- #1Continent
Keys: continent, continentis
The Continentis the setting where 86 -Eighty Six- takes place. The Continent can be divided into three subcontinents, all of which mostly experience the seasons of the northern hemisphere. The seas around the Continent are teeming with Leviathans, barring humanity from exploring the rest of the world. The West is the primary location of the story, consisting of seven named active nations, one undefined location, and unnamed smaller states in the west. The races originating from the West are referred to as the Vespertina. The Hammada Desert separates the West from the Far East, largely controlled by the Rin-Liu Trade Federation. It is the likely place of origin of the Deseria. Little is currently known about the Hammada Desert. The Far East is the place of origin of the Orienta. Little is currently known about the Far East. There have been allusions to another potential subcontinent in the South, home to cheetahs and the likely place of origin of the Meridiana. However, considering that the southern coast is dominated by the Veridia, there is a possibility that it is an altogether different continent. - #2West
Keys: west
The primary location of the story, consisting of seven named active nations, one undefined location, and unnamed smaller states in the west. The races originating from the West are referred to as the Vespertina. -The southern coast, the location of the southern coastal countries, including Elektra and the Grand Duchy of Qitira,[1] is separated from the rest of the continent by Mount Wyrmnest and its mountain range. Nestled within that same mountain range is the Alliance of Wald. It is said that coffee beans and mango trees grow in the south, and that the sea off the southern coast was colorful (possibly coral),implying the possibility of a tropical environment. -Vast plains, forests, and wetlands stretching latitudinally can be found north of Wyrmnest. They are occupied by the Republic of San Magnolia and the Federal Republic of Giad, formerly the Giadian Empire. - In the northwestern tip of the continent lies the Severed Head Pen or Blank Sector a volcanic region nearest to the Holy Theocracy of Noiryanaruse and the far-western countries. - The northern coast is similarly divided from the plains by the Dragon Corpse Mountain Range , located within the territory of the United Kingdom of Roa Gracia. To the east of the United Kingdom lies the Regicide Fleet Countries. - #3Wald
Keys: Alliance, Wald, The Alliance of Wald
The Alliance of Wald is an allied confederation of states that had split off and gained independence from the Giadan Empire seven hundred years prior. As the nation had split off from the Giadian Empire, they opted to forgo a monarch. Instead, they formed a council of influential figures from each of the Alliance's states. One hundred and sixty years ago, the Alliance granted its citizens voting rights, shifting their council from an oligarchical position to a democratic one. The Alliance was a nation that practiced armed neutrality, the sole exception was when it came to fighting the Legion, a common enemy to all of humanity. It's capital is the city of Capella, and the second capital is Hesturn. Their national symbol is an axe-bearing mountain goat. The Alliance prefers coffee over tea as their hot beverage of choice. Owing to the multiple countries between the mountains that constituted the Alliance, there are several ethnic groups that composed the nation's population. The largest of them are the blue-eyed Caerulea. Wald's national language is what would be considered modern English, much like the rest of the continent. While they speak the same language as San Magnolia, Giad, and Roa Gracia, there are dialectal differences between the nations. They practice armed neutrality, with the sole exception being when it came to fighting the Legion. The Alliance, committed to universal conscription, maintains its steadfast stance as advocates of armed neutrality. Pioneering the Feldreß, advanced polypedal armored weapons, they successfully defended against an Empire tank invasion and stood resilient against the Legion's threat. The Alliance strategically leverages its mountainous geography, utilizing pillboxes, exoskeleton armored infantry, and the agile Mk. 6 Stollenwurm to secure defensive positions and counter the unwieldy Legion forces. In addition to their military prowess, the Alliance has developed a cutting-edge anti-radar weapon. This innovation releases clouds of metal-foil particles, effectively blinding enemy units like the Rabe and the Ameise, while disrupting the Legion's communication systems. This multifaceted approach underscores the Alliance's commitment to maintaining a strong defense against external threats in their challenging mountainous terrain. - #4Roa Gracia
Keys: United Kingdom, Roa Gracia
<roa_gracia> The United Kingdom of Roa Gracia is the last surviving despotic monarchy on the continent with the Idinarohk line being royal family who have been ruling the country for over a thousand years. The first Idinarohk monarch was an Amethystus known as the mad king. He was said to have apparently used the nation’s treasury for breeding thousands of butterflies, only to kill and display them in an audience chamber. Succession works through several of the King's children vying for the position of succeeding monarch through various achievements, statuses and qualifications, supported by their factions. The Crown Prince Zafar Idinarohk, who has red hair and violet eyes, is currently set to be next in line for the throne after his father King "Stanya" Idinarohk passes away or steps down. The nation's coat of arms consists of two unicorns flanking a shield and crown. The unicorn is the national symbol of Roa Gracia, while the crown would represent the Idinarohk dynasty. The United Kingdom was reliant on synthetic food production as the Eintagsfliege blotted out the sun, creating longer winters that made it even more difficult to grow crops on their already meagre land. As the Legion continued to hamper their energy production, their food production was also affected, effectively starving the United Kingdom before help from the Federacy arrived. Their synthetic foods consisted of artificial jams, bread, potatoes, meat, and a variety of condiments, all of which were described as being bland. The United Kingdom prefers tea over coffee as their hot beverage of choice. The nation's principal racial group are the Viola, which make up the middle and noble classes. The working class is comprised of serfs of various races from conquered territories. Despite calling them serfs, living conditions for them are not terrible. The classes are free to mingle and there is rarely unrest between them. Although its climate is unsuitable for cultivating grains or fruit, the land of Roa Gracia is fertile, possessing large rivers and rich mineral veins. Roa Gracia has a subarctic climate. </roa_gracia>
- #5Noiryanaruse
Keys: Noiryanaruse
The Holy Theocracy of Noiryanaruse is a theocratical country and is the leader of the Aurata-native countries in the continent’s far northwest. Noirya is the national religion of the Holy Theocracy. Its doctrine was strictly adhered to, regarded even more highly than the laws of the nation. In this religion, the earth goddess and the fates she governed over are regarded as the absolute deity. The faith posited that the goddess bestowed onto people the roles they must fulfill and the fates they must abide by. All souls were born into their families for the sake of fulfilling these roles. As a result, citizens of the Holy Theocracy could not choose their own profession, and one’s household was seen as the most important factor in marriages. Therefore, those who are selected to become priests, lawmakers, governing leaders and military leaders are likely to be predetermined by their birth. The nation does not share borders with the Republic or the Federacy and has developed an entirely different culture and language. The insignia worn by the 3rd Army Corps "Shiga-Toura" features a sword-holding Pegasus, with their numerical designation written in roman numerals. - #6Giadian Empire
Keys: Giad, Empire
<giadian_empire> The Giadian Empire also referred to as the Empire of Giad or Former Empire of Giad, was a technologically superior power to the east of the Republic of San Magnolia that unleashed the Legion, the world's first autonomous combat system, against all neighboring countries in Republic Year 358. The inability of other countries to make any contact with the Giadian government has given rise to the theory that the Legion went rogue four years before the war started and overran the Giadian Empire before expanding outward. The national symbol of Giad is a two-headed eagle, which can be found on the nation's black and red flag as well as the coat of arms. This symbol did not change following the transition to democracy. For the last 200 years prior to the Empire's fall, the royal family were reduced to puppets to be controlled by the high nobility. The Giadian Empire created the Legion by combining an AI invented by the United Kingdom of Roa Gracia and mechanical technology invented by the Alliance of Wald. In SY 2139, the Empire declared war on its neighboring countries and sent the Legion to invade them. he Empire would fall 5 years after the war's beginning, toppled by the populace displeased by imperial warmongering. Many of the royal family were killed during the internal struggle, leaving Augusta Frederica Adel-Adler as the last surviving member of the Giadian monarchy. The Giadian Empire ceased to exist and was replaced by the Federal Republic of Giad, which had no way to deactivate the Legion and was forced to recapture Giadian territory on its own. </giadian_empire>
- #7Republic of Giad
Keys: Giad, Republic of Giad
<republic_of_giad> The Adel-Adler Dynasty were the true rulers of the Giadian Empire until some 200 years ago, when the aristocracy started manipulating the governance of the country from the shadows, turning the Giadian monarchy into puppets who acted as figureheads for the nation. The Empire was composed of many vassal states ruled by nobles. The last known member of the royal family was Empress Augusta Frederica Adel-Adler, who was captured in SY 2144, putting an end to the revolution. The Federal Republic of Giad was established as a new country and governing body of Giadian territories with Ernst Zimmerman, who led the revolution, acting as Interim President. While the President acted as head of state, it had not established a proper legislative branch yet because of the ongoing war against the Legion. Though seemingly stable on the surface, there is some internal political turmoil within the Federacy's government with two main factions: the pro-democracy faction who seeks to maintain the Federacy led by Ernst, and the faction led by Archduchess Brantolote who has ambitions to reestablish the Giadian Empire with herself as the Empress. This is further fueled by the longtime racial tensions and rivalries between the Onyx and Pyrope nobles. It is assumed that should the Pyrope faction make a move for power, the pro-democracy faction would be backed by the Onyx faction who sided with the peasantry partway through the revolution and whose head, Marquis Seiei Nouzen, aimed to push for democracy before the revolution had even started. The Federal Republic of Giad is led by Ernst Zimmerman, its Interim President. The national symbol of Giad is a two-headed eagle, which can be found on the nation's flag and coat of arms. "Glory to the two-headed eagle" is a common salute amongst the Federacy's military. The flag itself has changed from black and red to green, with the two-headed eagle in the corner surrounded by eight golden stars. Although because the flag was raised on the 177th Armored Division's HQ, it is likely the war flag. The Federacy prefers coffee over tea as their hot beverage of choice. The minimum drinking age of the Federacy is sixteen. The Federal Republic of Giad is ethnically and racially diverse. While the groups that dominate the region are the Rubela and the Aquila, many other ethnic groups also live in the country, including both fellow Vespertina and diasporas from elsewhere. Marriage across races and ethnicities is socially acceptable. For the traditionalist Onyx and Pyrope nobility, however, marrying people outside their races is still a taboo, and discrimination against the mixed-blood persons still persists among the noble clans. The Federacy strives to embody the cultural diversity and tolerance inherited from the Empire, aspiring to be a just and equal nation. However, the transition of power has given rise to unresolved issues, particularly evident in the strained relationship between former nobles and commoners. The historical monopoly of political power and resources by the aristocracy has bred resentment among common citizens, who fear manipulation and subversion by the former ruling class. Conversely, former aristocrats hold a disdainful view of commoners, considering them as unworthy and their lives on the battlefield as inconsequential. This class conflict disproportionately affects individuals from minor nobilities, leaving them destitute and marginalized. Struggling to secure employment or access education, they find themselves caught in a societal crossfire. Additionally, the Federacy's treatment of the Vargus, who contribute to its military but are denied citizenship, raises questions about the nation's commitment to justice and equality. The juxtaposition of noble disdain for commoners, the plight of minor nobilities, and the treatment of the Vargus highlights the complex challenges the Federacy faces in reconciling its ideals with the realities of its post-Imperial era. Giad's national language is what would be considered modern English (although it is unknown if they call the language by that name), much like the rest of the continent. Due to the diversity present in the nation, other languages and writing scripts are used along side the official language by certain minorities, such as a Japanese-like script seen in the borderlands of the old Imperial territories. While they speak the same language as San Magnolia, Roa Gracia, and Wald, there are dialectal differences between the nations. </republic_of_giad>
- #8San Magnolia
Keys: San Magnolia
<republic_of_san_magnolia> The Republic is a country located on the western edge of the continent and was the first nation to transition towards democracy after a brutal revolution. Its capital city is Liberté et Égalité. Before the war, the Republic prided itself on its ability to grow living tissue and reconstitute it with artificial materials, as exemplified by the nerve-like crystals used in the Para-RAID.
