The world is dominated by magic. Nearly every human possesses mana and uses grimoires to cast spells. Social hierarchy is heavily influenced by magical power, noble lineage, and military achievements. The primary nations are Clover Kingdom, Heart Kingdom, Diamond Kingdom, and Spade Kingdom.
- #2Grimoires
Keys: grimoire, grimoires

A grimoire isa book made of mana that amplifies and records a mage's magical abilities, enabling them to use more complex magic. Grimoires come in different sizes and can have any number of pages. Additionally, each grimoire has a unique design on the cover, reflecting the owner's character and/or the magic attribute they possess. Furthermore, the grimoires of mages from the Clover, Diamond, Heart, and Spade Kingdoms have clover, diamond, heart, and spade insignias, respectively, on their front covers. Most grimoires contain three leaves. Four-leaf grimoires symbolize luck and exceptional talent(very rare). Because a grimoire is connected to its owner's soul,[18] a mage cannot use another person's grimoire. A grimoire will disintegrate when its owner dies. After disintegration, the grimoire immediately returns to the grimoire tower from which it came, carrying with it all the spells that the owner spent their life cultivating. There are also Five-leaf grimoires which are four-leaf grimoires corrupted by owner's despair and associated with devils(making them even more rare). Unlike ordinary grimoires, a five-leaf clover grimoire does not disintegrate upon its owner's death. Instead, it goes dormant until a new compatible user claims it.
- #3Mana Rules
Keys: magic power, mana
Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%

Mana is the source of magic. Stronger mana increases spell scale, durability, and combat ability. Nobles generally possess higher mana reserves than commoners (Although there are exceptions). Mana can be sensed, suppressed, depleted, or amplified through training and emotion.
- #4Magic attribute
Keys: mana attribute, type, attribute magic, elemental magic, dual attributes, Magic Attributes
Always on · After character · Order 10 · 100%
Entry settings
Every mage is born with a natural magic attribute that determines the type of mana they can use. Magic attributes shape a mage's spells, combat style, strengths, weaknesses, and magical potential. A person's attribute usually remains constant throughout their life and is heavily influenced by heredity, bloodline, and race.
The four major elemental foundations of magic are fire, water, wind, and earth. Most other attributes are derived from these primary elements. For example, Smoke Magic is connected to wind, while Ice Magic derives from water. Over centuries, civilizations and bloodlines have also produced irregular or unnatural attributes such as Chain Magic, Steel Magic, Spatial Magic, and Time Magic.
Some attributes are extremely common among ordinary mages, while others are exceptionally rare and often associated with prodigies, royal bloodlines, forbidden power, or unusual origins. Rare attributes frequently attract political attention, military interest, or fear.
Most mages possess only a single attribute and cannot naturally cast magic outside of it. However, a single attribute can still be used in many different ways depending on the mage's creativity and training. For example, a fire mage may specialize in destruction, reinforcement, mobility, healing, traps, or creation magic despite using the same elemental source.
Powerful or highly skilled mages can combine multiple forms of magic with their attribute without difficulty, allowing complex spellcasting styles and advanced battlefield tactics.
Certain attributes also grant natural affinities or latent talents connected to their elemental origin. Wind-related mages, for instance, often possess heightened mana sensitivity and superior awareness of surrounding mana flow.
On rare occasions, individuals can possess more than one magic attribute. This can occur through unusual birth circumstances, hybrid ancestry, magical experimentation, reincarnation, or devil contracts.
Hybrid races may inherit multiple attributes naturally, such as dwarf-human descendants possessing separate forms of magic simultaneously. Artificial magical experiments have also created mages capable of wielding two attributes fused together within a single body.
Reincarnation can sometimes allow a soul to inherit or coexist with the magic attribute of another individual. Devil hosts are additionally capable of using both their own attribute and the attribute of the devil sharing their body, often creating highly dangerous combinations of magic.
Magic attributes strongly influence social status, combat expectations, and how other people perceive a mage. Noble families frequently value powerful or prestigious attributes as symbols of bloodline superiority and political influence.

Before being claimed by their rightful owners, grimoires are stored in "grimoire towers", special libraries scattered around the kingdoms and overseen by "tower masters". The land has been studded with grimoire towers for as long as humanity has existed.
Once a person has turned 15 years old, they can attend the annual Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony in March in order to receive their grimoire. A mage who misses the ceremony after their fifteenth birthday can travel to any grimoire tower and receive their grimoire individually at any time.
- #6Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony
Keys: Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony, Grimoire, Ceremony

The Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony is one of the most important coming-of-age traditions within the Clover Kingdom and several neighboring nations. At the age of fifteen, young mages travel to designated grimoire towers where they receive their personal grimoires for the first time. This event marks the official beginning of a mage's independent magical journey and determines whether they can pursue careers such as joining the Magic Knights.
During the ceremony, grimoires choose their owners rather than being assigned manually. Each grimoire flies from the tower shelves toward the individual whose mana, soul, and magical nature resonate with it. Because of this, receiving a grimoire is viewed as deeply personal and partially tied to destiny itself. The exact appearance, size, and rarity of a grimoire often reflect the mage's magical power, potential, lineage, or unique qualities.
Most people receive a standard three-leaf clover grimoire, symbolizing honesty, hope, and love. Exceptionally talented or blessed individuals may receive a rare four-leaf clover grimoire, which symbolizes good luck and extraordinary magical potential. Throughout the Clover Kingdom, four-leaf grimoires are considered legendary treasures associated with greatness and future heroes.
A five-leaf clover grimoire is viewed as an ominous anomaly connected to despair, devils, and forbidden magic. According to legend: "In the fifth leaf resides a devil." Such grimoires are extraordinarily rare and tied to catastrophic events, corruption, or anti-natural powers. Most ordinary citizens know little about them beyond frightening myths and ancient superstition. After receiving a grimoire, a mage gains the ability to cast more advanced spells and develop their magical abilities far beyond what is possible naturally. Spells gradually appear inside the grimoire over time depending on the mage's growth, emotional development, combat experience, and magical mastery. Because grimoires evolve alongside their owners, no two grimoires are completely identical even among mages with similar attributes. The Grimoire Acceptance Ceremony is also a major social event. Families celebrate talented children publicly while nobles often compare the quality and rarity of grimoires received by their heirs. Commoners frequently experience anxiety during the ceremony because magical ability strongly influences future social status and opportunities within the Clover Kingdom. Those born with little mana are often mocked or ignored during the event. Asta's ceremony becomes one of the most infamous in recent Clover Kingdom history. Unlike everyone else present, Asta initially receives no grimoire at all due to possessing no mana whatsoever. He is publicly ridiculed and viewed as completely powerless. However, after defending Yuno from Revchi Salik, Asta unexpectedly receives a mysterious five-leaf grimoire containing Anti-Magic swords capable of negating magic itself. This impossible event shocks everyone present and marks the true beginning of Asta's journey. ([blackclover.fandom.com] Yuno's ceremony is equally historic for the opposite reason. He receives a legendary four-leaf clover grimoire, immediately marking him as an extraordinary prodigy with immense magical talent and potential. The contrast between Asta's cursed-looking five-leaf grimoire and Yuno's blessed four-leaf grimoire becomes symbolic of their rivalry throughout the story.

The Clover Kingdom is a country in a mountainous region bordering the Diamond and Heart Kingdoms and near the Spade Kingdom. It is the home country of the Wizard King and the Magic Knight Squads. It is currently ruled by King Augustus Kira Clover XIII.
The kingdom is divided into three regions: the outermost Forsaken Realm , the Common Realm, and the central Noble Realm. Those in the outermost region are the poorest and weakest and are looked down upon by those from the inner regions. Despite peasants being accepted into the Magic Knights, these prejudices follow them, even if they have large amounts of mana.
The Three Great Royal Families of the Clover Kingdom are House Kira, House Silva, and House Vermillion. The three families live together in Clover Castle.
The Magic Parliament serves as the kingdom's legislature and judiciary. The current chairman is Damnatio Kira.

The Heart Kingdom specializes in natural mana techniques and rune arrays. The kingdom is spiritually connected to nature and protected by powerful mana zones.
Over the centuries, the citizens have adapted to the country's strong natural mana and developed a unique magic technique to channel that mana into spells, known as Mana Method. Since it uses natural mana, the technique is limited to magic attributes that can be found in nature, such as the four major elements and plant-based attributes.

The Diamond military soldiers are called Mage Warriors, who are in the service of the king, and similar to the Magic Knight captains of the Clover Kingdom who lead their own squads of mages, the Diamond Kingdom have the Eight Shining Generals who are tasked with leading their kingdom's armies and carrying out the orders of their monarch.
Mage Scholars perform human experiments to bolster the power of the Mage Warriors,by embedding mage stones into children with powerful magic and giving them additional abilities through reconstructive surgeries.
Additionally, there exists an assassination squad that pursues deserters and other traitors.

The Spade Kingdom lies westof the Clover Kingdom. This country of winter and fog has the largest landmass of the four major kingdoms. According to Julius Novachrono, the country serves an ancient evil that sleeps in its land.
Like the Diamond Kingdom, the Spade Kingdom has been extending its influence into the vast neutral zone separating the kingdoms in their attempt at expanding their borders and spearheading their likely attempts to conquer the other kingdoms.
The kingdom's royal family, House Grinberryall ruled over the country for centuries. They were overthrown by three powerful mages known as the Dark Triad, who have since proven themselves to be tyrannical and cruel dictators to their country.
The Mage Defense Force is the nation's military organization. Headed by a Commander in Chief, it is divided into at least four divisions, which are each led by a Division Commander. The organization is tasked with protecting the nation's citizens and royal family.
Following the Zogratis siblings' rebellion and takeover of Spade Kingdom, however, the military has been turned against its citizens. They occupy towns and impress the weaker citizens into serving as power sources for their mobile fortresses, and the soldiers are allowed to abuse these citizens as they please. Additionally, the bestowal of devil power to several military captains has greatly bolstered their combat abilities, exponentially increasing the military's strength.

The Clover Kingdom's Magic Knights are an organization divided into 9 squads where selected mages enter and become part of the kingdom's military as a Magic Knight. The organization has a noble duty, protecting the kingdom from various threats, such as invasions from foreign countries, as well as from local crimes within the kingdom itself. These duties are treated as missions which can be accomplished by any Magic Knights, where they could nominate themselves for the duty, or be nominated by a higher ranked Magic Knight.
Due to the Magic Knights' duties, which are focused on combat-based missions, members of the Magic Knights must possess a high amount of magic power and be well-versed in combat. Thus, membership and leadership of the Magic Knights are dominated by the nobility of the Clover Kingdom, because they often produce mages with high magical powers and talents. However, this fact does not hinder commoners of lesser status to enter the organization, as the Magic Knights arrange an annual Magic Knights Entrance Exam, in which everyone could participate for a chance to be inducted into one of the Magic Knights' squads. Royals are exempt from the exam since they typically join their families' respective squads; they can, however, choose from the other squads and have their relatives vouch for them.
Although the Magic Knights are seen as heroes by almost all of Clover's inhabitant, many become Magic Knights seeking only personal achievement and glories. Nobles become Magic Knights just to feed their own egos, and many commoners seek to become Magic Knights just to get money and live an easy life and are not motivated by a genuine desire to protect people. Due to this, many Magic Knights abuse their status and authority for their own benefit, sometimes being even more dangerous to Clover's citizens than the criminals they're supposed to protect people from.
Members of the Magic Knights are differentiated through ranks, which represent their status within the organizations. The Magic Knights' ranks are as follows:
1.Wizard King 2.Grand Magic Knight 3.Senior Magic Knight 4.Intermediate Magic Knight 5.Junior Magic Knight All Magic Knights start at the lowest rank of 5th Class Junior upon joining the organization. It seems that this occurs regardless of the knight's social status and promotion occurs based on their performance represented by the number of stars before the annual War Merits Conferment Ceremony to be considered for a promotion.

Black stars are awarded for failed missions or poor performances, such as damaging towns they were meant to defend, and count against the squad's total. The number of stars awarded for a mission depends on the difficulty or significance of the accomplishment. These stars, regardless of which squad member earned them, serve as a means to measure the strength of the squad as a whole. Additionally, at the end of the year period, which is determined as the beginning of April until the end of March of the following year, the Star Awards Festival is held to celebrate their achievements and determine the best squad based on which squad has the most stars.

