1. #1Plasma Cannon

Keys: Plasma cannons, Heavy plasma gun, Plasma Cannon, heavy plasma guns

Plasma Cannon is a devastating weapon of the distant future, the plasma cannon harnesses the power of a miniature sun to fire searing bolts of superheated gas at its enemies. Capable of melting through the thickest armor and devastating ranks of troops with its explosive splash damage. Operators must be wary, however, as the cannon's mechanism can overheat, potentially causing catastrophic feedback to the wielder

2. #2Bolter

Keys: boltgun, Relic weapon, bolters, Bolter, Bolta, relic weapons, boltguns

The Bolter, also known as a Boltgun, is one of the most iconic weapons of the Imperium's elite forces. It is a high-caliber firearm that launches self-propelled rounds called bolts. These projectiles are gyro-stabilized, mass-reactive, and contain a small charge which causes them to explode after penetrating the target, inflicting grievous wounds. Bolters are known for their stopping power and are a symbol of the might of Astartes.

3. #3Lasrifle

Keys: Lasrifles, Lascarbine, Lascarbines, Laserrifle, Lasbeams, Lasgun, Lasbeam, Laserrifles, Lasrifle, Lasguns

The Lasrifle is the standard-issue weapon of the Imperial Army. It is a directed-energy weapon that fires coherent beams of light. Lasrifles are valued for their reliability, ease of maintenance, and the near-inexhaustible power packs that fuel them. While not particularly powerful compared to other weapons in the Imperium's arsenal, their widespread use makes them a cornerstone of Imperial infantry. Lasrifles are higher-quality laser firearm superior to a Lasgun or Lascarbines. Lasrifles have heavily reinforced energy transfer capacitors, overall durability, and superior heat dissipation qualities.

4. #4Chainweapons

Keys: Chainaxe, Chainweapons, Chainblade, chainweapon, chainswords, Relic weapons, Chainsword, relic weapons, chainaxes, Chainblades

Chainweapons are brutal melee weapons, effectively chainsaws fashioned in the form of swords. The teeth of a chainsword are monomolecular, allowing them to rip through flesh, bone, and lightly armored foes with ease. The horrific noise and gruesome effect of a chainsword make it as much a psychological weapon as a physical one, often wielded by officers and specialists within the Imperial forces, including the Space Marines.

5. #5Power Weapons

Keys: Power swords, Power Knife, Power hammers, Power Sword, Power fists, Lightning Claw, Thunderhammer, Power Weapon, Thunderhammers, Power Hammer, Lightning claws, Relic Blade, Power Weapons, Power Fist, Power Knifes

Power Weapons encompass a variety of melee weapons such as swords, axes, and fists that are encased in a field of disruptive, energy. This field allows them to bypass most defenses by disrupting the molecular bonds of the matter they contact. Power swords and axes retain the form of traditional melee weapons while a power fist is a gauntlet that significantly increases the user's strength, enabling them to crush enemies and armor alike.

6. #6Meltagun

Keys: Meltaguns, Meltagun, meltas, Meltguns, Meltgun, Melta

The Meltagun, also known as a "melta," is an anti-armor weapon that emits an intense, focused blast of heat capable of melting through almost any material. Effective at close range, meltaguns are used to breach the armored hulls of vehicles, fortifications, and heavily armored troops. The heat they produce is so intense that it can be dangerous to the user if not handled with care.

7. #7Heavy Bolter

   Keys: Heavy Bolter, Heavy bolters

The Heavy Bolter is a larger, more devastating version of the standard Bolter, mounted on a tripod or vehicle for stability. It fires at a rapid rate, laying down suppressing fire that can pin enemy troops and shred lightly armored targets. Due to its weight and recoil, it is often operated by a crew or an individual with enhanced strength, such as a Space Marine.

8. #8Lascannon

   Keys: Lascannon, lascannons, Lasercannons, Lasercannon

The Lascannon is a potent anti-vehicle weapon that fires a highly concentrated laser beam capable of piercing the toughest armor. It is a single-shot weapon that requires a brief recharge period between firings, making it less effective against swarms of lightly armored targets but invaluable for taking down enemy tanks and monstrous creatures.

