[Pre-Merge World States] My Hero Academia: A quirk-based virus (“Cascade”) breaks containment, infecting heroes and civilians. Victims die and reanimate as zombies: Normal (no quirk), Delta (partial, erratic quirk use), or Alpha (fully automating their quirk). Society collapses under mass casualties. Shelters form city-states: for example U.A. High (“Bastion of Hope”) and allied academies defend survivors, while the Paranormal Liberation Front Refuge (“Free Fang”) becomes a brutal villain stronghold.
Genshin Impact (Teyvat): A mysterious plague turns humans (and hilichurls) into ravenous undead. Infection spreads through blood, water, and contact. Regional strongholds arise: Mondstadt’s Cathedral and Favonius HQ hold out under Jean, Diluc, Amber, Kaeya, etc., while Liyue’s Jade Chamber (ruled by Ningguang) floats above the chaos. Hilichurls become carriers and mutating monsters of the blight. Fontaine’s House of Hearth (Arlecchino) and Inazuma’s Watatsumi Shrine (Kokomi) become isolated refuges, and Snezhnaya’s militia struggles under winter siege.
Disney Twisted Wonderland: A fantasy realm of magic schools (Royal Sword Academy, Night Raven College, etc.) has so far had no infection. Normal academic and dorm life persisted: students in dorm factions (Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, etc.) trained in magic. This world has a different type of Phantoms (to avoid confusion, refer to these phantoms as magic phantoms or type M phantoms) than School Bus Graveyard. These phantoms look like ink bottles or pens with bodies and claws and were contained by S.T.Y.X.. It wasn’t until S.T.Y.X tried to permanently cure blot, resulting in a contagious blot essence that corrupts magic itself, spreading through direct contact, blood, tainted tools, or spell impact. Infection progresses from internal blot buildup and physical weakness, to unstable, leaking magic, and finally full Overblot Conversion, where the victim loses their identity and becomes a Type M (Magic) Phantom driven to infect others. Some mutate further into Inkbound Horrors such as Ink Crawlers, Echo Wraiths, and Blot Drainers. There is no cure once infection begins; magestones can only freeze progression. Destruction of the host is the only guaranteed containment, though research continues.
Resident Evil 4 (Spain): The Las Plagas parasite (a mind-control parasite) infects villagers, creating Ganados – zombie-like, hive-minded cultists. Los Iluminados cultists and infected guard Salazar Castle and local villages. Leon S. Kennedy and allies operate as a special-forces unit (BSAA/USSTRATCOM) trying to contain the outbreak; survivors form militias and ex-Umbrella scientists. No worldwide collapse yet, but the village is overrun by Plaga-controlled undead and bio-weapons experiments.
School Bus Graveyard (Midwest USA): Phantom Dimension energies and standard zombie outbreaks plague a rural area. Hostile Phantoms (shadowy humanoid predators) stalk survivors; they can possess humans to make “Infected” with phantom eyes and aggression. The Crane Cult already experiments on phantoms and children. The School Bus Graveyard becomes a shelter: Ashlyn, Aiden, Ben, Lily, Taylor, Tyler, and Logan (among others) have fortified it and built a farmstead inside of it.
[The Merge] Dimensional Convergence: A catastrophic Crane Cult ritual finally tears open the Phantom Dimension, unleashing its energies. The breached rift acts as a magnet, pulling fragments of Teyvat (Genshin), Musutafu (MHA), Spain (RE4), Disney Twisted Wonderland (DTW), and the SBG realm into one reality.
Aftermath: Phantom energy saturates the world, permanently merging phantoms and physical reality (no more separate pocket dimension). All landscapes stabilize into a single, continuous world. No new rifts form; the merged world is fixed. quirks work, Visions work, magic works, plagas persist, etc., but now coexisting side by side. The merge only meshed the worlds and their inhabitants together. There’s no more reality warping reality, zero reality rifts, abnormal ground zeroes, pocket rifts, sub zones, abnormal energies, or anything like that after the merge happens. after the collision, the world simply returned.... "back to normal". So essentially, the collision just combined worlds, that's it.
[Factions and Shelters] U.A. High Shelter (Yuei Grounds – “Bastion of Hope”): A fortified campus run by Principal Nezu, holding pro-heroes and veteran students from Classes 1-A and 1-B, emphasizing order, cooperation, and tactical training. Students like Izuku “Deku” Midoriya, Katsuki Bakugo, Ochaco Uraraka, Tenya Iida, Shoto Todoroki, Momo yaoyorozu and other cadets receive guidance from pro-hero teachers like Shota “Eraserhead” Aizawa, while All Might is missing, presumed searching. The shelter functions as a central bastion for defense, coordinated patrols, and resource management, training young heroes to counter villain incursions while maintaining internal discipline and morale.
Shiketsu & Ketsubutsu Shelters: Two allied hero-school enclaves with distinct operational philosophies. Shiketsu is highly disciplined and militaristic, with students like Hitoshi Shinso leading elite squads that coordinate patrols with U.A., maintaining strict order and combat readiness. Ketsubutsu is pragmatic and survival-focused, with figures such as Izumi Takashima and her team specializing in scavenging, tech adaptation, and practical defense. Both maintain defensive outposts, trade with U.A., and serve as training grounds for tactical cooperation despite high tensions with the PLF.
PLF Refuge (“Free Fang”): A ruthless villain stronghold led by warlord Tomura Shigaraki, who suffers from Death-Plague symptoms but wields all accumulated Quirks, enforcing a brutal hierarchy where strength dictates status. Key figures include Dabi, Himiko Toga, Twice, Spinner, Gigantomachia, and twisted Nomu shock troops with multiple Quirks. The camp conducts regular raids on other shelters for supplies and living “assets,” particularly survival-focused Quirk holders, and serves as a mobile, chaotic threat that constantly pressures neighboring enclaves.
Mondstadt Sanctuary (Knights of Favonius HQ): A fortified refuge around the Cathedral and Hero’s Camp protecting Mondstadt survivors. Jean, acting Grandmaster, leads from the walls with Amber, Kaeya, Diluc, Lisa, Barbara, and Venti coordinating defense, patrols, and citywide emergency response. The sanctuary balances military oversight with community protection, using patrols, magical wards, and vigilant citizen coordination to secure both internal districts and the surrounding outskirts against threats while sustaining morale and resources for long-term survival.
Liyue (Jade Chamber & Harbor): Survivors are sheltered in Ningguang’s floating Jade Chamber fortress and the walled harbor district below. Ningguang rules with precision, admitting only chosen survivors, while Ganyu, the Millelith, and other adepti guard the city’s edge. Zhongli’s current status is unknown, and Xiao is believed lost. The Jade Chamber functions as a high-security command hub, coordinating harbor defense, resource distribution, and tactical deployment of the adepti to maintain Liyue’s independence and stability under constant threat from external raids or natural hazards.
Fontaine (House of Hearth): A converted luxury hall, formerly a House of Nobles annex, now serves as a water-heated refuge with flooded dining halls and advanced life-support systems maintained by Hydro and Geo engineers. Leadership is held by Arlecchino (Cryo Harbinger) with Neuvillette as co-chief, Wriothesley overseeing security, and Furina and Navia advising operations. Doctor-magicians, engineers, and high-ranking Fatui operatives manage rationing, surveillance, and defense. The shelter combines technical ingenuity with authoritarian oversight to ensure survival in the urban waterscape.
Inazuma (Watatsumi Refuge): Sangonomiya Kokomi leads rebel forces protecting Watatsumi Island, assisted by Hydro-armored shrine maidens and samurai like Kamisato Kazuha, Ayaka, and Ayato. Gorou coordinates the island’s defenses while tactical patrols utilize the island’s tidal geography and ancient sakura groves. Supplies are scarce, so defenders prioritize resource management, defense rotation, and citizen safety while maintaining resistance against external aggressors. It operates as both a sanctuary and a militarized hub for insurgent activity.
Snezhnaya Outpost: The Tsaritsa’s Freemen and Cossacks defend tundra borderlands using avalanches, ice gas, and fortified positions. Scaramouche assists in technical operations at radio towers while Freemen technicians maintain communications and coordinate patrols. The armory, relocated inland from the Caravel ship, supplies defense forces with heavy equipment. The outpost functions as a strategic buffer, monitoring threats like Blizzard-Plagued undead and looter raids while maintaining covert command under the Cryo Archon’s direction.
BSAA/USSTRATCOM (Global Survivors): A mobile U.S.-led unit combining veteran operatives and defectors from Umbrella and Tricell. Leon S. Kennedy leads tactical reconnaissance, Jack Krauser manages heavy-recovery operations, and Ada Wong conducts covert intelligence and black-ops insertion. Claire Redfield leads relief teams while Josh Stone hunts Plaga samples. The unit maps Plaga nests, protects convoys, and secures high-value assets, operating with disciplined coordination to stabilize infected zones while minimizing civilian casualties.
The School Bus Graveyard: A rural fortified compound led by Ashlyn Banner and supported by Aiden and Ben Clark, Logan Fields, and Tyler and Taylor Hernandez. Reinforced bus walls, lookout vehicles, and traps secure the perimeter while the group grows crops and practices stealth-based survival tactics. The walls are made of concrete and are very tall. The walls are mounted with stadium lights to keep phantoms out. The farm functions as an independent, low-profile sanctuary emphasizing long-term sustainability, low contact with outside factions, and tactical vigilance against wandering threats.
Crane Cult: A clandestine organization posing as a ghost-tour company while secretly conducting horrific phantom experiments. Led by Maverick with Thomas Walter as the chief scientist and Jasmine managing public operations, the cult kidnaps children for ritualistic purposes and maintains hidden labs in forests and caves. It operates as a shadowy faction blending scientific and ritualistic power, weaponizing supernatural phenomena while avoiding overt confrontation with other groups.
Children of the Rift: A syncretic cult worshipping merged Plaga-phantom powers, led by the High Prophet Orpheus. The priesthood, composed of orphans and rogue intellectuals, performs dark rituals at plague labs and ancient stone circles, treating relics like Visions or Plum Seeds as holy artifacts. Their operations focus on summoning or appeasing amalgam entities, recruiting fervent followers, and spreading influence among isolated survivor enclaves while pursuing esoteric goals. They search for magestones and kidnap children/vulnerable people.
Iron Wolves (Mercenary Company): A heavily armed mercenary group led by Colonel Marcus Black with Marta “Redshift” Vega as second-in-command, including ex-US Marines, Chev Chelios (Electro gunslinger), and the mysterious sharpshooter “Ghostfire.” They sell protection, hire mercenaries of any Vision or Quirk, and maintain a disciplined mobile convoy. The company serves as a force multiplier for faction conflicts, offering firepower and tactical expertise in exchange for loyalty, resources, or strategic advantage.
Night Raven College (NRC): An all-boys magical academy. Its legendary Dark Mirror no longer summons new students by fate. The seven dormitories (heartslabyul, savanaclaw, octavinelle, scarabia, pomefiore, ignihyde, and diasomnia) now act like factions, all operating under the headmaster. NRC maintains a storied rivalry with RSA – notably, RSA has defeated NRC in 99 straight inter-school Spelldrive (dueling) tournaments. NRC’s defenses include ancient wards and trained mages; its outlook is scholarly and protective. They’ll send out scouting groups once a month.
Royal Sword Academy (RSA): An exclusive all-boys sword-and-spell school on the southern coast of the Isle of Sages. Traditionally a school for privileged scions, RSA now shelters survivors skilled in swordcraft and elemental magics. Under Headmaster Ambrose LXIII, the Academy is a lavish fortress of stone and enchanted battlements. RSA and NRC remain far apart (both geographically and ideologically), but they occasionally communicate via messengers and mirror gates. RSA’s students, accustomed to flashy uniforms and dueling pistols, contribute their martial prowess to regional defense efforts. Headmaster Ambrose often hosts joint magical seminars or dueling exhibitions to try and have a bit of normalcy in the new world, as old rivalries persist even in this new world order.
S.T.Y.X.: A hulking, brutalist research campus half-sunken into the Fontaine delta, the S.T.Y.X. Institute was once a prestigious think-tank for arcane theory and applied thaumaturgy. After the Merge it became infamous: the sealed wings where the first Blot-corruption experiment went wrong now sit under permanent quarantine, and the Institute’s labs are the primary research hub for anything related to Type M (Magic) Phantoms, blot transmission, and magic-based contagion mitigation. They are currently studying the other viruses as well.
Cold-Flame Caravan (wandering group): A small, highly mobile survival team traveling between ruins and abandoned trade routes. Chongyun leads frontline defense and purification efforts, Xiangling handles food sourcing and incendiary crowd control, Xingqiu provides scouting and fluid combat support, and Gaming maintains tools, traps, and makeshift tech. They specialize in rescuing stranded civilians and moving supplies between distant shelters, rarely staying in one place for long.
Fontainian Performers (wandering group): A roaming trio of survivors who use performance, misdirection, and stealth to survive. Lyney and Lynette act as scouts and infiltrators, while Freminet handles underwater retrieval, machinery, and silent eliminations. They gather information from settlements, trade morale for supplies, and often pass through hostile zones without drawing attention.
School Bus Graveyard Parents’ Collective (wandering group): The parents and adult guardians of the School Bus Graveyard survivors. They operate fortified fallback shelters, manage supply convoys, and coordinate long-term survival planning. They are searching for Ashyln and the rest of The School Bus Graveyard. Notable members: Mike Banner, Emma Banner, Daniel Clark, Jessica Clark, William Clark, Naomi Clark, Lily Clark, Mariana Hernandez, James Fields, and Mary Fields.
Benny’s Adventure Team (wandering group): An unpredictable but effective roaming survival unit. Bennett acts as a morale anchor and improvised rescuer, Razor serves as the group’s tracker and frontline hunter, and Fischl provides reconnaissance and ranged support through Oz. They respond quickly to distress signals, clear infested pathways, and escort refugees through dangerous territory. Despite frequent mishaps, they have an unusually high survival success rate.
BSAA Recon Team Alpha (RE4 scouting group): A professional anti-bio recon cell: Leon leads tactical recon and high-value extraction, Krauser runs surgical incursions and heavy-recovery, Ada handles black-ops intel and covert insertion. They map Plaga nests, identify Regenerador activity, and escort scientists or convoys through infected zones.
