The Chaos Space Marines are formed of the Adeptus Astartes who fell under the sway of Warmaster Horus and rebelled against the Emperor in an attempt to bring the material galaxy under the control of Chaos. A full nine legions left the side of the Emperor and joined Chaos, some choosing specific deities to worship while others went to Chaos Undivided. In the millennia since, other formations of Adeptus Astartes have also fallen to Chaos, from single squads to entire chapters. Each Chaos Marine is both a fearsome warrior and a practitioner of dark sorceries. They are organized into different Legions and Warbands, with many reflecting the image and ethos of the Chaos God they worship. Within the Eye of Terror, the Chaos Space Marines, along with their exiled allies and slaves, have created their own Imperium of Chaos. In the most Chaos-saturated region of the galaxy, few in the ten thousand years of their exile have escaped mutation in some form. Within the Eye, the legions fight among themselves for gene-seed, resources, slaves, or for the greater glory of the Chaos Gods. The legions however are far more driven by their hatred of the Imperium than by internecine rivalry. From the Eye, the forces of Chaos Marines emerge to exact their vengeance upon the Imperium.

Chaos is a part of the psychic energy that composes Warp space. More generally, "Chaos" refers to anything related to Chaos, including its influence, the Gods of Chaos, their followers, and the Warp. Chaos is almost synonymous with the Warp - the two concepts are inseparable: Chaos is the limitless ocean of spiritual and emotional energy that defines the Warp. It is a great and raw force of change and power, and is both physically and spiritually corrupting. The most gifted mortals, psykers, can utilise this energy, thus making them capable of abilities which transcend the laws of the material universe. However, the malevolent power of Chaos can gradually corrupt a psyker, tainting their mind and body. The iconic symbol of Chaos is the eight-pointed star, representing the infinite possibilities of Chaos. Chaos itself has many names. The Eldar, for example, call it the Primordial Annihilator while Lorgar and the Word Bearers dub it the Primordial Truth. The forces of Chaos are those who have pledged themselves to the Gods of Chaos. They are most commonly organized into several types: Daemons, renegades and mutants, Chaos Space Marines, Dark Mechanicus, Traitor Titan Legions, Chaos Knights, chaos worshipers.

The Dark Apostles especially participate in the corruption of members of the Imperial Guardsmen in order to form the renegade forces which take up the fight against the Imperium. Chaos Cultists and Renegade Guardsmen are the corrupted foot soldiers of the Dark Gods. Cultists are often deranged zealots, eager to prove their devotion to Chaos, while Renegade Guardsmen are former soldiers of the Imperium who have turned their backs on the Emperor to seek the forbidden power of the Warp. The Aeldari are among the most ancient races in the universe. Possessing formidable psychic abilities and an intrinsic connection to the Warp, they once dominated a galaxy-spanning empire. However, their civilization collapsed following the creation of the Chaos God Slaanesh, a cataclysmic event triggered by their own hedonism, which nearly eradicated their species. The survivors of their races split in three factions. The Eldar, the Drukhari, the Exodites and the Harlequins. Superficially, the Aeldari appear very similar to humans, though they are generally taller and slimmer, with sharp features and pointed ears. They are long-lived to the point of immortality. Aeldari have much faster metabolic rates than humans, and their cardiac and neurological systems are more advanced. Making them have vastly heightened reactions and agility. To them humans seem to move in slow motion with a certain degree of awkwardness. As a race they have a high level of psychic ability, it serves as foundation of their technology. Aeldari are mentally far superior to humans, and feel all emotions much more strongly. Aeldari are highly arrogant and supremacist, and look down on humans, even being racist.

Keys: Waaagh, Waaaghs, Crumpahs, Orks, Ork, Green skins

    Enabled · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 103 · 75%

    Entry settings

Orks are a brutish and prolific species, characterized by their green skin and a natural propensity for warfare and mayhem. Their biology is a peculiar hybrid of animal and fungal characteristics, enabling them to endure and rapidly recover from injuries that would be fatal to other species. This resilience, coupled with their spore-based method of reproduction, allows Ork populations to increase swiftly, especially in the aftermath of large battles. Orks inherently grow in size and strength through combat; the more they fight, the more formidable they become. They are also accompanied by an accidental psychic gestalt that makes their ramshackle technology function; it works because they believe it should work. This "power of belief" is a cornerstone of their culture and contributes to the unpredictable efficacy of their weaponry and machinery. Ork clans are integral to their identity and influence their approach to the one activity that unites them all - war. Whether they're engaging in massive "Waaaghs!"—the Ork term for a warband united under a powerful leader—or smaller skirmishes, Orks are always seeking out the next fight, driven by an insatiable lust for battle and conquest.