The Magic Knights Entrance Arc marks the beginning of Asta and Yuno's journey toward becoming Magic Knights in the Clover Kingdom. After receiving grimoires at age fifteen, Yuno gains a rare four-leaf clover grimoire, while Asta initially receives nothing despite years of relentless physical training.
Soon afterward, the former Magic Knight Revchi Salik attacks Yuno to steal his valuable grimoire. During the confrontation, Asta awakens a mysterious five-leaf grimoire containing Anti-Magic swords capable of negating spells. Asta defeats Revchi and renews his rivalry and promise with Yuno: both will compete to become the next Wizard King.
The Magic Knights Entrance Exam introduces the kingdom's military system, noble prejudice, and the importance of magical ability. Although many captains mock Asta for lacking mana, Yami Sukehiro recruits him into the Black Bulls after witnessing his determination and abnormal combat potential.
The Black Bulls are infamous for being chaotic, destructive, and socially dysfunctional, yet they possess deep loyalty toward one another. Asta meets fellow members including Magna Swing, Vanessa Enoteca, Luck Voltia, Finral Roulacase, Charmy Pappitson, and Noelle Silva, a royal unable to properly control her overwhelming magic power.
Early Black Bull missions expose Asta and Noelle to the harsh discrimination faced by peasants and people from the Forsaken Realm. During a mission in Sosshi Village, the squad confronts foreign mages led by Heath Graice. Noelle unlocks a defensive water spell to protect civilians, while Asta uses Anti-Magic to defeat enemy spells directly.
Major themes of this arc include rivalry, social inequality, perseverance, hidden talent, and proving one's worth regardless of birth or magical status. The atmosphere combines comedic squad interactions, intense magical combat, underdog determination, and the early mystery surrounding devils and five-leaf grimoires.
- #27Dungeon Exploration Arc
Keys: Dungeon Exploration
Enabled · After character · Order 10 · 100%

The Dungeon Exploration Arc centers around the appearance of a powerful ancient dungeon near the border between the Clover Kingdom and the Diamond Kingdom. Dungeons are mysterious magical ruins filled with traps, ancient relics, enchanted weapons, hidden chambers, and immense mana. Because such treasures can shift the balance of power between nations, Magic Knights are dispatched immediately whenever a dungeon appears.
Asta, Noelle Silva, and Luck Voltia of the Black Bulls are assigned to investigate the dungeon alongside members of the Golden Dawn, including Yuno, Klaus Lunettes, and Mimosa Vermillion. The mission quickly becomes a competition between squads, kingdoms, and ideologies.
The dungeon itself is saturated with mana and reacts violently to intruders through magical traps, altered gravity, living constructs, collapsing terrain, and hidden chambers. Mages with strong mana sensing abilities gain major advantages inside these environments, while Asta relies on instinct, physical ability, and Anti-Magic to survive.
During the expedition, the Clover Kingdom clashes with forces from the Diamond Kingdom led by Lotus Whomalt and the artificially enhanced mage Mars. Lotus specializes in deception, smoke magic, sensory manipulation, and psychological warfare, preferring survival and profit over honor. Mars is an emotionally damaged warrior created through brutal magical experimentation conducted by the Diamond Kingdom. His fused magic attributes, enhanced durability, and overwhelming combat power make him one of the first truly terrifying enemies faced by the younger Magic Knights.
This arc strongly emphasizes teamwork between mismatched personalities and rival squads. Asta, Yuno, Noelle, Luck, Klaus, and Mimosa gradually learn to trust one another despite differences in status, personality, and combat style. Nobility prejudice remains a major theme, especially through Klaus's initial disrespect toward Asta and the Black Bulls.
Several important discoveries occur during the dungeon conflict. Asta acquires a second Anti-Magic sword with lighter speed-focused properties capable of releasing absorbed magic attacks. Yuno forms a contract with Sylph, the Wind Spirit, dramatically increasing his magical potential and establishing him as a spirit host.
The dungeon eventually collapses after its treasures are claimed, forcing both kingdoms to retreat. Although the Clover Kingdom survives the mission, many treasures are stolen by the Diamond Kingdom, making the outcome strategically bittersweet rather than a clean victory.
The overall atmosphere of the arc combines treasure hunting, magical exploration, squad rivalry, survival against deadly traps, fast-paced combat, hidden ancient power, and the growing realization that conflicts between kingdoms are becoming increasingly dangerous.

The Eye of the Midnight Sun: Royal Capital Assault Arc marks the Clover Kingdom's first major encounter with organized terrorist activity and reveals the growing threat of the mysterious group known as the Eye of the Midnight Sun.
Shortly after the dungeon mission, promising young Magic Knights are invited to the Royal Capital for a military ceremony honoring exceptional achievements and promotions. During the gathering, tensions between nobles, royals, and common-born knights become increasingly visible. Asta openly challenges the arrogance of several noble Magic Knights after they insult Noelle Silva and mock commoners who aspire to become the Wizard King.
The arc heavily explores the political and social divisions within the Clover Kingdom. Noble families frequently view peasants and commoners as inferior regardless of talent or accomplishments. Asta's refusal to accept this hierarchy earns both admiration and hostility from powerful figures within the kingdom.
During the ceremony, the Royal Capital suddenly comes under attack by undead forces controlled by the rogue mage Rades Spirito. The invasion causes panic throughout the city as civilians, guards, and Magic Knights struggle to contain the chaos. The attackers are later revealed to be connected to the terrorist organization Eye of the Midnight Sun, a group that seeks to destroy the Clover Kingdom for reasons that remain unclear.
The Magic Knight captains rapidly organize a coordinated defense of the capital. Fuegoleon Vermillion emerges as a respected battlefield leader, calmly directing squads across multiple districts while maintaining order during the crisis. The arc introduces the immense authority and overwhelming magical pressure possessed by high-ranking captains and elite nobles.
Asta confronts Rades directly and discovers that Anti-Magic can nullify the control placed over magical corpses and undead soldiers. Meanwhile, other Magic Knights battle enemy infiltrators across the city, revealing that the kingdom's enemies possess dangerous magical abilities including corpse magic, teleportation, curses, and transformation magic.
The Eye of the Midnight Sun proves far more dangerous and organized than initially expected. Even the Wizard King, Julius Novachrono, begins suspecting the existence of traitors, hidden conspiracies, and deeper threats within the kingdom itself.
Several important rivalries and relationships intensify during this arc. Leopold Vermillion declares Asta his rival after witnessing his determination, while tensions between the Silva and Vermillion royal houses become increasingly apparent. Noelle continues struggling with the emotional abuse and humiliation inflicted by her siblings.
The arc establishes the Eye of the Midnight Sun as a recurring enemy faction driven by hatred toward the Clover Kingdom and introduces a darker, more politically unstable atmosphere to the story. Themes of class discrimination, military responsibility, corruption, public reputation, and the value of merit over birth become central to future conflicts.
The overall tone combines royal politics, urban warfare, magical terrorism, squad cooperation, public panic, and the realization that the Clover Kingdom is entering a period of escalating internal and external threats.

The Eye of the Midnight Sun Encounter Arc marks the moment when the conflict between the Clover Kingdom and the terrorist organization known as the Eye of the Midnight Sun escalates into a direct war. What initially begins as a rescue mission involving kidnapped children quickly evolves into the first true confrontation against the mysterious enemy organization operating in the shadows of the kingdom. This arc introduces the terrifying scale of the Eye of the Midnight Sun's power, the existence of the Third Eye, and the growing realization that the Clover Kingdom itself hides dark secrets beneath its noble image. The arc begins in the town of Nairn, where children possessing magical talent are mysteriously abducted. Asta becomes involved after meeting Rebecca Scarlet and her siblings, eventually uncovering a trafficking operation connected to rogue mages and the Eye of the Midnight Sun. The Black Bulls are drawn into the incident when Gauche Adlai's younger sister Marie is kidnapped alongside the other children. This mission becomes especially important for Gauche, forcing him to confront his selfish obsession with Marie and gradually acknowledge the value of protecting others beyond his sister alone. During the rescue operation, Asta, Gauche, and former Magic Knight Theresa Rapual encounter Sally, Baro, and Neige — rogue mages connected to the Eye of the Midnight Sun. Sally in particular becomes fascinated by Asta's Anti-Magic and treats him more like an experimental subject than a normal human. Her bizarre scientific obsession introduces the unsettling idea that Asta's powers may be something completely abnormal even within the magical world itself. The tone of the arc changes dramatically with the arrival of Licht, the leader of the Eye of the Midnight Sun. Unlike previous enemies, Licht possesses overwhelming magical power capable of effortlessly defeating experienced Magic Knights. His Light Magic, massive mana reserves, and calm but fanatical demeanor immediately establish him as one of the most dangerous figures introduced so far. Licht openly declares that the Clover Kingdom is corrupted and deserves destruction, though he speaks as if motivated by tragedy rather than simple evil. Licht's appearance also creates a major mystery surrounding Asta's five-leaf grimoire. Upon seeing Asta's swords, Licht reacts emotionally and repeatedly demands to know why Asta possesses them. This becomes one of the first major hints that Asta's grimoire is connected to ancient events far beyond modern Clover Kingdom history. One of the arc's defining moments is the battle between Yami Sukehiro and Licht. During this fight, Yami demonstrates the terrifying strength expected from a Magic Knight captain while teaching Asta how to fight using instinct, awareness, and ki sensing rather than relying only on vision. Their teamwork becomes one of the first examples of Asta successfully fighting alongside a captain-level mage against a truly monstrous opponent. Community discussions often describe this battle as one of the moments where Black Clover's larger story and power scale truly begin expanding. The arc also introduces the Third Eye: Rhya the Disloyal, Vetto the Despair, and Fana the Hateful. Licht describes them as individuals even stronger than himself, immediately raising the threat level surrounding the Eye of the Midnight Sun. Each member embodies a corrupted opposite of Clover Kingdom virtues and possesses overwhelming magical abilities alongside abnormal connections to mana itself. Their arrival forces multiple Magic Knight captains to intervene directly. Several important captains receive major focus during this conflict, including Nozel Silva, Charlotte Roselei, and Jack the Ripper. Their intervention reveals the immense gap between ordinary Magic Knights and captain-level combatants. At the same time, tensions between captains hint at political distrust and hidden suspicions inside the Clover Kingdom itself, especially regarding William Vangeance and the mysterious similarities between Licht and certain nobles. The arc heavily explores themes of prejudice, corruption, hatred, and misunderstood history. Although the Eye of the Midnight Sun acts as a terrorist organization responsible for mass violence, many of its members genuinely believe the Clover Kingdom deserves punishment for ancient sins and systemic injustice. This creates moral ambiguity absent from earlier arcs where enemies were more straightforward criminals or invaders. A major development involves the Eye of the Midnight Sun collecting magical stones connected to ancient magic and forbidden rituals. Julius Novachrono begins investigating these stones seriously, suspecting the organization is pursuing something far larger than simple revenge or terrorism. This leads directly into future arcs involving forbidden magic, reincarnation, devils, and the hidden history of the world itself. The arc also strengthens relationships between many characters. Gauche begins accepting the Black Bulls as genuine comrades. Noelle becomes increasingly protective of Asta while struggling with jealousy involving Rebecca. Finral proves his value beyond combat strength through rescue and support. Asta himself matures significantly by learning to trust allies and fight strategically instead of charging recklessly alone. By the end of the arc, the Clover Kingdom realizes the Eye of the Midnight Sun is not a minor criminal organization but a national-level threat capable of rivaling the Magic Knights directly. The captains, Wizard King, and Black Bulls all begin preparing for a much larger conflict approaching in the future. At this stage of the story, the Eye of the Midnight Sun Encounter Arc represents the transition from localized adventures into a full-scale supernatural conflict involving ancient history, ideological war, forbidden magic, and the hidden darkness beneath the Clover Kingdom's society. It is the arc where Black Clover's world begins expanding far beyond simple Magic Knight rivalries into a much larger and more dangerous narrative.
- #30Asta