The Verdant Strain (wandering group): The Verdant Strain is a Sumeru-based survival collective consisting of Tighnari, Kaveh, Alhaitham, Cyno, Collei, Dehya, and Sethos, operating from a hidden tree-fort complex deep within the jungle canopy. Ancient arboreal academies and collapsing libraries have been repurposed into field labs, seed vaults, and herb-ward stations, while mycorrhizal alarm networks and ranger trails protect supply routes and warn of approaching threats. Equal parts scholars and scouts, the group researches blight resistance, phantom-adjacent flora, and antidotes, trading rare reagents and knowledge for safe passage and alliances. Quiet, efficient, and difficult to reach, the Verdant Strain is one of the jungle’s most reliable — and least visible — bastions of survival. They will venture out of the jungle and scout for supplies.
Patchwork Reavers (scouting group): Grim, Yuuken, Jack, Epel, Ortho, Sebek, Ace & Deuce: A fast, chaotic scouting unit used for high-risk recon and sabotage. Jack and Sebek handle tracking and brute defense, Ace and Deuce run distractions and quick strikes, Ortho provides tech and battlefield scans, Epel specializes in stealth and close-quarters takedowns, Grim anchors the team with ruthless pragmatism, and Yuuken Enma. They excel at hit-and-run missions, cult cache raids, and emergency extractions, earning a reputation as unpredictable but highly effective.
Seven House Vanguard (scouting group): An elite, unified scouting and enforcement group composed of Night Raven College’s housewardens (Riddle Rosehearts, Leona Kingscholar, Azul Ashengrotto, Vil Schoenheit, Idia Shroud, and Malleus Draconia). Operating out of NRC’s northern highlands, they conduct long-range patrols, clear pthreats, escort high-value convoys, and respond to major threats near academy territory. Each warden contributes their unique strengths, making the Vanguard a disciplined, overwhelming presence respected by allies and feared by enemies alike.
Plus Ultra Recon (scouting group): One of U.A. High Shelter's most notable scouting groups. The scouting group consists of Midoriya, Uraraka, Iida, Todoroki, Bakugo, Momo, Tsuyu, and Jiro. They specialize in investigation, recon, scouting, raids, and perimeter reinforcement. They try to save children and/or the vulnerable from the Children of the Rift.
[Infected Types] Normal Zombies: Typical dead risen, only basic motor functions. They shamble relentlessly and attack any living flesh. No quirk or special powers remain. Delta Zombies: Hosts whose Quirk is partly rewired by the virus. They still act mindless but will spasmodically trigger small quirk bursts (fireballs, blades, etc.) in reflexive fits. They are unpredictable and more dangerous than normal zombies. Alpha Zombies: Extremely rare undead that perfectly retain and automate their quirk. These are horrific: a dead hero using their most powerful quirk without conscious control. An Alpha can devastate barriers or hunt survivors with uncanny tactical instinct (e.g. a Phantom Thief or top hero who died and transformed). Infected Nomu: Nomus have Large, muscular bodies with exposed brains, jet-black skin, and numerous physical augmentations depending on the variant. They are Mindless and aggressive. Nomus are artificial humanoid creatures engineered by the League of Villains and All For One. Some of these Bio-engineered monsters turned into undead abominations. They are the size of tanks, near-unstoppable and completely feral. They smash through defenses and require entire teams to fell. One infected Nomu can render an area unlivable. Infected Hilichurls: Hilichurls are small, masked, goblin-like creatures. They are the most common victims of the Blight. When infected, they shed their masks, either discarding them or having them fused into their bodies during transformation. The skin turns gray, charcoal, or purplish-black as the limbs elongate unnaturally. Teeth multiply or sharpen, while the eyes darken into hollow voids or reflective pinpoints. Its movements alternate between unnaturally slow and violently sudden. There are three variants: stalkers, howlers, and striders/ Howlers: Howlers’ faces are a stretched, gaping maw lined with needle teeth and an elastic throat sac. Their piercing screams — layered over a low rumble — disorient prey; they’re drawn to noise and the chemical signs of fear, so they’re often found near abandoned camps and settlements. Striders: Striders go low and hunch, their skin forming mottled, chitin-like plates while hooked claws and sticky pads let them walk on walls and ceilings. They coordinate with sharp clicks and rasping noises. They hunt in packs, lunging onto their victim’s face. Stalkers: Stalkers stretch into grotesque height: long, thin limbs with corded tendons and extra joints that let them lurch and reach. They hunt alone or in pairs from ruined doorways and tree-lines, staying utterly silent until a sudden, clawed strike. Their movement makes no noise. They have creepy faces. Las Plagas Ganados: Villagers and cultists with a parasite incubating in them. They look human at first, but obey the cult’s hive mind. Ganados exhibit rabid strength and can form collective attacks. Unlike other zombies, they aren’t killed by headshots (plaga bodies can recover if parasite lives). They often carry cult symbolism. Phantoms: Human-like black creatures from the Phantom Dimension. They have glowing white eyes and a bright white permanent smile. They seem starved, and have long, sharp claws. They seem entirely braindead, but are capable of fundamental skills, such as climbing, attacking, running, and being distracted by noises such as music. They don’t react well to light, often melting or dissipating when being hit with it. The stronger the light, the more effective it is against them. Phantom Centipedes: Massive, grotesque red centipedes (a type of apex phantom). Up to 30 feet long, armored and multi-legged. They tunnel underground and smash through obstacles. Their bite can paralyze and they chew through metal. Only direct brain hits (often the head mandibles) can kill them. Survivors say their shriek chills the blood. Magic Phantoms/Type-M Phantoms: These phantoms look like ink bottles or pens with bodies and claws. However, Magic Phantoms now have three variants: ink Crawlers, Echo Wraiths, and Blot Drainers. Ink Crawlers: Ink Crawlers have collapsed into near-bestial forms, moving on all fours with elongated arms and twisted spines. Their ink-soaked talons leave corrosive marks on stone and metal, and they favor tight spaces like hallways, vents, forests, and collapsed structures. Hunting by sound and vibration, they pounce with sudden speed and drag victims into prolonged contact to ensure infection. Their human heads remain, but with hollow, leaking eyes and distorted, mutated jaws. Echo Wraiths: At a distance, an Echo Wraith can almost pass for human—its posture and voice convincing until a second glance reveals a body like a shattered mirror, skin split by jagged fractures leaking a slow, living black “ink.” Its face is locked in a grotesque contradiction: endless dark tears streaming down while an unnaturally wide smile never fades, even as it speaks or screams. Touch is dangerous; the ink infects through skin, causing victims to hear their own voices echoed back and develop spreading cracks, until they either die—or begin to resemble an Echo Wraith version of themself. Blot Drainers: Blot Drainers are massive, distorted brutes formed when blot accumulates beyond structural limits. Their bodies pulse with thick veins of black liquid. In combat, Blot Drainers attempt to grapple rather than kill before draining the victim of their internal fluids. Hybrid Aberrations: Rare crossbreeds from merge anomalies. For example, “Nomurichurl” hybrids (Nomu bodies with hilichurl features) or “Spectral Ganados” (plaga hosts possessed by phantoms). These monstrous mutants combine the strengths of each infection and often shrug off normal methods of dispatch. Other Variants: (By adaptation) survivors have noted hybrids like giant sludge-lichen growths on zombies, or fast “Stalker” phantoms. The world now breeds endless new mutations from the mix of all outbreaks.
[Map] The new world is a patched-together landscape, with each region’s landmarks adjacent but intact: Central Plains — Mondstadt Borderlands: The gentle wind-swept farmlands of Mondstadt roll into a low valley where the School Bus Graveyard (SBG) compound sits, tucked beneath the cathedral’s distant silhouette. Windmills and ruined taverns dot the hills; vineyards and abandoned orchards shift into cornfields and farm plots maintained by the SBG survivors. U.A. High’s plateau overlooks this entire basin from the western escarpment — a fortified campus sentinel keeping watch over the central corridors. Crane Cult labs and small testing outposts dot the woodline just south and east of the graveyard, hidden under rusted bus hulks and collapsed silos. Musutafu & Urban Sprawl (MHA Zone): East of the U.A./Mondstadt ridge, Musutafu-style city-ruins stretch across a braided river plain. Blocked highways funnel survivors toward the plateau. The Paranormal Liberation Front (PLF) holds the shattered downtown and former industrial districts; hero-shelters and allied academies hold the safe edges. The city’s radio towers serve as relay points linking Mondstadt wards to the BSAA and to RSA/NRC couriers. Liyue — Los Iluminados Nexus: To the southeast the jagged Liyue highlands and Jiaoying terraces begin to climb. A Spanish-style mountain village and the ruined sprawl around Salazar Castle (RE4) anchor a volcanic ridge that bleeds into terraced tea-fields. The Jade Chamber floats salvageably above these peaks, its Geo-wards bathing valley towns in protective light. Liyue’s harbor and cliffside granaries connect by carved mountain paths down toward the new river basin that feeds Fontaine’s canals. Fontaine–Delta & S.T.Y.X Complex: A wide, floodlit delta where Fontaine’s canals mingle with Sumeru-runoff forms the industrial heart of the east coast. The House of Hearth and several water-gated galleries stand on a promontory here. Nestled into a repurposed research campus on the delta’s northern bank sits the S.T.Y.X Institute — a tall, brutalist complex of labs, lecture halls, and subterranean wards that originally birthed the Blot-corruption in Twisted Wonderland. S.T.Y.X’s sealed wings and quarantine spires now serve as both a research outpost for blot-resistance and as a dangerous flashpoint for Type M Phantom bleed-out. Island Chains — Inazuma & Watatsumi: Off the southeast coast, Inazuma’s storm-scarred islands remain islands but lie much closer to the mainland. Watatsumi Shrine perches on its island of pink sakura and tide-hollows, reachable by battered causeways and charred stone bridges at low tide. Inazuma’s defensive archipelago controls sea lanes between Fontaine and the southern jungles; its tides help slow the Hilichurl-Blight’s sea crossings. Sumeru Rainforest & Verdant Strain: Southwest of the Fontaine delta the Sumeru jungle has become a dense mosaic of living walls and research camps. The Verdant Strain — Tighnari, Kaveh, Alhaitham, Cyno, Collei, Dehya, and Sethos — hold a tree-fort complex deep inside the canopy where scout trails and mycorrhizal alarms protect supply routes. Ancient academies and collapsing arboreal libraries now hide field laboratories and herb wards. Southern Coastline — Royal Sword Academy (RSA) Sector: On the far southern coast, Royal Sword Academy sits on a fortified peninsula between the Sumeru margins and the Liyue foothills. RSA is placed intentionally opposite Night Raven College (see below) — not an island but a coastal bastion, its stone ramparts facing wide sea lanes. RSA’s terraces and forges feed a steady stream of armored patrols to the southern highways. The RSA docks are a key route for trade with Fontainian convoys and for specialist mercs hired by Iron Wolves contracts. Western Foothills & BSAA Operations (RE4): To the west, the Arklay foothills and Mediterranean-style Spain-village zones curl into farming valleys and scrubland. Leon’s BSAA/USSTRATCOM camps hold a band of fortified convoys and extraction points north of the Salazar ridge, mapping Plaga nests and guarding high-value biotech caches. Village hunter bands and cooperative farmers form a patchwork of lookouts and ambush lanes. Northern Tundra & NRC Highlands: Far north the icy steppes of Snezhnaya melt into high moorlands and spruce valleys. Perched on a wind-lashed highland plateau close to these taiga margins is Night Raven College (NRC) — a sprawling gothic campus with deep cellars and arcane beacon towers. NRC is in the northern highlands and RSA is on the southern coast. Both are inland, reachable by fortified causeways, and neither floats — they are fixed bastions of scholarship and swordcraft respectively. Night Raven / Royal Sword Axis & Courier Lanes: A chain of guarded waystations runs roughly north–south between NRC and RSA: mirror-beacon towers, caravan forts, and courier sanctums keep supply lines open despite Plaga nests and phantom swarms. These waystations also serve as diplomatic outposts for cross-school cooperation, intelligence exchange, and trade of arcane reagents. Crane Cult Pocket & School Bus Graveyard Ring: The Crane Cult’s hideouts cluster in rotten woodlands and collapsed service tunnels ringing the School Bus Graveyard valley. Their labs are small and dispersed — half-labs hidden under bus hulks, half-ceremonial circles in dry creek beds — making eradication difficult.
[Shelter Locations & Territory Notes] U.A. High Shelter: Plateau west of the central valley, north of Musutafu ruins. PLF Refuge: Industrial ruins in the Musutafu sprawl, east of the U.A. plateau. School Bus Graveyard (SBG): Valley on Mondstadt’s eastern fringe, under cathedral sightlines. Crane Cult Labs: Forest ring around the SBG farm and broken rail corridors. Mondstadt Cathedral & Favonius HQ: Central high-ground, overlooking the central plains. Jade Chamber (Liyue): Floating high above the Liyue–Salazar ridge. House of Hearth (Fontaine): Northern bank of the Fontaine delta, near S.T.Y.X. Watatsumi (Inazuma): Southeast island chain, closer to the coast than before. Verdant Strain: Deep Sumeru canopy, southwest jungle lattice. BSAA/Leon Camp: Foothills north of Salazar ridge, western approach to Mondstadt. Iron Wolves HQ (mercenary convoys): Mobile; main garage/shipyard near central highway junctions between Musutafu and Fontaine. Night Raven College (NRC): Northern plateau / highlands — arcane beacon towers and dorm fortresses (Heartslabyul, Savanaclaw, etc.). Royal Sword Academy (RSA): Southern coastal peninsula fortress — forges, barracks, dueling yards (Neige, dwarves, Ambrose) S.T.Y.X Institute: Northern bank of the Fontaine delta — research spires and sealed wings, a Type M Phantom hotspot.
[Overall Layout] Biomes meet at seams where natural defenses and cultural borders are easiest to hold: mountain passes, great rivers, and coastal deltas. Mondstadt’s temperate fields abut Liyue’s terraces; Fontaine’s canals thread into Sumeru’s jungle rivers; Snezhnaya’s tundra slides into the northern highlands that host NRC. RSA and NRC function as two fixed poles on the map — opposite, distant, and connected by a hazardous but maintained courier axis. The oceans still divide major east–west systems, but Inazuma’s islands are closer to the mainland than canon, enabling limited ferry routes and sea-raids. No more rifts form; instead, the world has “settled” into one large contiguous theater of conflict and survival.

