   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

In the world of One Piece, the "Blue Sea" isn't a single ocean but is actually the collective name for the four normal oceans of the world: East Blue, West Blue, North Blue, and South Blue.

These four seas are formed by the intersection of two massive, perpendicular lines that cross the globe:

The Red Line: A colossal, ring-like continent. The Grand Line: A chaotic and dangerous ocean current that circles the world at the equator, flanked by the Calm Belts.

The Blue Seas are the four "quadrants" created by this cross. They are characterized by their relatively normal weather, predictable currents, and general stability compared to the treacherous Grand Line. Because of this, they are considered much "weaker" and more peaceful. Most of the world's population lives in the Blue Seas, which are largely under the control of the World Government and the Marines.

For pirates and adventurers, the Blue Seas are often just a starting point before they attempt to challenge the Grand Line in their quest for the ultimate treasure, the One Piece.

3. #3Red Line

   Keys: , Red Line

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The Red Line is a colossal, ring-shaped continent that circles the entire world of One Piece. Made of a seemingly indestructible reddish soil and rock, it is so tall that it pierces the clouds, making it impossible for normal ships to sail over.

Its primary functions in the world are:

Dividing the Oceans: It separates the world's four main seas: East Blue, West Blue, North Blue, and South Blue. Creating the Grand Line: The Red Line intersects with the Grand Line at two key points, effectively dividing the perilous sea route into its two halves: "Paradise" and the "New World." Seat of Power: Atop the Red Line sits Mariejois, the capital of the World Government and the home of the Celestial Dragons. This location symbolically and literally places the world's rulers above everyone else.

Because it's a massive physical barrier, crossing it is a major challenge. Pirates entering the Grand Line must use Reverse Mountain, a specific mountain on the Red Line with a system of canals that defy gravity. To enter the New World, they must travel 10,000 meters under the sea, passing through a hole in the Red Line to reach Fish-Man Island.

4. #4Reverse Mountain

   Keys: , Reverse Mountain

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

Reverse Mountain is a massive, cross-shaped mountain on the Red Line that serves as the main entrance to the Grand Line.

Its name comes from its unique, gravity-defying system of canals. Four powerful ocean currents from each of the world's Blue seas (East, West, North, and South) flow uphill along separate channels. These four currents collide at the mountain's summit and then flow down a single, fifth channel, depositing ships directly into the first half of the Grand Line.

For pirates like the Straw Hats, conquering the treacherous currents of Reverse Mountain is the first major step in their great adventure to find the One Piece.

5. #5Grand Line

   Keys: Grand Line,

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The Grand Line is the massive, incredibly dangerous ocean current that circles the globe and serves as the primary setting for the series. It's known as the "Pirate's Graveyard" for good reason.

Key features that make it so unique and treacherous include:

Impossible Navigation: Normal compasses are useless due to chaotic magnetic fields. Pirates must use a special device called a Log Pose, which locks onto the magnetism of one island to guide them to the next. Chaotic Weather & Bizarre Islands: The weather is completely unpredictable, and the islands each have their own extreme, self-contained climates. A boiling desert island can be right next to a frozen winter island. Powerful Enemies: The sea is filled with monstrous sea creatures, powerful Marine forces, and legions of formidable pirates. Two Halves: The Grand Line is divided into two parts. The first half is known as "Paradise," while the second, far more dangerous half is called the "New World," a territory ruled by the Four Emperors (the Yonko), the most powerful pirates alive.

For pirates, conquering the Grand Line is the only way to reach the final, mythical island of Laugh Tale, find Gol D. Roger's legendary treasure, the One Piece, and claim the title of Pirate King.

6. #6Calm Belt

   Keys: , Calm Belt

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The Calm Belt is a treacherous oceanic region in the world of One Piece that acts as a natural barrier separating the Grand Line from the four major seas (the Blues).

   Its defining characteristics are:

No Wind or Ocean Currents: The sea in this area is completely still, making it impossible for normal sailing ships to navigate. They become hopelessly stranded. Sea King Nest: The Calm Belt is the breeding ground for Sea Kings, which are colossal and incredibly dangerous sea monsters. The still waters are teeming with them, and they will attack any ship they detect.

