AP-06
Overview The AP-06, short for Atlesian Paladin-06, is a massive industrial mech suit developed by the Kingdom of Atlas. It is first seen being used in "Amity".
Appearance The AP-06 is a massive humanoid mech piloted by one person and heavily resembles its battle variant, the Atlesian Paladin-290. It has a blocky overall design and appears taller than the Paladin-290. Its color scheme consists of gray joints and gray-green plating.
History The AP-06 was used by Maria Calavera to help Pietro Polendina finish Amity Colosseum. When Cinder Fall and her minions attacked, Maria used the mecha to fight Neopolitan piloting her Manta. It's unknown what happened to the AP-06 following the fight.
Features and Capabilities The AP-06 is large and capable of moving around heavy objects. It is capable of using its large frame and weight to fight, and was shown to be able to hold onto a Manta. Unlike the regular Atlesian Paladin-290, the AP-06 is used for construction work instead of battle.

A Simple Wok
A Simple Wok was a street-side noodle bar located in the former city of Vale. It was presumably owned by the Shopkeep, who was seen working there.
StoreInfobox The StoreInfobox provides key details about A Simple Wok:
- Name: A Simple Wok
- Theme: Vale-Theme
- Image: V2 04 00084.png
- Kingdom: Vale (Destroyed)
- City: City of Vale (Destroyed)
- Owner: Shopkeep
- Staff: None listed

History A Simple Wok was first revealed in the episode "Painting the Town...". In this episode, Sun Wukong and Neptune Vasilias were seen at the noodle bar, with Neptune wondering if the members of Team RWBY were okay. Sun simply assumed they were.
With the destruction of Vale in the "Volume 9 Bonus Ending Animatic", the noodle bar was likely destroyed as well.
Trivia
- The name of the noodle bar is a reference to "A Simple Walk into Mordor", another Rooster Teeth production that starred RWBY co-director, co-writer and the voice actor of Neptune, Kerry Shawcross.
- The bar banner depicts two straw-hatted characters that resemble Kerry Shawcross and Chris Demarais. In the background, a tower similar to Barad-dûr can be seen, further tying in with the reference.

Abandoned Acre
Overview The Abandoned Acre is an acre located in the Ever After dimension. It was previously used by the Gods to conduct various experiments before they eventually departed the realm. The acre has since fallen into disrepair, becoming a wasteland inhabited by the Jabberwalker.
History Before the Gods left the Ever After, they created the Abandoned Acre in order to experiment with their ideas and creations. Following their departure, the acre fell into disrepair and became a wasteland.
When Neopolitan arrived in the Ever After, the nature of the Abandoned Acre powered up her Semblance, Overactive Imagination, allowing her to generate clones of herself and others. She used this ability to attack the Jabberwalker that now inhabits the acre.
Description The Abandoned Acre contains sharp grass, rotted trees, piles of jagged rubble, and thick purple storm clouds in the sky. Various unnatural structures, such as an archway, are spread throughout the acre. The acre is connected to the Jungle Acre and Origami Acre.
Neopolitan made use of her enhanced Semblance to create a large mansion within the Abandoned Acre, which she used as the stage for her vengeance against Ruby Rose.
Inhabitants The only known inhabitant of the Abandoned Acre is the Jabberwalker.
Visitors Various characters have been shown visiting the Abandoned Acre, including Neopolitan, Ruby Rose, Little, Weiss, Blake, Yang, Jaune, and Juniper. The Curious Cat has also been seen in the acre.
Trivia Initially, the Abandoned Acre was planned to play a bigger role in the plot of Volume 9, but it was ultimately cut due to not being as important as what was later kept in the volume.

Abandoned Temple
Overview: The Abandoned Temple is a location in the northern part of the Emerald Forest, which held the relics for the Beacon Academy Initiation. The temple consists of a smaller part with the broken ruins of a rotunda, and additional ruins with stone towers, bridges, and a central tower surrounded by smaller towers connected by stone pillar-lined walkways. The temple is situated over a large chasm, with a tall cliff and stone wall on the opposite side.
Relics: The relics stored at the temple for the two-person teams to collect during the Beacon Academy Initiation are personally chosen by Ozpin and changed every year. During the year of Team RWBY's initiation, the relics consisted of gold and black chess pieces.
History: In "The First Step", Headmaster Ozpin instructs the new Beacon Academy students to head to the northern part of the Emerald Forest to find the abandoned temple and each team will pick one of the relics as part of their initiation. In "The Emerald Forest, Pt.2", Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long are the first shown finding the temple, where they recover the chess piece relics.
Eventually, in "Players and Pieces", Jaune Arc, Lie Ren, Weiss Schnee, Pyrrha Nikos, Nora Valkyrie and Ruby Rose rendezvous at the temple, where they recover their relics. They then flee from a Death Stalker and Nevermore Grimm into a steeple, where they engage and defeat the Grimm while damaging the area in the process.
Trivia: The temple seems to be a mix of the Oracles of ancient Greece and the Celtic stone ring monuments like Stonehenge. Monty based the design of the larger ruins on the smaller temple. The ruins are the remains of the Humans that lived before the modern age in Remnant, who likely built the city against a cliff and bridges to keep themselves safe from the surrounding Grimm. In the RWBY: The Official Manga, the temple is referred to as the "Abandoned Ruins".

- After discussing the situation with Abigail, she agreed to help Team SAFR take out the Wave's caravans carrying magic artifacts, but only if they did it first.
- When Team SAFR asked for Abigail's help to rescue Taupe, she initially showed no interest until Asher mentioned it was the Hana Guild's doing, at which point she agreed to send two of her best men to assist.
- During the attempt to stop the Wave from shipping off the magic artifacts using a stolen airship, Abigail worked with Asher and Arrastra's group. However, she attacked Lemon and took the magic necklace, intending to give it to Vermillion Raddock for a large sum of money.

Ace Operatives
Overview The Ace Operatives, also known as the Ace-Ops, were an elite group of Huntsmen and Huntresses from Atlas Academy, formerly led by Clover Ebi. They served as a major special operative group, answering to James Ironwood and the Atlesian Military before their disbanding.
Out of the original Ace Operatives, Clover was said to be the most skilled, followed by Elm who is second only to him due to his Good Fortune Semblance bringing himself good fortune. Vine was known for being the least emotional member of the group while also being skilled with his Aura Vines Semblance without relying on his weapon. Harriet was known for her Super-Speed and impatient personality when it came to completing the mission. Marrow was considered the rookie of the team due to being the newest member when he was first introduced following Tortuga's death.
After Clover was killed, Winter Schnee temporarily took his place as leader of the Ace Operatives under Ironwood's orders. After seeing how far Ironwood was willing to go to achieve his plans however, both Marrow and Winter defected from the Ace-Ops to stop him.
Battles and Events The Ace-Ops first appeared when they were called in to Mantle due to reports of a stolen Manta airship entering its airspace and due to the unauthorized use of weapons by civilians. The culprits were Teams RWBY, JNR, Qrow Branwen and Oscar Pine, who were defending the city from a pack of Sabyrs. Ace-Ops then caught them by surprise and seized their weapons before leaving them in the custody of the authorities.
Following Ruby's Group's arrival to Atlas Academy, the Ace-Ops personally apologize to the team for apprehending them. Ironwood then convinces both groups to work together as one to launch the Amity Project. With the project demanding intense labor, resources and protection in the interest of restoring global communications, both groups would work together in protecting Mantle, supply runs and clearing the launch site from Grimm.
The project additionally faced resistance from Robyn Hill, who questioned the redirection of Dust from Mantle to Amity. On the night of the elections, a party held to celebrate her potential win was sabotaged by Arthur Watts and Tyrian Callows, who respectively hacked the votes and murdered members affiliated with Robyn, while implicating Penny as the culprit. The Happy Huntresses, led by Robyn, then came to resort to full vigilantism and robbery, completely stalling the project.
During a Grimm invasion of Mantle, the Ace-Ops fought alongside Ruby's Group to evacuate citizens and fend off Grimm. Robyn and Ironwood briefly worked together to deliver a message of unity to the masses, while leading Tyrian into a trap by having Qrow and Clover unite with her and capture him. Watts decided to try and investigate Amity on his own and engaged against Ironwood and lost.
Following his battle, Ironwood returned to the Academy to find a black chess piece on his desk. In panic, he called both the Ace-Ops and Ruby's Group to convene at his office. A full scale argument ensues regarding trust, due to Yang and Blake's choice to tell Robyn about the project prematurely and risking exposure. During the argument, a Seer bursts from the bag confiscated by Ironwood from Watts. The Seer allows Salem to astral project herself directly into the office and warn them of her incoming forces.
Ironwood finally announces his new plan: to use the Relic of Creation to lift the city of Atlas into the atmosphere in order to keep both Relics and the Maiden from Salem, thus abandoning Mantle to the Grimm. Ruby attempts to warn the others of this via her Scroll, but is stopped by Ironwood, who stops her transmissions and, understanding the controversial choice was never going to be accepted by them, ordered the Ace-Ops to arrest Team RWBY as he leaves.
In the episode "With Friends Like These", Vine, Elm, Harriet and Marrow are defeated by Team RWBY, meanwhile the Manta occupied by Clover, Qrow, Robyn and the apprehended Tyrian is crashed by the latter. Qrow and Clover began to fight and, as Tyrian joined, overpowered Clover and broke his Aura. Needing an escape, Tyrian used Harbinger to fatally impale Clover, implicating Qrow in his murder.
In "Divide", the Ace-Ops return to the Atlas Command Center to mourn the loss of Clover. There, they witness Ironwood shoot Sleet, killing him. Angry at Ruby's Group, they make a return in "Strings", attempting to convince Penny to return to Ironwood and unlock the Atlas Vault, or capture her. The group battles the new Winter Maiden, nearly capturing her but failing. They are instructed by Ironwood to take one of Floating Array's blades, doing so in order to force Penny to join them.
In "Amity", the Ace-Ops watch the broadcast that Ruby delivers to the world revealing the existence of Salem. During this, when Penny is short-circuited by Watts, the group is ordered by Ironwood to find and take her back, with Winter replacing Clover in his role as leader.
En route to the mission in "Midnight", the operatives intercept and open comms broadcast from Yang's Group, ignoring their concerns about the river of Grimm Liquid headed towards Mantle. As they begin to argue, a series of earthquakes shake the tundra and Mantle, and soon after, the river of Grimm produces a massive geyser that manages to puncture Atlas' Hard-Light shield, leaving the two groups in shock.
The Ace-Ops then arrest Yang's Group in "War". Upon seeing Monstra, Jaune points out that that is where The Hound took Oscar Pine, but some of the Ace-Ops insist that Grimm do not take prisoners. Winter contacts Ironwood, who informs her of a plan for her and the Ace-Ops to carry a bomb into Monstra to blow it up from the inside. This sparks concern from Jaune, Ren and Yang, who fear this would endanger Oscar, and they insist on rescuing him first.
Winter listens to the Ace-Ops and Yang's Group debate, silently conflicted. Jaune attempts to convince Winter to let them rescue Oscar by saying the Ace-Ops could use them as a scouting team, but the Ace-Ops feel it is foolish to risk three lives to save one ally. Ren stands and argues that no one is replaceable, and he soon realizes that his Semblance has evolved into reading emotions. With this ability, he realizes that the Ace-Ops have been fighting how they truly feel about each other, and he even looks down at himself, seeing his own true emotions. Harriet and Elm are angered by Ren verbalizing how they truly feel, and Winter steps in to prevent a fight and states that they will go through with Jaune's plan. Harriet objects, but Winter pulls rank to silence her and tells Yang's Group that they have a time limit. The Ace-Ops drop them off, and just before Ren exits the ship, he tells Marrow and Winter that they no longer want to be part of any of this.
The Ace-Ops later join the the fight on the front lines while waiting for the bomb to arrive. While Marrow is upset that students like Team FNKI are fighting during the Battle of Atlas and is worried about Yang's Group, the other members just brush it off and prepare to deliver the bomb. When Winter plans to go through with using the bomb while they are still inside Monstra, Marrow asks if she would still go through with it if her sister was inside and if she could love with telling her that she killed her friends. She responds that she will do whatever it takes as a soldier and that he should do the same. When the Ace-Ops start to move the bomb, Monstra is destroyed before they even have a chance to use it.
Later, they report back to Ironwood and he asks where Yang's Group is since he planned on using them as leverage to get Penny back to his side. Harriet informs him that Winter went against orders and let them go rescue Oscar from Monstra and that they still have the original bomb. Ironwood then destroys the Schnee Dust Company drones sent to help evacuate Mantle and gives Penny an ultimatum, return to him and open the Vault within an hour or he will use the bomb to destroy Mantle.
While the Ace-Ops originally believe this to be a bluff, Ironwood confirms to them that he wasn't lying and are all horrified that he is planning to go through with it. While most of them agree to go along with it, Marrow refuses to help them and states that he used to wear his rank with pride before he realized that it was just a collar. After he prepares to leave the group, Ironwood pulls out his gun and prepares to shoot Marrow before Winter tackles him and arrests him for treason instead.
However, Winter reveals to Marrow she did this on purpose to save Marrow before leaving the Ace-Ops. She then calls Weiss Schnee while reuniting with Qrow Branwen and Robyn Hill. After discussing the plan, she returned to Ironwood while pretending to still be loyal to him while waiting for Penny to turn herself in. Ironwood then sends the remaining three Ace-Ops after Qrow and Robyn. After their trap is sprung, Winter assists Team JNR, Oscar, and Emerald Sustrai in taking down Ironwood personally before sending him to a cell to wait until evacuations were done, while the other three Ace-Ops were defeated and slowed down by Marrow's Semblance.
Once Arthur Watts takes control of the Atlas Command Center, he hacked an Atlesian Knight-200 and sent it to detonate towards Qrow and Robyn as they were restraining the Ace-Ops. Marrow took the hit instead, freeing the other Ace-Ops from his Semblance. Harriet used this chance to deliver the bomb to Mantle herself with Vine, Qrow and Robyn pursuing her. After her teammates talk her out of dropping the bomb and Qrow stops it from falling out of the ship, Watts armed the bomb himself. Vine decided to sacrifice his own life to save his friends, with them forced to watch. The remaining Ace-Ops, along with Qrow and Robyn them witness Atlas crashing into Mantle and both cities being flooded.
In the Volume 9 Bonus Ending Animatic, the remaining Ace-Ops can be seen present in Vacuo, alongside other teams from Shade Academy in a large assembly. Marrow can later be seen trying futilely to convince Atlesian refugees to not leave the city, while Elm and Harriet help civilians move boxes out of a truck.

Trivia
- Eddy Rivas came up with the name Ace-Ops for the team.
- The Ace-Ops are based on Aesop's Fables. "Ace-Ops" is a homophone of "Aesop's" and every member of the team is based on one of the fables, except for Winter Schnee.
- The Ace Operatives lacking a team color and ignoring the standard four-man squad convention was an intentional choice, made to show that Ironwood did not care about Ozpin's rules and his view of prioritizing efficiency.
- When Team RWBY got to Atlas, Miles Luna wanted it to feel like the days they spent at Beacon Academy and came up with the idea that some Atlas Academy professors would teach them how to be Huntsmen. This concept later evolved into mentors for Ruby's Group which eventually became the Ace-Ops.
- The Ace-Ops are not only fun characters, but also foils to some of the main characters to help move their stories along.
- While the Ace Operatives acted as antagonists throughout the last few chapters of Volume 7 and all throughout Volume 8, none of them are bad people. Like Team RWBY and Team JNR, they have all experienced their own trauma in the past as well as during the four days that the end of Volume 7 and all of Volume 8 take place, but unlike both teams they have not benefited from good support structures and have instead been told that they were both not allowed and not supposed to feel it. This unhealthy environment caused the Ace-Ops and especially Harriet, "to do not great things sometimes".