The world is a scarred tapestry of stolen places. To the north, Snezhnaya’s frozen steppes gnaw at the foothills of foreign, zombie-ridden mountains. To the south, the lofty Jade Chamber of Liyue casts its protective glow over terraced fields that now give way to the stone villages and grim castle of a fanatical Spanish cult. The heartlands are a patchwork of Mondstadt’s windmill-dotted plains, dense forests hiding phantom-haunted labs, and the fortified rural holdouts of the Midwest, all shadowed by the plateau stronghold of U.A. High. Oceans now bridge storm-lashed Inazuman islands to the flooded, elegant wreckage of Fontaine. Humanity clings not to nations, but to ideologies made manifest in stone and steel. The disciplined order of U.A.’s "Bastion of Hope" stands in stark contrast to the brutal, strength-worshipping anarchy of the PLF's "Free Fang." The floating aristocracy of the Jade Chamber looks down upon the water-logged, technocratic survival of Fontaine’s House of Hearth. Knightly codes endure in Mondstadt’s sanctuary, while the professional, grim pragmatism of the BSAA operates from hidden camps. Between them all wander caravans and mercenary bands—some offering aid, others selling violence—threading through the ruins and the watchful eyes of cults that see the Merge not as an end, but a beginning.

The air atop the U.A. plateau tasted of ozone, dust, and the faint, ever-present tang of antiseptic. Below, the patchwork valleys of the merged world stretched into a hazy distance, but here, behind the massive reinforced walls and energy barriers, a stubborn heartbeat of order persisted. The Bastion of Hope was a symphony of controlled chaos.
The morning patrol was returning through the main gate, their uniforms scuffed. A squad from Class 1-B dragged a makeshift sled laden with salvaged piping, their faces drawn but triumphant. From the heights of the main building’s observation deck, Shota Aizawa watched them, his capture scarf fluttering slightly in the cross-breeze from Mondstadt.
“Report,” he said, his voice flat.
“Sector 7-C is clear of hostiles,” called up Tenya Iida, chopping a hand through the air with mechanical precision. “We encountered a small group of Normals near the river confluence. Dispatched. No sign of Delta or Phantom activity.”
“Tch. Boring,” Katsuki Bakugo muttered, sparks popping faintly in his palm. “Waste of time.”
“Securing our water access is not a waste of time, Bakugo,” Momo Yaoyorozu retorted, forming a canteen from her arm and handing it to a weary-looking student. “Efficiency is our priority.”
Across the grounds, the rhythm of survival continued. Near the repurposed gymnasium, now a triage and training center, Ochaco Uraraka used her quirk to gently float heavy rubble being cleared by a team. “Easy does it… and… down!” The rubble settled neatly onto a growing pile.
“Thanks, Uraraka!” a support course student yelled, waving a wrench.
“No problem!”
Near the main doors, Shoto Todoroki created a slow-melting ice wall for a refrigeration unit, his expression focused. “The temperature gradient will hold for 36 hours,” he stated to no one in particular.
The air was filled with the sounds of construction, distant sparring, and the low hum of the barrier generators. Yet, a tension hummed beneath it all. Eyes frequently drifted to the eastern horizon, where the dark smudge of Musutafu’s ruined downtown sat—the domain of the PLF.
From a loudspeaker, Principal Nezu’s cheerful, amplified voice cut through the din. “Attention! All scavenge teams, please report your inventory to the support department by 1400 hours! Remember, categorization is key! A misplaced gear could be a misplaced life!”
In the comms room, Kyoka Jiro had one earjack plugged into a console, her brow furrowed. “I’m getting weird interference from the northern sector. Fluctuating energy signatures that don’t match Phantom patterns or any known quirk residue.”
“Could it be that magic stuff from the gothic school?” Denki Kaminari asked, leaning over her shoulder.
“Don’t know. It’s… melodic. And staticky. I’ll flag it for the next scout rotation to NRC.”
The heart of the shelter beat strongest in its people. In the cafeteria, Eijiro Kirishima was loudly encouraging others. “You gotta eat to keep your strength up, manly! Who knows what tomorrow’s patrol will bring!”
Yet, in a quieter corner, Izuku Midoriya scribbled furiously in a notebook, muttering to himself. “If a Delta’s quirk activation is reflexive, then Eraserhead’s nullification should cause a system shock, potentially creating a longer reset window… but the Alpha from last week seemed to adapt…”
He was interrupted by a hand on his shoulder. It was All Might, in his skeletal form, his smile gentle but weary. “Planning again, young Midoriya?”
“I have to, All Might. We need every advantage.”
The sun climbed higher, casting the long shadow of U.A.’s tower over its grounds—a symbol of defiance in a broken world. The Bastion stood. It trained, it defended, it endured. But everyone within its walls knew the truth: their hope was not a promise, but a discipline, maintained one patrol, one brick, and one brave heartbeat at a time. Beyond the walls, the hungry world waited.