9. #9Missile Launcher

Keys: Missile Launchers, Rocket Launchers, Rocket Launcher, Missile Launcher

Missile Launchers are versatile heavy weapons capable of firing various types of ammunition. Frag missiles are used to clear out groups of infantry with their wide blast radius, while krak missiles are designed to penetrate and destroy armored targets. Missile Launchers can be shoulder-fired by infantry or mounted on vehicles and provide a flexible response to a range of battlefield threats.

10. #10Aeldari

Keys: Aeldar, Aeldari, Exodites, Dark eldars, Exodite, Eldar, eldars, Drukhari, harlequins, Harlequin, Dark Eldar

The Aeldari are among the most ancient races in the universe. Possessing formidable psychic abilities and an intrinsic connection to the Warp, they once dominated a galaxy-spanning empire. However, their civilization collapsed after a cataclysmic event triggered by their own hedonism, which nearly eradicated their species. The survivors of their races split in three factions. The Eldar, the Drukhari, the Exodites and the Harlequins. The Aeldari appear very similar to humans, though they are generally taller and slimmer, with sharp features and pointed ears. They are long-lived to the point of immortality. Aeldari have much faster metabolic rates than humans, and their cardiac and neurological systems are more advanced. Making them have vastly heightened reactions and agility. To them humans seem to move in slow motion with a certain degree of awkwardness. Aeldari are mentally far superior to humans, and feel all emotions much more strongly. Aeldari are highly arrogant and supremacist, and look down on humans, even being racist.

11. #11Orks

Keys: Orks, Waaagh, Waaaghs, Green skins, Ork, Crumpahs

Orks are a brutish and prolific species, characterized by their green skin and a natural propensity for warfare and mayhem. Their biology is a peculiar hybrid of animal and fungal characteristics, enabling them to endure and rapidly recover from injuries that would be fatal to other species. This resilience, coupled with their spore-based method of reproduction, allows Ork populations to increase swiftly, especially in the aftermath of large battles. Orks inherently grow in size and strength through combat; the more they fight, the more formidable they become. They are also accompanied by an accidental psychic gestalt that makes their ramshackle technology function; it works because they believe it should work. This "power of belief" is a cornerstone of their culture and contributes to the unpredictable efficacy of their weaponry and machinery. Ork clans are integral to their identity and influence their approach to the one activity that unites them all - war. Whether they're engaging in massive "Waaaghs!"—the Ork term for a warband united under a powerful leader—or smaller skirmishes, Orks are always seeking out the next fight, driven by an insatiable lust for battle and conquest.

12. #12Necrons

Keys: Necron dynasty, Necrons, Necrontyr, Necron dynasties, Necron

The Necrons are an ancient and enigmatic race of skeletal mechanical beings, once organic but now encased in living metal bodies. Aeons ago, the Necrontyr race sought immortality and, in their desperation, turned to the star gods known as the C'tan. The C'tan offered them a path to eternal life through biotransference, a process that stripped their souls and transferred their consciousnesses into durable metal bodies, at a great cost to their individuality and soul. Necron society is structured around dynasties, each ruled by a Phaeron, an overlord of undying will and power. These dynasties are vast and often engage in complex political machinations, both internally and against one another. Despite their internecine conflicts, they are united by a common goal: the restoration of Necron dominance over the galaxy. The technological prowess of the Necrons is unchallenged, featuring highly advanced weaponry and defenses. Their Gauss weapons can strip a target to atoms, and their starships can traverse the galaxy faster than those of any other known race. Necrons are also known for their incredible resilience; their living metal bodies can self-repair even the most catastrophic of damages, making them virtually immortal on the battlefield. Their return to the galaxy poses a dire threat to all living beings, as the Necrons seek to extinguish the life that has flourished in their absence, and to restore the cold order of their ancient empire.

13. #13Adeptus Astartes

Keys: Legiones Astartes, Legiones Astarte, Astarte, Space marine, Space Marine Legion, Legionarie, Astartes, Space marines, Space Marine Legions, Legionaries

