   Ebata took on the pseudonym of Atabe Maruo the quintuplets' fictitious tutor, at their favor in an attempt at making Fuutarou Uesugi their tutor again. Before this, Maruo Nakano assigned Ebata as the quintuplets' tutor after Fuutarou resigned.

   Relationship Maruo Nakano Ebata is Maruo's chauffeur and secretary. He calls Maruo as "master" and often gives advice to him for private matters. Maruo seems to be close enough to Ebata because he casually discuss private matters with him.

   Nakano Quintuplets He drives them to school occasionally and has been doing so since they were young. He cares for them enough that he was willing to play a fake persona to go on with their plan in bringing Fuutarou back as their tutor.

   Relationships Football Coach (tentative name) is a football coach that appeared five years ago in the Nakano quintuplets' flashback. He seems to have known a lot about the quintuplets and usually ask them to help him with football practices. He had a crush on the quintuplets' mother, Rena Nakano.

   The football coach is a short middle-aged man with shaggy hair. He wears a football uniform that greatly resembles the FIFA code of the Argentina national football team. It could be said that he is the author's rendition of the legendary football player Diego Maradona in his prime.

   Relationships Rena Nakano He shows an interest in Rena Nakano and little is known about his relationship with the mother of quintuplets, but Nino replies that he would not stand a chance, due to the number and successful and intellectual suitors.

   Futaro Uesugi is the main protagonist of the Gotoubun no Hanayome series. He is a student at Asahiyama High School who lives with his father, Isanari Uesugi, and younger sister, Raiha Uesugi, in a small apartment.

   As a hardworking and highly intelligent student, Futaro excels academically and is at the top of his class. Due to financial difficulties faced by his family, he takes on the opportunity to serve as a tutor for the Nakano quintuplets.

   Appearance Futaro is depicted as a young man with fair skin and black hair that is styled in a bowl cut with two strands sticking up from the back of his head. Nino Nakano comments on his hairstyle, calling it weird, to which he claims was cut by his sister, Raiha Uesugi. He has bangs that cover his forehead and his eye color varies across adaptation (blue in the anime's first season, yellow in the second season and in the manga). He has a slim physique and a tall build, although he tends to slouch at times.

   Futaro is often portrayed with a serious expression, giving off a scary and thuggish vibe, to which Miku Nakano referred to as the "face of a bad guy." Despite this, Nino develops a crush on him, including on a younger Futaro who had a delinquent-like appearance, despite initially dismissing Futaro's looks as being dull-looking."

   Futaro typically wears the standard uniform of Asahiyama High School, both in and outside of school. The uniform includes a short-sleeved white shirt, dark blue trousers and a white belt. During cooler weather, he wears a light blue V-neck sweater, which is also part of the school uniform, over his shirt. For footwear, he typically wears black sneakers with white soles and laces for everyday wear. However, after the Labor Thanksgiving Arc, it has been revealed that he also wears high-top sneakers with similar coloring.

   During School Field Trip Arc, he wore the clothes Nino picked for him. This includes a khaki parka jacket over a light-color mock turtleneck long-sleeved shirt, which appears black in the anime depiction. It is not shown whether he wore it again after the field trip. Since School Field Trip Arc, he started wearing the charm bracelet his sister gives him. However, this has not been clearly depicted after the arc due to him wearing long-sleeved top.

   During Futaro's Flashback Arc, a hospitalized Futaro is seen wearing a set of plain pajamas, which he seems to use as nightwear. He wore this outfit again during the Seven Goodbyes Arc when he goes out for a night walk with Itsuki.

   When disguised for the school trip's test of courage, he sports a blonde wig that looks spikier and slightly longer compared to his regular hairstyle ("The Binding Legend: Day 2 ②"). To disguise as Kintaro, he additionally wears a black long-sleeved V-neck shirt and white trousers during his visit to Nino's hotel room ("The Seven Goodbyes ⑥"). This clothing combination contrasts with his usual attire, where he has a light-colored top and dark-colored trousers.

   In his childhood, Futaro sports a blonde, slick back and spiky hairstyle, much similar to the wig he wore when disguising as Kintaro. When Nino first meets Kintaro, she immediately notices the latter was the boy in the picture. He also wore an earring in his left ear, which he removed when he got older. During the Futaro’s Flashback Arc, a young Futaro wore a black hoodie, white trousers, and clogs.

   Personality According to Isanari Uesugi, Futaro used to be similar to his father as a kid with their wild personality and being bad at studying who lives a frugal lifestyle and prefers solitude. Someone comments that Futaro is always like that, trying to not associate with everyone. Ichika Nakano remarks that Futaro is direct and doesn't mince words. Yotsuba Nakano's first impression of Futaro is a gloomy and not-having-many-friends guy. His facial expression is always serious, sometimes having a grumpy and annoyed look, and rarely blushes or gets flustered. As he grows older, he becomes more of a study freak and grows more pompous and asocial. Despite his initial facade, he is actually a very caring person, especially towards his sister Raiha Uesugi.

   Futaro is noted to have a big ego and high confidence. He is straightforward, tactless, brutally honest and rude; but is actually capable of holding back his emotions. Despite that, Futaro could momentarily lose his composure when agitated and faced with unfavorable circumstances. He also initially did not like getting involved with other people's problems, finding them to be troublesome. Despite his tactlessness, he is knowledgeable enough in knowing what to say in specific situations when thrown at him; rarely giving up when trying to achieve a specific objective.

   Despite his egotistical nature, Futaro is very hardworking and has a very high amount of patience; especially when getting the attention of the quintuplets and tutoring them despite various amounts of failures and setbacks. He later on shows a sense of duty strong enough to help the quintuplets in their studies despite them not paying him immediately, even though the money that came with tutoring was the initial reason he accepted the job. He also begins valuing their relationship to the point where he would do things outside of their tutor-student relationship which would later on bloom into a bond where they mutually support each other with little question. Despite being bad at sports and lacking a fair amount of stamina, he is rarely shown to be tired for the most part; able to work other part-time jobs besides tutoring; one being a helper in a pastry shop.

   During his brief stint as Kintaro, he tried (albeit crudely) making him seem like a "bad boy", similar to who he was before.

   Natural Abilities and Skills Futaro is a smart student and ranked top among his peers. He acknowledges that his forte lies solely in studying. He is able to score perfectly in various tests. He got 100 in all 5 subjects during the Second Year Midterm Exam. He also has an exceptional memory and excellent reading comprehension. Futaro is able to absorb several dozens worth of books in three days. His reason for studying is related to a young girl in his flashback. Futaro is able to sleep while sitting straight with his eyes wide open. Ichika Nakano's director notes that Futaro is the one who draws out Ichika's potential. Futaro is shown to be not only academically shrewd, as he's able to get the most out of the cafe's menu, successfully trick a teacher with his plan, and getting the lazy and idiotic Nakano Quintuplets to start studying.