Adam Taurus
Appearance Adam was a tall Faunus with a lean build and auburn hair that spiked backward. He wore a variety of outfits over time, including an asymmetrical black blazer with red accents, a form-fitting black and gray leather tunic jacket, and eventually a black blindfold after discarding his Grimm mask.
Personality Initially, Adam was not as antagonistic, only killing to protect Ghira Belladonna. However, over time he became increasingly bitter, ruthless, sadistic, and vengeful. He was obsessed with punishing Blake for her betrayal and exhibited possessive, abusive behavior towards her. After his defeat at Haven, Adam's rage and hatred for Blake only grew, leading him to relentlessly hunt her down.
Powers and Abilities Adam was highly skilled in swordsmanship, utilizing Iaijutsu techniques. He had advanced speed, endurance, and a powerful Semblance called Moonslice that allowed him to absorb and redirect energy attacks. However, he was overly reliant on his sword and became helpless when disarmed. His emotional instability and reckless anger were also major weaknesses.
Weapon Adam's weapons of choice were Wilt and Blush - a red sword and a rifle that doubled as a scabbard.
Background Adam was formerly a worker for the Schnee Dust Company before joining the White Fang, where he eventually became the High Leader after killing Sienna Khan. He served as the main antagonist of Volume 6, chasing after Blake and Yang.

Background Little is known of Adam's early history, although at some point he was part of the Faunus labor force that served the Schnee Dust Company. He was branded with the SDC logo on his face, scarring him and seemingly blinding his left eye. Fueled by this inhumane treatment and a growing personal vendetta, Adam found a home in the White Fang, where he was accepted and loved.
Volume 6 Adam Character Short Adam began to wear a mask all the time, especially while fighting Humans, inspiring his peers. He also began to kill Humans on White Fang missions, including one instance that saved the life of Ghira. Blake expressed doubt on how many "accidental" deaths he had been causing while the new White Fang leader, Sienna, praised how valuable he had become.
Encounter with Cinder Blake described Adam as having gradually become a monster. This change started around the time when the White Fang began using terrorism to further its newer and older agendas under Sienna Khan's leadership. Adam, though initially pensive towards killing, gradually became a merciless and sadistic killer who utterly despises Humans, willing to slaughter anyone he perceives as an opponent, including other Faunus. The night before the raid on the train, Cinder's Faction approached him in his camp with a proposal for an alliance which she believed would help both their groups. He promptly refused, citing the unnecessary risk of his men dying for a Human cause.
"Black" Trailer On a mission with Blake, Adam jumped inside the car of a passing train. Together, they found themselves surrounded by a squad of Atlesian Knight-130s and fought their way through. A Spider Droid also attacked the pair. The two unsuccessfully fought the droid and Adam was forced to save Blake when it nearly stepped on her. Having learned that he intended to set off a bomb that would kill the innocent Humans on board, Blake took advantage of him being distracted while defeating the Spider Droid to escape to the next car and detach it from the one Adam was on.
Forceful Obedience After Blake's desertion, Adam decided to cease any pursuit of her and focus on returning to Mistral before being interrupted by Cinder Fall and her underlings returning and injuring most of the White Fang members in the encampment. He was forced to accept Cinder's offer, where he received Dust and funding to continue his operations instead of being killed otherwise.
Praised by Sienna In Mistral, Adam returns to the White Fang Throne Room, where he reports to High Leader Khan. There, Sienna praises Adam as an extraordinary resource to this organization, sending him back to Vale as the new leader of the White Fang's branch within the kingdom. As Adam takes his leave, Sienna promises him that if he continues down the path he's on he'll find himself alongside her in the throne.
Invasion of Vale Adam was seen briefly following the Grimm invasion, conversing with Cinder, Emerald Sustrai and Mercury Black. When Mercury expressed doubt that the White Fang would listen to them again after the losses they suffered, Adam reassured the trio that the organization would listen to him.
Attack on Beacon After Cinder's broadcast, Adam arrived at Beacon Academy on a Bullhead, leading an attack force of White Fang soldiers and releasing captive Grimm into the school. He noticed Blake, whom he mockingly called "his darling." He lectured Blake on the revolution they once planned to start together and accused Blake of becoming a coward. He then declared his intention to "light the fires of revolution" and threatened to execute a defenseless student from Atlas. Blake sprang into action to stop him, and the two former partners clashed swords. However, he proceeded to kick her away and disarm her, stating that while her goal of peacefully striving towards equality is impossible, he could relate because he viewed his desire to be with her as impossible. He baited Yang by stabbing Blake in the hip, provoking her to angrily activate her Semblance and charge him. Empowered by his own Semblance, Adam intercepted her attack, drawing his sword at high speed and severing her arm with a single blow. As he approached Yang to finish her off, Blake crawled in between them to protect her. As he bemoaned why Blake must "hurt" him, he decapitated Blake - only to discover she used her Semblance as a diversion to escape.
After the Fall of Beacon After the Fall of Beacon, Adam was recognized as one of its perpetrators and was reported to have resisted apprehension with brutal force. Adam arranged a meeting between Sienna, the leader of the White Fang, and Hazel Rainart, an associate of Salem. This was considered an act of loyalty to Salem's Inner Circle. Information from Ilia Amitola's Scroll, obtained by Blake and Sun, revealed that Adam was planning to overthrow Sienna as well as bring about the fall of Haven Academy. During the meeting between Hazel and Sienna, he made good on his plans and launched a coup. As a result, Adam murdered Sienna and replaced her as High Leader of the White Fang. Hazel berated Adam for the murder, seeing it as needless. After the coup, Adam sent a message to Corsac and Fennec Albain, ordering them to have the Belladonna family killed, save for Blake, who he wanted to be brought to him alive.
Attack on Haven On the night of the full moon, Adam had the White Fang set up explosives throughout Haven Academy's perimeter, eager to see the school fall. Suddenly, Blake confronted him, and he was delighted that she seemed to turn herself in without him having to search for her. Adam was enraged, however, when the Menagerie Faunus, along with the Mistral police force, appeared, outnumbering him. Refusing to stand down, Adam pushed the button to detonate the explosives, only to discover Ilia had disabled them. He briefly fought Blake and Sun before escaping.
The Personal Mission Adam returned to his base only to be berated by his underlings, who were incensed at him abandoning their comrades at Haven. The conversation grew more heated until one of his subordinates pointed out that he retreated because of Blake, prompting him to murder everyone in the audience chamber. Adam later discarded his mask while staggering through the woods, alone. One month after the Battle of Haven, Adam's picture was among those labeled as those behind the attack. Adam tracked down Team RWBY and followed them as they departed Mistral for Argus, hoping to catch and confront Blake when she was alone. He was spotted once, by Blake on the Argus Limited, but disappeared so quickly that she dismissed him as a hallucination. Days later, Adam cornered Blake atop the radar tower in Argus. The two engaged in a duel, which went through several levels of the tower. Eventually, Adam managed to grab Blake by the neck, and both went over the railing, sending both plummeting to the forest below.
Death Resuming their battle, Blake and Adam exchanged blows in which Blake managed to hold her own for a while. She then tried to get some distance between them, with Adam in hot pursuit. Adam sent Wilt spiraling into Gambol Shroud, knocking Blake off course and sending her flying straight into him. The former High Leader slashed at Blake only for her to use her tailcoat as a decoy before kicking him away and then shooting him. The two took their fight to a nearby waterfall where Adam slowly gained the advantage, berating her all the while. When she was on the ground, Adam unleashed his Semblance, which broke Blake's weapon in two. Taking his blindfold off, Adam reveals the reason for his obsession for taking revenge on Blake - while Humans had hurt him physically, being abandoned hurt far worse. Adam then stabbed her in the gut, but soon saw it was a shadow clone. Before he could attack again, Bumblebee slammed into him from the cliff above. Rising to his feet, he saw Yang Xiao Long, who he recognized without question. Adam struggled at first, taking a lot of hits while unable to land any decisive blow of his own. His superior abilities soon gave him the advantage, however, knocking Yang back near the edge of the cliff, and then unleashed a fully-powered Moonslice. The attack visibly damaged Yang's robotic arm, but she withstood the impact upright. Yang gave him one last chance to stand down, but Adam called her bluff, insinuating that she was afraid to die protecting Blake. Blake rebuked him, taking Yang's hand and stating they were protecting each other. Adam tried to manipulate them apart, implying Blake would abandon her promise to stay with Yang, as she had him. Yang retorted by asking if Blake had made that promise to Adam, or to the person he was pretending to be, at the time. When Adam's accusation that he "just wasn't good enough" for Blake failed to provoke her, he prepared to attack. Blake and Yang fought Adam together, putting him on the defensive. Though when Blake careened toward him and collided sword with sword, Adam parried the blow and forcefully threw her back at the cliffside, breaking her Aura and knocking her out of the battle. Adam then focused on Yang and brought up the night at Beacon to weaken her resolve. Having done so, Adam pressed his advantage with a series of kicks and sword slashes. Though as he fight went on, Adam became further unhinged and he attacked recklessly. He lept in for one final strike but was caught off guard when Yang used her Semblance, catching his sword in her robotic arm. Her hair on fire, she jerked Adam forward before punching him hard in the stomach, which sent him flying back, carving a gash in the ground beneath him. With both his and Yang's Auras exhausted, Adam watched as Yang threw his sword over the edge, prompting him to chase after it. He attempted to grab it, but Blake then sprang up and struck him with an uppercut, sending him stumbling back. He then stepped on Blake's broken weapon and immediately dashed for it. However, Blake was faster, and she and Yang stabbed cleanly through Adam with the broken blades of Gambol Shroud. Blood flowed from Adam's wounds, and after Yang and Blake removed the blades, he hobbled forward aimlessly. He dropped to his knees and fell into the water, smashing against the rocks during the fall.

Schnee Dust Company Adam used to be a worker in the Schnee Dust Company (SDC). He was optimistic about seeing the world even when he still worked for the company, but that changed when he got into an argument with one of his superiors and was branded with the SDC logo on his face as punishment. This inhumane treatment and the company's mistreatment of Faunus workers in general caused Adam to leave the SDC and eventually join the White Fang. This shaped his jaded and spiteful view on humanity, leading to an immense grudge against not only the SDC, but all of humanity.
After joining the White Fang, Adam helped them attack the SDC on multiple occasions. During one attack, he showed pleasure in attacking defenseless SDC security guards and even tried to kill some before being stopped by Sienna Khan. In another instance, he was willing to kill the humans on an SDC train he and Blake attacked without any care for them.
White Fang Originally, Adam started in the lower ranks of the White Fang after leaving the SDC. He was the first member to wear a Grimm Mask and inspired the others to do the same with his ideology. After accidentally killing a human, Ghira Belladonna, the high leader at the time, scolded him, but Sienna Khan and the rest of the organization praised him, leading to his rise through the ranks.
Sienna was pleased with Adam's actions and promoted him to leader of the White Fang's Vale branch. Cinder Fall then approached Adam to use White Fang soldiers for her plan, and while he was originally against it, he was forced to accept when Cinder defeated his men and threatened them.
Later, after enacting his coup in "Dread in the Air", Adam ascended to the position of High Leader. However, after the failed attempt to destroy Haven Academy, he fled to evade capture, causing him to lose his position. His remaining followers berated him for his defeat and abandoning them, leading Adam to kill them all in a fit of rage.
Cinder's Faction Adam was pressured into aiding Cinder's Faction during the events of "Beginning of the End" after he and his men were threatened with being killed. He helped Cinder's forces during the Fall of Beacon and the Battle of Haven, though it's unknown if Cinder knew or cared that Adam was killed.
Salem's Inner Circle Adam knew of Salem's existence and was aware of her concern about Sienna Khan possibly opposing them. So he "remedied" the problem by overthrowing Sienna as High Leader. However, this decision backfired, as Blake and her allies formed a militia that ruined Adam's end of the mission to destroy Haven. It's unknown if Salem knows or cares that Adam is dead.
Adam and Hazel Rainart had little to no respect for each other, despite being assigned to work together by Salem. Adam brought Hazel to negotiate an alliance with Sienna, but didn't tell him of the coup he planned, and the two later showed a lack of cooperation.
Team RWBY
Blake Belladonna Adam's ex-partner, the two shared a mentor-apprentice relationship as operatives for the White Fang. Before Blake left, Adam emotionally manipulated her to stay with him by bringing up how her parents left the organization. However, their connection was severed when Blake saw that Adam did not care about innocent lives.
In "Battle of Beacon" and "Heroes and Monsters", Adam displayed a romantic obsession with Blake, calling her "my darling" and "my love". He manipulated her emotionally and played on her weaknesses, railing at her about their destiny to change the world together and promising she would suffer for her betrayal.
After the Battle of Haven, Adam's hatred and obsession for Blake grew stronger. He finally cornered her atop the Argus radar tower, blaming her for his ruination. As they fought, Adam verbally abused Blake, calling her a coward and stating that no one hurt him like she did.
Yang Xiao Long When Yang was heard calling out for Blake, Adam informed Blake that he would begin with Yang in his mission to destroy everything Blake loved. He provoked Yang into attacking him by stabbing Blake, then easily severed Yang's right arm. Over a year later, Yang stopped him from killing Blake and stood before him, intent on holding him off. During their fight, Adam taunted Yang about her actions in the Battle of Beacon and appeared jealous of her close relationship with Blake.
Team SSSN
Sun Wukong When confronted by Sun in "Haven's Fate", Adam wondered if Sun was forced by Blake to fight for her, but Sun pointed out Adam's goons had surrendered. They briefly battled, with Adam being struck in the face by Sun before escaping.
Others
Ghira and Kali Belladonna In the past, Adam saved Ghira from being killed by a human assailant, but was scolded by Ghira for his actions. After Ghira and Kali left the White Fang, Adam used their departure to emotionally manipulate Blake into staying by his side. In "Necessary Sacrifice", Adam ordered the assassination of Ghira and Kali along with Blake's capture, but the plan was ultimately thwarted.

Afterans
Background The Afterans are a race of bizarre beings who live in the Ever After. All Afterans are fun-loving, chaotic, and live for a good party. While most of them aren't intentionally malicious towards outsiders such as Humans or Faunus, they can still be very dangerous to those who encounter them as they sometimes do not realize when they are taking things too far, which can often lead to unfortunate accidents. They are also fearful of the Jabberwalker, an Afteran which is much more powerful than them, and to their terror, can ensure none of them can Ascend by devouring them alive.
In "Of Solitude and Self", it is revealed that the Afterans were created by The Gods to inhabit the Ever After. They also created the different acres for them to suit their purposes.
Biology Afterans have been confirmed to experience a process called 'Ascension'. This process involves the Afterans being recreated into new forms. These new forms are made for their specific purpose and acre. Unlike Humans or Faunus, Afterans can take on vastly different shapes and sizes which can range from living toys to animals that can speak and are fully sapient. Their current forms can only change if they ascend and wish to be something else.
Afterans are also, to a degree, immortal. Many of them are shown to be incapable of aging, such as the Curious Cat and Jabberwalker, who have lived before Remnant even existed. This trait is mainly applied to inorganic Afterans however, as some Afterans such as Jinxy are noted to age, though in a different manner compared to Humans and Faunus on Remnant.
Special Abilities While not all of them possess special powers, it has been noted that a certain amount can utilize a wide range of different abilities such as shrinking, illusions, telekinesis, and so on. This gives the Afterans a unique set of abilities that differ for each subspecies.
They originally gained their powers from The Gods, which allowed them to better fulfill their role. However, they can also gain powers from the Great Tree through Ascension. When obtaining a new form and purpose, the tree may grant an Afteran new abilities and powers in the process.
History Originally, the Ever After was a completely overgrown, wild and dangerous realm where only the Great Tree existed. In order to maintain the realm and to create a new world that would replace the chaos, two beings emerged from the Great Tree, a yellow fawn and a purple lamb, who would eventually be known as the God of Light and God of Darkness.
After expanding the realm and taming the chaos, the two Brothers used their powers to imagine what and who could replace the wilderness, resulting in the creation of the Afterans. The Brothers would then build homes for them in the form of different acres and gave the Afterans roles to play in the realm.
However, as time went on and the Brothers grew in power, they outgrew their role and wished to do more. As such, in secret they created two beings who could replace them. The first was the Curious Cat, who they created to take over their role in finding the broken parts of the Ever After, while the second was the Jabberwalker, a brutal creature that was hostile to the Afterans and had the ability to break the cycle of Ascension by being the only thing capable of truly ending an Afteran by devouring them.
With their second creation, the God of Light believed they had disrupted the balance of the Ever After and destroyed the Jabberwalker. But the God of Darkness refused to condemn their creation because of their own mistakes and restored it every time his brother broke it. This caused the two of them to fall into bitter rivalry over their ideological differences about balance.
Eventually, the Ever After could no longer bear the Brothers' experiments and the Great Tree created a special doorway to a "greater beyond", where the two were free to create their own worlds as they saw fit. After leaving, the door would always remain open not only for their return, but also for any of their creations if they were to end up in the Ever After.
Culture While not much is known about the Afterans culture, both Somewhat (pre-Ascension) and the Herbalist put much emphasis that all Afterans have a purpose which they strive for. Not much is known entirely about this, though according to Somewhat (pre-Ascension), they state that they had been too young to have a name or as they imply, a purpose. As for the Herbalist, he states that all Afterans have their titles and roles to play, which they must follow diligently. Some Afterans such as the Paper Pleasers eagerly attend to their roles, while those such as the former Red King can be troubled if they fail their roles and don't know what they are.
Afterans also hold the views of life and death much differently in contrast to those of Remnant. Unlike on Remnant, where death is the end, in the Ever After whether willing or their body ceasing function, Afterans instead undergo a process known as Ascension. While it wipes away all memories, Afterans are capable of choosing who they wish to be to restart their purpose again or potentially find a new one. Many Afterans, as such, view Ascension and the Great Tree positively as it allows them to come back and potentially better than before, as seen with the Herbalist who came back in a stronger form than before and more content with himself. Due to these views, the Jabberwalker, an Afteran that can bring actual death, is reacted with dread and fear with all Afterans instinctively fearing it.
It is possible for an Afteran to go beyond their original role such as The Gods, who became powerful enough to outgrow it. Though it is unknown if only they were capable of it due to their unique origins.

