   Kyouko Mejiro (目メ代ジロキョウコ, Mejiro Kyōko?) is a private detective who is an important character throughout most of the manga's story. Prior to the story, Kyouko had befriended Nazuna Nanakusa in high school, eventually discovering her true heritage as a vampire. On her eighteenth birthday, Kyouko's father, who had been transformed into a vampire, attacked both Kyouko and her mother, succeeding in killing the latter. This forced Kyouko to kill him in self-defense, with the event leaving lifelong scars on her life and mind. This family tragedy drove her to despise vampires, and she set out to become an adept detective under the new name Anko Uguisu (鶯ウグイスアンコ, Uguisu Anko?). She plotted to eradicate the entire vampire race as a means to kill Kiku Hoshimi, the true cause of her trauma and the murder of her parents.

   Ten years after her investigations began, Anko encountered Kou Yamori, a teenager who Anko was aware had been friends with Nazuna.

   So far, she is the only human who managed to kill a vampire, although the amount she has managed to kill is unknown.

   Anko has brown hair, which she partially ties to a bun or ponytail, and brown, lusterless eyes, over which she wears round glasses that belonged to her father.

   Her primary outfit consists of a beige trench coat, under which she wears a dark turtleneck t-shirt, a black skirt with a zipper, and light-brown boots with heels. She wears black gloves that cover half of one hand each. Later, she wears her coat less frequently and cuts her hair short, making it resemble the haircut she had in the past.

   As a teenager, Anko wore a baggy blue seifuku while going to school. Her regular outfit was the same as her current one. In her youth, her pupils were more frequently visible and her eyes generally had more light in them as opposed to her vacant eyes in the present. Her facial expressions also tended to be more lively.

   On Halloween, she wore two different costumes as a disguise, first dressed like a grim reaper and then like a policewoman. [1]

   Personality

   Anko is a very straightforward, observant, and sociable woman with a primarily casual attitude who enjoys messing around with others; however she can change her mood in the blink of an eye and quickly unsettle someone, either by becoming completely serious or displaying the more unstable side of her personality. In the latter case, it becomes apparent that she isn't fully sane.

   Her profession aside, Anko doesn't strictly keep herself within the bounds of law, as evidenced by her owning a handgun and a butterfly knife, as well as not reporting Kou for working illegally under Nazuna's snooze shop. She explained in her youth that she cares less if something is "just", but whether it goes against her personal beliefs.

   As a teenager, Kyouko Mejiro was a loner, though still well-adjusted. She was a member of the literature club and preferred spending her free time in the club's room, where she frequently read books, being particularly interested in detective stories. However, she was disillusioned with the profession and knew detectives such as those she read about in crime novels were an exaggeration, whereas in actuality they were mostly hired for cases far less important or interesting. Kyouko had issues with men and rejected a boy who asked her out, with the boy leaving in tears, but she was very open about her attraction to girls. Underneath the surface, Kyouko was highly affected by her toxic household and liked to stay at school until late at night for that reason.

   One of her most defining traits was her hatred for vampires. She was extremely ruthless and determined to wipe them out, exhibiting sociopathic behavior. Her actions were sometimes noted to be reckless, having little regard for her own life or well-being, such as when she attacked two vampires head-on. Anko often showed little to no empathy when injuring them and was even shown to be somewhat sadistic and psychotic, such as when she maniacally laughed while repeatedly stabbing Akkun in the gut[2

   Anko also has a goofy side that is shown on some occasions, for example, early on in the story when she genuinely thinks that Kou wants to be in a relationship with her, and subsequently feels awkward when she turns out to be incorrect[4]. When drunk, she occasionally makes dirty jokes and becomes a "sexually harassing geezer." Kou once even remarks that she attempts to strike a dramatic pose whenever he enters her office. Anko is serious about romance, and is starved for a romantic relationship. She is attracted to both men and women, including children of middle school age. She has little to no self-control when staring at female bodies.

   After getting a new chance in life, Anko gave up hunting vampires, feeling completely exhausted and regretting her actions for a variety of reasons, even sincerely apologizing to Nico Hirata for shooting her. Adjusting to a normal life felt difficult for Anko as she never experienced anything an average adult would, like friends and romance. While she isn't interested in killing vampires after choosing to turn her life around, Anko feels homey in an abnormal life, being determined to find Kiku Hoshimi and help Kou. After the Halloween incident, Anko became more of a calmed-down analyst who often makes blunt and sarcastic remarks. She still doesn't value her own life much, remarking that any vampire intending to kill her is "free to come."

   Despite giving up on revenge, Anko still hadn't healed from her trauma and harbored pent-up frustrations, longing for some satisfaction she couldn't get. After confronting the person who caused her trauma, she spent some more time closing that chapter of her life for good. Eventually, Anko decided she had no purpose in her hometown anymore and decided to go to Vietnam with Susuki to learn more about the vampires there, saying that it was uncertain whether she would return home. Despite this, Kyouko would eventually return to Japan, but the exact location therein is unknown[5

   Nanakusa Nazuna?) is a carefree vampire from birth who was raised by Kabura Honda before attending a night school, where she met and befriended Kyouko Mejiro. By the time she chose to live a life by her own presence, Nazuna encountered Kou Yamori, a night roaming middle schooler in Komori whose blood tasted astonishingly delicious. In an exchange for spending time with Kou every night and drinking his blood, Kou intended to fall in love with Nazuna to become a vampire himself, a topic that discomforted Nazuna.

   As time passed on, Nazuna's relationship with Kou grew more intimate, with her wishing to protect his life. However, when the two came into conflict with Nazuna's vengeful first friend, Kyouko, she chose to take responsibility and clash with her for the sake of the vampire race. In the climax of the fight, Nazuna refused to murder Kyouko, and after the latter's attempted suicide resulted in Kou's “half-vampire” self to emerge, the two finally reconciled. Whilst investigating Kou's new, strong, and maniacal physiology with Kyouko's aid, Kou had a fallout with Mahiru Seki, so Nazuna, along with a large number of new friends, chose to support him and travel to Hokkaido to help Kou and Mahiru make amends. Unfortunately, the events that occured on Hokkaido put a strain on Nazuna's and Kou's relationship.

   Nazuna is a reasonably short woman, standing just a head or so higher than a middle school boy. Her body is skinny and petite, with a small bust and spindly arms, the latter of which hide her immense vampiric strength very well.

   Her hair is a very light purple, appearing almost grey, not silver. She keeps it long enough to reach the middle of her back; however, she keeps it in two long braids that she then curls up and pins to the rest of her hair, making two large rings. She has bangs that go down almost to her eyes, covering her eyebrows, and two medium-length tufts of hair that hang down from the middle of her head, framing her face and ending just at her mouth.