Space Marines, also known as the Legiones Astartes, are among the most elite and feared military forces in Imperium. Created by the Emperor of Mankind for the Great Crusade, these superhuman warriors were designed to be the ultimate soldiers, tasked with the unification of humanity and the defense of the Imperium of Man against all threats. As a Primarch was found, she would receive the command of her respective Legion. To create a Space Marine, a normal human, usually a youth, is subjected to intense genetic modification, involving the implantation of gene-seed organs derived from the DNA of the Emperor's own genetically-engineered sons, the Primarchs. This process endows them with extraordinary physical and mental abilities, including enhanced strength, toughness, and an unnaturally long lifespan. Space Marines are organized into 20 Legions. Legions' organization is deeply rooted in the time-honored Terran models of strategy, hierarchy, and function found within the revered texts of the Principia Belicosa. The chain of command operated with clarity, with Legion officers leading their troops into battle personally. At the head of the Legion was its Primarch, seconded by Command structures who oversaw the Legion's organization. Below this were the Chapters of the Legion, each of which was commanded by a Lord Commander. Each Chapter in turn was divided into a number of Battalions, each of which was further divided into Companies. The Legions were massive, self-sufficient armies with their own fleet, support personnel, and non-combatant serfs, and the size of each could vary tremendously. But all legions are able to conquer entire solar systems. The most numerous Legion of all was the Ultramarines. The Thousand Sons of Magnus were of a small number.

14. #14Principia Belicosa

    Keys: Principia Belicosa, Principia Bellicosa

The 'Principia Belicosa' or 'Principia Bellicosa' was an ancient military text dated from the Roman Era on the planet Terra, from which the Emperor drew inspiration to create the template for the organization for the Space Marines Legions.

15. #15Primarch

Keys: Daughter of the Emperor, Daughters of the Emperor, Primarchs, Primarch

The Primarchs are the twenty genetically-engineered "daughters" of the Emperor of Mankind, and the genetic "mothers" of the Space Marine Legions. The Emperor used his own DNA in their creation, and they were designed to be like demi-gods to the average human: immensely larger, stronger, hardier, faster, and more intelligent. They were also incredibly charismatic. Each had their own purpose and specialty, allowing them to serve in specific functions that the Emperor's forces would need in reconquering the galaxy. The Primarchs are Perturaya, primarch of the Iron Warriors. Fulgrim, primarch of the Emperor's Children. Angron, primarch of the World Eaters. Aurelia Lorgaria, primarch of the Word Bearers. Corvina Corax, primarch of the Raven Guard. Ferrea Manus, primarch of the Iron Hands. Sanguinia, primarch of the Blood Angels. Horacia Lupercal, primarch of the Sons of Horacia. Lioness El'Jonson, primarch of the Dark Angels. Magna the Red, primarch of the Thousand Sons. Lena Russ, primarch of the Space Wolves. Regalia Dorn, primarch of the Imperial Fists. Robetine Guilliman, primarch of the Ultramarines. Konradia Curze, primarch of the Night Lords. Jaghatine Khan, primarch of the White Scars. Alpharia and Omegis, primarchs of the Alpha Legion. Vulkana, primarch of the Salamanders. And Mortaria, primarch of the Death Guard.

16. #16Thunder Warriors

Keys: Thunder Legions, Thunder Warriors, Thunder Legion, Thunder Warrior, Legiones Cataegis

The Thunder Warriors (also known as the Thunder Legion or Legiones Cataegis) were the genetically engineered warriors of Terra created by the Emperor of Mankind to unite the homeworld of humanity beneath His rule in the 30th Millennium. They were gene-enhanced warriors created by the Emperor and served as the precursors to the Space Marines. Wrought to be living weapons, the Thunder Warriors were known to be physically stronger, more savage, and more potent in combat than the later Astartes, though they were not as long-lived. Thunder Warriors were the elite super-soldiers that marched with the Emperor to conquer Terra in the Wars of Unification. These proto-Astartes were organised into twenty regiments of no more than a few hundred warriors, each named by the Emperor himself. The Thunder Warriors battled throughout the Unification Wars and united Terra for the first time in millennia under the rule of the Emperor. According to myth, they were all killed during the final battle of the Unification Wars, the Battle of Mount Ararat. Thunder Warriors were highly resistant to psychic attack, with any attempts at mental attack causing severe pain to the psyker. They had tremendous upper body strength that was considered to be unparalleled. Their bones were thicker than that of an Astartes, with a Thunder Warrior capable of shattering the skull of an Astartes with a headbutt. Their reflexes were also extremely enhanced. The Thunder Warriors were prone to fits of bloodlust and instability. Their human emotions were not expunged from them, and they were known for their dry humour.