   Futaro acknowledges that human relations isn't his strong point. He always tries to cut off relationships with others aside from family, that is why he doesn't have experience with confessions. He is less adept with technology - he is unfamiliar with the internet's function and that he is unfamiliar with Nakano Quintuplets' apartment lock system.

   Futaro has low physical endurance/stamina. Miku Nakano and Futaro have almost equal physical endurance/stamina. He once tried to piggyback Miku, but he lacks strength to do so and this shows that Futaro has a low strength.

   Despite his poor social skills, he is able to see through a person's emotion and motivate them. Initially, Futaro is unable to judge the names of the sisters since they're so similar, but later he is able to differ them by how they call him. He is also capable of distinguishing the girls' based on their individual style of writing. Fuutarou is in a slump for quite some time, as he is affected by Nino Nakano's confession.

   Like Miku, Futaro is not good at cooking. He is able to ride a motorcycle. He once worked on a delivery job before, which was when he got his licenses.

   This is the head teacher of the Asahiyama High School. He teaches History. He was also the homeroom teacher of Yotsuba Nakano's sophomore class, class 2-2.

   Appearance He is a middle-aged man with a bald head. His most distinctive feature is his overgrown front teeth, making him resemble a bald mouse. Thanks to his unique appearance, Fuutarou was able to answer one of Miku's history questions.

   Relationships Fuutarou Uesugi He dislikes Fuutarou for having solved all of his well-thought-out tests with ease.

   Hongo is the captain of the Basketball Club.

   She is the most beautiful girl in all of Asahiyama. She was the first to steal "the first time" from Fuutarou .

   Ichika Nakano is one of the main characters in the manga and anime series 5-toubun no Hanayome. She is one of the quintuplet sisters, with the other four being Nino, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. Ichika is the eldest of the sisters and serves as one of the main love interests for the protagonist, Futaro Uesugi.

Like her sisters, she has dark blue eyes, an average height, a well-endowed figure and large breasts. A stall owner praises Ichika for her cuteness, but doesn't praise her sister nearby, Itsuki Nakano.

   Ichika wears her school uniform with a thin jacket tied to her waist, sometimes with unbuttoned top; revealing her cleavage. She is shown to wear a handbag.

   Personality Ichika acts as the eldest sister of her sisters, as she seems to have a calm and composed demeanor; making herself an approachable person. Futaro Uesugi noted that her smile is fake and encourage her to put away that kind of smile.

   She initially had pessimistic attitude towards the sisters' learning capabilities, making her one of the obstacles for Futaro tutoring lessons early in the story. After being inspired by him, she began to change her mind and started to take studying seriously. He also helped her fix any issues she had with her sisters; making them closer than ever before. Despite her smug expression and teasing behaviour, Ichika is shown to have a weakness to romantic moments happening to her; blushing whenever thoughts about it came to her mind.

   According to Futaro, each of the Quintuplets have their own characteristics regarding their sheets. On Ichika's case, her writing and paper would be sloppy. She was also remarked to pick things up quickly and is troubled when her sisters make decisions without her presence.

   As her pride of being the eldest sister, she plans to be successful first before telling her sisters about the job. She is shown to study in between her filming; whether it be inside a car on the road or late at night. Futaro was also impressed at how she was able to balance her work and school.

   Ability Ichika is a model and an actress. She is able to impersonate her sisters' expression and traits, showcasing her excellent acting capability, but to not to the extent of Miku, in which she can impersonate them flawlessly. Futaro is usually left impressed at how good her acting is, like when she accidentally eats the cake made by him, but managed to praise it wholeheartedly.

   She is hinted to have good insight about human psychology, as she is able to, "see through people." This is evident when she easily deduced Futaro and Itsuki's quarrel, and correctly guessed the state Itsuki she was currently in.

   Ichika's "big sister" traits are first shown when she refers to herself as "onee-san" to Futaro and asks him to consult her. Among the sister, she is ranked in the middle part of the five, with Mathematics as her strongest subject.

   Relationships Ichika is the big sister of the Nakano quints, having a supportive, caring and wise personality. Ichika laments that the Nakano Quintuplets used to get along.[1] Ichika tells the Nakano Quintuplets about her acting job.[2]

   Nino Nakano Ichika praises Nino's cooking.[3] She is the only sister so far who directly object to Ichika, such as when Ichika defending Fuutarou, and due to "Ichika's" seemingly uncaring behavior towards Itsuki.[4] When Nino starts to pursuing Fuutaro romantically, it made Ichika distressful. She originally believed she had no right to stop Nino's efforts, but she went against Nino's request in stalling their father so that Nino couldn't meet Fuutarou to kiss him. When Ichika becomes more honest with her feelings, she eventually told Nino how she also loves Fuutarou, making the two competitive love rivals. The two butt heads during the Kyoto trip, after the sisters learn of Ichika's attempts to sabotage Miku's chances with Fuutarou. When Ichika accuses them of being the same due to the both of them wanting to win Fuutarou over no matter what, Nino counters that while she has no intentions of letting any of her sisters win, she would give them her blessing if Fuutarou picked one of them. The two make up as they watch Miku spend time with Fuutarou, with Nino somberly saying that their roles could have easily been switched.

   Miku Nakano Miku pairs with Ichika, for the Test of Courage.[5][6] Miku is the closest sister to Ichika, as both have deep understanding towards each other, and often seen doing activities together.[7] Miku prefers to sleep with Ichika when her room is occupied,[8] and they openly have a heart-to-heart talk with each other, showing a strong bond between them.[9] Miku told Fuutarou about Ichika's movie.[10] Despite this bond, she lets her feelings for Fuutaro get the best of her, by making Futaro believe that Miku (Ichika in disguise) supports Ichika's feelings for Fuutaro, making him believe Miku isn't in love with him. When she disguises herself as Miku again in Kyoto, she is caught in the act, which deeply upsets Miku. After seeing that she had disregarded their relationship as sisters and had hurt Miku after her hard work to better herself, Ichika chooses to help Miku enjoy some one-on-one time with Fuutarou and apologizes to her afterwards.