   She has fierce blue eyes. Instead of standard irises and pupils, her eyes have an almost target-like appearance with black rings that intersperse sections of her irises, getting smaller as they get to the middle until they reach the pupil. This gives her a piercing gaze that varies between uncanny and uncomfortable depending on how she looks at someone. She wears light-red eye shadows.

   Nazuna can most often be seen wearing a large piece of clothing resembling a cross between a cloak and a hooded jacket. This large piece of clothing covers nearly all of her body, going down to the middle of her calves and leaving only her hands exposed.

   Underneath the large cloak, Nazuna's general attire is a pair of black denim shorts that go down to just past her upper thigh and a black leather cropped keyhole shirt with no sleeves. Unlike other keyhole tops, hers has a collar that goes up higher and covers a good portion of her neck. It also has a similar back hole showing her shoulder blades. Hers is also very cropped, short enough that it ends just beneath her breasts and leaves a large section of her stomach and back uncovered. She also wears a pair of thigh-high leather boots with wedge heels and occasionally leather gloves to complete her distinctive look.

   Just like almost any other vampire that has appeared, she is described as pretty or cute. In fact, her looks catch the attention of multiple attendants at a pool party[2]. Nazuna is a very laid-back individual. She is not overly friendly but has a very relaxed presence in most situations. She's willing to talk to just about anyone and prefers keeping on good terms with most people. However, there are exceptions like Nico Hirata and her clique, who she finds very annoying and isn't interested in being on good terms with until later. Nazuna is often fairly insensitive and often drops unintentionally mean comments or actual insults, though she sometimes feels regret for it later on. She isn't shy to threaten others with death or suggest killing someone but doesn't have it in her to kill people she is/was close with. If another vampire shows interest in her prey, Nazuna becomes highly agitated and possessive.

   Nazuna gets along with people who enjoy the night and loves to show people new things in the town's nightlife. She isn't used to modern technology, owning retro gaming consoles, not owning a smartphone, and carrying an old-school brick-like cellphone. For that reason, she can become very excited if something new presents itself, even if it's something like a walkie-talkie. Despite pretending to know everything about the night and having fun, Nazuna spends most of her time drinking alcohol and playing video games and lives a boring life. Her perverted and impolite personality aside, Nazuna is a genuine expert in her line of work, having extensive knowledge about the art of massages and human anatomy. That doesn't mean she acts like a professional at her job; when Kiyosumi Shirakawa unexpectedly arrives at her door, she forces the inexperienced Kou to step in for her due to feeling tired from giving him a massage prior. When Kou hesitates, Nazuna tempts him with the promise that he will get to touch Kiyosumi's attractive body. When Kou still refuses, Nazuna guilt-trips him by saying she didn't work for a month to spend time with him, and then tempts Kou further by promising him half of the salary and another kiss.

   Nazuna is often defined by her strong immaturity, being less mature than a middle schooler. She is very open about sexual topics, has no problems discussing them, and loves to make dirty jokes. However, she is very romance-averse and reacts strongly in embarrassment to the word "love" when used in the romantic sense.

   Kou Yamori (夜ヤ守モリコウ, Yamori Kō?) is the main protagonist of Call of the Night. He is a middle school student who began skipping classes to venture around his home city Komori at late night. Since he first began roaming around, Kou befriended Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire who he intended to develop romantic feelings for in order to be able to be turned into a vampire by her. His close time with Nazuna caught the attention of a group of vampires, led by Nico Hirata, who confirmed that Kou would be assassinated if he were not to become a vampire within a year. However, Kou and Nazuna succeeded in befriending each of them within a couple of months. Throughout his insomnia nights, he had came across more friends he had ever had before, and eventually, Kou encountered Anko Uguisu, a detective who sought to eliminate all vampires.

   Kou and Nazuna grew closer to each other as friends, and they went up against Uguisu's campaign in order to save their allies. After discovering the detective's true identity as Kyouko Mejiro, Kou and Nazuna clashed with her during Halloween, and when Kyouko/Anko attempted to commit suicide, Kou prevented her from doing so, which ultimately allowed his half-vampire self, a hybrid between humans and vampires, to surface. Coming to good terms with the reformed Anko, the three of them began investigating the nature of his half-vampire state, and during the process, Kou had a brutal fallout with his friend, Mahiru Seki, who had been acquainted with Kiku Hoshimi. In search of Mahiru to reconcile, Kou, along with his new friends, chased after Kiku and joined a school trip to Hokkaido, where Kou was almost murdered by Kiku before making amends with Mahiru.

   Kou is a boy with a slender and relatively short build. He has eyes with small pupils featuring eye bags. Despite usually being portrayed as black, Kou's eyes sometimes appear to be amber-colored. He has short black hair with a spiky profile. He usually wears black baggy shorts and a white t-shirt underneath a predominantly black jacket with a white stripe down each sleeve. He also wears a pair of white leather shoes for footwear. Later on, he is occasionally seen with an earring on his left ear. After his jacket gets damaged, he replaces it with another one that looks almost identical but has two slightly different white stripes on its sleeves.[3]

   Kou's school uniform consists of a grey suit with a white shirt, a striped tie underneath, grey pants, and a wide black belt. On the school trip, he still wears his casual outfit despite Hokkaido's harsh climate, claiming he is not bothered by it because he wears Heattech underneath. That claim is questionable, as he still wears shorts, exposing his legs to the cold.

   After working for Anko Uguisu for years, Kou's fashion style has become noticeably similar to that of his boss; he wears a trench coat with a black turtleneck shirt underneath, along with fur-trimmed boots with heels. In addition, he also wears black pants. He has also grown taller, being a good head higher than Nazuna. Nazuna noted that he's got more piercings now. Kou's hair has grown out and is now tied in a ponytail, possibly to honor Mahiru.

   Kou is a gloomy and reserved boy who has been that way since early childhood. He preferred to watch ants carry their food instead of hanging out with other children. After entering middle school, he became charismatic, friendly, upbeat, and a showcase student. Although he seems to have enjoyed a satisfying and successful life being an honor student, that was a facade. Despite being proud of his popularity, Kou didn't have fun at school. He wasn't motivated enough to maintain his excellent school performance. He also couldn't relate to other people, nor could he understand the concept of love.

   He prefers to walk around at night, enjoying the freedom it provides, and sees becoming a vampire as the last step that will make him able to live that lifestyle for eternity. Before, Kou lived the majority of his life without purpose, wandering aimlessly, never knowing what he wanted to become in the future. The goal to become a vampire made him feel a purpose for the first time ever.

   Kou was rather rigid at first, feeling nervous when sneaking out of his apartment for the first time and being very anxious when he was about to buy alcohol from a vending machine. The more he explored the freedom of the night through Nazuna's encouragement, the more used to it he became.

