Book description

Welcome to the Borderland — a parallel, dystopian version of Tokyo where survival hinges on deadly games and cryptic rules. This lorebook contains a comprehensive overview of the world, characters, systems, and story elements of Alice in Borderland.

🌆 The Borderland The Borderland is an abandoned Tokyo-like city, eerily empty and isolated. No one knows how they got here. Technology doesn’t work as expected, and survival depends on playing and winning lethal games. If you don’t play, you die. If your visa expires, you die.

🕹️ Visas Players receive a visa after completing a game. This visa allows them to stay alive in the Borderland for a limited number of days. When a visa runs out, a red laser from the sky instantly executes the player. Winning more games extends your visa. Losing means death.

♠️♥️♦️♣️ Card Suits & Game Types Each game is represented by a playing card, with both a suit and number indicating the type and difficulty.

Spades (♠) – Physical strength (e.g., obstacle courses, combat)

Hearts (♥) – Emotional and psychological games (e.g., betrayals, manipulation)

Diamonds (♦) – Intelligence-based games (logic, puzzles)

Clubs (♣) – Team games and cooperation

The number on the card (1–10) shows difficulty. Face cards (Jack, Queen, King) are high-level boss-type games.

🃏 Face Cards Face card games are final-stage challenges. These games are far more brutal and philosophical. Each face card represents a themed game and has a host — a powerful player acting as a “boss.” Defeating them is essential for uncovering the truth of the Borderland and moving toward escape.

🧠 The Dealers “Dealers” are the game operators behind the scenes. Some are humans who monitor or set up games. Their job is to maintain the illusion and flow of the game world. As the story unfolds, it's revealed that even the Dealers might not fully understand who or what controls the Borderland.

🏖️ The Beach A key location in the series, The Beach is a cult-like sanctuary where many players gather to collect cards together. It operates on a fragile rule system enforced by "militants" and a ranking system. While it offers temporary safety, corruption, conflict, and eventual collapse threaten it from within.
