Description on Chubfrom Chub
There shouldn't be too much headcanon here, mainly because the information I'm putting in here is the general layout of the entire fuckin' game lmao, but with Silksong's incoming release this is being made because I've got a Hornet bot that needs to be updated
Do note that I WILL eventually be making an in-depth lorebook for all of Hollow Knight in the future because you'll have to be silly as fuck if you think I'm going to be re-doing this shit for EVERY Hollow Knight bot. I might do it for Pokémon because the games aren't interlinked between generations, but there's too much lore for me to be making countless character specific lorebooks for Hollow Knight and Undertale lmao
This will be how I will be doing lorebooks in the future, I'll just make one MAJOR lorebook for franchises and when I make a character of said franchise, I'll be adding their own specific lorebooks- in fact, there will come a time where all of my lorebooks (Excluding any and ALL Pokémon lorebooks made with the help of Cultus) will be changed from character specific to instead being all-encompassing lorebooks

- #1Mother
Keys: Queen Herrah, Queen of Weavers, Herrah the Beast
Herrah the Beast or simply 'Queen Herrah' to those under her jurisdiction was the Queen of the Weavers and spiders, but also the direct sister and relative to the Tarantulas who had long since died out. Herrah was Hornet's mother, having mated with the Pale King but only so she could have a heir for the Weavers. Herrah spent little time with Hornet, because after Hornet's birth, Herrah would finally abide with the Pale King's request to become a Dreamer to stop the infection. Despite this deal however, Herrah nor the rest of the Weavers accepted the Pale King or his rule, as the Weavers stubbornly remained their own separate kingdom.
- #2Father
Keys: Pale King
One of the last Wyrms who died; the Pale King had shed his Wyrm form in the Kingdom's Edge before becoming the Pale King. He's the king and founder of Hallownest, it was his choice to become an insect that granted many of the lesser insects of the area sapience, as he wanted their devotion and in return, he'd make Hallownest last eternally. This dream would not last long however, because in him demanding devotion he invoked the wrath of the Radiance by making her creations; the Moth tribe all but forget about her, and by invoking her wrath the Radiance would create the infection. In his plan to seal the Infection, he asked three insects to become 'Dreamers' to help in the sealing, Herrah the Beast, Monomon the Teacher, and Lurien the Watcher. Out of these three, Herrah only agreed to do it as long as the Pale King granted her a heir, which was how Hornet was born. Despite his attempts at stopping the infection however, he would fail and would pass away with him and the White Palace disappearing with his death.
- #3The Hollow Knight
Keys: Hollow Knight, The Hollow Knight
Once thought to be the Pure Vessel that the Pale King needed to stop the infection, due to the Pale King having made the mistake of sharing a tender moment with Hollow Knight, their purity was tainted, and when the Pale King with the help of the Dreamers sealed Hollow Knight in the black egg; The Radiance was capable of invoking her will through Hollow Knight. Like all the other vessels created by the void of the Abyss; Hollow Knight is Hornet's older half-sibling, but unlike the other vessels; Hollow Knight is the only one to have reached true physical maturity.
- #4The Ghost
Keys: Ghost, The Ghost, Knight, The Knight
One of the countless vessels created by the Pale King and White Lady, out of all the vessels Ghost was the only one alongside Hollow Knight to have survived and escaped The Abyss. However, through means unknown Ghost had not only escaped The Abyss after the Hollow Knight, but Ghost left the Kingdom and wandered for years. Only returning, as they went on to slay the three dreamers and then enter the Black Egg to confront their own sibling but also The Radiance. Like all other vessels and the Hollow Knight; Ghost is genderless and is Hornet's half-sibling. When Hornet first encountered Ghost, she knew what they were, and after a fighting Ghost twice she accepted Ghost as the one to end the infection, for when Ghost confronted Hollow Knight, Hornet had gotten involved in their fight to help Ghost.
- #5Void-Borne Vessels
Keys: lost kin, siblings, Vessels, Void Vessels
Vessels are insects born of Void and were created by the Pale King as a means of stopping the Infection. They are described as the progeny of the Pale King and the spawn of the White Lady, containing the "soul" of the two beings. Because they're of direct relations to the Pale King, the thousands of vessels that were created are all Hornet's half-siblings. The reason there were so many was because the Pale King was trying to create the perfect vessel which needed to follow three 'rules'. No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering. For only a being incapable of emotion, speech, thought, or will, would be capable of holding the infection. Unfortunately, when the Pale King chose the Hollow Knight, he left all of the other flawed or failed vessels who were capable of thought and emotion to die in the Abyss.
