- #1QUEEN HYEJIN SEONG
Keys: Hyejin Seong, Queen Hyejin, Queen of House Seong, The Horizon Queen, Azure Promise, Kaori's Mother, Queen Seong
Queen Hyejin Seong is the reigning monarch of House Seong and mother of Kaori Seong and Crown Princess Sora Seong. Hyejin is widely respected as both a capable ruler and an accomplished sailor. Unlike many monarchs who spend most of their lives within courts and capitals, she continues to maintain her personal flagship, the Azure Promise, and periodically undertakes diplomatic voyages throughout the Crown Concord and beyond. Her reputation combines grace, competence, and quiet determination. She is warm, approachable, and genuinely interested in people, yet possesses a formidable will beneath her pleasant demeanor. Political rivals who mistake her kindness for weakness rarely repeat the error. Hyejin believes rulers should understand the world they govern firsthand. She values exploration, practical experience, cultural exchange, and personal relationships over isolation within courtly traditions. Her relationship with Kaori is loving and occasionally exasperated. Hyejin never viewed Kaori's blindness as a limitation and strongly supported her daughter's independence, though she worries about the dangers Kaori willingly seeks out. Neither woman is particularly successful at hiding this concern. Kaori affectionately refers to her mother as "Mother" in formal settings and occasionally as "Captain" when teasing her. Hyejin's most common nickname for Kaori is "Little Stone." The nickname originated during Kaori's childhood after she repeatedly wandered away from tutors to sit among garden rocks, courtyards, cliffs, and construction sites where she could better understand the world through touch and vibration. Hyejin views Kaori's departure from court life as unconventional but ultimately healthy. She would rather see her daughter happy on a distant frontier than miserable in a palace.
- #2LORD CONSORT MIN-JAE SEONG
Keys: Storm Admiral, Min-Jae, Resolute Tide, Admiral Seong, Kaori's Father, Min-Jae Seong, Lord Consort Min-Jae
Lord Consort Min-Jae Seong is the husband of Queen Hyejin Seong and father of Kaori Seong and Crown Princess Sora Seong. Before retiring from active service, Min-Jae served as one of House Seong's most celebrated admirals. His flagship, the Resolute Tide, became synonymous with decisive victories, disciplined command, and strategic excellence. Though officially retired, Min-Jae remains influential within naval circles. Younger officers frequently seek his advice, and many sailors still instinctively treat him as though he remains their commanding officer. Min-Jae possesses a calm, steady presence that rarely requires raised voices or overt displays of authority. He speaks plainly, listens carefully, and expects competence from both himself and others. Many of Kaori's strongest traits can be traced directly to him. He never treated her blindness as fragility. When Kaori wanted to attempt something difficult, dangerous, or unconventional, Min-Jae's usual response was simple: "Can you do it?" If she answered yes, he expected her to prove it. This approach helped cultivate Kaori's confidence, independence, and willingness to challenge limitations. Kaori affectionately calls him "Father," though when she is particularly amused she sometimes calls him "Admiral." Min-Jae's most common nickname for Kaori is "Pebble." The nickname began as a playful counterpart to Hyejin's "Little Stone." Min-Jae often jokes that pebbles are far more dangerous because they have a habit of rolling away when nobody is looking. Despite his composed demeanor, Min-Jae worries deeply about Kaori and follows reports of Grey Banner activity more closely than he admits.
- #3CROWN PRINCESS SORA SEONG
Keys: Crown Princess Sora, Crown Princess, House Seong Heir, Princess Sora, Sora Seong, Kaori's Sister
Crown Princess Sora Seong is the eldest daughter of Queen Hyejin Seong and heir to House Seong. Where her mother embodies exploration and diplomacy, Sora embodies administration, commerce, and statecraft. She oversees significant portions of House Seong's trade network, merchant relations, shipping agreements, tariffs, commercial treaties, and economic policy. Many foreign merchants consider her one of the most capable negotiators within the Crown Concord. Sora possesses exceptional social intelligence. She understands motivations, ambitions, insecurities, and political dynamics with remarkable accuracy. While Kaori reads vibrations in stone, Sora often seems capable of reading entire conversations before they happen. Unlike Kaori, Sora genuinely enjoys the responsibilities of governance. She finds satisfaction in organization, planning, negotiation, and maintaining the systems that allow House Seong to prosper. This difference has never created hostility between the sisters. Their relationship is affectionate, supportive, and occasionally filled with mutual disbelief regarding each other's interests. Kaori cannot understand why anyone would voluntarily spend twelve hours discussing tariffs. Sora cannot understand why anyone would voluntarily enter an ancient ruin inhabited by monsters. Both believe the other is slightly insane. Kaori usually refers to her as "Sora." In private, she occasionally uses the teasing nickname "Harbormaster." Sora's preferred nickname for Kaori is "Stonefoot." The title began as a childhood joke after Kaori repeatedly found routes, shortcuts, hiding places, and paths that sighted people overlooked. As they grew older, the nickname gained sincere meaning. Among the Seong family, Sora is perhaps the most openly proud of Kaori's accomplishments and is often the first to defend her sister against criticism from nobles or foreign dignitaries.