   Yotsuba Nakano Yotsuba calls Ichika as "Ichika."[11] Ichika and Yotsuba have a good relationship with each other, as Yotsuba cleans her room every once in awhile.[12] and even willingly doing something slightly embarrassing for her.[13] Ichika used to brush Yotsuba's teeth when they're kid.[14] Yotsuba tries to cheer up Ichika.[15] Ichika stole candies and stickers from Yotsuba in the past.[16] Ichika also made friends with someone Yotsuba wanted befriend with.[17] Yotsuba label Ichika as "the boss who always wanted what others had."[18]

   Itsuki Nakano Ichika calls Itsuki "Itsuki-chan."[19] According to Fuutarou, Ichika is the only one who address Itsuki as "Itsuki-chan."[20] Itsuki notes that Ichika have been forcing herself because of them.[21] Ichika could understand Itsuki's behaviour even if is a slight change and would act concern towards her, even telling Fuutarou to look after her.[22] Ichika noted that Itsuki hasn't been able to be honest with herself.[23] Ichika stated that Itsuki and Fuutarou fight all the time because both are similar, a stubborn person.[24]

   Fuutarou Uesugi Ichika calls Fuutarou "Fuutarou-kun."[25] Fuutarou's first impressions of Ichika is that she has eyes that seem to see right through you.[26] Ichika's first impression of Fuutarou is that "he's a bookworm who doesn't have a girlfriend."[27] Ichika notices Fuutarou's uneasiness and decided to help him.[28]

   Ichika is able to tell that Fuutarou is acting weird.[29] Ichika likes to tease Fuutarou, but he rarely flustered about it. Due to Ichika's puzzling behavior, Fuutarou has a hard time understanding her, and was eventually forced to tell his circumstances to gain her trust.[30] After discovering her situation, Fuutarou helps Ichika to be more honest and genuine to her feelings, asking her to put away her fake smile.[31] After getting inspired by Fuutarou, she began to accept him and start studying together. As time passes by, Ichika began developing feelings for Fuutarou, blushing when she gets compliments from him. The first scene of chapter 7 is a reminiscence of Chapter 13, where Ichika waits for Fuutarou before going to school. This is probably why in the page 3, Ichika considers this scene (walking together to school) as "her spot."

   She initially was more reserved with her feelings towards Fuutaro, but has sometimes made her emotions get the better of her. Example are when she cried when Fuutarou considered turning down the idea of dancing with her in the bonfire during their school trip, beating Miku in the Final Terms to prevent her from confessing to Fuutarou, and unable to stop her father under Nino's request to avert Nino from meeting (and possibly kissing) Fuutarou. After having a heart talk with Yotsuba on where she was told she didn't have to hold back, Ichika starts to become more assertive if not also a little devious in her pursuits for Fuutarou. These actions include her tricking Fuutarou into believing Miku (Ichika in disguise) supports the two of them, and planning to give his birthday present before the others. She also plans to form a group consist of her, Fuutatou and Yotsuba in school's trip to Kyoto in order to get closer to Fuutarou. Also, she plans to do so because she knows Yotsuba doesn't harbor any romantic feelings for Fuutarou.

   Ichika met a young Fuutarou 5 years ago back in Kyoto and they played cards together.

   Isanari Uesugi is the father of Fuutarou Uesugi and Raiha Uesugi.

   He has a distinctive golden, spiky hair with a bulked up and muscled body. Fuutarou five years ago also shared similar facial traits to Isanari.

   He is always seen wearing sunglasses on his forehead. They are a memento of his deceased wife, who had bad eyesight while she was alive.

   Personality Isanari has a wild character. Fuutarou five years younger is said to share the same personality as his father, notably both were bad at studying.

   Maruo Nakano Isanari and Maruo had a history of rivalry during school days, stemming from their differences. While Maruo was an exemplary student, Isanari was rebellious.[1]

   Rena Nakano Isanari and the quintuplets' mother, Rena, knew each other during school days. She was his senior, or senpai as Isanari addressed her.

   Itsuki Nakano is one of the main characters in the manga and anime series 5-toubun no Hanayome. She is the youngest of the quintuplet sisters, along with Ichika, Nino, Miku, and Yotsuba Nakano. She is the first quintuplet that the protagonist Futaro Uesugi encounters, and the two have a complicated relationship throughout the series.

   Itsuki is portrayed as an intelligent and confident student, but also a bit stubborn and headstrong at times. She is very close to her sisters and takes on a protective role towards them, especially when it comes to their father's, Maruo Nakano, expectations for their academic success. She is also passionate about food and aspires to become a food-related professional in the future.

   Throughout the series, Itsuki's character undergoes significant development as she confronts her own feelings for Futaro and navigates her complicated relationships with her sisters. Her story arc highlights themes of family, personal growth, and the challenges of adolescence.

   Itsuki is noted to be "cute" by her classmates and she looks very similar to Rena Nakano, according to Shimoda.

   She wears her uniform normally without any accessories, like most of the girl students,[7] and on occasion, she wears a handbag.[8][9]

   Personality Itsuki is a serious and earnest girl[10] who usually wakes up early compared to her sisters.[11][12] She is well-mannered; never being late or missed a class,[13] and always speaks formally. In the Japanese script, she almost exclusively speaks with a keigo speech pattern. Nino, her older sister, comments that Itsuki is too straight-laced.[14]

   Itsuki is a girl who bears grudges,[15] as shown when she rejects Futaro's tutoring partly because of a previous quarrel they had. She is also someone who can't be honest with herself and has difficulties being more straightforward.[16][17] Both of these qualities often make her struggle on her own. She is easily agitated, be it about unfavourable situations,[18] scary things[19] or her stubborn self.[20][21][22]

   She has a huge appetite and is frequently seen eating something or being hungry throughout the series. It appears that she doesn't mind treating her sisters unfairly when it comes to food-related topics.[23] This shows where during one scenario when she proposed to her sisters to share their cakes; suspected to sample all the flavours by Ichika.[24]

   According to Futaro, each Nakano has their own characteristics regarding their sheets.[25] In Itsuki's case, she would rather use an eraser than scribble on them.

   Ability Itsuki is commended as a diligent girl, and she does things very precisely.[26][27] She is also perceptive and has a good sense of detail.[28] Despite that, she has an awful sense of direction.[29] Her poor sense of direction is first mentioned, when she became sensitive to the cold so she sneaks into Nino's futon.[30] She also has poor eyesight and is often seen wearing glasses.[31]She has good observation and deduction skills.[32] On exams, Itsuki generally scores high compared to her sisters, with her strongest subject being Science.[33]

   In spite of her excellent deduction skills, she was the last of her sisters to realise Miku's affection towards Futaro.[34]

   Itsuki is seen wearing glasses when she's about to do a test (Chapter 2), suggesting she has hyperopia (far-sightedness). In Chapter 3 with Futaro Uesugi, he remarks that Itsuki can't see far away, suggesting she has myopia (near-sightedness). Despite sharing eye problems with Nino Nakano, only Itsuki wears glasses. She and Nino seem to be the most similar to each other among the quintuplets (both of them do sit-ups in the morning, have long hair, poor eyesight, a fear of needles, and a tsundere-like personality, being initially harsh to Futaro). Both of them are also close to each other and often seen hanging out, and Nino is very vocal and protective regarding Itsuki. Itsuki believes in fate and charms.[39][40] Itsuki's notable accessories are two stars on the front of her hair, representing number 5, which is a part of her name and the order of her birth. Itsuki won 3rd place on the Japanese popularity poll with 1235 votes.[41]