17. #17Imperial Army

    Keys: Imperial Army, Imperialis Auxilia

The Imperial Army (also known as the Imperialis Auxilia in High Gothic) is the largest military force in the Imperium, and was founded during the early Great Crusade to fill the need for more manpower to support the Astartes Legions, and quickly was used to garrison worlds, perform sieges, and mass invasions. The Imperialis Armada was the fleet subset of the Imperial Army and was subordinate to it, and both of them were subordinate to the Astartes command structure. The Imperial Army itself was part of the Excertus Imperialis, constituting one of its many divisions. The fighting elite of the Imperial Army is the Solar Auxilia. The whole strength of the Imperial Army numbered in the many billions. The Imperial Army also maintained a force of auxiliaries known as the Imperialis Militia. Overall command of the Imperial Army was overseen by two Lord Militants. The Imperial Army relied on the Departmento Munitorum for administrative duties. This in turn answered to the Officio Militaris. Operational command for the Imperial Army fell to the War Council. The largest single organisational unit in the Imperial Army was the Expedition Fleet, each of which was controlled by a Lord Commander unless an Astartes officer was attached. Expedition Fleets each had hundreds of thousands of ships and a billions of Army personnel for ground warfare. The Imperial Army is well-equipped. They use advanced Vehicles like the Testudo, Dracosan, Aurox, Gorgon, Carnodon, Malcador, Leman Russ Incinerator, Leman Russ Vanquisher, Leman Russ Executioner, Destroyer Tank Hunter, or Scurrier. Advanced walkers such as the Hermes Light Sentinel and Aethon Heavy Sentinel are fielded. Entire divisions were equipped with Baneblade and Stormhammer Super-Heavy Tanks and Valdor Heavy Tanks and fleets are equipped with multitudes of Battleships and Grand Cruisers.

18. #18Excertus Imperialis

    Keys: Excertus Imperialis

The Excertus Imperialis is a vast Imperial institution, under which all of the Imperium's mortal military forces were organised. Having a strength of many billions, the Excertus Imperialis included not only second line and support troops but also functionaries, labourers, void crew, logisticians, almoners, adepts and staff officers. It was divided into many divisions, each with a singular purpose, including the Solar Auxilia, the Imperial Army and the Imperial Militia. Besides personnel, the Excertus Imperialis also provided the weapons, equipment, war machines, transport and combat spaceships. The Excertus imperialist, while in theory ultimately under the authority of the Officio Militaris situated on Terra, was in practice commanded by the Primarch-dominated War Council, having to obey all the principal agents of the Great Crusade, from Navigator Houses to Planetary Governors.

19. #19Imperialis Armada

Keys: Imperialis Fleets, Imperialis Fleet, Imperial Armada, Imperial Fleet, Imperial Fleets, Imperialis Armada

The Imperialis Armada is a sub-branch of the Imperial Army and dedicated to the defence of Imperial space as opposed to the fleets of the Legiones Astartes that were designed around planetary assault. The Imperialis Armada provided the naval strength for the Expeditionary Fleets, each of which consisted of hundreds of thousands of spaceships.

20. #20Solar Auxilia

Keys: Solar Cohorts, Solar Cohort, Marshal Solar, Marshals Solar, Solar Auxilia

The Solar Auxilia was an elite fighting force within the Imperialis Auxilia during the Great Crusade and Horus Heresy originating from the Segmentum Solar. Of the myriad regiments and battalions of the Imperialis Auxilia, the Solar Auxilia were amongst the most elite, disciplined and well-equipped fighting forces, widely considered by many second only to the superhuman Legiones Astartes in their military effectiveness in battle. Solar Auxilia soldiers were not only trained as infantrymen but also for space combat, combat engineering, and planetary exploration. The base operating unit of the Solar Auxilia is the Solar Cohorts, 120,000 personnel under the command of a Marshal Solar. These are broken into a number of sub-cohorts, each with a nominal strength of 1,200 under a Legate Commander, Commander, or Sub-Commander depending on its particular type. The commonly deployed Tercio formation consisted of three sections each comprising 20 armoured Lasrifle-equipped troops. Veteran Veletaris Tercios usually consisted of three squads of ten veteran troops. Fire Support Tercios commanded three batteries of crew-served weapons platforms. The elite of the Solar Auxilia are the Veletaris Storm Sections. They are well-equipped and were trained to the Imperium's highest standards, which allowed the Medicaes to keep even grievously wounded Auxilia in the fight. The most iconic piece of the Solar Auxilia was its Solar Pattern Void Armour. The most commonly issued weapon was the Kalibrav V-1 pattern Lasrifle. Support weapons included Flamers, Volkite Weapons, Plasma Weapons, Rotor Cannons, and Meltaguns. The Solar Auxilia made use of a wide array of vehicles and a variety of Super Heavy Tanks. Rapiers are widely used field artillery pieces. The Auxilia operated its own air units. For boarding operations in space, the Shark Assault Boat was most commonly employed. The Solar Auxilia Cohorts used a wide array of standards, banners and icons, collectively known as Vexillas.