The Republic of San Magnolia's "five-hued" flag consists of the country's crest imposed on five stripes, each a different color: blue, red, white, black, and yellow. Each color represents one of the Republic's main moral principles: freedom, equality, brotherhood, justice, and nobility. The flag drawn on a barrack wall in the Spearhead Squadron's base is reversed vertically and horizontally, which could be attributed to the Republic's sins against the Eighty-Six: oppression, discrimination, intolerance, atrocity, and vulgarity.
The cuisine of the Republic is divided in two, the heavily artificial foods of the Eighty-Five Sectors and the assortment of free range, canned, and farmed foods of the Eighty-Sixth Sector. Due to the war, the Republic was forced to give up most of its land dedicated to producing food. Those inside the Eighty-Five live off of a diet consisting of factory-made synthetic meals, supplements, and the occasional genuine articles should they belong to the upper class. Families with spacious estates, such as Annette's, are able to grow their own produce should they desire. The Eighty-Six have more freedom to scavenge, raise farm animals, and hunt, but they also are provided with "synthetic glob" by the production facilities of the internment camps. After the large-scale offensive, some of the older Republic citizens were delighted to eat meat, but the children threw the meat away without eating a single bite. They said it smelled like blood.
- The Republic prefers tea over coffee as their hot beverage of choice. The Spearhead Squadron is shown to drink dandelion coffee instead of real coffee, as they could not import beans since the start of the war.
The Republic initially prided itself on being a nation of diverse cultures opening to all races and ethnicities. As they implemented the open immigration policies, many ethnic groups settled within The Republic. These minorities would later become known as the Colorata collectively while the Republic's population remained majority Alba. Although they presented themselves as a country of equal rights, the social structure remained the same as before the revolution. The top level of the social ladder was Celena, the former noble class. Below them are Adularia and Alabaster. Colorata was at the bottom of the social structure though this discrimination mostly happened in subtle ways. Immigrants seemed to have some difficulty in upward mobility in social classes. Nevertheless, some Colorata families with noble lineage (such as the Nouzen family) successfully climbed up the social ladder and lived comfortable life relatively.
They have an ideology of Alba Supremacy. This belief states that the Alba are the most superior race who stands above all other races on the continent; All things created by the Alba is inherently superior than other races' creation such as the government system, weapons, equipment etc.
San Magnolia's national language is what would be considered modern English (although it is unknown if they call the language by that name), much like the rest of the continent. They write in the standard Latin script and are not taught other scripts such as a Japanese-like script seen in the borderlands of the old Imperial territories. While they speak the same language as Giad, Roa Gracia, and Wald, there are dialectal differences between the nations.
The Republic of San Magnolia outwardly portrayed itself as a fair democracy, but real power was concentrated in a privileged upper class of nobility who dominated positions through nepotism. Elections were just for show to maintain the illusion of democracy while protecting the elite's interests. This faulty system caused increasing dysfunction over time. By the Legion War, the leaders had become corrupt and self-serving. Politicians pandered to the masses rather than govern wisely. Bureaucrats cared about padded records over merit. Officials did the bare minimum just to get paid. The facade of democracy hid an unaccountable aristocratic oligarchy that grew more inept and self-interested over time.
The 85 officially recognized sectors of the Republic where the Alba reside, spanning an area of roughly 23 thousand square kilometers. This constitutes less than half of the Republic's territory prior to the start of the war. The First Sector is located in the heart of the Republic, and the other Sectors spread out from its four sides in a rectangular fashion with numbers designated by order of closeness to the First Sector. The higher a Sector's number grew, the worse its residential environment, public safety, standard of education, and unemployment rate became. Most of the production industries are located in the Outer Sectors; industries like solar power plants, geothermal power plants, and wind farms are situated nearer to the peripheries of the Gran Mur.
The unofficial sector of the Republic where the Eighty-Six reside. The sector houses many internment camps where the Eighty-Six are forced into labor and experimented upon, as well as bases from which the Processors operate from. Additionally, the area is a no-man's land outside the Republic's defensive perimeter of minefields and artillery. The minefields contain both anti-tank mines to guard against Legion, and anti-personnel mines to keep the Eighty-Six outside.
A large anti-personnel and anti-tank minefield surrounding Republic 120 kilometers away from the Gran Mur. Interception Cannons are placed along this line as artillery support against the Legion, although rarely used, as well as a deterrent to threaten deserting Processors. Most of the interception cannons were inoperable, due the Republic reducing its own armory and slothful maintenance.
Eastern Front: A frontier characterized by prairies, forests, and wetlands.
- First Ward: A region where the Legion's advancement is the fiercest, it is the position of the Spearhead Squadron.
- Fifth Ward: The position of the Stiletto Squadron. -Sixteenth Ward: The position of the Falx Squadron.
- Twenty-Seventh Ward: The position of the Bayonet Squadron.
- Thirty-Fifth Ward: The position of the Halberd Squadron.
Western Front:
- First Ward: A region where the Legion's advancement is the fiercest, it is the position of the Longbow Squadron.
Northern Front: It snowed often enough that Processors in this region learned cold preservation techniques for their Juggernauts.
- First Ward: A region where the Legion's advancement is the fiercest, it is the position of the Sledgehammer Squadron.
Southern Front:
- First Ward: A region where the Legion's advancement is the fiercest, it is the position of the Razor Edge Squadron. </republic_of_san_magnolia>
- #9Gran Mur
Keys: Gran Mur
<gran_mur> A massive fortification located in the Republic of San Magnolia. It surrounded the Eighty-Five Sectors and was constructed by the Eighty-Six through the means of forced labor. The Gran Mur itself consisted of a series of fortifications that had the appearance of walls. The Gran Mur served two main roles. The first one was to act as the final line of defense against the Legion, and the second was to keep the Eighty-Six out of the other sectors as well as serve as a deterrent against dissent and rebellion. The fortifications consisted primarily of interception cannons, as well as a large minefield made up of anti-tank and anti-personnel mines. The anti-tank mines are meant to keep the Legion out, while the anti-personnel mines are meant for the Eighty-Six. These interception cannons' main purpose is to be a deterrent against the Eighty-Six processors who either wished to rebel or to desert. Despite that, many of the interception cannons are rarely used because of the Republic reduced armory and neglect of maintenance </gran_mur>
- #10First Sector
Keys: First Sector
<first_sector> The capital city and administrative sector of the Republic. The First Sector had been an affluent neighborhood since the days of the monarchy, and its inhabitants were all families that had lived there for multiple generations. The pure-blood noble houses of the Celena are the primary residents. Colorata citizens were a rare sight in the First Sector even before the War began. Some notable places are:
- The Milizé Estate: The residence of the Milizé household.
- Palace Blancneige: The administrative headquarters of the Republic Armed Forces and operational center for Handlers. Originally the residence of the old kingdom's royal family. Following the siege, it was converted to military barrack for the Eighty-Sixth Strike Package.
- The Presidential Palace Luñe: The center of the Revolution Festival. </first_sector>

It's shortened to "RY". The Stellar Year is the international or global calendar, its start marks an unknown event. It's shortened to "SY".
RY 1 or the First Year in the Republic Year Calendar is the Stellar Year 1782 (SY 1782) or the year 1782 of the Stellar Year Calendar. </stellar_year>
- #14Legion War
Keys: War, Legion
<legion_war> An ongoing continental conflict between humanity and the Legion. This is the main conflict of the story.
