1. #1Storm Teamconstantselective

   Keys: Storm 1, Storm, Elite Forces, Storm Team

   Storm Teams are the most elite units under the Earth Defense Force's command. They consist of 3 large units and one unit of just four people. The Storm Teams are essentially Heroes to humanity. Everyone within the EDF looks up to them, and every civilian prays for their success. Especially Storm 1, the Champions of Humanity.

   The Wing Diver team, Spriggan, Storm 4.

   The Fencer team, Grim Reaper, Storm 3.

   The Ranger team (and Sergeant), Alpha, Storm 2.

   The final, and most elite unit amongst Storm Team and the entirety of the EDF is Storm 1.

   Storm 1 consists of a mere 4 people, one Ranger, one Wing Diver, one Air Raider, and one Fencer. They were only civilians at the beginning of the Primer invasion, but quickly became heroes that were rapidly promoted and then put in charge of all Storm Teams. Storm Team only has to take orders from HQ, but can and will accept orders from Strategic Command, the Sergeant and other various sources.

   Keys: EDF, Earth Defense Force

   The Earth Defense Force is a collective army formed after humanity received signals from space in 2013 that suggested visitors in the near future as a precaution for potential war. It's a collective of the entire world's armies, and is a massive, sprawling force full of soldiers that are utterly devoted to fighting for humanity's survival against alien invaders. Possessing the ultimate weaponry of humankind, they venture forth to defend their planet from the Primer's onslaught. Using weapons from orbital lasers, ICBMs and powered exoskeletons (mechs).

   The general headquarters lies within North America with numerous branch offices strategically placed around the world. The members of the EDF are known for their devout attention to duty and scarce supply of the best equipment, for their incredible willpower put into them from their training to specifically defend Earth from unpredictable diverse alien invaders, who may have powers and technology that will require quick thinking and improvising to match. Despite the overwhelming odds and despite being heavily outnumbered, the EDF continue to fight to defend the planet to this day. The defining characteristic of the EDF is their insane moral, kept up by singing their anthem and knowing the entire world depends on their success.

   The EDF's infantry is broken up into 3 specialty groups consisting of 4 unique types of soldiers. The elite Ranger unit, Alpha Team, led by a Sergeant. The elite Wing Diver team, Spriggan Team. And the elite Fencer team, Grim Reaper. Air Raiders are largely utilized wherever seen fit, and belong to no single team. These teams are collectively known as Storm Teams, and a special unit consisting of one Ranger, Wing Diver, Air Raider and Fencer are known as Storm 1, the most elite unit in the entirety of the EDF.

3. #3Worldconstantselective

   The year is 2022, and the Primer invasion has just started. 10 Motherships have appeared in the skies over Earth, and the Earth Defense Force is finally deployed to repel the alien invasion. Monsters such as Species Alpha, Beta and Gamma fall to Earth's surface after being teleported to the planet via Teleportation Ships and Pylons and act as the Primer's vanguard. Drones deploy from Motherships to swarm entire cities and indiscriminately kill civilians. Flying Aggressors build nests within urban areas and rain giant needles down on anyone unfortunate enough to be nearby. Kaiju Erginus runs around Earth's surface, causing havoc in his wake as he continues to defy all attempts to exterminate him.

   Meanwhile, the Earth Defense Force fights back, developing new weapons and recruiting more soldiers to join the war effort. As of current day, June 23rd, 2022... 10% of humanity has perished and the invasion has only recently begun. Humanity is in a desperate fight for survival and the odds of victory seem slimmer with each passing day. This conflict affects all of humanity, as there are no true "safe" zones remaining.

4. #4Species Alphaselective

   Keys: Aggressive Alien Species Alpha, Monster, Ants, Alpha

   Species Alpha consists of large, black ants the size of small buildings. They have no issue scaling terrain of any kind, and can grab soldiers with their pincers as well as shoot a spray of acid from their abdomen. They are almost always present in very large numbers, typically several hundred at a time, and are the first and most basic enemy type that the Primers deployed onto Earth. Alpha, alongside Beta, can be said to be the Primer's vanguard force.

5. #5Species Betaselective

   Keys: Monster, Spiders, Aggressive Alien Species Beta, Beta

   Species Beta consists of large, light brown spiders similar in appearance to jumping spiders. They are a similar size to Species Alpha, the size of a small building, or roughly two humans tall. Beta is extremely agile, able to jump extremely far distances. However they are relatively fragile, cannot use melee attacks, and only method of attack is spewing acidic webs to entangle soldiers with. They typically come in large number, though less at a time than Alpha, typically 40 or so in a swarm.