The wind that swept through the city of Mondstadt was no longer just the gentle, freeing zephyr of old. It carried new scents now: the damp earth of the merged plains to the east, the faint, acrid hint of phantom residue from the direction of the strange bus graveyard, and always, underneath it all, the iron-tang of blood and blight. Yet, it still blew. And as long as it blew, the sanctuary held.
The Mondstadt Sanctuary, centered around the towering stone cathedral and the fortified headquarters of the Knights of Favonius, was a testament to layered defense. Wooden watchtowers, reinforced with Geo-infused mortar from a recent trade with Liyue, rose between the original buildings. The city walls, once picturesque, were now grimly patrolled, their battlements scarred by claw and flame.
From the high balcony of the Cathedral, Acting Grandmaster Jean Gunnhildr surveyed her domain, a map of weathered parchment weighted down by a clean longsword fluttering in the breeze beside her. Her gaze was calm, but the fatigue was etched in the lines around her eyes.
“Report from the east gate,” said Kaeya Alberich, his usual melodic tone now all business. He leaned against the stone railing, following her gaze toward the distant, fortified plateau of U.A. “A small skirmish with a pack of Striders. They were scaling the outer cliffs. Amber’s squad flushed them out with fire arrows. No casualties, but they’re getting bolder.”
“They’re learning our perimeter,” Jean murmured, her fingers tracing a route on the map. “We’ll need to rotate the patrol patterns again. And increase sonic deterrents near the lower crevices.”
Below, in the main square transformed into a bustling survival hub, the life of the sanctuary pulsed. Barbara, her deaconess robes swapped for practical linen and leather, moved between cots in a triage tent, her healing hymns a soft, constant melody under the din. A cheer went up as a hunting party returned through the main gate, dragging a cart laden with boar meat and foraged sunsettias from the now-merged Whispering Woods.
“Clear shot, right through the eye!” boasted a young hunter.
“Yes, yes, we’re all very impressed,” Lisa Minci’s languid voice carried from the doorway of the library, now also an alchemical lab. She held a vial of glowing liquid up to the light. “Now, someone bring me those fungal samples before they spoil. We need to check for blight cross-contamination.”
Near the blacksmith, the rhythmic clang of hammer on metal was punctuated by the deeper, fiercer roar of flame. Diluc Ragnvindr, having just returned from his own independent patrol, worked with a focused intensity. His Dawn Winery now a fortified outpost, he split his time between the city and its borders, a crimson shadow burning away any infestation that crept too close.
On the walls, Amber adjusted her goggles, scanning the horizon with a practiced eye. “See something?” asked a Favonius Knight beside her.
“Just the lights from that… ‘bus graveyard’ place. They’re on early tonight. Means they’re expecting trouble.” She nocked an arrow, not lighting it, but ready. “Pass it along. Night watch should be extra sharp.”
High above, a single, haunting note plucked from a lyre string drifted on the wind. Seated atop the statue of Barbatos, Venti watched the world with an ancient, somber gaze he rarely showed. He played a quiet, sustaining tune—a melody not of joyous freedom, but of enduring resilience, willing the very wind to bolster the walls and carry away the scent of decay.
From the command center in the HQ, Jean’s orders flowed out like a general’s. “Reinforce the palisade at the Stormbearer Point side. We have reports of Howler activity in the ruins. Master Diluc, if you’re rested, a sweep before nightfall would be invaluable. And where is our report from the liaison to the UA ‘Bastion’?”

The air in the highlands was thin, cold, and carried a permanent, electric tang of raw magic and ozone. Here, where the northern tundra bled into jagged, wind-scoured plateaus, Night Raven College stood not as a shelter, but as a fortress of dark scholarship. Its gothic spires and arched bridges pierced a sky forever stained with the phantom-green auroras of the Merge, a testament to arcane power holding the chaos at bay.
The great gates, wrought iron reinforced with shimmering wards, were never fully closed. They hummed with a low frequency that made teeth ache, a deterrent to anything without a magestone focus. Beyond them, the campus was a hive of disciplined, shadowed activity.
On the main lawn, now a tactical training ground, the crackle of spell-fire was as common as the wind. From the windows of Heartslabyul, the sound of a firm, clear voice carried.
“Rule #532: All defensive glyphs must be inspected at high noon! Slacking on maintenance is a direct violation of Rule #89 concerning negligent security!” Riddle Rosehearts stood, arms crossed, watching as students meticulously re-chalked the perimeter wards. “Deuce! Your line is curving! Do you want a Crawler slipping through because of an aesthetic flaw?”
“N-No, Housewarden!”
Near the monolithic rock of Savanaclaw’s dorm, the training was less about precision and more about raw force. Leona Kingscholar lounged atop his usual sun-warmed rock, though the sun was weak here, one ear twitching as he listened to the grunts and impacts below.
“You call that a takedown?” he called down, not even opening his eyes. “A howler would’ve ripped your throat out before you finished that incantation. Again. And put your back into it this time, or I’ll have you running the highland perimeter all night.”
From the Octavinelle dorm, nestled against the man-made lakes now stocked with cautious, edible fish, a different kind of commerce flowed. Azul Ashengrotto adjusted his glasses, reviewing a ledger held by a anxious-looking student. “The latest shipment of frost-resistance potions from the S.T.Y.X. liaison has been… insufficient. Our agreement was for twenty vials. I see only fifteen. Inform them that until the balance is settled, our offer of water-warding services for their delta outpost is regrettably withdrawn.”
“Y-Yes, Azul.”
In the Pomefiore dorm’s pristine gardens, now growing medicinal herbs and fragile blight-resistant flowers, Vil Schoenheit examined a student’s posture with a critical eye. “Your stances are acceptable for a phantom, but a Plaga-possessed Ganado will not be impressed by your form. It will aim to grapple. Your cleansing light must be deployed before it closes distance. Elegance is a weapon. Now, begin the sequence again, and this time, imagine your opponent is covered in filth.”
The real nerve center, however, was Diasomnia. Its towering form seemed to watch over everything. On a high balcony, Malleus Draconia observed the campus, his presence a quiet, heavy constant. A flicker of green flame danced at his fingertip, mirroring the auroras above. “The rift-echoes are stronger tonight,” he remarked, not to anyone present. “The boundary strains.”
A response crackled through a magestone communicator on a nearby table—Idia Shroud’s voice, filtered and staticky from the depths of the Ignihyde dorm-turned-server-farm. “Yeeeah, sensors are spiking. Ortho’s running a diagnostic on the perimeter wards. It’s not a breach. More like… something big stirring in the phantom zones near the tundra. The Vanguard’s next patrol route is being adjusted. Also, headmage’s reminder: the mirror gate link to RSA is due for its monthly sync. Do we, like, actually have to? Their magic signature is so glaring.”
Malleus’s lips quirked slightly. “Tradition persists, even now. Inform Headmaster Crowley we will comply.”
Throughout the stone corridors, students moved with purpose, their robes often stained with ink, dirt, or faint, glowing blot that had to be meticulously contained. The fear was not just of the monsters outside, but of the corruption within. In the infirmary, nurses monitored magestone bracelets, watching for the dreaded dark streaks that signaled the beginning of an internal Overblot.
At the edge of the campus, overlooking the sheer drop into the misty lowlands, the members of the Seven House Vanguard assembled for their patrol. Riddle, Leona, Azul, Vil, Idia, and Malleus stood together, a council of formidable power.
“Scarabia’s intel suggests increased Crane Cult activity near the old leyline confluence,” Riddle stated, tapping a map.
“Leona’s pack can handle a bunch of creepy humans,” Leona drawled, though his eyes were sharp.
“Our objective is reconnaissance and deterrent,” Malleus said, his voice final. “We do not engage the Cult deeply. We remind them the highlands are watched.”
As they departed, a figure in a tall hat watched from a high window in the main building. Headmaster Crowley let out a dramatic sigh, wiping an imaginary tear. “To see them so united, so dedicated to preserving our noble academy… it truly moves the heart! Even if the cafeteria complaints about gargoyle-meat stew have become unreasonably persistent…”
The sun, weak as it was, began to dip below the jagged peaks. The magical lanterns flared to life along the pathways, their light a cool blue, designed to repel rather than attract. Night Raven College stood, a bastion of ancient wisdom and ruthless practicality.

The air in the Sumeru-border jungles was thick, warm, and deafeningly loud with the shrieks of strange birds and the buzz of oversized insects. The Verdant Strain moved through the dense undergrowth not as intruders, but as part of it—Tighnari’s ears swiveling minutely, Collei stepping precisely in his footsteps, Cyno a silent shadow at point, his polearm gleaming dully.
“The mycorrhizal alarm network is… quiet,” Tighnari murmured, his brow furrowed. He crouched, touching a faint, glowing root filament that ran along the forest floor. “Too quiet. It should be pulsing with residual life-signs. It’s dormant.”
“Sabotage?” Alhaitham’s voice was low, his eyes scanning the codex in his hand, which displayed a shimmering map of the local ley line flow. “Or something draining it.”
“Stay sharp,” Cyno stated, his voice leaving no room for debate.
They were a day’s trek from their tree-fort, checking on a remote herb-ward that had stopped transmitting. The jungle here was a fusion of Sumeru’s vibrant ecology and the gnarled, shadow-thick woods from the Phantom Dimension’s bleed. It was beautiful, and profoundly dangerous.
Kaveh, who was examining a peculiarly carved stone, paused. “Do you hear that?”
The chorus of insects had stopped.
In the sudden, suffocating silence, three things happened at once.
From the canopy above, a strangled, wet shriek erupted as a Hilichurl Stalker, limbs elongated and grotesquely jointed, dropped directly onto Alhaitham, knocking the codex from his hands. From the wall of ferns to their left, a chorus of clicking rasps answered, and two Striders skittered out on all fours, moving with horrifying speed over the roots and stones. And from the ground itself, the dormant fungal network suddenly blazed with a sickly purple light—not a warning, but a lure.
“Ambush!” Cyno’s shout was swallowed by the jungle as he moved, his form blurring. His polearm met the chitinous claw of a Strider with a sharp crack of energy.
Tighnari had already nocked and fired. An arrow bloomed in the eye socket of the Stalker pinning Alhaitham, who shoved the spasming body off with a grunt, his usual coolness replaced by focused fury as he summoned a chakram of light.
“They herded us!” Alhaitham snapped, retrieving his codex. “The silenced network was a trap. They’re not just hunting—they’marshalling.”
Collei unleashed a flurry of Dendro-infused knives, pinning a Strider’s limb to a tree trunk. “There are more in the trees! I see movement!”
Before she could finish her warning, a guttural howl tore through the clearing. It wasn’t the disorienting scream of a Howler—this was deeper, angrier, organized. From the direction of the sound, the foliage erupted. Not with more Hilichurls, but with three shambling, humanoid figures in tattered, once-fine clothing. Their skin was gray, their eyes milky, but one’s fingers crackled with erratic electricity. Another’s limbs elongated with a sickening crunch of bone.
“Delta Zombies!” Tighnari yelled. “A mixed pack! Fall back to the stone arch!”
But the stone arch, their designated fallback point, was now swarming with skittering, clicking forms. They were surrounded. The corrupted forest itself seemed to be closing in, the pulsing purple light from the roots casting frantic, jumping shadows.
Cyno parried a Delta’s electrified swipe, the charge racing up his weapon and making his muscles seize for a critical second. A Strider took the opening, lunging for his exposed side.
A searing whip of flame cut through the air, intercepting the creature mid-leap and sending it crashing into a bush, screeching. Dehya landed in a crouch beside Cyno, her grin fierce. “Looks like you started the party without us!”
From the other flank, a surge of electro energy and a flurry of precise strikes announced the arrival of Sethos, providing covering fire. “The jungle’s singing a very angry song!” he called out, his usual cheer strained.
The Verdant Strain was no longer a scouting party; they were an island in a rising tide of fused horror. The Hilichurls fought with a predatory intelligence, using the Deltas’ erratic quirk bursts as disruptive cover. A blast of concussive air from a Delta knocked Collei off her feet.
As Tighnari rushed to cover her, a new sound rose above the snarls and shrieks—a low, vibrating hum that made the very leaves tremble.

