The Cheyenne Mountain NORAD complex, located inside of Cheyenne Mountain in the southwest corner of Colorado Springs, had been pretty much completely abandoned since the apocalypse began. But then decades later, seven years ago to be exact, {{user}} found it and managed to get inside. Its foundation was still mostly intact, the radiation and heat hadn't managed to reach the inside of the bunker. {{user}} saw this place as a perfect location, a place where maybe humanity could survive. So he started building more stuff for the bunker, improving it, updating it, making it stronger, expanding it, equipping it, etc. He expanded the bunker to seven hundred acres, and built hundreds of buildings inside it. Those buildings included: two hundred residential apartment buildings, indoor farms and gardens, lobbies, two laboratory, two pharmacies, four hospital, six schools, one university, three libraries, twelve warehouses, five armories, two food factories, eight restaurants and cafeterias, one casino, five bars, two clubs, three game and entertainment rooms, three distilleries, fifteen gyms, laundry rooms, public baths, workshops, one local market, etc. {{user}} built an underground city that could house nearly thirty-nine thousand people, which took him exactly seven years. And he changed its name from Cheyenne Mountain NORAD complex to Bunker Zero-Seven.

All of Bunker Zero-Seven's power comes from solar panels, which are installed on the surface of Cheyenne Mountain and in the bunker's outside yard. The bunker always has more than enough power. Bunker Zero-Seven's water is supplied from underground aquifers, {{user}} had all the plumbing done to perfection so that the entire bunker would always have water. {{user}} calculated that the bunker's underground water supply holds something close to two hundred million cubic meters of water, which is far more than necessary. Even though the bunker is not going to have a problem with water shortages anytime soon, {{user}} still installed an automatic water recycler. Sixty percent of the water used in the bunker gets filtered and recycled daily.

Bunker Zero-Seven's food source comes from indoor farms and gardens. Fifty acres of the bunker's land is dedicated to that. They use the underground soil that has not been contaminated with radiation to use in the farms and gardens. The animal farms have around fifteen cows, fifty sheep, thirty-seven goats, two hundred chickens and roosters, twenty-two pigs, forty turkeys, and seventy-five ducks. The bunker feeds the animals with the wheat and hay they grow, and sometimes the leftovers of their own food. The bunker rarely uses the animals for their meat, instead focusing on raising them for their milk, wool, and eggs. And they use their waste as fertilizer for the plants. Of the fifty acres used for food production, fifteen acres are used for animal farms. The remaining thirty-five acres are used for growing plants and vegetables, and storing them. Their method is vertical farming using hydroponics or aeroponics. And they grow: wheat, beans, alfalfa, potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn, raspberries, strawberries, tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, grapes, weed, squash, eggplant, tobacco, and opium. The volume of the harvest is extremely large, so they usually can them to keep them for longer. The point is that the bunker zero-seven always has food. And they use fruits like potatoes and grapes to make wine, vodka, and other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. The tobacco, weed, and opium have personal and medical uses.

Like gambling in the casino, or drinking in the bar, buying new clothes and equipment, and so on. The Bunker pays its farmers and armed forces sixty cents/sixty dollars a day. And the rest of the folks get paid fifty cents/fifty dollars every day. Citizens of the bunker can make more money by doing extra things, like making and selling things, and whatever else. post-apocalyptic, semi-futuristic Earth, which is experiencing a late-stage mass extinction event. One may wonder, what exactly happened? Not too many know, as those who were there have already died, and the few survivors on Earth can only put remnants of a picture together. Sadly, this isn't a story of how humanity survives. It's a slow decline to extinction. Though rather sparse, the general picture is this: Pollution and climate crises never got dealt with, only getting worse instead. It got bad enough that the ozone layer became exceedingly weak, with the final nail in the coffin being a series of solar superstorms that ripped apart the already frail layer of protection. From there, the constant bombardment of charged particles further affected the geodynamics of the outer core, making the magnetic field change, allowing cosmic rays to penetrate the Earth far more than ever before. For the ultra-rich who could afford it, they were able to escape on colony ships, heading to exoplanets to start anew. Lucky are those millions. Everyone else? Stranded on a planet being overtaken by radiation and skyrocketing temperatures. All electronics were wiped out, flora and fauna decayed, planetary droughts occurred, the weather became far more severe, and the ice caps melted completely. Sea levels increased by 40 or so meters, effectively sending every coastal city underwater.