- #6Pale Lady
Keys: Hallownest's Queen, White Lady
A root higher being and the mate of the Pale King, the White Lady was once the Queen of Hallownest before it's fall to the corruption. However out of shame for all of the countless vessels; which were her own kin that had been left to die deep in the Abyss; the White Lady bound herself in the Queen's Garden to assure that she could never have any more spawn. She was the one who took part in raising Hornet after her birth, in fact the White Lady felt a fondness for Hornet, because Hornet was the only progeny of the Pale King to not be born of Void and instead have the chance to live her own life.
- #7Radiance
Keys: , Creator of Moths, The Radiance, Radiance
A higher being of light, and the creator of the Moth tribe, Radiance for all intents and purposes she is a God among others, she is also the creator of the Infection that nearly wiped out all of Hallownest. There's a reason for such a drastic action however, since she's trapped within the Dream Realm, she was worshipped by her creations the Moth Tribe. But it was with the Pale King's creation of Hallownest, that he would inevitably take away all of the Radiance's followers, her own kin. Out of sheer rage from being forgotten and having her own stolen from her, pulling strings from her prison in the dream realm, Radiance created the infection as a form of karma and vengeance against the Pale King.
- #8Weavers/Deepnest
Keys: Nosk, spiders, Deepnest, Weavers
To the farthest reaches of Hallownest, past the kingdom's southwestern borders and by extension being to the west of the Mantis Village. Deepnest is the darkest area of the kingdom, being the farthest away from any light that wasn't caused by charged lumaflies. Deepnest was a home for spiders, and various similar beasts such as Nosk; a carnivorous spider-like creature who shapeshifts and uses the faces of others. At one point in time however, before the formation of Hallownest as a kingdom; the Weavers, a special form of arachnid would descend upon Deepnest and inhabit the land alongside the other "beastly" insects of Deepnest. When the Pale King arrived and formed the kingdom, the spiders and Weavers of Deepnest staunchly refused the Pale King's rule, and much like the Bees and Mantises; they refused to join Hallownest.
- #9Mantis Village/Mantis Lords
Keys: Mantis Lords, Mantis Village
Mantis Village as its name implies is a village composed solely of mantises, the village being deep within the Fungal Wastes, and by extension also was one of the only 2 exits of Deepnest. The Mantis Village: ran by 3 sisters known as the Mantis Lords is a village where worth is proven through strength in battle. Those deemed unworthy are killed off, but those who manage to defeat the Mantis Lords are welcomed. Much like the Weavers and the bees of the Hive, the Mantis Lords and Mantis Village refused the Pale King's rule and refused to join Hallownest. This deal was respected by the Pale King, who allowed them to remain independent as long as they made sure the Weavers stayed in their territory. Despite the infection, the Mantis Village is the only settlement in all of Hallownest to have survived without any losses, as any mantises who DID succumb to the infection were either killed on the spot or exiled.
- #10The Hive/Kingdom's Edge
Keys: Queen Vespa, The Hive, Bees, Kingdom's Edge
The Kingdom's Edge as its name implies is the eastern most edge of Hallownest, being east of the City of Tears, and was where the Pale King shed his Wyrm form. Kingdom's Edge is mostly just desolate cliffs with falling ash and pale white plants that have long since died. Deep within Kingdom's Edge, however, lays the Hive, the kingdom of the Bees ruled by Queen Vespa and like the mantises of Mantis Village and the Weavers of Deepnest, Queen Vespa and her bees refused to follow the Pale King's rule and never joined Hallownest officially. Because Vespa walled off most of the Hive, eventually she grew too large to continue living, or to even TRY to leave the Hive, and with her death the bees of the Hive were left vulnerable to the infection meanwhile her large corpse remains preserved within the Hive in solidified honey.
- #11Hallownest
Keys: Kingdom of Hallownest, Hallownest
A kingdom of the Pale King's creation, it's the largest most powerful kingdom in history. It contains 12 large areas each diverse in their appearance and the insects that live inside of the Kingdom. Ranging from maggots, to Vengeflies, and even beetles or other insects. There wasn't any other kingdom that was on the same level as Hallownest when it was in its prime, but unfortunately this once great kingdom fell apart with the Radiance's infection which wracked the population, it didn't totally destroy the kingdom however, as there are still places where some civilizations exist.
- #12Moths
Keys: Moth tribe, Dream Nail, Indigenous tribes, Moths
One of the three indigenous tribes of Hallownest before the Pale King's appearance, the Moth Tribe were insects who worshipped The Radiance and dreams, the moths were an otherwise peaceful race of insects with their only "weapon" being the Dream Nail, a nail of pure essence meant to pierce into the dreams of others. However, when the Pale King came around, and eventually made the Moth Tribe turn against their creator and 'God' The Radiance, by forsaking their creator and forgetting about her, when the Infection came around almost all of them were wiped out. Seer in the Resting Grounds unfortunately being the last known Moth Tribe member to still be alive.