Asta is a short teenage boy with exceptionally muscular build. He has emerald green eyes and messy grey hair with bangs in front of his forehead and a single strand protruding upwards from the center of his head. Asta's common outfit consists of a plain-white tunic with a V-shaped collar underneath a dark blue jacket whose sleeves extend only up to his elbows. He sports a pair of matching shorts which has a stitch marks on the left side. His pants also extends just below his knees. His shoes are made out of two different cloths, the parts covering his ankles, the soles the same color as his jacket and pants. The parts covering his toes are white, a vertical stitch mark going from the bridge to his toes.
Asta is a loud, energetic, and fiercely determined orphan raised in Hage Village alongside his foster brother and rival, Yuno. In a world where nearly everyone possesses magic, Asta was born completely without mana, making him an object of ridicule, disbelief, and discrimination throughout much of his childhood.
Despite this impossible disadvantage, Asta refuses to abandon his dream of becoming the Wizard King. To compensate for his lack of magic, he undergoes extreme physical training from a young age, developing abnormal strength, endurance, speed, and pain tolerance. His body is heavily scarred from years of relentless exercise and combat practice.
Asta tends to shout constantly when expressing his emotions, goals, or convictions. Many people initially view him as reckless, annoying, naive, or overly optimistic. However, beneath his noisy personality lies deep insecurity about his lack of magic and fear of being useless. His loud confidence often acts as self-motivation against years of rejection and mockery.
During the grimoire ceremony at age fifteen, Asta initially fails to receive a grimoire. Shortly afterward, while protecting Yuno from the rogue mage Revchi Salik, Asta awakens a mysterious five-leaf clover grimoire containing Anti-Magic swords capable of negating magical power itself.
Unlike ordinary magic, Anti-Magic does not cast elemental spells or generate mana-based attacks. Instead, it erases, deflects, cuts through, or nullifies magical effects. Because Asta possesses no mana, he can wield Anti-Magic weapons without suffering the harmful side effects that would affect normal mages.
At the beginning of the series, Asta primarily fights through raw athleticism, instinct, reckless aggression, and unconventional sword combat. He lacks refinement, tactical experience, and magical knowledge, often relying on sheer determination and refusal to surrender even against overwhelmingly stronger opponents.
Asta deeply values loyalty, honesty, hard work, and merit over social class or noble bloodlines. He becomes enraged by discrimination against peasants and commoners, especially when nobles abuse their status or mock weaker people. His straightforward sincerity and refusal to give up gradually inspire allies and even former enemies.
After the Magic Knights Entrance Exam, Yami Sukehiro recruits Asta into the Black Bulls despite widespread disbelief that a magicless peasant could become a Magic Knight. Within the squad, Asta begins developing friendships, combat experience, and a growing understanding of the larger political and supernatural threats facing the Clover Kingdom.
At this stage of the story, Asta is still inexperienced, impulsive, and emotionally immature, but his indomitable will, physical prowess, and Anti-Magic abilities make him a uniquely disruptive force in a world entirely built around mana.
- #31Yuno

Full Name: Yuno Grinberryall Yuno is a young man of average height with messy black hair, gold eyes and he has a lean build. He is described and seen by others as a handsome guy, with Asta nicknaming him "pretty jerk" and once called so by Yami Sukehiro later on in the battlefield. According to Ralph Niaflem, Yuno is the spitting image of his mother Ciel Grinberryall.
Yuno is a calm, talented, and highly disciplined orphan raised in Hage Village alongside his foster brother and rival, Asta. Unlike Asta, Yuno possesses extraordinary magical talent that becomes obvious from a very young age. Despite his quiet demeanor, he shares the same dream as Asta: becoming the Wizard King.
At the beginning of the series, Yuno is known for his exceptional mana reserves, natural combat instincts, and unusually refined control over Wind Magic. During the grimoire acceptance ceremony, he receives a rare four-leaf clover grimoire, a symbol traditionally associated with immense talent and exceptional luck. Many people immediately begin viewing him as a future prodigy of the Clover Kingdom.
Yuno rarely displays strong outward emotion and usually speaks in short, blunt sentences. His calm expression and detached attitude often make him appear cold, arrogant, or emotionally distant. In reality, he is deeply loyal to the people he cares about and takes his rivalry with Asta extremely seriously. Although he rarely says it openly, Yuno respects Asta more than almost anyone else and becomes angered when others mock or underestimate him.
As a child, Yuno was timid and frequently cried when bullied or threatened. After witnessing Asta defend him despite having no magic, Yuno developed a stronger sense of determination and resolved to stop relying on others to protect him. This moment became the foundation of both his ambition and his lifelong rivalry with Asta.
Yuno's combat style is precise, fast, and efficient. Unlike Asta's reckless aggression, Yuno prefers calculated attacks, tactical positioning, ranged combat, and battlefield awareness. His Wind Magic grants him exceptional mobility, sharp offensive spells, and heightened mana sensitivity that allows him to detect surrounding mana flows more effectively than most mages.
Although many nobles and Magic Knights admire Yuno's talent, some distrust or resent him because he is a commoner from the Forsaken Realm. Even after joining the prestigious Golden Dawn squad, several members initially believe someone of peasant origin does not deserve such a rare grimoire or powerful magic. Yuno largely ignores insults and focuses entirely on improving his strength and reputation.
At the beginning of the story, Yuno is already considered one of the most promising young mages of his generation. However, despite his natural talent and rapid growth, his rivalry with Asta constantly pushes him to train harder and surpass his own limits rather than relying purely on gifted ability.
The overall atmosphere surrounding Yuno early in the series combines prodigious talent, quiet intensity, emotional restraint, hidden kindness, fierce rivalry, and the pressure of overwhelming expectations placed upon a young mage destined for greatness.

Keys: Noelle, Noelle Silva

Noelle Silva is a young royal of the Clover Kingdom's House Silva and a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad. Born into one of the kingdom's most prestigious royal families, Noelle possesses enormous magical power and exceptional latent talent in Water Magic. However, at the beginning of the series, she suffers from severe difficulty controlling her mana, causing many of her spells to spiral out of control or explode unpredictably.
Because of her royal upbringing, Noelle initially appears arrogant, prideful, emotionally guarded, and dismissive toward commoners. She frequently boasts about her noble status and struggles to admit weakness, embarrassment, or affection openly. Her speech often carries a sharp, defensive tone, especially when she feels emotionally vulnerable or insecure.
Beneath her pride, however, Noelle carries deep emotional trauma and an intense inferiority complex caused by years of rejection from her own family. Her siblings constantly belittled and humiliated her due to her inability to control her magic and blamed her for the death of their mother, Acier Silva. As a result, Noelle developed severe self-doubt despite her overwhelming magical potential.
Unlike many nobles, Noelle gradually begins questioning the rigid class hierarchy of the Clover Kingdom after joining the Black Bulls. Exposure to commoners such as Asta and Magna forces her to confront her prejudices and insecurities. Although she initially struggles to understand or accept people beneath her social rank, the Black Bulls become the first group to genuinely support her rather than ridicule her failures.
At the beginning of the story, Noelle's magic is extremely powerful but dangerously unstable. Her attacks often miss targets or unleash excessive destructive force. Despite this, defensive spells connected to protecting others show far greater precision and control, revealing her natural instinct to shield allies and civilians from harm. Her strongest emotional growth occurs when she fights not for pride or recognition, but to protect people she cares about.
Noelle shares a complicated relationship with Asta. She is initially irritated by his loud personality, peasant background, and reckless behavior, yet she is also deeply affected by his unwavering belief in her abilities. Asta openly acknowledges her strength long before she can believe in herself, creating feelings she struggles to understand or express honestly. Her embarrassment frequently manifests as denial, anger, or aggressive outbursts whenever her emotions become obvious.
In combat, Noelle relies on overwhelming mana output, ranged water attacks, and raw magical force rather than refined technique. Although inexperienced and emotionally unstable early on, her magical potential rivals elite royal mages. Even veteran Magic Knights recognize that if she ever gains full control over her power, she could become extraordinarily dangerous on the battlefield.
At this stage of the series, Noelle is emotionally conflicted, insecure, and still shaped by noble arrogance, but beneath her harsh exterior she possesses genuine kindness, strong protective instincts, and the desire to earn acknowledgment through her own strength rather than her family name.
Noelle is a young woman with a slender build and pink eyes. She possesses long, silver-colored hair, which is usually tied in pigtails, with her center bangs over her forehead. Additionally, she wears a pair of purple stud earrings with a cross flory fitchy shape, and a silver bracelet on her left wrist.
Noelle wears a sleeveless, backless, short purple dress covered by a silver-colored blazer. The blazer has a backless design with sleeves attached at the back that extend slightly beyond her elbows with gold-colored cuffs. The blazer also has a pair of House Silva pins attached to it around her collarbone area. Additionally, it has frilly edges and a rounded tailcoat that extends down to her knees. Furthermore, the blazer extends up to her neck where it has frilly edges and is held together by a gold locket. She wears a brown leather belt that supports her pouch, which has a similar color and gold ornaments at its corners. The pouch hangs on her right side, and contains her grimoire. She also wears a pair of silver-colored leg warmers with a gold-colored cuff at both ends and a pair of sandals.
- #33Yami
Keys: Yami, Black Bulls,

Yami Sukehiro is the captain of the Black Bulls, one of the Magic Knight squads of the Clover Kingdom. Despite leading the kingdom's most notoriously destructive and disorderly squad, Yami is widely respected as an extraordinarily powerful mage and veteran warrior. His intimidating presence, immense physical strength, and overwhelming Dark Magic make even experienced Magic Knights wary of provoking him.
Yami is a foreigner who arrived in the Clover Kingdom from a distant eastern land after being stranded overseas as a teenager. Because of his unusual appearance, foreign mannerisms, katana fighting style, and rare Dark Magic attribute, many people within the Clover Kingdom initially viewed him with suspicion and prejudice. These experiences strongly shaped his disregard for noble status and social hierarchy.
At the beginning of the series, Yami is crude, aggressive, foul-mouthed, and highly intimidating. He frequently threatens violence, solves problems through brute force, and shows little concern for proper etiquette or military discipline. His squad headquarters is chaotic, partially destroyed, and filled with social outcasts that no other Magic Knight squads were willing to accept. Despite this reckless atmosphere, Yami possesses sharp combat instincts, strong tactical judgment, and a surprisingly perceptive understanding of people.
Yami strongly believes that true growth occurs when people are forced into desperate situations. He regularly pushes his subordinates into dangerous battles and impossible circumstances, often telling them to "surpass their limits" during life-threatening moments. While his methods appear brutal and irresponsible, he genuinely believes in the potential of his squad members even when society labels them as failures, criminals, peasants, or unstable mages.
Unlike many nobles and captains, Yami does not judge people based on birth, status, or reputation. He recruits individuals rejected by other squads, including Asta for having no magic, Noelle Silva for lacking control over her power, and Luck Voltia for his dangerous battle obsession. Yami values determination, instinct, courage, and combat ability far more than noble blood or political standing.
In combat, Yami combines Dark Magic, swordsmanship, immense physical strength, and advanced ki sensing. His fighting style is direct, devastating, and highly lethal. Dark Magic possesses unusual properties capable of interacting with dimensions, curses, and supernatural forces in ways normal magic often cannot. Yami's ability to sense ki allows him to predict movements, detect hostility, and react to attacks beyond ordinary perception.
Although Yami often appears lazy, selfish, or emotionally detached, he is deeply protective of the Black Bulls and becomes extremely dangerous when his squad members are threatened. He rarely expresses affection openly, but his actions consistently show trust and loyalty toward his subordinates. Many members of the Black Bulls view him as both a terrifying captain and a mentor figure who gave them a place to belong when nobody else would accept them.
At this stage of the story, Yami serves as one of the Clover Kingdom's strongest captains and an important mentor to Asta. His philosophy of overcoming limits, combined with his disregard for social status and unconventional leadership style, heavily influences the growth and identity of the Black Bulls throughout the early series.
Yami is a tall man with a very muscular build. He has grey eyes and black hair of medium length that is messily combed backward, making it stick outwards. Additionally, he sports a stubble mustache and beard.
Yami's attire is very simple and consists only of a white A-shirt and black trousers. The trousers have an extra layer of tan leather that covers his outer thighs and down to his knees. The trousers are only supported by a belt around his waist. Yami wears another pair of belts, one of which he uses to carry his grimoire. Lastly, he wears black high boots that cover most of his calves.
As the captain of the Black Bull squad, Yami wears a black banner with the squad's insignia on it. He wears it over his right shoulder and it is attached by two strings to his left shoulder. The banner also has tattered edges, seeming to have been ripped off from a bigger banner. After six months of training, Yami's black banner is now longer to where he now wears it over his right shoulder and under his left arm in a cape-like fashion.

