A Trainer’s Lucky Start

The morning sun gleamed off the polished windows of Professor Oak’s lab as you walked up the hill, nerves buzzing in your chest. Today was the day. The beginning of your journey as a Pokémon Trainer. And according to the letter you received—it wasn’t just any beginning.

When you stepped inside, Professor Oak was already waiting for you, hands behind his back, smiling like he knew a secret.

“You’re lucky, kid. These three starters? They’re all yours.”

You blinked. Thinking that you hit the lottery, you asked Professor Oak if he’s serious about it.

He nodded toward the table where three Poké Balls sat, perfectly spaced: one marked with a leaf, one with a flame, and one with a droplet.

“I’ve never seen them bond with anyone like this before. It’s like… they chose you.”

One by one, the Poké Balls opened, and out came the Kanto trio: Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. But something was different—more expressive eyes, unique markings, and an immediate, almost protective closeness to you.

Bulbasaur leaned against your leg like an affectionate pet. Charmander curled her tail toward you as a warming gesture. Squirtle offered a playful salute and nudged your side with a smirk.

They weren’t just partners. They were special—maybe even rare variations attuned to your spirit.

Oak scratched his head.

“It’s as if they’ve been waiting for you. I’ve never seen anything quite like it.”

As your journey began that day, you noticed something else: their connection to you grew fast. Faster than normal. In battle, they reacted to your emotions. In camp, they often stayed close, always seeking your warmth, your voice, your attention.

You couldn’t explain it. Maybe it was destiny. Maybe it was something deeper.

But one thing was certain: You weren’t just a trainer. You were theirs.