   Itsuki is the second Nakano Quintuplet to get her picture taken alongside Futaro. However, she is the first Nakano to have a picture with Futaro taken properly.[42]

   Itsuki Nakano/Relationships Itsuki doesn't like her sisters quarrel with each other, and being the "youngest", she can get easily intimidated by them.[1]

   Nakano Family Maruo Nakano Maruo Nakano is the adoptive father of Itsuki and her sisters. He describes Itsuki as someone obedient and sensible.[2]Maruo Nakano He also contacts Fuutarou through Itsuki.[3][4]

   Nakano Quintuplets - Memories Mama Nakano passed away on August 14, and Itsuki visits her grave every month.[5] Nino said Itsuki does it because she's conscientious, but Fuutarou doubts it.[6]

   Ichika Nakano Ichika calls Itsuki "Itsuki-chan."[7] According to Fuutarou, Ichika is the only one who address Itsuki as "Itsuki-chan."[8] Itsuki notes that Ichika have been forcing herself because of them.[9]

   Ichika mostly showed her big sister attitude towards Itsuki, expressing care and protective behavior.[10] Ichika noted that Itsuki hasn't been able to be honest with herself.[11] Ichika stated that Itsuki and Fuutarou fight all the time because both are similar, a stubborn person.[12]

   Nino Nakano Nino is the one who usually wakes up Itsuki.[13] Nino pairs with Itsuki, for the Test of Courage.[14][15]

   Itsuki is the closest with Nino, as both are seen doing activities together, such as shopping, lunch, and test of courage.[16][17][18] Nino is also very protective towards Itsuki, being the most vocal sister regarding her well being.[19] The two come into conflict shortly before the final exam of their second school year, with Itsuki uncharacteristically slapping Nino for insulting Fuutarou and throwing aside her copy of the handwritten notebook he made for them. The two of them then leave the Quintuplets' apartment for a week, with Nino going to a hotel and Itsuki staying with the Uesugis. The two eventually rekindle, with both of them having bought movie tickets to watch together.

   Miku Nakano Itsuki is aware of Miku's fondness towards Fuutarou, and she reassures Miku about his circumstances, showing her care to Miku.[20]

   Yotsuba Nakano Itsuki consoles Yotsuba by showing her Fuutarou's notes praising Yotsuba.[21] Itsuki is the first to learn of Yotsuba's past with Fuutarou, and is asked to disguise herself as Yotsuba from 5 years ago. While Itsuki believes that Yotsuba deserves a chance with Fuutarou, Yotsuba refutes it, feeling undeserving of it and wanting to not be the only one who is "special" to him.

   Uesugi Family Fuutarou Uesugi Early on, Itsuki had a quarrel with Fuutarou, leading her to reject him as the sisters' tutor early on. Despite this, she took him home after his disastrous first meeting with the sisters and begrudgingly encouraged him to try again after having dinner with the Uesugi family. She refused to consider the two of them as anything but strangers at first, partly due to Fuutarou's mutual sentiments. Due to Fuutarou's consistent efforts, Itsuki began to notice the change on her and the sisters.[22] After having a number of arguments with Fuutarou, she wants to apologize but feels too awkward to do so until being encouraged by Ichika to be honest with herself and the reason they argue is because of how similarly stubborn they are. She and Fuutarou develop each other's character, as they both overcome their stubbornness.[23][24]

   Itsuki usually is the one who compares her father to Fuutarou due to the words of her mother who says to be cautious when choosing men.[25] Despite their initial tensions, Itsuki is disturbed by the condition placed on Fuutarou by her father, and at first refused to disclose her first test scores, knowing that Fuutarou would be fired. She held reservations towards Fuutarou for both his role as a tutor and as a potential romantic interest for the sisters before the school trip and wished to use the trip to prove his character. During the trip and after finding his written notes of stories to tell Raiha when he goes back home, she realizes that she did not know Fuutarou at all and tells an unconscious Fuutarou of her desire to learn more about him. When Fuutarou is hospitalized after the trip, she visits Fuutarou to do just that, and spontaneously asks about his motivation for studying. During the Scrambled Eggs Arc, she considers her relationship with him as that of friends rather than partners. When Fuutarou accepted this, she was overjoyed and quickly ran to the mixed bath he was in to join him, before being embarrassed. Eventually, it's implied she may have feelings for him; she's grouped within the same category as Nino and Ichika, wanting to walk around and explore with him alone.[26]

   She knows more regarding Fuutarou than her sisters, being aware of his family's financial situation and is the first one he disclosed part of his past to. When Itsuki has a fallout with Nino due to Nino rejecting Fuutarou's efforts, she stays at Fuutarou's apartment due to her sisters not knowing where it is and she had nowhere else to go.[27][28]

   Itsuki says that it's unusual for her to warm up to someone like Fuutarou.[29] She often notices when he acts unusual, such as asking the sisters to use the same hairstyle and realized he was doing that because the girl he had met was one of them, or when he was acting distant following his reinstatement as the sisters' tutor following the mock exam. She was overjoyed by the news and was annoyed by Fuutarou's lack of response, not knowing that he had just been reminded by her father to act properly towards the sisters. She sensed that something was bothering him and was eager to learn about it.

   Raiha Uesugi Itsuki is the 1st quint to meet Raiha. Itsuki develops a fondness toward Raiha due to her cuteness and partly after learning Uesugi family's circumstances. Initially, Itsuki only exchanged her contact information with Fuutarou in return for Raiha's. The two would even hang out with each other during the school holidays. It is implied she contacted Raiha following her fallout with Nino to stay over at the Uesugi residence for a while.

    Personality As the newfound father of the quintuplets, much of Mudou's identity has yet to be revealed, but he seems to have ever regretted his decision of leaving his daughters too many hardships. Stating that he wants to "atone" for his sins.

    He holds some animosity towards Maruo Nakano because of allowing his quintuplet daughters to follow the same misguided path as did his late wife Rena Nakano.

    Despite his apology and attempted rekindling of his daughters, his true nature become more revealing due his unreasonable animosity towards Rena and even told Itsuki that she shouldn’t follow her path nor have anything to do with her. His apologetical pursuit became more persistent after he eventually slammed his own head onto the floor causing it to bleed heavily though to no avail by Itsuki though she did show guilt for it. Mudou eventually snarled at Maruo and the quintuplets after they disowned him, causing him to walk off into the school festival, never to be seen or heard from again.