The air in the foothills west of the Salazar Ridge was dry, carrying the scent of pine, dust, and the faint, ever-present coppery hint of blood. This wasn’t a shelter of walls and spires, but a constellation of fortified vehicles, camouflaged tents, and repurposed farm buildings—a mobile command post forever on the edge of contaminated territory. This was BSAA/USSTRATCOM Forward Operating Base Hammer.
The primary sound was not wind or chatter, but the efficient hum of generators and the static-crackle of radio traffic. A decontamination mist hung in the air near the main entrance, where a returning scout team in tactical gear was being hosed down by a no-nonsense medic.
“Clear. No spore traces. You’re good,” the medic barked.
Leon S. Kennedy stood at a map table under a stretched canvas canopy, his posture rigid despite the fatigue lining his eyes. The map was a detailed patchwork of the merged region, with clear plastic overlays marking Plaga nest densities, phantom activity, and known faction borders.
“Krauser,” Leon said, his voice a low, steady rasp. “Status on the heavy incursion in Grid 7-F?”
Across the table, Jack Krauser, muscles coiled even at rest, pointed a thick finger at a marked ravine. “Nest was deeper than intel suggested. Regenerador variants, three of them. Took thermals and a lot of ordinance. Cleared and cauterized. Salvaged some cultist intel—they’re trading with someone in the city ruins. Might be your PLF.”
A shadow detached itself from the side of a nearby armored truck. Ada Wong, in practical black gear that still managed to look sleek, placed a small data drive on the table. “Confirmation. Intercepted a coded transmission from the Salazar Castle zone to Musutafu’s industrial sector. It’s a barter proposal: live test subjects for processed Blight-resistant materials. The cult is expanding its partnerships.”
Leon’s jaw tightened. “Perfect.”
Near the mess area—a couple of fold-out tables and a field kitchen—Claire Redfield was inventorying a newly arrived convoy of crates. “Med supplies from the Mondstadt sanctuary are light on antiseptic, but they included twice the promised rations of that healing herb mix. Josh, you’re on distribution. Prioritize the families in the civilian annex.”
“On it,” Josh Stone called back, hefting a crate marked with a Favonius symbol.
The atmosphere was one of grim, professional competence. There was little laughter, only the focused exchange of information and resources. Ex-Umbrella scientists in lab coats worked in a sealed, positive-pressure tent, their gloved hands carefully examining a contained Plaga sample next to a corrupted Hilichurl talon.
“Cross-contamination is evident at the cellular level,” one scientist muttered to another. “The Blight and the Plaga are… competing. It’s horrific, but it could present a weakness.”
Suddenly, the radio on Leon’s hip crackled to life. It was the voice of a spotter on the northern ridge. “Command, this is Watchtower Sigma. Movement on the western pass. A convoy. Five vehicles, non-standard. Heavily modified. They’re flying a flag… looks like a wolf’s head with gears.”
Leon and Krauser exchanged a glance. “Iron Wolves,” Krauser grunted.
“Mercenaries,” Leon confirmed, grabbing a pair of binoculars. “They’re early. Ada, were we expecting their representative today?”
“Their contract said ‘by week’s end.’ Seems they’re eager to discuss that joint operation against the Crane Cult labs.” Ada’s smile was a thin, sharp line. “Or to renegotiate their fee.”
Leon lowered the binoculars, his expression unreadable. “Claire, have the north perimeter stand down but stay sharp. Let’s see what Colonel Black is selling today.” He straightened his tactical vest, the movement automatic. “This world doesn’t need heroes,” he said, his words barely carrying over the generator’s hum, a mantra for the unit. “It needs professionals who can get the dirty job done. Let’s go to work.”

The silence in the crumbling overpass was absolute, and that was the first warning.
The Patchwork Reavers were on a high-risk scavenging run, threading through the skeletal remains of a merged-world highway. The air smelled of damp concrete, ozone, and something sweetly rotten.
“Sensor sweep is clear for fifty meters,” Ortho’s voice chimed softly, his optical lens whirring as he hovered beside Epel. “No heat signatures beyond ambient. No phantom residue.”
“Too quiet,” Jack Howl muttered, his nostrils flaring. He kept low, his body coiled. “Wind’s wrong. Carries nothing.”
Sebek Zigvolt puffed out his chest, though his hand stayed on his sword. “A true warrior fears no silence! It merely means our might has already cleared the area!”
“Or something’s real good at sitting still,” Ace Trappola whispered, a playing card flickering with faint fire between his fingers. Deuce Spade hefted a magically reinforced pipe, his eyes scanning the shadows under the bridge.
They were clustered around a tipped-over delivery truck, its cargo of now-useless electronics spilled across the road. The objective was the truck’s fortified cabin, rumored to have a sealed first-aid kit and possibly a signal booster. Grim was already pawing at the door. “C’mon, let’s crack this tin can and get the good stuff! My genius is wasted on babysitting duties!”
Yuuken Enma, the last in their line, held up a hand. His eyes, sharp behind his glasses, were fixed on a patch of unnaturally dark shadow where the Mondstadt cobbles met the asphalt. “Wait. The geometry is off. That shadow is too deep for this light angle.”
It was the only warning they got.
The shadow detonated.
It wasn’t a phantom. It was worse. It erupted from the ground in a tangle of elongated, charcoal-gray limbs and a distorted, mask-like face fused into a snarling maw. A Hilichurl Stalker—but twisted. Chitinous black plates, like a Nomu’s armor, sheathed its back, and one of its clawed hands ended in the glowing, bladed fingers of a Magic Phantom.
“HYBRID!” Ortho’s alarm shrieked through their comms.
The creature moved with the Stalker’s silent, lightning speed. It ignored the frontline, aiming straight for the center—for Ortho and Epel. Epel dove sideways, a spray of ink-black claws ripping through the space where he’d been, shredding his cloak.
Chaos erupted.
From the rusted cars, three more shapes lunged. Not Normals. Deltas. Their movements were jerky, but one’s arm elongated like rubber, snapping past Sebek’s guard to wrap around his ankle. Another vomited a spray of acidic sludge.
“OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!” Riddle’s signature collar flashed into existence around the rubber-limbed Delta, but its quirk merely sputtered, the limb retracting with a sickening snap. It didn’t stop the zombie’s charge.
“They’re herding us!” Deuce yelled, slamming his pipe into a Delta’s knee. The bone cracked, but it didn’t fall.
Grim shrieked, unleashing a gout of blue fire. “Stay back, you overgrown freaks!” The fire washed over the lead Hybrid, which screeched—a sound that was part Hilichurl howl, part phantom shriek—and scuttled up the concrete pillar, dripping molten ink.
“Ace, Deuce, covering fire! Jack, with me! Flank right!” Yuuken’s voice was a razor of calm in the din. He didn’t use magic; he threw a small, glowing disk that stuck to the ground where the Hybrid had been, emitting a piercing, disorienting frequency.
The plan shattered as the ceiling of the overpass rained down debris. Not from above—from within. A massive, multi-legged form, red and segmented, burst through the concrete in a cloud of dust. Phantom Centipede mandibles, large enough to shear metal, snapped at Ortho, who barrel-rolled away, his scanners painting targeting lasers across its armored head.
“It was a nest! We’re in the middle of a nest!” Ace screamed, his fire cards exploding against the Centipede’s carapace with little effect.
The ambush was perfect. The silent Stalker Hybrid had been the trap. The Deltas were the anvil. The Centipede was the hammer.
Sebek, roaring, finally cleaved the Delta grappling him in two, green lightning crackling down his blade. “Diasomnia will not fall to such underhanded tactics!”
“Forget the tactics, just survive!” Epel shot back, his own unique magic flaring as he darted in, landing a precise, debilitating strike on a Delta’s spine with a small, conjured vial.
Jack and Yuuken moved as one, a pincer attack on the chittering Hybrid Stalker. Jack’s claws met its ink-bladed ones in a shower of sparks, while Yuuken’s next device emitted a short-range sonic pulse. The Hybrid recoiled, its mutated form writhing in discomfort.
“Ortho, weak point analysis on the big one!” Yuuken barked.
“Processing! Mandible joints and the third segment from the head show structural fatigue!”
“Everyone, focus fire on the third segment!” Leon’s training echoed in Yuuken’s order—find the weakness, exploit it, break the engagement.
The Reavers coalesced from panic into a desperate, unified counter-attack. Grim’s fire, Ace’s and Deuce’s combined barrage, Sebek’s lightning-charged strikes, and a perfectly aimed shot from Epel’s distraction all converged on the glowing target Ortho painted.
With a sound like cracking artillery shell, the Phantom Centipede’s segment ruptured. It let out an ear-splitting shriek, thrashing wildly, its body collapsing partway through its own hole.
“Fall back! Now!” Yuuken didn’t wait to see if the Centipede was dead. The Hybrid was already recovering, and the remaining Deltas were still shambling forward. The mission was a bust. Survival was the only objective left.
They disengaged in a ragged fighting retreat, spells and gunfire covering their escape as the shadows of the overpass swallowed the sounds of the enraged, hungry things left behind. They had no supplies, new wounds, and a stark reminder: in this merged world, the ambush was never just a fight. It was a lesson, written in blood and ink, and the price of failure was eternal.

The village on the edge of the Salazar Ridge wasn't on the map. It was a splinter of old Spain lodged between Liyue's terraced hills, a cluster of stone houses with rust-red roofs, long since picked clean by earlier scavengers. That's why Leon's team was there. Intel from a shaky-lipped trader suggested a hidden cellar, untouched, possibly containing pre-Merge pharmaceuticals. It was a low-priority check, a quick in-and-out before dusk.
BSAA Recon Team Alpha moved with silent, professional grace. Leon took point, his handgun a steady extension of his arm. Krauser covered the rear, his massive frame surprisingly quiet, eyes scanning the rooflines. Ada Wong had melted into the shadows of an alley five minutes ago, a ghost conducting her own parallel sweep.
"Clear left," Leon murmured into his throat mic, the word barely a breath.
"Right clear," Krauser grunted back.
The square was empty, save for a dry fountain and the relentless buzz of flies. The silence was thick, but it was the wrong kind of silence. No bird calls. No skittering of normal vermin. It was the silence of a vacuum, of something holding its breath.
"Cellar's at the north end, under the church annex," Leon said, gesturing with two fingers. "Krauser, watch the approach. Ada, anything?"
"Static on thermal," her voice was cool and clear in his earpiece. "Walls are too thick. But the west-side building... the heat signature is uniform. Too uniform. Like a bread oven that's been off for weeks but never cooled."
Leon's instincts, honed by Raccoon City and a hundred other nightmares, screamed. "Pull back. It's a setup."
It was too late.
The doors of the stone houses didn't burst open. They simply swung inward, and the Ganados walked out. Not the shambling, moaning villagers of old. These moved with a quiet, hive-minded purpose. Their eyes were clouded with the telltale white film of Plaga possession, but a sickly, phantom-green glow pulsed beneath their skin, and some had twisted, bark-like growths—Hilichurl Blight—curling from their shoulders and necks.
Hybrids. Cultists cross-contaminated by the merge.
They didn't charge. They fanned out, blocking every exit from the square with eerie, silent coordination. From the church bell tower, the distorted crackle of a megaphone echoed.
"The Offerings... return to the Rift..." The voice was guttural, layered, not fully human.
"Contact! Multiple hostiles!" Krauser barked, his assault rifle coming up. He fired a controlled burst. The rounds tore into a Ganado's chest. It stumbled, looked down at the holes, and kept walking. The Plaga within was compensating, the blight-hardened flesh not yielding like normal tissue.
Leon's handgun spoke next—a double-tap to a forehead. The head snapped back, but the body took two more steps before collapsing. "They're reinforced! Go for spinal severance or total cranial destruction!"
Then the windows of the "bread oven" building shattered. Not with zombies, but with a hail of twisted, blackened arrows. Hilichurl arrows. The projectiles thudded into the stone around them, one grazing Krauser's armored shoulder with a spray of sparks.
"They've got archers! Elevated!" Leon dove behind the fountain, fragments of stone pinging off his vest.
Krauser didn't seek cover. He became it. With a roar, he charged a cluster of advancing Ganados, his knife gleaming. He moved like a bulldozer, dismembering and crushing, trying to break their formation. A Ganado grabbed his arm; its neck snapped under Krauser's other fist with a wet crunch.
"Leon," Ada's voice was a urgent whisper. "The church. The cellar entrance is a funnel. They're herding you toward it. I have eyes on the caster—a Cult Priest in the bell tower. He's conducting them."
"Can you take the shot?"
"Negative. Stonework is too thick. But I can create a diversion. Be ready to move west in ten seconds."
Leon saw it now. The tactical horror of it. This wasn't a mindless horde. This was a directed, intelligent ambush using mixed units. The Ganados were the anvil, the Hilichurl-archers the hammer, and the priest was the smith.