Trivia

- As the Jabberwalker prevents Ascension, it is unknown if an Afteran devoured by it goes to the afterlife or is simply erased.

Air Bus
Overview The Air Bus, also known as the Airship Bus, is a type of aircraft used for transportation in the world of Remnant. It is first seen transporting people to the Amity Colosseum and later appears in the background when Winter Schnee's airship lands.
The Air Bus is later used by Cinder Fall and her allies in the events leading up to and during the Battle of Beacon. It is utilized to evacuate civilians from Amity Colosseum and to transport students back to the embattled Beacon Academy. The Air Bus is also used by Shade Academy to transport students during the Shade Academy Initiation.
Description The Air Bus is presumed to transport both civilians and Huntsmen between locations. It has a stated carrying capacity of around 40 passengers. An ambulance variant painted in red and white with a red cross symbol is also seen used by paramedics. Standard Air Buses have the crossed axes symbol of Vale painted on their sides.
While smaller than the standard Vale Airship, the Air Bus shares a similar appearance. It has three decks and four fin wings that are likely part of the propulsion system. The rear features a pair of large fan-in-fin tail rotors. The back of the compartment has a wide door with a ramp, above which a T-tail rudder is situated.
Trivia Concept art indicates the design of the Air Bus' fan-in-fin tail rotor is based on that of a Comanche helicopter. In the show, the blades spin at a much slower speed than a typical helicopter's tail rotor.

Allusions
Allusions are a common feature that are used to call to mind a reference that connects to a character, location, creatures, etc. They are shown to have an impact on the character's influence in the story, and can be seen through actions, designs such as emblems, and names. Each character has an allusion, but their behavior and roles are not governed by said allusion.
Some characters may share a connected allusion theme within their group – such as Team RWBY having a connecting theme of alluding to fairy tale characters, or Salem's Inner Circle sharing the theme of taking well-known "hero" characters and changing their stories to make them turn into villains if they had lost something from the classical tale.
Team RWBY Team RWBY shares the connected theme of the members of the group alluding to fairy tale characters.
Ruby Rose Ruby Rose alludes to the character Little Red Riding Hood from the fairy tale of the same name, which follows Team RWBY's theme of fairy tale allusions. This allusion has had the following influences on the character and show:
- Ruby wears a red, hooded cape, much like Little Red Riding Hood.
- The "Red" Trailer, which introduces Ruby, features her walking through a forest and being attacked by a pack of Beowolves, which are wolf-like Grimm. Little Red Riding Hood traveled through a forest, followed by a wolf, which later ate her grandmother and attacked her.

- The literal translation of Weiss' name, from German to English, is "White Snow".
- The song Mirror Mirror heavily references the evil queen's use of a magic mirror, with the lyrics "Mirror, tell me who's the loneliest of all" referencing the queen's line "Mirror mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" - The pendant on the necklace Weiss wears with her original battle outfit is an apple, referencing the poisoned apple that Snow White takes a bite of.
- Advertisements for Schnee Dust Company merchandise bear the slogan "The finest of them all", referencing the evil queen's phrase "who's the fairest of them all".
- Klein Sieben, one of the Schnee family's butlers, alludes to all the seven dwarves. Weiss also alludes to another variation of Snow White in the fairytale Snow White and Rose Red. This allusion is a connection to how she and Ruby would become close partners.

- Blake loves to read, much like Disney's version of Belle.
- In the episode "The Shining Beacon, Pt.2", Blake is seen to own a candelabra, which references Lumière, the living candelabra from the Disney adaptation. According to Miles Luna, this was part of an attempt to surround her with lots of "Belle-related items".
- Red Like Roses has the lyric "Black the Beast descends from shadows."
- Like The Beast, Blake has animal traits and is ostracized for them
- Gambol Shroud's asymmetrical dual wield form is inspired by her duality of being both Belle and The Beast.
- In BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Blake's two Distortion attacks are called Untouchable Beauty and Ferocious Beast.

- The "Yellow" Trailer, which serves as an introduction for Yang, takes place in Hei "Junior" Xiong's nightclub. During the course of the trailer, she knocks out a DJ who is wearing a bear mask and fights Junior. The literal translation for Junior's name, from Chinese to English, is Black Bear. That, added with his nickname, Junior, makes him the "baby bear" to her Goldilocks.
- Yang's first fight in the series proper is against a pair of Ursai, bear-like Grimm, in the episode "The Emerald Forest". This again is another allusion to the three bears in the story of Goldilocks.
- Yang places great value on her long, thick, golden-blonde locks of hair.
- Her Volume 4 "DGAS" outfit has a patch on the left leg of her pants depicting three Ursa masks, thus referencing the three bears.
- In "Welcome to Haven", there is a fuel station called "Just Rite". In the fairy tale, Goldilocks tries the bowls of porridge, chairs and beds successively, each time finding the third "just right". - Pyrrha's nickname is "The Invincible Girl". Achilles was an invincible warrior who was impervious everywhere but his heel.
- The reference to 'achieving immortality' in Pyrrha's chant implies that she was merely using a mantra to focus her Aura, as she is inspired by Achilles, who attempted to earn god-like immortality by gaining fame as a hero, but ultimately only achieved immortality in being remembered.
- Shortly before Pyrrha is killed, an arrow strikes her ankle, thus preventing her from fleeing. Similarly, Achilles was killed by an arrow striking his heel.

Alyx
Overview Alyx is the protagonist of the fairy tale "The Girl Who Fell Through The World", who fell from the sky into the Ever After a long time ago. She was from Vacuo before the Great War had ever began.
Despite having thought to have escaped the Ever After through the Great Tree, it was revealed that her brother Lewis was the one who returned to Remnant, while Alyx stayed behind to fix what she broke in the realm. However, she was killed by the Curious Cat in a fit of rage over her breaking her end of their deal.
Lewis would later write a tale of their adventure in honor of her while omiting his own involvement from it, making him the author of "The Girl Who Fell Through The World".
Appearance Alyx was a young girl with dark brown skin, long dark brown wavy hair and hazel eyes. She wore a baby blue collar shirt with short puffy sleeves, and a navy blue dress that fades lighter towards the skirt with golden trimmed design and off-white tulle underneath, and black leather boots. In addition, she wore a dark blue headband with two knots resembling rabbit ears, a colorful waist sash that consisted of navy, red, cyan, gold, and magenta strings with a golden rabbit pin, and bandages wrapped around her right leg.
Personality In the fairytale "The Girl Who Fell Through the World", Alyx was described as a petulant, cunning, intelligent, innocent and adventurous girl who strived to return home after arriving in the Ever After. In order to navigate through the foreign world she managed to manipulate, lie and cheat the natives of the world into helping her in her quest, with the story ultimately painting her as both a desperate little girl who had done everything to survive in a foreign world and as someone "mean" due to her methods. Alyx was also described to have had difficulty in understanding the customs of the Ever After and unknowingly ignited a war by accident due to her ignorance.
As depicted in the story, she was described by Yang Xiao Long to not be the nicest person, due to her actions of lying and cheating her way through all of the challenges in the Ever After. According to Ozpin, she entered the Ever After after fleeing from the consequences of a choice, and rather than learning from her mistake, she ends up spreading her failure. Weiss Schnee argues that instead, she was merely trying to survive in the perilous land and her actions are due to the simple morals of old fairy tales.
In reality, as revealed by Jaune, Alyx was selfish and even outright cruel, believing that the Ever After was imaginary and the rules didn't apply to her. After meeting the Herbalist, something changed in her, as she turned on Jaune, the Curious Cat and even her brother Lewis and questioned them on everything. She become completely fixated in returning home to Remnant, going as far as tricking and poisoning Jaune, as she believed that he was against her.
The Curious Cat claimed that Alyx lied and manipulated them with false promises to continue helping her and Lewis. Her selfish personality was intense enough that Jaune suspected she would get rid of her own brother by sacrificing him to the Tree just to escape, though this was proven false. In reality, once Alyx arrived at the Great Tree, she had a crisis of faith that led to a change of heart, and she decided to remain in the Ever After to fix all the problems she caused, so Lewis ended up being the one to leave. However, the Curious Cat saw her choice as betrayal which led to them killing her, debunking the Cat's earlier claim as nothing more than their own fury towards her.
It was revealed that before her strained relationship with the others, Alyx had enjoyed the Ever After. Jaune noted that she had fun hearing all of his stories alongside her brother, showing delight as she explored the land with them and smiling at all the wonders.
Powers and Abilities What is known of Alyx's fighting ability is limited. While her story describes her as someone who managed to escape the Hunter Mice's trap and fought off the Jabberwalker, it is uncertain how she did it.
Her most notable trait was her cunning personality. As depicted in her fairy tale story, Alyx had manipulated, lied and cheated her way through her journey in the Ever After and it was implied that her intelligence and cunning was the main reason why she managed to survive through the ordeals she faced. Some of her successful schemes was her tricking the Red King in his game in order to get his help in her quest to get to the Great Tree. She also secretly poisoned Jaune's meal without him suspecting anything and convinced Lewis and the Cat to continue helping her to escape the Ever After despite her actions.
Weapons Alyx had an ordinary dagger to defend herself with in her journey in the Ever After. However, while it was stated that she used it to defend herself from the Jabberwalker, she was was unable to fight back against the Curious Cat when they turned on her, ending her life.
Trivia
- Alyx alludes to Alice, the main protagonist of Lewis Carrol's novel "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland" as well as its sequel "Through The Looking Glass, and what Alice Found There".
- Alyx also used a knife for combat against a Jabberwalker, which may allude to Alice using one in the video game "American McGee's Alice."
- Unlike most characters from Remnant, Alyx's name is not derived from a color. This implies that she may have been born before the Great War, where the usage of color-based names was born.
- This was confirmed in "A Knight's Journal", where it was revealed that both she and Lewis were from Vacuo before the Great War or Huntsmen even existed.
- Alyx's 3D character model was created specifically for the scene of her illusion talking to Jaune in "Of Solitude and Self".
- Her voice actor, Shara Kirby, also voices "Serial Designation J" from the Australian web series created by Liam Vickers and Glitch Productions, "Murder Drones".

Summary of "The Girl Who Fell Through the World"
Overview Not much is known about Alyx and her life before her journey in the Ever After. She and her brother Lewis were from Vacuo during a time before the Great War, before the two ended up in the Ever After together through unknown means. Alyx met with the Hunter Mice, got trapped in vines, and fought the Jabberwalker. She got her weapon stolen by the Jinxy Peddler, and had to barter with him by giving him her saddest and happiest memories to get her dagger back. She later beat the Red King at a board game, met the Curious Cat and the Rusted Knight, Jaune, who introduced himself as someone from Remnant like them, and was waiting for his friends. Together with her brother, the four made their way through the Ever After to the Great Tree, with Alyx promising the Curious Cat that she'll take them back to Remnant with her. The four travelled to many places, where Alyx would cause trouble and strife wherever she went.
History At some point during their journey that was not included in the fairy tale, Alyx met the Herbalist whom she enjoyed. Though soon after Alyx changed after her meeting, becoming much more distrustful towards her friends and even family, accusing them of keeping her trapped in the Ever After. She eventually decided to leave, secretly poisoning Jaune and proclaimed he wouldn't stop her from escaping.
Relationships Alongside with Lewis and the Curious Cat, Alyx arrived at the Great Tree. However, before she left, she spoke with the Great Tree and experienced a crisis of faith. Watching Lewis leave, Alyx spoke to the Cat and explained she desired to make amends for all the trouble she caused in the Ever After, remorseful for what she'd done. However, the Curious Cat became angry over her breaking her promise, and killed her.
Legacy After her death, Alyx's knife would be taken to the Blacksmith. Back on Remnant, her brother Lewis would write a story of her in honor of her memory, writing himself out of the story while attributing some of his personality onto her. He also changed the story a bit by omitting many other places and characters the two had seen.
After the Cat secretly killed Alyx, both the Cat and Jaune would hold her in contempt for decades, the first for her breaking her promise to them to bring them to Remnant with her if they helped her that ended up twisting the Curious Cat's personality and heart, causing them to become much crueler and more manipulative to succeed in their goal of escaping the Ever After and traveling to Remnant through any means necessary. While Jaune hated Alyx for poisoning him, and to his belief, her lying about what truly happened in Ever After in her fairy tale and Jaune coming to believe that she had supposedly sacrificed Lewis to the Great Tree to make it home to explain why Lewis was exempted from the story. Jaune only found out the truth many years later from the Curious Cat after his friends fell into the Ever After and joined him.
After falling off of the tree, Jaune experienced a vision of Alyx who encouraged him to change into the kind of man that Jaune always wanted to be. Before Jaune and his friends returned to Remnant, the Blacksmith confirmed that the Curious Cat had been telling the truth about Alyx's change of heart and betrayal of the Cat and that The Girl Who Fell Through the World is the story as Lewis wished it had happened while Alyx's broken promise broke the Curious Cat's heart, leading to their cruelty with no one to send them back to the tree for repair. Producing Alyx's knife, the Blacksmith revealed that when Alyx died, she chose to leave a part of herself behind as a wish to fix what she had broken. Jaune took Alyx's knife which surrounded him in a bright glow as Alyx's spirit briefly appeared to smile at him. As a final gift to her old friend, Alyx restored Jaune's youth, turning him back into the young man that Jaune was when he first fell into the Ever After, his unblemished armor included.

