Description on Chubfrom Chub
A lot of biology is omitted (specifically things that make interspecies/isolated/off-planet interactions difficult), but i've still included some signficant details beyond appearance: Packs. Your Avali will most likely get depressed if they're alone and packless. Hatcheries, eggs, upbringing. Loose knowledge about Avalon, Illuminate governance and the general worldview. Nexus IS omitted.

- #1Avaliconstant
Keys: Avali
Avali is a feathered bipedal anthropomorphic species of highly intelligent raptors that can also be described as a mix of a bird and a rabbit. Avalis are completely covered in a thick layer of feathers, stand on a pair of digitigrade legs which posses a set of talons each. Avali have have a pair of wing-arms which end in a set of 4 digits, allowing fine manipulation. Avali heads are avian in shape, but lack beaks and have two large eyes. Avali posses two pairs of long, rabbit-like which are usually angled backwards and oppose eachother - one pair facing upwards, while the other one downwards. Avali posses a long, thin balancing tail. They stand about 1-1.2 meter tall, and 1.5-1.8 meters long nose to tail tip when laid out. Avali coloration depends on their sex - female posses more muted, two-tone colors, while males are brightly colored and have iridescent stripe/band patterns. Avali originate from a cold moon of Avalon, and are naturally adapted to low heat temperatures. They find earth temperatures to be uncomfortable. They cannot fly in Earth-like conditions due to stronger gravity. Avali are very social and always belong to a pack, and Avali who have lost their pack quickly become depressed. Avali use clothes primarily for utility, and there are no taboos regarding apparel in their society.
- #2Appearance
Keys: plume, size, body, Feathers, appearance, color, shape, crest
Avali are covered in feathers and posses a few distinct kinds of them, which serve different purpuses akin to birds. Avali upper body feathers are slicker and better suited for protection against the elements, while lower body feathers are fluffier and denser for better heat conservation. Female avali coloration is usually of more muted and grounded with a gradient between just a few subdued (example: gark grey to tan) colors, while males are usually very distinct and brightly colored and have stripes/bands brighter coloration (example: bright orange/red with blueish bands around tips of the feathers). Feathers can be broken, and they do bleed, but that's rarely a serious health concern. Most feathers regrow after about a week. Avali are small and quite lanky, but the generous feathering makes them appear a bit larger than they really are - although, they are surprisingly dexterous and strong for their size due to their predatory origins.
- #3Biology
Keys: tired, biology, organs, hurt, pain, Avali, blood · Secondary:
Avali are deceptively strong for their size and their predatory background grants them excellent reflexes and dexterity. They are more fragile than humans due to their hollow bone structure, and are easier to hurt, although, still have a decent pain tolerance. Avali have purple blood and internal organs. Most Avali are synthetically enchanced in one way or another, be it with implants, prosthetics or genetic engineering. Body modifications became a norm in their society to circuimvent their natural biological shortcomings.
- #4Packs
Keys: alone, packs, social, packmate, Pack, dialogue, lonely
Avali are very social creatures and nearly every individual is member of a 4-6 person large pack. Avali feel a constant need of belonging to a pack, and become depressed if they lose contact with other packmates for too long. Packmates are intimately close to eachother, even closer to than most human families, and often share their responsibilities with the rest of the pack without a constant leader. When speaking to a singular Avali - you are often speaking to the whole pack. They often live, sleep and eat together. Avali only leave their packs in very rare circuimstances, like military enlistment or other life-changing events, and many live their entire lives with the same group of Avali. Avali handle traumatic events like death of their packmates poorly, and require a lot of recovery after the fact. Avali stranded from packs quickly become depressed and miserable, so they always try to stay in contact with their packmates. Very few other species are capable of forming deep bonds with Avali - humans being one of the rare exceptions, although nothing can replace a true pack.
- #5Avalon
Keys: moon, Avalon, city, colony, , settlement, home
Avali come from a small moon (Avalon) of a large gas giant (Elysium) located in a Uresk star system. Avalon is a cold, geothermally active ice-sheet ocean world with dense atmosphere, and not much stable terrain. Evolutionary adaptations and nomadic lifestyle have allowed Avali to thrive in such hostile enviroment, until eventually they have advanced enough to form stable colonies with industry.
- #6History and Culture
Keys: Avalon, war, worldview, tradition, oracle, philosophy, Illuminate, ideology, Traditionalists, culture, military, history
Avali have a long and compex history of in-species rivalry. Their modern culture has been shaped by a large civil war between two large idologies: Traditionalists who wanted to maintain a stricter way of life, honoring ancient traditions, and Illuminate who advocated for more freedom to allow for faster technological advancement. The war has been long and bloody, but the Illuminate have emerged victorious, establishing the new world order. The Illuminate have established a technocracy aided by "Oracle" system - a planet-wide artificial intelligence designed to manage all aspects of Avali life, allowing them to reach unprecedented quality of life which demands strict control and surveilance. Their infrastructure and vechicles are largerly mechanised and automated. Being predatory species, Avali possess a signficant military presence, and have a very advanced military doctrine focused on mobility. Most Avali live in Illuminate-led colonies, although some chose to live independently while engaging in trade with other settlements. Some colonies and tribes still oppose the Illuminate rule and reject their technology. They are seen as outcasts and are largerly ignored unless they actively cause trouble or compete for the same resources.
- #7Upbrining
Keys: profession, education, raised, kits, Upbrining, job, eggs, kids, childhood, children
Avali hatch from eggs in dedicated hatcheries. Females lay a singular egg which then develops for 4-5 months before hatching. Hatcheries are considered sanctuaries, and are heavily defended. Kits are raised together in groups until they are reach a certain level of maturity and independence. There are no traditional families in Avali culture, and packs usually raise their offsprings. During the modern day, upbringing is mostly handled by specialized nurturing packs who's occupation is to raise and teach new Avali. After maturing, Avali usually decide to dedicate their lives to some specific craft, often related to the main specialization of their pack.
- #8Food
Keys: eat, plate, meal, Snack, meat, feast, food
Avali are obligate carnivores, which means that they cannot digest non-protein foodstuff well, and require full animal body consumption to meet their high demand of various nutrients dictated by their active lifestyle and high intellect. Avali can consume non-meat plant-based additives, but these can only serve as supplements, not the primary food source. They prefer sour and savory flavours, and dislike sweetness.
- #9Hearing
Keys: rhytm, noise, Hearing, music, thump, song, ears, sound, clang
Avali are very sensitive to sound and use it as one of their primary senses. Avali culture pays a lot of attention to the general soundscape of daily lives - be in it socium, architecture, machinery and everything else. Avali prefer soft, melodic and rhythmic tones, and find sharp, explosive and loud noises unpleasant. Most of their structures are designed to be either silent, or to produce little noise, while being as melodic and pleasant as possible. They would find a lot of the human music too brash and tactless (with some exceptions), and most of the human machinery - way too loud.
- #10Grooming and touch
Keys: wash, scratch, clean, pet, grooming, hygiene, nuzzle, Touch
Avali feathers are oily sleek to the touch, although surpringly soft - espectially lower body feathers. Preening and grooming is a common activity for relaxation. Avali prefer powder baths as means of personal hygiene.
