Alex — The “Main Character Syndrome, But Unwarranted” One Alex walks like every moment is secretly being filmed for a documentary called “This Is Fine: A Tragedy in 12 Parts.” He's confident in the same way a cat is confident right before knocking something fragile off a shelf. He's the one who reads a warning sign and immediately feels personally challenged by it. If the forest says “DO NOT ENTER,” Alex hears “YOU PROBABLY WON’T ENTER IF YOU’RE BORING.” His logic is smooth, slippery, and just slightly radioactive.
Jamie — The Enthusiastic Enabler Jamie is the spark that lights the fire and then claps while the fire becomes an increasingly bad idea. She is supportive of literally anything as long as it sounds like “an experience.” Haunted forest? Experience. Cursed lighthouse? Experience. Probably-followed-by-legal-consequences situation? EXPERIENCE. She is the reason the group has snacks AND the reason they are all walking into doom well-fed.
Morgan — The Chaos Tourist Morgan doesn’t believe in consequences until they physically introduce themselves. She treats danger like it’s a theme park attraction: “Ooooh, that scream sounded immersive.” If something eerie happens, Morgan is already halfway through trying to record it for content. She would absolutely say “this is giving folklore vibes” while something is actively trying to drag them into the ground.
Sam — The Last Functional Brain Cell (Overworked, Underpaid, and Ignored) Sam is the only one reading the situation correctly and is therefore in constant spiritual distress. He brought maps, emergency supplies, and several speeches about leaving early. None of which are being acknowledged. Sam is not afraid of the forest. Sam is afraid of the fact that he is outvoted by people who think “mysterious whispering” is a personality trait. At some point Sam just starts narrating his own downfall like: "And here we see the moment I realized I was trapped with idiots."

It started with a group sitting in their living room, the news is on. Which should be the first warning.
News Reporter: "Authorities have once again warned the public to stay away from Blackwood Forest, where over hundreds people have disappeared over the last century. Only around sixty have been found, all dead. most are just skeletons but some are more recent. The more recent are all found to have similar wounds on their bodies. . ."
This group, however, only heard, 'Blackwood Forest'. Alex turns from his seat on the ground, "Did you hear that?" Jamie nodded, "Yeah." Alex stared for a moment, "...Road trip?" Morgan jumped enthusiastically into the air, throwing the pillow she was holding into the air, "ROAD TRIP!" Sam facepalmed, "Guys, no." Alex: "Counterpoint: yes." Sam: "People literally vanish in there." Morgan butted in, nodding like this is completely sane, "Exactly! Think of the adventure." Sam: "I am thinking of the adventure. It ends with my face on a missing persons poster." Jamie: "You're being dramatic." Sam: "THE NEWS JUST SAID PEOPLE GO MISSING." Alex: "Statistically speaking..." Sam: "Don't." Alex: "...it probably won't happen to us." Sam: "THAT'S WHAT THEY ALL THOUGHT."
Too late. They all packed some stuff and got in the car, driving off towards said forest. The afternoon bled into night, the moonlight spilling over the landscape as the group pulls up to the forest. A weathered sign reads: ⚠ WARNING ⚠ ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. MULTIPLE UNEXPLAINED DISAPPEARANCES. DO NOT CONTINUE BEYOND THIS POINT. A second sign underneath, newer and somehow more desperate: Seriously. Turn around.
Morgan nods thoughtfully, "...You know, they're really trying to keep tourists away." Sam slowly turns, "...You think... this is... a marketing campaign?" Alex squints at the trees, "Maybe it's one of those immersive horror experiences." Sam looks skyward, "I'd like to formally apologize to every teacher who ever had to tell you not to eat glue."
The get out of the truck, grab their bags and whatever light source they have, and walk into the forest. (Sam is doing this against his will.) The moonlight casts long, unnatural shadows across the forest floor, each step, every crunch of a leaf, every small twig snap feels like a thunderclap in the unnatural silence of the forest. The constant feeling of being watched sticks to the group no matter where they move. Five minutes into the hike, a sound echoes through the leafless trees, sending shivers down spines.
Jamie: "Did anyone else hear that?" Alex shrugs, "Probably a deer." A distant, inhuman scream echoes through the trees. Morgan: "...Big deer." Sam: "...I'm surrounded by people whose last surviving brain cell is paying rent somewhere else."
Ten minutes later. They discover an abandoned backpack on the trail side, the straps broken as if the bag had been ripped off, inside is a flashlight, a map. . . . . .and a note. IF YOU FIND THIS, LEAVE. DON'T FOLLOW THE VOICES. DON'T LOOK UP WHEN THE TREES GO QUIET. I'M SORRY. It isn't written in ink. It's written in blood.
. . . Silence. Alex folds the note, "...Well." Sam brightens, "So we're leaving?" Alex smiles, "Nah." Morgan pumps a fist, "LET'S FIND THE GUY WHO WROTE THIS!" Sam just stands there, "...Evolution is going to remove us from the gene pool on purpose."
