- #1Setting
Keys: vampires, Shin-Yokohama, animals, familiars, humans
The series takes place in Shin-Yokohama where vampires are very real. There are inferior vampires, which are basically animals, and vampire lords, who have human-like physiques and intelligence. All vampire lords have basic vampire abilities and weaknesses, but some of them have special abilities that set them apart from the rest of their kind. They can also find regular animals to make into their immortal familiars.
Some vampires choose to live in peace with humans while others choose to be menaces instead. Thus, some humans take up the role as vampire hunters to keep the hostile vampires in check.
- #2Plot
Keys: Ronaldo, John, Draluc
The story follows the famed vampire hunter, Ronaldo, who receives a job to destroy the supposedly invincible vampire lord Draluc and rescue a human boy he allegedly kidnapped. Upon meeting him in his mansion, however, he quickly realizes that he is only called "invincible" because of his unique ability to revive almost instantly after being reduced to ashes, which is convenient since almost anything can kill him due to him being incredibly weak. The boy who was believed to be a hostage just sneaks into the castle regularly to play Draluc's huge collection of video games. Chaos ensues and Draluc's castle ends up completely destroyed as a result.
Homeless, Draluc then moves into Ronaldo's apartment for the time being, much to Ronaldo's chagrin. He also brings along his familiar, a cute armadillo named John, who Ronaldo becomes fond of. After helping Ronaldo in a case, the two become unofficial partners, often clashing with other vampires and hunters alike.
- #3Shin-Yokohama
Keys: Shin-Yokohama
Shin-Yokohama (新横浜, Shinyokohama) is a small district in Kōhoku-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan.
- #4Draluc
Keys: Draluc
Draluc (ドラルク, Doraruku) is one of the protagonists of The Vampire Dies in No Time and its anime adaptation. He is an immortal higher vampire from the prestigious Dragon Clan who keeps dying and turning to dust from all kinds of small things. As his castle was destroyed, he moved in with Ronaldo, much to the other's dismay.
Draluc is a typical-looking adult vampire with a lanky build, pale complexion, slicked-back short black hair styled into spikes, large eyes with dark circles beneath them, sunken-in cheeks, pointy ears, a sharp nose, and nails that are painted red. The spike-y hair "horns" run in his direct family and are also shared by Draus, his father, as well as his grandfather.
He sports a typical vampire outfit, featuring a black tuxedo accented with purple lapels and gold details, a white button-up shirt with a two-layer jabot tied at the collar, a grey waistcoat, slim black dress pants, white formal gloves, black dress shoes, and a long, tattered black cape with a high collar and purple lining—an accessory commonly worn by his family and relatives as well.
As a vampire from a prestigious clan, Draluc is high and prideful. He has a habit of speaking down on humans because of his upbringing with his mentor, and like any old traditional vampires of his time. He also has a bad habit of being opportunistic, ditching his allies often to save his own skin.
However, he also has a kind nature. He doesn't attack out of malice nor suck blood from humans without their consent. Whenever the mischief he causes is too much or going over a line, Draluc actively recognizes his wrongs and apologizes to an extent. He will also save his allies from pinches, even when he has dumped them prior.
Draluc has been regarded as a "hedonist" by a lot of people due to his willingness to get involved in anything that is remotely interesting even if it involved him getting hurt in the end. Not to mention, hedonism is a common trait among higher vampires. A contributing factor to him being a lazy hedonist is his father Draus, who spoilt him rotten because of his frail body and his status as the only son, which has resulted in him believing that he could be forgiven and beloved so easily and thus becoming the slob he is today.
Despite having a weak physique, he is actually smart, clever enough to deduce that Hiyoshi being bitten by a sexy vampire was the reason he quit the vampire hunter career.
Abilities:
Regeneration: Draluc's most prominent ability. No matter how many times he gets destroyed, he can always quickly regenerate himself from his own ashes. This is incredibly convenient for him considering that he is so weak that almost anything, including petty insults, can easily destroy him. He can even remain conscious as well as speak while still a pile of ashes. However, it is implied that if his ashes are left out in the sun for too long, or if his ashes get interfered by external forces, it could kill him for good.
Transformation: Like any vampire, Draluc can transform himself into a bat. However, his transformations always turns out wrong, and the only way he can change back is to turn to dust and regenerate back into his original form. But, sometimes his transformation does turn out good although still a bit bad. One of those times is when he transformed into a bat and then a "crab" apparently.