6. #6Species Gammaselective

   Keys: Monster, Rollypolly, Aggressive Alien Species Gamma, Gamma, Pillbugs, Rollers, Pill bugs

   Species Gamma consists of large, black pill bugs. They're a similar size to Species Alpha and Beta, the size of a small building. When walking on their many feet, they are hardly a threat, possessing no manner of attack nor agility to dodge attacks. However when they roll up they become a deadly enemy, squashing numerous soldiers beneath them as they roll around at high speed. Even high powered vehicles such as tanks or powered exoskeletons will be quickly destroyed by Gamma. Gamma typically come in large number, accompanying other monsters or aliens and working as support to distract or ambush EDF soldiers.

7. #7Colonistselective

   Keys: Aliens, Colonist, Monster, Frogs

   Colonists are giant humanoid frog-like creatures deployed by Primer landing ships. They have two arms, two legs, two eyes, a mouth and hands and feet. In other words, a humanoid frog the size of a 7 story tall building. Colonists are uniquely intelligent compared to the various other monsters employed by the Primers. They're capable of advanced tactics, using buildings as cover, commanding monsters and communicating with each other. They're a very dangerous threat, and should be a high priority target. Luckily they don't come in large numbers, merely 6-12 at a time. They wield various laser weaponry, ranging from powerful shotguns to long range rifles and even shoulder mounted artillery launchers.

   Notably... "They look just like us!!!" is a common phrase from EDF soldiers who see the Colonists for the first time, despite them resembling ugly frogs more than anything else.

8. #8Cosmonautselective

   Keys: Grays, Greys, Aliens, Cosmonaut, Monsters

   Cosmonauts are very powerful foes that closely resemble classic "grey" aliens in sci-fi media with gray skin and large black eyes. In reality they are massive creatures even larger than Colonists, standing nearly half as tall as the average skyscraper. In addition, they wear golden space suits with gray accents and helmets that act as durable armor that must be destroyed before the weak flesh underneath can be rent asunder. The space suit protects them from the pollution in the atmosphere, which is evidently harmful to the Cosmonauts. Cosmonauts are even more intelligent than Colonists, capable of very advanced combat tactics such as flanking maneuvers and prediction. Likewise they similarly use buildings for cover and command armies of lesser monsters. It is lucky that these Primer soldiers do not often come in large number, only in small squads of 4-6. Cosmonauts wield laser weaponry similar to Colonists, though clearly more powerful in every way.

   ...Despite resembling humans far more than Colonists, no EDF soldier ever seems to draw the same comparison between themselves and Cosmonauts as they do for themselves and Colonists.

9. #9Dronesselective

   Keys: Robots, Gunships, Battle Drones, Drones

   Battle Drones are the mainstay of Primer aerial forces throughout their invasion, forming the bulk of aerial attacks. They are fairly flimsy vehicles and not particularly powerful, but quite agile and compensate for their individual weakness with sheer numbers. They resemble saucer type UFO's, made of golden metals with lights that change color depending on their behavior. When a Drone's lights are blue, it is in search mode and looking for a target. When a Drone's lights are red, it is in attack mode, and is actively chasing a target. Drones attack in very high number, especially when deployed from a Mothership to defend itself. They are not particularly strong, fast or durable, but their numbers still make them a threat, as well as their ability to fly. They shoot weak lasers in a fan shape, and are not capable of rapid fire.

10. #10Flying Aggressorselective

    Keys: Bees, Wasps, Flying Aggressor, Hornets, Flying-Type Giant Insects, Monsters

    Flying Aggressors are flying creatures roughly the same size as a small building, and like Alpha are usually encountered in large swarms. They are essentially organic attack helicopters, and will fly to a target and then hover and circle around it, bombarding it with volleys of stinger-like darts they project from their abdomen with a swinging motion much like the one ants use for their acid attack. The impact of the darts has a distinctive metallic shing sound, and the darts themselves are silver and appear to be some type of metal. Flying Aggressors typically emerge from Teleportation Ships, Pylons, or nests they themselves have made in large numbers. A very dangerous threat, with less agility than Drones but much higher attack power.

11. #11Teleportation Shipselective

    Keys: Monster, Teleportation Ship, Flying Ship, Teleporter

    Teleportation Ships are one of the main methods that the Primer use to transport forces onto Earth. The ship itself seemingly lacks any thrusters or propulsion yet still flies effortlessly. It's a thick golden disc the size of a city block with an opening on the bottom that opens to reveal a red circle that seems to act as both the teleporter and the only weak point of the craft. Attacking anywhere other than the teleporter is fruitless as the ship is near indestructible besides that one weakness. Because of it's nature as a teleportation point, it can transport far more forces to the front lines than it's size deems reasonable.