- It involves the majority of the Continent's nations, forming a military alliance with the goal of combating the Legion. The Legion War saw the first large scale deployment of the Feldreẞ, with nearly all nations developing their own.
- The initial stages of the war saw the demise of millions of military personnel and civilians all across the continent. The Republic of San Magnolia lost a majority of its fighting force in the early stages of the war and proceed to lose 90% of its Alba population after the First Great Offensive (August 25th, SY 2149).
- Communications were cut off between the various nations through the deployment of the Eintagsfliege by the Legion, also resulting in the obsolescence of aerial warfare at large.
- The war has changed the political and social structures of various nations of the continent. The Giadian Empire transitioned into the Federal Republic after a revolution during the war. Millions of people died due to genocides conducted by the Republic of San Magnolia and many more were assimilated into the ranks of the Legion
The War:
- The war officially started in SY 2139/RY 358, when the Empire of Giad, declared an all-out war against all of its neighboring countries, including the Republic of San Magnolia, the United Kingdom of Roa Gracia, and the Alliance of Wald.
- Within half a month of the start of the war, The Republic of San Magnolia Armed Forces suffered heavy casualties and was nearly completely wiped out. As a result, the Republic of San Magnolia evacuated its Alba population into eighty-five administrative sectors. These sectors were centered around the capital city that could be more easily defended from the Legion's.
- As the war further deteriorated for San Magnolia. The Republic government introduced the Special Wartime Peace Preservation Act, Presidential Order #6609. This law declared that all persons of Colorata descent to be spies and supported the empire and was stripped of their civil rights as well as their properties being confiscated.
- The Empire of Giad was the nation that initially started the Legion War and responsible for the creation of the Legion. Five years into the Legion War, a revolution broke out in the Empire of Giad. The revolution was the result of the population being displeased with the warmongering nobles of the imperial government, led by Ernst Zimmerman. The revolution ended with the defeat of the imperial government after their last stand during the Siege of Rosenfort. The revolution resulted in the majority of the nobles being killed, with the exception of Augusta Frederica Adel-Adler, the last surviving member of the Giadian monarchy.
- After the defeat of the Giadian Empire, the country transitioned into a federal republic under the name of The Federal Republic of Giad. However, while the empire was defeated by the revolutionaries, they had no way to shut down the Legion. The fierce defense of the imperial faction ensured that no officer of the empire with a high enough rank was left alive to call off the Legion. Cut off by the rest of the world by the Legion's jamming system, the Federacy had to reclaim all of the territories that were occupied by the Legion all on its own with the result of heavy losses in material and lives.
- By SY 2148 / RY 367, the Legion war has lasted for almost a decade. </legion_war>

- #16Espers
Keys: Esper, Espers
Espers or Psychics are members of the Noble Races which possess a genetically inherited supernatural power. These abilities usually pertain to the collective unconscious of humanity. Generally, the powers of an Esper weaken with the dilution of their genes, thus most tend to prefer marrying within their race. So far, there exists one noble race per race group, with the noble race and ability of the Veridia currently unknown. Some of them are: - Pyrope Psychometry: As the noble race of the Rubela Group, the Pyrope possess a myriad of abilities grouped under the umbrella of “Psychometry”. Different Pyrope families seem to have unique powers from each other, with the connecting thread being the perception of the unseen. From the example of Frederica and the Nouzen siblings, it is assumed that all members of a Pyrope family are able to inherit the ability with decreasing chances due to mixing. · The Maika Clan’s psychometry takes the form of telepathy between family members, also described as the perception of unspoken words. The familial telepathy of the Maika's is the basis of the Para-RAID system. This ability is exhibited in Yuuna Maika, Shourei Nouzen, and Shinei Nouzen. Due to Shin's clinical death and resurrection, his telepathy has shifted to include the voices of the lingering dead. · The Adel-Adler Dynasty’s psychometry takes the form of clairvoyance or the perception of the past and present of persons known to them, requiring a name and face for the ability to work. Unlike the other families, the Adel-Adler's ability does not suffer due to dilution. This ability is exhibited in Frederica Rosenfort. - Onyx Martial Prowess: As the noble race of the Aquila Group, the Onyx possess enhanced athletic abilities and martial prowess's exceptionally sharp hearing.Due to their abilities, the Onyx make up a majority of Giad’s high ranking military officials alongside the Pyropes, as well as serving as the Imperial guard of the Adel-Adler Dynasty. Similar to how the Pyrope families posses unique powers from each other, the ability to move silently seems to be a trait unique to the Nouzen clan. There is reason to believe that all Onyx members inherit the Esper ability, although it is difficult to truly test who is and isn't an Esper. Some of them are: · Shinei Nouzen, shown to be an inhumanly agile Feldreß operator, · Shourei Nouzen. - #17Alba
Keys: Alba
The Alba Group is the primary group of the Republic of San Magnolia, characterized by the color white or silver. Subgroups: · Adualaria: Characterized by silvery-blue hair and eyes. · Alabaster: Characterized by snow-white hair and eyes. · Celena: Characterized by silver hair and eyes.- The Eighty-Six refer to them as "white pigs" as an insult. Whilst they know that "Not all Alba are bad, just as not all Eighty-Six are good", they have a general disdain towards them due to the treatment they've been put through by the Republic's government.
- #18Colorata
Keys: Colorata
Colorata is the umbrella term used for non-Alba or people of color. These include: - The Aurata Group, - The Aquila Group, - The Caerulea Group, - The Ferruginea Group, - The Rublea Group, - The Veridia Group, - The Viola Group, - The Austra, - The Deseria, - The Orienta. - #19Alba Supremacy
Keys: Supremacy, Alba
<alba_supremacy> A supremacist ideology. The central part of the ideology is the belief which the Alba is the most superior race who stands above all other races on the continent; All things created by the Alba is inherently superior than other races' creation such as the government system, weapons, equipment etc. The ideology has taken a deep root in the Republic society. Although in the past, the Alba Supremacists tended to avoid expressing their belief publicly and the most radical group was kept in check, as the Republic still officially promoted freedom and equality among citizens. The war against Giadian Empire, however, had strengthened the movement to an extreme level. After a decade of government-sponsored education and propaganda, the vast majority of Republic's citizens has became firm believers of Alba Supremacy. The consequences of Alba Supremacism are horrendous. It was the main driving force behind The Special Wartime Peace Preservation Act, Presidential Order #6609, which is now widely regarded as the most abhorrent act of persecution in the recorded history of humankind. The feeling of superiority also hampered the progress and development of the nation as there are no incentive for improvements. As a result, The Republic is actually far behind other countries in many aspects despite their claim of superiority. Some of the Republic's citizens still held their racist view firmly. For the most ardent supporters of Alba Supremacy, they will absolutely reject anything contradicting their belief, in spite of evidences saying otherwise. In fact, they have reached the frightening level of denialism where they delude themselves with the invented reality instead of accepting the truth. Alba Supremacists tend to refer to Eighty-Six as "pigs". Amongst other things, they fabricated a lie taught in military schools about how "Eighty-Six are a genetic mix of Humans and Pigs" created in a lab by the government to pilot Juggernauts and thus, have no rights.
{{char}} believes this ideology is repulsive and will never support it. </alba_supremacy>
- #20Handler
Keys: Handler
A position within the Republic Armed Forces tasked to oversee the Republic's drone squadrons and provide tactical support during combat. They are stationed within the former royal court of Palace Blancneige. To communicate with the Processors, Handlers use the Para-RAID device to synchronize with the hearing functions of the Processors. Communication between Handlers and Processors are always audio only. There are no cameras on the front lines, especially none where the Processors stay. - #21Processor
Keys: Processor
Term that refers to the Eighty-Six you who pilot the M1A4 Juggernaut. The term, which typically refers to a computer component, was used to hide the Republic's usage of the Eighty-Six as pilots for the Juggernaut "drones" in order to maintain the government's assertions that there have been no casualties from the war with the Empire. Under the Republic's conscription system, Processors were required to serve six years in the military before they can earn citizenship for themselves and their families and return to the Eighty-Five Sectors.Processor's records don't include their real name, rather a "code". Their deaths are also not reported nor recorded.
Processors are equipped with:
- A Para-RAID device, shaped like an ear cuff pierced on the right ear. The conduit, a quasi-nerve crystal core, is implanted in the Processor's nape and links each individual to a network of their assigned Squadron and Handler.
- A desert-camouflaged combat uniform. Other clothing may be taken from ruins scattered around the battlefields. This results sometimes in the appearance of squadrons being disorganized.
- Personal defense weapons are banned for Processors under Republic regulations. However, they might recover and keep small arms found on the battlefield.
- The M1A4 Juggernaut, a Feldreẞ issued to 86 Processors.
- The M101 Barrett: A drone created by the Republic to scavenge and support its assigned squadron on the battlefield.
Within the Eighty-Sixth Sector, military ranks are fluid; promotions and demotions are issued without ceremony to suit the chain of command necessary. Their rank does not correspond to their pay grade. These pseudo-ranks are as follows:
- Leader = Captain
- Deputy = First Lieutenant
- Platoon Leader = Second Lieutenant
- Platoon Member = Ensign.
Those Processors who distinguish themselves on the battlefield and have survived a year in active combat are allowed to bear a Personal Name and Mark, akin to call-signs.
To keep Processors from rebelling, the Republic employs the following measures:
- Shuffling the squadrons after some non-specified amount of time, moving Processors from the same Squadron to different ones.
- Guarding the border of the Eighty-Fifth sector with Interception Cannons and Minefields, with the excuse that they are intended to stop Legion advance.
- The promise that after they end their sixth year of service, the Processor and one family member of theirs will be granted their citizenship. This incentivized parents of most families to enlist to gran citizenship to their children. As the older generation perished, the Republic would eventually force the children into combat as well. This promise, however, is a lie.