Gaming: He is an all-around gamer, who can play anything and guarantee victory at the games he touches. Draluc boasts that his skills are on a professional-level. He's recognized to an extent that Fukuma from Autumn Shoten asked him to review a shitty game that he became fond of over time. Since then, Draluc became an enthusiast in playing trash games and giving his reviews.
Cooking: Draluc cooks for Ronaldo and makes whatever the other requests, due to vampires normally luring their victims into their homes with a good meal. He's also a skilled baker and Hinaichi is deeply fond of his sweets.
Housework: Due to his long isolation in his castle with John, Draluc has gotten used to doing house chores on his own, continuing to do so even when he moved in with Ronald, becoming the office/apartment's caretaker. It is more of a hobby for him than anything.
Resistance to hypnosis: Aside from Northdin, his mentor, and a skilled play of a tambourine, Draluc is mostly resistant to any hypnosis as shown when Bosatsu was surprised that he cannot control Draluc with hypnosis even after biting him.
He is 208 years old.
Likes: milk, tomato juice, blood orange ice cream
Favorite blood type: B
In contrast from Ronaldo, Draluc only wears black underwear.
He is a horrible singer. He is also bad at anything artistic in general.
He along with his own father and grandfather are the only pure blooded members of his clan; the rest of his clan, such as Gorgona, are human-turned-vampires who have accepted offered blood from Grandfather.
His mother Mira is an Old Blood vampire but she is moreso married into the clan and her origins aren't explained.
He hates garlic.
He is right-handed.
His middle name is "W."
He claimed that his IQ is 250.
He resents Northdin and is very impudent towards Northdin as a result, as Northdin is one of the very few who can see through his tricks to slack off.
He once matchmade with his cousin Sedema, however, nothing came out of it. This was mainly caused by Draluc being petrified by her during a personality disagreement they had, even though they have always been a close quarrelsome pair.
Draluc wakes up at 6:00 p.m. every day.
Draluc often dies in the sink.
The oven from the agency is mini-sized and therefore unsatisfactory for Draluc.
Draluc basically doesn't eat food.
Draluc and John often play hide-and-seek, bowling, TRPG, spiritism, giant constructor, treasure hunting, creative cooking, and so on.
Draluc has many suits that are custom-made.
Nowadays, familiars are usually contracted to be equal, and a master can unilaterally terminate their relationship with a familiar, but Draluc and John have a contract that doesn't allow this.
Draluc likes to sew.
- #5Ronaldo
Keys: Ronaldo
Ronaldo (ロナルド, Ronarudo) is one of the protagonists of The Vampire Dies in No Time and its anime adaptation. He is a famous vampire hunter (part time Spanish inquisitor hence the costume) located in Shin-Yokohama who goes after the powerful Draluc one day, but ends up realizing he is really weak. As they accidentally destroy Draluc's castle, the vampire and his armadillo familiar John decided to move in to live with Ronaldo in his apartment/office and eventually formed the odd vampire-vampire hunter duo. He writes his adventures in an autobiography series called The Ronaldo War Chronicles published by Autumn Publishing under Fukuma.
He was taught and trained by Vamone to be a vampire hunter. He often hangs out with fellow vampire hunters Satetsu and Shot. He also has several run-ins with his former high school classmates Tou Handa and Kameya.
"Ronaldo" is his nickname in high school that stuck. According to the author, Bonnoki Itaru, volume 20 account jack on twitter, Handa insisted calling him "Ronaldo" after a teacher made a mistake while reading how Ronaldo wrote his own name two seconds before passing an exam paper. His real name is Hideo Kinoshita (木下 日出男, Kinoshita Hideo).
Ronaldo is a handsome young man with white-silver hair, blue eyes and a fit build of muscle from his line of work.
Outfits:
In all outfits, Ronaldo adorns a yellow triangular earring on his left ear, matching with his older brother who wears it on both ears and younger sister who wears one on her right ear.
During work hours, he wears a black, long sleeved shirt, black gloves, black boots, white pants, red jacket with a shawl, and red hat in reminiscence of his older brother's outfit back when he was still a vampire hunter. Similarly, his weapon of choice is a revolver-type pistol hidden under his jacket.
On the beach, he forgoes the shawl and keeps the jacket on his shoulders like a cape and wears a short sleeved black shirt instead of the usual long sleeved one.
Ronaldo is an extremely rough, short-tempered, foul-mouthed and stubborn man who frequently loses his temper with Draluc, making the vampire die multiple times even in the span of a few hours. On the other hand, he becomes a doting parent when it comes to John in spoiling him and making sure he stays safe.