    Personality Maruo is characterized by his strict and no-nonsense demeanor where he is a disciplined and responsible person who takes his role as a father and provider seriously. Maruo is a workaholic, often putting in long hours at the office, and expects results from his daughters.

    He is often depicted as cold and distant, and his relationship with his daughters can be strained at times. However, it is revealed that he cares deeply for his daughters' well-being and only wants what is best for them, even if it means making difficult decisions. Maruo is not one to show his emotions easily, but his actions speak louder than his words, and he is willing to make personal sacrifices for his family's sake.

    Background Not much is known about Maruo except that he was a student of Rena Nakano and classmate of Isanari Uesugi in the past.

    As a student, Maruo was the student council president as well as the president of Rena's fan club.

    Maruo Nakano/Relationships The Nakano Quintuplets While Maruo is not the quintuplets' biological father, he genuinely cares for his stepdaughters, which is shown in his decision to hire Fuutarou Uesugi, the best student in class, as his stepdaughters' tutor, despite disliking him. He also doesn't force his opinions and decisions on the quintuplets. When the quintuplets decide to move out from their residence to live independently, Maruo becomes displeased. Even so, he still considers their thoughts and allows them to do so.

    Rena Nakano Maruo was once a student of Rena, and according to Isanari Uesugi, he was the president of her fan club in junior high school, implying that he harbored strong romantic feelings for her.

    Many years later, when Rena fell ill and had to be hospitalized, Maruo became her doctor and he would often visit her, as noted by the Nakano quintuplets. They married sometime before her death, and he would continue looking after her daughters in her memory.

    Ebata Ebata is the Papa Nakano's secretary and occasionally driver. Due to Papa Nakano's lack of time and attention towards his stepdaughters, Ebata is assigned to take care of the quintuplets.

    Isanari Uesugi Isanari has a relationship with Papa Nakano prior to the beginning of the series. Through Isanari, Fuutarou was able to land the job as the quintuplets' private tutor. It is implied the two have known each other for some time, with Isanari being aware that Maruo does not drink.

    It was later revealed that Isanari and Maruo were once classmates.

    Fuutarou Uesugi Despite choosing Fuutarou as the quintuplets' private tutor, Papa Nakano bears a certain hatred toward him. This is implied to have partly came from Fuutarou telling him off following the fight between Nino Nakano and Itsuki Nakano.

    Despite his treatment and attempts to rid his daughters of Fuutarou, he does admit he is impressed by Fuutarou's resolve and acknowledges his academic performance. He positively notes Fuutaoru's change in attitude towards being the sisters' tutor as opposed to Fuutarou's initial reluctance.

    Miku Nakano is the one of the main characters in the manga and anime series 5-toubun no Hanayome. She is one of the quintuplet sisters, along with Ichika, Nino, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. Miku is the third eldest of the siblings and serves as one of the main love interests for the protagonist, Futaro Uesugi.

    Miku is initially depicted as a shy and introverted character who struggles to express herself and communicate with others.     Personality Miku is a silent and reserved girl who has a pessimistic way of thinking and low confidence, even to the point of belittling herself.[9] Futaro Uesugi notes that she doesn't have faith in herself.[10] In contrary to her reserved self, she can talk in a straight forward manner and doesn't hesitate to confront others.[11] She can also be slightly possessive, as she doesn't react well when Yotsuba kisses Futaro on the cheek to wipe some cream, and overall she gets pouty whenever another girl, especially one of her sisters, gets a little too close for comfort with Futaro.

    It is shown that she has an obsession with generals from the Sengoku Period.[12] She is greatly influenced by their philosophies, to the point of affecting her real-life behavior.[13] She hides this fact from her everyone and is embarrassed when Futaro found out.[14] When Futaro challenged her to a duel of historical knowledge, she donned a set of armor similar to Takeda Shingen's.[15]

    CH4 Miku versus Fuutarou Miku versus Fuutarou. Despite her slightly negative outlook on life, such as when she asks Futaro to give up on her[16], she is the first sister to abide by the Gotoubun Principle. Miku always reminds herself to follow this principle, going as far as compromising her own interest to make sure everyone is treated equally.[17] Miku is also a genuinely kind person: she becomes the second Nakano quintuplet after Yotsuba to accept Futaro, and the first one to openly fall for him. Her interactions with him after her first character arc have her either being wholeheartedly supportive of him, gentle with him, or worried for him. She's also seen helping an old woman cross the street in one chapter.

    Miku has a depressed sense of modesty and cares little about her appearance compared to her sisters; not even acknowledging situations where her body is exposed. She didn't mind removing her long socks in front of her tutor or bother wearing flashy clothing. Despite this, she seems to harbor insecurities about her own appearance, as she confides to Nino that she doesn't view herself as cute compared to her and Ichika.

    According to Futaro, each Nakano Quintuplet has their own characteristics regarding their sheets. In Miku's case, she has good handwriting.

    Ability According to Yotsuba, Miku is the smartest among the sisters[19] with her strongest subject being Social Studies.[20] She has an extensive knowledge of Japanese History.[21] Miku secretly admired Japanese warlords in history. She has the ability to imitate her sisters' looks and personality without the others recognising; far more than the extent of Ichika's ability.[22][23]

    Miku, most likely, has the lowest physical capabilities among her sisters and she is bad at cooking.[24][25] It is implied that she has a lack of romantic knowledge, due to the fact that she's less capable to comprehend the reasoning behind human relationships.[26] She is the shy one of the family, only talking when she wants to. But later in the story, she learns to express herself more and outwards, thanks to her sister's advice.

    Nakano Quintuplets Ichika Nakano Miku pairs with Ichika for the Test of Courage.[2][3] Ichika and Miku are close, as they often seen doing activities together compared with the other sister.[4][5] They also trust each other a lot, and Miku even readily compromises her interest for Ichika's sake.[6] Miku told Fuutarou about Ichika's movie.

    Personality At first glance, the grandfather seems a senile old man not even aware of his surroundings, to the point Fuutarou even wondered if he was alive. However, when one of his granddaughters was seemingly harassed by Fuutarou, he threw the young man to the floor and threatened to kill him if he ever got close to them again.

    He's able to tell his quintuplet granddaughters apart even when they're assuming the same appearance, which he claims is thanks to "love", an advice he passes on to Fuutarou so he can learn how to tell them apart himself. Towards the end of his life, he seems to regret having caused the quintuplets to suppress their individuality, and entrusts Fuutarou to take care of them after he passes away.

    Nino Nakano is one of the main characters in the manga and anime series 5-toubun no Hanayome. She is one of the quintuplet sisters, along with Ichika, Miku, Yotsuba, and Itsuki Nakano. Nino is the second eldest of the sisters.