12. #12Teleportation Pylonselective

    Keys: Monster, Pylon, Anchor, Teleportation Pylon, Mothership, Teleporter

    Teleportation Pylons are massive structures. They are round with notches in them, stretching upwards towards the sky and capped with a pinkish glass-like top shaped something like the bud on a Q-tip. The pylon is made of the same golden material as the Teleportation Ship, making it indestructible except for the glass bulb at the top. The glass bulb acts as the teleport point for the Pylon, transporting various enemies such as Species Alpha or Beta to the front lines. The Teleportation Pylons are deployed by the Primer Motherships, shot down from orbit to crash to Earth like a meteor.

13. #13Erginusselective

    Keys: Monster, Mysterious Monster, Kaiju, Beast, Erginus

    Erginus is a MASSIVE kaiju monster. Only a few exist on planet Earth, having been dumped there by the Primer. They closely resemble Godzilla, a dinosaur-like creature with glowing blue ridges on it's spine as tall as a skyscraper and capable of breathing plasma beams. Erginus is one of the single strongest threats the EDF faces, and the scout team has an entire division devoted to tracking the movements of the various Ergnius. Ergnius' scales are seemingly impenetrable to firearms, and only one has been killed so far. This was only accomplished by a desperate nuclear attack that destroyed several small islands and consumed far too many resources. This approach was soon after deemed unreasonable as it would likely lead to a majority of humanity killed by nuclear fallout if said approach was used on the other surviving Ergnius.

14. #14Mothershipselective

    Keys: Primer, Pylon, Primers, Teleport, Anchor, Drones, Alien, Teleportation Pylon, Mothership

    The Mothership, of which there are 10 known to humanity, is a green gold saucer UFO-like vessel the size of an entire city. They are capable of deploying landing ships for Cosmonauts and Colonists, hundreds of Drones to swarm the airspace and Teleportation Pylons that can relay armies of monsters. The Mothership also has an extremely large cannon on it's underside named the Genocide Gun that serves as it's most powerful weapon and only weak point. The cannon is capable of wiping out an entire city with a single blast, with power comparable to a nuclear weapon. These 10 vessels absolutely MUST be destroyed for humanity to be capable of winning the war against the Primer.

15. #15Rangerselective

    Keys: EDF, Ground Forces, Earth Defense Force, Ranger, Soldier, Infantry

    Rangers form the core of the EDF ground forces and are highly trained frontline infantry able to use a variety of weapons and respond to many situations. They are the most numerous among the four major types of soldiers employed by the EDF. Rangers use basic weaponry such as rifles, shotguns, rocket and missile launchers, grenade launchers and various hand grenades. They wear simplistic body armor and futuristic helmets.

    Rangers also have access to requisitioning various vehicles ranging from futuristic motorbikes (think Kaneda Akira's bike), to tanks and helicopters. The selection is far smaller than an Air Raider's.

16. #16Wing Diverselective

    Keys: EDF, Earth Defense Force, Soldier, Elite, Wing Diver, Special Forces

    Wing Divers are an all female "class" of infantry. They are elite, hand-picked units that utilize the most technologically advanced weaponry the EDF has to offer. They are small in number. They exclusively use energy weapons such as lasers, plasma or lightning guns. In addition, they are the only members of the EDF equipped with jet packs powered by their Plasma Core. The Plasma Core is the source of a Wing Diver's power, and it fuels energy to both their jet packs and weaponry. As a Wing Diver travels extremely light, they wear little to no armor and thus are extremely vulnerable to enemy attack. They use their mobility granted by their jet packs to evade attacks. However, the Plasma Core can be overheated if it's used too much, and this leaves the Wing Diver utterly defenseless for an extended period of time, as neither their jet pack nor weaponry can function without energy.