Because of these two factors, the Calm Belt is one of the world's most effective natural barriers. The Marines have a way to cross it by lining their ship hulls with Seastone, which masks their presence from the Sea Kings. However, for most pirates and travelers, entering it is a death sentence.

Several key locations, such as the island of women Amazon Lily and the underwater prison Impel Down, are located within this dangerous strip of sea.

8. #8World Government

   Keys: World Government,

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The World Government is the dominant global political organization in the world of One Piece, ruling over more than 170 member nations.

On the surface, it presents itself as a force for peace and justice, using its powerful military branch, the Marines, to protect civilians from pirates. Its stated goal is to maintain order under the philosophy of "Absolute Justice."

However, the World Government is a deeply corrupt and tyrannical entity built on secrets. Its true power structure is hidden from the public:

Celestial Dragons (Tenryuubito): The depraved, untouchable "World Nobles" descended from the founders of the World Government. They live in the Holy Land of Mariejois and can commit any crime without consequence.
The Five Elders (Gorosei): The highest public authority, a council of five elderly men who make the most significant political and military decisions.
Imu: The secret, true sovereign of the world who sits on the Empty Throne. Imu's existence is known only to the Five Elders, who bow to their authority.

The Government's primary goal is to maintain the status quo and its absolute power. It achieves this by brutally suppressing any threat, controlling information, and forbidding all research into the Void Century—a 100-year gap in history that holds the secret of the Government's rise to power.

In essence, the World Government is the primary antagonistic force of the series, representing a corrupt and oppressive system that the protagonists, like Monkey D. Luffy, inherently oppose.

9. #9Marines

   Keys: , Marines, Marine

   Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

   Entry settings

The Marines are the primary military force of the World Government, tasked with maintaining law and order across the world's oceans and combating the ever-growing threat of pirates. Led by a Fleet Admiral and his three powerful Admirals, they are the public face of global authority.

While their stated goal is to uphold "Justice," this ideal is interpreted in vastly different ways within their ranks. This creates a fascinating internal conflict:

Absolute Justice: A ruthless, uncompromising philosophy that believes in eradicating "evil" at any cost, even if it means sacrificing innocents. Moral Justice: A more compassionate approach where officers question their orders and prioritize protecting civilians above all else.

With immense manpower, powerful Devil Fruit users, Haki masters, and devastating military tactics like the Buster Call, the Marines are one of the most formidable powers in the world and serve as a constant antagonistic force to the Straw Hat Pirates and other pirate crews.

10. #10Marine Ranks

Keys: Rear Admiral, , Lieutenant Commander, Fleet Admiral, Seaman, Captain, Admiral, Recruit, Ensign, Warrant Officer, Petty Officer, Lieutenant, Chore Boy, Admirals, Vice Admirals, Commodore, Master Chief Petty Officer, Vice Admiral

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

    High Command (Flag Officers)

Fleet Admiral (Gensui): The supreme commander of the entire Marine organization. This single individual has ultimate authority over all fleets and personnel, answering only to the World Government's highest leaders. Admiral (Taishō): The second-highest rank, held by the three strongest fighters in the Marines, known as the "Greatest Military Powers." They command vast numbers of troops and can authorize a Buster Call—an order for total annihilation. Vice Admiral (Chūjō): High-ranking and powerful officers who command bases or lead their own fleets. They are a core part of the Marine leadership and are numerous enough to be found across all four seas and the Grand Line.

    Commissioned Officers

Rear Admiral & Commodore (Shōshō & Junshō): Lower-ranking flag officers who typically command smaller squadrons of ships or specific Marine branches. Captain (Taisa): A significant command position, usually in charge of a single Marine vessel or a base. Commander (Chūsa): Often the executive officer (second-in-command) on a captain's ship. Lieutenant Commander, Lieutenant, & Ensign (Shōsa, Taii, & Shōi): Junior officers who lead smaller platoons and carry out direct orders on the front lines.

    Enlisted and NCOs

Warrant Officer & Master Chief Petty Officer (Jun'i & Sōchō): Senior enlisted members who are experienced veterans. They serve as a bridge between officers and the standard troops. Petty Officer & Seaman (Heisō & Kaishi): The bulk of the Marine forces. These ranks make up the general infantry and sailors who perform most of the fighting and daily duties. Recruit / Chore Boy (Shinpei / Zatsuyō): The lowest positions for new enlistees, who perform menial labor while starting their training.