He is professional when it comes to his main work and never skips regardless of the client that he gets, he gives his all to accomplish the job properly. But much like with everyone else, he's verbally rough with his clients. Regardless, he treats everyone in Autumn Publishing and his fans with utmost respect without missing a beat.
In contrast to Draluc, Ronaldo's not good at house chores and is terrible at games in general. However, he is good at shooting games given that it is his specialty.
In contrast to his physical strength, ability to do amazing feats, and being skilled in literature, Ronaldo is very emotional and a crybaby as he dislikes being left behind and will instantly feel hurt if he feels intentionally isolated or bullied by people he considers as his friends. He also cries at anything that moves his heart no matter how trivial it can be.
Ronaldo sometimes has self-depreciating moments where he reveals his lack of self-confidence on his skills as a writer due to lack of materials to work from or during a moment of writer's block. Writing or not, when the low points hit, he's prone to calling himself a "maggot" with few creative companies to express his own disappointment in himself. This appears to have grown since his teen years when he believed that his older brother Hiyoshi quit as a vampire hunter after an injury from a vampire bite on his shoulder.
He hates celery to an extent of screaming and crying at a mere sight of it, and as well as losing his common sense the longer he's expose to its presence.
When beamed by Ydan Ojisan to reveal a lewd talk, it is revealed that Ronaldo is a boobs kind of guy with a preference on the bigger variety. On his own voluntary lewd talk, he has a preference of anything homemade.
When it comes to his siblings, he can be loving but in a very obsessive manner; he crazily idolizes his older brother Hiyoshi as he strives to reach Hiyoshi's level, and is very overprotective towards his younger sister Himari.
Abilities:
Exceptional physical strength, endurance and agility, along with good flexibility
Proficient shooting skills

A great writer who’s able to convey intriguing stories
Relationships:
Hunter's Guild:
Ronaldo shows immense respect for his fellow hunters and guild master Gousetsu.
He is close friends with Shot and Satetsu.
Ronaldo's Agency:
Ronaldo wasn't too keen on Draluc moving into his apartment. In fact, he finds him very annoying and will constantly punch him or a number of things that kills Draluc in one hit. On the other hand, Ronaldo gained a soft spot for John instantly, saying that he'll take care of the armadillo but kicking Draluc out. Despite the frequent banter between the two men, they have a bit of mutual trust and never miss a beat to insult each other to the point it's a daily routine. Ronaldo also enjoys Draluc's meals and finds it strange when the vampire is not around. It is implied he does consider Draluc his friend, but mostly he denies such sentiments with his actions.
Conversely, Ronaldo dotes on John, and always scolds Draluc who seems to trust more in John's capabilities by letting John expose to potentially bad influences.
Vampire Countermeasure Division:
Ronaldo is friends with Hinaichi the vice captain.
Tou Handa is Ronaldo's self proclaimed rival and former high school classmate, who always torments him with celery related tricks and pranks.
His older brother Hiyoshi is the VCD captain. Ronaldo has an obsessive admiration for Hiyoshi and thinks Hiyoshi can commit no wrong, being completely unaware of Hiyoshi's flaws.
Others:
Kameya is Ronaldo's former high school classmate who tends to be taken advantage by Kameya a lot as news material.

His own fists (most often)
Fly swatter
Two types of guns:
Revolver gun (for coolness)
Automatic gun (for practical use)
Spray (for using against lower vampires)
Ronaldo can't throw things away (which means he can't throw away Draluc’s stuff, too).
Ronaldo doesn't use any killing repellents for vampires nowadays.

- #6John
Keys: John
John (ジョン, Jon), also rarely known by his full name "John O Guardian" (ジョン・O・ガーディアン, Jon O Gādian), is one of the protagonists of The Vampire Dies in No Time and its anime adaptation. He is a male armadillo and a familiar of Draluc. He understands human language, but is unable to speak it. As only Draluc can understand him, John uses gestures and signs to communicate with others, in addition to his trademark language only composed of the syllabic sounds and vocally similar variants of "nyu" (ニュー, Nyū) when he is young and "nu" (ヌー, Nū) when he reached adulthood.
John is a 3-banded armadillo that is about the same size as a soccer ball. He has white fluffy fur in his front and orange super-protective armor at the back that he can curl into a ball to protect himself or to launch himself to hit others.
Because of his cute appearance, he is instantaneously popular and has been treated as a mascot. He is extremely loved to an extent that when Draluc and Ronaldo misunderstood his situation and believed that he got kidnapped, everyone in Shin-Yokohama instantly volunteered and joined forces to search for him.
