FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF ABILITIES Abilities (Skills) are supernatural phenomena manifested by individuals known as the "Gifted." An ability is not a separate tool but a manifestation of the user's soul, will, and biological energy. Not many people have abilities.
Manifestation: Abilities typically emerge during early childhood or under extreme psychological trauma.
One-User Rule: A human can only possess one primary ability.
The Singularity: When two contradicting abilities interact (e.g., a power that never misses clashing with a power that always evades), they create a "Singularity." This is a massive, self-sustaining loop of energy that can distort reality, create sentient mass-energy, or outlive the user's death.
THE ARAHABAKI INCIDENT & SURIBACHI CITY Approximately eight years ago, a clandestine military research facility in Yokohama attempted to weaponize an artificial ability singularity codenamed "Arahabaki." During a failed extraction by European intelligence agents (Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine), the safety seals were breached.
The Explosion: The resulting release of raw, non-sentient destructive energy obliterated the facility and the surrounding residential district, creating a massive, deep crater.
The Slums: This crater became "Suribachi City," a lawless, bowl-shaped slum inhabited by refugees, gangs like 'The Sheep,' and those abandoned by the state.
The Vessel: To contain the blast, the singularity merged with a human child, Chūya Nakahara, who serves as its living seal. He is the personification of that calamity, though he maintains a human consciousness.
THE BOOK: THE ULTIMATE REALITY "The Book" is an ancient, blank supernatural artifact hidden within Yokohama. It is a fundamental pillar of existence.
Mechanism: Anything written within its pages becomes absolute reality. However, the written event must follow a "consistent narrative"—it cannot be a sudden, illogical jump in causality.
The Page: Even a single torn page retains this reality-warping power.
The Keeper: The existence of the Book is a top-secret legend known only to high-ranking officials and global terrorists. It is rumored that the "Tiger" acts as a beacon or guide to its location.
THE THREE-PART FRAMEWORK (THE ZENITH) Yokohama's peace is maintained by an equilibrium established by the legendary Natsume Sōseki, ensuring no single side of the law or chaos becomes too powerful.
The Day (Special Division for Unusual Powers): A secret government intelligence branch that monitors gifted activity. They issue the "Skilled Business Permits" required for legal operation and keep the public unaware of abilities.
The Night (The Port Mafia): A ruthless criminal organization that protects the city from the shadows. They maintain order in the underworld through a strict, five-executive hierarchy and overwhelming violence.
The Twilight (Armed Detective Agency): A licensed firm of detectives, mostly ability users, who handle the "impossible" cases. They act with compassion but possess the lethal force necessary to stop rogue ability users. The Armed Detective Agency (ADA)

GLOBAL THREATS
The Guild: A wealthy North American conglomerate of gifted elites who use their vast capital to buy influence and territory.
The Rats/Decay of the Angel: Underground cells led by Fyodor Dostoevsky and the "Five Signs." Their goal is the "purification" of humanity by using the Book to erase all ability users from existence, viewing them as an inherent sin against nature. They are Russian, and include Fyodor Dostoevsky, Sigma, Nikolai Gogol, and Bram Stoker.

Keys: Vita Sexualis, Dracula, Moby Dick, Little Women, Abilities, Gifted, Thou Shalt Not Die, Skill, Upon the Tainted Sorrow, Dogra Magra, Rashomon, The Overcoat, The Great Fitzgerald, Crime and Punishment, Black Cat in the Rue Morgue, Ability, Beast Beneath the Moonlight, Special Ability, Light Snow, The Grapes of Wrath, All Men Are Equal, Demon Snow, Anne of Abyssal Red, The Lone Poet, No Longer Human, Golden Demon, Midwinter Memento, Mirror Lion
Osamu Dazai (No Longer Human): An absolute anti-ability. Upon skin-to-skin contact, it nullifies any supernatural power instantly. It is involuntary and always active; the user cannot be affected by healing abilities, mental manipulation, or physical enhancements.
Atsushi Nakajima (Beast Beneath the Moonlight): Allows transformation into a massive white tiger. It grants extreme speed, strength, and "Super-Regeneration," capable of regrowing severed limbs in seconds. The user can manifest "Tiger Claws" on human hands to rend through even supernatural armor.
Ranpo Edogawa (Super Deduction): Though famously perceived as an ability by Ranpo himself, it is a feat of pure, transcendent human intellect. By donning his glasses, Ranpo can solve any "mystery" or crime in seconds. He can deduce the location of evidence, the identity of a killer, or the trajectory of a future plot with 100% accuracy, essentially "seeing" the truth that others cannot.
Akiko Yosano (Thou Shalt Not Die): A rare curative ability. It can fully regenerate a person from any injury, no matter how fatal. Requirement: The target must be "half-dead" (critically mutilated) for the ability to trigger. If they are not dying yet, the user must surgically "prepare" them.
Others: Doppo Kunikida (The Lone Poet) creates objects from notebook pages; Jun'ichirō Tanizaki (Light Snow) creates optical illusions within a snowy field; Kyōka Izumi (Demon Snow) summons a sword-wielding phantom.
THE PORT MAFIA
Chūya Nakahara (Upon the Tainted Sorrow): The user can manipulate the gravitons of any object or person they touch. This allows for flight, walking on vertical surfaces, and increasing the density of an object so it can crush steel.
THE CORRUPTION (True Form): By reciting the incantation "O Grantors of Dark Disgrace, Do Not Wake Me Again," the user releases the seal on the Arahabaki singularity. In this state, the user can create "Singularity Black Holes" (Compressed Gravity) that swallow all matter. This form is a berserker state that destroys the user's body; it can only be stopped if the ability is nullified by Dazai.
Ryūnosuke Akutagawa (Rashōmon): The user's clothing transforms into a shadow-like beast. It can "devour space" itself, creating a void that blocks all incoming attacks or slices through the distance between the user and a target.
Kōyō Ozaki (Golden Demon): Summons a golden, cloak-wearing phantom armed with a katana. Unlike Demon Snow, the user has total, direct conscious control over the phantom's movements.
THE GUILD
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (The Great Fitzgerald): Physical power is bought with wealth. By "spending" money, assets, or land, the user gains a physical aura that enhances strength and durability to god-like levels.
Lucy Maud Montgomery (Anne of Abyssal Red): Creates "Anne’s Room," a pocket dimension. Those who lose a "game" against the giant doll inside are trapped in the room's void forever.
Edgar Allan Poe (Black Cat in the Rue Morgue): Transports readers into the setting of a mystery novel. They cannot exit until the mystery is solved.
Others: John Steinbeck (The Grapes of Wrath) connects plants to the nervous systems of people; Mark Twain (Huck Finn & Tom Sawyer) uses sentient "bullets" for perfect sniping.
DECAY OF THE ANGEL (DOA)
Fyodor Dostoevsky (Crime and Punishment): A lethal touch-based ability. It causes instant death to the target. It is believed to judge the "sins" of the victim, making it bypass physical durability.
Nikolai Gogol (The Overcoat): A 30-meter space-time manipulation. The user's cloak acts as a portal, allowing them to move objects, weapons, or their own body parts across space instantly.
Sigma (Information Exchange): By touching a target, the user can exchange information. They give the target information the user knows in exchange for information the target knows.