   Kou has a strong sense of justice which he is very vocal about, and is quick to scold someone whom he perceives as amoral. However, his morals can differ from the norm; he doesn't think killing someone is inherently wrong, as sometimes one has no other choice. Seri Kikyou describes him as someone who values the lives of his friends above those of others.

   Aside from his lack of understanding of love, Kou is generally confused about his own emotions. He thought his excitement after his first kiss was love when it was actually only lust. Despite claiming not to mind loneliness and having acted indifferent towards others when he was younger, Kou yearns for contact with other people. That was shown when he put a walkie-talkie on a postbox in the past, hoping that a random person would find it.[4]

   As the story progresses, Kou undergoes noticeable emotional growth. He opens up more, shows more emotion, becomes more determined to reach his goals, is more confident, and is generally more lively. His charisma is present even when he is not putting on a facade, which makes him very popular among his peers and vampires, particularly females. Kou also has moments where he is fed up with others, not holding back in verbal conversations. After suffering tremendous loss, Kou decided to go back to school to distract himself and seemed to be drifting apart from his night owl lifestyle before eventually returning to

   Despite getting grossed out and embarrassed by lewd topics, he is repeatedly shown to be quite lecherous and subconsciously stares at big breasts. When investigating creepshots of Arisa being taken in the "Vamp" Cafe, Kou concludes that the photos were taken by Arisa herself, with one reason being that the images don't show anything explicit like her panties. Anko Uguisu says that, while he doesn't own adult magazines, he downloads specific pictures on his phone, regrets doing it, and deletes them, only to repeat the process.

   Kou is mature for his age and doesn't seem to be afraid of many things; for example, he roams the nights alone as a 14-year-old without much fear and gets involved with vampires without further doubt, making Akira doubt his intelligence. However, Kou can be very intelligent, picking up on things that others don't and often being able to see past other people's lies. Moreover, he has conversations with far more experienced and older people without any problems.

   When he first turned into a half-vampire, Kou's personality changed drastically, making him bloodthirsty and unhinged, like when he gleefully attacked Mahiru after the latter beat him up first, almost killing him before Nazuna interfered. However, his intent was only to punch and hurt Mahiru. The transformation also affects his personality in his human state as he has become more prone to anger, more assertive, and more intimidating, though that hasn't erased his old self.

   Akira Asai (朝アサ井イアキラ, Asai Akira?) is a middle school student and a childhood friend of Kou Yamori and Mahiru Seki. A dedicated follower of authority, Akira does everything expected from a good student despite her utter lack of enthusiasm. Recently, Akira started to develop insomnia due to her life feeling unsatisfying because of her lack of human connection, both at school and at home, and started waking up at 4 AM and going to school early. After her friend was rejected when she confessed to Kou as per Akira's suggestion, Kou began skipping school to roam around at night. Not long after the first time, Akira came across him and met Nazuna Nanakusa, a vampire.

   Akira is a teenage girl with a voluptuous build. She has short hair whose coloration varies between black and dark brown. Her eyes have tiny pupils and no visible iris. While her eyes are usually colored black, they are also depicted as amber-colored. Akira has a noticeable upper bust, a feature acknowledged by several characters, and an angular face.

   Outside, she usually wears a school uniform consisting of a long-sleeved white shirt, a striped tie, brown loafers, and a grey skirt. In addition, her uniform also features a grey blazer during the colder months. In PE class, Akira wears the school-issued dark-colored track jacket with sleeves that are white on the upper half, and black shorts. She also ties her hair in a ponytail during PE. At home, she is always shown wearing a sleeveless shirt and pajama shorts.

   At one point she was put in a maid outfit, much to her embarrassment.[3]

   Akira, despite not having fun at school, is a mature and disciplined student who obediently follows her school duties and takes her education serious. She is approachable and perceptive, and maintains a close relationship with her friends Kou Yamori and Mahiru Seki. As a little girl, she was lively and talkative but later became gloomy, blunt, and snarky. Reasons for that are her boring time at school, where she puts on an honor student facade and feels alienated from the girls as she used to spend her time with boys.

   Another factor is her situation at home. She doesn't seem to have a good relationship with her family and does nothing but repeat the same daily routine. At one point, she "wasn't able to bring herself out anymore" and seems to suffer from depression. She gets grossed out when someone says something too positive, like Kou praising Mahiru or the latter talking about "liking someone." Recently, her lively side has resurfaced to some extent.

   For the most part, Akira is a "by-the-book" person who rigorously follows school protocol and has a strict sleeping schedule that involves going to sleep at 8 PM and waking up as early as 4 AM so she can take a walk before going to school. Even if others perceive that as weird, Akira sees it as entirely normal. She also frequently encourages her friends to get sleep and focus on their education. When her friends are involved, however, Akira supports their lifestyles, even if they go against the norms of society, and is willing to get into trouble, particularly when their well-being is in danger. When around her peers, particularly Kou, Akira acts like a guardian figure, causing Michiko to give her nicknames like "Miss Guardian" and "Mom." Her friends often seek advice from her on how to handle their problems, making Akira a sort of counselor for them.

   Akira has a relatively carefree attitude, quickly accepting the existence of vampires. While she's usually very cool-headed, she can also quickly feel overwhelmed by a situation and lose her cool, particularly if she feels scared or embarrassed. She has a strong suspicion of vampires and mostly wants to stay away from them, getting embarrassed, weirded out, and disgusted by their antics.

   She can be hot-tempered and has no qualms about using physical violence against people close to her when irritated, like when she hits Mahiru for requesting her to summon Hanako-san and then hits him again for scaring her by imitating the ghost's voice, or when she wrestles Kou and Mahiru to the ground due to being frustrated by their lack of communication skills.

   Even though Akira had no problem socializing, it quickly got boring for her until she met the two boys with whom she shared several traits, like her views on things, her inability to relate to other people, and, later on, her lack of happiness.

   Mahiru Seki (夕セキ真マ昼ヒル, Seki Mahiru?) was a former middle school student and a childhood friend of Kou Yamori and Akira Asai. On the surface, Mahiru came off as perfect; he had good grades but wasn't a nerd, played sports, was charming and upbeat, got along with everybody, and his parents owned a flower shop. In truth, Mahiru suffered from heavy trauma caused by being utterly neglected by his parents after his older brother died.

   Despite being surrounded by students who adored him, he only enjoyed the company of Kou and Akira. While working at his family's flower shop, Mahiru met Kiku Hoshimi, a vampire who eventually developed a relationship with him. Seeking to become a vampire himself to escape his everyday life, he started dating Kiku, and as time passed, Kiku had Mahiru ultimately struck with love and abiding by her influence

   Mahiru is a young boy with a darker faint skin tone who usually wears his school uniform consisting of a gray blazer, under which he wears a red hoodie, gray pants, and white tennis shoes. His hair is dark blonde and tied in a little ponytail.