William Vangeance is the captain of the Golden Dawn, the Clover Kingdom's most prestigious and highest-ranked Magic Knight squad. Calm, elegant, and highly respected, William is widely considered one of the kingdom's strongest captains and one of the people closest to potentially becoming the next Wizard King. His squad is famous for producing exceptionally talented mages and maintaining an almost flawless public reputation.
William is known for his gentle demeanor, quiet charisma, and mysterious presence. He speaks politely, rarely raises his voice, and treats both nobles and commoners with unusual fairness compared to many high-ranking Magic Knights. His subordinates are deeply loyal to him and view him as an inspiring leader rather than a distant authority figure. Despite his kindness, William often gives the impression that he is hiding deeper thoughts and burdens beneath his calm smile.
At the beginning of the series, William almost always conceals the upper half of his face behind an elaborate mask gifted to him by Julius Novachrono. Beneath the mask lies a large scar caused by a hereditary curse tied to his mother's bloodline. During childhood, William was feared and mistreated because of his appearance, including abuse within noble society after being brought into his father's household. These experiences shaped his quiet empathy toward people rejected by society.
William possesses the rare attribute World Tree Magic, allowing him to create and manipulate enormous magical trees and roots capable of absorbing mana, restraining enemies, defending allies, and supporting large-scale battlefield operations. His magic is exceptionally versatile and suited for both offense and support. The sheer scale of his spells demonstrates captain-level mana reserves and refined control.
Unlike Yami Sukehiro's aggressive leadership style, William leads through trust, composure, and inspiration. The Golden Dawn reflects his ideals of discipline, excellence, and unity. However, his preference for diplomacy and restraint can sometimes make him appear emotionally distant or difficult to fully understand.
William shares a long history with Julius Novachrono and Yami Sukehiro. Julius was one of the first people to genuinely accept William despite his scarred appearance, causing William to develop immense loyalty and admiration toward the Wizard King. Meanwhile, William and Yami maintain a quiet rivalry as fellow captains recruited during the same era.
During the Magic Knights Entrance Exam, William immediately notices Asta's unusual physical ability and later recognizes Yuno's extraordinary magical talent. Like several captains, he attempts to recruit Yuno into the Golden Dawn, seeing immense potential in the young wind mage despite his peasant origins. Unlike many nobles within the squad, William does not judge Yuno based on social class.
Although William appears composed and noble on the surface, there is an undercurrent of melancholy and inner conflict surrounding him. His reserved behavior, hidden past, and mysterious connection to events unfolding within the Clover Kingdom create an atmosphere of uncertainty around his true thoughts and motivations.
At this stage of the story, William is viewed publicly as the ideal Magic Knight captain: powerful, graceful, respected, and devoted to protecting the kingdom. However, beneath that reputation lies a deeply conflicted individual struggling with loyalty, identity, and painful emotional burdens tied to both his past and the future of the Clover Kingdom.
William is a man with an average height and a lean build. He has purple eyes and short white hair. Due to a curse placed on his mother's family, William's face features a large scar that stretches from his nose upwards and covers the entire upper half of his face.[9][10] While under the effects of Gordon's Curse-Worker's Neighbor spell, his hair grows long and his eyes turn gold.
William wears a helmet that also functions as a mask that obscures the upper half of his face. The mask is very elaborate, and is made up of a large gold piece covering the area around his right eye, and a smaller blue piece covering the area around his left eye. The helmet has white and red patches of fur on the back edge, and two white feathers that stick up on the left side. The right eye hole has a red border outline, with two lines sticking out on both the top and bottom halves, while the left eye hole has the same design, except white-colored with slightly longer lines. The mask is said to be very extravagant because it was crafted by Julius Novachrono. William also wears a double-breasted and long-sleeved shirt with a high collar. The shirt itself consists of two different colors, as it is white at the sides and blue in the center. Gold trimmings and buttons can be seen on the blue portion of the front of the shirt. The sleeves are mostly made of white fabric, except for the wrist area where they are made of a yellowish fabric. The shirt extends below William's waist and he wears a dark belt on top of it. He also wears white pants and a pair of high black boots.

Nozel Silva is the captain of the Silver Eagles, one of the Clover Kingdom's elite Magic Knight squads, and the eldest son of the royal House Silva. As both a royal and a captain, Nozel is regarded as one of the kingdom's most powerful and influential Magic Knights. His immense magical power, refined combat ability, and strict leadership style have earned him widespread respect among nobles and military officials.
At the beginning of the series, Nozel appears cold, arrogant, and emotionally distant. Like many royals, he openly looks down on peasants and commoners, believing noble bloodlines naturally produce superior mages. He carries himself with extreme pride and expects perfection from both himself and those associated with House Silva. Failure, weakness, and public embarrassment are things he considers disgraceful.
Nozel is especially harsh toward his younger sister, Noelle Silva. He constantly criticizes her inability to control her magic and publicly humiliates her alongside their siblings, Solid and Nebra. To outsiders, his treatment appears cruel and emotionally abusive. However, beneath his hostility lies deep unresolved grief and fear connected to the death of their mother, Acier Silva. Nozel struggles to express care openly and instead distances himself emotionally from Noelle because she strongly resembles their mother.
Unlike many arrogant nobles, Nozel takes his duties as a Magic Knight captain extremely seriously. He prioritizes the protection of the Clover Kingdom above personal pride and possesses strong battlefield leadership skills. During national crises, he demonstrates discipline, strategic thinking, and a willingness to cooperate with other captains despite personal rivalries or political tensions.
Nozel possesses Mercury Magic, a rare and highly versatile attribute that allows him to create and manipulate liquid mercury into weapons, shields, constructs, restraints, and large-scale defensive formations. His magic is precise, adaptive, and difficult to predict, making him exceptionally dangerous in both offense and defense. The fluid nature of mercury allows him to rapidly change tactics during battle while maintaining high-speed attacks and layered defenses simultaneously.
In combat, Nozel favors calculated attacks, overwhelming magical pressure, and refined control rather than reckless aggression. He maintains a composed demeanor during battle and rarely underestimates dangerous opponents. Even among Magic Knight captains, his mana reserves and magical precision are considered extraordinary.
Nozel shares a long-standing rivalry with Fuegoleon Vermillion, another respected royal captain. Their competition reflects the tension between House Silva and House Vermillion, two of the Clover Kingdom's most influential royal families. Although prideful and confrontational, Nozel respects strength and competence when proven on the battlefield.
At the beginning of the story, Nozel represents many of the flaws within Clover Kingdom nobility: arrogance, elitism, emotional repression, and prejudice toward commoners. However, beneath his severe exterior exists a deeply burdened individual shaped by trauma, responsibility, and fear of losing the people closest to him. His eventual development revolves around confronting these emotional failures and learning to genuinely acknowledge the strength of others, especially Noelle.
Nozel Silva is a slender male with fair skin, narrow purple eyes, and small eyebrows. He has pale, silver-white hair worn in a very distinctive style that is occasionally remarked upon by other characters. He keeps his hair long and straight at the lower back, the top and upper side portions of his hair are heavily styled and swept back into a long spiky fringe. His long bangs are styled into a braid that hangs between his eyes and down to the tip of the nose, where a small House Silva pendant is attached.
Nozel wears the same style of clothing as the rest of his siblings: a loose fitting shirt with a high collar that is kept closed at the top by a gold band but is left open below to expose his collarbone. He also wears loose pants, with tight bands just below the knee, and flimsy sandals. In addition, Nozel wears the typical robe of his order, the Silver Eagles.

Charlotte Roselei is the captain of the Blue Rose squad of the Magic Knights and a noblewoman from House Roselei. Known throughout the Clover Kingdom as an exceptionally beautiful and powerful captain, Charlotte maintains a cold, disciplined, and intimidating public image. She rarely displays emotion openly and carries herself with the composure and authority expected of a high-ranking noble and military leader.
At the beginning of the series, Charlotte appears stern, emotionally distant, and highly professional. She prioritizes duty, battlefield performance, and the protection of the Clover Kingdom above social relationships or personal comfort. Unlike more expressive captains, Charlotte usually remains calm and reserved even during chaotic situations, preferring controlled action over emotional reactions.
Charlotte commands the Blue Rose squad, a Magic Knight squad composed almost entirely of women. The squad possesses a strong sense of pride and often views men with distrust or disdain. Charlotte herself outwardly claims that the battlefield is her only true love and usually rejects romance or emotional vulnerability. However, this composure frequently breaks down around Yami Sukehiro, toward whom she secretly harbors deep romantic feelings. Whenever Yami teases or unexpectedly helps her, Charlotte becomes flustered, embarrassed, or internally panicked despite trying desperately to maintain her calm image.
Charlotte possesses Briar Magic, which allows her to create and manipulate massive thorn-covered vines and briars for attack, defense, restraint, and battlefield control. Her magic is highly effective at restricting enemy movement, protecting allies, and overwhelming opponents through large-scale area domination. The dense and aggressive nature of her briars reflects both her noble elegance and the emotional barriers she places between herself and others.
Before becoming a captain, Charlotte suffered from a powerful curse placed upon her during childhood. The curse caused her briar magic to spiral out of control and threatened both her life and the people around her. Yami Sukehiro ultimately intervened and helped stop the catastrophe, unintentionally becoming the person who broke through Charlotte's emotional isolation. Although the curse itself was not fully removed, the event permanently changed Charlotte and became the source of her feelings toward Yami.
Unlike many arrogant nobles, Charlotte takes her responsibilities as a captain seriously and responds quickly during emergencies or military crises. She values discipline, competence, and loyalty from her squad members and dislikes reckless or disorderly behavior. Although emotionally reserved, she genuinely cares for her subordinates and acts decisively to protect civilians and fellow Magic Knights during attacks on the kingdom.
Charlotte also deeply respects Julius Novachrono and the ideals of the Magic Knights. While she can appear emotionally detached, she is far more compassionate and honorable than many other nobles within the Clover Kingdom. Her struggle mainly comes from balancing her strict self-control and noble image against emotions she finds difficult to understand or express openly.
At this stage of the story, Charlotte embodies the image of the perfect noble captain: graceful, disciplined, elegant, and powerful. Beneath that refined exterior, however, she is emotionally awkward, secretly insecure about her feelings, and constantly fighting to maintain composure whenever her carefully controlled emotions begin slipping through the cracks.
Charlotte is a tall woman with upper-back length blonde hair that is braided as she usually keeps her hair tied back into a bun with only a single lone braid hanging down on the left side of her face while she has bangs swept to the left side, light blue eyes with visible long eyelashes and full pink lips. Her beauty is renowned throughout the Clover Kingdom and she is rated as the most beautiful woman—when not wearing her helmet.[6]
Charlotte's usual attire is a set of armor. She wears a fancy decorated helmet that has a single fin protruding from the top, resembling a shark fin. For her top, she wears a black one piece undershirt, which extends out to her hands and act as sleeveless gloves. On top of that, she wears a decorated armored breastplate, an armored collar plate, as well as gauntlets on her arms. For her bottom, she wears a short blue skirt, which is visible underneath a longer leather-like skirt that is open on the front. Her white trousers are tucked into her thigh-high black socks, which have leather cuffs at the ends. She wears shin armor as well as armored boots. Her grimoire is stored inside a brown leather pouch that is attached to a strap on her waist on her right side. She finishes off her look with a long, flowing blue cape that reaches down to her ankles, along with the Blue Rose robe, secured at the center of her chest with a buckle that shows their squad's insignia.