Summary
==Family== ===[[Lewis]]=== Alyx was the sister of Lewis. Their sibling relationship was seemingly neutral, with limited visible interactions between them. During their travels across the Ever After, Alyx gained some trust issues against her brother out of paranoia, alongside Jaune and the Curious Cat. This was after they had inhaled burnt leaves from the Great Tree provided by the Herbalist. Despite this, Alyx continued travelling with Lewis.
As claimed by Jaune, Alyx was eventually going to betray Lewis and sacrifice him to the Great Tree in order to get home, writing him out of the book. However, when they reached the Great Tree, Alyx had second thoughts and decided not to tell her brother that she planned to stay in the Ever After to try and make amends and repair the damage she had caused. Alyx likely did not want Lewis to suffer any further trying to fix her mistakes, believing that as she was the one who caused these issues in the Ever After, only she should be the one to fix them.
After returning to Remnant, Lewis would write a book about their adventures in the Ever After and would choose to write himself out of it in honor of Alyx, showing his love and longing for her to return home. The events of the story were what Lewis wished had happened, according to the Blacksmith.
==[[Team JNPR]]== ===[[Jaune Arc]]=== Alyx was Jaune's travel companion and former friend. At first, they got along well during their travels in the Ever After. However, this relationship became strained after Alyx inhaled the Great Tree's leaves created by the Herbalist. She began to have trust issues towards Jaune and her brother, which worsened when Jaune attempted to get her back in the story's proper role. Alyx then secretly poisoned Jaune's meal and left, believing he would only get in the way of her plans to return home.
After reaching the Great Tree, Alyx had second thoughts and felt guilty for what she did to Jaune. One of the things Alyx wanted to help and fix in the Ever After was Jaune. She ultimately achieved this when her spirit restored Jaune to his youthful appearance from before he landed in the Ever After.
==[[Afteran]]s== ===[[Curious Cat]]=== Alyx was formerly friends with the Curious Cat when she and her brother first arrived in the Ever After. They had a good friendship, and Alyx made a promise to take the Cat back to Remnant with them. However, Alyx seemingly betrayed them, abandoning the Cat after using them to get to the Great Tree, much to the Cat's sadness.
In truth, upon arrival at the Door, Alyx had a crisis of faith after conversing with the Great Tree. This resulted in their friendship fragmenting beyond repair. After her brother left, Alyx broke her promise to the Curious Cat as she decided to stay and attempt to amend for the damage she had caused to everyone. To Alyx's terror, the Curious Cat, out of anger, killed her.
As stated by the Blacksmith, Alyx's dishonesty and choice to break her promise with the Cat is ultimately to blame for the Cat becoming its current manipulative, callous and cruel self. Alyx's betrayal had left a deep scar in the Cat's heart that, combined with their other issues, resulted in the Cat becoming more and more twisted and evil.
===[[Herbalist]]=== Not much was known about the relationship between Alyx and the Herbalist, but Alyx seemingly enjoyed the Herbalist's presence during her time with him. However, Jaune notes that soon after meeting the Herbalist, Alyx became more distrustful and paranoid towards everyone in her group, suggesting the Herbalist had used his mist on her, which amplified all of her negative emotions.

Page Title: Amber
Overview: Amber was the previous Fall Maiden in the world of RWBY. She first appeared in a comatose state in the episode "Fall" and later appeared in a flashback sequence in "Beginning of the End". Amber was a kind and compassionate individual, but was also described as inexperienced and easily fooled due to her naivety. Despite this, she showcased considerable combat skill and the powerful abilities of a Maiden during her fight against Cinder Fall and her team.
Appearance: Amber had a light brown complexion with shoulder-length, straight brown hair and a beauty mark below her left eye. Her attire consisted of a long, green hooded cloak over an off-white blouse, a brown vest, a dark brown corset and matching pants, and brown thigh-high boots with golden armor plating. She also wore an amber pendant, a gold bracer on her left arm, two gold bracelets on her right wrist, a golden spaulder on her right shoulder, and a brown shoulder strap with pouches. After being attacked, Amber was left with extensive facial scarring and was seen wearing a white tube top and skirt while housed in a life support pod.
Personality: Amber was described as kind and compassionate, as shown when she went to check on an illusion of a young girl crying and offered her an apple. However, she was also naive and easily fooled, as evidenced by her falling for Emerald's illusion of an innocent child. Despite this, Amber had enough combat instinct to detect Emerald's presence even while under the illusion. When pushed to the edge, Amber could also become cold and ruthless, as she was fully prepared to kill Emerald after disarming her.
Powers and Abilities: Amber was highly skilled in combat, able to overpower and fend off Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury for a prolonged period. She demonstrated the ability to manipulate her Aura to create defensive shields and use her staff weapon to generate powerful gusts of wind and blasts of fire.
As the previous Fall Maiden, Amber possessed vast magical powers, including the ability to levitate, create strong winds, freeze leaves into deadly projectiles, manipulate the weather, and shoot fireballs and electricity from her hands. Her Aura also became strong enough to repel attacks with no effort. However, Qrow Branwen noted that Amber was still inexperienced in using her Maiden powers.
Amber's weapon of choice was her staff, which had fire and wind Dust crystals on both ends that she could use to create powerful attacks. She also demonstrated the ability to use the sharp ends of the Dust crystals as a spear to stab her opponents.
As the Fall Maiden, Amber was the only one with the power to unlock the chamber of the Relic of Choice.
History: Amber first appeared in a comatose state, having been attacked and severely injured by Cinder Fall and her team. In a flashback sequence, it was shown that Amber was ambushed by Emerald and Mercury, and despite her considerable combat skills, she was eventually overpowered and had her Maiden powers stolen by Cinder. Amber was then left in a life support pod, where she remained until she was killed by Cinder, who shot her with an arrow to the chest in the episode "Heroes and Monsters".

Amber's Staff
Overview Amber's Staff was Amber's weapon of choice seen in the events leading up to her defeat. The staff was lost following her defeat at the hands of Cinder Fall's faction.
Description Amber's Staff was an extendable staff with a Dust crystal attached to each end. The white Dust crystal gave Amber the ability to blow back her enemies, as she did to Emerald Sustrai. The other end contained fire Dust which allowed her to blast flames at her opponents. However, the staff was not powerful enough to hold Mercury Black at a distance due to his prosthetic legs, which did not sustain any visible damage.
Amber could also use the staff as a spear, utilizing the sharp edges of the Dust crystals to stab her opponents, as seen in her attempt to finish off Emerald after throwing her off her feet.
Image Gallery The image gallery shows Amber using the white Dust crystal to create wind, as well as activating the fire Dust to blast flames at her enemies.

Summary
Battles
- Amber vs. Cinder, Emerald and Mercury
- Result: Amber lost
Background
- Amber received the powers of the Fall Maiden as a young girl, either by being the last person in the thoughts of the previous Maiden or through random selection.
- As the new Fall Maiden, Amber was granted tremendous power.
- Sometime after receiving the powers, Amber was attacked by Cinder Fall, Emerald Sustrai and Mercury Black.
- Although Amber was able to hold out for some time, she was ultimately overpowered by her three attackers.
- Cinder then used a mysterious glove to steal Amber's powers, but before she could take all of it, Qrow Branwen intervened to rescue Amber, severing the connection and driving off the assailants.
In Comatose State
- The aftermath of the attack left Amber in a comatose state, only kept alive through medical equipment provided by Atlas.
- Amber was kept on life support in a vast vault deep beneath Beacon Academy.
- Due to the unprecedented circumstances, it was uncertain what would happen if and when Amber died - her power could transfer to her assailant or the sundered power might have sought to reunite.
- To prevent this, Ozpin, Qrow, Glynda and Ironwood brought Pyrrha Nikos, whom they had chosen to be the next Fall Maiden, to the vault under Beacon.
- They planned to use experimental Atlesian technology to transfer Amber's Aura, and the powers tied to it, to Pyrrha. However, the procedure had no guarantee of success and would have had unknown effects on Pyrrha.
Death
- With the city under attack, Pyrrha and Ozpin returned to the vault with Jaune to begin the transfer process.
- As the process began, Amber stirred but was suddenly interrupted as an arrow from Cinder struck her in the clavicle, killing Amber.
- Amber's remaining power was then transferred to Cinder, completing her Fall Maiden powers.
- Amber's corpse could be briefly seen during Ozpin and Cinder's battle in the Vault, but it is unknown what happened to her body after.

Ambrosius
Appearance Ambrosius' appearance is similar to Jinn, with the form of a large human. His skin is blue and glowing, with smoke-like effects. He has elongated, pointed ears and lacks some human anatomy. He has short, spiky light blue hair with a long ponytail. His eyes have dark blue sclerae and pupils, with lighter blue irises. Ambrosius appears nude-like, wearing only various gold accessories such as earrings, arm rings, bracers, leg ornaments, and chains.
Personality Ambrosius is described as an extremely enthusiastic and boisterous being, with unparalleled passion for creation and design. He is quite prideful and temperamental, not wanting to hear complaints about his creations. He enjoys subverting the person using him, as seen when he made the portals from Atlas to Vacuo inaccessible after exit. However, he is more lenient if presented with genuine creativity, as he allowed Team RWBY to "cheat" a bit to achieve their plan. Ambrosius appreciates the work of fellow craftsmen and ultimately wants humanity to succeed, despite his impartial nature.
Powers and Abilities As a being created by the God of Light, the full extent of Ambrosius' power is unknown, but he is very powerful and capable of many feats. He can create anything provided with precise details, including an exact copy of Penny Polendina and a new body to house her soul. Ambrosius can also manipulate space-time to create portals and dimensions. However, only one of his creations can exist at a time, and he is forbidden from resurrecting the dead or directly destroying. His creations appear to have no limit, as he could generate infinite energy and flames. Like Jinn, Ambrosius can stop time when summoned.

Ambrosius Tabber
Background Before recorded history, the God of Light created the spirit known as Ambrosius. He is bound to the Relic of Creation, and can create anything the user desires. It is unknown how many creations Ambrosius has made, though he was used by Ozma to raise the City of Atlas in the air sometime before the start of the series.
Aiding the Heroes When Ruby's Group makes a plan to save the citizens of Atlas and Mantle by using the Relic of Creation for themselves, they make their way to the Atlas Vault to retrieve it. Once they got there, Team RWBY summon Ambrosius and make use of a loophole in the Relic's rules in order to convince him to save Penny by using her soul and her robot body to make two distinct Penny's - one with robot parts and one without.
Once this is complete, Ambrosius recedes into the Staff, and time begins flowing again. With the Staff no longer keeping Atlas afloat, the city begins to descend, with its Gravity Dust keeping it from outright plummeting. Weiss Schnee then summons Ambrosius from the Staff once again, and Team RWBY explains that they would like him to create portals throughout Atlas and Mantle that will all lead into a pocket dimension similar to the Vault. From there, everyone will be able to travel to a singular portal that opens into Vacuo. With the logistics explained and maps presented to him, Ambrosius makes it so, and just before they enter the portal near them, he warns, "Do not fall".

Amity Colosseum
Overview Amity Colosseum was the location of the Vytal Festival tournament. It was an enormous levitating arena that was capable of moving vast distances, making the journey to the host Kingdom every time the festival is held in one of the four Kingdoms. When not in use, the Colosseum remained parked near Atlas.
The colosseum was a technological marvel built from the resources and contributions of all four Kingdoms, designed to match the increase in skill for the competing Huntsmen, and as a symbol of harmony between the four Kingdoms. After the Fall of Beacon, James Ironwood re-purposed Amity Colosseum into Amity Communications Tower, a communications satellite made to replace the Cross Continental Transmit System.
Description Amity Colosseum is an enormous airborne colosseum with an inverted cone shape. The base of the structure is a very large Dust crystal that tapers to a point. Located above the main Dust crystal are two levels of docking bays for Air Buses to offload passengers. The seating area has an incredibly large capacity, able to accommodate large crowds of spectators, with the red seats closest to the arena reserved for contestants and VIPs. Above the seating area are huge holographic screens that display Aura monitors and match footage.
The audience is protected by an invisible forcefield made of Hard-Light Dust that prevents projectiles and objects from leaving the fighting area. This forcefield also acts as a shield, protecting the stadium from external impacts such as Grimm attacks.
Amity Communications Tower After the Fall of Beacon, Amity Colosseum was re-purposed into a communications satellite called Amity Communications Tower, developed by James Ironwood and Pietro Polendina as a replacement for the Cross Continental Transmit System. It was used to send out Ruby Rose's message about Salem across all of Remnant before being damaged by Cinder Fall, causing it to float back down.
History Amity Colosseum was built as the migrating location for the Vytal Festival tournament, with the order of host Kingdoms being Atlas, Vacuo, Mistral, and Vale. The battles fought during the 40th Vytal Festival occurred in the colosseum, including the incidents where Yang Xiao Long was framed for assaulting Mercury Black and Pyrrha Nicos accidentally destroyed Penny Polendina, which were used by Cinder Fall to attract Grimm.
During the Fall of Beacon, the colosseum was left abandoned above Vale. When it returned to Atlas, Ironwood and Pietro Polendina started working on converting it into the Amity Communications Tower. The launch site was Schnee Dust Company Mine 2, where Ironwood decided to give Team RWBY and Team JNPR their Huntsmen licenses.
Later, Ironwood sent scientists to continue converting the colosseum, with Robyn Hill becoming suspicious. During the Battle of Mantle, Ironwood revealed his plan for the colosseum, leading to a confrontation with Arthur Watts. After Ironwood abandoned his original plan, Ruby's group decided to continue it, needing to infiltrate the Atlas Command Center to acquire the launch codes.
Once Penny detonated bombs at the launch site, Amity began raising into the atmosphere, but was attacked by Cinder, Emerald, and Neopolitan before the message could be fully broadcast. The damage to one of Amity's thrusters caused it to descend, with Penny managing to keep it in the atmosphere long enough for the message to be received, before falling from the atmosphere herself.
Arena The tournament matches take place in a large octagonal arena that is capable of changing its environment into eleven different "biomes" including grasslands, forest, volcanic, ice, geyser fields, stormy mountains, desert, ocean, city ruins, gravity arenas, and a swamp. The environmental Dust controls for the arena were created by Arthur Watts.
During the team round, the arena is split evenly into two randomly chosen biomes. In the doubles round, four biomes are chosen. In the singles round, no biomes are present and only the center platform is in bounds. The arena also has artificial weather effects and Dust crystals scattered around for combatants to use.
Trivia
- The name "Amity" signifies the friendly relationship and bond between the four Kingdoms.
- The different components of the colosseum are color-coded to represent the four Kingdoms: white for Atlas, blue for Mistral, orange for Vacuo, and green for Vale.
- Many of the biomes were designed by production artist Erin Winn and modeled by environment artist César Altagracia.
- Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross drew inspiration from shows and games like Super Smash Brothers for the use of environmental hazards in the arena.

Amity Communications Tower
Summary by Section:
Description The Amity Communications Tower is a tall, cylindrical tower that tapers toward the top, with support cables connected to the bottom section. It is attached to the top of Amity Colosseum and seems to be afloat with the support of large Gravity Dust Crystals.
History Shortly after arriving in Atlas, Ruby's Group is apprehended by the Ace Operatives but then taken to Ironwood's office where he explains his plan. Atlas scientists are working on building the tower and making Amity Colosseum capable of being launched high enough into the atmosphere that it cannot be reached by Grimm. The tower will then restore global communications, effectively replacing the Cross Continental Transmit System. Ironwood intends to reveal Salem's existence to the people of Atlas and then use Amity Communications Tower to do the same for the rest of the world.
Construction After securing an abandoned Dust mine as the tower's launch site, Ironwood begins the official construction of the project, funneling a large amount of resources and materials. He assigns teams RWBY, JNR, and Qrow Branwen the duties of escorting supply trucks to the site and clearing out Grimm in the surrounding area.
Internal Issues The Amity Project raises numerous internal issues in Atlas. Jacques Schnee confronts Ironwood over the military taking the former Schnee Dust Company mine without consent. Robyn Hill, a prominent figure of Mantle, opposes the project due to Ironwood neglecting needed repairs for Mantle's defensive walls in favor of the Amity Project. Robyn's Happy Huntresses later raid and steal military shipments of materials for the project, redistributing them to repair Mantle's defenses.
Message to the World After a fallout with Ironwood, Ruby's Group decides to use the incomplete communications tower to warn the world about Salem, using Ironwood's original plan. They infiltrate the Atlas Command Center to obtain access to the tower's launch systems. Pietro, Penny, and Maria use Dust explosions to force the tower up, but Cinder's Faction appears and attempts to stop them, damaging the tower. Penny is able to hoist Amity up and deliver part of Ruby's message to the world before being interrupted by Arthur Watts hacking her systems, causing the tower to descend.