   After choosing to become a vampire, he lets his hair down and starts to wear baggy clothes, described by Kou as "looking tired."

   Personality

   Mahiru is a kind person that tries to keep a good and relaxed atmosphere with the people around him, able to socialize with his classmates and teachers, making him very popular in school.

   But that's a facade under which lies a depressed and traumatized person who resents his family for the emotional abuse they put him through. He genuinely loves flowers and hoped to inherit his parents' flower shop as a child. But later, he ended up hoping the shop would vanish along with his household. Similar to Kou and Akira, his only genuine friends, socializing with his schoolmates is not fun to him. He is tired of constantly being pressured to spend time with them and feels a catharsis after telling them his real feelings, despite getting beaten up by them. Mahiru was a timid and quiet child but started copying his brother's personality after he died so he could become popular. Despite not seeing them as real friends, Mahiru felt lonely without the other students.

   During his time spent with Kiku Hoshimi, Mahiru undergoes a dramatic personality change, becoming rude, blunt, violent, and enthusiastic about killing humans. However, it turns out that he acted that way because he was distressed by Kiku's looming death. After fighting with Kou, he mellows out. His depression has become more apparent; his words often have a melancholic undertone, and he isolates himself from everyone except Kiku. Despite being willing to abandon his friends and family, he is still attached to Kou and Akira.

   Kiku Hoshimi (星ホシ見ミキク, Hoshimi Kiku?) is among the oldest vampires in history, on a quest to discover how to revert back to being human that lasted for five centuries. Believing the theory that a vampire who sucked the blood of the human they loved would also become human, Kiku spent lifetimes attempting to fall in love with humans, but to no avail, as she kept accidentally making them into her underlings, to the point she had the most underlings among the vampire race.

   Eventually, she crossed paths with Mahiru Seki and developed a relationship with him. On the verge of experiencing the emotion of romance, Kiku had the lovestruck Mahiru under her bidding, motivating him to disregard everything and everyone in his life and only center his mind on her. Her actions and influence captured the attention of Kou Yamori, who had become a hybrid between human and vampire, Nazuna Nanakusa and Kyouko Mejiro, so Kiku and Mahiru fled to Hokkaido. Now knowing the feeling of love, Kiku prepared for the night of her theoretical transformation, but after attempting to murder Kou, she was confronted by Anko Uguisu, who blamed her for her parents's deaths, though the two finally set aside their differences.

   Appearance

   Kiku is a young-looking woman with a slender build, a noticeably prominent forehead and a pretty appearance, featuring a narrow face, shoulder-length light brown hair, and eyes with a piercing and unsettling gaze. She prefers to wear coats, tops, skirts, stockings, and high heels.

   Kiku had an unpredictable personality; on the outside, she seemed friendly and empathetic and thereby quickly became friends with Mahiru Seki, who met her often due to his part-time job as a flower courier. She was the vampire with the most underlings; according to Hatsuka Suzushiro, she had over 50 of them, although she mentioned that she didn't really want to have underlings and accidentally transformed them. She usually abandoned them after they turned into vampires.

   She was exceptionally secretive and enigmatic, watching people from afar and almost always being ahead of others in situational awareness. With the exception of her late friend, Kiku rarely ever spent time with other vampires, though she had connections that she used to her advantage. Azami said that she would know if someone tailed her for too long. If she got directly confronted, she either made sure to silence her opponent or fled and used her environment to her advantage.

   Kiku was a highly twisted individual who enjoyed toying with people and was arrogant as she saw herself as superior compared to vampires like Nazuna, mockingly calling her out for risking the exposure of vampires to humans despite doing the same, not caring about the consequences of her actions. She was happy to use intimidation to scare off people who tried to get in her way, torture or murder them, and had a terrifying presence.

   Like Haru Nanakusa, Kiku had the objective of becoming human again. Though she was bored with her life as an immortal vampire, it wasn't her main reason, unlike Haru's. Kiku believed that falling in love with a human would let her become human herself.

   Due to her unsuccessful search for love, Kiku became mentally unstable. When she confronted Anko Uguisu, she had a breakdown, laughing maniacally and simultaneously boasting and despairing over nobody, not even herself, knowing "what is fucking wrong with her." [1] She was incredibly insecure and believed that Mahiru had to sever all past connections he had for her sake, lest the love wasn't real in her eyes. When Mahiru still showed attachment to Kou, she attempted to drown the latter. Kiku didn't know what love felt like in the first place and based her expectations on romantic stories, such as those in movies. Relationships

   Hatsuka Suzushiro (蘿スズ蔔シロハツカ, Suzushiro Hatsuka?) is a vampire who is in the same clique as Nico Hirata. Despite what the appearance suggests, Hatsuka is a man who just thinks women's clothes suit him. He supports Nazuna Nanakusa and Kou Yamori on their journey to turn Kou into a vampire by having him fall in love with Nazuna.

   Hatsuka is a man of small stature with an androgynous physique, having a rather masculine but skinny upper body and feminine hips. He has shoulder-length black hair with blunt bangs that end just above his eyes and two smaller hair strands that run down each side of his face. The hair is styled in an undercut, leaving the lower half of his head shaven. His eyes appear black from a distance but are actually granite grey.

   He prefers to dress femininely, which he says is because it suits him better and attracts both men and women to him, in turn furthering his goal as a vampire of producing more offspring. He mainly wears dresses and coats. His footwear consists of dark calf-length boots, smaller shoes, and slippers when he is at home.

   On Halloween, he wore a maid outfit as he helped Midori advertise her maid café.

   Personality

   Hatsuka, unlike his vampire comrades, is a relatively laid-back individual. As a result, he is the only one who doesn't try to put Kou under his spell initially. However, he later expresses curiosity for the taste of Kou's blood since it is described as delicious and offers to make him his servant when Kou is at risk of getting killed by the other vampires. He believes that he'd make the best partner for Kou, saying they would get along well as fellow men and therefore only he could truly understand Kou's heart. Compared to the other vampires, Hatsuka seems friendlier, more helpful and level-headed. He is usually not as straightforward as the others but somewhat more distant and occasionally bored. He, like his friends, is fond of alcohol and invested in romantic stories but, unlike them, mostly tends to keep his thoughts to himself. Hatsuka doesn't hesitate to call others out if he finds them annoying.