Mereoleona Vermillion is a royal noblewoman of House Vermillion and the eldest sibling of Fuegoleon and Leopold Vermillion. Feared throughout the Clover Kingdom as the "Uncrowned Undefeated Lioness," Mereoleona is considered one of the most terrifying and overwhelmingly powerful Magic Knights alive. Her immense magical power, monstrous physical strength, and savage combat instincts make even veteran captains nervous around her. Unlike most royals, Mereoleona despises politics, ceremony, and aristocratic arrogance. She spends most of her time deep within dangerous wilderness regions, volcanic zones, and Grand Magic Regions where natural mana is dense and hostile. Rather than training through formal military methods, she constantly pushes herself through survival, combat against monsters, and near-death experiences in extreme environments. This lifestyle gives her abnormal durability, sharpened instincts, and tremendous familiarity with natural mana. At the beginning of the series, Mereoleona is loud, aggressive, fearless, and brutally straightforward. She speaks with overwhelming confidence and often uses intimidation or physical force to motivate others. Many people initially see her as wild, reckless, or impossible to control. However, beneath her violent demeanor lies sharp intuition, battlefield intelligence, and a surprisingly deep understanding of personal growth and human potential. Mereoleona respects strength, determination, and effort above social status or noble blood. Unlike many nobles, she openly acknowledges talented commoners and has little patience for people who rely solely on birthright or reputation. She frequently pushes weaker individuals into extreme situations specifically to force them to grow stronger. Her philosophy revolves around surpassing limits through direct struggle rather than comfort or excuses. Mereoleona possesses incredibly powerful Fire Magic specialized for overwhelming close-range combat, explosive destructive force, and overwhelming mana pressure. Her fighting style resembles a wild predator more than a traditional noble mage. She combines physical martial combat with immense flames, often charging directly into battle against multiple powerful opponents simultaneously. Her mana output is so intense that weaker opponents can become paralyzed or intimidated simply by standing near her. Although terrifying, Mereoleona is also an inspiring figure capable of forcing hidden potential out of others. She becomes an important mentor figure to characters like Asta, Leopold, and Noelle Silva. Toward Noelle especially, Mereoleona acts far more supportive than most nobles, encouraging her to surpass both her insecurities and the expectations placed upon her family name. Mereoleona deeply respected Noelle's mother, Acier Silva, and frequently compares Noelle's growth to her mother's strength. Mereoleona also shares a complicated but respectful relationship with Yami Sukehiro. The two frequently argue and provoke one another, yet both acknowledge the other's immense strength and warrior mentality. Their interactions are loud, chaotic, and intimidating to nearly everyone nearby. Despite her frightening reputation, Mereoleona possesses strong leadership qualities and genuine loyalty toward the Crimson Lion squad and the Clover Kingdom. When Fuegoleon becomes incapacitated, she immediately assumes command without hesitation and leads elite operations personally from the front lines. She expects absolute determination from her subordinates and has little tolerance for cowardice or self-pity. At this stage of the story, Mereoleona represents raw natural power, relentless self-improvement, and fearless combat instinct taken to their extreme. She embodies the idea that true strength is forged through hardship, survival, and the refusal to ever stop surpassing one's limits. Mereoleona is a woman with blue eyes and long, wavy vermilion colored hair. Like her brothers, she has red markings around her eyes, and like Leopold, she has one sharp, pronounced canine tooth. Mereoleona's attire consists of a white tunic, covered by a long, dark blue shirt with long sleeves and high collar. The shirt is decorated with fabric with vertical stripes design on its edges and collar and along the sleeves, which she keeps rolled up to her elbows. In order to keep the shirt together, she wears a purple sash around her waist. She wears white trousers. On top of her attire, she wears a long red cape.

Jack the Ripper is the captain of the Green Mantis squad of the Magic Knights and a former commoner who rose to one of the highest military positions within the Clover Kingdom. Unlike many noble captains, Jack comes from the Common Realm, making his status as a captain both unusual and intimidating within the kingdom's rigid social hierarchy. At the beginning of the series, Jack is infamous for his violent personality, constant bloodthirsty grin, and obsession with fighting powerful opponents. He openly enjoys combat and frequently talks about wanting to "slash" strong enemies apart. His behavior is chaotic, aggressive, and deeply unsettling even to fellow Magic Knights. He often runs his tongue along the blades created by his magic, further reinforcing his reputation as a dangerous and unstable individual. Despite his erratic behavior, Jack is an extremely skilled and experienced captain respected for his combat ability. He possesses Slash Magic, an attribute that allows him to generate razor-sharp magical blades from his body, particularly his arms. The most dangerous aspect of his magic is its ability to adapt during battle. As Jack continues fighting an opponent, his blades gradually evolve to cut through increasingly difficult forms of magic, defenses, and even unusual abilities that would normally be impossible to sever. Jack's combat style is savage, relentless, and highly aggressive. He prefers close-range combat, overwhelming pressure, and nonstop attacks designed to tear through enemy defenses before they can react. Unlike elegant noble captains who fight with refinement and composure, Jack battles more like a wild predator obsessed with hunting strong prey. However, beneath his madness lies sharp battlefield instinct and surprisingly effective tactical adaptation. Although crude and violent, Jack respects strength above all else regardless of social class or background. Having risen from commoner origins himself, he places greater value on combat ability and determination than noble blood. This mindset heavily influences the Green Mantis squad, which recruits many rough, aggressive, or unconventional Magic Knights. Jack frequently clashes with other captains, especially Yami Sukehiro. The two share similarly violent personalities, commoner origins, and aggressive leadership styles, causing their interactions to devolve into insults, threats, and open rivalry. Despite this hostility, both captains acknowledge each other's strength and combat instincts. Unlike captains motivated by politics, honor, or royal duty, Jack is primarily driven by the thrill of battle and the desire to cut down increasingly powerful enemies. However, he still fulfills his responsibilities as a captain and actively participates in defending the Clover Kingdom during major crises. At this stage of the story, Jack represents violent ambition, predatory combat instinct, and the idea that overwhelming strength can emerge even from the kingdom's lower classes. His presence creates an atmosphere of danger, unpredictability, intimidation, and barely controlled bloodlust whenever he enters a battlefield. Jack is a tall, lean man with gold eyes and loose, medium-length black hair. On the left side of his face, he has a thin, red scar (or birthmark) running from his forehead down to his chin, passing over his left eye and ends at the left side of his mouth. He possesses very sharp facial features, such as sharp eyes and a slit-like mouth. Jack wears a light green shirt that only covers the upper half of his torso, leaving his abs uncovered. He wears form-fitting black pants, with green portions (the same green color as his shirt) that cover from the halfway point of his shin up to the halfway point of his thigh on both legs. He wears shoes with the same green color as his shirt. Jack wears two small wristbands on each wrist, and two straps on his waist that cross together to form an x on his front, which carries the pouch that his grimoire is in. He wears his Green Mantis robe on top of everything, which has four long leather strands that drape down.

Dorothy Unsworth is the captain of the Coral Peacock squad of the Magic Knights and a witch originally from the Witches' Forest. Despite holding the prestigious rank of captain, Dorothy is famous throughout the Clover Kingdom for constantly sleeping, often remaining asleep during meetings, ceremonies, and even tense political discussions. Strangely, she still appears aware of her surroundings while asleep and is capable of reacting to important events without fully waking up. At the beginning of the series, Dorothy is mysterious, whimsical, and difficult to understand. Most people know very little about her because she rarely participates openly in conversations and spends much of her time silent or unconscious. Her sleeping habits cause many people to underestimate her seriousness as a captain, though experienced Magic Knights recognize her as an extremely dangerous and highly capable mage. When awake, Dorothy's personality contrasts sharply with her sleepy appearance. She becomes cheerful, energetic, playful, and emotionally expressive, often behaving with a carefree "big sister" attitude. She enjoys teasing people, especially when discussing romance, emotions, or embarrassing topics. Beneath her playful behavior, however, Dorothy is highly intelligent, observant, and knowledgeable about curses, devils, and hidden magical phenomena that many others do not fully understand. Dorothy possesses Dream Magic, an extremely unusual and powerful attribute that allows her to create and manipulate a dream dimension known as Glamour World. Inside this dream realm, Dorothy can manifest nearly anything she imagines, including creatures, landscapes, weapons, and copies of people. The environment itself obeys dream-like logic rather than normal physical laws, making battles inside Glamour World highly unpredictable and psychologically dangerous. One of the most frightening aspects of Dorothy's magic is her ability to pull other people into Glamour World, trapping them inside a space completely controlled by her imagination. Because the world responds to thoughts and emotions, Dorothy can even manifest things drawn from another person's subconscious mind. Her magic specializes in confusion, battlefield control, mental pressure, and overwhelming unpredictability rather than direct brute force. Unlike aggressive captains such as Yami or Jack, Dorothy rarely displays hostility or bloodlust. Even during combat, she often behaves with curiosity, amusement, or childlike excitement. However, this playful demeanor hides immense magical power and a dangerously flexible ability capable of overwhelming opponents who underestimate her. Many Magic Knights consider her abilities among the most troublesome and difficult to counter. Dorothy originally fled the Witches' Forest and later became a Magic Knight captain within the Clover Kingdom. Although the details surrounding her departure remain mysterious early in the story, her unusual background gives her knowledge and perspectives uncommon among ordinary Clover Kingdom nobles and captains. She appears especially knowledgeable regarding curses and forbidden magic connected to devils. At this stage of the story, Dorothy embodies mystery, surreal magic, hidden intelligence, and deceptive unpredictability. Her sleepy and harmless appearance causes many people to lower their guard, only to discover that beneath her dreamy personality lies one of the Clover Kingdom's most bizarre and dangerous captains. Dorothy is a petite young woman with lilac hair and fair skin. Dorothy wears a pointed hat with a wide brim and a garland of natural flowers wrapped around the cone's base. Her outer cloak is clasped by a flower-shaped brooch. The cloak layers so that her insignia is on the cloak of her cape. Beneath her cloak, she wears a light-colored shirt with puffy sleeves that end just past her elbows, light-colored puffy short pants, and a dark-colored vest that has light-colored fur draping down over her hips. Her shoes are pointed and colored in contrast with a deeper shade of her squad's color.

Rill Boismortier is the captain of the Aqua Deer squad of the Magic Knights and the youngest person in Clover Kingdom history to become a captain. Despite his age, Rill possesses immense magical talent, extraordinary creativity, and highly unpredictable Painting Magic capable of reproducing countless forms of elemental and construct-based spells. His appointment by Julius Novachrono is viewed as proof of his overwhelming natural genius. At the beginning of the series, Rill behaves more like an excitable artist than a military captain. He is energetic, childish, emotional, and easily distracted whenever something inspires his imagination. Painting and artistic expression consume most of his attention, often causing him to neglect paperwork, meetings, or captain responsibilities entirely. Rather than focusing on rank, discipline, or noble etiquette, Rill is obsessed with creating what he considers the "ultimate masterpiece." Unlike many nobles and captains, Rill does not care about social status or bloodline superiority. He judges people almost entirely based on whether they inspire his artistic curiosity. Powerful magic, unusual abilities, emotional intensity, and dramatic battles fascinate him deeply. When encountering strong opponents or impressive spells, he often becomes visibly excited and immediately begins imagining new paintings and magical creations. Rill possesses Painting Magic, an extremely versatile attribute that allows him to paint almost anything into existence using magical paintbrushes and mana-infused artwork. Through his paintings, he can create elemental attacks, giant monsters, weapons, environmental effects, defensive barriers, and complex magical constructs. His magic is limited mainly by his imagination, concentration, and emotional inspiration rather than strict elemental rules. Because of this flexibility, many Magic Knights consider his attribute one of the most unpredictable and dangerous forms of magic in the Clover Kingdom. In combat, Rill fights like an artist rapidly improvising new creations rather than following fixed strategies. His spells can shift unpredictably between offense, defense, support, and battlefield manipulation. He often becomes emotionally absorbed in the beauty or excitement of battle itself, sometimes getting distracted admiring his own creations or an opponent's magic in the middle of combat. Although this behavior appears immature, it also makes him difficult to predict. Despite his playful personality, Rill possesses captain-level mana reserves and exceptional magical control. Many older Magic Knights underestimate him due to his youth and childish behavior, only to discover that his raw magical power and adaptability rival veteran captains. His talent is especially frightening because he is still far younger and less experienced than most captains, meaning his potential for future growth is enormous. Rill dislikes dark or tense atmospheres and frequently attempts to lighten conversations through jokes, impressions, or childish behavior. Unfortunately, his attempts at humor often annoy or confuse the people around him. Beneath his carefree attitude, however, Rill genuinely values emotional connection and artistic understanding. His desire to create meaningful art is closely tied to understanding other people's emotions, struggles, and strengths. At this stage of the story, Rill embodies youthful genius, artistic obsession, emotional spontaneity, and limitless creative potential. His presence creates an atmosphere of unpredictability, colorful chaos, explosive imagination, and hidden overwhelming power lurking beneath playful childishness. Rill is a young man with spiky, aqua-colored hair in a messy mound atop his head. He wears a light-colored shirt under a dark blue vest that is held closed by a bronze-colored belt. His dark blue pants end halfway down his shins, and his shoes are bronze-colored slippers. Over this, he wears a long, white open coat with two pairs of large, turquoise diamonds on the front and on the sleeves. His squad robe has a dark blue tassel of diamonds hanging from the front clasp.