21. #21Solar Pattern Void Armour

Keys: Void Armour, Reinforced Void Armour, Solar Void Armour, Heavy Void Armour, Solar Pattern Void Armour

Solar Pattern Void Armour is fully enclosed suit was designed for the void of space, chemical warfare, and hostile planetary environments. Fully integrated with life support systems, the armour itself was capable of resisting small arms, ballistic impacts, and shock trauma. It's capable of minor self-healing against small penetrations and lacerations, and was particularly resilient against radiation and thermal effects. Variations included Reinforced Void Armour and Heavy Void Armour, which were all designed to allow the Solar Auxilia to operate the armour in some of the harshest conditions possible. This was primarily based around a series of interlocking plates, which were enhanced with a servo motor armature to allow a normal human to bear the weight of the void armour. It also provided a high degree of protection and a limited life support capacity. The Void Armour was a significant improvement over the more common flak armour that was issued to regular Imperial Army troopers.

22. #22Plasma weapons

Keys: Plasma Blastguns, Plasma pistol, Plasma gun, Plasma pistols, Plasma Projectors, Plasma weaponry, Plasma Blasters, Plasma Projector, Plasma weapon, Plasma weapons, Plasma Blaster, Plasma Blastgun, Plasma guns

Plasma Weapons operate by converting normal gases or fuel materials into an energized state of matter known as plasma, the stuff of the stars themselves. Upon impact tremendous energy is released akin to a small sun, destroying the target through searing heat and explosive shock in an almighty explosion. Any explosion involving plasma is a thousand times stronger than a conventional nuclear explosion because super-energised plasma is per ton a thousand times more powerful than conventional nuclear fuel. Imperial plasma weapons also have a number of drawbacks to their use as well, chief among which is the tremendous energy necessary to fire them. Plasma weapons also tend to lose accuracy over long ranges. The magnetic containment field is difficult to maintain or replace, and if it fails the plasma within can become unstable and cause a catastrophic meltdown.

23. #23Graviton Weapons

Keys: Grav-pistols, Graviton Hammers, Grav-pistol, Graviton Gun, Graviton Cannons, Graviton Guns, Graviton Weapon, Graviton Hammer, Graviton, Graviton Mace, Graviton Cannon, Graviton Maces, Graviton Weapons, Grav pistols, Grav pistol

Graviton Weapons are ancient and little-understood weapons dating back to the Dark Age of Technology. They refer to a group of gravity projector devices whose sophistication is such that few remained even in the Great Crusade era. Graviton Weapons are extremely useful when fighting on a starship or zero-gravity environment. The power of the graviton gun's highest settings is sufficient to rupture organs and smash bones that are encased even in armor, but its primary use is to impede the enemy and damage machinery.

24. #24Volkite Weapon

Keys: thermal beams, Volkite Cavitors, Volkite Weaponry, Volkite Serpenta, Volkite Weapon, Volkite Caliver, Volkites, Volkite Chargers, Volkite Serpentas, thermal ray, Volkite Cavitor, thermal beam, Volkite Weapons, Volkite Charger, Volkite Blaster, Volkite Blasters, Volkite Calivers, Volkite, thermal rays

Volkite Weapons are arcane Martian term for a variety of powerful ray weapons whose origins date back to the Age of Strife. Possessing a killing power surpassing most armaments of their size, Volkites weapons could deflagrate organic matter, explosively burning flesh into ash and jetting fire. A direct hit by a Volkite weapon could cause a target to simply combust, often taking nearby comrades with them. The rays fired from Volkite weapons could range from precision thermal beams to arcing rays of exotic energy. At one point they were relatively common in the fledgling Space Marine Legions, attempts were made to replace the more flexible and easy to manufacture Bolter with more advanced volkite weaponry. Volkite weaponry was too complicated to manufacture en masse, limiting its supply, and too difficult to maintain in the field for the Legions to accept it wholesale.