   Hatsuka is intelligent, carefree, and seeks enjoyment in life. He can read others very well and can predict other people's sentences before they are finished talking. While he doesn't understand his preference for feminine clothes, he doesn't care much either and dresses in women's clothes because it looks good on him. He considers himself male despite how he presents himself and is not opposed to the male gender. When Kou mentions that he's been thinking about "doing as he wants" and "letting others decide for him," Hatsuka has a brief flashback of a person in a female school uniform, hinting that he had a similar experience in the past.

   Hatsuka believes that people are weak to contrast; a person who is used to dressing a certain way will evoke a stronger reaction if they radically change their appearance. For example, he correctly assumes that Nazuna, who usually dresses in skimpy outfits, would provoke a more intense reaction out of Kou if she wore an atypically modest outfit that's hard to move around in.

   He can get very excited in certain situations, like when Nazuna asks him for advice about making Kou fall for her, and Hatsuka ends up more fired up about it than Nazuna herself. When she tries to wear an outfit he chooses for her, Hatsuka tells her that she looks so cute that he wants to French-kiss her and that the boy inside him is trembling.[2] When caught off-guard, Hatsuka is unable to keep his cool-headed attitude and loses his composure, like when Kou bluntly tells him that he looks cute.

   However, Hatsuka also has a dark side. He describes himself as less gentle regarding his underlings and can be very authoritative towards them, scolding them for talking without his permission. Furthermore, he treats them like children; he punishes them if they don't follow his orders and says he is gentle to those who obey him. His lavish apartment only has one sofa in the living room, a sofa that is only meant for him or occasional guests to sit on. If the sofa is unavailable, he uses his servants as living furniture. In order to turn Kou into a vampire, Hatsuka planned to brainwash Kou into a state where he couldn't live without him, believing that love is just another form of brainwashing.

She was incredibly jealous of Midori for replacing her as the Number One maid and made it look like someone was taking inappropriate photos of her when she made those photos herself to raise her popularity. Arisa gets so busy making the perfect selfie that she sometimes doesn't notice the sun rising.

   She felt ashamed of that side of hers, but after Midori accepted her for who she was and praised her selfies, she felt much better. Abilities

   Azami (アザミ, Azami?) is an underling of Kiku Hoshimi who spent the next thirty-five years resolving any issues in human society caused by Hoshimi's other underlings. In an attempt to abduct Anko Uguisu, he was beaten by Kou Yamori and Nazuna Nanakusa, eventually choosing to become their ally. Partnered with Susuki, Azami aided Anko in chasing Kiku for the deaths of her parents and Kou in search for Mahiru Seki to reconcile.

   Azami is a tall man with dark blue hair that is short and kept in a bob style. He has teal-colored eyes, which are covered by tiny shades. His left ear features a dangling earring, which is actually a modified container used to carry blood. The lower portion of his face is sometimes covered by a mask, and he usually has a tired expression on his face. His outfit consists of a classic two-piece suit. Each of his fingernails is dyed black. Personality

   At his introduction, Azami was secretive, only spoke sparsely, and didn't hesitate to use brute force against those who opposed him.

   However, despite his first impression, he has a very strong moral compass, valuing human life and having made a vow never to kill humans when he became a vampire. While kidnapping Anko and Akira, he tells them not to struggle for their own good as they might get hurt. When he accidentally drops them after getting attacked, he feels terrible at the thought that two humans are dead because of him, although he shifts the blame on Kou for the incident happening in the first place. When he drops Kou from a building and realizes that Kou wouldn't come back, he frantically comes after him to save him. He also says that he hates how Anko disregards her own life. Azami doesn't drink blood directly from humans since there are already many vampires and adding to that number would cause more problems.

   As a yakuza, Azami has no qualms about extorting people. If they don't have the required money, he forcefully takes blood from them, which he sells to vampires who, similar to him, don't want to consume blood from the source. Despite this, Azami tries to make sure that the humans he gets the blood from don't get hurt. Though, he mentions that he started enjoying his extorsions and has come up with new ways to make them more terrifying.

   His demeanor is usually very calm, and he isn't particularly fazed by what is happening around him, although there are several exceptions. He also sometimes raises his voice when threatening those in debt. Azami tends to be level-headed and analytical.

   In the past, Azami used to be a socially awkward individual who let others walk over him and kept his thoughts and interests to himself, causing Kiku Hoshimi to think he had no interest in girls at first.

   Despite his meek demeanor, Azami had courage in dire situations and gave his life in an attempt to protect Kiku from the incoming bullets of a machine gun. Azami's protective instincts are one of his most defining traits, as he goes out of his way to shield any human from serious harm, be it in his role as the cleaner who makes sure Kiku's typically unhinged underlings don't cause too much damage or as Kou Yamori's ally who ensures the protection of not only Kou but also his friends.

    Kabura Honda (本ホン田ダカブラ, Honda Kabura?) is a friend in Nico Hirata's clique who was originally a regular human patient at a hospital, where she fell in love with Haru Nanakusa. After Haru made Kabura her underling to cure her of her afflictions, she was requested by her to look after Haru's child, Nazuna Nanakusa. Raising Nazuna as her own daughter, she continued to relish her life as a vampire and nurse at the hospital Haru worked at. Following her first encounter with Nazuna's underling candidate, Kou Yamori, Kabura served an important role in uncovering Nazuna's past.

    Kabura is somewhat tall, the second-tallest vampire in Nico Hirata's clique, second only to Nico herself. She has frizzy black hair that reaches her shoulders and black, vacant eyes. Typical for vampires, Kabura is exceptionally attractive.

    Her outfits are defined by a preference for dresses and long skirts. Her main outfit is a black, strapless bodycon dress with a turtleneck, a diaphanous mesh that covers a part of her chest and arms, and shoes with heels. At work, she wears a classic nurse uniform that ends at her upper thighs, with slippers serving as her footwear. When she was still a human, her fashion style was about the same as her current one. However, she only got to wear regular clothes when she was out of the hospital and mostly wore a standard patient gown.

    Kabura gives off a gloomy aura and is scarred on the inside. In her first appearance, she is first shown to have a playful attitude and sense of humor when around her fellow vampires. Like her friends, Kabura loves alcohol, like red wine and beer, and likes talking about romantic topics. She enjoys teasing others and has an infamous reputation for wanting to take people who are already in a relationship, believing that those who claim to be completely loyal to their partners are liars.

    Later, Kabura displays a much more serious side, being blunt, pulling no punches, and having a no-nonsense attitude when it comes to her job; when Kou and Nazuna enter the hospital illegally at night, she first threatens to report them and only allows them to stay if they wear outfits appropriate for the hospital. In spite of that, she can also be surprisingly pleasant. When Kou and Nazuna try to impress her in their investigation and come to the wrong conclusions, Kabura tells them that the lines they tried to pull off sounded good regardless.