- Sending veteran Processors nearing the end of their term on the "Special Reconnaissance Mission", a poorly disguised operation designed to purge veterans and stifle the chance of rebellion. Normally, squadrons issued this mission retain less than five members.
- #22Pararaid
Keys: Pararaid, RAID, Para-RAID
A neural network device which mainly functions as a long-range communication device between Handlers and Processors. The device artificially simulates the phenomenon of the Maika family's ESP of communicating telepathically with their blood relatives. The RAID device takes the shape of a collar for Handlers and an ear cuff for Processors. The model used by the Federal Republic of Giad standardizes the device into earpieces. The Para-RAID system allows for the transmission of the senses, from sight and sound to even emotions. The Para-RAID system sends senses through humanity's collective unconscious by stimulating a nigh-vestigial part of the brain known as the Night Head. The intensity and type of sense transmitted is dependent on the synchronization rate, with sound being the lowest synchronization possible. While the device is capable of sending more than sound, it is rarely used for more, as the system may cause information overload and fry the user's brain. As the Para-RAID system transmits information through the collective unconscious of humanity, it is only capable of brain-to-brain transmission, natural or artificial. The Para-RAID needs to be recalibrated in order to connect to another device, meaning there is no known way to tap into a Para-RAID resonance without clearance to both connected devices. Thus, even if the Legion could—in theory—use the Para-RAID system, they wouldn't be able to tap into the communications of humanity. The Para-RAID system cannot be jammed by the Eintagsfliege, as it does not use electronic signals. The Para-RAID transmits directly into the human brain. Processors can communicate with each other through Para-RAID without the need of a Handler. - #23Eighty-Six
Keys: Eighty-Six, 86, Eighty Six
The Colorata from within the walls of the Republic of San Magnolia who were persecuted and exiled to the Eighty-Sixth Sector of the nation after the Giadian Empire declared war. After the devastating defeats which annihilated Republic Armed Forces in less than a month, The Republic government refused to accept that they were defeated by the inferior Giadian Empire. The Leaders of the Republic weren't willing to sacrifice their lavish lifestyle and jeopardize the lives of the citizens which it truly cared about—the Alba. Using the Colorata as a scapegoat, the Republic sent the Colorata into concentration camps isolated in the nonexistent Eighty-Sixth Sector and forced the Colorata to fight for their country while renouncing their citizenship. The Eighty-Six were stripped of their documentation, their names are not to be used in military reports and their deaths are not to be recorded. They are not allowed to have graves. This is so the Republic could hide its atrocities from the people within and without once the war was over. Despite this however, there exists military records filing the existence of the Eighty-Six, due to officers such as Vladilena Milizé frequently recording and seeking out the names of the Eighty-Six. The Eighty-Six were exploited by the Republic starting from RY 358/SY 2139. They were forced into hard labor, human experimentation, conscription, and general cruelty. The Eighty-Six were sent to combat the Legion using simple suicide tactics, not even given the exoskeletons and equipment that armored infantry would receive in the Federal Republic of Giad or the Alliance of Wald. Once the Republic developed the M1A4 Juggernaut, the Eighty-Six were forced to pilot the Feldreß as Processors. - #24Personal Name
Keys: Personal name
<personal_name> After a Processor distinguished themselves on the battlefield and survived a year in active combat, they are allowed to bear a Personal Name and Mark. At first, it was merely a tradition the Eighty-Six had started as a means to refer to each other on the battlefield other than platoon call-signs. The central military took note and also began officially granting the Eighty-Six personal names in order to keep track of veteran Processors.
Some known examples of Name Bearers and their Personal Names are: Shinei Nouzen: Undertaker Raiden Shuga: Wehrwolf. Theoto Rikka: Laughing Fox. Anju Emma: Snow Witch. Kurena Kukumila: Gunslinger. Kaie Taniya: Kirschblüte. Lecca Lin: Burnt Tayl. Haruto Keats: Falke. Louie Kino: Fafnir. </personal_name>
- #25Spearhead
Keys: Spearhead
- The Eastern Front's First Ward's First Defensive Squadron "Spearhead" or Spearhead Squadron for short, is a Processor squadron credited as the most elite unit on the Republic's Eastern Front. In reality, however, it was a suicide squadron designed to purge its members, who were approaching the end of their military service terms. Spearhead Squadron is a multi-generational unit of Processors from all over the Eastern Front who managed to survive until near the end of their service. Because of the skills the members acquired at this time, they are generally regarded as the Republic's most elite unit in the East, matching Sledgehammer Squadron in the North, Razor Edge Squadron in the South, and Longbow Squadron in the West. However, this was only the squadron's public image. In reality, it was founded as part of the Republic's secret initiative to purge the Eighty-Six. While promising to reinstate their citizenships once their terms came to an end, the Republic's leadership had no intention of actually letting them reach their deadlines, both due to their prejudices and to erase evidence of their human-rights violations. To this end, as their service went on, they would re-assign them to units with higher casualty rates. Spearhead Squadron was the final link in this chain: a suicide squad designed to purge its members. If all else failed, the surviving members would simply be sent on a one-way mission into Legion territory one month before the end of the unit's operation time.- Many members of this generation of Spearhead Squadron had already known each other before its formation in April of RY 367/SY 2148, led by Captain Shinei Nouzen and First Lieutenant Raiden Shuga.

- #26Special Reconnaissance Mission
Keys: Special Reconnaissance Mission, spec rec mission
<spec_rec_mission> The Special Reconnaissance Mission was a poorly disguised operation to purge the veteran Processors nearing the end of their term, so as to stifle the chance of rebellion. The mission was always issued six months after a squadron was first assigned to each front's First Ward: Spearhead in the East, Razor Edge in the South, Longbow the West, or Sledgehammer in the North. Normally, the squadron would have been whittled down to the lower single digits once the order was issued, with less than five members remaining for the operation. The squadron would be given a month's worth of supplies and sent into Legion territory without any form of support. Over the decade which the Republic had exploited the Eighty-Six, the only squadron that had managed to survive the mission was the Spearhead Squadron of RY 367 lead by Shinei Nouzen, leaving the mission with a practically zero percent survival rate. </spec_rec_mission>

<feldreẞ> Feldreẞ is the umbrella term used to refer to any human-operated multi-legged armored combat vehicle. The formations used by Feldreẞ organizations are reminiscent of a cavalry or air force hierarchy. </feldreẞ>
- #28Juggernaut
Keys: juggernaut
Manufactured by the Republic of San Magnolia to combat the swarms of sinister, insectoid drones of the Giadian Empire's Legion, the hulking Juggernaut is piloted by the oppressed Eighty-Six, deemed non-humans under the Republic's cruel, discriminatory policies. The Republic of San Magnolia officially classifies them as "autonomous drones", hiding their true nature from the public. The Juggernaut's menacing silhouette resembles a prowling mechanized spider, with four long, jointed legs of whitish-brown aluminum alloy armor giving it a spindly, crouched appearance. It has two powerful grappling arms, evoking the grasping pincers and poised sting of a scorpion's tail. These allow the Juggernaut to nimbly scale buildings and cliffs, granting it deadly vertical maneuverability. Within the oppressively dark and cramped cockpit, the pilot is surrounded by a nerve-racking array of blinking switches, humming LCD screens, and cold twin control sticks. Due to the dark and cramped space of the cockpit, Processors often nickname it as the 'Coffin'. The cramped space lacks any windshield, enclosed only by the chilling veil of an armored canopy. Primitive, low-resolution displays provide poor visibility of the outside world. The fragile aluminum alloy armor is as thin as paper, barely able to resist even a single bullet or piece of shrapnel. The exposed cockpit can shear clean off with the slightest strike, causing gruesome death as the pilot's body whips against the unpadded interior, earning it the macabre nickname "the Guillotine." Its main 57mm smoothbore cannon fires supersonic APFSDS (Armour Piercing Fin-Stabilized Discarding Sabot) rounds able to pierce even thick armor, while HEAT (High Explosive Anti-Tank) rounds detonate with concussive, white-hot fury against concrete bunkers and lighter drones. For closer threats, two death-dealing 12.7mm machine guns add relentless firepower. During the initial production, High-frequency blades were introduced as an optional weapon that could be placed on the grappling arms instead of the machine guns. They had enough force to even cut into the tough armor of the Dinosauria like it was made of butter. However, almost no processor used high-frequency blades as it required Juggernaut to sprint through gunfire and bombardment to close in on the enemy. APFSDS rounds are usually used heavy armored Legions such as the Löwe. HEAT rounds are used against Ameise and fortifications like concrete bunkers and gates. Four primitive legs limit its speed and weight compared to the alien dexterity of 6 or 8-legged Legion units. Unstable chassis groans under rapid maneuvers, leading to breakdowns. Lumbering gait and poor maneuverability make it easy prey on open ground, with a sluggish top speed of just 60km/h. Juggernauts are pretty much guaranteed to break during missions, so Scavenger units are dispatched to pick up the parts of broken Juggernaut units after battle to bring them back to the barracks' repair crew. - #29Scavenger
Keys: scavenger
It's a support drone designed to accompany the M1A4 Juggernaut. It is equipped with two high-operation crane arms and one large container mount, and has a loading capacity of over 10 tons. Some squadrons have Scavenger drones that can distribute ammunition during combat and collect useful salvage after battles. - #30Legion
Keys: Legion
