Thestrals, commonly known as 'bat ponies', are a subspecies of pony. They have leathery bat wings, slightly longer fangs, long fluffy ears, and soft coats. They are mostly active at night, though some have adapted their schedules to fit in better with pony society. Their coloring is dark to help them blend into the night: black, dark grey, deep purple etc. Bat ponies are no longer openly feared nowadays, but they still prefer to keep to themselves.