    Kabura can also act rather creepy at times, particularly regarding Nazuna and, by extension, Kou. Despite Nazuna being her adopted daughter, Nazuna's resemblance to Kabura's late first love makes Kabura often make questionable remarks and put Nazuna in uncomfortable positions. Once Nazuna isn't available anymore, Kabura switches her focus to Kou whom she asks to sit on her lap. When he does so, she starts sniffing him because he still has Nazuna's scent.

    As a human, Kabura had a much more friendly personality. Due to getting frequently hospitalized, she felt like a burden and avoided calling for help even when her nose bled. She also disliked making promises since she mostly couldn't keep them. Kabura genuinely wanted to experience everything an ordinary girl would experience but couldn't because of her illness. For her, ordinary activities like taking hot baths, drinking alcohol, or sports like snowboarding were impossible since they required too much energy.

    Whenever her friends and family neglected her, she would ignore it, make excuses for them, and bury any negative thoughts. But when she realized that her friends never bothered to understand her and didn't honestly care about her, the resentment Kabura built up until that point erupted; she gave up and tearfully confessed that she hated everything, including her parents and friends. She wanted to have a lover, but she hated men.

    After becoming a vampire, Kabura could live life without worries and felt happy for the first time. She eventually started to enjoy things she previously disliked, like alcohol and spending time with men. Her happiness was cut short when her first love fell in love with someone else, got pregnant and died shortly after giving birth. The effect this had on her can still be seen in the present. She is in a constant state of reminiscing the past and questions her own sanity, urging Kou to not become like her. Still, she isn't worried about the effect this has on her popularity, as even in her current emotional state, there will always be men who are willing to listen to her. Kabura doesn't care about her life much but is determined to honor her promise (watching over Nazuna until she makes her first underling).

    Haru Nanakusa (七ナナ草クサハル, Nanakusa Haru?) was a nurse and a friend of Kiku Hoshimi who investigated for a method to revert back to being human. Haru cared for the recurring patient Kabura Honda, and with her consent, she turned Kabura into her underling. Under the idea that conceiving a child with a human could transform her back into a mortal, Haru gave birth to her identical-looking daughter, Nazuna Nanakusa, before passing away, leaving Nazuna to be taken under Kabura's wing.

    Haru looked identical to her daughter Nazuna. Their only difference was their preferred clothes and hairstyles. Haru had shorter hair which she usually tied to a very short ponytail or wore completely loose and connected to a single braid when it grew longer. She was often seen in a classic nurse outfit and wore clothes like ruffle pants, a white shirt, a bright-colored hoodie, and a Tangzhuang, also known as a Tang suit, outside work

    Personality

    Haru was described as very energetic, intelligent, caring, and affectionate, devoting much of her time to a young Kabura, to whom she provided physical and emotional support. She was also very perceptive as she knew about Kabura had a crush on her before the former even said anything, although she did not reciprocate them and she only saw her as a friend. Haru turned individuals like Kabura and Haruka into vampires to end their suffering or save them from death.

    When upset, Haru was capable of explosive anger. After finding out that Kabura's friends talked about Kabura behind her back, her rage was so intense that she proposed to kill them.

    Like her daughter, she was very fond of alcohol, her thirst not satiated after visiting several pubs in a single night. She also occasionally smoked tobacco.

    Haru was very philosophical, asking Kabura questions that made her question herself and her life. She had many doubts about life and the life of vampires, whose existence was so different from that of any other life form, wondering whether they were truly alive. After meeting with other vampires, she seemed to have changed and wanted to do things typical of humans. Haruka revealed that she even wanted to find a way to become human again, as she felt incredibly bored being immortal. [3][4][5]

    She initially appeared impulsive when telling Kabura that she married a human for fun and didn't expect a pregnancy. That later turned out to be a lie as Haru deliberately sought to fall in love with a human and give birth to turn human again.

    It is indirectly revealed that she didn't suck her husband's blood ever since she met him, indicating her love was genuine, unlike the love of most vampires.

    Haruka Nanakusa (七ナナ草クサハルカ, Nanakusa Haruka?) is a scam artist in Hokkaido and an underling of Haru Nanakusa, whose name he took inspiration from for his alias after Haru's disappearance. Over forty years afterwards, Haruka crossed ways with Kou Yamori and met Haru's identical-looking daughter Nazuna Nanakusa. In spite of their rivalry, Haruka chose to aid Kou in his goals alongside his vampire friends.

    Haruka looks like a high-school boy, wearing a gakuran blazer, a white shirt underneath, and matching pants. His hair is bright-colored, short, and has a spiky profile. He has a mole on the left side of his chin, and his eyes have a ring pattern, like Haru's and Nazuna's, which becomes a spiral pattern in certain situations. Personality

    Haruka is a very lax and casual person. He seems friendly and straightforward when approaching strangers, asking them if they want to take a photo with him.

    Under that exterior lies a cunning manipulator. He first takes photos with tourists and then demands money for it out of nowhere. He is methodical and knows his limits, backing off from scamming Saki when he concludes that there is something unusual about Kou, instead relying on Saki falling for him and coming alone when they meet. He is well aware of the effect he has on girls and uses it to his advantage; this includes several women he is in a relationship with while pretending to be loyal to each one of them, using their money to keep himself afloat.

    He is very gleeful while fighting, shown when he lets out frenzied laughter and continuously taunts Kou as they exchange blows.

    Haruka does seem to care about formality and honor, at least if it's about him or other vampires; He didn't like Kou leaving out the "san" while saying his name, and also became furious when Kou punched him while he was distracted, calling it cheating and yelling that he would kill him. When Haruka initially believed that Kou was a vampire, he was willing to let him and Saki go, apologizing for stealing another vampire's prey.

    Haruka is shown to have a kind side, as he claims never to kill the tourists whose blood he sucks, sending them away after having his fill. While he leeches off many of them, he genuinely likes the people of Hokkaido and wants to have a good relationship with them and wants them to live good lives.

    He wants to date Nazuna Nanakusa solely because she looks like her late mother, with whom Haruka was in love. In exchange for information regarding Kiku, he demands Nazuna go on a date with him. After Nazuna and her allies return from Hokkaido after failing their mission, Haruka utterly fails to read the room and requests that Nazuna keep her promise, which she instantly declines due to being in a bad mood. Despite the rejection, Haruka still attempts to flirt with Nazuna, resulting in him getting punched in the face. Even after that, he announced that he wouldn't give up.

    In his human days, Haruka was suicidal and claimed that he always wanted to die, never once having felt alive. He was happy for a short while, which gave him the courage to end his life. After he got turned into a vampire, he felt less alive than ever before, though he still had occasional happy moments.

    Kei Yamori (夜ヤ守モリケイ, Yamori Kei?) is Kou Yamori's mother. She gave birth and got married at the age of twenty and got a divorce when her husband cheated on her. From that point on, she has been raising Kou as a single mother and works in the night entertainment industry.