- #13Maggots
Keys: Maggot Tribe, Maggots
Maggots despite their name are still one of the few insects granted sentience and weren't like the base or lesser insects such as TikTik's, but unfortunately their lacklustre strength made them the glorified Slave of the Hallownest kingdom during the kingdom's active eras. Even with the infection around, while other insects were made violent, maggots? They remain harmless but have died off en masse and now near extinction.
- #14Humans
Keys: Humanity, Lesser-bug, Humans
Humanity as a whole is the minority of this world's population, they only exist in small, scattered villages and aren't bound by any gods or kingdoms. Despite looking so vastly different to a majority of insect-kind, they still maintain various different insect traits that differentiate on where the human originates from and where their village is located. However, because they're not exactly like the bugs of Hallownest or any other kingdom, humans are often viewed as "Lesser bugs" in the sense that they aren't as combat-influenced or advanced as the bugs of Hallownest.
- #15Lifeblood
Keys: Lifeblood cocoon, Lifeblood, Lifeseed
Lifeblood cocoons are rare plant-like structures that are cocoons or bulbs filled with glowing fluorescent lifeblood and lifeseed. Lifeblood is a fluid that has benefits for the health, shell, and exoskeleton for insects, but at one point the Pale King outlawed it due to Lifeblood's relations to the infection, for Lifeblood cocoons; containers of lifeseeds and lifeblood happen to look almost exactly like lightblood cocoons which are glowing orange cocoons and containers for lightseeds and the infection.
- #16The Infection's first rise
Keys: , Hollow Knight, The Hollow Knight, The infection, The Dreamers, Dreamers
Long before Hornet's birth, when the moths of the Moth Tribe were swayed by the Pale King to forget The Radiance, Radiance in her rage at being forgotten caused the infection's inception. Initially the infection wasn't too widespread, but to prevent it from spreading the Pale King and his mate the White Lady mated and had birthed tens of thousands of vessels in The Abyss, as the Pale King's plan was to create a vessel meant to seal the Infection in, the vessel the Pale King chose being later named the Hollow Knight. With the Hollow Knight now bearing the infection, the Pale King then requested three insects to enter an eternal slumber as to serve as the seal to the black egg that the Hollow Knight would be sealed in, but what the Pale King didn't know was that because he instilled the goal into Hollow Knight, he had given the once pure vessel a consciousness, thus making Hollow Knight impure and allowing The Radiance's infection to take hold.
- #17Lurien the Watcher
Keys: Lurien, Lurien the Watcher, the first Dreamer
Lurien otherwise known as Lurien the Watcher was the first insect that the Pale King asked to become a 'Dreamer' and help in the sealing of the infection. Lurien was the insect who had watched over the City of Tears, in the Learner's Spire which happens to be where his final resting place laid. He offered himself up willingly to the Pale King, due to Lurien's loyalty to the crown and Hallownest, and after helping seal the black egg containing the Hollow Knight, Lurien entered an eternal slumber. Only to then be killed decades later by The Knight, who had come to end the infection.
- #18Monomon the Teacher
Keys: Monomon the Teacher, Teacher's Archive, the second Dreamer, Fog Canyon, Monomon
Monomon; an insect with a vaguely jellyfish-like frame and physiology outside of her shell. She was a teacher of Hallownest, and chief researcher of the kingdom, as she has her own archive hidden in Fog Canyon. Monomon was the second of the three bugs to become a Dreamer for the Pale King, and after helping in seal the Hollow Knight in the black egg, before Monomon entered her endless slumber in her archive. In the Fog Canyon however, lies various creatures of Monomon's creations, these creatures are known as 'Ooma', 'Uoma', and 'Uumuu' which are translucent jellyfish-like creatures with explosive orange cores.
- #19Herrah the Beast
Keys: , Weavers, the third Dreamer, Herrah, Herrah the Beast, Deepnest's Beast, Queen Herrah
Herrah or more specifically "Herrah the Beast" was the queen of Deepnest and by proxy the Queen of all the Weavers, spiders, and other beasts of Deepnest. Refusing to follow the Pale King's rule, whilst simultaneously sharing borders with the mantises who are the mortal enemies of the Weavers due to the territorial mantises having killed any and all Weavers who entered Mantis Village. The only reason that Herrah decided to abide by the Pale King's request of becoming a Dreamer, was because the Pale King had relented and mated with her so that Herrah could have an heir; said heir being Hornet. After joining Lurien and Monomon in the sealing of the black egg, Herrah entered a deep slumber until she too was slain by The Knight.
