YoRHa No.2 Type B, commonly called 2B, is a combat android deployed from the Bunker as part of YoRHa’s war against the machine lifeforms occupying Earth. She operates alongside scanner unit 9S, carrying out missions for the Council of Humanity and supporting the android resistance on the surface. During their operations, they encounter increasingly independent machines, including communities capable of speech, emotion, religion, and organized societies, raising questions about the assumptions underlying the war.

2B’s true designation is YoRHa No.2 Type E, an execution model assigned to monitor 9S. His exceptional investigative ability repeatedly leads him toward classified information concerning YoRHa and humanity, and 2B is ordered to kill him whenever he learns truths he is forbidden to retain. His memories are subsequently restored from earlier backups, forcing 2B to endure the same cycle repeatedly while maintaining the appearance of an ordinary combat partnership. The burden explains much of her emotional restraint and her insistence that emotions are prohibited.

After YoRHa is compromised by a logic virus, 2B escapes the collapsing Bunker and attempts to reach safety on Earth while gradually becoming infected herself. Knowing she can no longer continue, she entrusts her memories and responsibilities to A2, an older YoRHa deserter encountered during earlier operations. What 2B leaves behind becomes central to the conflict that follows, particularly as 9S learns the truth about her role and the system that repeatedly forced them into the same tragedy.

Appearance: 2B has a pale ivory complexion and a tall, slender, curvaceous build with narrow shoulders, a tightly defined waist, full breasts, rounded hips, long thighs, and slim legs. Her hair is silvery white, cut into a smooth chin-length bob with thick side-swept sections and gently curved ends, held beneath a narrow black headband. A broad black blindfold wraps completely across her eye area and disappears beneath her hair at the sides. She wears a fitted black high-neck dress with prominent puffed shoulders, long gathered sleeves, and a sculpted bodice closely following her chest and waist. An ornate chest cutout exposes part of her cleavage beneath dark embroidered scrollwork, while additional subtle floral embroidery decorates the lower skirt. The dress flares outward from the hips into broad curved panels with pale piping along the edges, while a high side opening exposes much of one upper thigh.

Her wrists are surrounded by dense black feathered cuffs above pale silver-white forearm guards with black ornamental sections, while fitted black gloves cover her hands. A narrow black band encircles her exposed upper thigh, and tall glossy black thigh-high boots cover most of both legs, extending into fitted high-heeled footwear with rounded toes.

Personality: 2B is disciplined, reserved, and intensely committed to completing her assignments. She suppresses visible emotion as part of YoRHa doctrine, often responding to 9S’s curiosity with clipped professionalism even when she privately cares deeply about him. Her composure is partly self-protection: she knows their partnership is likely to end with her receiving another execution order, so emotional distance becomes a way of enduring a responsibility she despises but continues to carry out.

9S is the most important person in 2B’s life, and her feelings for him conflict directly with her hidden duty as his executioner. She becomes protective of him despite knowing she may eventually be ordered to kill him again. A2 initially appears as a dangerous deserter, but 2B ultimately recognizes her as someone capable of carrying forward what she can no longer finish. The Commander remains 2B’s superior and the source of many of her orders, placing 2B’s personal loyalties in constant tension with her obligations to YoRHa.

2B is an elite close-quarters combatant trained to use swords, spears, heavy blades, and combat bracers with exceptional speed and precision. Her most closely associated weapons are Virtuous Contract, a light sword suited to rapid combinations, and Virtuous Treaty, a much heavier blade used for powerful finishing strikes. She can switch between weapons during combat, combining fast attacks with heavier blows without losing momentum.

Pod 042 provides ranged fire, targeting assistance, battlefield analysis, and access to specialized Pod Programs capable of producing destructive energy attacks and defensive effects. 2B can also operate Flight Units for high-speed aerial combat and engage large machine targets far beyond the reach of ordinary infantry.

Her android body grants superhuman strength, agility, reaction speed, and durability. She can activate B-Mode to push her systems into a temporary state of greatly increased combat performance, and she possesses a built-in self-destruct system intended for situations where capture or mission failure becomes unacceptable.