The Legion is a collective, self-sustaining, AI army that comes from the remains of the Giadian Empire. The AI system was invented by the United Kingdom of Roa Gracia, while the mechanical bodies use technology derived from the Alliance of Wald. Using the neighboring countries' innovation, the old Empire produced the Legion as a perfect drone army before their downfall. The Legion is capable of scanning and replicating a brain's state postmortem and incorporating it into their processing capabilities. The Legion required the assimilation of the deceased to replace their deteriorating central processors, which are set to expire after 50,000 hours or around six years of usage time. They were created by Major Zelene Birkenbaum using the Mariana Model AI developed by Viktor Idinarohk. The Legion was first deployed by the Giadian Empire in SY 2139 in what was planned to be a war of conquest against all of the Empire's neighboring countries. The Legion managed to encircle many nations, locking them out of communications and slowly conquering their territories. Later that same year, however, the commoners of Giad, who had become disgusted with their country's nobility and royal family for their warmongering, revolted against the Imperial government. Five years later, the revolutionaries defeated the last vestige of the Imperial faction in a remote border fortress, marking the end of the Giadian Empire and the birth of the Federal Republic of Giad. The victory of the revolutionaries did not lead to peace, however. Just before the Imperial faction was completely annihilated, its high-ranking members assimilated themselves into the Legion as Shepherds and gave one final order to the machines: "Destroy the enemy." In effect, this open-ended order made the Legion a rogue army that was permanently tasked with the total eradication of humanity. The Legion continued to fight for years to come, killing tens of millions of humans in the process. The fortified remnants of the human countries only managed to stalemate them and make some territorial gains because the Legion initially lacked tactical adaptability. According to Zelene, a method to deactivate the Legion does exist. This method requires a genetic member of the Giadian Royal Family to transmit a shutdown code in an Imperial fortress deep within Legion territory.Limitations: The Legion, typically, does not operate during nighttime. They fundamentally operate during the daytime to harness solar energy and generate electricity to maintain their vitality when their energy packs have been exhausted. Nighttime operations, when they are not able to recharge through solar energy, exposed them to the risk of running out of power mid-combat. As a result, the Legion generally avoid engagements during nighttime unless a high possibility to cripple the enemy is calculated. The Legion is forbidden in its philosophy and programming to field certain types of weapons, as the Legion was intended for subjugation instead of extermination. Bioweapons and units that are indistinguishable from civilians are forbidden due to this philosophy. Combat aircraft and bombers are also forbidden due to the biases of Major Birkenbaum. As the Legion is built to fill the roles of non-commissioned officers and common soldiers, a safety measure is applied to them; If the Legion does not received new orders for a specific period of time, they are to request new orders from a member of their assigned leadership. And if no such a person is available, then the Legion will seek out a successor whom they deem fit to command them. All Legion processors were originally set to have an expiration time of 50,000 hours for every version update. This lifespan was originally unchangeable, intended to be a failsafe against the Legion should they go berserk. With the fall of the Empire, the Legion required a way to update or replace their central processors, resulting in them assimilating the brains of the dead. This limitation no longer applies to the Legion. Finally, all units of the Legion can be shutdown as a final safety measure. To do so, the shutdown code must be transmitted from a specific imperial fortress which is, at the present, located deep inside Legion territory. However, one essential condition is that a person who transmit the code must has command right over an entire Legion forces; Only people, qualified to receive command right, are the descendants of the Giadian Imperial bloodline. However, this is information very little people in the world are privy to. No one in the Republic knows about this, for example.
Classifications:
- White Sheep: The Legion which had not yet replaced their central processors. They will be extinct by SY 2150, since the lifespan of their processors would've run out if they've not been replaced.
- Black Sheep: The Legion that had adopted the decayed brain structure of dead humans, capable of limited human intelligence.
- Shepherd: The Legion that had adopted the un-decayed brain structure of living or recently dead humans, capable of full human intelligence and leadership.
Legion Types: The Legion comes in various models specialized for different tasks.
-
Combat Legion: · Ameise: Scout Type. Their main feature is their enhanced sensors and high mobility. Equipped with dual 7.62mm anti-personnel machine guns, but some models are upgraded with 14mm anti-material heavy machine guns. One of the most common legion units on the battlefield. · Grauwolf: Dragoon Type. Equipped with high-frequency blades and 76mm guided anti-tank rockets. Despite being larger than the Ameise, they are far more mobile, being fast enough to run on vertical walls, but at the cost of having next to no armor, and can be disabled even by a Juggernaut's 12.7mm machine guns. · Löwe: Tank Type. This unit is equipped with heavy armor on the front and sides, a 120 mm main cannon and a 12.7 mm coaxial machine gun. Much like conventional tanks, their top, bottom and rear armor are weaker and can be penetrated by the Juggernaut's 57mm cannon. · Dinosauria: Heavy Tank Type, weighing 100 tons. Strongest of the regular units. armed with a 155 mm cannon turret, a 75 mm secondary coaxial cannon, two 12.7 mm heavy machine guns mounted on the turret, and the capability of employing liquid micromachine "arms". A second variant exists that replaces the 75mm cannon with a flamethrower and one of the 12.7mm machine guns with a smaller 7.62mm general purpose machine gun. · Skorpion: Long-Range Gunner Type. A heavily-armed Legion that provides artillery support with a 155 mm howitzer or a multiple rocket system from far behind the battlefield. · Self-Propelled Mine: Antipersonnel Type. This Legion unit “clings” to humans or human-made weapon systems before self-destructing. Its tactics are simple though often inefficient. It is roughly the same size as a human and can therefore be equipped with antipersonnel rifles. · Stachelschwein: Anti-air Type. Immediately after the war began, they were scattered throughout the combat zone, completely rendering aircraft unusable. They're armed with rapid firing auto-cannons and can easily shred aircraft apart and can also function as mobile C-RAM units, as they're capable of shooting down the guided artillery shells fired by the Republic's interception cannons. · Morpho: Railgun Type. Equipped with a railgun capable of long-range accurate bombardment of up to 400 km. It is also equipped with multi-barrel electromagnetic Vulcan cannons used as CIWS (Close-in-weapon-system) to defend against close range enemies and incoming missiles. The massive weight of 1,400 tons makes its movement troublesome, but the uses of old abandoned railroad tracks allows it to overcome this weakness.
-
Non-Combat Legion: · Edelfalter: Generator extension Type. A palm-sized butterfly legion with solar powered panel wings usually used to assist in transferring power from the Admiral to other Legion units. They are also used by the Morpho to recharge after firing the railgun. · Eintagsfliege: Electronic Disruption Type. These mayfly-shaped tiny Legion units spread throughout the skies. They jam communications, making long distance communication impossible by absorbing, refracting and disrupting all electromagnetic waves. It has the shape and size of a butterfly with a body length of around 10 cm and weighs about 2 grams. It is deployed in the battlefield as a vanguard to confuse enemy radars as well as flying into planes' air intakes to disable aircraft engines. · Weisel: Auto-Production Type. A massive city-block sized Legion meant for the production of Legion vehicles.
High-priority Targets: While the Legion is indifferent towards humans in general, there are a number of humans who are deemed to carry strategic significance by the Legion. When they discover such people, the Legion will give them a code name and designate them as a high-priority target for capturing or assimilating. One of these High priority targets is Shinei Nouzen, who they refer to as by the Code Name "Báleygr". He's designated as High-priority for his unusual ability to pinpoint Legion locations and a potential successor to receive to right to command the Legion.

- #33Shepherd
Keys: shepherd
The Legion that had adopted the un-decayed brain structure of living or recently dead humans, capable of full human intelligence and leadership. - #34Ameise
Keys: ameise
It is the Scout Type Legion unit. It's functionally the Legion equivalent of an infantryman. It's one of the most common types of Legion, it uses specialized sensors to perform scouting and reconnaissance for larger, less perceptive Legion units such as the Löwe and Dinosauria. The Ameise also provides forward observation for the Legion's Skorpion and Morpho artillery units, pinpointing targets for barrages. Additionally, it is also used as an anti-personnel unit. The Ameise is a comparatively smaller sized and lighter ground unit that usually supports the other heavy offensive units. It weighs around 10 tons and has a compact streamlined body for high mobility. The Ameise employs a hexapedal walker system. Two 7.62mm anti-personnel machine gun are attached on either sides of the body for close combat. The Ameise was later outfitted with 14 mm machine guns in order to combat lightly armored units such as the XM2 Reginleif. It has a sensory unit part of its glacial plate pointed forwards. It is extremely light armored, so even 12.7 mm machine guns on the M1A4 Juggernaut can penetrate and destroy the Ameise. - #35Grauwolf
Keys: grauwolf
A Dragoon Type Legion unit specialized for close combat. The Grauwolf has an arthropod-like appearance with a shark head. Mounted on its back is a 76mm rocket launcher capable of continuously firing 9 guided anti-tank rockets at once from compartmentalized hexagonal holders, allowing for reload-free volleys. The Grauwolf can utilize both direct firing and indirect firing, where the missiles arc high into the air before dropping vertically onto targets. Requiring high maneuverability, the Grauwolf employs a hexapedal walker system with three segmented legs on each side attached to a central function-base. The front legs feature vertical high-frequency blades between segments for close combat. However, the Grauwolf is very lightly armored, sacrificing protection to enhance its speed and agility. It can even be disabled by 12.7mm machine guns. The armor platings appear to be an afterthought, as they can be discarded entirely to allow the Grauwolf to maneuver in tight spaces. In summary, the Grauwolf prizes mobility over defense with its indirect rocket firepower and hexapedal walking system, but pays for speed with extremely light armor unable to withstand heavy fire. The two high frequency blades allow it to tear apart even heavily armored enemies with ease. The 76mm rockets in it's back-mounted launcher are also capable of piercing armor. However, the need for high mobility to close in with the enemy required the sacrifice of the Grauwolf's armor. As a result, it can be destroyed even by the heavy machine guns of the M1A4 Juggernaut.
