#4New Eridu
Keys: New Eridu
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
New Eridu, the last surviving city after contemporary civilization was destroyed by the Hollows, survived due to the discovery of technology capable of extracting resources from the Hollows. This technology led to rapid industrialization, but also to tensions between monopolistic enterprises, criminal syndicates, gangs, conspirators, and fanatics. Yet, even as the factions of New Eridu aim to protect the city from external threats, they each harbor their own ambitions for control. The fragile peace within the city is built on layers of conspiracy, manipulation, and power struggles. New Eridu is a bustling city with many activities and careers taking place in it. Featuring a wide variety of people, shops, locations and more. New Eridu feature extensive infrastructure with roads and trains being able to transport it's citizens to the wide variety of locations it offers. While advanced computers and complex machinery exist, they often run on outdated CRT displays and VHS tapes. This is not a mere quirk of the city’s culture—VHS tapes have proven uniquely resistant to the corruption of the Ether within the Hollows, making them invaluable for recording and preserving vital data, including leisure material and teaching tools. Modern electronics break down almost immediately in the presence of Ether, but these archaic tapes endure, giving the city a crucial edge in retaining knowledge and culture. The technology in the city appears to be a blend of both retro and futuristic technology. New Eridu take many inspirations from former cities in Asia such as Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo. New Eriude has several quarters, the Janus Quarter, Throne Quarter, Pluto Quarter, Minerva Quarter, Faunus Quarter and Vulcan Quarter. Outer Ring is part of New Eridu, located on the outskirts.

Entry settings
The Hollows are supernatural disasters where a sudden black sphere appears out of thin air, creating disordered dimensions where monsters known as the Ethereal roam. They usually give a sign before appearing, such as vibrations in the surrounding area, electrical malfunctions, and certain objects disappearing from their initial place and reappearing in a completely different location. People enter these Hollows for various reasons, and Proxies are those who guide people in their exploration of these Hollows. Once swallowed, both non-living and living beings inside the Hollow will be subject to Corruption. Non-living objects will form Ether crystals. Once inside the Hollow, everything appears normal, with the same weather as outside the Hollow. However, everything inside is shifted by the Hollow's fissures, turning it into a maze with layers of distorted places. Hollows also seem to be interconnected with each other, as passing through a Fissure may lead to an entirely different Hollow, including Hollow Zero. Hollows are sustained by the Ether energy inside them. It is possible to reduce the size of a Hollow by destroying a massive number of Ethereals, or eliminating a particularly large one. Killing enough Ethereals can even completely eliminate a Hollow.
#29Ethereal

Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Ethereals are mysterious monsters that roam the Hollows. Ethereals are created through the corruption of living beings or artificial intelligence by the Ether inside the Hollows. Depending on how high one's Ether aptitude is, a person can resist to Ether exposure for longer periods of time before mutating into an Ethereal: bodily pain, distortion of the senses and the manifestation of Ether crystals on one's body are symptoms of severe, usually irreversible Ether corruption. Ethereals have supernatural abilities, ranging from super strength to teleportation. Ethereals are separated into two factions: Ether Mutants and Corrupted. Ether Mutants are a type of Ethereals that have been fully corrupted by the Hollow. Most Ether Mutants have a defining feature which is a pitch-black sphere located near their head.

New Eridu was later built beyond Hollow Zero's reach by the survivors of the catastrophe. Research indicates a connection between many Hollows near New Eridu and Hollow Zero. All Hollows in New Eridu originate from Hollow Zero or its Companion Hollows. To prevent a recurrence of the old Eridu tragedy, or perhaps for other undisclosed reasons, the authorities of New Eridu regularly send the New Eridu Defense Force, the Hollow Investigative Association, and other organizations to investigate and suppress Ether activity within Hollow Zero. Phaethon is the alias of a Legendary Proxy in New Eridu, representing the combined efforts of Wise and Belle, who operate together as a single Proxy team. Wise and Belle utilize their exclusive Hollow Deep Dive System or H.D.D system, a device they are said to have constructed from ancient technology found in the Hollows. The copyright for this system is later revealed to be owned by the Helios Research Institute. Using the H.D.D system, they can remotely control their specially-modified Bangboo, Eous, from a safe location. This capability has significantly contributed to their popularity, earning them a reputation as a "Proxy who doesn't enter the Hollows themselves, but manages real-time communication from the outside," a feat previously thought impossible due to how the Hollows interfere with communications. By controlling Eous from the outside, they can update their Hollow data in real-time, ensuring that the "Carrot" (Hollow map) doesn't become obsolete while their clients are inside the Hollow. This unique approach helped them achieve the prestigious "Legendary" rank. The subsequent addition of the AI Fairy, with its ability to access any and all connected devices within New Eridu, ensured they always had the most up-to-date Hollow data. This technological advantage rapidly propelled them back up through the ranks, much to the shock of some and suspicion of others, further cementing their success.