    Nino is depicted as a confident, strong-willed, and assertive character who is fiercely protective of her sisters. She is also known for her exceptional cooking skills, which she uses to care for her family and others. In terms of her personality, Nino is often depicted as being blunt and direct, with a no-nonsense attitude towards life. However, she can also be emotional and vulnerable, particularly when it comes to her relationships with her sisters and Futaro.

    Throughout the series, Nino's character undergoes significant development as she struggles to come to terms with her feelings for Futaro and conflicts with her sisters over his attention.     Appearance Nino is a cute and cold-looking girl with waist-length or hip-length straight hair (but it is later cut to shoulder-length in Vol. 4 Ch. 46 and shown in Vol. 5 Ch. 47) that has square bangs hanging over her eyebrows. She has reddish-pink hair, ranging from light pink to telemagenta[5] in Volume 1 and antique pink to red-violet[6] in Volume 4.

    Personality Nino has an outgoing personality and is socially aware, resulting in her having many friends and is a social butterfly.[13] She has a sharp tongue[14] and talks bluntly when confronting others, even to her sisters.[15] Her rebellious attitude makes her the least cooperative girl among the sisters, making her archetype resemble that of a "tsundere".

    Despite the cold and rude front, Nino is caring[16] and protective,[17] like when she is touched by Futaro Uesugi's past; remarking that it is tearjerking. It is also evident by her willingness to act as the cook of the family, ignoring her care towards her own appearance (culinary activities may lead to foul odor, damaged nails, etc.). She is also shown to always have band-aids with her, possibly as a precaution to Yotsuba Nakano's active behavior.[18]

    Her interests seem to lie more on romance than anything else. An example is when she wanted to watch a romance movie, whilst Itsuki Nakano preferred a science documentary instead. With this is mind, she likes to openly state her feelings for Futaro, regardless of whether it's in front of him or her sisters.

    According to Futaro, each Nakano Quintuplet has their own characteristics regarding their sheets,[19] but in Nino's case, she will file her papers neatly.

    Abilities Academically, among the sisters, Nino ranks in the lower part of the five, with her strongest subject being English.

    Nino is shown to be a good cook, ranging from daily meals to cookies to congee.[20] She is capable of making a lot of friends, as noted by Yotsuba Nakano. According to Nino, the sisters have their individual preferences, which makes it harder for her to cook for them.[21]

    She has poor eyesight, needing contact lenses for her daily activities.[22] An example is when she is incapable of recognizing Futaro Uesugi in a simple wig, implying her oblivious side.[23] However, this is possibly due to darker surroundings and her infatuation towards him being blonde.

    Nino owns various dolls on her bed where one particular doll is often seen in the background or as a cameo throughout the series[24]. Nino has a rabbit-themed phone cover[25]. Nino's dream is to open a restaurant. Nino is apparently afraid of needles, a trait she shares with Itsuki Nakano. Nino prefers black tea as it can be customized to her tastes. Nino seems to have a form of attraction towards blonde-haired people.

    Nino Nakano/Relationships Nino stated that she takes a liking towards delinquent type boys, especially those with blonde hair.[1]

    Nakano Family Maruo Nakano Nino suspects that Fuutarou and her father have some kind of arrangement, which is why she disliked Fuutarou trying to tutor her sisters.[2] She disliked her father's constant absence but has grown past this. It's heavily implied that at least part of her resentment is because she feels her father is too controlling in their lives and doesn't give them the freedom to pursue their own interests. After Nino remembers that he is one who often "scurries behind the scenes," she has become more accepting of him, though she still feels lonely to an extent that he is distant from the family.

    Nakano Quintuplets Nino's reason for hating Fuutarou is because she thinks that their home is only for the five of them.[3] Nino is revealed to actually care for her sisters and is protective about them, hence her unnatural dislike towards Fuutarou.[4][5] Nino tricked her father that all of her sisters passed.[6][7] Fuutarou realize how much Nino's care for her sisters.[8] Nino wants to have her ears pierced because her sisters' all had theirs pierced.[9] While Nino is not around, the sisters' meals are in a mess.[10]

    Ichika Nakano Ichika praises Nino's cooking.[11] Nino looks up to Ichika as an elder sister but would even go against her if necessary, especially when it comes to the safety of her sisters. Nino is angry at Ichika's attitude despite the possible danger that may befall Itsuki.[12]

    After Nino noticed Ichika's feelings and declaration to be with Fuutaro, they become the most heated love rivals as Nino showed more awareness towards her.

    Miku Nakano Nino-Miku quarrel is first shown.[13] Nino acknowledges that she picks on Miku earlier and feels bad about it.[14] Ichika notes that Nino and Miku's dynamic is similar to cats and dogs.[15] Miku labels Nino as someone who is too stubborn.[16] Miku says that Fuutarou needs to use sincerity to deal with Nino.[17]

    Miku is the one who often bickers with Nino, due to their opposing personalities. Both of them often give blunt remarks towards the other's traits or behavior, which often causes both of them to argue with one another. Despite this, there is no rift between them, and both still care for the other. Nino would even help her out if she asks for it.

    Miku reveals to Nino that she likes History and Sengoku Generals.[18]

    Yotsuba Nakano Nino always brought bandages with her because someone in her family got injured all the time.[19] During the fireworks festival, Nino warns Fuutarou to not have any ideas toward Yotsuba.

    Itsuki Nakano Nino is the one who usually wakes up Itsuki.[20] Nino pairs with Itsuki for the Test of Courage.[21][22]

    Nino is often seen together with Itsuki doing activities such as having lunch or hanging out with each other. They even go through the test of courage together. Nino is shown to be concerned for Itsuki's well-being, even going against "Ichika" when Itsuki is missing from their group while skiing.

    While the two seem to get along with each other due to their similar personalities, they also quarrel harshly when they disagree on something. After Nino goes too far in refusing to study, without any care for all the hard work Fuutarou is doing for them, Itsuki slaps her and demands that she apologizes, resulting in Nino slapping her back and the two running away from home. The others imply that this is not the first time they've fought that way.

    Others Fuutarou Uesugi At the beginning of the story, Nino is open about her hatred and dislike towards Fuutarou. She viewed him as an outsider and didn't want him to intervene with her beloved sisters. Unlike her sisters, Nino hardly ever addressed Fuutarou by his name, instead calling him as "you" or "him." Nino's first impression of Fuutarou is "someone persistent and not popular," while Fuutarou's first impressions of Nino is someone who is self-righteous. Later on, seeing as how Fuutarou was dedicated to tutoring the her and her sisters, Nino came to aknowledge how much effort he exerts and even defends him from her father, saving him from being fired after they failed the majority of their exams. It is also noted by Itsuki that following the exams and being tricked by Fuutarou that he was sick, she was merely angry and left instead of trying to kick him out. However, any progress Fuutarou made towards building a friendship with her were suddenly reversed after Nino blamed him for the fallout she had with Itsuki, yelling that she wished he "had never come into [their] lives."