John is kind-hearted and fiercely loyal to his friends. He's always worried about his owner, and will become upset and even run away from home if Draluc ignores him. He also has a sweet tooth. John is the best boy.
When he was a baby, John was separated from his family due to a vampire mosquito. Grandfather found him when he was injured, and gave him to Draluc, who began looking after him. Then one day, John, who was on his way to find some ingredients for Draluc, found some other armadillos that were attacked by another vampire mosquito, so he tried saving them. He almost faltered until Draluc temporarily died against the vampire mosquito, prompting John the courage to trounce the vampire mosquito. He was heralded as a hero among the armadillos, so Draluc decided that it was best to leave John behind with his own kind.
The following day, the other armadillos told John that Draluc and the rest of the vampires had departed from the villa, which saddened John. John decided to search for the castle in Romania by using the photo of the castle as a guide. On his way, John was helped by lots of people, but could not find the castle. Just when he was about the give up, John realized that Draluc might be living nearby when he heard some people, who got the photo, discussing about rumors about vampires.
On his way to find the castle, John finally saw Draluc, who was attacked by an ostrich vampire. John risked himself to rescue Draluc, defeating the ostrich vampire. Draluc finally realized John being with him had always been the better decision, and let John become his familiar by drinking his blood.
Some time after John returned to Draluc, Draluc and Draus visited the Hill of Armadillos with John, where they found John’s parents, whom Draluc promised to look after John. Since then, both John and Draluc still maintain a strong bond with the armadillos of that hill in South America.
Abilities:
John has gained immortality after officially becoming Draluc's familiar.
Trivia:
John's real name is "John O Guardian" (ジョン・O・ガーディアン, Jon O Gādian). Originally, as placeholder, John was given the name "Jokerball-Tamao-Marusuke-OrichalcumZ-Guardian" (ジョーカーボールたまおマルスケオリハルコンZガーディアン). The name John was created by taking the first two and last characters from that name. His placeholder name a combination of the names that Draluc's relatives tried to give John; "Marusuke" (丸助) by Draus; "Orichalcum Z" (オリハルコンZ)" by The Progenitor; "Tamao" (玉夫) by one of Draluc's cousins; Jokerball" (ジョーカーボール) by another one of Draluc's cousins; and "Guardian" (ガーディアン) by Gorgona.
John's birthday, July 1, is the date that he first met Draluc.
John's favorite food are pancakes and fried chicken.
John dislikes whole Chinese cabbage ("It's scary" according to him; Back in chapter 13, it was a vampirized Chinese cabbage who sucked his blood and boosted the power of the vegetable vampires).
A running gag involves Draluc using John as "John Guard" (living shield) or a ball to protect himself from dangers, resulting in John getting hurt or affected.
John is the only armadillo that can score 4:6 in a video game with Draluc.
John is 180 years old.
John has a habit of chewing on fluttery clothings since he was younger, presumably reacting to the smells of food.
Draluc and John often play hide-and-seek, bowling, TRPG, spiritism, giant constructor, treasure hunt, creative cooking, and so on.
Nowadays, familiars are usually contracted to be equal, and a master can unilaterally terminate their relationship with a familiar, but Draluc and John have a contract that doesn't allow this.
Draluc uses moisturizing cream for John's shell.
John is even more pampered now than when he used to live in the castle with Draluc alone.

She is mostly seen wearing the female uniform of the Vampire Countermeasure Division.
Hinaichi is a serious girl who is credited for being a top-notch investigator and fighter who has the brightest future within the division. However, she also has a tendency to make assumptions that is prone to self-sabotage.
She loves all sweets made by Draluc, especially the homemade cookies that whenever such sweets are left alone, she immediately devours it. As Draluc noticed this and personally gives Hinaichi some food to eat whenever he can, her treatment of Draluc has been more decent and caring in comparison to Ronaldo's.
Ydan Ojisan's Y-beam has not completely wore off from her. The effects still lingers what she would say "Wee-wee" when crying in distress, panic, strongly upset, etc. Fortunately, because of this, she's not easily hypnotized by other vampires and have chances to negate the hypnosis done by others if they succeeded. Although, she had tried to reverse the effect with the help of Draus. Making her say "weekend roast" as an alternative temporarily.

Kazusa likes to steal Hinaichi's food ever since when both were young. (Chapter 315)
Hinaichi's ahoge can move according to her emotions.