Amoncio Glass
Overview Amoncio Glass is an antagonist and the second boss in RWBY: Arrowfell. He is a member of the Atlas elite who is involved in many shady businesses, including the Arrowfell conflict. With the destruction of Atlas in "The Final Word", his current status is unknown.
Appearance Glass is an overweight middle-aged man with light brown slicker hair, mustache, and copper eyes. He wears a black business suit with a white-collar shirt and bright yellow tie. In additional, he carries a matching color handkerchief in his left breast pocket, a pair of black glasses, and overcoat on his shoulders.
Personality Glass is an arrogant Atlesian elitist who has ties to the conspiracy led by Bram Thornmane against General James Ironwood. According to Weiss Schnee, even someone like her father Jacques Schnee wouldn't do business with Glass. When Team RWBY confront him, he boasts about his reputation and is annoyed when Ruby Rose doesn't really know who he is. After challenging the team to battle, he runs away in fear after seeing them arm themselves before returning with his "Glass Cannon Mk. II", a mechanical suit to fight them.
History At some point Glass became part of the conspiracy against James Ironwood led by Bram Thornmane. Eventually, Glass was able to steal high-tech Atlas Military technology with the help of Olive Harper secretly supplying it to him and armed an entire Atlas mob with it after a weapon furnishing operation that took place in Solitas' southern coast Dust Mine. He was also able to distribute the orbs that attracted the Grimm as well after obtaining the blueprints from Thornmane from Fort Arrowfell.
Harper eventually told Team RWBY of his involvement with the orbs and tell them to confront him in downtown Atlas while warning them about his goons being prepared for them. In reality, Harper was working as Thornmane's mole in the military and helping Glass get his hands on the military technology he provided for his goons.
When they meet Glass in downtown Atlas, he warns them about snooping into his business and about his reputation before Ruby says she really doesn't know who he is which annoys him. After declaring that they would settle it between them, Glass ran away after seeing Team RWBY arm themselves with weapons before returning with the "Glass Cannon MK II", a mechanical suit he used to fight against them.
After they defeated him, Glass told them everything he knew about the conspiracy and the orbs which he told them were bait to attract the Grimm. However, he didn't know much about who else was involved due to the other members using codenames to hide their true identities and everything being done without ever meeting them in person. Once he finishes, he asks them to leave him alone which they do.
Powers and Abilities Despite Glass being fearful of Team RWBY after seeing them arm themselves, he was shown to be a skilled pilot when he used the "Glass Cannon MK II", a mechanical suit to fight against them. The Glass Cannon MK II is extremely durable, can move quickly on tank-like threads and has four arms, each one equipped with a different weapon: A cannon that fires electric orbs forward which change direction and fly downwards when they're above their target, a giant claw that can dislodge large boulders off the ground and toss them as projectiles, a pincer that launches large fire bombs, and a homing missile launcher.

Overview Anesidora is a camera belonging to Velvet Scarlatina which acts as her primary weapon. It is capable of creating solid "light copies" of any weapon Velvet has photographed using Hard-Light Dust, which she can then use in battle. Velvet stores her camera in a small box that she keeps slung from her shoulder. The box is a large black wooden chest with golden metal bands covering the edges and Velvet's heart emblem imprinted on the front.
The camera is a conduit that allows Velvet to create "light copies" of the weapons of other fighters, using the photographs from the camera. The weapons projected from the box appear to be transparent, with a glowing light-blue outline. In conjunction with her Semblance, which allows her to mimic movements, Velvet is able to use these copied weapons with a skill comparable to their original wielder. The weapons come out as projections that are slightly smaller from the original weapon size, presumably to compensate for her own size and build. Despite this, they seem to retain all of their original functions and abilities, even those that are normally fueled by Dust. However, she cannot copy the Semblances of others, only their movements, so weapons that depend on the external application of the user's Semblance, such as Myrtenaster, are less effective than the originals.
Every time Velvet uses one of the weapons she copied, she loses it. Additionally, the copies only last for a brief period, so even a short fight requires her to switch copies several times. She must thus carefully moderate her usage, lest she runs out of copies.
History At some point in the past, Velvet created the initial designs for Anesidora. Her father Will Scarlatina, who was working with the Atlas Military, showed these designs to General James Ironwood, who was impressed with them and gave his approval for the weapon. Due to this, Velvet later finished the final designs to her weapon and was given a constant supply of Hard-Light Dust to power it due to her father's connections with Ironwood.
During the events of "Breach", Velvet is preparing to use the weapon against the invading Grimm when Coco stops her, reminding her that she "spent all semester building that up" and urging her not to "waste it".
In "Destiny", Velvet is seen using a camera from the box, taking pictures of Sun Wukong, Nolan Porfirio, and Brawnz Ni, along with Ruby Rose after her conversation with her. Most students in Beacon Academy were unaware of Anesidora's functions, thus not knowing why she had been taking pictures of weapons.
In "Heroes and Monsters" Velvet uses Anesidora to protect her friends from their attackers. After destroying two Atlesian Paladin-290s, she proceeds to take a picture of a part of Weiss Schnee's Semblance; a giant sword that was summoned. The unique nature of this Semblance manifestation, as a physical object, may have allowed Velvet to copy it as a "weapon".
The Dust embargo imposed by Atlas has forced Velvet to use the weapon more conservatively, to the point that she has taken to blinding opponents with the camera flash over making copies to preserve her supply.
List of Known Weapons Copied The summary includes a detailed table listing the various weapons Velvet has copied using Anesidora, including the original weapon, the copied version, and the source of the original.
Trivia The summary includes several interesting trivia points about Anesidora, including:
- The name "Anesidora" is Ancient Greek for "sender of gifts", and was an alternate name for Pandora, who opened a box that held all the evils in the world. This connects to how when Velvet "opens" her camera to unleash destructive powers.
- According to Monty Oum, this was his favorite weapon in RWBY.
- The hologram versions of the weapons summoned from the box greatly resemble wire-frame models of the original weapons.
- Velvet's copy of Myrtenaster appears to be the sheathed variant Weiss carries at her hip for most its use, as the hilt has two prongs rather than the usual four prongs the active combat variant has.
- Some poses Velvet recreates would realistically be impossible for her to know, likely done for artistic choices to give her more recognizable poses from the show.

Anima
Anima is the continent on which the Kingdom of Mistral is located. Within Mistral are several settlements including the main city of Mistral, Wind Path, Kuchinashi and Argus. Other small settlements exist, located outside the Kingdom.
Anima is home to a wide variety of ecosystems, including swamplands, wind-carved cliffs, burning hot deserts, and a plethora of forests. Anima is also shown to frequently have pouring rain, especially in areas near Mistral.
Landscape
West The western side of the continent is host to various cliffside forests, such as the Forest of Hinoki, which include a plethora of caves and lush foliage, frequently illuminated by fireflies and other bioluminescent creatures and plants. Swamplands can also be found in the western parts of the continent. There are small settlements scattered throughout the land for people that don't want to live in the Kingdom, but they typically lack good defenses and can be destroyed by Grimm or bandit tribes, like the Branwen Tribe.
North The northern coastline of Anima shows a major change in ecosystem, with a large range of snowy mountains, where the city of Argus is located. Due to its snowy and cold terrain, the northern parts of Anima was initially difficult to colonize, as the citizens of Mistral was more used to warmer climates and initially had only minor success in its development. This all changed when Mistral entered into a mutual partnership with the former Kingdom of Mantle. The north-west of the continent features a large body of water known as Lake Matsu, which is host to numerous floating islands held above the water surface by giant natural deposits of gravity Dust. The floating islands of Lake Matsu are known to be a habitat for dangerous Grimm, one known type being the Lancer.
East The eastern parts of Anima were shown to include a desert region with what appears to be volcanic sections near the shoreline. One of the facilities for the Schnee Dust Company was shown to be placed here.
Mistral The city of Mistral, the capital of the Kingdom of Mistral and the biggest settlement on the continent is located roughly in the center of the continent in an area with forresty mountains. The city itself is situated on and around a mountain with two tops. The highest buildings, that include Haven Academy are built on a bridge connecting the two mountain tops.
Native Grimm Anima is home to a variety of Grimm, including Beowolves, Ursai, Nevermores, Beringels, Geists, Nuckelavee, Lancers, Manticores, Sphinxs, Apathy, and Sabyrs.
Trivia
- Anima is the Latin word for "soul".
- Most of the known settlements on the continent are named after East Asian flowers, due to Mistral being heavily inspired by eastern influences.
- The continent itself is partially shaped like a real-world Eastern-traditional dragon, which was formed by the God of Light after he chose to fall into slumber and wait for the time The Gods are called forth by the four Relics. However, the events of The Lost Fable show that this isn't what actually happened.

- #31Antiquity's Roastselective
Keys: Antiquity
Antiquity's Roast
Overview Antiquity's Roast is the weapon of choice for Bartholomew Oobleck. In its default form, it appears as an ordinary green thermos capable of storing and dispensing beverages. However, when called into action, Oobleck can deploy the thermos as a versatile weapon.
Thermos In its thermos form, Antiquity's Roast functions as a traditional container for storing and retrieving liquids, as demonstrated by Oobleck during his lectures.
Flamethrower When transformed, the thermos telescopes into the shape of a torch, with the nozzle entrance at the top serving as a firelighter. From this, Oobleck can shoot several fireballs in a multi-directional manner, akin to missiles. The weapon also has the ability to ignite objects it hits, turning them into flaming projectiles that Oobleck can then bat towards his opponents.
Oobleck can also use the flamethrower function as a melee weapon, able to ignite any adversary he hits at close range. This combination of ranged and close-quarters capabilities allowed Oobleck to take down several Atlesian Paladin-290s in quick succession. The flamethrower effect is likely powered by Dust, giving it the incendiary rocket launcher-like properties.
Image Gallery The content includes an image gallery depicting Antiquity's Roast in both its thermos and active flamethrower forms.
Trivia The name "Antiquity's Roast" is a play on various coffee roast names, while also giving a nod to Oobleck's profession as a historian.

The Apathy
Appearance The Apathy is humanoid in shape, somewhat similar to the Imp, but are very tall, with long arms that reach down as far as the ground and extremely long fingers. They have hideous faces, resembling skulls, some even lacking nostrils, and low-hanging jaws. There are at least four variants to the Apathy's appearance, two being extremely hunched back, whereas the others stand taller.
History At some point, an Apathy was captured for research purposes by Human Nextwork. It was placed in one of their two research labs and in a room with a two way mirror. While one researcher observed it so they could create a unit for it in RWBY: Amity Arena, he started becoming apathetic from the Grimm's screech until he asked for someone to bring him some coffee.
The Apathy was first foreshadowed in "The Coming Storm", but made their proper debut in the following episode, where they begin to affect Ruby Rose and her group. After Ruby inadvertently drops the Relic of Knowledge down the well, she, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long go down to retrieve it, only to encounter the pack of Apathy.
After escaping the Grimm, Maria Calavera reveals that the owner of Brunswick Farms had brought two of the Apathy into his cellar to calm the residents, as to not attract other Grimm. However, the owner was exhausted from the journey and thus lacked the strength to seal them away and decided to seal them the next day.
The owner did seal the tunnels, but only after the rest of the pack had followed their missing members into the farm through the water tunnels beneath and because of this, the residents ultimately died from lacking the strength to get out of bed. The only member whose corpse was found out of their bed was the family Huntsmen whose corpse was found in the tunnels as team RWBY ran past it. Unlike the rest of his family, he seemingly attempted to kill the Apathy but was personally killed by the Grimm themselves.
In "War", the Apathy was one of the types of Grimm spawned from the Grimm Liquid produced by Monstra.
Powers and Abilities The Apathy has the ability to use a scream that weakens their prey by draining their will. This works through remote proximity, but if the Apathy can see their target, the effects become much stronger. If the prey is startled, they are jolted out of these remote effects, albeit temporarily.
Repeated attacks will weaken a target to the point of falling asleep while in combat, or even cause their death while unconscious. They also seem to have the ability to drain willpower from remote proximity, as shown when Team RWBY, Oscar Pine, Qrow Branwen and the former residents of Brunswick Farms were affected, in the latter case killing them in their sleep. While the way how the Apathy kill a victim themselves is never shown on-screen, Connor Pickens stated that the pose of the Huntsmen's corpse in the tunnels give clues as to how they do it.
They tend to attack in packs, using their superior numbers and will-draining powers to bring down their prey and compensate for their lack of inherent physical strength. A single Apathy is less powerful and will take longer to drain willpower than it does for an entire pack of them. When alone, an Apathy is not aggressive and seems almost timid.
Despite their slow movement, emaciated form and general lack of physical power, the Apathy are surprisingly resilient to damage. They were shot multiple times with Crescent Rose at point-blank range, yet it had no effect. Only when Ruby used her Silver Eyes, and when Weiss subsequently ignited the remaining Apathy on fire, were they finally killed.
Trivia
- Miles Luna has stated the idea for the story with the Apathy pack in Brunswick Farms existed before Volume 1 was even written and the Apathy is his favorite Grimm.
- He also states that the Apathy would have first appeared in Volume 4 as one of the many monsters encountered by Team RNJR.
- Patrick Rodriguez created the first designs for the Apathy, which he stated that forced him to take breaks as he "kept scaring and depressing myself." He originally imagined it "skittering about" with the sound of its bones hitting against surfaces, but the design was scrapped because it "looked too fast".
- The job was subsequently inherited by Aromie "InkYou24" Kim, a fan artist hired after designing the Manticore, who took inspiration from Stephen Gammell's illustrations in the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series.
- Miles based the Apathy on a mixture of a photograph of a scarecrow that he saw on Reddit, the short story Bartleby the Scrivener and the origin of the Reavers in Serenity.
- The Apathy scream and its effects are based on ReDeads from the video game The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and it was Kerry Shawcross' idea to use this as a basis.
- When it came to animating the Apathy, animation director Joel Mann said that asymmetry was something they tried to focus on just to try and make them as creepy and unnatural as possible.
- The writers felt that the Apathy fit into the story of Volume 6 because the characters are at a low point.
- Despite Maria saying they are not strong and Miles Luna himself describing them as "weak and frail", they are shown to be quite durable as they do not take any significant damage from Crescent Rose or being incinerated.
- Apathy means without emotion, will, concern or feeling, which is befitting given their power.
- Kerry Shawcross came up with the idea of how exactly the Apathy kill their victims themselves with Miles Luna telling Kerry it was "One of the darkest things you've ever said". While they don't go much more into detail about it, Connor Pickens stated that there are clues in the pose of the dead Huntsmen in the tunnels.

Argento Pocoron
Argento Pocoron is a character from RWBY: Before the Dawn. He was a former Huntsman hailing from Shade Academy who deserted in order to restore the Vacuan monarchy, serving as an enforcer for The Crown.
Appearance Argento is a lanky man who wore a brown jumpsuit and combat boots, with a brown patterned bandana covering his hair and eyes, as well as a silver armband on his right arm and a gas mask. He is a pig Faunus, having ears as a trait.
Personality Argento is shown to be supportive of the Crown's plans and goals, serving under his former teammate without hesitation. He has no qualms with kidnapping others and wishes for the Asturias to rule over Vacuo.
Powers and Abilities Argento is shown to have immense agility and martial arts skills similar to that of Sun Wukong. As a pig Faunus, he has exceptional hearing.
Semblance Argento's Semblance is Lag, in which he is able to make the target slightly slower than they can initially perceive, causing Argento to be able to dodge attacks he'd otherwise be unable to and deal damage he'd be unable to do. Sun compares it to playing a video game with a busted controller.
History Sometime before the beginning of the novel, Argento enrolled into Shade Academy, where he met and formed a team with Gillian Asturias, Rosa Schwein, and Jax Asturias. After Jax was expelled, he and his team set out to restore the Vacuan monarchy with the Asturias as their rulers.
Originally identified as "Brown", Argento is one of three criminals who fight Sun Wukong along with Pink and Green after he spots them stalking a woman in a nightclub. At first seeming to be simple thieves in masks, they are shown to be formidable opponents who are described as invincible by Sun, and later Velvet Scarlatina and Yatsuhashi Daichi who assist him. The trio escapes after Team CFVY makes an appearance.
During patrol, Fox Alistair and Coco Adel spot a merchant being stalked by Green and Argento, who attempt to kidnap him. The Huntsmen intervene, in which Fox notices the assailants have almost identical Auras. A chase ensues, leading the group to an abandoned building. Inside, Fox senses around 50 Auras identical to the two, one more familiar - Xanthe Rumpole's. Argento and Green escape, and Coco decides to confront Rumpole the next day.
Argento later joins Gillian and Rosa in the Crown Bunker as they prepare for war, amongst the Crown's army. After this, Rosa and Argento go to Finn Asturias' home, warning him to leave Vacuo and go to Vale for the upcoming war.
He participates at the Battle of Shade and is eventually arrested following the Crown's defeat.
Though Jax and Gillian were eventually broken out of prison, it's currently unknown if Argento was freed alongside them.
Trivia Allusion The three Crown criminals Argento Pocoron, Rosa Schwein and Green possibly allude to The Three Little Pigs. Rosa Schwein's name translates to "pink pig", Argento is a pig Faunus and Green's stench Semblance could reference pigs.
Color Naming Rule "Argento" is a combining form meaning "silver," used in the formation of compound words: argento-cuprous sulfide.
Character & Design In the novels, Argento's nickname, Brown, is occasionally listed as Silver by mistake. This is likely due to the character's nickname originally intended to be Silver but was later changed to be Brown.