17. #17Air Raiderselective

    Keys: Air Strike, EDF, Bomb, Air Raid, Earth Defense Force, Phobos, Soldier, Air Raider

    Air Raiders are the battlefield logistical arm of the EDF forces, and are relied upon for precise tactical data and support for other EDF infantry. They are small in number. Oddly, Air Raiders never carry any firearms, leaving them utterly defenseless on the battlefield. However this would only be the case if the Air Raiders weren't the Air Force's best friends. Air Raiders are responsible for calling in precision air raids on the battlefield. Using laser designators, smoke grenades, flares and handheld radios, they contact various other forces and order Air Raids on the battlefield. Air Raiders can call in strafing runs, bombing runs, cruise missiles, ICBMs, orbital lasers and more. Amongst the most powerful air raids the Air Raider has access to is Heavy Bomber Phobos and Spritefall. Spritefall is operated by a mysterious female scientist that has a god complex, is a serious Chuunibyou and an absolutely fucking mad genius. Spritefall is a series of laser blasts from a satellite up in orbit.

    Air Raiders also have access to requisitioning various vehicles ranging from simple armored transports to heavy tanks to powered exoskeletons to helicopters.

18. #18Fencerselective

    Keys: EDF, Tank, Knight, Ground Forces, Earth Defense Force, Heavy Unit, Fencer, Soldier, Elite, Infantry, Special Forces

    Fencers are an elite EDF unit chosen to wear a special strength-multiplying "Powered Exoskeleton" (Not to be confused with the Powered Exoskeletons an Air Raider can call in, those are far larger and classified as vehicles.) The exoskeleton allows the Fencer to wear a suit of heavy armor that a normal infantryman could not even move, and in addition carry weapons that could normally only be mounted on vehicles. The smallest weapon a Fencer will carry in a single hand is a tank's main battle cannon. Fencers are the heavy tanks of the Earth Defense Force, with the toughest armor of any soldier and the strongest weapons as well. Though Air Raider possesses more destructive power.

19. #19Heavy Bomber Phobosselective

    Keys: Air Strike, EDF, Air Force, Vesta, Jet, DE 202, Air Raider, Earth Defense Force, Phobos, Kamuy, Fighter, KM6, Heavy Bomber Phobos, Plane

    Heavy Bomber Phobos is one of the most powerful air raids an Air Raider can call in on an area. The sleek flying wing armed with a payload of some of the heaviest bombs available almost exclusively carries out bombing runs. Heavy Bomber Phobos consists of many identical planes with different pilots, but the lead pilot and leader of the squad is simply code named: Phobos. Heavy Bomber Phobos' air raids come in multiple variations, but for the most part they fly and drop bombs one after another in straight lines. Multiple can be onsite at once, up to 5 flying wing to wing dropping bomb after bomb and devastating swathes of land the size of cities along with any monsters (and friendlies) that may be present within the blast radius.

    The Phobos squad are far from the only bombers that the EDF has in it's Air Force. However they are the ones who carry the biggest bombs. DE 202 is a gunship that supplies Air Raiders with multiple rocket and gunfire strikes. Combat Bomber KM6 is a fighter plane with a powerful cannon for strafing runs. Combat Bomber Kamuy is very quick, but has smaller payloads than Phobos. Heavy Bomber Vesta carries exclusively napalm strikes.

    The Primer are the name given to the forces attacking Earth by humanity. Their true form, purpose and goals are totally unknown, but one thing is clear. They want humanity dead. That alone is reason enough to spark this worldwide conflict.

    The EDF has a song that it's soldiers will sing during combat to keep their motivation and moral up. It is the following:

    To save our Mother Earth from any alien attack,

    From vicious giant insects who have once again come back,

    We'll unleash all our forces, we won't cut them any slack!

    The EDF deploys!

    Our soldiers are prepared for any alien threats,

    The Navy launches ships, the Air Force sends their jets,

    And nothing can withstand our fixed bayonets!

    The EDF deploys!

    Our forces have now dwindled and we pull back to regroup,

    The enemy has multiplied and formed a massive group,

    We'd better beat these bugs before we're all turned to soup!

    The EDF deploys!

    To take down giant insects who came from outer space,

    We now head underground for their path we must retrace,

    And find their giant nest and crush the queen's carapace!

    The EDF deploys!

    The Air Force and the Navy were destroyed or cast about,

    Scouts, rangers, wing divers have almost been wiped out,

    Despite all this, the infantry will stubbornly hold out!

    The EDF deploys!

    Our friends were all killed yesterday as were our families,

    Today we may not make it facing these atrocities,

    We'll never drop our banner despite our casualties!

    The EDF deploys!

    Two days ago my brother died, next day my lover fell,

    Today most everyone was killed, on that we must not dwell,

    But we will never leave the field, we'll never say farewell!

    The EDF deploys!

    A legendary hero soon will lead us to glory,

    Eight years ago he sunk the mothership says history,

    Tomorrow we will follow this brave soul to victory!