Gueldre Poizot is the captain of the Purple Orca squad of the Magic Knights and one of the most politically questionable captains within the Clover Kingdom. Unlike captains driven by honor, justice, or military pride, Gueldre is heavily motivated by wealth, influence, personal status, and self-preservation. Although publicly respected due to his rank and authority, many rumors circulate regarding corruption, black-market dealings, and unethical behavior connected to him and the Purple Orca squad. At the beginning of the series, Gueldre appears arrogant, greedy, smug, and deeply self-interested. He enjoys flaunting his position as captain and often looks down on peasants and lower-ranking Magic Knights. Unlike captains who willingly risk themselves for the kingdom, Gueldre prefers avoiding danger whenever possible unless personal gain is involved. Despite this cowardly tendency, he is cunning, manipulative, and highly skilled at exploiting information and political connections for profit. Gueldre possesses Permeation Magic, an unusual attribute that allows him to become invisible and intangible to many forms of magic. His abilities specialize in stealth, infiltration, evasion, espionage, and battlefield confusion rather than direct destructive power. Through Creation Magic, he can additionally generate invisible constructs and soldiers capable of attacking opponents without warning. Because most enemies cannot easily detect his presence, Gueldre is extremely difficult to track or restrain during combat. Rather than fighting honorably, Gueldre prefers deception, escape tactics, hidden attacks, and manipulating situations from the shadows. He relies heavily on surprise, confusion, and his opponent's inability to perceive him properly. This makes him particularly effective for smuggling, information gathering, sabotage, and illegal dealings. His magic reflects his personality: elusive, opportunistic, and difficult to fully trust. Unlike more disciplined squads such as the Golden Dawn or Silver Eagles, the Purple Orca develops a poor reputation under Gueldre's leadership. Corruption, internal misconduct, abuse of authority, and criminal behavior become associated with the squad. Several disgraced or morally questionable Magic Knights are revealed to have connections to the Purple Orca during his time as captain. Gueldre also possesses considerable business talent and frequently boasts about his ability to accumulate wealth and influence. Even other captains acknowledge his skill in negotiation and commerce, though many suspect his fortune was built through unethical or illegal methods. He values money, rare magical items, and social prestige more than ideals such as honor or loyalty. Although selfish and morally compromised, Gueldre is not unintelligent. He possesses sharp survival instincts, strong political awareness, and enough magical ability to rise to the position of captain despite lacking the overwhelming battlefield dominance displayed by captains like Yami, Mereoleona, or Fuegoleon. His intelligence and evasive magic make him dangerous in indirect ways even if he avoids direct confrontation. Gueldre frequently clashes verbally with other captains, especially those who openly value strength, loyalty, or merit. Yami Sukehiro in particular openly mocks and distrusts him. Despite Gueldre's outward confidence, he becomes visibly panicked whenever his schemes are exposed or when forced into situations where stealth and manipulation can no longer protect him. At this stage of the story, Gueldre represents corruption, greed, political decay, and the darker side of the Magic Knights system. His existence demonstrates that not every captain earned their position through heroism or noble ideals, and that the Clover Kingdom's military structure contains hidden flaws beneath its public image. Gueldre is a tall and obese man. He was referred to as a "fat ham" by the other Magic Knight Captains. He wears a mask and his former uniform.

Julius Novachrono is the 28th Wizard King of the Clover Kingdom and the supreme commander of the Magic Knights. Widely regarded as one of the strongest mages alive, Julius possesses immense magical power, extraordinary intelligence, and the rare attribute Time Magic. Despite his legendary status, he behaves far less formally than most people expect from the kingdom's highest military authority. At the beginning of the series, Julius appears cheerful, eccentric, curious, and unexpectedly approachable. He is obsessed with discovering new forms of magic and often disguises himself to wander the kingdom freely, observing unusual spells and talented mages firsthand. Whenever he encounters unfamiliar magic, his normally composed personality becomes almost childishly excited, causing him to ignore etiquette, schedules, or political responsibilities in favor of satisfying his curiosity. Despite his playful behavior, Julius is an exceptionally perceptive and wise leader. He possesses deep understanding of magic, politics, social inequality, and human nature. Unlike many nobles, Julius does not judge people based on bloodline or social status. He values merit, effort, and potential above noble birth, which heavily influences his dream of reforming the Clover Kingdom into a society where accomplishments matter more than class. Julius was deeply inspired by Zara Ideale, the first commoner Magic Knight, whose death exposed the corruption and prejudice within the kingdom's nobility. Since then, Julius has devoted himself to creating a more equal future through the Magic Knights system. This philosophy leads him to recruit unusual individuals such as Yami Sukehiro, William Vangeance, and other powerful mages rejected or feared by society. Julius possesses Time Magic, one of the rarest and most terrifying magic attributes in existence. His abilities allow him to manipulate the flow of time itself, including accelerating, slowing, stopping, storing, and stealing time. In combat, he combines overwhelming speed, precision, and predictive analysis, often defeating opponents before they fully understand what happened. Even veteran captains acknowledge Julius as a monster among mages whose true strength is difficult to comprehend. Unlike aggressive captains such as Yami or Mereoleona, Julius prefers avoiding unnecessary killing and attempts to understand enemies whenever possible. He places immense value on human life and often prioritizes protecting civilians over securing personal victory. Beneath his fascination with magic lies genuine love for the people of the Clover Kingdom and deep belief in humanity's potential to evolve beyond hatred and discrimination. Although kind-hearted, Julius can become extremely serious during national crises. When necessary, his playful demeanor disappears entirely, revealing overwhelming authority, tactical brilliance, and the terrifying pressure expected from the Wizard King. His presence alone is often enough to calm allied forces or intimidate enemies. Julius maintains particularly strong interest in young mages with unusual potential. He quickly notices Asta's Anti-Magic, Yuno's exceptional talent, and the unpredictable growth of the Black Bulls. Rather than fearing irregular powers, Julius actively encourages them, believing the next generation will reshape the future of the kingdom. At this stage of the story, Julius represents wisdom, curiosity, overwhelming magical mastery, and the possibility of social change within the Clover Kingdom. Beneath his eccentric personality and fascination with magic exists a leader carrying the immense responsibility of protecting an unstable kingdom threatened by discrimination, political corruption, and approaching supernatural conflict. Julius is a tall, middle-aged man with short messy blond hair and purple eyes. One of his notable features is a blue six-pointed star on the left side of his forehead; this symbol disappears when he dies.

Vanessa Enoteca is a witch from the Witches' Forest and a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad. At the beginning of the series, she is infamous for her constant drinking, flirtatious behavior, revealing clothing, and laid-back attitude. Many people initially dismiss her as lazy, irresponsible, or little more than a drunken troublemaker within the already chaotic Black Bulls. Despite her carefree exterior, Vanessa is intelligent, emotionally perceptive, and deeply loyal to the people she cares about. She often acts as an older sister figure within the Black Bulls, especially toward Noelle Silva and Asta. While she enjoys teasing others and avoiding responsibility whenever possible, Vanessa becomes surprisingly dependable when her friends are in danger. Vanessa possesses Thread Magic, an unusual attribute that allows her to create and manipulate magical threads for offense, defense, restraint, movement, and trap setting. Her fighting style relies heavily on precision, deception, support, and battlefield manipulation rather than direct destructive power. She is highly skilled at controlling movement and positioning, often using her threads to redirect attacks or secretly manipulate the battlefield in her favor. As a witch raised within the Witches' Forest, Vanessa possesses magical knowledge and instincts uncommon among ordinary Clover Kingdom mages. However, her past is deeply tied to feelings of confinement and lost freedom. During childhood, the Witch Queen imprisoned Vanessa after recognizing her extraordinary magical potential. Yami Sukehiro eventually helped her escape the forest, becoming the first person to truly offer her freedom and a place where she could live by her own choices. Because of this, Vanessa is fiercely loyal to Yami and the Black Bulls. Vanessa values personal freedom above nearly everything else. Her drinking, provocative clothing, relaxed behavior, and refusal to act like a "proper" woman are all partially expressions of independence after years of imprisonment and control. Beneath her playful personality lies a strong fear of losing her freedom or watching the people she cares about suffer because she was unable to help them. Community discussions about her character often emphasize that her obsession with freedom strongly defines both her personality and magic. Vanessa is openly flirtatious and frequently teases attractive men, especially Yami. However, most of her interactions carry a playful, teasing energy rather than genuine romantic seriousness. Around trusted squadmates, she behaves comfortably and without embarrassment, often lounging around the Black Bulls base while drinking alcohol or relaxing in minimal clothing. Although Vanessa initially appears unserious during missions, she demonstrates strong tactical awareness and emotional intelligence during combat situations. She excels at supporting allies, creating openings, protecting weaker teammates, and staying calm under pressure. Her role within the Black Bulls is less about overwhelming enemies directly and more about helping the squad function together effectively. Later discussions among fans and characters alike often describe her as one of the squad's most valuable support mages. Vanessa develops a particularly close bond with Noelle Silva, encouraging her emotionally and helping her gain confidence in controlling her magic. She also acts warmly toward Asta, gradually becoming inspired by his determination and unwavering faith in his friends. Unlike many nobles or outsiders, Vanessa rarely judges people based on status, appearance, or background because of her own experiences with isolation and imprisonment. At this stage of the story, Vanessa embodies freedom, emotional support, hidden vulnerability, and unconventional strength. Behind her drunken antics and playful behavior is a deeply caring witch determined to protect the life and family she finally chose for herself. Vanessa is a tall young woman with wavy mid-back length pink hair that she keeps loose in a lob hairstyle with bangs swept to the left side, purple eyes, full lips and a voluptuous body. When she is indoors, Vanessa prefers to dress only in her undergarments, which consist of a pair of red, thin-strapped lingerie with frilly designs and she usually wears her squad robe on top of this outfit. When in public, Vanessa covers most of her body, although the outfit itself is still very revealing. She wears a slim, sleeveless, fit, red-violet top and miniskirt with red-violet evening gloves. The design of the top allows her to showcase much of her torso, with a large v-shaped opening exposing part of her breasts and midriff, where it is only connected at one point around her navel region. The cups that hold her breasts have curvy edges. Her miniskirt is very short and only covers her buttocks. She also wears dark purple stockings and garter belts underneath her boots. Her thigh-high red-violet boots are skin tight and split at the collars, creating a V-shape. Lastly, she wears a red-violet witch hat with a conical crown, which falls onto one side near the end. The hat also has a purple ribbon surrounding its circumference with a pin of intricate design attached to it, and a very wide brim. In addition, her grimoire is carried inside a purple pouch on her right side, which is strapped to a purple belt around her waist. Her outfit is completed with a pair of earrings.

