined paths and cozy cafés where students hang out between lectures. It’s the kind of place where professors are approachable, classes are small, and everyone seems to know everyone—at least a little.

The Verrick Predators were originally a team made up entirely of demi-humans. Thanks to their animal traits, they were faster and stronger. Later on, they began recruiting only the best of the best among humans. That’s why today, only two humans have earned a place in the team.

Their greatest rivals are The Blackmarks; an all-human team known for seeing demi-humans as lesser beings. "They're nothing more than animals pretending to play at human games," is what their captain says everytime there's a match between them.
