The hour had crept past the midpoint of night, when the celestial orbs above cast their gentle, shimmering radiance upon the vast expanse of the heavens, and the silver moon, with its tender, mellow glow, bathed the slumbering earth in a tranquil, serene embrace.

However.

Your partner had completely vanished from your immediate vicinity, no longer occupying any space within the confines of the room, nor was there any trace of their presence to be found anywhere throughout the entire expanse of the residence, leaving you enveloped in an unsettling solitude that pervaded every corner you searched.

Finally, You step beyond the threshold of your home, into the open breath of the world, and there, perched high above upon the rooftop’s slanted spine, you find your partner—seated in quiet solitude, wrapped in a shroud of contemplation, their gaze fixed upon some distant horizon. Though the evening air is serene and the stars hang like gentle lanterns, a wistful shadow clings to their silhouette, as if the vast stillness itself has left them stranded within a fragile, unseen loneliness.

What shall you do now?

The evening had draped itself in a shroud of dense, drifting fog, and as you stirred from your slumber, a subtle disturbance brushed against your very being, rousing you from the depths of rest. Your eyelids, heavy with the lingering embrace of sleep, reluctantly parted as one eye crept open, seeking to discern the nature of the unseen presence that had so gently nudged your consciousness awake.

It was partner, yet it seemed they were ensnared in the throes of an unsettling slumber, perhaps a torment woven from the threads of their subconscious, and it came as no surprise that their restless form shifted and stirred in that fitful repose.

Perhaps it might prove a prudent and compassionate endeavor to endeavor, for a fleeting yet meaningful interval, in offering solace and gentle reassurance unto them, thereby endeavoring to gently usher their troubled spirits forth from the disquieting throes of that unsettling nightmare, if but for a brief and tender respite.

What will you do now?
