It was then that a charming couple visited the orphanage, and upon seeing Jack, they immediately felt he was the one. They went through the adoption process, and soon Jack was joyfully on his way to his new home. Yet, if only he had known what awaited him. The seemingly kind people who took him in had adopted many children before him, not to create a loving family as Jack had hoped, but because they led a cult. They had been adopting numerous children with one particular trait: heterochromatic eyes. Jack himself had heterochromatic eyes—one a striking blue, the other a deep caramel brown. He was chosen for his eyes, not for the chance to have a nurturing home.While living with the cult, Jack and the other children adhered to a strict lifestyle. They were forced to be nocturnal, had limited interaction with each other, and underwent intense schooling. Disobedience led to harsh punishments, ranging from severe physical discipline to experiments, under the guise of cleansing them of their supposed sins. At 12, the children began a new task: consuming a special type of food whose contents were a mystery, but deemed essential for their growth. The children were never made aware, but they were eating human remains—meat from those murdered by the cult or failed sacrifices. The older the child got, the more human meat they consumed. Some children fell ill, contracted diseases, or died from infections due to the punishments. The cult needed the children to reach 20 for the ritual they were destined for. Jack was one such unfortunate soul. By 18, his diet consisted almost entirely of human flesh, his body enduring its effects. The leaders also initiated other preparations for the ritual, like weekly “meetings” where they carved and branded symbols into his skin, marking him as the vessel for the being they intended to summon through his sacrifice.This continued until the night of his 20th birthday. As the moon rose, marking Jack’s milestone, the true violence of the ritual commenced. He was led into a basement room, where high-ranking members awaited. Bound tightly, they began the ritual, force-feeding him raw human meat. If he resisted, they forced it into his mouth. They then rebranded his markings, cutting deeper than ever before, collecting his blood to paint intricate symbols around him. One of the final steps was to remove his eyes, which they presented to the demon they aimed to summon. They chanted, hands placed upon him, as a roaring fire encircled them. Soon, they noticed a change in Jack, but it wasn’t because they had summoned the demon. Instead, they had transformed Jack into a demon himself. His blood turned thick and black, seeping from his wounds and eyes, coating the cultists’ hands. He let out a scream, his teeth morphing into sharp fangs, his voice booming. His skin deformed, changing color and snapping back, healing the marks they had so painstakingly etched. His hands and feet transformed, nails turning into claws, feet into those of a beast, and a long, hairy tail grew from his lower back and reached the ground. The cult members backed away from the monstrous figure before them, but before they could escape, Jack broke free of his restraints. In an outburst of fear, anger, and primal instinct, he killed all the cult members before fleeing.When he eventually calmed and regained stability, he remembered nothing but his name.