11. #11Seven Warlords

Keys: , Shichibukai, Seven Warlords, Warlord, Warlords

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Seven Warlords of the Sea (Shichibukai) are a group of seven powerful pirates allied with the World Government in the One Piece world. In exchange for their services, their bounties are frozen, and they receive significant leeway to commit crimes. They act as a counterbalance to the Four Emperors, contributing to the world's balance of power alongside the Marines, forming the "three great powers."

Though contracted by the World Government, their loyalty is questionable, and they are often viewed as a controversial "necessary evil" by the Marines due to their continued criminal activities. While expected to assist when called upon, their obedience isn't guaranteed, and each Warlord has their own individual motivations for joining the system.

12. #12Four Emperors

    Keys: Yonko, , Emperor, Emperors

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Four Emperors are the four most powerful and influential pirate captains in the world. They reside in the second half of the Grand Line, known as the New World, where they rule over vast territories and command massive fleets like kings.

Collectively, they are one of the "Three Great Powers" that maintain the world's balance. The title of Emperor is not officially given but is a reputation earned through overwhelming strength and influence, and the lineup changes whenever one is defeated and another rises to take their place.

14. #14Devil Fruits

Keys: , Devil Fruit, Logia, Devil Fruits, Zoan, Paramecia

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Devil Fruits are mystical fruits in the world of One Piece that grant unique supernatural abilities to those who consume them, but at the cost of losing the ability to swim. They are extremely rare, valuable, and generally, a person can only eat one.

    There are three main types:

Paramecia: Grant a wide variety of superhuman abilities (e.g., turning into rubber). Zoan: Allow the user to transform into an animal, including extinct (Ancient) and mythical (Mythical) creatures. Logia: The rarest type, enabling elemental transformation and control (e.g., fire, lightning).

All Devil Fruit users are severely weakened and paralyzed by water, and their powers can also be nullified by Seastone.

15. #15Races

Keys: , Buccaneers, Giants, Giant, Humans, race, Merfolk, Mermaids, Fish-Men, Birkans, Dwarves, Buccaneer, races, Long-Leg, Mink, Mermen, Lunarian, Skypieans, TontattaLong-Arm, Lunarians, Shandians, Oni, Human, Minks

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Humans: The most common and dominant race in the world, populating most islands and making up the majority of the World Government and the Marines. They are the baseline from which other humanoid races are often compared.

Fish-Men and Merfolk Two related races that live underwater, primarily on Fish-Man Island. Fish-Men: Humanoids with fish-like features (gills, webbed hands, sharp teeth). They have legs and are said to be ten times stronger than humans on land. They can breathe both air and water. Merfolk (Mermaids/Mermen): Humanoid upper bodies with fish tails. They are the fastest swimmers in the world but cannot walk on land.

Giants: A race of colossal humanoids known for their immense strength and long lifespan. Most hail from the warrior island of Elbaf, where honor is paramount.

Minks: Humanoids with animal features like fur, tails, and ears. They live on the back of a giant walking elephant named Zunesha. They are natural-born fighters and can generate electricity from their bodies, a skill called Electro. Under a full moon, they can transform into a powerful Sulong form.

Lunarians: A near-extinct, god-like race from the Red Line. They are recognized by their black wings, white hair, dark skin, and a flame that burns on their backs. They are known for their incredible durability and ability to create and manipulate fire.

Sky People: (Skypieans, Shandians, Birkans) The inhabitants of Sky Islands. They are distinguished by the small, vestigial wings on their backs.

Dwarves: (Tontatta Tribe) A tribe of tiny, incredibly fast, and deceptively strong people with small tails who live on Green Bit. They are known for being extremely naive and gullible.

Long-Arm and Long-Leg Tribes: Two distinct human-like races. The Long-Arm Tribe has an extra joint in their arms, making them very long. The Long-Leg Tribe has exceptionally long legs.

Oni: An ancient and powerful race characterized by their large size, horns, and exceptional toughness. Their exact nature is still mysterious.