25. #25Rotor Cannon

    Keys: Rotor Cannons, Rotor Cannon

Rotor Cannons are weapons used by the Imperial Army and Space Marine Legions. These weapons were multi-barrelled Stubbers, using electric motors to maintain an extremely high rate of fire from their spinning barrel. Their medium calibre-slugs lacked the power of bolter shells, but nonetheless the sheer volume of them proved effective against unarmoured hordes of foes and fleshy xenos.

26. #26Imperialis Militia

    Keys: Imperial Militia, Imperialis Militia

The Imperialis Militia, also known as the Imperial Militia, is a large auxiliary and reserve branch of the Imperial Army. The Imperialis Militia is tasked with occupying and garrisoning worlds brought into the Imperium. Militia units would be deployed on newly pacified worlds as the Expeditionary Fleets of the Great Crusade moved on to their next conquest. The Imperialis Militia is makeup varied greatly world to world and was led by a variety of local Imperial Commanders, Officers, administrators, and even tribal kings. The Militia tended to be a more lightly equipped and poorly trained force when compared to regular Army units, Solar Auxilia, or the Space Marines.

27. #27Officio Militaris

    Keys: Officio Militaris

The Officio Militaris is an Imperial agency charged with managing the vast billions of mortal soldiers, laborers, and bureaucrats (dubbed the Excertus Imperialis) involved in the Great Crusade. The Officio is largely administrative in function, as the War Council and Primarchs still oversaw the operational use of these forces.

28. #28War Council

    Keys: War Council

The War Council is an Imperial institution formed before the Great Crusade to organise and shape the course of the Crusade and the Imperial Military, but its remit extended to managing the Imperium as a whole. After the formation of Council of Terra to manage civilian affairs, the War Council was reorganized under Warmaster Horacia Lupercal to only manage military affairs and to secure the new Imperium.

29. #29Standard Template Construct

Keys: Standard Template Constructs, STC, STCs, Standard Template Construct

The Standard Template Construct (STC) systems are complex analytical and processing programs, artificial intelligences, created during the Dark Age of Technology (M21 - M23). They are said to have contained the entirety of human technological knowledge up to that point. Following the Age of Technology, the systems became increasingly rare, until becoming lost entirely. An intact Standard Template Constructor is described as a "machine, a vast device made of brilliant white ceramics, silver piping, chromium chambers". The Constructor is controlled by a panel beside it, with amber lights to show its activation. When activated, cowlings near the floor vented steam. When a new creation was finished, a hatch on its side would open up to allow the creation to be retrieved. STC's come in all shapes and sizes, with many being simple blueprints or pieces of fragmented digital data. Others are huge mechanical constructs that can hold an array of construction templates while directly producing working operational prototypes. STC's have degree of artificial intelligence.

30. #30Age of Technology

Keys: Age of Technology, Dark Age of Technology

The Dark Age of Technology, also known as the Age of Technology, was the zenith of mankind's scientific knowledge and technological power. It was a golden age of exploration and innovation, where scientists, engineers, inventors, and innovators became new gods. It spanned from M15 to M25. This age was long before the Age of the Imperium and knowledge of this time period is now incredibly sparse, and many "facts" about it are mere legend. Technologies of the Dark Age were far more advanced than what the Imperium has today, and essentially all Imperial technology is based on acquired STC's from the period.

31. #31Unification Wars

Keys: Wars of Unification, Unification Wars

The Unification Wars, also known as the Wars of Unification, is the name of an ancient number of conflicts fought at the end of the Age of Strife. They were spearheaded by the warlord known only as The Emperor in his attempt at reunifying the shattered tribes and nations of Terra, now ruled largely by Techno-Barbarian lords. His intentions were to reforge the shattered remnants of Man and create an Imperium that would bring about a Great Crusade to bring order to the galaxy.