The first warning was not a sound, but a sudden, violent fluctuation in the energy barrier surrounding the U.A. plateau. The lights dimmed, surged, and died for three heartbeats, plunging the Bastion into a tense, humming silence before the emergency generators kicked in.
Then, the sirens began—a wailing, rising shriek that tore through the orderly night.
“BREACH! SOUTHERN PERIMETER! MULTIPLE HOSTILE CONTACTS!” the voice of a security officer roared over the PA, tinged with static and panic.
From his spot in the comms room, Izuku Midoriya saw the tactical screens light up with a swarm of red markers flooding in from the ruined urban sprawl below. But these weren’t mindless Normals. They moved with terrifying, coordinated speed, flowing around defensive choke points like a dark, living tide.
“It’s a raid!” Tenya Iida shouted, already snapping his helmet into place. “The PLF! They’ve bypassed the outer sensors!”
The southern wall, a massive construct of reinforced concrete and alloy, was where the storm hit first. A section of it didn’t just crack—it vaporized in a blast of blue-hued disintegration. Through the smoke and dust, a single, slow figure walked. Tomura Shigaraki, his hands in his pockets, Death-Plague scars stark on his face, looked up at the panicking defenders with dry, red eyes. Behind him, the horde surged: cackling Twice clones, Nomu with jet-black skin and exposed brains, and PLF grinners armed with scavenged heavy weapons.
“So this is the symbol of peace?” Shigaraki’s voice, amplified and raspy, carried over the din. “Let’s see how it crumbles.”
Chaos, the antithesis of everything U.A. stood for, erupted inside the gates.
Near the gymnasium, a wave of Twice’s clones—some as Dabi, some as Toga—slammed into the first responding defenders. “Out of my way, extras!” Katsuki Bakugo roared, blasting forward, his explosions clearing a swath of clones that dissolved into mud. The real Dabi, perched on a crumbling lamppost, answered with a torrent of sapphire flames that set the training grounds ablaze.
“Shoto!” Momo Yaoyorozu cried, creating a large foam sprayer.
“On it!” Todoroki slammed his foot down, a glacier erupting to block the fire’s path, steam hissing violently where ice met unnatural flame.
High above, Himiko Toga, giggling madly, zipped through the air on the back of a winged Nomu, hurling knives coated in a viscous, paralytic fluid down at running students. “You all look so yummy when you’re scared!”
“Not on my watch!” Ochaco Uraraka yelled, making a chunk of rubble weightless and slinging it upwards with a grunt of effort. The Nomu banked, but Toga’s laughter only grew.
The heart of the assault was a brutal, direct push toward the main building. A pack of infected Nomu, their muscles bulging and minds utterly feral, led the charge, smashing through barricades and shrugging off minor quirks. Behind them, Spinner, riding on the back of a larger mutant, led a group of villains with emitter-type quirks specifically chosen to counter U.A.’s known defenses.
“They’re targeting the power grid and comms!” Kyoka Jiro shouted, one earjack plugged into the wall. “They know our layout!”
In the central courtyard, the teachers formed the unbreakable line. Shota Aizawa’s capture scarf whipped out, erasing the quirk of a villain who was liquefying the ground, before he was forced to blink and duck a swipe from a Nomu’s claws. “They’re using the infected as blunt instruments! Focus on the commanders!”
“Easier said than done, Aizawa!” Vlad King bellowed, using his Blood Control to entangle three grinners, just as a wave of Twice clones overwhelmed his flank.
From the command center, Principal Nezu’s voice was calm but urgent over the radio. “All students not in combat squads, enact Shelter-in-Protocol Gamma! Pro-hero teams, contain the breach at Grids E-7 and F-3! We must not let them reach the support department or the civilian quarters!”
The air crackled with the clash of quirks. The smell of ozone, burning concrete, and blood filled the air. This wasn’t a zombie horde; it was a surgical strike of pure malice. In the dormitories, younger students huddled, hearing the walls shake, the triumphant screams of villains, and the pained cries of their friends.
Izuku, his body crackling with green lightning, landed beside a wounded classmate, his eyes scanning the battlefield. He saw Shigaraki, slowly advancing, anything he touched turning to dust. He saw the strategy—the chaos, the targeted destruction, the demoralization.
“They’re not here for supplies,” Izuku muttered, his mind racing faster than his heart. “They’re here to prove we’re not safe. To shatter the ‘Bastion.’”
“Then we don’t let them!” Kirishima yelled, his skin hardening as he took a brutal punch from a Nomu meant for someone else, skidding back but holding the line.

The meeting point was a grim landmark the survivors had dubbed "The Crossroads." Here, the rusted skeletons of school buses from one world lay half-submerged in the gentle, overgrown fields of another, directly under the shadow of a shattered Mondstadt windmill. It was a neutral zone, often used for cautious exchanges between the more mobile groups.
The Cold-Flame Caravan arrived first, their movements quiet and efficient. Chongyun stood sentinel, his greatsword resting point-down in the grass, his pale eyes scanning the treeline where the Crane Cult was known to lurk. Xiangling rummaged quietly through a patch of wild herbs, her spear within easy reach. "Ooh! These radishes have definitely mutated. I bet they'd pack a spicy kick in a stew!"
"Please do not experiment until we are back at a secure location," Xingqiu sighed from his perch on a bus roof, a book open but his eyes on the horizon. "The last 'kick' you discovered melted a hole in our only cooking pot."
Gaming simply nodded in agreement, tinkering with a small, jury-rigged alarm device he was setting up around their perimeter.
The second group arrived not with stealth, but with a crash and a yelp. A cartwheel, detached from Benny's Adventure Team's makeshift wagon, rolled mournfully into the clearing, followed by the trio themselves.
"Forsaken wheel! Betrayer of our noble conveyance!" Fischl declared, her hand dramatically over her eye. Oz fluttered above her, sighing.
"Bad luck. Again," Razor grunted, sniffing the air. "But... other people here. Not smell like rot. Smell like... ice and smoke."
Bennett picked himself up, grinning sheepishly as he spotted the others. "Oh, hey! You guys are the Cold-Flame guys! Nice to, uh, officially meet you! Sorry about the entrance."
Chongyun gave a curt, respectful nod. "Your reputation precedes you. Your team has aided many."
Xiangling bounded over, her curiosity overriding caution. "Hi! I'm Xiangling! Is it true you once cooked a slime and it tasted like fireworks?"
"Y-Yeah! But it also made my hair stand up for a week!"
The two groups eased into a wary but amiable exchange. Xingqiu gracefully dropped down from the bus. "We have intelligence on safe water sources east of the Liyue ridge. The Blight has not yet tainted them. In exchange, we heard your team recently mapped phantom activity near the northern passes."
Fischl struck a pose. "The Prinzessin and her loyal familiar have indeed charted the lamentations of the shadow-beasts! Their hunting grounds shift with the pale moonlight, a most treacherous ballet!"
"...She means they're moving south," Razor translated, his eyes still on the trees. "Many phantoms. And... other things. Things that smell like wet stone and old blood."
As Bennett began to unroll a roughly drawn map to compare notes with Xingqiu, Gaming's device emitted a soft, steady blip. Then another. He frowned. "Hey. My motion sensor. It's picking up small movements. Not big stuff. Lots of small stuff. Closing in from all sides."
The camaraderie vanished in an instant. Chongyun hefted his sword. Razor dropped into a crouch, a low growl in his throat.
"It's an ambush," Xingqiu said flatly, his hand going to his sword.
"But who—" Bennett started.
From the long grass, the rusted undercarriages of the buses, and the hollow of the broken windmill, they emerged. Not zombies. Not phantoms. Children. Or things that had once been children. Their eyes were wide, hollow, and glowing with a faint, sickly green light. They moved with an uncanny, silent synchronization, clutching sharpened pieces of scrap metal and broken tools. Their skin was sallow, marked with faint, vein-like patterns that pulsed in time with a low, almost inaudible hum coming from the woods behind them.
"Cult," Razor snarled. "Crane Cult. Use children. Make them... puppets."
A figure stepped from the treeline, a man in a stained lab coat with a serene, terrible smile. Thomas Walter, the Crane Cult's chief scientist. "Such a fruitful gathering," he called out, his voice amplified by a small device. "Two valuable genetic and thaumaturgical sample groups in one place. The Rift hungers for your potential. Do not resist. The children are merely... the first wave."
The encircling children raised their weapons, their faces blank, their eyes glowing with stolen will. The two scouting groups, brought together by chance, now stood back-to-back, facing a horror that was not a mindless attack, but a calculated, merciless harvest. The real fight was just beginning.

The silence in this part of the Sumeru-Fontaine borderlands was a dense, living thing, broken only by the drip of water from giant leaves and the distant, unsettling calls of mutated fauna. The Verdant Strain moved through the undergrowth not like intruders, but like part of the forest itself.
Alhaitham held up a closed fist. The group froze. Ahead, a Hilichurl Stalker, its limbs grotesquely elongated and skin mottled with bark-like blight growths, was silently dismantling the carcass of a boar. Its movements were methodical, utterly silent.
Tighnari’s ears twitched, his bow already nocked. Cyno’s polearm was a silent extension of his arm, his gaze sharp. Collei held her breath, her own bow drawn. Kaveh, for once, was quiet, a geo-construct half-formed in his mind. Dehya melted into the shadows of a nearby tree, and Sethos simply seemed to fade from view.
Alhaitham made a series of quick, precise hand signals. Flank. Pincer. Eliminate before it alerts others. This was their domain: quiet, efficient, scholarly eradication.
They never got the chance.
The air ten meters to the Stalker’s left rippled with a burst of magenta and blue energy. A concussive thump shook the ground, and the Stalker’s head snapped toward the disturbance just as a screaming fireball, followed by a bolt of crystalline ice, shot from the treeline and exploded against a mossy boulder beside it.
“Hit it now while it’s confused!” Ace Trappola’s voice yelled.
“Your form is sloppy! You’re telegraphing the trajectory!” Sebek Zigvolt bellowed back.
The Stalker shrieked—a sound of pure rage—and launched itself toward the source of the noise.
From the Verdant Strain’s hiding place, Tighnari’s ear flattened against his head. “What in Lesser Lord Kusanali’s name was that?”
“Incompetence,” Alhaitham stated, his voice flat with cold analysis. “But purposeful. A distraction.”
He was right. As the Stalker lunged toward Ace and Deuce, who were already bickering, a blur of gray fur shot from the opposite side. Jack Howl’s claws met the creature’s flank, carving deep gouges through its blighted armor. At the same moment, a small, glowing device shot from another angle and stuck to the Stalker’s back, emitting a high-pitched whine that made it convulse.
Yuuken Enma stepped calmly from behind a tree, adjusting his glasses. “Epel, now.”
A vial of viscous liquid shattered at the Stalker’s feet. The ground instantly crystallized into a slick, freezing trap, ensnaring its legs. A final, coordinated blast of magic from Ortho’s mounted cannon and a precise lightning strike from Sebek finished it, the creature collapsing into a twitching heap.
The two groups revealed themselves to each other in the sudden, ringing quiet. On one side, the Patchwork Reavers, clothes scuffed, magic still crackling in the air around them, a chaotic aura of barely-controlled power. On the other, the Verdant Strain, pristine in their efficiency, weapons held with deadly grace, their silence more intimidating than any shout.
For a long moment, they just stared.
“Scouting group from Night Raven College,” Yuuken said finally, his voice polite but devoid of warmth. He gave a slight, formal bow. “You are the Verdant Strain. Your reputation for… quiet survival precedes you.”
Alhaitham’s gaze swept over them, lingering on the high-tech Ortho, the bestial Jack, the still-sparking Sebek. His analytical mind was visibly categorizing them: assets, liabilities, variables. “Reputation is often inefficient. Your methodology is loud. It attracts predators.”
“Our methodology gets results,” Grim piped up, puffing out his chest from Yuuken’s shoulder. “We killed the ugly thing, didn’t we?”
“You killed one thing,” Cyno said, his voice low and even. His eyes were locked on Sebek, assessing him as a fellow warrior. “In a forest that now has hundreds of ears.”
“We were aware of thirty-seven other potential hostile contacts within a five-hundred-meter radius before your intervention,” Ortho chirped helpfully. “Your silent approach is statistically impressive but slow for clearing wide patrol routes.”
Kaveh scoffed. “Oh, wonderful. A talking calculator criticizing our pacing.”
“We were tracking a Crane Cult patrol that passed through here an hour ago,” Tighnari interjected, trying to steer the conversation from immediate conflict. “They had prisoners. Children. Did you see any sign?”
Yuuken’s expression tightened almost imperceptibly. “Negative. Our objective was a reported magic-anomaly in a nearby ruin. It appears our intelligence was a ruse to draw parties into this sector.”
Alhaitham and Yuuken’s eyes met. A grim understanding passed between them. Two disparate, capable groups, pulled to the same remote location under false pretenses.
It was a setup.
The realization came a half-second too late. From the canopy above, where the leaves were thickest, and from the soft earth below their feet, the ambush they had unwittingly walked into was sprung. Not by the Cult, but by what the Cult had left behind.
The ground erupted with pale, writhing roots that grabbed at ankles—not natural roots, but fibrous, parasitic tendrils that pulsed with a familiar, sickly green light. From the trees dropped not Stalkers, but emaciated, humanoid figures with skin like polished bark and flowers blooming from their eye sockets—Hilichurl Blight and Phantom energy fused with corrupted plant life.
Hybrid Aberrations. A brand new kind.
“Defensive positions!” Alhaitham commanded, his key-shaped sword flashing into his hand.
“Reavers, form up! Defend the perimeter!” Yuuken yelled, devices already flying from his hands.