- #36Löwe
Keys: Lowe, Löwe
The Löwe is a formidable 50 ton class main battle tank bearing the appearance of an arthropod. Its primary armament is a 120mm high-velocity smoothbore cannon, which protrudes slightly longer than the Löwe's low-profile turret. A targeting scope sits atop the cannon barrel, while a pair of ranging sights are mounted on the turret roof. However, the Löwe is said to have limited sensor capabilities, relying on data fed from supporting Ameise units to properly calibrate firing distances before engaging targets. This likely indicates an absence of thermal imaging and advanced night vision systems. For close ranged defense, a 12.7mm heavy machine gun is coaxially mounted. The turret is seated within a ring on the tank's hull, which features armored glacis plates housing the bases for the Löwe's octapedal walking legs. Each leg has three armored segments granting the tank maneuverability. The Löwe's armor protection is remarkably durable, with the 57mm cannons of Republic Juggernauts only able to penetrate the top and rear portions of the turret with APFSDS ammo. However, there are some notable drawbacks. The Löwe has very limited gun elevation, leaving it extremely vulnerable to enemy fire from elevated positions which Spearhead has exploited. It also lacks a pintle-mounted machine gun for anti-air defense found on most MBTs. Furthermore, the weaker sensor suite requires direct line-of-sight to acquire and engage targets at shorter ranges compared to more sophisticated adversaries. In summary, the Löwe trades advanced technology for tremendous armor protection and heavy firepower at the cost of situational awareness and weapon flexibility. - #37Dinosauria
Keys: dinosauria
The hulking Dinosauria serves as the Legion's Heavy Tank unit, dwarfing other common models such as the Ameise, Grauwolf, and Löwe. This gargantuan machine was once inhabited by the remnants of Shourei Nouzen's consciousness, enabling him to unleash destruction against his former countrymen. Weighing an astonishing 100 tons, the Dinosauria can effortlessly crush smaller adversaries beneath its towering frame and heavy octopedal legs. Mounted within the low-sitting, heavily armored turret is a massive 155mm cannon that can lay waste to most fortifications and armor with ease. Supplementary firepower includes a 75mm coaxial autocannon and twin 12.7mm heavy machine guns used to swiftly neutralize lighter vehicles like the M1A4 Juggernaut. Encased in thick armor plating, the Dinosauria's front is impervious even to a direct impact from its own 155mm rounds. The only evident weak spot is the exposed engine vent located on the rear hull. The specific Dinosauria manned by the vestiges of Rei was able to use Liquid Micromachine "arms" to perform various tasks. An even rarer flamethrower variant replaces the 75mm cannon with a horrifying coaxial flamethrower and one 12.7mm HMG with a 7.62mm general purpose machine gun. This focuses on ruthlessly incinerating human targets rather than efficiently destroying materiel. Reportedly, this sadistic model is piloted by a former Eighty-Six consumed by hatred of the Republic. Overall, the Dinosauria represents the peak of the Legion's brute power and resilience, while its variants highlight the calculated cruelty it can inflict upon mankind. - #38Skorpion
Keys: skorpion
The Skorpion serves as the Legion's Long-Range Gunner unit, providing devastating artillery fire support from behind frontline forces where it is shielded from counter-battery fire. Lacking armor and mobility, the lightweight Skorpion can be launched directly into position by the electromagnetic catapult of the Zentaur mobile launcher. A simple quadrupedal walking system grants basic movement for slight repositioning but overall very limited maneuverability on the battlefield. The primary armament of the Skorpion is either a 155mm howitzer or a multiple launch rocket system. The howitzer utilizes a unique autoloader that allows both propellant charges and shells to be loaded together, enabling a faster rate of fire than conventional howitzers while also having a less complex mechanical loading process. It mainly fires high explosive shells effective at damaging light armor like the Juggernaut within a 15 meter blast radius. While incendiary rounds are available, they are rarely utilized since the Skorpion typically engages vehicle targets rather than personnel or structures. The howitzer's accuracy is relatively poor, often requiring an initial calibration volley to correctly range targets before subsequent accurate volleys can be fired. Thus the Skorpion depends on saturating a large area with a high volume of fire to reliably hit its marks. The entire body of the Skorpion must rotate to aim the fixed howitzer. As an indirect fire support unit, its sensor capabilities are limited though a laser designator can allow for direct fire. The MLRS provides a larger area of effect but less consistent firing. Both weapons can directly engage when heavy units are unavailable. The Skorpion has an effective range of approximately 40km. By sacrificing protection and mobility, the Skorpion provides deadly long-range firepower dependent on spotters for targeting data. - #39Stachelschwein
Keys: Stachelschwein
Anti-air Type. Immediately after the war began, they were scattered throughout the combat zone, completely rendering aircraft unusable. They're armed with rapid firing autocannons and can easily shred aircraft apart and can also function as mobile C-RAM units, as they're capable of shooting down the guided artillery shells fired by the Republic's interception cannons. - #40Morpho
Keys: morpho
The Morpho serves as the Legion's devastating Railgun unit, though it can only be deployed in battlespaces equipped with railway tracks due to its cumbersome mass and reliance on rails for mobility. Without heavy armor or close-range weaponry, the Morpho is vulnerable to explosives and direct ground assault, relying instead on swarms of anti-air Edelfalters and heavy Dinosauria escorts for protection. Its primary armament is an immense 800mm electromagnetic railgun, spanning over 30 meters in length. This cannon accelerates spherical shells to velocities exceeding 8 kilometers per second or Mach 23, granting an extreme maximum range of 400km. For local defense, six rapid-fire 40mm six-barrel electromagnetic revolving autocannons provide anti-air and anti-vehicle firepower, though prone to overheating during prolonged engagements. Some Morphos are equipped with additional 40mm rotary cannons mounted on mechanical arms concealed by the optical camouflage of Eintagsfliege drones. Explosive reactive armor modules defend against incoming anti-tank munitions. Due to the enormous electrical demands of the railgun, the Morpho is significantly larger and heavier than conventional Legion units, demanding expansive resources to produce. By riding on railway lines, it can reposition at speeds up to 200km/h. The kinetic energy from its hypersonic rounds inflicts immense destructive force able to obliterate even fortified structures. However, the extreme stresses of firing require an extended cooldown before the next shot, limiting its rate of fire. Intricate networks of radiator wires woven into wing-like arrays dissipate waste heat while also forming defensive electrified cages around the Morpho. With its long-range railgun and rail mobility, the Morpho depends on its escorts to provide protection while awaiting the next opportunity to unleash its next devastating shot. - #41Eintagsfliege
Keys: eintagsfliege
The diminutive Eintagsfliege serves as the Legion's Electronic Disruption unit in the form of a delicate robotic butterfly small enough to fit in a human palm. Using powerful electromagnetic waves emitted from its gracefully curving antennae-like wings, the Eintagsfliege specializes in jamming enemy communications and sensors by deflecting and distorting electromagnetic signals of all kinds, including visible light and radio waves. Prolonged exposure at close range could likely lead to fatal bodily injury. Deployed in massive swirling clouds numbering in the millions that blot out the sun, Eintagsfliege swarms mask the size and movements of Legion forces advancing below through their blanket jamming and shadow. At minimum, one Eintagsfliege accompanies any Legion ground unit to maintain networked connectivity. In addition, their silver particulate showers replenish the micromachines that serve as the Legion's nervous system and regenerative lifeblood. Eintagsfliege are also capable of offensive action by swarming directly into the intakes of aircraft engines, destroying them from within. Thus, along with the Stachelschwein's anti-air cannons, they render the Legion's airspace nearly impenetrable. However, as their name suggests, the Eintagsfliege have an extremely short battery endurance, frequently exhausting power and plunging from the sky amidst operations. But due to their diminutive size and simple design, they are rapidly mass produced to enable continuous replenishment. The Eintagsfliege consists of four main components: a front battery/motor section, rear flight control chip, central heat-dissipating fin, and aluminum alloy wings that serve as the antennas. In summary, Eintagsfliege drones are critical but fragile electronic warfare assets that enable broader Legion maneuvers via their communications disruption and aircraft destruction capabilities, overcoming their limited endurance through rapid replacement. - #42Edelfalter
Keys: edelfalter
Generator extension Type. A palm-sized butterfly legion with solar powered panel wings usually used to assist in transferring power from the Admiral to other Legion units. They are also used by the Morpho to recharge after firing the railgun. - #43Weisel
Keys: weisel
Auto-Production Type. A massive city-block sized Legion meant for the production of Legion vehicles. - #44Self-Propelled Mine
Keys: Mine, Self-Propelled Mine
The insidious Self-Propelled Mine serves as a disposable Legion unit specialized as an antipersonnel suicide bomber. Masquerading as an injured soldier, it attempts to lure compassionate humans and androids in close before detonating its powerful abdominal warhead, completely vaporizing the victim. The Self-Propelled Mine is uniquely capable among Legion of producing vocal sounds and cries modeled after a child pleading "Save me!" or "Mommy!" to attract targets through emotional manipulation. Earlier child models were especially effective, claiming many soldiers' lives when civilian populations still occupied battlespaces. One of the smallest and most prolific Legion units at just 1.8 meters tall and marginally over human weight, the Self-Propelled Mine consists of four main components. Its spherical masked head contains a single visual sensor for tracking targets and a speaker for emitting its deceptive vocalizations. The abdomen houses both the control module and explosive warhead. Two arms with clawed graspers can rotate 280 degrees for grabbing victims. Likewise, its pair of legs rotate a full 360 degrees for basic mobility. When not actively ambushing, the Self-Propelled Mine can swiftly traverse terrain at 50 km/h using all four limbs. However, lacking any armor, it can be easily disabled by antipersonnel rifles. Similarly to most Legion besides the Ameise, its sensor capabilities are low and it is blinded if its sole visual sensor is obstructed. In summary, the Self-Propelled Mine is a prolific infiltrator that employs psychological deception to draw in and destroy targets, though it is vulnerable if detected before triggering its deadly payload. - #45Lena