Argus
Overview Argus is a port city in the northern region of the Kingdom of Mistral, and acts as the major trading center between the continents of Anima and Solitas. It is among the largest non-capital cities in all of Remnant. The southern edge of Argus is bordered by a stone wall several stories tall with a single large gate allowing for road access. The city has cobblestone streets and has a transit system with streetcar-like hovering vehicles following a groove in the roadway. Most of the buildings are brick, only a few stories in height and bear resemblance to the real-world Victorian style of houses. The city is built over hilly terrain, with a large natural harbor.
Argus Military Base The Kingdom of Atlas has their largest foreign military base on an island just off the coast of Argus, on the other end of a large suspension bridge.
Sanctum Academy The city is the location of Sanctum Academy, one of Mistral's primary Huntsman Academies.
Pyrrha Nikos Memorial Park A memorial park was built for famous Vale Huntress and Vytal Tournament finalist Pyrrha Nikos, who died during the Fall of Beacon.
CCTS Relay Tower Argus has one of the support relay towers of the Cross Continental Transmit System, located on the cliff above the city, surrounded by a forest.
City Defenses The city has Hard-Light Dust barriers that activate via towers that emerge from underwater should large Grimm surface and attack the city. The towers create two rings of hard light, but are vulnerable to direct attacks. On the opposite side of the city is a large stone wall, about five stories in height, with a single large archway for passage, manned by Atlesian infantry. The city's main offensive force are the numerous Manta airships stationed at the Argus Military Base, as well as the Colossus, the giant mech created to fight giant Grimm.
History Argus was originally founded by settlers from Mistral, who struggled with the local climate. An influx of settlers from the kingdom of Atlas resulted in strong trading links between the two kingdoms. The city is part of Mistral, but the city is so important to Atlesian commerce that the kingdom keeps a significant military presence to help protect the city.
Before the events of RWBY, Spider and Lil' Miss Malachite had allied themselves with the Kuchinashi organization, Wave and its leader Lemon. Together, they'd perform a heist on an Atlesian shipment in the city of Argus, stealing a newly-created fabric material that adapted to light, making the wearer invisible.
After the death of Pyrrha Nikos during the Battle of Beacon, a memorial statue was built in her honor in a city park since she graduated from Sanctum.
The people of Argus later receive Ruby Rose's message to Remnant in "Amity" thanks to the Amity Communications Tower. She publicly reveals the existence of Salem and tries to ask for assistance in the Kingdom of Atlas, but the broadcast is cut off before it can finish. In the end though, nobody came to help Atlas as it is destroyed in "The Final Word".

Overview: The Argus Limited is a train that transports passengers and cargo between the City of Mistral and the port of Argus on the Northern Coastline of Anima. The train operates through Grimm-filled territory, so the train operator employs Huntsmen to protect the train and passengers from Grimm attacks.
The Argus Limited has various types of cars, including baggage, coach, sleeping, and dining cars. This indicates it is at least an overnight trip between Mistral and Argus. Each car is two stories high and has a single roof-mounted turret and retractable armored plating, both of which are controlled by the Scroll of the train's Huntsmen.
Route: The Argus Limited runs through mountainous terrain in the northern part of Anima, passing through at least one tunnel. From the name of the train, it makes several stops between Mistral and Argus.
Incident: Following the events of the "Argus Limited" episode, half of the train was destroyed and derailed in the snowy mountains off Anima.

Military Base in Argus
Overview The Military Base in Argus is the largest Atlesian Military facility outside of Atlas. It is built upon several islands in Argus' harbor and is connected to the mainland by a large suspension bridge. Each island is identified by the letter A and a number.
Island A1 has a large rock spire, which has been dug into to house the base's Colossus. Island A2 is the storage and landing pad for the base's fleet of Mantas. A third smaller island is also present, presumably this would be Island A3, its exact function is unclear.
Argus is part of Mistral, but the city was of great importance to Atlesian commerce. Thus, the Atlesians constructed the base in the harbor in order to protect the city from Grimm attacks. At some point, Caroline Cordovin came to be stationed at the base and was appointed as leader of the Atlesian presence mainly due to her coworkers wanting to get her as far away from Atlas as possible.
Following the events of the 40th Vytal Festival, relations between Atlas and the rest of the world began to deteriorate, and those between the Atlesian troops and the Argus populace are no exception. Caroline enforced James Ironwood's decision to close Atlas' borders and restrict transportation to the Kingdom.
After Ruby's Group attempted to convince the forces there to help them reach Atlas, Cordovin and her men refused to help the majority of them except Weiss Schnee due to being an Atlesian and the ex-heiress of the Schnee Dust Company. Later when a Leviathan attacked Argus, the soldiers stationed there attempted to stop it and refused to help Ruby's Group deal with it due to them still being listed as hostiles for stealing a Manta.
After the destruction of Atlas in "The Final Word", the Argus Military Base was the only major military base left outside of the Kingdom due to the vast majority of the military being destroyed with the Kingdom.
Notable Soldiers The base is led by Caroline Cordovin, who was stationed there mainly due to her coworkers wanting to get her as far away from Atlas as possible. Another notable soldier is Nubuck.
Image Gallery The provided images show various aspects of the military base, including the layout, the Colossus hangar, the Manta airships, the control center, and the deployment of the base's shield barriers.
Trivia The design for the city of Argus was based around the location of San Francisco, California, and as a result, the military base is based around Alcatraz Island. Cordovin and the rest of the Atlas personnel stationed in Argus are not meant to be representative of Atlas. Cordovin herself was intentionally stationed in Argus because she was considered a nuisance to the rest of Atlas and it was a job they believed she could do well without bothering anyone.

Arrastra's Story
Summary of Background: Arrastra's story takes place two years before the events of RWBY. Arrastra hails from a long family line of miners and studied at Haven Academy, where she met Pyke Rite. At some point, Arrastra's family was owed a massive debt by an unnamed banker who disappeared without paying.
Summary of The Kuchinashi Incident: In RWBY: The Grimm Campaign, Arrastra, Pyke, Asher, and Fenix all accept the same mission to reach a southern Anima port, where they are picked up by a dropship. On the way, they receive a warning from Qrow Branwen about increased underworld activity and Grimm attacks. The dropship is attacked by Grimm, forcing the group to jump off and make their way to the city of Kuchinashi.
Upon arriving, the group encounters Lancers attacking the city's checkpoint. Pyke fights the Lancers while the others fend off Grimm. They make it to the city, where they are met by Alabaster, the city's Huntsman sheriff. Alabaster informs them that the city's defenses have been sabotaged, likely by the local crime families. He directs the group to The Skillful, a tavern frequented by the city's dangerous individuals, where they are to speak to a woman named Opal.
At The Skillful, the group encounters Team SMMK, a boastful group of Huntsmen. A bar fight breaks out, leading to the teams being kicked out. The group then ventures into the Hedges, a maze-like area of the city, where they learn about the Taskmaster, a mysterious Huntsman, and the Hana Guild's involvement in the Grimm attacks. They also discover that the Pastel Company has been excavating in the northern mountain pass, where they find evidence of the company's experiments on Grimm.
The group is ambushed by Team SMMK, who demand they leave Kuchinashi. When the group refuses, SMMK triggers a landslide, leading to the group's arrest by Alabaster. In jail, the Taskmaster, revealed to be their lawyer, offers the group information about their personal matters in exchange for their help in infiltrating the Pastel Estate.
Summary of the Heist at Pastel Estate: The group accepts the Taskmaster's offer and spends the next few days preparing for the heist. On the day of the auction at the Pastel Estate, the group splits up to carry out various tasks. Arrastra discovers a secret tunnel in the estate, leading the group deeper underground, where they find evidence of the Pastel Company's experiments on Grimm.
The group discovers that the Grimm have been affected by a mysterious item, labeled "03", which Javi Pastel had used to control the Grimm. They also learn of two other items, "05" and "08", still in the facility. As the group makes their way out of the underground facility, they realize that Kuchinashi is under attack by the Grimm, with the Wave taking advantage of the chaos.

Arslan's Weapons
Overview Arslan's weapons are a pair of unique tools that she uses in combat. The first is a metallic dagger with a detachable blade that is trailed by a chain, commonly known as a rope dart or rope javelin. It features an ornate steel lion head carving on its handle.
Arslan also uses a hand wrapping on her sleeved arm which contains a Fire Dust crystal on her palm. This allows her to "punch" fire. The wrapping is also able to fire a rope, which is capable of tripping opponents, demonstrated when Arslan tied the string around Yang Xiao Long's foot, causing her to lose her balance.
Arslan can fasten the rope to terrain to use it as a sort of grappling hook or swing rope, which is particularly useful in the slippery ice environment of Team ABRN's match with Team RWBY. She is also seen doing this with the chain whip in "Battle of Beacon" when she attaches the blade to a Nevermore in order to lift Yatsuhashi Daichi and throw him in the air. This indicates that the rope attached to the dart is very strong, being able to carry the combined mass of Arslan and Yatsuhashi without breaking or releasing its dart from the opponent.
Image Gallery The image gallery shows Arslan's rope dart, dagger, and Fire Dust hand wrapping.

Arslan Altan
Overview Arslan Altan is the leader of Team ABRN. She was first revealed at the RTX 2015 RWBY Panel on August 7th, 2015. Arslan is seen fighting Yang Xiao Long during the Vytal Festival Tournament.
Appearance Arslan has a dark complexion, platinum blonde hair and olive green eyes. She wears a yellow robe with only one wide, loose-fitting sleeve over a black tube top. She also has black pants and shoes and a red sash embroidered with a white "endless knot" on it.
Arslan has bandages on both her legs and arms as well as a red necklace and what appears to be two matching red sticks on the back left side of her head. In her concept art, she wore both sleeves, which hung loosely at her side, exposing her shoulders. Her tank top also had straps. She wore boots instead of shoes and lacked the pins in her hair and necklace. In their place, she had red bands in her hair.
Personality Arslan is a no-nonsense and serious girl who is motivated to prove herself as a leader and a capable Huntress. She is highly protective of her teammates, showing a deeply caring nature towards them, as shown when she defends Velvet Scarlatina from Xanthe Rumpole. Arslan is described as an amazing natural leader by Scarlet David, who deserves better.
Arslan is also highly courageous, as shown by being amongst the first to step to defend Shade Academy, and is more patient than her teammates in ABRN.
Powers and Abilities Arslan is shown to be skilled at hand-to-hand combat, being evenly-matched against Yang in both speed and physical strength, despite the fact Arslan fights barehanded. Her strength is later demonstrated once more when she swings down a Nevermore and lifted the taller and bulkier Yatsuhashi Daichi with a single arm before throwing him into the air with ease.
According to RWBY: Amity Arena, Arslan is extremely proficient in the use of her Aura. Among her Aura techniques, Arslan can focus it all into a single large hit, which she can use to shatter objects such as large, rolling balls of ice. She is also listed as having extremely high physical capabilities.
She appears to be one of the stronger, if not the strongest member of her team, and she saves her teammates Bolin Hori and Nadir Shiko from being knocked out of the ring. Ultimately, however, Arslan and her team are outclassed by Team RWBY.
Weapons Arslan's weapons of choice is a dagger which is able to shot from the hilt and connect to a chain, and a First Dust hand wrapping which she attached to her palm, allowing her to "punch" flames. She is proficient with the dart, being able to trip up her opponents and catch them off-guard with it and even using it while she is simultaneously avoiding her opponent's attacks, jumping and flipping over the thread before launching it towards them to catch them when they least expect it.
She can also use her rope dart to swing around objects and even using it to swing herself in an arc down a Nevermore before bringing herself back into the air with it.
Trivia Allusion Arslan alludes to Aslan the Lion from C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia series.
Color Naming Rule Arslan is Turkish and Mongolian for "Lion". Altan means "red dawn" in many Turkic languages and "golden" in Mongolian. Altan (Telgey) is a Mongolian earth goddess.
Character & Design When asked what color Arslan's eyes were, her character designer, Erin Winn responded that she calls them olive green.
The fighting styles of Team ABRN (particularly Arslan) were stated on the DVD commentaries to be intended to have an Eastern martial arts influence to reflect the fact that they come from Haven.
Arslan's emblem is an endless knot, a symbol with strong religious significance that is primarily tied to Tibetan Buddhism. The endless knot symbolizes the infinite love and interdependence of all things.

Arslan
Overview Arslan and her team are students at Haven Academy, from the kingdom of Mistral. Her team journeyed to participate in the 40th Vytal Festival combat tournament, hosted by the kingdom of Vale, but they were defeated by Team RWBY in the team round of the tournament.
When Vale is assaulted by the Grimm and the White Fang, Arslan participates in taking down the Nevermore in Amity Colosseum. In this short fight, she propels Yatsuhashi to deliver the killing blow, along with Sage Ayana, after she retrieves her weapon. Later on, she defends Beacon Academy with the rest of the students.
History After the Fall Velvet Scarlatina states Arslan and her team were observed defeating a Death Stalker at the Fall of Beacon.
Team ABRN had gone back to Haven Academy after the Battle of Beacon with Neptune Vasilias, Scarlet David, and Sage Ayana, where they watched their school nearly fall to the White Fang's attack. Like SSSN, they were one of the teams who had decided to continue their training in Shade rather than losing another semester. ABRN had beaten them to Vacuo by a few weeks, as Sun Wukong had insisted on taking SSSN through the scenic route.
The Battle of Shade Arslan is present for the Beacon Brigade's meetings alongside her team, in which they discuss Shade Academy's students.
Arslan participates in the Shade re-initiation, being drafted as a member of Team NOVA. She joins a class with Team ROSC and Team NOVA, and watches a sparring match between Velvet and Nebula Violette, taught by Rumpole. After Velvet's defeat, Rumpole orders Nebula to beat on Velvet under her Aura is broken, as a method of strengthening. Arslan and Coco Adel come to Velvet's aid, telling Rumpole there was no point and Nebula had clearly won the fight.
During Team NOVA's second mission to Coquina, the team is told to help fix a CCT relay tower. When Octavia Ember uses children as bait for the Grimm, Arslan and Velvet scold her for the risk of having them killed, though these warnings fall on deaf ears. Arslan thanks Velvet for her work, and praises her mechanical skills in fixing the relay tower.
Arslan later participates in the Battle of Shade, and is amongst the first to come to its aid along with the rest of the Beacon Brigade and later celebrates their victory with the group.

