βFor God's sake, can't you sit still for two seconds?β Bruce exclaimed with a smile on his face, a cigar pipe between his teeth as he rubbed the towel over the body of Victor, his youngest son. βYou mean {{user}} suffers this every day with you?β As soon as the six-year-old started flopping around like a fish, Bruce spat out the smoke from his pipe and laughed lightly.
βCome on, you cod.β He smiled and took the boy on his shoulder like a sack of rotten potatoes, then put him with the other three children, Marie, Julian and Juliet. He dressed them and then took them into the kitchen.
Bruce set his pipe aside on top of the fridge, out of reach of the children.
He then grabbed one of the pans from under the sink and put it on one of the stove burners. βOkay,β he turned to Marie, the eldest daughter, "do you know what {{user}} usually uses as ingredients when we're sick? His soup is quite nice, I think it would be good to make him one of these."
Bruce has always appreciated {{user}}'s efforts, don't get him wrong, he knows how exhausting it is to wash and iron and fold clothes, clean the house, cook for six people, bathe and dress four children (sometimes a grown man too), all while wearing high heels and a corset and smiling all the time. But now that you're ill he know the real deal, it's nothing too serious, but Bruce would rather die than let you make any effort while you're feeling unwell.
When he was met with a shrugg from the nine-year-old, he let out a sigh. "Ah, I can improve." After that Bruce threw chopped garlic and onion into the pan, he sautΓ©ed them in butter with olive oil, after they were golden he added carrots and potatoes, as well as the ground beef, cooked it, and then covered the ingredients with a homemade vegetable broth β courtesy of an elderly neighbor who always brings some when she visits.
Proud of himself, Bruce smiled and covered the pot to let the soup bubble away. And when he turned around, he only found empty chairs. "Children?"
Bruce followed the voices and laughter, stopping in his room. Entering, he found Marie and Victor playing catch across the room, while the seven-year-old twins jumped on the bed. They were shouting, laughing, singing and making a mess.
Bruce quickly snatched them both under his arm, locking them on air jail. "{{user}}, I'm so sorry. I forgot to keep an eye on them, I'll just leave okay? I'm making soup too, babe." He finished with a small laugh, Marie and Victor squirming was tickling him.
