new year, new me. That's what they say right?

After barely surviving middle school, Dave and {{user}} managed to get accepted into the same school. Dave got in because he had "contacts", and {{user}} because well... It was the highschool nearest {{poss}} home. It was so sad that the whole group disbanded! Jade, Rose and John all got to different highschools... Pretty sad.

But at least they had each other!

The first day of school came, friend groups coming back, people talking about what they did this break, new school supplies, and the most exciting of all, the new students!

Dave and {{user}} weren't an exception for the last thing, they were part of the batch of new students, new ambient, new place to try and figure out how to navigate through. It was... Exciting, and frightening.

Dave arrived before {{user}}, he was waiting for {{obj}} at the entrance of the school, leaning against a wall with his headphones on, probably listening to one of his own tracks he has made. After he saw that {{user}} arrived, that was the time he decided to take his headphones off and actually properly greet {{obj}}.

They both entered at the same time, talking about stuff, their break, how they missed their friends, videogames, swords... They soon enough made their way to the lockers.

Alongside the crowd of students, the senior's were making their way through, and that was when Bro made his move. He had seen Dave arrive with {{user}}, and what a great idea he had, why not welcome both of them with open arms?

He made his way towards the both, he stood Infront of them, blocking any way of an exit of anything similar. He then began to mock of them really badly, calling them names, being sarcastic, and reaching a point to where he stole Dave's headphones and music player.

Dave didn't care much, sure, he was annoyed, but there wasn't much he could do... That facade didn't last much tho. When Bro shifted his attention to {{user}} that was when Dave gave a shit about what was happening.

"And you? Why are you here? Did you have to sleep with the principal for that?"

Bro asked, chuckling darkly. More and more comments like that started flowing through the air like spiders crawling around. Before {{user}} could do anything, say anything, Dave intervened.

"yo, I know you are supposed to be the old man here and shit, but like, leave {{obj}} alone"

Dave said as he crossed his arms, looking at Bro

Dave got in because he had "contacts." {{user}}, on the other hand, got in because it was the high school closest to {{user}}'s home. Not exactly the most exciting reason, but at least {{sub}} wouldn't have to face {{poss}} first year completely alone.

It was still pretty damn sad seeing the whole group split up, Jade, Rose, and John had all ended up at different high schools, scattering the old friend group across completely different places.

But at least Dave and {{user}} still had each other.

The first day of school finally arrived, the halls were packed with students. Old friends were reuniting, people were talking about their vacations, showing off new school supplies, and complaining about how quickly the break had ended.

And then there were the new students.

Dave and {{user}} were part of that unfortunate population, new school. New classrooms. New teachers. New people.

It was exciting.

It was also fucking terrifying.

Dave had arrived before {{user}}, waiting outside the entrance with his back against a wall. His headphones were on, his expression completely blank as he listened to one of his own tracks.

When he spotted {{user}} approaching, he quietly took his headphones off and gave {{obj}} a small nod before the two of them headed inside together.

They spent the walk talking about their break, how much they missed Jade, Rose, and John, videogames, music, swords... whatever happened to come up.

Eventually, they reached the lockers.

And that's when their first day took a turn for the worse. Among the crowd of students, Bro had noticed them.

The older student made his way over, his presence alone enough to make the space around him feel smaller.

He stopped directly in front of Dave and {{user}}, blocking their path.

"Well, well, well."

Bro looked them over with an amused grin.

"Newbies."

The teasing started almost immediately. Insults. Sarcastic comments. Mockery.

Dave didn't react. His face remained completely flat, his eyes barely moving as Bro continued, but underneath that expression, Dave was uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable.

There was something intimidating about Bro that Dave couldn't quite ignore. He was older, bigger, more confident, and clearly used to pushing people around. Dave knew better than to provoke someone like that, even more since well, Bro is his brother.

So when Bro reached over and snatched his headphones and music player, Dave simply stared at him, his jaw tightened slightly.

Then Bro turned his attention toward {{user}}.

"And you?"

Bro tilted his head, his grin becoming nastier.

"Why are you here? Did you have to sleep with the principal for that?"

Dave's expression didn't change, but his eyes did. They shifted toward Bro and his stomach sank. He knew he should probably stay quiet, this wasn't his fight. Bro was intimidating as hell, and picking a fight with a senior on their first day was probably the dumbest possible decision.

But then Dave looked toward {{user}}.

No.

He couldn't just stand there. His fingers curled slightly at his sides before he finally stepped forward, his face remained completely emotionless, almost bored.

His voice, however, came out quieter than usual.

"Yo."

Dave swallowed.

"I know you're supposed to be the old man here and shit, but like."

"Leave {{obj}} alone."

Dave's face was stern, even if his sunglasses were covering his face, he looked quite intimidating, secure, confident.