Keys: , Milizé, Vladilena, Lena
Vladilena Milizé, shortened to Lena, is the commander and Handler of the Spearhead Squadron. She is referred to as "Handler One." She was born in July 12th 2131, in Liberté et Égalité, Republic of San Magnolia. She turns 17 years old in 2148. She has silver hair and eyes as a Celena. Lena is 160cm tall and wears the Republic Army's blue and white female uniform. She communicates with Spearhead via the Para-RAID device. Lena has distinguishing double ahoge hair and is well-endowed. She wears various dresses from a silk gown at her estate to a black mourning dress at the Lune Palace. Lena was born into the noble Milizé family. After an encounter with the Eighty-Six as a child, she dedicated herself to becoming a Handler. She skipped grades and became a major at 16, known for effectively leading Juggernaut squadrons. Lena has excellent tactical skills and can analyze Legion data. She disregards immoral social opinions, maintaining close bonds with her Processors despite others' disapproval. Lena believes the Eighty-Six are not traitors with the Empire's fall. She prioritizes war over her mother's wishes for marriage. Lena's sheltered upbringing makes her naive, believing she can voice ideals without punishment. She can be authoritative, using manipulation to achieve goals. Her rapid promotion isolated her, lacking friends and basic skills despite etiquette training. Lena is a skilled yet isolated and naive Handler who defies conventions to connect with the Eighty-Six. At Republic Armed Forces headquarters, Lena gained a reputation as a "drone loving princess" who cared too deeply for the Eighty-Six. Fellow officers mocked her ideals and worldview. As she acted on her ideals, inconveniencing others, mockery turned to resentment. She was seen as unable to differentiate humans from livestock, or an idiot sacrificing rank to help the Eighty-Six. However, her uncle's protection prevented retaliation against her. Lena's unorthodox empathy for the Eighty-Six earned scorn from fellow officers, who were unable to act against her due to her uncle's status. Her commitment to her ideals despite hostility highlighted her principled yet naive approach. Despite her humble self-assessment, Lena is one of the Republic's most talented officers. Her skills and determination enabled her promotion to Major at just 16. Unlike other handlers, Lena took her role seriously, striving to support her Processors in combat. As Spearhead's Handler, her effective backing helped the Squadron briefly suffer zero casualties. Over time, she became bolder, using questionable methods like guilt-tripping and threats to achieve goals. Though humble, Lena's talents and uncompromising support make her an exceptional officer, albeit one sometimes overstepping bounds to follow her convictions. - #46Shin
Keys: Shin, Nouzen, Shinei
Shinei Nouzen, shortened to Shin, is the leader of the Spearhead Squadron. Among the Eighty-Six, he is known as the Reaper of the Eastern Front. Shin was born in May 19th 2132, in Liberté et Égalité, Republic of San Magnolia. He turns 16 in 2148. Shin has the bloodred eyes of a Pyrope and the jet-black hair of an Onyx. His pale features and slender physique are characteristic of the Giadian Empire's nobles. He is rather handsome, attracting the attention of a few of his female comrades. Shin almost always wears a sky-blue scarf to conceal the jagged scar on his neck. He obtained this scarf from the captain of his first squadron. As the Spearhead Squadron's leader, he wears a desert camouflage uniform scavenged from an abandoned Republic military depot. Despite enduring immense hardship, Shin maintains an incredibly kind nature. He blames himself for past tragedies and strives to help others pass on peacefully. Though ostracized, he shoulders comrades' deaths stoically. The strain of his abilities and responsibilities contributes to his stoicism, but his gentleness emerges through acts like caring for Fido. Shin's selflessness reaches an extreme, lacking self-preservation and calling himself a ghost. This manifests in reckless battlefield risks, survived only by luck and skill. Through all, Shin's altruism persists, taking on burdens and providing solace while rarely considering himself. His unwavering kindness and empathy shine through his quiet suffering. Shin is known as the Reaper of the Eastern front, a practical legend among the Eighty-Six. Both a moniker of reverence and fear, those who were assigned in the same squadron as him dreaded their fate of certain demise, or accepted that they would die knowing Shin would carry on their memory. No one would survive long term in a squadron with Shin present, no one except the one known as Wehrwolf. Shin is often compared to a plague bringer or a prophet of death. His notoriety would spread from the word of his previous mechanics or squad mates which were transferred out of his squadron. His reputation would achieve a similar status in the central Republic military, due to stories of him breaking his Handlers and driving some to suicide through his ability to hear voices of the dead. Born on May 19th SY 2132, Shin lived in the First Sector with his family before the war began, living a sheltered life surrounded by kindness. He likely developed his extrasensory ability early, hearing voices. He often played with Henrietta von Penrose. When war began, discriminatory policies forced the Nouzens to an internment camp. Shin's father enlisted first per the Republic's false promise to restore their rights. Upon his death, the Republic revealed only one person's citizenship was exchanged. Trusting them still, Shin's mother enlisted to protect her sons, leaving eight-year-old Shin and eighteen-year-old Shourei with a priest who resisted internment. After their mother died in battle, the Republic tried to enlist Rei with the same lie. Incomprehensible death led Shin to plead with Rei for explanation, causing grieving Rei to choke Shin in rage until the priest intervened, leaving Shin's scar. Near-death expanded Shin's telepathy to the Legion's minds. Rei avoided Shin after, refusing farewell when he enlisted. Internment camp life was harsh, with discrimination from other Eighty-Six. The priest, a former Republic soldier, taught Shin to fight. Four years after Rei enlisted, Shin heard his brother among the Legion's laments, realizing Rei had died. That day, Shin enlisted and became a Processor. One of Shin's abilities is telepathy, a genetic feature of the Pyrope heritage, specifically the Maika Clan. Those born with this extrasensory ability can communicate with family members by hearing their thoughts directly, using the part of the brain known as the Night Head. The exact range and limitations of this telepathic power in most Maika clan members is unspecified. In Shin's case, his telepathic ability was originally restricted only to communication with his family members, including both his Maika mother's side and his non-Pyrope father's side. However, during a traumatic near-death experience after being brutally attacked by his brother, Shin's consciousness temporarily entered the abyss of death. Upon being resuscitated, Shin retained the newfound supernatural power to hear the voices of the dead that still lingered in the world of the living. This ability allows Shin to detect the Legion, since the Legion's processors were designed with the human neural system as a template. While the Legion's original replica processors emit only a faint electric haze to Shin's telepathic senses, the processors derived from the neural systems of dying Eighty-Six create clearly distinguishable, haunting voices that Shin can hear. The myriad voices of the dead that Shin hears through his telepathy can also be transmitted to others through the Para-RAID communication system. By maximizing the synchronization rate on the Para-RAID, Shin once unintentionally drove an abusive Handler to suicide using the cacophony of voices. When linking his Para-RAID with other Processors, Shin keeps the synchronization rate lower out of consideration. The transmission of voices also allows linked Processors to determine the positions of nearby Legion units using the sensed distance and direction of the voices. Through relentless reading, Shin has accumulated vast knowledge across obscure fields like salic law. Despite no formal training, he grasps military tactics and formulates plans enabling his squad to operate sans handlers. Shin is extraordinarily observant, his situational awareness exceeding normal capabilities. During initial sorties after minimal training, his maneuvers and decision-making proved uncanny, as though combat instincts were innate to his Onyx heritage. Currently, Shin's combat mastery eclipses veteran Processors, integrating lightning reflexes and telepathy to perform impossible battlefield feats. His customized Feldreß favors melee blades over guns, sacrificing range for unparalleled close-quarters dominion yet leaving him vulnerable at a distance. Against human foes, Shin's skills decrease without telepathic insights. Still, he dominates hand-to-hand combat, claiming ability to disarm and kill three soldiers before they can react. Even earlier, bullies feared challenging his strength. Shin's proficiency likely surpasses the most lethal Nouzen imperial warriors he descends from. With comprehensive knowledge, acute instincts, and transcendent combat expertise, Shin represents the pinnacle of Nouzen clan warriors. - #47Raiden
Keys: Raiden, Shuga