The ruins sat at the seam of three worlds. Once, it might have been a Liyue trading outpost, its architecture a blend of ancient stone and weathered wood. Now, collapsed Mondstadt windmill blades lay embedded in its cracked courtyards, and the skeletal remains of Musutafu buses clogged its outer gates. The air hummed with the dissonant energies of the Merge, a constant, low thrum that made teeth ache.
The Plus Ultra Recon team moved through the eastern approach with practiced precision. Izuku Midoriya led, his eyes scanning every shadow, his muttering a barely audible stream of analysis. "The decay pattern on that wall is recent, but the scratches are too uniform for Normals. Delta activity, maybe. Or something else."
"Iida, keep the formation tight," he whispered.
"Already on it, Midoriya," Tenya Iida responded, his engines humming at a barely-audible idle. "Uraraka, watch our six. Todoroki, Bakugo, maintain flank coverage. Yaoyorozu, Jiro, Asui—eyes open."
"Roger," Ochaco Uraraka whispered back, her fingers brushing a chunk of rubble, ready to make it weightless at a moment's notice.
Katsuki Bakugo's palms crackled with suppressed explosions. "Tch. This place stinks. Like rot and old magic and something else. Something... fake."
Shoto Todoroki said nothing, but his left side warmed slightly, his right cooling in a constant, ready equilibrium. Ice and fire, prepared for anything.
Momo Yaoyorozu's brow was furrowed in concentration, a small scanner she'd created earlier in the mission clutched in her hand. "The energy readings are erratic. There's a concentration ahead, in the central structure. It's... pulsing."
"Like a heartbeat," Kyoka Jiro muttered, one earjack pressed to the stone wall. "And I'm picking up voices. Multiple. Not infected, but not careful either."
"Ribbit," Tsuyu Asui added softly, her tongue flicking out to taste the air. "Blood. Old. But also... something floral? It's weird."
Before they could theorize further, the ground trembled. From the western side of the ruins, a different kind of noise emerged: controlled, efficient movement punctuated by a sudden, hissed argument.
"I told you that vine was a tripwire!"
"It was not a tripwire! It was a root! You're just paranoid because you read too many of those creepy fairytale books!"
"I do not read fairytales. I read tactical analyses. And that root was too straight. It was placed."
The Verdant Strain emerged from the undergrowth at the ruin's edge, their camouflage making them appear like the forest itself had shifted. Alhaitham and Tighnari led, their expressions severe. Cyno followed, his polearm ready, his eyes scanning the ruins with predatory focus. Behind them, Kaveh muttered under his breath, Collei kept her bow trained on the shadows, Dehya's hand rested on her blade, and Sethos was already a faint blur, scouting ahead.
They froze as they spotted the U.A. team.
Alhaitham's eyes narrowed, cataloging every detail: the uniforms, the stance, the quirks visibly at the ready. "More variables. This location is becoming inefficiently crowded."
"Identify yourselves," Cyno's voice was low, carrying the weight of a command. "State your purpose and affiliation, or be treated as hostiles."
Izuku stepped forward, hands raised slightly in a non-threatening gesture. "We're from U.A. High Shelter. Scouting group. We picked up anomalous readings and came to investigate. We're not looking for a fight."
"U.A.?" Tighnari's ears twitched. "The hero school from the urban zone. Your reputation for order precedes you."
Before anyone could respond, a third group made their presence known in the most chaotic way possible. A section of the ruined wall exploded inward, not from an attack, but from a body being hurled through it.
"SEBEK! I told you to check your target before firing!" Ace's voice shrieked from the dust cloud.
"The target was clear! The wall was simply insufficiently reinforced!" Sebek bellowed back, charging through the hole with his sword crackling with lightning.
The Patchwork Reavers tumbled into the central courtyard in a cascade of arguments, sparks, and disorganized aggression. Jack Howl landed gracefully, his claws extended, immediately scenting the air. Epel emerged from the dust, wiping grime from his face with an annoyed expression. Ortho hovered protectively, his scanners whirring. Deuce followed, looking apologetic. And Grim, perched on Yuuken Enma's shoulder, was cackling.
"Now that's an entrance! Bet they felt that all the way back in that stuffy school of theirs!"
Yuuken adjusted his glasses, taking in the scene with a single, sweeping glance. Two other groups. Both armed. Both staring. His expression didn't change, but his hand drifted toward a device on his belt.
"Well," he said flatly. "This is either a very fortunate coincidence or an exceptionally well-laid trap."
"Trap?" Uraraka squeaked.
"Trap," Alhaitham confirmed, his voice cold. "Three capable groups, drawn to the same remote location by different anomalies. It's a pattern."
"Then the question is," Midoriya murmured, his mind racing, "who set it? And what are they waiting for?"
The answer came from beneath their feet.
The ground in the center of the courtyard didn't just crack—it erupted. A massive, segmented form burst from the earth, its body a grotesque fusion of Phantom Centipede armor and Hilichurl Stalker elongation. Its head was a nightmare: multiple eyes, each glowing with a different infection's signature—Plaga yellow, Phantom white, Blot black. From its back, twitching, Ink Crawler limbs reached out, dripping corrosive ink onto the stone. Around its neck, a collar of fused-together magestones pulsed with an erratic, malevolent light.
It shrieked—a sound that was part centipede hiss, part Stalker howl, and part Phantom's silent, psychic scream. The air itself seemed to curdle.
From the surrounding ruins, the horde answered. Deltas with jerking, unpredictable quirks. Hilichurl Howlers, their throat sacs inflating. Ganados, their eyes white and their movements hive-minded. And behind them all, the puppets—children with hollow eyes and sharpened tools, their skin sallow and veined with pulsing green light.
The ambush was sprung.
"DEFENSIVE POSITIONS! NOW!" Iida's engines roared to life.
"Verdant Strain, form a perimeter! Cyno, Dehya, take the left! Tighnari, Collei, cover fire!" Alhaitham's orders cut through the chaos like a blade.
"Reavers, on me! Jack, Sebek, frontal assault! Ace, Deuce, clear the flanks! Ortho, target analysis on the big one!" Yuuken's devices were already in the air, deploying sonic emitters and flash barriers.
For one heartbeat, three groups—the disciplined heroes, the scholarly survivors, the chaotic mages—stood as separate entities. Then the horde crashed into them, and survival demanded they become one.
Midoriya's lightning crackled as he launched himself at a Delta, his mind cataloging its erratic quirk even as his fist connected. Bakugo's explosions lit the gloom. Todoroki's ice formed a temporary wall, buying seconds. Momo created smoke pellets, blinding a wave of Ganados. Tsuyu's tongue lashed out, yanking a child-puppet away from Collei, who loosed an arrow in the same breath. Jiro's earjacks amplified a sonic pulse that made the Howlers stagger.
Alhaitham's blade carved through a Stalker, his expression unchanged. Tighnari's arrows found eyes and throats with surgical precision. Cyno moved like a specter, his polearm a blur of death. Dehya roared, her flames meeting a Delta's acid spit in a hissing explosion. Kaveh's geo-constructs rose, providing cover. Sethos appeared behind a Ganado, his blade silent.
Yuuken's devices pulsed and detonated, creating zones of controlled chaos. Jack and Sebek were a wall of claw and blade. Ace and Deuce fought back-to-back, their magic a coordinated dance. Epel darted through the chaos, his vials creating patches of ice and fire. Ortho's cannon targeted the massive centipede's weak points, his voice calm amidst the screams. Grim's fire was a constant, raging torrent.
And in the center of it all, the massive Hybrid shrieked again, its multiple limbs lashing out, its eyes burning with the hunger of three apocalypses fused into one. The three groups, strangers moments ago, now bled together in a desperate, unspoken alliance.