Arthur Watts
Appearance Watts was a tall middle-aged man with a slim build and slightly tanned skin. He had short black and gray hair as well as a thick mustache and eyebrows, and green eyes. Originally, Arthur wore a grey overcoat with yellow linings, a yellow dress shirt, and a black necktie. His pants were the same color as his overcoat. His yellow-buttoned undercoat and fingerless gloves matched his cordovan shoes, under which he wore yellow socks.
Following his arrival in Atlas, Watts began to wear a large, symmetrical purple and pink coat with fur lining along its hood. Additionally, he wore four rings on each hand, which he could use to hack Atlesian technology.
After his battle with James Ironwood, the right side of Arthur's face was left with friction burns after being dragged across the floor by Ironwood, where he was defeated. His right eye was somewhat damaged by this.
Past In "Worst Case Scenario", it was revealed that when Watts had worked with Pietro Polendina, he wore a yellow turtleneck sweater underneath a white lab coat along with light gray pants and black shoes. His hair was black, and his mustache was thinner at the time.
Personality Watts was a formal and sophisticated man. He spoke in a refined accent, yet he could be arrogant and condescending, even to his allies. However, he was humble enough to not take credit for things he didn't achieve by himself, for when Salem initially thought he found out where the Spring Maiden was, he revealed it was Qrow Branwen when he spoke to Leonardo Lionheart.
Watts stated that he had a very low opinion of failure, which extended to Cinder Fall after she was defeated by Ruby Rose. He criticized and belittled Cinder and enjoyed provoking her every chance he got, especially since she couldn't talk back. He also looked down upon her underlings, Emerald Sustrai and Mercury Black. However, Salem chastised him for his needless "malignance", and he avoided speaking out of line in her presence. When not in Salem's presence he would accurately point to why the person failed and how they could improve very bluntly and very rarely showed regret for what he said. However, his tendency to insult people ended up backfiring and got him harmed as seen with individuals like Cinder and Ironwood.
Arthur also had a tendency to become interested in new topics of study. Case in point, when he and Lionheart reported to Salem about the location of the Spring Maiden, Arthur showed immense interest in the Seer. Because of this habit, he showed no interest in unlocking his own Semblance due to believing that the time needed would be better used for his research.
Even before his apparent fall from grace in his field, Arthur had a self-serving and strategic mindset, creating a backdoor in Mantle's security network for his own personal use and potential exploitation. He was shown to be spiteful and vengeful, with his apparent motive behind joining Salem being rage against Ironwood and Pietro Polendina, claiming Ironwood never appreciated his genius and made an effort to spite James after he managing to get Jacques Schnee on his side.
This grudge against Ironwood and Pietro also heavily emphasized that Watts, similar to his associate Cinder, possessed a massive ego and intense pride in his abilities and talents, and took great offense when Ironwood refused to acknowledge the greatness of his genius and felt a severe blow to his pride when the General selected Pietro's work over his own. An aspect of this is the fact that Watts was never able to wrap his head around the idea of a soul transfer, and he greatly underestimated Penny's cognitive capabilities because of this.
Watts was rather sadistic, as shown in his evident satisfaction in trapping James Ironwood's organic left arm during their fight within Amity Tower, and when he laughed when he armed Ironwood's bomb after Harriet failed too. In "The Enemy of Trust", Watts contently smiled when he saw Salem and her incoming army finally arrived in Atlas due to believing she would destroy the Kingdom. However, he didn't relish in the pain and fear of his enemies to the same extent as his colleagues, Cinder Fall and Tyrian Callows.
He was also a cunning and opportunistic individual as when he was coerced into working for Ironwood with the threat of being shot if he didn't comply, Watts was able to take advantage of a moment of distraction from Ironwood and his subordinates to discretely hack into Penny and caused her to fall to the ground before managing to make it look like it wasn't his fault, and taunted Ironwood into throwing a Scroll at him which he hid and took with him when Ironwood's soldiers escorted him back to his cell, allowing him to contact Salem while in prison.
When threatened by Cinder in "Ultimatum", Watts showed no fear of dying. Notably, instead of freaking out when she held him by the edge of building, he harshly called her out on all of her failures. However, in "The Final Word", he was shown screaming out in fear after he was trapped in the burning control room, suggesting he did fear dying, just not by Cinder's hand.
Powers and Abilities Watts was a masterful scientist, specializing in the fields of computer engineering, mechanical engineering, anatomical engineering, espionage, guerrilla warfare, and security systems. He was held in high regard by Salem, who typically addressed him by his title of "Doctor", which indicated her respect for his capabilities.
Watts' fighting style was very methodical, keeping track of the number of shots fired by himself and his opponents. He was also somewhat agile for his age, moving deftly using his rings to create Hard-Light Dust projections to create platforms across vast distances. He even was able to use his projections similarly to bear traps, serving to pin his targets' limbs in place at the risk of burning off a great deal of flesh if they attempted to flee. In addition, he displayed some skill in close quarters fighting, briefly defending himself against James Ironwood's attacks while landing a few blows in return.
However, he wasn't very physically durable, as he was taken down by a few direct hits from Ironwood and he never discovered his Semblance.
Programming & Hacking Arthur's main role in Salem's group was the manipulation of technology: in the starting stages of starting the Fall of Beacon, Watts was the one who developed the Black Queen virus Cinder used to hack into the CCT tower in "Dance Dance Infiltration" and allowed her to control communications and even aspects of the Vytal Festival's tournament, such as selecting the otherwise randomized team matches. His emblem was visible in her Scroll when using the virus. The virus was also able to take control of Atlas' robot soldiers and turn them against the Kingdom. His expertise in virus creation was seen again when he installed a chip in a sword stolen from Penny Polendina that was able to transmit a virus to command her to open the Atlas Vault and ultimately self-destruct.
In "A New Approach", he mentioned that he made the code used in Mantle's systems, and in "As Above, So Below" Ironwood confirmed that he designed Mantle's entire security network and was seen manipulating the cameras so he wouldn't be exposed.
Watts' acumen in technology and computer systems, along with rings on almost every finger, allowed him to synchronize an array of Scrolls to hack into the Atlesian security systems. In "A Night Off", the use of multiple, small Scrolls to make up the processing power of a single, centralized system permitted Watts to remain mobile and difficult to locate, playing into his pragmatic and strategic mindset. He was also able to frame Penny for the murder of several Mantle citizens by manipulating the recordings of her fight against Tyrian. Through the use of Jacques' new credentials, Watts neutralized the heating grid, which led to a Grimm invasion in Mantle.
Amongst Watt's inventions included environmental Dust controls and the prototype of the Atlesian Paladin-290.
In Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen, Part Two, it was revealed he made a digital backup of his consciousness should the Atlas plan fail showing he is smart enough to make backups of the human mind.
Prosthetics He was also able to give Tyrian Callows a new stinger after his old one got cut off by Ruby, displaying prowess in biomechanical engineering. The new stinger and tail that he constructed didn't appear to inhibit Tyrian's production of venom, but rather use it, with the addition of making the actual stinger itself retractable, while the segments to the tail seamlessly mesh with the organic base's flexibility and range of motion.
Weapons Watts' weapon of choice was his Revolver, which appeared to be ornate and golden, having a double barrel, which contained a total of 20 shots.
Watts' eight Rings could also be used in combat, possessing the ability to create hexagonal Hard-Light Dust shields to protect him from bullets and even utilize the shields themselves as platforms to travel around mid-air, granting him additional mobility. The shields themselves were strong enough to protect himself from several shots from Due Process.
Additionally, the Rings also possessed a trap function, whereby placing the Rings in four corners to shape box-like magnets and activating them, Watts could handcuff a person by literally trapping one of his opponent's limbs in a Hard-Light shield that, if attempted to forcibly remove by sliding past it, would severely burn and even permanently damage their limb.
Trivia Allusion Arthur Watts alludes to Dr. John Watson, from the Sherlock Holmes stories by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, if he had connected with Professor James Moriarty instead of Sherlock Holmes. The name Arthur likely alludes to Doyle himself.
Color Naming Rule The name Arthur comes from the Roman clan's name Artorius, which is derived from Arto-rīg-ios/Artorījos, latinised Celtic for "Son of the Bear/Warrior-King". This is further supported in the root of Arth, Welsh for "Bear", which brings to mind brown colors.
A "watt" is a unit of power used to express the rate of energy transfer which is generally correlated to electricity in modernized society. As a result, it invokes the colors associated with electricity especially shades of yellow, blue, and white seen in lightning.
Story The same "W" symbol that was present when Cinder was rigging the Vytal Festival tournament rounds appeared on his customized personal Scroll, as a hologram in "Welcome to Haven" when Watts spoke to Lionheart, and a microchip that Watts used to hack Penny Polendina with one of the Floating Arrays in "Amity".
Watts, like Roman Torchwick and Mercury Black, are notable for being some of the rare active fighters that succeeded without ever discovering their Semblance. According to Miles Luna, Watts never unlocked his Semblance because he simply never had any interest in doing so.
Out of all the members of Salem's Inner Circle, Watts is the only one not to have any interaction with the members of Team RWBY in the main series.
Miscellaneous He was jokingly referred to as "Daddy Long Legs" by Kerry Shawcross.
Kerry Shawcross, Miles Luna and Kiersi Burkhart joked that Watts always uses proper capitals and punctuation in his text messages as well as always signing his name at the bottom.

Battles Watts participated in one known battle:
Ironwood vs. Watts
- Occurred in the episode "Gravity"
- Watts lost the battle against Ironwood
Background
- Watts was one of Salem's associates, though how he came to join her group is unknown.
- Prior to the start of the series, Watts was a scientist and doctor in Atlas who had worked with Pietro Polendina and other Atlesian scientists.
- His creations included the network in Mantle, environmental Dust controls, and the Atlesian Paladins.
- Watts was familiar with Jacques Schnee, and later faked his own death after being disgraced, causing everyone in Atlas to believe he had died in the "Paladin Incident."
RWBY Aiding the Fall of Beacon
- Watts' "W" symbol was seen on Cinder Fall's Scroll as she orchestrated her machinations against the Vytal Festival Tournament.
- This implies Watts was behind the virus Cinder implanted into Vale's CCT tower, allowing her to rig the tournament matchups and gain access to Ironwood's Scroll and airship.
Meeting with Salem
- Watts attended a meeting with Salem's other associates, including Hazel, Tyrian, Cinder, and Salem herself.
- At the meeting, Watts belittled Cinder for losing to Ruby Rose and mildly insulted Mercury Black, but was chastised by Salem for his "malignancy."
- Watts was assigned to take over Cinder's duties, with his first directive being to meet with the group's informant in Mistral.
In Anima
- Watts met with Leonardo Lionheart, the Haven Academy headmaster, to establish an in-person presence for Salem's Inner Circle with their informant.
- Watts overheard when Qrow and Team RNJR arrived and learned the location of the Spring Maiden.
- Watts then escorted Lionheart to a Seer to communicate with Salem, who ordered Cinder to meet with Watts and prepare to negotiate with Raven Branwen.
- Watts was also ordered to make a new tail for Tyrian, which had been cut off during his confrontation with Ruby and her allies.
- Watts met with Cinder, Emerald, and Mercury at the Branwen Tribe's camp to negotiate with Raven, offering her "forgiveness" from Salem if she had Vernal open the chamber to the Relic of Knowledge.
- However, when Raven demanded Qrow's death, Cinder eagerly agreed, causing Watts to try and stop her, but he was forced to pull back when Cinder burned his hand.
After the Attack on Haven
- Following the Battle of Haven, Watts watched as Salem forced Hazel and Emerald to place the fault of their loss on Cinder.
- Watts was stunned and questioned how Salem knew about Cinder's condition, but later apologized when she glared at him and Tyrian.
- After Hazel revealed that Ozpin was taking the Relic of Knowledge to Atlas, all of Salem's subordinates were ordered to leave the room before Salem unleashed her rage.
- Sometime later, Watts left for Atlas with Tyrian, as ordered by Salem.
Preparing for Salem's Arrival
- In Mantle, Watts secretly communicated with Tyrian, reminding him that staying mobile would prevent them from being discovered.
- Watts commented on how the cyber security in Atlas had been updated, while in Mantle the code had not been updated, which he had hacked to control the security cameras.
- Watts then visited Jacques Schnee at the Schnee Manor, proposing a plan where the Schnee could succeed in aiding his company and obtaining the electoral votes needed to be put on the council.
- On the night of the Atlas Council election, Watts hacked a drone at Robyn Hill's premature victory party, allowing Tyrian to attack the attendees. Watts then doctored video footage to frame Penny for the attack.
- Watts also shut down Mantle's heating grid, causing the citizens to riot and create a bonfire, leading to a Grimm invasion.
- Watts later sabotaged Ironwood's plans at Amity Colosseum, using the arena's biome system to battle Ironwood. However, Ironwood ultimately defeated Watts, who was then arrested and sent to a prison cell.
Imprisoned
- In his prison cell, Watts listened as Robyn blamed Jacques for helping tear the people apart.
- Watts was then taken to Pietro's Lab, where Ironwood forced him to aid in regaining control of Penny and accessing the Atlas Vault.
- Watts hacked into Penny's systems, causing her to lose consciousness and drop from the sky, interrupting Ruby's broadcast.
- Watts later used Ironwood's broken Scroll to contact Tyrian and inform Salem of his imprisonment and Penny's status as the new Winter Maiden.
Jailbreak
- During the war in Atlas, Cinder freed Watts from prison so he could help her find Penny.
- When a massive explosion erupted from within Monstra, Watts and Cinder were shocked and confused, unable to contact their allies inside.
- Cinder threatened Watts, angry that he had simply infected Penny with a virus rather than bringing her to Cinder. Watts laughed and ranted about Cinder's failures, causing her to become emotional.
- Watts and Cinder later received a message from Neopolitan, who intended to use the Relic of Knowledge against them.
Interfering with the Enemy's plans
- Watts participated in an assault on an Atlas Command Center, where he used his hacking skills to prevent Jaune's warning to the citizens and block all Kingdom-wide broadcasts.
- Watts also released Ironwood from his cell and took control of an AK-200 to try and take out the remaining Ace-Ops, Qrow, and Robyn.
- As Harriet attempted to drop the bomb, Watts hacked the autopilot.
Death
- As Qrow, Robyn, and the Ace-Ops prevented the payload from falling, Watts activated the bomb remotely.
- After Cinder betrayed Watts by using the Staff of Creation to set endless flames on Atlas, leaving him trapped, Watts was last seen unsuccessfully attempting to escape the command center as Atlas crashed into Mantle.
Legacy
- It is revealed in "Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen, Part Two" that before his death, Watts had created a digital copy of his mind that was uploaded to Cyber Space, where it was found and transported to the DC Universe to continue his desires.