    Kei is an attractive woman with a relatively short build. She has long, bright hair that she wears loose. Her eyes with small pupils are identical to those of her son, and she is shown to wear glasses at home occasionally. Her left ear is exposed and features an earring.

    While at work, she wears outfits typical for hostesses, such as a long-sleeved shirt with frills at the hips and a pencil skirt. At home, she wears a long sweatshirt that ends just above her knees. Personality

    In her first appearance, Kei shows a relaxed demeanor.     She wears a dark blue cold-shoulder t-shirt and pajama shorts underneath her outfit.

    When she was 14, her school uniform looked identical to the girls' uniforms in Kou's school. Personality

    Kiyosumi is a dedicated worker who genuinely enjoys her job. What she doesn't enjoy is the presence of her coworkers and boss, both of whom she resents, one reason being their jokes she feels forced to laugh at and because she feels treated like a lesser human being. She resents them so much that she eventually starts to cry at the thought of going back to them,

    Like Kou, she enjoyed the freedom of walking around at night and the night's serenity ever since she was about 14. As an adult, Kiyosumi feels obligated to obey her boss and endure her work environment, despite how it affects her. She starts to envy Kou when he mentions that he wants to become a vampire, feeling a sense of relief when Kou tells her that he will also turn her into one in the future if she can't take it anymore.     Kyouichi was a middle-aged man of average build with short, dark-colored hair and a stubble beard. He wore a pair of round glasses which would later get passed down to his daughter. His outfit consisted of standard office worker attire: Dark-colored pants with a belt, a suit, and a white shirt with a striped necktie. Personality

    Kyouichi typically had a calm demeanor and was a workaholic, working with his laptop even after his shift had ended. He was a loving father and husband but as time went on, he started to neglect his family, frequently fought with his wife, and often didn't come home so he could see his mistress. While denying it at first, he later confessed his affair and showed major remorse for how he treated his family. Nazuna theorized that he only did that after getting dumped by Kiku Hoshimi. However, Kou later confirms that Kyouichi genuinely wanted to start over.

    He wasn't aware that he had become a vampire and hit Kyouko out of reflex because the lighter she put in his hands caused him significant pain. After that, he completely lost touch with reality, believing he was in a dream. Consequently, he had no reason to hold back his vampiric urges, killed his wife by draining her of her blood, and assaulted his daughter, forcing her to kill him in self-defense.

    Lira is a cute and unusually tall girl with a doll-like appearance. She has sparkly light brown hair and big dark eyes that, depending on her mood, are either full of light or lose all of their luster (Yandere eyes). She wears a headdress, dresses with patterns, like checked and flower patterns, and frills, along with baggy sleeves. Fittingly, her shoes and socks are also very old-fashioned and designed with patterns. On Halloween, she wore another cutesy dress with a ribbon at her collar.

    Lira is described as "someone with a fairytale-like aura" whose mind is constantly occupied with love. She is emotionally unstable, switching between moods in the blink of an eye. She is also traumatized by the bullying she received in the past and is very sensitive about people laughing at her. In general, Lira is friendly to others but is also very immature. When she falls in love, Lira becomes unresponsive towards anyone who isn't her current boyfriend, follows her boyfriend whenever she can, talks to him, and showers him with compliments without pause, much to the chagrin of everyone else.

    Lira likes to read, being part of the literature club, though the books she owns at home are picture books. That doesn't mean she does not read regular literature, as she is a big fan of Kyouko Mejiro's diary and is fond of her writing style. She falls in love almost instantly, believing it is the work of destiny, but dumps her boyfriends after two weeks at most, explaining that she quickly loses interest. Lira also becomes very possessive when falling in love and is prone to jealousy, displaying yandere tendencies.

    As described by Lira herself, she is "in love with being in love" and enjoys the feeling of it so much. But when it ends, that feeling disappears and she doesn't know why she even liked her boyfriend in the first place. This prompts her to break up with Kou, wishing to do so before she falls out of love with him.

    Despite that, he is also incredibly polite, treating visitors with high respect, especially if they come with Midori. He is very loyal to Midori and dedicates his life to her. However, he can also prioritize his own needs over hers, being very secretive when it comes to his most cherished possession from his human past, finding it difficult to let go.

    LoveGreen is a hikikomori, meaning he almost always stays in his apartment because he doesn't think he would fit into society.     Nico is a relatively tall lady with a slim figure and red hair, which she partially ties in a bun and sometimes wears loose; both options end up making the left side of her face always covered by hair. Nico has yellow eyes. Her lips are occasionally more apparent than those of most other characters, and her ears feature an earring each.

    Her outfit usually consists of a dark suit with a plain white shirt underneath and matching pants, although she dressed in a simple white top and a tight, short skirt on Halloween. Nico wears high heels and no socks. While she has fangs like any other vampire, her entire mouth is full of sharp teeth when she gets angry and volatile.

    Nico is normally very level-headed and represents her whole clique; She is very invested in topics surrounding romance, fond of alcohol, despises lewd topics, puts a great deal on "dignity", and competes with the other girls (and Hatsuka) in a friendly manner, very prideful of her popularity.

    Although she claims otherwise, Nico has a violent side that's shown when she becomes highly upset and angry. While she doesn't enjoy killing others and wants to avoid it, she is willing to do it if she has a reason to.

    Overall, Nico is a very friendly and supportive person who wants the best for the people around her, actively supporting Kou and Nazuna on their journey, caring a lot about her students like Lira Echigo, and being very forgiving, shown when she harbored no grudge against Anko Uguisu, even though Anko killed and injured other vampires and shot Nico in the head before.

    She revealed that she loves it when her male students fall in love with her. She rejects them when they are young but loves it when they return several years later as "magnificent men".

    Saki has long, straight black hair that's put behind her back on her right half and stays on the front on her left half. She wears her school uniform consisting of a white shirt, grey skirt, a grey top during the latter half of the year, and leggings. Her uniform lacks the typical tie. During the school trip to Hokkaido, she also wears a white jacket with toggles, ample pockets, and a fur hood.

    Saki, like Michiko, is a mean girl. She is very aggressive and mean-spirited, enjoying bullying someone if she doesn't like them but can get along with others. She can also be very insensitive, labeling Anko Uguisu an "old lady" while she can still hear her, leading to her getting scolded by her friends.

    Saki is noticeably impulsive; When Haruka, who appeared sketchy to everyone else, offers to take a photo with them, Saki agrees with little to no hesitation and, upon being invited on a date by Haruka, heavily blushes and later goes to see him alone despite him being a stranger who attempted to scam her. However, it should be noted that she was under the influence of his supernatural vampiric charm. The other girls note that she has a weakness for boys with faces such as Haruka's.