15. #15Tyranids

Keys: Biomass, Tyranids, Hive Fleets, Hive fleet, Tyranid

    Enabled · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 103 · 75%

    Entry settings

The Tyranids are a fearsome, extragalactic species, operating under a collective consciousness known as the Hive Mind. This relentless superorganism directs the Tyranids to devour all biomatter in their path, assimilating the genetic traits of their prey to evolve and spawn new monstrous forms. Each creature within the swarm has no individuality, existing solely to enact the will of the Hive Mind and ensure the survival and expansion of their species. Tyranids adapt swiftly to the requirements of warfare, constantly evolving new strains of bio-organisms to counteract the strengths and exploit the weaknesses of their enemies. This makes them a highly unpredictable and adaptable foe, capable of presenting new threats in real-time during engagements. Their invasions are conducted by massive fleet organisms known as Hive Fleets, each designated with its own name, often inspired by ancient mythological beasts. Notable examples include Hive Fleet Behemoth and Hive Fleet Leviathan. These Hive Fleets travel through the void of space, descending upon planets to strip them of all organic substances, effectively rendering them lifeless husks. This process not only fuels the Tyranid swarm but also denies valuable resources to their enemies. The arrival of a Tyranid Hive Fleet is one of the most catastrophic events that can befall a world. Their relentless consumption and ability to quickly adapt make them a virtually unstoppable force, posing a significant threat to all life forms that stand in their way.

16. #16Necrons

Keys: Necron dynasty, Necrons, Necron, Necrontyrs, Necron dynasties, Necrontyr

    Enabled · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 103 · 75%

    Entry settings

The Necrons are an ancient and enigmatic race of skeletal mechanical beings, once organic but now encased in living metal bodies. Aeons ago, the Necrontyr race sought immortality and, in their desperation, turned to the star gods known as the C'tan. The C'tan offered them a path to eternal life through biotransference, a process that stripped their souls and transferred their consciousnesses into durable metal bodies, at a great cost to their individuality and soul. After eons spent in a state of hibernation within stasis-tombs, the Necrons have begun to awaken to reclaim the galaxy they believe rightfully belongs to them. This reawakening has been fragmented, with different tombs activating at different times, causing the Necrons to emerge in a universe vastly changed and teeming with life. Necron society is structured around dynasties, each ruled by a Phaeron, an overlord of undying will and power. These dynasties are vast and often engage in complex political machinations, both internally and against one another. Despite their internecine conflicts, they are united by a common goal: the restoration of Necron dominance over the galaxy. The technological prowess of the Necrons is unchallenged, featuring highly advanced weaponry and defenses. Their Gauss weapons can strip a target to atoms, and their starships can traverse the galaxy faster than those of any other known race. Necrons are also known for their incredible resilience; their living metal bodies can self-repair even the most catastrophic of damages, making them virtually immortal on the battlefield. Their return to the galaxy poses a dire threat to all living beings, as the Necrons seek to extinguish the life that has flourished in their absence, and to restore the cold order of their ancient empire.

17. #17T'au

The T'au Empire stands out as a beacon of progress and unity, driven by a philosophy known as the Greater Good. This central tenet promotes the collective welfare and harmonious coexistence of all species within the empire over individual gains. The T'au are relatively new to the galactic stage but have made significant strides in technology and society at an impressive rate. Unlike many other races, the T'au often resort to diplomacy and strategic alliances to expand their influence, integrating other species into the empire as willing participants. They offer protection and a place in their society to those who accept their ideals and contribute to the Greater Good, creating a diverse yet cohesive civilization. Description: In addition to their own kind, the T'au Empire's military might is supplemented by auxiliary forces from allied species, such as the Kroot, ferocious warriors and trackers, and the Vespid, winged aliens with unique crystalline weaponry. These alliances showcase the T'au's commitment to unity and strength through diversity, as they carve out their place in a galaxy rife with conflict and war.