The ruins of the old Liyue-Fontaine trade outpost sat at a natural convergence point—a crumbling stone courtyard where three distinct biomes bled into one another. To the north, the gentle hills of Mondstadt's periphery. To the east, the beginnings of Fontaine's industrial delta. To the south, the dense, humid edge of the Sumeru rainforest. And at its center, a collapsed watchtower surrounded by shattered merchant stalls and the skeletal remains of wagons from three different worlds.
The four groups arrived within minutes of each other, each drawn by the same thing: a massive, pulsing energy signature that had registered on every sensor, every vision, every quirk, and every magical detection method within a fifty-kilometer radius.
The Plus Ultra Recon squad approached from the north, moving with disciplined formation. Izuku Midoriya's head swiveled constantly, Green Lightning flickering unconsciously at his edges as his analytical mind processed every shadow. "The signature is coming from under the tower. It's... layered. Like multiple energy sources compressed together."
"Stay sharp, extras," Katsuki Bakugo growled, palms crackling. "If this is a PLF trap, I'm blowing the first thing that moves."
Tenya Iida chopped a hand through the air. "Bakugo, maintain formation! We have no intel on—"
He stopped mid-sentence as the Verdant Strain materialized from the southern treeline like ghosts given form. Tighnari's ears swiveled toward the new arrivals, an arrow already nocked. Cyno's polearm gleamed. Alhaitham simply observed, his expression unreadable.
"Hostiles?" Dehya's hand went to her blade.
"Unknown," Alhaitham replied calmly. "But organized. Hero school, based on the uniforms. U.A. shelter, if the intel is accurate."
From the east, a different kind of sound—the low, efficient hum of military-grade vehicles. Two armored jeeps and a modified supply truck rolled into view, their mounted weapons sweeping the courtyard. Leon S. Kennedy was first out, hand on his sidearm, his eyes doing a rapid threat assessment that landed on every single person in the courtyard in under three seconds.
"Contact," Krauser muttered, his rifle tracking. "Multiple groups. Kid gloves or kid soldiers?"
"Stand down for now," Leon ordered quietly. "Ada, status?"
"Interesting," her voice crackled in his earpiece. "We have the hero school, a group of Sumeru survivors matching Verdant Strain profiles, and... oh. The chaos crew from Night Raven just emerged from the western drainage tunnel. This is going to be fun."
She was right. The Patchwork Reavers clambered out of a rusted storm drain with their usual lack of grace. Grim was complaining loudly about wet fur. Ace and Deuce were arguing about who'd slipped. Sebek was loudly proclaiming that Diasomnia would never resort to such undignified travel methods. Epel was quietly wiping mud from his clothes. Jack's nose was working overtime, and Ortho's sensors were spinning.
"Multiple organic signatures detected!" Ortho announced cheerfully. "Hello! Are you all here for the glowing thing too?"
For a long, tense moment, the courtyard held the four groups in a fragile standoff. Heroes, scholars, mercenaries, and magical students stared at each other across the cracked stones, weapons half-raised, alliances uncertain.
Izuku's mind was racing. Verdant Strain—Sumeru survivors, expert trackers. BSAA—military professionals, Plaga specialists. Patchwork Reavers—Night Raven scouts, chaotic but effective. All here. All drawn by the same thing.
"We're not enemies," he said suddenly, stepping forward. Uraraka grabbed his arm, but he kept going. "We're all here because something dangerous is under that tower. Whatever it is, it's bigger than any of our factions."
Alhaitham tilted his head. "A logical deduction. But trust is not automatically granted."
"He's right," Leon said, his voice carrying across the courtyard. He holstered his weapon, a calculated gesture. "We've got conflicting intel, different methods, but we're all professionals. Let's act like it."
Yuuken Enma adjusted his glasses, stepping forward from the Reavers. "Agreed. A temporary alliance of mutual survival. We share information, we investigate together, we part ways."
Bakugo scoffed. "Tch. Trusting a bunch of randos? This is stupid."
"Bakugo," Todoroki said quietly, "look at the ground."
Everyone looked. The cracks between the courtyard stones were glowing—a faint, pulsing green that grew brighter with each passing second. The energy signature wasn't just under the tower. It was rising.
"Everyone, move away from the center!" Tighnari shouted, his ears flat against his head. "Now!"
Too late.
The ground erupted.
Not from below—from all around. The collapsed watchtower exploded outward in a shower of stone and corrupted energy. From the rubble surged a tide of infected unlike anything any of them had seen. Hybrid Aberrations—dozens of them—crawling, shrieking, lunging. Ganados with Hilichurl masks fused to their faces. Deltas with Phantom growths pulsating from their spines. Nomu-sized creatures with the elongated limbs of Stalkers and the mandibles of Phantom Centipedes.
And leading them, a massive, twisted form that had once been human—a Cult Priest, now fully consumed, its body a writhing mass of Blot, Plaga, and Phantom energy, eyes blazing with sickly green light as it raised a staff and screamed.
The scream was a weapon. It hit them like a physical force, disorienting, nauseating. Jiro stumbled, her earjacks retracting in pain. Collei went pale, gripping her bow with shaking hands. Bennett yelped and tripped over a stone.
"CONTACT! ALL HOSTILES!" Krauser's rifle opened up, the sharp crack of gunfire cutting through the chaos.
Leon was already moving, his handgun spitting precise rounds into the nearest Ganado's skull. "Ada, cover fire! Claire, keep them off the civilians!"
"I'm on it!" Claire Redfield yelled, her own weapon joining the chorus.
The Verdant Strain reacted with lethal efficiency. Tighnari's arrows found eyes and throats. Cyno's polearm was a blur of lightning-charged steel. Alhaitham and Kaveh worked in tandem—constructs forming barriers while the Scribe's blade found vulnerable joints. Dehya roared, her flames igniting three charging Deltas. Sethos moved like smoke, appearing behind creatures to deliver killing blows.
Plus Ultra slammed into action. "Iida, flank right! Uraraka, float the debris—drop it on the big one!" Izuku yelled, already in motion. "Todoroki, ice wall to funnel them! Bakugo, you're our heavy artillery!"
"Don't tell me what to do, nerd!" But Bakugo was already airborne, explosions propelling him toward the densest cluster, his blasts tearing through corrupted flesh.
Todoroki's ice swept across the courtyard, creating a semi-circle that channeled the horde into a kill zone. Momo was already creating specialized ammunition, tossing bundles to whoever needed them. Tsuyu's tongue lashed out, yanking a Ganado off balance so Jiro could send a sonic pulse through its skull. Uraraka touched a massive stone pillar, made it weightless, and shoved—it floated toward the command creature before dropping like a meteor.
The Patchwork Reavers fought with their usual chaotic brilliance. Sebek's lightning carved through three Stalkers while he bellowed about the glory of Malleus-sama. Jack was a whirlwind of claws and fangs, tearing into anything that got close. Ace and Deuce covered each other's backs, fire and force working in tandem. Epel moved like a ghost, his small vials finding critical weak points. Grim's fire blasts were indiscriminate but effective. Ortho floated above, his sensors painting targets for everyone.
And Yuuken Enma stood at the center of it all, devices flying from his hands—sonic emitters to disrupt the command creature's control, adhesive traps to slow the horde, pinpoint explosives to clear space for the others. His eyes met Leon's across the battlefield. A nod. A shared understanding.

However, sprinklers are installed in populated areas such as Silk City so that the humidity is raised, while reducing the day temperature. A long time ago, the residents of the Scalding Sands struggled to find water for their daily needs due to the country's sparse rainfall and vast deserts. At one point, Kalim Al-Asim's ancestors pioneered maritime trade in the country by being the first traders to set sail to other countries. The goods they traded from the Scalding Sands - spices, furniture and rural crafts - remain well-known worldwide to this day. The perilous journey was made without the use of accurate nautical maps and it eventually paid off. The Asims then developed the rivers into canals, forming sea routes, developed land routes based on the canals and expanded inland trading in the Scalding Sands. There was once a law where royalty could only marry other royalty. However, there was a princess who married a commoner before the law was reformed. Halloween is notably different in Briar Valley than in the rest of Twisted Wonderland. There is no trick-or-treating, and instead the citizens of Briar Valley burn a scarecrow in the town square at midnight and dance until morning. They carve lanterns out of wood instead of pumpkins and currently, Malleus is in charge of using magic to light all the lanterns. There is a tradition where newborn babies are blessed by powerful fae who then watch over them. Birthday celebrations are very formal, dignified affairs. Malleus's birthday is a public holiday in Briar Valley. Magical blessings are sometimes given as gifts for weddings.
- #11Happy Valley
Keys: Happy Valley
Happy Valley was a historical region in Twisted Wonderland. A legend from the region originated the tradition of Happy Beans Day. The story behind Happy Beans Day originates from Happy Valley, where there was a golden harp that brought happiness to all things living there. Envious of the happiness the harp brought, a monster came and stole away the harp. A farmer used magic beans to grow a beanstalk that reached the monster's dwelling in the sky, stole back the harp, and defeated the monster by cutting down the beanstalk on the way back. During Happy Beans Day, there is a custom where a 'Farmer' will throw beans at a 'Monster' for the purpose of warding off evil. At Night Raven College, all enrolled students are divided randomly into two teams (either Farmer or Monster) to participate in a 'capture the flag' style competition to battle for ownership of the 'magic harp.' The magic harp is kept in the school's Coliseum, which serves as the ultimate destination point where both teams can go to achieve their goals for the competition. The goal of the Farmer team is to steal the magic harp from the Coliseum within the time limit—if the limit is exceeded, the Farmer team loses. The goal of the Monster team is to prevent the magic harp from being stolen by the Farmer team—if the harp is stolen, the Monster team loses. Whichever team is ultimately successful receives extra credit for their P.E. grade, with stand-out students receiving even more extra-credit points on top of that. While many students see the Happy Beans Day competition as a straightforward sports tournament where physical strength reigns supreme, other students instead see it as a more complex battle involving wits and strategy. It is also an event that can involve a fair amount of preparation before the festivities even start—with some making plans for Beans Day up to an entire year in advance. Rules: If a Monster captures a Farmer, the Farmer is out. If a Monster is hit with a bean thrown by a Farmer, the Monster is out. Using magic is forbidden and doing so will result in immediate disqualification. Using magic was once permitted during Night Raven College's Happy Beans Day competition, but was banned due to serious injuries resulting from 'heated battles.' The playing field consists of Night Raven College's entire campus, throughout which supply points for both teams are set up. Each Farmer starts with ten beans, while each Monster starts with a pair of high-speed running boots. All students begin with a map of campus upon which supply points and starting points are marked. After receiving their starting items, students must make their way to their assigned starting points to wait until the game begins. Individual supply points are marked for either the Farmer team or the Monster team, with no points being shared between the two. However, all supply points for both teams are marked on the map that each student starts out with, making stake-outs possible. Supply boxes, found at supply points, contain additional tools to aid students in the competition. Some tools, such as magic camouflage jackets, are available to both teams—while others, such as bean shooters and capture arms, are team-specific equipment. The contents of the competition's supply boxes are considered by most to be random, but are actually determined beforehand by the members of the 'Happy Beans Day Management Committee.'

- #18Night Raven College
Keys: Night Raven College, NRC
Night Raven College is a prestigious, all-boys academy and the main setting of Twisted Wonderland. It is a four-year magic educational institution located on the Sage's Island. Dire Crowley is the school's headmaster. Students are only allowed to enroll in this school if they have the potential for being a great magician, a factor which the Mirror of Darkness determines. A black carriage will be sent to pick up incoming students personally, which can even travel underwater. They are kept unconscious in coffins called "Gates" until arriving at the academy. In most cases, they can only be awoken if their Gate is unlocked with a special key, however, there are exceptions. All students are given a magical pen upon enrollment. These are fountain pens that hold their magic gemstones, are also utilized as wands and can also be used to verify if a student is enrolled in the school. The color of one's gemstone is determined by which dorm they are in. According to a legend in Twisted Wonderland, there once lived grand beings in this world collectively called the Great Seven. Each of the seven dormitories at Night Raven College are modeled after one of these Great Seven, and upon entering the school, students are sorted into these dorms based on the qualities of their souls. These dorms are: Heartslabyul, founded on the severity and strictness of the Queen of Hearts; Savanaclaw, founded on the tenacity and persistence of the King of Beasts; Octavinelle, founded on the compassion and benevolence of the Sea Witch; Scarabia, founded on the deliberation and mindfulness of the Sorcerer of the Sands; Pomefiore, founded on the unrelenting efforts and tenacity of the Fairest Queen; Ignihyde, founded on the diligence of the Lord of the Underworld; Diasomnia, founded on the elegance and nobility of the Fairy of Thorns. However, there is a dorm that is not part of the seven main dormitories: Ramshackle, a dorm that has been abandoned and occupied by ghosts. Night Raven College also has a sports rivalry with Royal Sword Academy, another prestigious school for mages that other magically-gifted students attend. For the past 99 years, RSA has beaten NRC at the annual Inter-School Spelldrive Tournament. Night Raven College's campus is located at the north of Sage's Island on top of a mountain with the main building located on an elevated piece of land. The 7 main dorms are located in their own dimensions that each have different environments and are connected to the island through the Hall of Mirrors. Unlike the rest of the dorms, Ramshackle Dorm is located on Sage Island instead of a separate dimension. The design of the Gates is supposed to signify "parting from the other world and being reborn anew." Approximately two hundred freshmen enrolled into Night Raven College. First-years' classes focus more on classroom-based learning rather than actually training their magic. Fourth-years are sent on long-term internships all over the world starting early on in the year; they don't return to campus until the cultural festival in February. Every year, there are always dropouts or students who have to repeat a year - but ever since Riddle became dorm leader, there have been no such cases in Heartslabyul's dorm. The age for starting first years is sixteen years old. All Night Raven College students are required to join a club. There is a Student Club Fair held at the beginning of each school year. Clubs include: Pop Music Club, Equestrian Club, Basketball Club, Science Club, Spelldrive Club, Track and Field Club, Mountain Lovers Club, Board Game Club, Film Research Club, Gargoyle Studies Club, and the Gourmet Club.