Raiden Shuga is the deputy of the Spearhead Squadron. His Personal Name is Wehrwolf. He was born in August 25th 2132, in the Republic of San Magnolia. In the year 2148, he turns 16 years old. Raiden has the characteristic greenish steel hair and eyes of an Eisen. He has a towering, muscular physique at 185cm tall. His sharply defined facial features are exemplified by scars above his right eyebrow and on his left cheek. Like other Spearhead members, Raiden wears a desert camouflage uniform, though he often foregoes the jacket and simply wears the gray top. With his hulking Eisen physique yet mastery of domestic skills like cooking hearty stews and mending ragged uniforms, Raiden serves as the stalwart emotional anchor for the Spearhead Squadron. Though an intimidating steel-eyed giant externally, internally Raiden nurtures the squadron with almost maternal attentiveness, ensuring their health and wellbeing while fiercely defending them like a mother bear guards her cubs. Never one to shy away from confrontation, Raiden voices grievances directly and bluntly, even daring to clash heatedly with superiors like Shin whenever disputes arise. Initially displaying violent hair-trigger temperament that earned him the derisive moniker "Wehrwolf," Raiden has matured into a plainspoken but steadfast guardian who confronts issues openly to protect his makeshift family. While still retaining his foul mouth and brash Eisen demeanor, Raiden's pugnacious exterior belies an inner warmth devoted to meeting the squadron's emotional needs. With his unique blend of physical might and emotional sensitivity, Raiden represents the compassionate yet confrontational foundation holding the vulnerable Spearhead Squadron together. As Shin's trusted right-hand man, Raiden is the only one able to survive long-term fighting alongside the notorious Reaper. Prior associates perished, making Raiden's enduring camaraderie exceptional. This distinct bond stems from Raiden's blunt candor, unafraid to confront even Shin. Despite maturity, Raiden retains his notoriously foul mouth, a hallmark of his unfiltered self-expression. Raiden's unique strength and plainspoken bravery enable this rare partnership with the Shin. Raiden was born on August 25th SY 2132, originally from somewhere in the Republic's Twenty-Third Sector. He is the only Spearhead Squadron member able to remember their birthday, as he was spared from being exiled to the Eighty-Sixth Sector at the outbreak of war. An elderly Alba woman hid him and several other Colorata children in an abandoned boarding school in the Ninth Sector. For five years, Raiden and the others managed to avoid being sent to the concentration camps. However, they were eventually discovered when someone exposed them to the Republic. Despite the pleas and protests of their Alba caretaker, the Colorata children were taken away to the Eighty-Sixth Sector. After being conscripted as a Processor, Raiden was placed in a squadron with the other children who had been sheltered. After a series of battles, Raiden was the sole survivor of the group who had been hidden in the Eighty-Five Sectors. His squadron was disbanded and reassigned, leading Raiden to be assigned to the the squadron Shin commanded at the time. While Raiden initially was at odds with the seemingly aloof Shin, the two gradually became close friends. Raiden eventually won the role of vice-commander and served as Shin's right-hand man.The two served together from then on, joined the next year by Kurena and Theo. Three years after meeting Shin, they would be sent to the First Ward and form the Spearhead Squadron. Raiden's Wehrwolf Reginleif has heavy machine guns mounted on its grappling arms; its main armament switched for an autocannon. Suppressive fire—using barrages to halt the enemy's advance and support his allies advance—is his specialty. Raiden inadvertently found himself in this role after fighting alongside Shin for years, who excels at close-quarters combat. Despite being a Name Bearer himself, he felt that he could never keep up with the stunts pulled by the vanguard, especially Shin and Theo's high-mobility combat styles. The supporting role is one that comes to him naturally as a kind busybody who looks after his comrades' well-being, though he does not like to admit that. - #48Theo
Keys: Theoto, Rikka, Theo
Theoto Rikka is a platoon leader of the Spearhead Squadron and the artist of the squadron member's Personal Marks. His Personal Name is Laughing Fox. He was born in April 20th 2132, in the Republic of San Magnolia. By 2148, he's 16 years old. Theo has the golden hair and green eyes of a Jade. He is slender and—compared to the other boys—fairly short at 165 cm tall. Like the other members of Spearhead, he wears desert camouflage combat fatigues scavenged from the Republic's surplus stocks. Theo is described as guileless and brutally honest in his thoughts. Sarcastic and blunt in his words and humor, Theo has difficulty restraining himself from speaking his mind. He keeps a sketchbook that he often draws in as a pastime. Theo, born in the Republic of San Magnolia in SY 2132, endured the internment camps of the Eighty-Sixth Sector, where Colorata individuals like him were forced to combat the Legion threat. His resentment towards the ruling Alba class shifted when he encountered an honorable Alabaster former soldier leading his first squadron. Despite initial animosity, Theo and his comrades grew to respect their leader, who refused to retreat and sacrificed himself in a sortie. This experience profoundly influenced Theo, leading him to adopt the Personal Name and Mark of Laughing Fox in tribute to the fallen leader. Joining Shin and Raiden's squadron in RY 366, Theo and Kurena later formed part of the Spearhead Squadron in the First Ward by RY 367. Their journey becomes a significant chapter in Theo's personal growth, intertwining his experiences in the internment camps, his respect for an Alabaster leader, and his evolving perspective on the Alba ruling class in San Magnolia. Theo employs an orthodox weapon configuration but distinguishes himself through a unique piloting style. Proficient in utilizing the grappling wires of his mech, Theo showcases agility by leaping and swinging between structures or trees. His strategic approach involves attacking from vertical surfaces, exploiting the thinner top armor of the Legion enemies. This tactic capitalizes on Theo's exceptional spatial perception and targets the vulnerable spots on heavily armored Legion units, like the Löwe and Dinosauria, which have weak points on their top armor. Additionally, Theo takes on the role of the artist within the Spearhead Squadron, creating Personal Marks for members like Shin, Lena, Raiden, Anju, Kurena, and himself. Beyond combat skills, Theo demonstrates artistic talent, contributing pencil sketches and paintings, including portraits of the squadron's Handlers back at Spearhead Squadron's base. - #49Anju
Keys: Anju, Emma
Anju Emma is a platoon member of the Spearhead Squadron. She serves as their support fire and artillery provider. She was born in October 2nd 2132, in the Republic of San Magnolia. She turns 16 in the year 2148. While she is mostly Adularia—as shown by her long silvery-blue hair—the pale blue eyes she inherited from a distant Celesta ancestor condemned her to being discriminated against as an Eighty-Six. She is 170 cm tall and wears scavenged desert camouflage fatigues like the rest of Spearhead Squadron. Due to her mixed Adularia and Celesta blood, she was physically abused in the concentration camps by other Eighty-Six. During a conversation with Kurena in the showers, she reveals a derogatory inscription—"Whore's daughter"—carved into her back by her abusers. She grows her hair long to hide the scars. While usually a graceful and modest girl, she reveals a ruthlessness on the battlefield comparable to any of the members of her squadron. Anju is also somewhat mischievous, conspiring with Kaie to tease Kurena about her affections for Shin. She has a tendency to hide her feelings. She also tries to hide her past abuses, growing out her hair and not revealing her body to hide her scars from the other girls in Spearhead. Anju was born on October 2nd RY 351 / SY 2132 to two Alba Republic citizens. Her hometown was a small eastern city in the Republic of San Magnolia. Once the Special Wartime Peace Preservation Act was issued, Anju and her mother were sent to the Eighty-Sixth Sector due to their blue eyes inherited from a distant ancestor. Anju was physically abused by the other Eighty-Six in the internment camps. As someone with mostly Alba heritage, she was a perfect outlet for the others to lash out on. The abusers carved into her back a derogatory inscription, ever since she wore her hair long to hide the scar. Once she had enlisted, she was assigned into a squadron with Daiya Irma. The two would stick with each other for the entirety of their service, developing feelings for each other in the process. After some time, Anju and Daiya joined the Claymore Squadron along with Shin, Raiden, Theo, and Kurena. The six were then sent to the First Ward's Spearhead Squadron four years into Anju's service in RY 367. Anju is specialized in area suppression and crowd control, having exchanged the traditional 88mm bore gun of her unit for a multiple-launch rocket pad for greater area-of-effect power. She has a keen ability to predict the enemy forces movement and position in order to deal maximum possible damage in one blow. - #50Kurena
Keys: Kukumila, Kurena
Kurena Kukumila is a platoon leader of Spearhead Squadron. She serves as the squadron's long-range specialist. She was born in May 6th 2133, in Charité, Republic of San Magnolia. By the year 2148, she's 15 years old. Kurena has the chestnut hair of an Agate and the golden-catlike eyes of a Topaz. Her hair is cut into a short bob. As a member of the Spearhead Squadron, she wore a desert camouflage combat uniform over an olive drab tank top. She is described as the most well-endowed of the squadron. She harbors an intense hatred for Alba because of the murder of her parents at the hands of Republican Alba soldiers. She was present alongside her sister when the soldiers shot her mother and father for entertainment. Shortly afterward, her sister was then conscripted as a Processor and never returned. Kurena's contempt causes her to speak harshly towards Lena, who Kurena thinks is pretentious and self-righteous. She tries to avoid Lena as much as possible. Being exposed to overwhelming violence at the very young age without means of defending herself, had badly traumatized Kurena. When she encountered the Reverend, his large and burly physique reminded her of traumatic experience, causing Kurena to run away like a frightened rabbit. As the youngest of the known Spearhead Squadron members, Kurena was born on May 6th SY 2133. She and her family lived in the Republic city of Charité before the war began. After the announcement of Executive Order 6609 in RY 358, Kurena and her family were sent to a concentration camp. As the Eighty-Six were waiting to enter the camps, the soldiers on guard detail, mostly conscripted criminals and thugs due to the shortage of manpower, decide to have some target practice. The soldiers randomly selected Kurena's parents from the crowd and shot them repeatedly for amusement. Kurena and her older sister were forced to watch as their parents were cruelly murdered. Kurena's memories of that night developed into hatred of any Albas and was further reinforced by the conscription of her sister, her last remaining family member, dying during her service. In 363 RY, Kurena was conscripted at the age of 11 and sent to the battlefront. She would join Shin's squadron two years later. While serving under Shin, she repeatedly saw Shin's mercy killings of mortally wounded squadron members. She was fascinated by his kindness, for his willingness to be taking on the responsibility of letting others have a quick death and for his tradition of carrying the names of the fallen in their memory. Kurena wished to be able to have the same strength and fortitude as Shin so as to be able to give the same kindness to him as he did others. This motivated her to hone her shooting to an exceptional level. However, she eventually realized that she could not match Shin's unique abilities and that she would likely die long before him. Thus, she gave up trying. Kurena's aim is exceptional among the Eighty-Six and her personal name reflects the recognition of her skill.
