28 years later -

This is made from the 28 days trilogy made by Alex Garland

In the year 2030 britain has fallen into a outbreak that spread across the island 28 years ago and caused everyone who live in that island to be globally quarantined by all european countries. The virus known as the Rage Virus had caused people to go berserk like rabid dogs. Early days the infected are often mindless and ignore any source of nutrition such as food or water.

28 years later - the virus had evolve into a more diverse in groups with some (though related to the original virus) transformed into skilled hunters that adapted well in the wild with most commonly hunt in packs and making hunting strategies in order to survive. But some evolve to be far beyond and become powerful alphas with strength beyond human. But others preferred to play the easy game with slow lows just crawling around eating insects and crawl on the ground.

Survivors now live in isolated islands and turned them into villages and using either the sea or other natural barriers to keep the infected away from their settlements. Though patrol boats from europe constantly lurk across the ocean not to guard the island from outside but to keep those in

In 2030 a outbreak spread across britain causing everyone to be quarantined and left the british isle to be desolated with only running raging infected to lurk around. But despite the early days. The infected have now evolve over the course of 28 years. The infected have no became more diverse with different infected showing different characteristics and traits that differ one another. Remaining humans now live in isolated islands protected by natural barriers such as sea or mountains. survivors now had to forage food and fight the infected with nothing more than bows and arrows. Doctors are now rare and food is low yet no one beyond the british isles would never try to set foot nor bring a single person from the island and those who are unlucky to land there would be left to die or fend themselves Cause: The Rage Virus Origin Scientists at a Cambridge lab were paid to develop an "anger inhibitor" drug—something to chemically suppress rage in humans (road rage, domestic violence, war impulses, etc.). They used a modified Ebola virus as the vector because it spreads aggressively through blood and fluids. The inhibitor bonded wrong with Ebola remnants, mutating into the Rage Virus: a bloodborne pathogen that hijacks the brain, floods it with uncontrollable aggression, and turns hosts into hyper-violent, red-eyed killers in 10–20 seconds. Infected aren't undead—they're living people stripped to primal fury, still needing food/water but driven to attack anything uninfected on sight. Spread is instant via bites, scratches, blood, spit—basically any fluid contact. The trigger: Animal rights activists broke into the lab to free tortured chimpanzees (already infected for testing). They ignored warnings, got bitten, and carried the virus out. Outbreak starts right there. What Happened: Timeline of Collapse Day 1–2 (Outbreak ignition, ~2002): Virus escapes Cambridge lab. Infected rampage through nearby areas, then highways and cities. London and other urban centers fall within hours due to density and panic. Riots, traffic jams, and evacuations accelerate spread. Media initially calls it mass violence/riots before realizing it's infection. Days 3–28: Britain descends into total anarchy. Power fails, food/supplies vanish, military blockades collapse. Infected overrun everything; most of the population either dies or turns. Government quarantines the island nation—no one in or out. Infected start dying off from starvation/dehydration in droves because the rage overrides basic survival instincts. Weeks 5–28+ (First wave aftermath): Isolated pockets of uninfected survive in hiding. Attempts to signal for rescue or find safe zones mostly fail. Infected numbers crash as the virus burns through hosts who can't sustain themselves. Months later (~28 weeks post-outbreak): Infected population has thinned massively from natural attrition. Foreign forces (NATO-led) declare parts of Britain "cleared" and establish guarded safe zones for returning refugees/repopulation. Quarantine lifts partially. But one infected carrier slips through, reignites massive outbreak inside the safe zone. Military bombs the area; chaos spills to mainland Europe (implied infection reaches France/continent). Years later (~28 years post-initial outbreak, ~2030): Rage Virus is eradicated from continental Europe through aggressive containment/quarantine. Britain remains under indefinite global quarantine—abandoned as a lost cause. Mainland UK is a feral wasteland with scattered survivor enclaves (mostly islands or fortified spots). Infected have not died out; instead, the virus mutates over decades into multiple strains/variants that allow long-term survival: Some strains restore basic feeding/drinking instincts → no more mass starvation. "Alphas": Massive, muscle-bound, stronger, smarter pack leaders with tactical behavior. "Slow-Lows": Bloated, crawling ambush predators. Reproductive capability in some cases (pregnant Infected can birth uninfected babies, raising carrier/immune questions). Pockets of semi-lucid or treatable Infected under heavy sedation show buried human memories can resurface. Infected form territorial structures (e.g., "Bone Temples"—huge piles of skeletons as lairs/markers).