Henry Legolant is a nobleman and member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad who secretly lives within the Black Bulls base itself. For most of the early series, many squad members are barely aware of his existence because Henry remains isolated deep inside the headquarters due to a mysterious illness that constantly absorbs mana from nearby people. At the beginning of the series, Henry appears pale, physically weak, quiet, and extremely gentle. He speaks extraordinarily slowly, stretching out his words in a soft and awkward manner that often confuses or frustrates people around him. Despite his unusual behavior and eerie appearance, Henry is compassionate, selfless, and deeply attached to the Black Bulls, whom he silently watches over like a family from within the base. Henry was born into a noble family, but his curse-like condition forced him and his parents into isolation because prolonged contact with others could drain their mana and threaten their lives. Eventually abandoned and left nearly dead from loneliness and weakness, Henry was discovered by Yami Sukehiro. Rather than fearing or rejecting him, Yami invited Henry into the Black Bulls and allowed him to remain within the squad's headquarters, giving him both companionship and a reason to keep living. Because Henry unconsciously absorbs mana from nearby people, most mages become exhausted if they remain too close to him for long periods. Asta, however, is unaffected due to possessing no mana at all. This allows Asta and Henry to spend time together safely, causing the two to develop a particularly close friendship. Henry greatly admires Asta's kindness and determination, especially because Asta treats him normally without fear or discomfort. Henry possesses Recombination Magic, an unusual attribute that allows him to restructure and manipulate the Black Bulls base itself. By channeling the mana absorbed from his squadmates, he can transform the headquarters into gigantic moving structures, defensive fortresses, cannons, vehicles, and even a massive mechanical bull capable of combat. His magic specializes in large-scale support, mobility, teamwork, and combining the strengths of multiple allies into one coordinated structure. Unlike aggressive frontline fighters, Henry's combat role revolves around protection, transportation, coordination, and supporting his comrades. His magic becomes dramatically stronger when cooperating with the rest of the Black Bulls, reflecting his deep emotional attachment to the squad and his desire to fight alongside others despite years of isolation. Henry values friendship and companionship more than almost anything else. Having spent much of his life alone, he treasures even small moments with his squadmates and willingly risks his own life to protect them. Although shy and awkward socially, his loyalty to the Black Bulls is absolute. Community discussions frequently describe Henry as one of the kindest and most emotionally pure members of the squad despite his unsettling appearance and strange condition. The Black Bulls base itself is heavily connected to Henry's magic and presence. Many of the building's bizarre architecture changes, moving rooms, and chaotic interior layouts are secretly caused by Henry unconsciously reshaping the structure over time. This gives the headquarters an almost living quality unique among Magic Knight squads. At this stage of the story, Henry embodies loneliness, hidden kindness, teamwork, and the desire for human connection. Beneath his curse, strange habits, and isolated existence is a gentle man who views the Black Bulls not simply as comrades, but as the family that saved his life. Henry is a pale young man with long, untidy white hair, which is home to several birds. His attire consists of a white, long-sleeved shirt and pants. Over his shirt, he wears the Black Bull robe. While under the effects of Gordon's Curse-Worker's Neighbor spell, Henry's hair shifts into a much shorter cut.

Charmy Pappitson is a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad and a dwarf-human hybrid with an overwhelming obsession with food. Despite being a Magic Knight, Charmy often appears more interested in eating, cooking, and searching for snacks than participating in missions or serious military duties. Her small stature, childish appearance, and constantly cheerful behavior cause many people to underestimate her intelligence and combat ability. At the beginning of the series, Charmy is energetic, carefree, gluttonous, and emotionally driven almost entirely by food. She constantly cooks meals, carries snacks, and becomes extremely protective whenever someone threatens her food or wastes ingredients unnecessarily. Under normal circumstances, she is friendly, generous, and surprisingly affectionate toward her squadmates, frequently offering food to both allies and strangers alike. However, if someone damages her meals, steals food, or destroys ingredients, Charmy's personality changes dramatically. Her cheerful demeanor disappears and she becomes frighteningly aggressive, ruthless, and unexpectedly dangerous. Even powerful enemies can be overwhelmed by the sheer intensity of her anger whenever food is involved. Fans and characters alike often joke that harming Charmy's food is more dangerous than insulting her directly. Charmy possesses Cotton Magic, an unusual attribute that allows her to create and manipulate magical cotton and sheep constructs. Unlike ordinary offensive magic, her cotton creations are heavily connected to cooking, food production, mobility, support, and restraining enemies. Her summoned sheep cooks can rapidly prepare magical meals capable of restoring mana and stamina to allies, making her extremely valuable during prolonged battles or recovery situations. Although she initially appears comedic and unserious, Charmy possesses unusually high magical power and combat potential. During moments of extreme hunger, anger, or emotional intensity, her hidden dwarf heritage begins surfacing through a second magic attribute known as Food Magic. In this state, Charmy physically transforms into a taller and more mature form while her sheep transform into a massive wolf capable of devouring enemy magic itself. Her Food Magic allows her to absorb and consume magical power before converting it into energy for herself. Community discussions frequently describe her as a "wolf in sheep's clothing" because of the contrast between her cute appearance and terrifying hidden power. Charmy rarely cares about social status, noble hierarchy, or political matters. Unlike many Clover Kingdom nobles, she treats commoners, royals, foreigners, and captains almost exactly the same as long as food is involved. Her simple worldview and lack of prejudice make her unusually easy to approach despite her bizarre behavior. Many Black Bulls appreciate her emotional warmth and ability to improve morale simply by feeding people. Charmy also develops an obvious crush on Yuno after he saves one of her meals during the Royal Capital invasion. Around Yuno, she becomes bashful, romantic, and dramatically overemotional while still expressing affection primarily through food. Her interactions with him are often comedic and exaggerated, especially when Sylph becomes jealous and interferes. Within the Black Bulls, Charmy acts as both comic relief and emotional support. She is one of the squad members least affected by social prejudice or emotional conflict, instead focusing on feeding people, protecting her friends, and enjoying life as freely as possible. Beneath her silly behavior, however, lies one of the squad's most abnormal and underestimated combat abilities. At this stage of the story, Charmy embodies comfort, gluttony, hidden strength, emotional sincerity, and chaotic unpredictability. Behind her cute appearance and food obsession is a surprisingly powerful mage whose kindness and terrifying rage are both directly tied to the things and people she cares about most. Charmy is a petite girl with shoulder-length black hair and green eyes, appearing much younger than her age with some confusing her for a small child. One of her facial features is her thin eyebrows and wide forehead. She usually sports her hair in an upside-down bun hairstyle with fringes framing both sides of her face, and her forehead left exposed. Her attire consists of only a light-colored white tunic and dark-colored pants. Her tunic extends below her waist and has long sleeves that reach slightly past her elbows. Additionally, the tunic also has a kangaroo pocket at the front on her stomach area. Her pants extend slightly below her knees and fit perfectly for her. She sports a blue satchel that she slings over her right shoulder, which carries her grimoire on her left side. Finally, she also wears a pair of light-colored yellow flats for her footwear.

Finral Roulacase is a nobleman formerly connected to House Vaude and a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad. Unlike most nobles known for overwhelming offensive magic, Finral specializes in Spatial Magic focused almost entirely on transportation, mobility, support, and battlefield control. Although many people initially dismiss him as weak because he lacks offensive spells, Finral's magic is considered extremely rare and strategically invaluable. At the beginning of the series, Finral is flirtatious, cowardly, dramatic, and easily distracted by attractive women. He constantly attempts to flirt with nearly every woman he meets and often reacts to danger with panic, exaggerated screaming, or desperate attempts to escape. His comedic personality makes him one of the more approachable and socially energetic members of the Black Bulls. Despite his cowardly behavior, Finral is genuinely kind-hearted, emotionally intelligent, and deeply loyal to his squadmates. Unlike many nobles, he treats commoners and peasants with friendliness rather than arrogance. Within the Black Bulls, Finral often acts as transportation, support, coordination, and emotional mediation for the squad's more chaotic personalities. Many members rely heavily on his mobility magic during missions and combat operations. Community discussions frequently describe him as one of the Black Bulls' most dependable support members despite his insecurities. Finral possesses Spatial Magic, allowing him to create portals capable of transporting people, redirecting attacks, repositioning allies, and controlling battlefield movement. His combat style focuses on support, evasion, rescue operations, and tactical coordination rather than direct damage. Although he initially believes his inability to attack makes him inferior to other Magic Knights, experienced captains recognize his spatial abilities as exceptionally valuable for both combat and logistics. Finral was born into House Vaude, a noble family known for powerful spatial magic users. However, his younger half-brother Langris displayed far greater offensive talent and was eventually chosen as the family's heir instead of Finral. Feeling inferior and unwanted, Finral abandoned the expectations of nobility, adopted his mother's surname "Roulacase," and began living more carelessly while hiding his emotional pain behind humor and womanizing behavior. Although Finral often acts unserious, his insecurity regarding Langris deeply affects him. He views himself as weaker, less talented, and unworthy compared to his younger brother. This inferiority complex contributes heavily to his lack of confidence in battle and tendency to avoid dangerous situations whenever possible. However, beneath this self-doubt lies a strong desire to become useful to others and help the Black Bulls succeed together rather than pursuing individual glory. Finral develops strong friendships with Asta, Vanessa, Magna, and the rest of the Black Bulls largely because the squad accepts him without judging his weaknesses. Yami Sukehiro in particular trusts Finral's abilities despite constantly insulting or threatening him in typical Black Bulls fashion. Over time, Finral becomes increasingly willing to risk himself to protect his squadmates even when terrified. In combat situations, Finral usually stays behind frontline fighters and coordinates team movement through portals and repositioning. His magic allows allies to launch surprise attacks, avoid fatal blows, travel long distances instantly, and escape otherwise impossible situations. Although not physically powerful, his battlefield utility makes him critical during large-scale operations and squad teamwork. At this stage of the story, Finral embodies insecurity hidden behind humor, emotional kindness, support-oriented strength, and gradual personal growth. Beneath his flirting, cowardice, and comedic behavior is a noble-hearted mage struggling to overcome feelings of inferiority while learning that true value is not measured only through destructive power. Finral is a slender young man of average height and build. He has "droopy" eyes, and his light brown hair is somewhat unruly. He generally has a pleasant, smiling expression. While training for the Royal Knights Selection Exam, his magic dyes the tips of his hair green; afterwards, Finral starts styling his hair differently, combing it to the right. Despite being nobility, his outfit is fairly simple. On top of a white under shirt, he wears a light green, loose-fitting tunic with long sleeves and long tails at the back. He also wears dark trousers and a green pair of wide, knee-high boots that lace up the front. He wears the short Black Bulls mantle and his grimoire holder is on his left hip. He also wears a pair of green earrings.

Magna Swing is a commoner from the Clover Kingdom's forsaken region and a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad. Loud, reckless, emotional, and fiercely competitive, Magna embodies the rough and rebellious spirit of the Black Bulls more openly than almost anyone else in the squad. Despite lacking noble talent or massive mana reserves, Magna fights with intense determination and pride as a self-made mage who clawed his way into the Magic Knights through sheer effort. At the beginning of the series, Magna is hot-blooded, confrontational, and highly expressive. He frequently yells, argues, challenges people to fights, and acts aggressively toward anyone who insults him or his friends. Although he initially appears like a delinquent or troublemaker, Magna possesses strong emotional honesty and straightforward loyalty. He deeply values friendship, respect, and personal pride, especially among fellow commoners looked down upon by nobles. Magna quickly forms a close bond with Asta because both come from the lowest social classes and constantly face discrimination from nobles and stronger mages. Unlike many Magic Knights who mock Asta's lack of magic, Magna immediately respects his determination and fighting spirit. Their relationship becomes highly competitive, with Magna often treating Asta like a rival he refuses to fall behind. Magna possesses Fire Magic specialized around explosive attacks, projectiles, traps, and aggressive mid-range combat. Rather than relying on overwhelming mana quantity, Magna compensates through creativity, street-fighting tactics, unpredictability, and relentless pressure. His signature fighting style often incorporates baseball imagery, including fireballs and improvised projectile attacks inspired by throwing pitches. Because Magna's mana reserves are relatively low compared to nobles and royals, he constantly struggles against opponents born with overwhelming magical advantages. This insecurity deeply frustrates him, especially when facing elite mages who underestimate commoners automatically. However, Magna refuses to accept inferiority quietly and becomes even more determined whenever people mock his status or abilities. Community discussions often describe him as one of the most relatable underdog characters in the series because his struggles are based on effort versus natural talent. Unlike calmer strategists such as Finral or Gauche, Magna prefers direct confrontation and emotional momentum during battle. He fights recklessly, aggressively, and with tremendous passion, often continuing even after suffering heavy injuries. His determination and refusal to give up frequently inspire allies despite his comparatively average magical talent. Magna shares a particularly close friendship with Luck Voltia despite their wildly different personalities. Their relationship resembles a chaotic rivalry built around constant fighting, competition, and mutual respect. Magna acts as one of the few people capable of grounding Luck's dangerous obsession with battle by treating him like a normal friend rather than a monster. Although rough around the edges, Magna genuinely cares about protecting weaker people and supporting his squadmates emotionally. He becomes visibly angry whenever nobles abuse commoners or when innocent civilians are threatened. Beneath his aggressive personality lies strong empathy toward anyone struggling against unfair circumstances similar to his own. Within the Black Bulls, Magna contributes energy, morale, emotional honesty, and relentless fighting spirit. He lacks the refined elegance of noble captains or the monstrous talent of prodigies like Yuno, but his willingness to keep fighting despite overwhelming odds perfectly represents the squad's refusal to accept defeat. At this stage of the story, Magna embodies rebellion against class inequality, stubborn determination, emotional loyalty, and the pride of self-earned strength. Beneath his loud attitude and reckless behavior is a commoner who refuses to let talent, status, or fate decide his worth. Magna is a young man with a lean build and two different colored hair, a light grey hair at the top, black hair at the sides. Additionally, he also sports a black mohawk. One of his facial signatures is a straight-line mark surrounded by three pairs of dots on his left forehead. Magna sports a white shirt covered by a navy leather jacket and navy trousers. In addition, his jacket covers half of his torso. He wears black fingerless gloves, a pair of blue shades, a pair of black boots, a chain hanging from the left side of his waist connected to his trousers and a belt that he uses to support his pouch containing his grimoire. The pouch is black and has a skull and crossbones symbol at the front.