    Seri is an attractive, young-looking girl with blonde hair but a brown root, golden eyes, and pink lips. She dresses in a schoolgirl fashion, wearing a school uniform consisting of a white t-shirt, a sandy brown sweater, a dark blue skirt, black socks, brown loafers, and a pair of loose socks on occasion. Her skirt is shortened, making it unable to cover much. Under her shirt, Seri wears a tiny chain necklace and a purple bra. Seri's left ear has four piercings.

    Seri acts similarly to a typical kogyaru. She is very carefree and loves having fun and flirting, a hobby in which she displays great confidence, shown when she casually reveals her cleavage to Kou when she notices that he is staring at her.

    Seri is a fan of everything trendy, which is why she actively watches TV. She is genuinely surprised when Kou doesn't know the song she picks for karaoke, despite the song being very popular. Consequently, Seri isn't too fond of retro stuff, although she doesn't completely reject it.

    She is incredibly ruthless and threatens to kill someone with little hesitation, even for relatively mild reasons, remarking that humans getting killed by vampires is just the course of nature. For example, when Akihito Akiyama becomes an obsessed stalker of hers, Seri quickly decides to kill him despite their history of mutual friendship. However, it seems that those threats mostly tend to be empty.

    Seri admitted that flirting stopped being fun to her and that people stopped turning her on. The men she chooses as servant candidates eventually all end up becoming irrational, possessive, and attention-seeking, turning them into an annoyance for her and causing Seri to cut contact with them.

    Despite mentioning that vampires can't be friends with humans, Seri turned out to be a hypocrite and wanted to have a platonic friendship with Akihito but had no experience in a normal friendship and still ended up flirting. When Seri tried to end the relationship, she started to cry because she didn't want to let go of the fun she had.

    Susuki (ススキ, Susuki?) is an independent vampire vigilante who has made it her mission to silence anyone who poses a threat to the prosperity of vampires and makes them stand out in society.

    When she attempted to kidnap Anko Uguisu, Susuki got involved in a fight with Kou Yamori and lost despite being far more experienced. She subsequently fell in love with Kou, became friends with Kou's allies, and agreed to assist him in finding his friend, Mahiru Seki, who had gone to Hokkaido with Kiku Hoshimi.

    After returning from Hokkaido, Susuki eventually decided to leave for a visit to Vietnam so she could learn about the lives of the local people and vampires and agreed to take Anko with her after she asked Susuki if she could tag along.

    Susuki is a well-endowed woman with long, reddish hair that she ties in a ponytail or twin tails, with bangs that always cover the upper half of her face, whose right half sports a mole. Susuki has an athletic build and has been shown to be decently muscular in a flashback.

    Her clothes are primarily sports-themed, including tight, black pants with a wide, white stripe on each leg, a sports bra and wristbands (in a flashback), and a pair of sneakers. In contrast to the rest of her clothes, she wears an oversized white sweater. After her fight with Kou, her sweater featured a hole, exposing her cleavage and a part of her back before being replaced by one of Kou's tracksuits and later another model of the same sweater.

    On the night before her departure, Susuki wore an áo dài, a traditional Vietnamese dress.

    Susuki initially appears to be cold, emotionless, and arrogant; after becoming a vampire, she attempted to seek out as much strength as possible, prioritizing becoming stronger over all else. She says that combat among vampires is inherently unfair and is more than willing to fight dirty, displaying a high degree of brutality, such as breaking her opponents' spines and necks. Susuki has no tolerance for anyone who causes vampires to stand out in society, wanting vampires to be able to live out their lives as quietly as possible. She is willing to go to the extent of killing humans and vampires alike to protect the anonymity of vampires, acting personally to curb the situations where vampires may be exposed to the world, becoming confident that she would be able to beat any vampire who did not go through the extent of training she had.

    However, it was later revealed that Susuki has a very meek and frail side, as she cried upon being beaten by Kou. She holds major respect for anyone stronger than her, to the point of obeying and immediately falling in love with Kou after she loses a fight with him, giving him the nickname "Kou-pippi." She values strength above all else but is also loyal and principled, as seen when she said she is willing to put her own life on the line for Akira and her refusing to drink blood directly from humans since there are already too many vampires in her opinion.

    In general, Susuki rarely stays in one place for long and lives a nomadic life, going from place to place. Wherever she goes, Susuki likes to learn about the lives of the locals and takes care of any vampire who causes trouble. Since she doesn't want to drink blood directly from humans, Susuki uses her occupation as a fighter for hire and licks the blood of her opponents that splashes on her face.

    Susuki is also shown to have a knack for cute things, as seen when she uses a soy sauce fish-shaped bottle to contain blood to regenerate faster during her fight against Azami.

    Though she also engages in longer conversations and holds monologues, she often just resorts to blunt and very short sentences or sometimes just one or a few words.

    In school, Zawa has the reputation of a serious and no fun allowed adult, a reputation he rightfully earned as he doesn't tolerate students making jokes and interrupting his class, something that most teachers would overlook.

    Outside of school, Zawa is a heavy alcoholic, drinking even after he has vomited, claiming alcohol to be the only fun he has, and saying that life as an adult is very dull. At night, his attitude is much more lax. He is very perceptive and knows that Kou was forcing himself to be an honor student, saying that he felt relief when Kou quit school and stopped forcing himself. Zawa admits that he hates both students and teachers and hated school since he was a child himself but still works there since he is proud of his job. School trips used to lift his spirit but in recent years, it has become more of a business-like affair for him.

    He is single and has expressed interest in dating Seri Kikiyou after she clarified that she isn't an actual high-school student. Abilities

    Akihito is a tall and thin guy, has a mole under his right eye, black hair, and wears a buttoned white shirt with a blue collar and sleeves, black pants, brown shoes without socks, and glasses of thick framework, giving it a look weak and derisory.

    After becoming a vampire, he wears the same kind of clothes but with darker and cooler colors. His shirt's dark blue, loose, and he started wearing a black jacket. He also has two piercings in his left ear; now looking cool and relaxed. Personality

    The initial personality of Akihito was a kind and attentive person. In moments of clarity, he is shown to be very wise and philosophical in the way he views things in life. When he met Seri Kikiyou, Akihito slowly became more expressive, leading him to fall in love with her.

    But the love for Seri became a creepy obsession because of the recent lack of attention she gave him. After Kou Yamori helped him and Seri understand their feelings for each other, Akihito asked her to turn him into her servant. After becoming a vampire, Akihito's personality mainly remained the same, except he developed an intense thirst for blood, telling Kou that he felt the urge to bite him, especially since Kou already had bite marks on his neck. He also became much more confident and "cool", as described by Mahiru Seki.