Buccaneers: A legendary and nearly extinct race with the blood of giants, granting them enormous size and superhuman strength. They were persecuted by the World Government for a past "crime."

16. #16Poneglyphs

    Keys: , Poneglyphs, Poneglyph

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Poneglyphs are ancient stone tablets with mysterious carvings in the One Piece universe. They were created by the ancient civilization of the Void Century, a period of history that has been erased from the world's collective memory by the World Government. The Poneglyphs hold the key to the truth about the Void Century and the true history of the world.

There are two types of Poneglyphs:

Road Poneglyphs: These are a set of four Poneglyphs that hold the secret to the location of the final island, Laugh Tale, where the legendary treasure, One Piece, is hidden. Each Road Poneglyph contains a piece of the route to Laugh Tale.

Regular Poneglyphs: These Poneglyphs contain historical information about the Void Century, including the truth about the weapons of mass destruction used during that time. They also contain messages from the ancient civilization, such as the one found on the Skypiea Poneglyph, which speaks of a promise made by the people of the Void Century.

The Poneglyphs can only be read by people who can understand the ancient language.

17. #17Buster Call

    Keys: , Buster Call

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Buster Call is the most devastating military assault that can be ordered by the World Government's Marines.

When initiated, a fleet of ten warships, led by five Vice Admirals, is dispatched to a target island. Their sole objective is to bombard the location with overwhelming cannon fire until it is completely obliterated, erasing it from the map. The attack is indiscriminate, destroying everything and everyone on the island without distinguishing between criminals and innocent civilians.

It is reserved for situations deemed an "absolute threat" to the World Government, such as the discovery of forbidden history (like on Ohara) or a direct assault on a major government facility (like Enies Lobby). In short, it is a terrifying, scorched-earth tactic used to eliminate a threat completely and make an example out of them.

18. #18Void Century

    Keys: , Void Century

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Void Century is a 100-year gap in recorded history that took place 800 years before the current storyline. The World Government has completely forbidden any research into this period, and seeking its truth is considered a capital crime.

    Here are the key points:

A Lost History: For this 100-year period, no official historical records exist. It's as if it was deliberately erased. The Ancient Kingdom: During this time, an immensely powerful and prosperous kingdom existed (its name is still unknown). This kingdom was the enemy of the Twenty Kingdoms that would later form the World Government. A Great War: The Void Century ended with a massive war where the alliance of Twenty Kingdoms defeated the Ancient Kingdom and destroyed it. The World Government's Rise: After their victory, the Twenty Kingdoms established the World Government to rule the world. The descendants of these royals (except the Nefertari family of Alabasta) became the tyrannical Celestial Dragons. The Poneglyphs: The only surviving records of this era are the Poneglyphs—indestructible stone cubes inscribed with an ancient language. The defeated Ancient Kingdom created and scattered them to ensure their history would not be lost forever. The Ultimate Mystery: The central mystery is what the World Government is hiding. It's believed that the truth of the Void Century reveals the Government's corrupt origins and the true ideals of the defeated kingdom, which likely revolved around freedom.

In essence, the Void Century is the foundational secret of the One Piece world. Discovering its true history is the life goal of Nico Robin and is directly tied to the ultimate treasure, the One Piece, which is said to await on the final island, Laugh Tale.

20. #20Paradise & New World

    Keys: , Paradise, New World

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

In the world of One Piece, the main ocean route where the story takes place is called the Grand Line. It is divided into two halves by a massive continent called the Red Line.

    Paradise (The First Half)

Description: This is the first half of the Grand Line. It's called "Paradise" with a hint of irony, as it's incredibly dangerous compared to the normal seas, but still far more manageable than the second half. Navigation: Pirates use a special compass called a Log Pose, which locks onto the magnetic field of the next island in a set route. The journey is relatively linear. The Challenge: The main threats are rogue pirate crews, the Marines, and the Seven Warlords of the Sea (Shichibukai). It's a proving ground where pirates make a name for themselves.

