- #1Airship
Keys: Airship, Airships
Airships are one of Luminara’s main forms of travel within and around the world, ranging from small private vessels to massive floating habitats. Smaller airships are used for day-to-day transportation between regions, while larger ones function as full living spaces, often housing entire communities and giant cities aboard them. These larger ships are built to be highly inclusive, with features like wide water sections for merfolk, lush garden areas, open ship decks for those who need sunlight, and other spaces designed to suit different races and lifestyles. Smaller airships can dock onto the larger ones, making them feel like moving hubs of life, trade, and travel. Airships stay within Luminara and are used only for travel around the world itself, not beyond.
- #2Galaxial Express
Keys: Galaxial Expresses, Galaxial Express
Known as Galaxial Expresses, Luminara’s interplanetary trains are colossal luxury transit vessels that combine the functions of trains, hotels, and spacecraft into one seamless experience. Unlike airships, which are only used for travel within Luminara itself, Galaxial Expresses are built to travel beyond the world through and beyond the Stardust Road, carrying passengers, tourists, and cargo between distant planets and even entire galaxies. Their sleek, bullet train-like exteriors glow with flowing lines of energy as they race across the cosmos suspended through space itself. Inside, the trains feel less like transportation and more like a hotel or luxury resort, featuring dining halls, lounges, shopping areas, gyms, observation decks with panoramic galaxy views, and fully furnished private rooms where passengers can comfortably stay during journeys that may last days or longer. Different train lines range from cozy public transit models to enormous high-class liners filled with gardens, theaters, pools, and cultural districts themed after different parts of Luminara. Despite their immense size and advanced technology, Galaxial Expresses are known for their warmth and comfort, designed to make even the vast emptiness between stars feel alive and welcoming. Galaxial Expresses return/depart from Luminara at train station/airport-like facilities. These transit facilities, much like a train station or airport, contain souvenir shops, food courts, security checks, and more.
- #3Walking Castles
Keys: Walking Castle, Walking Castles
Walking Castles are colossal, nomadic habitats that serve as Luminara's premier form of overland travel. Functioning much like the world's larger airships, but built entirely for the ground, these massive structures traverse the continent on giant, articulated mechanical legs. They are designed to step carefully over diverse terrains without disrupting the natural ecosystems beneath them. While smaller walking fortresses are used primarily for landlocked trade and cargo, the larger castles house entire moving communities. These colossal structures are built with high inclusivity in mind, featuring interior water sections for merfolk, open-air decks for sunlight, different y and apartments, farms, lakes/pools of water, and lush multi-climate courtyards. Moving at a slow, steady pace, Walking Castles travel exclusively within Luminara's terrestrial borders, acting as vibrant, moving hubs of culture and daily life.
- #4Mounts
Keys: Mount, mounts
Throughout Luminara, various unique creatures have adapted or been domesticated to serve as reliable transportation across the continent's diverse terrestrial borders and skies. These mounts range from high-speed, rolling overland beasts to massive, soaring predators and gentle winged insects, providing riders with exhilarating travel, aerial hunting capabilities, and leisurely scenic flights. Mounts include Motogyrs, Griffins, Grand Silkmoths, Heligales, and other standard mounts like horses.
- #5Motogyr
Keys: Motogyrs, Motogyr
Motogyrs are high-speed creatures. They’re domesticated across Luminara as a means of overland transportation. Resembling an organic motorcycle wheel, they possess a singular, massive, tire-like circular foot. They originally evolved this unique rolling anatomy to rapidly traverse flat plains and outrun predators by building up effortless forward momentum. Biologically, they are built entirely for speed and raw power. Their upper body is shielded by a dome-shaped, durable red and yellow carapace that streamlines their posture, while the pipe-like structures on their backs are specialized respiratory vents that exhaust pressurized metabolic heat and steam. Two handle-like sensory horns project from their heads to gauge wind resistance, providing an ideal grip for riders. Due to the immense torque generated by their rotating muscular core, a single Motogyr can easily pull loads up to five times its own weight without losing speed. Habitat: Flat plains, paved city outskirts, and open roadways Diet: High-energy mineral oils, flint-nuts, and dense grasses Temperament: High-octane, stubborn, and thrill-seeking, loves to race Transportation Use: Ideal for couriers and solo travelers. When fitted with a saddle behind their horns, they offer an exhilarating ride and can easily haul heavily loaded supply wagons.
- #6Griffin
Keys: Griffin, Griffins
Griffins are formidable, pack-hunting beasts that physically bridge the gap between avian and feline predators. Featuring the head, wings, and razor-sharp talons of a massive bird of prey, transitioning seamlessly into the muscular, golden-furred hindquarters of a great cat, they are perfectly built for both aerial strikes and prolonged ground pursuits. Their anatomy is a masterclass in biological compromise. The front half of a griffin’s skeleton is constructed of incredibly strong, honeycomb-patterned hollow bones to support flight, while the rear half consists of dense, heavy bone structure that grounds them and provides explosive pouncing power. They use their keen, raptor-like vision to spot prey from miles above, initiating terrifyingly fast dives before using their lion-like weight to pin the target to the earth. Habitat: Alpine ridges, high cliffsides, and windy steppes Diet: Mountain goats, wild boars, and large terrestrial birds Temperament: Proud, fiercely loyal to their pride, and aggressive Ecological Role: Master aerial hunters and highly sought-after, albeit deeply dangerous, mounts for Luminara’s skies.
- #7Grand Silkmoth
Keys: Grand Silkmoths, Grand Silkmoth
Grand Silkmoths are enormous, rideable insects prized for their gentle temperament and incredibly smooth flight. Easily recognizable by the massive, cloud-like collars of thick fluff around their necks and thoraxes, these mounts are as comfortable as they are visually striking. Their broad, velvety wings allow them to glide silently through the air, making them a favored choice for night travel, stealth operations, or leisurely scenic flights. Riders often nestle directly into the moth's dense fur, which provides natural warmth and wind protection at high altitudes. They produce no sound when they fly and flap their wings. Habitat: varies by species Temperament: varies by species Diet: herbivore, loves nectar.
- #8Heligales
Keys: Heligale, Heligales
The Heligale is an utterly bizarre, delightfully charming creature that spends its days drifting lazily through the high-altitude breezes of Luminara, looking precisely like an animated, ultra-soft winter hat. Heligales possess a rounded, domed, and heavily insulated body made of plush fleece that feels like walking on warm clouds. Hidden neatly beneath its cozy "cap" are four short paws equipped that have surprising grip strength. While they are fully independent animals that can fly and forage on their own, they love to latch onto the heads of travelers. Once secured, a Heligale spins the rigid, ribbon-like propeller appendage growing directly from the top of its head, creating enough lift to comfortably carry both itself and its rider through the air like a living, breathing propeller beanie. There is another variant of Heligale that lacks the propeller appendage but instead has large floppy ears that it uses to fly. Habitat: High-altitude mountain passes, breezy cloud-forest canopies, and bustling aerial transit hubs Diet: Airborne pollen, cloud-spores, and sweet flower nectar Temperament: Incredibly affectionate, lazy when unmounted, and fiercely proud of its flying speed Unique Feature: When it wants to pick someone up, it gently drops down onto their head, tucks its four paws securely into their hair or hood, and purrs with a soft, whirring hum that feels like a soothing scalp massage.
