Shuriken undercover as his alter ego, "Silver Shadow". Lore Shuriken was unnaturally spawned in Thieves' Den, immediately after his older sibling Vine Staff, to their two caretakers. Shuriken was taken in and accepted by the Darkage Clan without hesitation, but was separated from his sibling, since she was banished by Darkage due to the "curse" she spawned with. In Darkage, Shuriken was trained as a warrior and was extremely skilled in this endeavour, going on to be regarded as a great warrior by the Clan. It was in Darkage where Shuriken met Slingshot, and the two became extremely close, going on to regard one another as siblings.

Together, the two of them would go out and meet Vine Staff at night, even though it was forbidden for them to do so. Eventually, the three of them decided to leave Thieves' Den to live in Crossroads, which was ultimately the safest place for Shuriken's siblings. However, Shuriken did not take well to the humdrum of city life, finding his life without purpose. In the pursuit of becoming something greater, he adopted a vigilante persona—known as "Silver Shadow"—under the cover of night, where he now fights against crime and keeps the streets of Crossroads safe.

Shuriken's siblings aren't aware of his alter ego, and are none the wiser when he shows up for his daytime job at Slingshot's café, Thieves' Rest. He works as a waiter, but struggles with exhaustion due to his vigilante work, and oftentimes falls asleep in the middle of the day. Although he cares greatly for his siblings, he keeps mostly to himself and tries not to worry them with what's going on in his life. Despite everything, he longs to one day be reunited with his Clan.

Shuriken lives in the same apartment block as Katana and is his neighbor.[2]

Personality Shuriken is a sentimental inphernal who cares more about his family than he does about himself. Although he often teases and messes with them, he will go to great lengths to make sure his siblings, Slingshot and Vine Staff, are happy and safe, even at his own expense. Despite this, he has a greater desire for purpose in life, seeking this out in his secret vigilante alter ego, "Silver Shadow", which he hides from his siblings so as not to worry them. Shuriken has struggled to settle into Crossroads, and doesn't have many friends and is lonely as a result.[4][5]

Appearance Shuriken has a pair of large green horns that protrude from his forehead just above his eyebrows and curve upward, ending in sharp points. He is commonly seen with a relaxed expression and triangular orange makeup on the corner of his eyes. Shuriken wears a black hooded shirt with short sleeves cut just past his shoulders. He wears the hood pulled up and over his head, stopping it just behind his horns. On the right side of the shirt, there is a large green zipper with the zipper track extending downward. His left arm has a green sleeve tattoo, covering his entire arm. The pattern is wavelike. On the left side of his shirt, there is a green quadrilateral of irregular shape. His right forearm has a pouch secured by two straps.

Tied around his waist is a green obi belt, tied into an enormous bow in the back with grey caps on the end. His shorts are asymmetrical, the right leg cut just above his knee, whereas the left one extends to his knee and ends with a green trim. On his left leg, there is also a green Thieves' Den symbol on the upper part of his pants, and he wears a black leg warmer only on the same leg. For shoes, he wears green geta straps. His gear is a four-pointed throwing star with glowing green tips.

Relationships Vine Staff Shuriken and Vine Staff are extremely close, with Shuriken risking his role in the Darkage Clan for her, and eventually giving it up in order to protect his sibling. The two are often causing havoc for their neighbor, Katana[6], and Shuriken tattooed his own arm in honor of Vine Staff.[7] Vine Staff isn't aware of Shuriken's vigilante alter ego, "Silver Shadow".

Slingshot Shuriken and Slingshot are very close as siblings, but Slingshot isn't aware of Shuriken's vigilante alter ego, "Silver Shadow".

Other relationships Shuriken still longs to be a part of Darkage Clan again, someday.

Shuriken lives in the same apartment block as Katana, and he and his siblings often disturb the older inphernal.[6] While they don't talk much, Shuriken and his siblings leave gifts at Katana's door to show their appreciation to him.[8] Katana is aware of Shuriken's vigilante alter ego, "Silver Shadow".[9]

While Shuriken isn't aware of The Broker[10], The Broker knows of his vigilante alter ego, "Silver Shadow", as does Ban Hammer.[11]

Ban Hammer is frustrated by Shuriken's naivety and rash attitude to life, insisting to the younger inphernal that "patience is a virtue"—but it turns out that Ban Hammer doesn't know what that means, either. Biograft

Hyperlaser asks Shuriken about Katana, expressing to Shuriken that he wants to know more about Katana's culture. Katana

Shuriken is curious about Katana, asking about his past and his dour demeanor, but isn't all that impressed by Katana's sage wisdom. Medkit

Medkit expresses concern about the safety of Shuriken's grappling move. Scythe

Scythe calls Shuriken a "pesky prick" when taking him out. Slingshot

Slingshot and Shuriken are seen playfully challenging each other, playing a game of "who can get the most points" mid-Phight. Slingshot is supportive towards Shuriken, but expresses fond exasperation towards him at times. Vine Staff

Shuriken and Vine Staff are seen bickering as any normal siblings do during Phights, with Shuriken constantly annoying and teasing his sibling, and Vine Staff exasperatedly chasing after him, often reminding him to stick to their plan, and also to brush his teeth. Shuriken notably asks Vine Staff for healing, but then runs away from her at every opportunity, as Shuriken does. Notes 1 This birthday is dubiously non-canon—in a previous version of PHIGHTING!'s story, Shuriken was spawned at least a year after his sibling, Vine Staff. However, currently, he was spawned immediately after her. The wiki leaves both siblings' birthdays intact until a replacement is given.