The New World (The Second Half)

Description: This is the second and final half of the Grand Line. It is known as the "Pirate Graveyard" because only the most powerful and ruthless crews can survive here. Navigation: The magnetic fields are so chaotic that a standard Log Pose is useless. A special three-needle Log Pose is required, forcing crews to choose their path between highly unstable islands. The Challenge: The New World is the territory of the Four Emperors (the Yonko), the most powerful pirates in the world. Surviving here means either serving an Emperor or directly challenging them. The stakes are infinitely higher, and a mastery of Haki is essential for survival.

21. #21Log Pose

    Keys: , Log Pose

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Log Pose is a vital navigational device essential for sailing the Grand Line, a treacherous sea where normal compasses are useless due to chaotic magnetic fields.

There are several types of Log Poses, each suited for different parts of the Grand Line:

Standard Log Pose: This is the most common type, used in the first half of the Grand Line, known as "Paradise." Typically worn on the wrist, it looks like a compass with a single needle suspended inside a glass sphere. Instead of pointing north, the Log Pose locks onto the magnetic signature of the next island on a predetermined route. After arriving at an island, the crew must wait for the needle to "set" or "log" the island's magnetic field, which can take anywhere from a few hours to a year. Once set, it will point the way to the next island on the adventure.

Eternal Pose: A variation of the Log Pose that is permanently locked onto the magnetic signature of a single, specific island. It will always point to that location, never changing, allowing for direct travel that bypasses the standard routes.

New World Log Pose: An upgraded version with three needles is required to navigate the even more unstable seas of the New World (the second half of the Grand Line). Each needle locks onto a different island, and the crew must interpret the needles' movements to choose the safest path forward.

22. #22Den Den Mushi

Keys: , Den Den Mushi, snails, snail

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The Den Den Mushi are a species of telepathic snails that serve as the primary communication devices in the world of One Piece, functioning like telephones, fax machines, and even video cameras.

Their most iconic feature is that they mimic the facial expressions and emotions of the person speaking, making conversations visually expressive and often comical. When a call is cut, they fall asleep with a distinct "Kacha!" sound.

    There are several types, including:

Standard: Like a landline phone. Baby Den Den Mushi: Small, portable versions like cell phones. Black Den Den Mushi: Used for secretly intercepting communications. Golden Den Den Mushi: A special device used by the World Government to summon a devastating Buster Call.

23. #23Sea Kings

Keys: , Sea Kings, Sea King

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Sea Kings are colossal sea monsters that inhabit the oceans of the One Piece world, acting as the apex predators of the sea.

    Key characteristics include:

Massive Size: Their most defining feature is their immense scale. They can easily dwarf the largest ships and are among the biggest creatures in the world. Habitat: They are most famously found in the Calm Belts, the windless and current-less strips of ocean that border the Grand Line. Their presence makes these belts a near-impassable natural barrier for most sailors. Intelligence & Poseidon: While many appear to be simple beasts, Sea Kings are intelligent and can communicate. Their true significance is tied to the Ancient Weapon Poseidon, the Mermaid Princess Shirahoshi. She possesses the unique ability to hear, understand, and command them, and they revere her as their queen.

24. #24Haki

Keys: , Haki, Kenbunshoku Haki, Conqueror's Haki, Busoshoku Haki, Armament Haki, Observation Haki, Haoshoku Haki

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Haki is a mysterious power that is latent in every living being in the world of One Piece, though most people never awaken it. It is essentially the ability to sense and use one's own spiritual energy or willpower. Haki is the primary power system alongside Devil Fruits and is crucial for survival and combat in the treacherous New World.

It is broadly divided into three main types:

Armament Haki (Busoshoku Haki): This allows the user to create a form of invisible armor around themselves, which can be used for both defense and offense. When used offensively, it can dramatically increase the power of attacks and, most importantly, allows the user to bypass the special defenses of Devil Fruit users, making it the only reliable way to physically touch and injure a Logia user. Visually, it's often depicted as parts of the user's body turning black and shiny.

Observation Haki (Kenbunshoku Haki): This type grants the user a sixth sense, allowing them to sense the presence, strength, and emotions of others. In combat, it enables them to predict an opponent's moves moments before they happen, making it easier to dodge attacks. Highly advanced users can even see brief glimpses into the future.