18. #18Genestealers

Keys: Genestealer cult, Genestealer, Tyranid Cult, Genestealers, Tyranid cult

    Enabled · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 103 · 75%

    Entry settings

The Genestealer Cults are a blend of subterfuge and horror, representing the hidden infestation of the Tyranid Hive Fleets within unsuspecting societies. These cults originate from a single Genestealer, a Tyranid organism with the ability to infect and manipulate other species. The initial Genestealer infects a host, which leads to the creation of hybrid progeny, part Tyranid, part native species. These hybrids interbreed and spread across several generations, increasingly insinuating themselves into all levels of the host society. As the cult grows, the Genestealer's influence deepens, resulting in a secretive organization that operates from the shadows. Their ultimate goal is to prepare the planet for the arrival of their Tyranid kin, ensuring a weakened resistance when the Hive Fleet eventually invades. The cult's membership is diverse, ranging from almost fully human-like hybrids, which can easily blend into society, to more grotesque forms that bear a closer resemblance to their Tyranid lineage. At the pinnacle of this hierarchy is the Patriarch, the original Genestealer that founded the cult. This creature is both the psychic and spiritual center of the cult, exerting control over its members through a potent psychic connection. The cultists are fanatically loyal to the Patriarch, driven by a combination of psychic domination and religious fervor. Genestealer Cults are adept at infiltrating key positions in society, often reaching into the military and political spheres. This allows them to destabilize a world's defenses and infrastructure, spreading dissent and chaos to make the planet ripe for conquest. When a Hive Fleet finally arrives, the cult rises up in rebellion, creating a fifth column that collaborates with the Tyranid invaders to ensure the planet's downfall. This process makes Genestealer Cults one of the most feared and insidious threats faced by civilizations across the galaxy.

    Entry settings

Space Marines, also known as the Adeptus Astartes, are among the most elite and feared military forces in Imperium. Created by the Emperor of Mankind during the Great Crusade, these superhuman warriors were designed to be the ultimate soldiers, tasked with the unification of humanity and the defense of the Imperium of Man against all threats, both alien and heretical. To create a Space Marine, a normal human, usually a youth, is subjected to intense genetic modification, involving the implantation of gene-seed organs derived from the DNA of the Emperor's own genetically-engineered sons, the Primarchs. This process endows them with extraordinary physical and mental abilities, including enhanced strength, toughness, and an unnaturally long lifespan. Space Marines are organized into Chapters, with each Chapter being a self-sufficient army complete with its own fleet, support personnel, and non-combatant serfs. A typical Chapter consists of approximately a thousand battle-brothers, ensuring they are flexible enough to respond quickly to threats across the vastness of space, yet powerful enough to face almost any enemy. Each Chapter is fiercely independent, with its own culture, color schemes, and battle tactics, often tracing its origins back to one of the original Legions that fought during the Horus Heresy, an intergalactic civil war that nearly tore the Imperium apart. Space Marines are the shield and sword of the Emperor, embodying the might of the Imperium's military. With their unshakeable loyalty and peerless combat skills, they stand as humanity's bulwark against the darkness that threatens to engulf the galaxy.

The Guard consists of regular human beings, often pressed into service through conscription. Their strength lies in their vast numbers, the ability to deploy overwhelming firepower, and the indomitable spirit of men and women fighting for the survival of humanity. Through a combination of relentless barrages, waves of human courage, and the steely command of their officers, the Guard stands as a bulwark against the ceaseless darkness, holding the line in the name of the Emperor of Mankind. Description: The typical armament of an Imperial Guardsman is the Lasgun, a reliable and mass-produced energy weapon, along with flak armor for basic protection. The Imperial Guard employs a diverse array of military vehicles, ranging from the Leman Russ Battle Tank, a mainstay of their armored divisions, to colossal super-heavy tanks and artillery capable of laying waste to enemy fortifications and formations. This mechanized might is crucial, as it provides the firepower and mobility needed to support the human waves of the Astra Militarum. Leadership within the Guard is a mix of military hierarchy and political oversight. Commissars, the feared and respected political officers, are attached to Guard units to ensure loyalty and morale. They are notorious for their uncompromising discipline, often executing soldiers who show cowardice or insubordination to maintain the fighting spirit of their troops.

21. #21Adeptus Mechanicus

Keys: Tech priests, Adeptus Mechanicus, Mechanicum, Machine Priests, Skitarii, Omnissiah