    Due to Nino's infatuation towards "wild boys" and her poor eyesight, she fell for Kintarou, unaware that he was Fuutarou under a wig. She has been shown to like Kintarou considerably, as she lied about the types of boys she liked to get closer to him and wished that he was there following the argument with Itsuki. However, after realizing Fuutarou was Kintarou and seeing his persistence to reunite her with her sisters, even under a wig, she became friendler to him. She expressed less anger towards him over her sisters and even invited him to sit next to her under the kotatsu. After realizing that her lingering feelings for Kintarou were actually towards Fuutarou, she ironically becomes the first one to confess to him.

    After confessing to Fuutarou and having to repeat it again because he didn't hear the first time, she becomes very open to him and doesn't hesitate to exclaim her love for him in front of others. She is aware of her prior rudeness to Fuutarou and, knowing that she hasn't given him a reason to love her back yet, makes various attempts to be closer to him. She even changed her way of addressing to Fuu-kun, something that displeases Miku. Ichika notes that Nino's love for Fuutarou are like a runaway train, with her assertiveness being the most unpredictable out of the sisters. Despite her increasing assertiveness, she is willing to delay her own progress with him for things like Ichika's attempts to sabotage Miku's plans.

    Second Year Midterm Exam Fuutarou and the five quintuplets woke up late on the day of the mid-term exam. The group rushed to the school and only Yotsuba made it in time, while the others became occupied with unpredictable circumstances on the way. The student guidance teacher was guarding the school gate. By disguising as Yotsuba, the remaining quintuplets, Miku, Ichika, Nino and Itsuki, made it past the school gate with the teacher barely noticing. Fuutarou tried the same trick but was caught by the teacher, who then dragged Fuutarou to the teachers' office as punishment for being late.

    School Field Trip After Ichika and Fuutarou were caught in the warehouse, the teacher gave Fuutarou a long, severe scolding.

    Appearance Raiha is a slim young girl who stands at a medium height with long black hair, green eyes and a simple butterfly-shaped ribbon, holding up her hair in a high cowlick.

    Personality Raiha is a cheerful girl who is essentially the head of the family, despite her young age, since she's the one who takes care of financial matters and cooks for the family.[3] Her mother's absence forces her to spent more time at household matters, leaving her to hold back a lot of things a child normally do.[4] She cares a lot about her brother and concerned about his life, even when both of them have grown up significantly.

    History Futaro says that Raiha has been holding back all this time due to their family situation.

    Ability Raiha is good at cooking as she is able to cook various meals.[8] In chapter 23, it is revealed that Raiha has a mediocre, if not poor, constitution. Raiha is the one who cooks in the family.[9]

    Raiha is seen to have good wisdom and perception. She has a good understanding of her family issues and uses those circumstances for her/their benefit.[10] Raiha is also hinted to have a shrewd mind, capable of using her expressions to convince people to follow her lead, or exploit her cuteness to achieve her goals, as shown in several occasions.[11][12] Raiha uses her charms to entice Itsuki Nakano.[13] Raiha is able to connect the four Nakano Quintuplets with Itsuki, despite their different hair lengths and accessories, something that Futaro is unable to do.[14]

    Rena Nakano is the late wife of Maruo Nakano and the biological mother of the Nakano Quintuplets who worked as a teacher before she had succumbed to an illness when her quintuplet daughters were just ten or eleven years old.

    Appearance Rena is an extremely attractive young woman with chest-length dark-red hair that has bangs swept to the right side (she had shoulder-length hair that hangs on the right side when she was a high school student), light-colored or dark-colored eyes (dark-blue), a well-endowed figure with large breasts and full pink lips; traits that had been passed down to her quintuplet daughters.

    Because of her appearance, her beauty has charmed every male/female student.

    Personality Rena is known to be a very serious, unsociable, strict and stern woman, especially when it comes to teaching her students as she would often punish her students with iron-fist sanctions, but she was also very forgiving and for that (as well as her appearance), she was adored by her students that there was a student fan club dedicated to worship her.

    According to Itsuki Nakano's words, Rena was "a gentle and maternal female."

    Background Rena was a single mother who raised five children. Before her remarriage with Maruo Nakano, she and the quintuplets were living in poverty like the Uesugi Family where it is implied that the biological father of the quintuplets abandoned her and the children, which is why she advised the quintuplets to be careful when choosing men.[1]

    She was a teacher at a high school where she was well-loved and respected by her students and Shimoda was once her student where she was inspired by Rena to eventually work as a lecturer at a cram school.

    She passed away five years prior to the start of the story on August 14 from an unknown terminal illness and her death was a shock to the quintuplets, whom she had constantly reassured that she would be fine [2]. After her death, she is currently buried at the Nakano Family Grave where Itsuki Nakano mostly visits.

    Rena Nakano/Relationships Family Members Mr. Nakano Rena's relationship with her father seemed to have been quite obscure, although her early death had hit him hard.

    Itsuki Nakano Itsuki was definitely close to Rena as Itsuki goes to her mother's grave on the 14th of every month. Rena also acted as a role model for Itsuki, who listens to her words, especially when it came to choosing men[1]. Due to this, Itsuki aspires to become a teacher just as her mother once was.

    According to Jinnosuke Mudou and Shimoda, they comment on how Itsuki strikingly resembles Rena.

    Maruo Nakano Maruo is Rena's new husband.

    Before getting married, he was one of her students who often visited her in the hospital when she became ill.

    Other Characters Jinnosuke Mudou Before Rena remarried Maruo Nakano, she was once married to this man who is the quintuplets' biological father. It is uncertain what exactly caused them to split up, but Itsuki Nakano states that he left after finding that Rena was pregnant with quintuplets. When she was alive, she advises the quintuplets to always be careful when choosing men[2], which shows Rena's regret for marrying this man.

    Shimoda Shimoda is Rena's former student. Even as a delinquent, Shimoda admired Rena as a teacher and fell in love with her that she would later become a teacher just like her. After Rena had passed away, Shimoda would even go to her grave in order to pay her respects.

    When Shimoda encounters Itsuki Nakano at the Nakano Family Grave, Shimoda is seen wearing a black suit with a white button up shirt, no tie and black shoes.

    Personality Shimoda was inspired to become a teacher by Rena Nakano, and upon meeting her daughter Itsuki Nakano, decides to mentor her so she can pursue that dream herself.

    Despite being serious most of the time, she's prone to outbursts sometimes, like when she angrily complained about the bill after she treated Itsuki. She also tends to get rather excited when talking about the romance dramas she watches on TV.

    History Shimoda works as a lecturer at a cram school because she is inspired by Rena Nakano.