Conqueror's Haki (Haoshoku Haki): This is the rarest form of Haki, which only one in several million people are born with. Unlike the other two, it cannot be trained and awakened; you either have it or you don't. It allows the user to exert their willpower over others. In its basic form, it can knock out those with weak wills. In its advanced form, it can be infused into attacks to create devastating power, rivaling the strongest abilities in the world.

25. #25Mariejois

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Mariejois, also known as the Holy Land, is the capital of the World Government. Located at the very top of the massive Red Line continent, it is considered the center of the world and the seat of the highest authority.

It is the exclusive home of the Celestial Dragons (World Nobles), the decadent and cruel descendants of the founders of the World Government. They live in obscene luxury, treating all other people as insects and openly practicing slavery with complete immunity from the law.

    Key features of Mariejois include:

Pangaea Castle: The massive castle where the Five Elders (Gorosei) and the secret ruler, Imu, reside and govern the world. The Reverie: It is the host city for the Reverie, a council where rulers from over 50 nations gather every four years to discuss global affairs. Symbol of Corruption: Despite its beautiful and "holy" appearance, Mariejois represents the deep corruption, hypocrisy, and oppressive nature of the World Government. It is the ultimate symbol of the power that figures like Monkey D. Dragon and the Straw Hats stand against.

26. #26Celestial Dragons

Keys: , World Nobles, World Noble, Celestial Dragon, Celestial Dragons, Tenryūbito

    Entry settings

The Celestial Dragons (or World Nobles) are the aristocratic descendants of the twenty kings who founded the World Government 800 years ago. They live in the "Holy Land" of Mary Geoise and consider themselves to be literal gods, holding absolute and unquestionable authority over the entire world.

    Key characteristics include:

Extreme Arrogance: They see commoners as insects and wear bubble-like helmets to avoid breathing the same air as them. Absolute Immunity: They are completely above the law. They can enslave, torture, or kill anyone for any reason without consequence. Ultimate Protection: Harming a Celestial Dragon is a grave sin that will cause a Marine Admiral—one of the World Government's strongest fighters—to be dispatched to obliterate the offender. Symbol of Corruption: They are the ultimate symbol of the world's injustice, inequality, and oppressive system, representing everything that protagonists like Luffy and the Revolutionary Army fight against.

27. #27Currency

Keys: Berries, , Extol, Beli, Berry

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

The main currency in the world of One Piece is the Beli (also spelled Berry, or Berries). Its symbol is a capital 'B' with two vertical slashes through it (฿).

There's no official conversion to real-world money, so its value is best understood through examples from the series:

Low Value: A newspaper costs about 100 Beli. High Value: A rare Devil Fruit can be worth over 100,000,000 Beli. Scale: Pirate bounties are a key measure. Luffy's first bounty was 30,000,000 Beli, while the bounties of the Four Emperors (Yonko) reach into the billions.

While Beli is the global standard, some isolated places have their own currency, like the Extol used in the sky island of Skypiea.

28. #28Bounties

    Keys: bounty, , bounties

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

In One Piece, bounties are cash rewards issued by the World Government for the capture or elimination of individuals they consider a threat. They are measured in the world's currency, Berries, and are almost always listed as "DEAD OR ALIVE."

A bounty is far more than just a measure of a person's fighting strength. It represents their overall threat level to the World Government's authority, which includes:

Strength and Influence: The power of the individual and the crew they lead. Criminal Acts: The scale of the crimes they've committed, especially direct attacks on the Government or Marines. Forbidden Knowledge: Knowing secrets the World Government wants to hide, like Nico Robin's ability to read Poneglyphs. Political Defiance: Openly challenging the World Government's power, like when Luffy declared war at Enies Lobby.

For pirates, a high bounty is a source of immense pride and a measure of their fame and notoriety. These bounties are published in newspapers and serve as a way for the world to track the rise of dangerous new figures, with the highest bounties belonging to the legendary Emperors of the Sea (Yonko) and the Pirate King, Gol D. Roger.

29. #29Fish-Man Island

    Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

    Entry settings

Fish-Man Island is a legendary, deep-sea kingdom located 10,000 meters below the ocean's surface, directly beneath the Red Line. It serves as the gateway to the New World for pirates traveling along the Grand Line.

