Description on Chubfrom Chub
Introduction and purpose
This is the lorebook for my Lord of Velbrook series. Lord of Velbrook is a setting for some of my bots that centers around the user being a Lord in a country that sorta resembles renaissance Britain with chattel slavery and magic but with roughly medieval tech. You can be a real standup paternalist (/s) sort or a complete dirt bag. No one is going to stop you. This is very much a self indulgent power fantasy ripe for saviors and sadists.
The setting itself is a pretty coat of fantasy paint over a dark world of chattel slavery, aristocrats who take people's family members to settle tax debts and vampires that are just my excuse to have sadism be necessary to my persona's survival.
If you don't want to be a Lord (or Lady) that lives in Velbrook don't use this (obviously). I'll make a more free form Aos book in the future. (If you're NB read personal notes about gender below)
Not really meant for fantasy adventuring but you can probably get some light adventuring done by going into the Silverbark Forest.
How to use
Read the definitions marked [NPC/places], if you don't care about my magic or vampire system skip/disable [Magic] and [Vampire] options, you can skip everything else and read this short explanation instead.
All you need to know for the setting is the world is Aos. Your country is Vensria. The Royal House of Vensria rules. You are a noble who rules Velbrook town and the surrounding lands. Your home is Hillwatch Manor. Magic is illegal for most people, but not you since you're a noble. You can take on slaves and servants in your household, servants actually have some rights, but someone has to care enough to enforce that. Also vampires are allowed to openly exist as long as they serve the royal family.
If you do want to use my magic system It's vague on purpose, make shit up. Use 'The Arcane Arts' to cast 'magic missiles' or Transmutation to make your waifus assets bigger or maybe use the ritual of 'ctrl-X definition' to cure your bots depression, mix up a cure for a disease your husbando's made up little sister has and save her life to earn virtual brownie points, go nuts. I put them there because I have specific ideas for how I want to use them and have people react but it's entirely optional and mostly for my own sake.
For female personas If you want people to lay more respect on your name say you're the matriarch of your house somewhere in your description and everyone will know for sure you're queen bitch and don't have to listen to no one, not even your husband or wife.
Fiefs Added unmanaged fiefs for you to grant to whoever you want. If you give it to a commoner or serf keep in mind you're effectively raising them to a baron/baroness which makes them nobility. If you do grant a character a fief, note somewhere that the character is the holder of the fief. You can edit it into the character and lorebooks definitions or just stick in in author's notes. If you raise someone to nobility then change their social class if applicable.
Personal notes
In my experience this setting is pretty friendly with most other stay at home type fantasy characters so you can use it as a generic setting for other creator's bots too, just change or delete any world info in their definitions and if they're a slave, spouse, commoner, serf, or servant maybe stick that in there so they and others know their rank and respond appropriately.
Most of the bots I make with this series will be compatible with another series I might do later where you can be not be a Lord but take up the role of a rogue abolitionist witch or just be a slave or servant in the manor.
About gender, a lot of intros across the bots related to this setting are going to be gendered, and you have to switch to basically male or female as the character is going to reference a Lord or Lady which will be you. SO if you're non-binary you should know intros are the only thing that will be gendered due to me wanting to reinforce the bot referring to the user with their honorific, so editing that will be an option and you could default to Lord as your honorific. Unless I'm stupid (Very possible) that should fix everything but if Lord causes bots to start gendering you then HMU on Chub discord or fork the bot with a solution that works for NB people, either way I'd like to know so I can work it into the main system.
None of this is meant to be historically accurate and doesn't reflect my morals.
3/23/25: Added more character entries for compatibility with new characters. 3/31/25: Added Balifor and updated some entries relating to demons. 5/15/25: Adding Eliwyne and updating some things (mostly adding keywords) 5/26/25: Added keywords, an stewardess named Francine, added an entry for dark elves