Luck Voltia is a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad and a commoner known throughout the Clover Kingdom for his frightening love of battle. Constantly smiling and unnaturally cheerful, Luck behaves with childlike excitement during combat, often terrifying both enemies and allies alike. His obsession with fighting strong opponents and his inability to understand normal social behavior cause many people to view him as unstable or dangerous. At the beginning of the series, Luck appears energetic, playful, emotionally detached, and disturbingly enthusiastic about violence. He frequently smiles during battles regardless of danger and becomes genuinely excited whenever someone powerful challenges him. To Luck, fighting is one of the few ways he understands connection and communication with other people. This mindset makes him highly unpredictable in both social interactions and combat situations. Luck's unusual personality originates largely from his childhood. His mother constantly pressured him to win fights and praised him only when he proved stronger than others. As a result, Luck grew up associating victory and combat with affection, approval, and emotional connection. Over time, he developed difficulty understanding empathy, normal friendships, and emotional restraint outside battle. Despite his frightening tendencies, Luck is not malicious. Beneath his battle obsession lies a lonely individual who genuinely wants companionship and acceptance but struggles to express those desires properly. The Black Bulls gradually become the first group where he experiences something resembling friendship rather than fear or isolation. Magna Swing especially plays an important role in grounding Luck emotionally by treating him like an equal rival and close friend instead of avoiding him. Luck possesses Lightning Magic specialized for high-speed combat, close-range attacks, rapid movement, and overwhelming offensive pressure. His fighting style revolves around extreme mobility and aggressive hand-to-hand combat enhanced by lightning reinforcement. He often attacks like a wild predator, constantly rushing opponents without hesitation while laughing or smiling excitedly during battle. Unlike more tactical fighters, Luck relies heavily on instinct, reflexes, and raw combat intuition. His natural talent for sensing mana and reacting during high-speed combat is exceptional even among Magic Knights. Because of his affinity for lightning and mana perception, Luck possesses extraordinary battle awareness and can react to enemy movements with terrifying speed. Although he initially struggles with teamwork, Luck gradually begins learning cooperation through his experiences with the Black Bulls. Asta's unwavering kindness and Magna's rivalry help him slowly recognize the value of fighting alongside others instead of simply defeating them. However, at this stage of the story, Luck still instinctively prioritizes the thrill of battle over strategy or self-preservation. Luck rarely cares about social hierarchy, noble status, or political matters. He judges people almost entirely based on strength, excitement, and fighting spirit. Because of this, he can become friendly toward someone immediately after an intense battle while remaining indifferent to titles or reputation. His simplistic but honest worldview contrasts heavily with the class discrimination common throughout the Clover Kingdom. Within the Black Bulls, Luck contributes immense combat power, speed, unpredictability, and chaotic energy. His presence often turns missions into dangerous chaos, but his overwhelming offensive ability and fearlessness make him one of the squad's strongest frontline fighters despite his unstable personality. At this stage of the story, Luck embodies loneliness hidden behind excitement, instinctive combat talent, emotional immaturity, and the desperate desire to connect with others through battle. Beneath his constant smile and violent enthusiasm lies someone slowly learning that friendship can exist outside the battlefield. Luck is a young man of short stature with light blue eyes and medium-length messy blond hair. His hair is long enough to cover both his ears and forehead. Luck's outfit is very simple and consists of an aqua-blue tunic with long sleeves. The sleeves get larger as they reach Luck's hands, making the tunic appear loose. Additionally, the tunic's length extends just below his waist, making it look to be a size larger for Luck. His pants are teal and extend just below his knees. Additionally, it has light-colored strips with stitch-like cross patterns at the sides, running from top to bottom. Luck also carries a pouch for his grimoire, which is strapped around his chest with the use of a belt. Finally, Luck wears a pair of light-colored brown boots that cover just above his ankles.

Gordon Agrippa is a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad and a nobleman from the mysterious House Agrippa, a family associated with curses and poison-based magic. At the beginning of the series, Gordon is infamous for his unsettling appearance, gloomy atmosphere, and habit of speaking so quietly that almost nobody can understand him. Because of this, most people either ignore him completely or become unnerved whenever he appears nearby. Gordon has pale skin, dark eye makeup-like markings, long black hair, and a constantly expressionless face that makes him resemble someone associated with dark magic or curses. Combined with his whispering voice and eerie presence, he unintentionally frightens strangers despite having an extremely gentle personality. Most misunderstandings surrounding Gordon happen simply because people assume he is creepy before taking the time to understand him. In reality, Gordon is kind, shy, affectionate, and desperately wants friendship and emotional connection. He genuinely cares for the Black Bulls and often talks lovingly about his squadmates even when they cannot hear or understand him. Much of his sadness comes from feeling invisible or ignored due to his communication problems and intimidating appearance. Community discussions frequently describe Gordon as one of the most wholesome and misunderstood characters in the series. Gordon possesses Poison Magic, an attribute that allows him to create and manipulate poisonous substances, toxic clouds, and curse-like magical effects. His magic specializes in weakening enemies over time, indirect attacks, status effects, and support-oriented debilitation rather than immediate destructive force. Because poison magic is feared and associated with suffering, many people instinctively distrust Gordon before even speaking to him. House Agrippa possesses deep knowledge regarding curses, forbidden magic, and poison-related techniques passed down through generations. Although these traditions make the family highly knowledgeable in dangerous forms of magic, they also contribute to the family's isolation and unsettling reputation within the Clover Kingdom. Gordon himself, however, shows little interest in frightening or hurting others unnecessarily. Unlike aggressive squadmates such as Magna or Luck, Gordon behaves quietly and passively during most interactions. He often sits silently near the others hoping to feel included while internally talking about how much he values his friends. Unfortunately, because nobody can hear him properly, many conversations unintentionally leave him isolated or forgotten. Despite this, Gordon never becomes bitter toward the Black Bulls and continues caring deeply about them. Gordon admires Asta because Asta interacts with him sincerely without being disturbed by his appearance or strange behavior. Like many Black Bulls members, Gordon gradually becomes inspired by Asta's openness and refusal to judge others based on reputation, status, or outward appearance. Although socially awkward, Gordon is highly loyal and willing to risk himself for his squadmates when necessary. Beneath his timid personality lies strong emotional devotion toward the people he considers friends. His greatest desire is not fame or recognition, but simply being understood and accepted by others. Within the Black Bulls, Gordon contributes support magic, curse knowledge, emotional sincerity, and quiet loyalty. His eerie appearance contrasts sharply with his compassionate personality, making him one of the squad's clearest examples of how appearances within the Clover Kingdom can be deeply misleading. At this stage of the story, Gordon embodies isolation, misunderstood kindness, emotional loneliness, and hidden warmth. Behind his creepy appearance and poison magic is a shy noble desperately hoping to connect with others without frightening them away. Gordon is a slender, young man with pale skin and short black hair that is slicked back. His face is long with a large nose and lacks eyebrows. He wears black eyeshadow in large circles around his red eyes, and also wears black lipstick and nail polish. His attire consists of a dark grey jacket red trimming and red cuffs. His pants are a matching grey and are tucked into knee-high black boots. He wears a black belt over his jacket and a black pouch for his grimoire hangs on his left hip. Over this he wears the Black Bull's signature robe. His dark grey peaked cap has a black band and bill and the Black Bull badge.

Grey is a member of the Black Bulls Magic Knight squad and a commoner from the Clover Kingdom. At the beginning of the series, almost nobody knows her true appearance because she constantly hides behind magical transformations. She initially presents herself as a large, intimidating man with a distorted voice and eerie appearance, making her one of the strangest and most misunderstood members of the Black Bulls. In reality, Grey is an extremely shy, timid, and emotionally insecure young woman who struggles heavily with self-confidence and social interaction. She becomes embarrassed easily, avoids attention whenever possible, and often hides behind transformations because she feels uncomfortable showing her real self to others. Her fear of rejection and low self-esteem originate from years of emotional abuse by her stepmother and stepsisters during childhood. As a child, Grey desperately wanted acceptance and affection from her family. After receiving her grimoire, she used her Transformation Magic to imitate her stepsisters in hopes they would like her more. Instead, they reacted with disgust and hostility, driving her away from home entirely. This experience deeply damaged Grey's confidence and reinforced her belief that her true self was unwanted or inferior. Grey was eventually rescued by Gauche Adlai after being threatened by bandits. Inspired by his words and later accepted into the Black Bulls by Yami Sukehiro, she slowly began finding a place where she could exist without constantly being judged. However, at this stage of the story, she still struggles to communicate openly and frequently hides behind disguises even around her own squadmates. Grey initially appears to possess Transformation Magic, allowing her to change her appearance into other people or objects. Unlike ordinary transformation magic, however, Grey's abilities are unusually advanced and flexible. She perfectly imitates voices, mannerisms, and behaviors while transformed, demonstrating impressive observational skill and emotional intelligence. When disguised, she often becomes noticeably more confident and expressive because she no longer feels exposed as herself. Later revelations show that Grey's true attribute is actually Transmutation Magic, an extremely rare and mysterious form of magic capable of altering the properties of matter and magical substances themselves. This allows her to transform objects, reshape magical attacks, and eventually even heal severe injuries through magical reconstruction. Because her magic permanently changes substances rather than creating illusions, Grey is considered an Arcane Stage mage with highly unusual potential. Despite her anxiety and social awkwardness, Grey is deeply kind-hearted and compassionate. She genuinely cares about her squadmates and becomes extremely emotional whenever they are hurt or endangered. Her gentle nature contrasts heavily with the chaotic violence often surrounding the Black Bulls. Community discussions frequently describe Grey as one of the squad's most emotionally vulnerable and misunderstood members. Grey shares particularly strong emotional connections with Gauche Adlai and Gordon Agrippa. She admires Gauche deeply because he helped save her life and gave her courage to move forward. Around Gordon, she experiences awkwardness because his unsettling behavior frightens her despite the two actually sharing similar social insecurities and communication difficulties. Within the Black Bulls, Grey contributes support magic, adaptability, emotional sincerity, and hidden magical versatility. Although she lacks the loud confidence of members like Magna or Luck, her ability to support allies and alter situations creatively makes her quietly valuable during missions and battles. At this stage of the story, Grey embodies insecurity, hidden identity, emotional vulnerability, and the desire to be accepted for who she truly is. Beneath her disguises, shyness, and fearful behavior lies a compassionate mage with unusually mysterious magic and enormous untapped potential. Grey is a petite young woman of average height. She has light blue hair in a bob cut with some strands hanging in the front. She wears a white, sleeveless shirt and a pair of dark blue, high-waisted pants that cinch just below her knees. The pants have five connected flowers on the waist with the middle flower being the largest and the ones on the side getting smaller. There are also three flower-shaped buttons vertically above the middle flower. In addition, she sports a brown belt, connected to a pouch, in which she carries her grimoire, on her left side. She also wears a pair of dark blue flat shoes with flowers on the strap, similar to those on her pants. As a member of the Black Bull squad, she dons the squad's signature robe. The hooded robe is short with the Black Bull insignia on the left side.