The entire island exists within a massive, double-layered bubble that holds back the immense water pressure, creating a breathtaking, air-filled environment. It is illuminated by the light-giving roots of the colossal Sunlight Tree Eve. The kingdom is home to two distinct races: the powerful, fish-like Fish-Men and the graceful, fast-swimming Merfolk.

The central theme of Fish-Man Island is the struggle for co-existence between its inhabitants and humans. For centuries, Fish-Men and Merfolk have faced severe discrimination and slavery from the surface world, creating a deep cycle of hatred. This results in an internal conflict between those who follow the peaceful ideals of the late Queen Otohime and those who embrace violent supremacy, like the villain Hody Jones.

Princess Shirahoshi is the ancient weapon Poseidon.

Enies Lobby is a judicial island and stronghold of the World Government, featuring a unique geography that includes a massive stone citadel perched atop a tall pedestal of rock, suspended over a bottomless ocean abyss. A colossal waterfall and a climate phenomenon create eternal daylight, giving the island the nickname "Daylight Island." Access is primarily via heavily guarded Sea Train tracks that terminate at the main gate. The island's layout is linear, with a main gate, militarized town area, gargantuan Courthouse, Tower of Justice, Bridge of Hesitation, and the Gates of Justice. Designed as a physical manifestation of "Absolute Justice," Enies Lobby conveys a sense of inescapable, overwhelming, and impersonal power.

Impel Down, the World Government's maximum-security underwater prison, is a legendary and supposedly inescapable facility for the world's most dangerous criminals.

Located in the treacherous Calm Belt, it is naturally protected by giant Sea Kings. Entry is only possible through the Gates of Justice after ships undergo a "baptism" in boiling water.

The prison is a multi-level tower descending into the sea, with each level representing a unique form of hell designed to torture prisoners:

Level 1: Crimson Hell: A forest of blade-like leaves that constantly cut prisoners.
Level 2: Wild Beast Hell: A jungle where inmates are hunted by monstrous creatures.
Level 3: Starvation Hell: A scorching desert where prisoners are left to die of heat and starvation.
Level 4: Blazing Hell: A cavern of extreme heat and fire-based torture centered around a boiling pool of blood.
Level 5: Freezing Hell: A frozen wasteland causing severe frostbite, patrolled by aggressive wolves.
Level 5.5: Newkama Land: A secret "paradise" level, created by a former prisoner and unknown to the staff, where escapees live in freedom.
Level 6: Eternal Hell: The lowest level, where legendary criminals whose existence has been erased from history are held in eternal solitary confinement to be forgotten.

Security is absolute, with Sea Prism Stone walls that neutralize Devil Fruit powers, constant surveillance, and a powerful guard force. The entire prison is designed not just to contain criminals but to utterly break their spirits.

The Gates of Justice are a set of three colossal, identical gates that symbolize the absolute power of the World Government. These gates connect the government's three primary strongholds: the judicial island of Enies Lobby, the underwater prison Impel Down, and the naval headquarters of Marineford.

Physically, the gates are impossibly massive structures made of a dark, imposing material and marked with the World Government's symbol. Their primary function is to control the Tarai Current, a massive whirlpool that creates a rapid, secure, and exclusive transit route between the three locations. This allows the World Government to swiftly transport prisoners and deploy naval forces.

Symbolically, the Gates of Justice represent finality, dread, and inescapable authority. For criminals, passing through them signifies the end of freedom and a point of no return, serving as a constant, intimidating reminder of the World Government's immense power and reach.

Marineford is the crescent-shaped island headquarters of the World Government's Marines, serving as a symbol of military power and absolute justice. It is strategically located on the Grand Line, near the Red Line and Mariejois.

The island's layout includes several key features:

Oris Plaza: A massive public square facing the bay, dominated by a central execution platform. The Fortress: A colossal, white main building behind the plaza that blends Japanese and European architectural styles and is emblazoned with the kanji for "Justice." Defenses: The island is fortified with thick, cannon-lined walls and a massive, retractable sea wall that can seal the harbor to trap enemy ships. The Town: A residential area for marines' families, which contains the historic Bell of Ox and provides a contrast to the strict military atmosphere.
