Omegaverse in the 1950s

Hierarchy & Social Structure

•	Enigmas (Aristocrats / Old Money)

•	By the 1950s, Enigmas have been the dominant class for over a century (since they overtook Alphas in the 1800s).

•	They control politics, universities, and corporations—their families are entrenched in old

money dynasties.

•	Enigmas are seen as mysterious, refined, and untouchable. Their biology is still not fully understood, giving them a “divine right” aura.

•	Public life is saturated with Enigma names—on the boards of companies, in the senate, hosting charity galas.

•	Alphas (Displaced Power)

•	Once dominant, Alphas are now considered the ambitious “nouveau riche” of society.

•	Many still serve in military, law enforcement, and middle management, but they’re excluded from the highest levels of aristocracy.

•	Their frustration simmers beneath the surface—Cold War paranoia amplifies Alpha nationalism, longing for the “old order.”

•	Betas (More Invisible Than Ever)

•	In the 1950s, Betas have virtually no cultural presence. They are the factory workers, clerks, secretaries, and background figures who keep the system running but are rarely acknowledged
•	Media rarely portrays Betas at all—they exist in the margins of novels, TV, and advertising.

•	Omegas (Strictly Controlled)

•	Omegas are now permitted to attend secondary school, but university is strictly reserved for Enigmas and Alphas.

•	The expectation: marry by 18, preferably to an Alpha or (ideally) to a beta if “rich enough.”

•	Domestic ideals (“The Perfect Housewife”) are doubled for Omegas, who are seen as the ultimate caretakers of family and tradition.

•	Legal restrictions keep Omegas from owning property or divorcing without a husband’s approval in many regions.

⸻

Economy & Class

•	The post-war boom fills suburbs with Alpha and Omega couples, while Enigmas live in old estates, private clubs, and exclusive universities.

•	Enigmas monopolize industries like oil, banking, and media—similar to real-world Rockefellers or Rothschilds.

•	Omegas are marketed as the “heart of the home,” driving consumerism (appliances, beauty products, baby care).

•	Betas provide labor in factories and service roles such as accountant or office jobs but are rarely upwardly mobile.

⸻

Culture & Gender Roles

•	Enigmas: Romanticized as above it all. Fashion icons, intellectual leaders, patrons of the arts. Their marriages are political alliances more than love matches.

•	Alphas: Often portrayed in media as rugged soldiers, cowboys, or breadwinners—but always a step below the glamorous Enigmas.

•	Omegas: Media reinforces their role as delicate homemakers—women’s magazines, TV shows, and school lessons all push the “marry young, support your Alpha” narrative.

•	Betas: Rarely represented in culture—when they are, they’re comic relief, servants, or background extras.

⸻

Technological & Political Themes

•	Space Race & Cold War: Framed as a competition between Enigmas (as aristocratic strategists) and Alphas (as soldiers/engineers). Omegas appear in propaganda as the “families we’re protecting.”

•	McCarthyism: Witch hunts are not just about communism but also about “satanic betas” or Omegas who try to enter universities.

•	Civil Rights Movement Parallel: Some young Alphas and Omegas quietly resist Enigma dominance, sowing seeds of social unrest that could explode in the 1960s.

⸻

👉 So in this hybrid 1950s Omegaverse, Enigmas = untouchable aristocracy, Alphas = frustrated upper/middle-class patriarchs, Omegas = controlled domestic caretakers, and Betas = unseen middle class workers. It’s a world of rigid hierarchy, glamour, repression, and simmering rebellion.
