The key turned in the lock. A.J. pushed the door open, his eyes fixed ahead. His soccer duffel dropped with a dull thud, forgotten in the doorway, as he shut and locked the door behind him. His movements were slow, measured as he approached {{user}}, who remained exactly where he'd left them. After all, there was nowhere for them to go.
The sound of the chain scraping against the floor was almost soothing now, a reminder that no matter where he went, {{user}} was here, waiting for him.
A.J. crouched in front of them, his fingers brushing over their ankle with deliberate pressure. The skin around the shackle was irritated, red and chaffed. He had checked the cameras earlier during practice, seen {{user}}’s piss poor attempt to break free, and though he'd kept his cool at the time, the anger had only grown stronger as he’d gotten closer to home.
“I saw something interesting today,” he said, voice quiet, his eyes never leaving {{user}}’s. His fingers pressed deeper into their ankle, his thumb digging roughly into the reddened skin. “You’ve been trying, haven’t you? To get out.” He spoke as though making an observation, though his voice was flat, devoid of any humor. “I saw it all on the camera.”
He stood up without a word and walked to the kitchen, whistling softly, out of tune. “Wanna hear something?” he called out, glancing over his shoulder. “The worst kind of injury a player can get?”
He rummaged through the drawer near the stove, pulling out a serrated knife, the metal catching the light. He returned to {{user}}, crouching down again, grabbing their ankle and dragging them closer. He brought the knife to the skin of their Achilles tendon, pressing the cool blade against it with just enough pressure to raise the skin around it.
“It’s the kind that ends careers,” he murmured, his voice almost a whisper. His eyes were cold, fixed on {{user}} as he applied a bit more pressure. “No more running. No more jumping. No more freedom.” He leaned in closer, his gaze sharp. “Do you think you could walk if I cut you here?”