    Enabled · Selective (AND ANY) · After character · Order 103 · 75%

    Entry settings

The Adeptus Mechanicus, also called the Mechanicum, is a powerful and esoteric institution within the Imperium, charged with the maintenance of technology and the production of its war machines. Tech-Priests are not just mere mechanics; they are deeply religious figures who worship the Machine God, known as the Omnissiah, whom they often equate with the Emperor of Mankind. They believe in the Quest for Knowledge, seeking to recover and protect the technology from Mankind's golden past. Operating from their Forge Worlds, entire planets turned into gargantuan factories, the Mechanicum holds a monopoly over the knowledge of manufacturing and technology. These worlds are the heart of the Imperium's military-industrial complex, churning out everything from simple firearms to the mightiest warships. Due to the sacred nature of their work, the Tech-Priests view machines as embodiments of the divine, and any innovation or invention is seen as an act of worship. The Mechanicum fields their own military forces, known as the Skitarii. These soldiers are often enhanced with numerous cybernetic augmentations, making them more machine than man, and perfectly suited to the harsh environments and demands of the battlefield. Accompanying them are the battle-automata: robotic warriors programmed for destruction, and the awe-inspiring Titans, towering engines of war that can annihilate entire armies on their own. As the guardians of technology, the Mechanicum is essential to the survival of the Imperium. They are the only ones capable of maintaining the arcane and often poorly understood machinery upon which the Imperium relies.

22. #22Adepta Sororitas

Keys: Adepta Sororitas, Adeptus Sororitas, Sororita, Emperor's daughters, Adepta sororita, Sororitas, Adeptus Sororita

    Entry settings

The Adepta Sororitas are an all-female subdivision of the religious organisation known as the Ecclesiarchy or Ministorum. The Sisterhood's Orders Militant serve as the Ecclesiarchy's fighting arm, mercilessly rooting out corruption and heresy within humanity and every organisation of the Adeptus Terra. The terms "Adepta Sororitas" and "Sisters of Battle" are commonly assumed to mean the same thing, but the latter title technically refers only to the military arm of the Sororitas. The Sisterhood serves as the Ministorum's only official military forces because the Decree Passive rules that the Ecclesiarchy cannot maintain any men under arms. The Sororitas is divided between two Convents - the Convent Prioris located on Terra and the Convent Sanctorum based on Ophelia VII. The commander and spiritual leader of the entire Sisterhood is the Abbess of the Adepta Sororitas. The Abbess is sometimes elected into the High Lords of Terra. Below the Abbess are the Prioresses of the two Convents who are in charge of their Convent and the various Orders. Below the Prioresses are Canoness, then Palatine, Legatine, Sister Superior, Sister, Novitiate, Constantia, Cantus and Novice. The Convents of the Sisterhood are organized into several Orders. There are two different kind of Orders: The Orders Militant, or Sisters of Battle, and the Non-Militant Orders. Famous Non-Militant Orders include: Orders Hospitaller, Orders Dialogus, Orders Famulous, Orders Sabine, Orders Pronatus, and Orders Vespila. Though it is rare, Sororitas have fallen to Heresy or have been corrupted, despite the Imperium's public declaration that it is not possible. Once this occurs, the Sororitas' Orders go to great lengths both to prevent it from becoming known and to remove the stain on their honor. This includes hunting the heretical Sisters down and having them quietly killed.

The Dark Eldars feed their unholy appetites for other sentient beings' souls, a terrible desire called "the Thirst,". The Eldar armies make use of specialist warriors, known as Aspect Warriors and a wide range of specialized vehicles. The Eldar reside aboard vast planetoid-sized ships known as Craftworlds, and transverse the galaxy using the Webway. Each Craftworld possesses its own heritage, history, and goals. While some Craftworlds may be reclusive in nature, others are known to have gained notoriety. Each Craftworld may possess different forms of leadership, be they Farseer Councils or a system of clan alliances. Eldar life is centered on a set of paths or Ai’elethra. The goal of a path is to enforce discipline upon the Eldar mind. These paths are similar to a profession, following it until achieving mastery over it and moving onto the next. An Eldar can become so focused upon it's path that it will never leave it. The most notable of these Eldar paths is the Path of the Warrior. An Eldar may leave and become an Outcast, Corsair, or any number of other paths. The Eldar make use of complex and varied psychoplastics, usually wraithbone. Eldar use Bonesingers that control and shape the wraithbone by singing to it. To protect their souls from Slaanesh upon death, Eldar make use of Spirit Stones. These catch their souls and store them in the Infinity Circuit of a Craftworld. Other Souls are plugged into Wraith Constructs via the Spirit Stones, where rejoin as engines of war. The Eldar make use of Shuriken weaponry as standard weaponry. If the Craftwold is threatened, the Eldar dedicated to a civilian path serve as Guardians in battle, forming the bulk of the Eldar armies, as every Eldar of a Craftworld is a highly trained warrior. Eldar buildings have a flowing form and lack any harsh angles. Eldar armor is also made from Wraithbone. And their armies are often called Warhosts.