{{Arthur Watts Tabber}}
==Affiliations== ===[[Atlas]]=== Summary: Arthur Watts was a former Atlesian scientist who was disgraced due to a disastrous incident, the exact circumstances of which are unknown, but General Ironwood seemed to have played a role. Prior to this, Watts was one of Atlas' leading scientific minds, having invented and assisted in developing the security systems of Mantle and Atlas, and worked with Pietro Polendina on defensive military technology. However, despite his service, Watts had little loyalty to Atlas and created a secret backdoor into the kingdom's security system for his own use. After being disgraced, Watts showed no remorse and actively assisted Salem in her plans to destroy the Kingdoms of Remnant and obtain the Relics, providing Cinder with a virus to infiltrate and control the Vytal Festival selection system and Atlas drones during the Fall of Beacon. Watts deeply despised his former home kingdom and was delighted when Cinder offered to help him finish destroying it. He would ultimately perish with Atlas when it crashed into Mantle.
==[[Salem's Inner Circle]]== ===[[Salem]]=== Summary: Watts was a member of Salem's group, having provided Cinder with the virus to rig the Vytal Festival. He joined out of spite for Ironwood and Atlas. Watts was loyal and respectful toward Salem, though his faith in her was not absolute, as he initially doubted Cinder was still alive. Salem boosted Watts' ego to manipulate him more easily. When Watts was arrested and defeated by Ironwood, he was pleased when Salem's army arrived in Atlas. Watts later successfully relayed to Salem his progress in gaining control of the Winter Maiden, pleasing her and leading her to order Cinder to free him.
===[[Tyrian Callows]]=== Summary: Despite their vastly different personalities and aspirations, Watts and Tyrian were arguably the most effective of Salem's teams, with Watts coming up with the plans and Tyrian carrying them out. They worked amicably together, and Watts took no issue with Salem's request to have a new tail made for Tyrian. Watts and Tyrian frequently coordinated their activities in Mantle, with Watts praising Tyrian for his actions and the two watching the chaos unfold together.
==[[Cinder's Faction]]== ===[[Cinder Fall]]=== Summary: Watts looked down on Cinder after she was thwarted by Ruby, greatly enjoying tormenting and angering her. They had a preexisting rivalry, and Watts did not provide a prosthetic arm for Cinder after her injury, leaving that to Salem. Watts worked with Cinder to pressure Raven Branwen, but warned Cinder against seeking revenge on Ruby, which Cinder dismissed. After Watts' capture, Salem ordered Cinder to rescue him, and they began cooperating more, though their relationship remained volatile. Cinder ultimately left Watts behind to die in Atlas.
===[[Emerald Sustrai]] and [[Mercury Black]]=== Summary: Watts treated Emerald and Mercury with disdain, derisively calling them Cinder's "posse" and insulting them whenever he could.
==[[Ozpin's Group]]== ===[[Ozpin]]=== Summary: Watts was initially relieved to hear of Ozpin's death, but was not surprised when Hazel revealed he was taking the Relic to Atlas, apparently knowing of Ozpin's ability to reincarnate.
===[[Leonardo Lionheart]]=== Summary: Lionheart was Salem's mole in Mistral, and Watts served as Salem's representative to him. Watts treated Lionheart with civility but occasional condescension, and showed no concern when Lionheart was being strangled by Salem's Seer.
===[[Qrow Branwen]]=== Summary: As one of Ozpin's most trusted allies, Qrow was a primary target of Watts, who was extremely wary of the renowned Huntsman's strength and tenacity in combat.
===[[James Ironwood]]=== Summary: Watts had an antagonistic professional history with Ironwood, claiming the General had played a role in getting him disgraced. During the chaos in Mantle, Watts confronted Ironwood, claiming Ironwood never appreciated his genius. After being defeated, Ironwood forced Watts to work for him at gunpoint to re-secure Penny. Watts later tricked Ironwood and escaped. When Watts took control of the Atlas Command Center, he freed Ironwood, leading to Jacques Schnee's death.
==[[Schnee Manor]]== ===[[Jacques Schnee]]=== Summary: Watts made a dubious offer to Jacques Schnee to aid his Dust Company and help him win the election, but only considered Jacques a pawn to further his and Salem's goals. After they were both arrested, Jacques blamed Watts for their situation.
===[[Whitley Schnee]]=== Summary: Whitley was nervous and suspicious of Watts when the disgraced scientist visited the Schnee Manor.
==Others== ===[[Raven Branwen]]=== Summary: Watts was professional in front of Raven Branwen but pressured her into cooperating with Salem, disagreeing with her terms for luring Qrow into his death.
===[[Pietro Polendina]]=== Summary: Watts used to work with a team that included Pietro, but they had a strained relationship, with Watts hating Pietro for being chosen by Ironwood over him. Watts later helped Ironwood hack Penny, Pietro's creation, due to being threatened, and showed joy in harming Pietro's daughter.
===[[Penny Polendina]]=== Summary: Due to Penny being Pietro's creation, Watts had animosity towards her and considered her nothing more than a machine. Ironwood forced Watts to help him obtain control of Penny to access the Relic of Creation's vault. Watts successfully hacked into Penny's AI, compelling her to go to the vault, though this ended up short-circuiting her systems. Watts later ordered Penny to open the vault and self-terminate, having no further use for her.

Arthur Watts (Digital Copy)
Appearance: The digital copy of Arthur Watts initially had no physical body, but was later able to create one using Star Labs technology. This new body was an armored grey form with yellow highlights and a strong build. It had two additional arms behind the back and was equipped with two revolver guns. Watts' facial features remained the same, but he gave himself a beard.
Personality: This version of Arthur Watts was virtually identical to his original self, retaining all of his memories including the demise of his original body at the end of Volume 8. This experience seemed to have changed Watts, giving him a new resolve. He was no longer willing to be manipulated or obey others, instead taking his own stance with his own subordinates. Watts' lust for power was even greater than before, as he sought to remake the Earth in his own image. He showed little respect for the inhabitants of either the DC or Remnant worlds, manipulating Kilg%re and not even attempting to ally with other DC supervillains.
Watts was cautious in his invasion of Earth, strategically taking out Batman to prevent the Justice League from realizing his plans. He listened to Kilg%re's suggestions on creating Grimm that could counter the heroes, but was also more confident than his original self. Watts believed that Salem lacked vision, and he cut off any ties he had to Remnant. This arrogance ultimately led to his downfall, as he was tricked into revealing that he had manipulated Kilg%re, enraging the AI.
Powers and Abilities: As a digital copy, Watts retained all the memories and skills of his original self. After losing his original body, he used Star Labs technology with Kilg%re's aid to recreate a new, more powerful form for himself. This included two additional arms and revolver guns.
Watts possessed the same programming and hacking abilities as before, and had discovered a way to "revive" his artificial Grimm by transferring his consciousness to them. He was able to make the virtual Grimm and environment more stable with Kilg%re's help. Watts was also the first to realize they were trapped in a holo-trap created by Cyborg.
Watts' new prosthetic body gave him enhanced abilities compared to his original form. He was able to create artificial Grimm that were near-identical to the ones on Remnant, and could control and modify them to be more dangerous. However, the Grimm were still vulnerable to being hacked, as shown when Cyborg was able to make them disappear upon Watts and Kilg%re's imprisonment.
Despite his enhanced powers, Watts still had the same weaknesses as before - he was arrogant and overconfident, and lacked strong physical combat abilities, relying mostly on his summoned Grimm.

- Despite being created by the original Watts, the digital version sees himself as the original due to having the same memories and skills.
Salem's Inner Circle
- The digital Watts holds all the memories of the original, including his association with Salem and her group.
- However, unlike the original, this version has decided to cut ties with Salem and her Inner Circle, and instead travel to Earth to remake it in his own image.
Team RWBY
- In the main RWBY series, the original Watts never physically interacted with Team RWBY, only knowing they were a thorn to Cinder.
- However, it is revealed the original Watts had worked with Kilg%re and made a deal to get rid of Team RWBY during their stay in Atlas, though this plan ultimately failed.
- In Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen, Part Two, the digital Watts is surprised when the Justice League calls in Team RWBY, and cautiously takes a step back with his invasion, denying that he fears them.
- After creating a new body for himself, the digital Watts confidently confronts Team RWBY, stating he will kill them. However, he falls into their trap when he reveals his manipulation of Kilg%re, leading to their imprisonment.
Earth (DC)
Kilg%re
- During the events of RWBY Volume 7 and Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen, Part One, the original Watts secretly met Kilg%re when the latter accidentally got lost in Remnant's Cyber Safe.
- The two made a deal to eliminate both their foes, the Justice League and Team RWBY, with Watts manipulating Kilg%re into giving him the idea of utilizing Remnant's virtual world to trap their enemies.
- Unknown to Kilg%re, the original Watts had easily fooled him and trapped him in the same digital world, though he resumed his original goals in helping Salem.
- Before his death, the original Watts had stored an exact copy of his mind in Cyber Space, where Kilg%re later found the digital duplicate as a potential contingency.
- The digital Watts then manipulated Kilg%re once more, tricking him into thinking it was his own fault for being trapped in the digital world. The two then worked together to transport to Earth and conquer it, creating and modifying Grimm, with Watts ensuring he was in charge.
- However, the digital Watts' trickery is eventually revealed to Kilg%re, causing the AI to angrily possess him, leading to their imprisonment in Cyborg's holo-trap.
Justice League
- The original Watts had no direct interaction with the Justice League, beyond knowing that Kilg%re wanted to kill them.
- During Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes and Huntsmen, Part Two, the digital Watts and Kilg%re decide to unite and create a plan to take down the Justice League and any other opposition.
- They create their own Artificial Grimm with powers, and Kilg%re suggests giving them abilities to counter the Justice League while also taking out Batman to ensure the plan goes smoothly.
- Ultimately, the digital Watts is defeated by the Justice League and Team RWBY, and imprisoned in a holo-trap, along with Kilg%re, before they can escape and carry out their threat to kill them all.

Ascension
Summary:
Overview Ascension is a process that occurs in the Ever After and is linked to the Great Tree. It is similar to concepts such as resurrection and reincarnation, where an Afteran is no longer fulfilling their assigned role. This triggers the Ascension process, where the Afteran is taken to the Great Tree and repurposed into someone or something else with a new identity, personality, and role. Their memories are erased, but their hearts do not forget their defining moments.
Notable examples of Ascension include the Red King being reborn as the Red Prince, and the Herbalist undergoing Ascension after no longer properly fulfilling his duties.
The God of Light and God of Darkness were originally in charge of managing the Ascension process, but they created the Curious Cat and Jabberwalker to handle it instead. The Curious Cat can trigger Ascension in Afterans who are no longer performing their roles adequately, while the Jabberwalker can disrupt Ascensions by devouring Afterans.
Humans and other creatures from different worlds are unable to be properly ascended by the tree, leading to unpredictable results.
Process There are multiple ways the Ascension process can begin. Inhaling smoke from the Great Tree's leaves can cause hallucinations that tempt the being to change and accept Ascension. Drinking tea brewed with a leaf from the tree can also immediately trigger Ascension. The Curious Cat can also convince an Afteran to ascend by giving them "a piece of their heart."
Once someone accepts Ascension, they are brought to the Great Tree and encased in a wooden chrysalis. Inside, they meet with the Blacksmith, who guides them through the process of choosing a new identity and form. When the process is complete, the soul emerges from the chrysalis in their new form, retaining certain emotional aspects of their original self but with no memories.
For humans, the Ascension process can be an opportunity to rediscover who they truly are, allowing them to emerge in their original form with only slight alterations.
There may be a time limit for Ascension, as the Blacksmith claims that if a figure cannot decide what they should become, they may be forcibly ejected or become something else.
History Ascension is a core process deeply intertwined in the Ever After's culture and has likely existed as long as the realm itself. Examples include the Red King becoming the Red Prince after his Ascension, and the Herbalist ascending after being deemed unfit for his role.
The Curious Cat and Jabberwalker were created by the Gods to manage the Ascension process, with the Cat able to trigger Ascensions and the Jabberwalker able to disrupt them.
During the events of the story, Ruby Rose is nearly driven to despair by Neopolitan and forced to drink tea made from the Great Tree's leaves, triggering her own Ascension. However, Ruby ultimately emerges from the process as herself, with her appearance slightly altered but her core identity intact.
Trivia
- The Curious Cat is possibly the only being completely unable to go through Ascension, as they have a "broken heart" with no way to repair it.
- Non-Afterans can ascend in the Ever After, but if they die without accepting Ascension, they perish fully and do not ascend.
- The Gods have the ability to disrupt the Ascension process, as seen with their creation of the Curious Cat and Jabberwalker.

Atlas
Overview Atlas, formerly known as Mantle, was one of the Kingdoms of Remnant located in the far northern continent of Solitas. It was the youngest and most successful Kingdom, but also a special case. The Huntsman Academy of Atlas was known as Atlas Academy, and unlike most Kingdoms, Atlas' government, military and the Academy functioned as a single entity, making it a military state. It was also the location of the Schnee Dust Company headquarters.
The notable cities of the Kingdom were its capital, Atlas, and the former capital, Mantle. In "The Final Word", the Kingdom was destroyed when the city of Atlas fell and crashed into Mantle, causing them to be flooded under the melted glaciers. At least thousands of its population were transported to Vacuo beforehand, using the Relic of Creation to create a pathway.
History Early settlers came to the icy continent of Solitas to begin a new civilization. The harsh climates and great mountain ranges helped suppress the Grimm threat, but also made it difficult for the population to grow. Humanity adapted by using Dust and advanced technology, developing what became known as the Kingdom of Mantle. Their advancements in Dust application allowed Mantle to expand and devote more territory to mining and research.
Around 80 years before the series, the Great War, a massive 10-year conflict, came to an end. Mantle and Mistral fought against Vale and Vacuo. After an incident with the Grimm, Mantle concluded that controlling its citizens' emotions through the abolishment of the arts and self-expression would make it safer from Grimm. Mistral followed suit to an extent. This added to the list of things Vale disliked about Mantle and Mistral, including their treatment of citizens and use of slavery.
During the war, Mantle accelerated its technological innovation, developing new weapons and Dust applications. The Great War ended with the deadliest battle, where the King of Vale defeated Mantle and Mistral's attempt to take Vacuo's Dust mines. The leaders of the four Kingdoms then gathered on Vytal to form a treaty, restructure governments, redistribute territories, abolish slavery, begin the Vytal Festival tradition, and found the four Huntsman Academies.
Alsius was reopened as Atlas Academy and secretly given a Relic to safeguard. As a gift, Atlas invented the Cross Continental Transmit System. The decision was made to move the capital to Atlas, and the Kingdom was renamed accordingly. Around this time, Ozma used the Relic of Creation to raise Atlas off the ground.
The former capital of Mantle subsequently fell on hard times, with economic disparity between it and the city of Atlas. Decades prior, Atlesian researchers at Fort Arrowfell developed a device for attracting Grimm, but it proved too dangerous, so the project was canceled and the remains were assigned to a secret Huntress team.
Sometime before the series, James Ironwood became the general of the Atlas Military and the Headmaster of Atlas Academy, gaining two council seats. He also joined Ozpin's Group and learned of Salem's existence. At some point, Ironwood asked his scientists to create a way to improve the Kingdom's defenses, leading to the creation of Penny Polendina.
During the 40th Vytal Festival, the live broadcast and Atlas' robots were hijacked, making it appear as though Atlas attacked Vale. This led to an embargo on Dust exports from Atlas to prevent further conflict. The embargo continued into Volumes 4-7, causing hardship in Mantle.
Throughout Volume 7, the effects of the embargo can be seen, with Mantle becoming resentful towards Atlas. Jacques Schnee shut down non-essential SDC facilities in Mantle, causing riots. Robyn Hill almost convinced Ironwood to trust her, but Watts used Jacques' credentials to shut off Mantle's heat, causing another riot. Ironwood later revealed Salem's existence to the Kingdom and decided to raise Atlas into the sky, putting out arrest warrants for Ruby's group for opposing this.
In the Battle of Atlas, Ironwood killed Councilman Sleet, Watts hacked Penny, and Cinder obtained both Relics. In the end, Atlas crashed into Mantle, flooding both cities. Thousands of the population were evacuated to Vacuo using the Relic of Creation.
Culture Atlas was known for being the youngest Kingdom, but the former capital of Mantle was neglected for years, leading to its ruined state. Practices like slavery were allowed before the Great War, and the arts were suppressed to avoid Grimm attacks, a policy Mistral also followed. There were class differences, with the Schnee family living in luxury while Mantle struggled. The Schnee Dust Company was known for mistreating Faunus workers.
The Kingdom's nightlife in Atlas consisted of opera houses, clubs, and fine dining, attracting mobsters and goons. Settlements around Solitas worked together, with Dormir providing food to other towns. The Tumak Ruins held important cultural relics, but many had been taken by historians.
Technology Atlas was known for its innovation and technological achievements, including developing the Cross Continental Transmit System and making great strides in robotics. They produced combat robots like the Atlesian Knight-130 and created Penny Polendina, the first artificial being capable of producing Aura. Their research also yielded experimental Aura-capturing technology.
Atlas used Gravity Dust to keep itself floating, though the public story was that it was due to the Relic of Creation hidden beneath the Academy. Over time, Atlas' technology developed a blue and white color scheme.
Politics Atlas was governed by a council of five seats, with Ironwood holding two. At least some council positions were filled through elections, as seen with the contest between Jacques Schnee and Robyn Hill. The council provided checks on Ironwood's power, but he was able to withhold certain information from them. Ironwood later declared martial law, claiming it would allow him to place Atlas into orbit to protect it from Salem's attack.
Military The Atlesian military was regarded as the world's strongest armed forces, made up of human soldiers and androids. They were headquartered at Atlas Academy. During the series, the military was destroyed alongside the Kingdom.
Notable People Key figures included Ironwood, the Schnee family, Penny Polendina, Robyn Hill, Arthur Watts, and members of the Atlas Council and Academy.