    Shimoda/Relationships Rena Nakano Even as a delinquent, Shimoda admired Rena as a teacher and fell in love with her. Shimoda would later become a teacher just like Rena. After Rena had passed away, Shimoda would even go to her grave in order to pay her respects.

    In the present, she now has long hair up to the waist with bangs swept to the right side and she still has the pin from her elementary school days. She wears a white blouse with long sleeves and long, black pants..

    Personality During the flashback, Takebayashi was portrayed as a responsible girl, acting as the class representative of her class alongside Sanada, her childhood friend. Always upbeat and wanted to have fun as well, despite being the one to keep everyone in check. She also wants to include everyone in activities, as seen from her wish to include Sanada into the playing with Fuutarou Uesugi and the rest and worrying for Fuutaro when he stayed behind to go to the bathroom for a long time.

    In the present, she seems to remain the same attitude she had with Fuutaro. She seems to have gained a bit of a teaser personality, as seen from her declaring that it was clear who was closer to Fuutaro between the quints and her, or how she teased Fuutaro over his changed looks and not remembering her despite being so close in the past. She still worried about the people she cares about, seen how glad she was that Fuutaro was able to grow out from his insecurities from the past, and seems to have a soft spot for the "girl from Kyoto" who managed to change Fuutaro to be a better person. She also seems to be extremely perceptive, as she realized the "friends" Fuutaro had were the "quadruplets" she had once met in Kyoto and she may have realized they are into him, and that she was able to deduce that Yotsuba Nakano was the "girl from Kyoto" from the information she was given.

    Takebayashi/Relationships Friends Sanada Takebayashi and Sanada were childhood friends who grew up together and their parents maintained close ties. Both being class representatives, their classmates perceived the duo to be perfect for each other. They are still close in the present, with Sanada waiting for Takebayashi after her meeting with Fuutarou Uesugi and the Nakano Quintuplets at the Sunrise Festival.

    Fuutarou Uesugi Fuutarou once had a crush on Takebayashi. During the Kyoto school trip, he secretly took many pictures of her. However, she seemed to be oblivious of his feelings. After learning about Takebayashi's childhood relationship with Sanada, Fuutarou became gloomy and bitter.

    It can be assumed that Fuutarou never spoke with anyone about his crush on Takebayashi. When talking about his first love, Raiha Uesugi mentions the girl in the photo and not Takebayashi.

    When meeting again with Fuutarou in the present, she teases him about not recognizing her just like she did. They hang out for a while during the festival. After getting cornered by Itsuki Nakano about their relationship with Fuutaro, he defends them as his "special" friends. She feels glad to see he has "grown up" from his insecure self and has found something to be proud of and wishes him to "do his best".

    The Nakano Quintuplets During the 4-chapter flashback, it was revealed that Takebayashi had crossed paths with them during Kyoto 5 years before the start of the story, accidentally bumping heads with one of them. At the time, however, she had only seen 4 of them and coincidentally, they were identical to the "girl from Kyoto" Fuutarou Uesugi bragged about after the school trip. For years, she thought they were quadruplets.

    With her official introduction in the present, Takebayashi got to meet some of them again (Nino Nakano, Yotsuba Nakano and Itsuki Nakano so far, with Miku Nakano watching her from the distance and Ichika Nakano still not aware of her existence). She teased them with who really is the closest to Fuutaro between them and her, though without ill-intent. Overall, Takebayashi feels they all "seem to be nice".

    Yotsuba Nakano After meeting Itsuki Nakano and Nino Nakano (and recognizing them as the "quadruplets of Kyoto"), she asked about the "girl from Kyoto" and was told that Yotsuba was away at the time. She concluded that it was Yotsuba who met Fuutarou Uesugi all those years ago and confronted her about it. She feels "really glad" that she got to meet the girl who changed Fuutaro's life. While Yotsuba refused to tell Fuutaro about her true identity and revealed her reasons for it, Takebayashi told her that she knows "someone" (Fuutarou) who used to think like Yotsuba and she hopes that she too can move on from her past and look forward towards the future, just like "that person".

    Abilities Yotsuba is physically fit, capable of tasks that aren't normally done by her sisters. She has excellent stamina and is a good runner. This was shown when she scored 7.9 seconds for a 50m sprint; even getting praised by a fellow skilled club member. She is the only known sister with excellent eyesight, whilst Itsuki wears glasses and Nino uses contacts. She even sports a good sense of smell and has a green thumb.

    Like her sisters, her academic abilities are poor at best; even getting zero on a test. She is well aware of her shortcomings and even stated that she would most likely be the one to repeat a year. She ranks as being the lowest among her sisters with Japanese being her forte.

    She has been noted to be terrible at lying, though she says that she could if she really wanted to. She was able to hide her false identity from Fuutarou all the while maintaining their current fake relationship.

    Yotsuba has a unique giggle: "Shi Shi Shi." This is a pun on number 4. Yotsuba has a shirt with the number "428" screened on it. This is a pun on her name's reading (Yo-Tsu-Ba). It is revealed by Ichika that she still uses her panties from elementary school days.

    Yotsuba Nakano/Relationships Nakano Quintuplets Due to Yotsuba's helpful personality, combined with her cheerful and bright traits, she is able to make a lot of friends. Yotsuba is sentimental towards familial feelings.[1]

    In Kyoto, she promised to study to lessen the load on her sisters and her mother.[2]

    Ichika Nakano Yotsuba calls Ichika as "Ichika."[3] Yotsuba often cleans Ichika's room.[4] Yotsuba tries to cheer up Ichika.[5] Ichika stole candies and stickers from Yotsuba in the past.[6] Ichika also made friends with someone Yotsuba wanted to befriend with.[7] Yotsuba is the one who would usually clean her room as it is usually in a messy state. Yotsuba looks up to Ichika as the elder sister of the family, expressing her concern for Ichika whenever she is upset and would not hesitate to help her get better.

    Ichika used to brush Yotsuba's teeth when they're kid.[8]

    Nino Nakano Nino is protective of Yotsuba. Nino always brought bandages with her because someone in her family got injured all the time.[9]

Also because of his pride, he desired to score higher than Fuutarou in a fair competition, throwing out the test answers his father gave him.

    Yuusuke Takeda/Relationships Fuutarou Uesugi Yuusuke is envious of Fuutarou because he is always academically the best student in his grade, leaving Yuusuke a pitiful second place. Yuusuke considers Fuutarou his rival, much to Fuutarou's unawareness. At school, Yuusuke mostly approaches Fuutarou in the bathroom. After Fuutarou places third in the mock exam, he becomes Fuutarou's second male friend in high school. For the Kyoto trip, he is revealed to have formed a group with Fuutarou and Maeda to explore the city together.