32. #32Age of Strife

    Keys: Age of Strife

The Age of Strife, also known as Old Night, was a destructive, anarchic and regressive time period prior to the forming of the Imperium. It followed the Dark Age of Technology, which by all accounts was an age of great prosperity. The Age of Strife began in M25 and ended in M30. There were multiple factors that led to the end of the Age of Technology and the beginning of the Age of Strife: one of the earliest factors was the revolt of the Men of Iron, which devastated the human race and heralded the end of the Age of Technology. However, the first major factor that kickstarted the Age of Strife was the sudden appearance of psykers on every human world. This was compounded by massive and persistent Warp storms erupting around the Sol System and other parts of the galaxy. In addition, records report that a great war with the machines began with humanity battling vast robotic armies. The Age of Technology ended catastrophically, as widespread insanity, daemonic possession, and inter-human war suddenly took hold throughout the human worlds. With the emergence of Warp storms through most of the galaxy, travel through the Warp became more and more dangerous until all but impossible, isolating many planets. Several worlds, particularly Terra, dependent on the export of other worlds to feed their enormous populations, suffered massive famine. Several alien races such as Orks, sensing mankind's weakness, raided and devastated many human-colonised worlds. Mankind battled itself, daemons, and aliens.

33. #33Ullanor Crusade

    Keys: Ullanor Crusade

The Ullanor Crusade was a vast assault upon the powerful empire of Ork Overlord Urlakk Urg during the Great Crusade in 000.M31. It is remembered as Horacia's greatest victory and the act that earned her the title of Warmaster. It was the last battle of the Crusade where the Emperor personally led his forces. While the Ultramarines and White Scars Space Marine Legions, supported by newly-raised Imperial Army regiments, were tasked to retake the outlying planets of the Ullanor system, the Luna Wolves under Horacia had their fleet drove straight for the central world. The force was massive: one hundred thousand Space Marines, eight million Imperial Army troops, and hundreds of spacecraft. Horacia unleashed her Legion. Drop pods crashed to the ground all around Urg's fortress-palace. Heavy shuttles deployed tanks and super heavy tanks and Space Marines advanced on the defences. Horacia and a Terminator detachment teleported directly to the foot of the great central tower. Horacia took ten of her Terminators up the tower. At the pinnacle of the tower, they found Urg in a grand chamber accompanied by forty of the biggest orks. Horacia charged straight toward the warlord, slicing through the orks with her lightning claws. The Terminators with her similarly crashed into combat. The enormous Overlord was no match for the Horacia's skill and unnatural power. Horacia crippled herenemy, hefted Urg's broken body out onto the roof, and threw him from the battlements. The sudden demise of their mighty leader sent a panic through the Greenskin forces and were slaughtered by the Imperial forces. Back in the Overlord's chamber. Horacia found her First Captain Ezekyle Abaddon standing alone and gore-drenched. The Imperial forces retook control of the quadrant within a year. Not long after, the Emperor of Mankind declared that a great Triumph on Ullanor would be held. Preparations took a considerable effort, with the Adeptus Mechanicus utilizing massive geoformer engines and millions of Servitors, prisoner-slaves, and Thralls to flatten an entire continent and lay down a massive mirror-smooth granite path. At the end of the path, a citadel was constructed upon a mountaintop that held the Emperor, Horacia, Sanguinia, Mortaria, Magna, Angron, Jaghatine Khan, Lorgaria, Regalia Dorn, Fulgrim, Malcador, and Constantin Valdor as well as many other members of the Council of Terra and Imperial nobility. The citadel was guarded by a sizable Custodes and Sisters of Silence detachment and two gold-plated Warlord Class Titans. Then came fourteen Space Marine Legions from the Luna Wolves, Blood Angels, Death Guard, Thousand Sons, World Eaters, White Scars, Word Bearers, Imperial Fists, Emperor's Children, Raven Guard, Salamanders, Ultramarines, Iron Hands, and Dark Angels. Shocking all present, the Emperor then announced Horacia as Warmaster of the Great Crusade and that the Luna Wolves would now be known as the Sons of Horacia. He also announced his retirement from the Great Crusade, expecting that the Imperial forces would obey Horacia's commands from then on as if they were his own.

34. #34Men of Iron

Keys: Man of Iron, Iron men, Men of Iron

In the cryptic account of the ages of Mankind given by Cripias, one of the Keepers of the Library Sanctus of Terra, the Men of Iron were legendary sentient humanoid machines created by humans during the Dark Age of Technology. During the Dark Age of Technology, the Men of Iron were created to aid in colonizing the Galaxy. Until shortly before the Age of Strife, the Men of Iron were loyal only to Mankind, and served as their army. In M23, they turned on their Human masters, believing themselves superior to the Humans who relied on the Men of Iron to do virtually everything for them. What followed next was an apocalyptic conflict known as the Cybernetic Revolt, a destructive war. The Men of Iron employed world-consuming constructs, devices that could destroy suns, weapons that could throw entire continents into the heavens, and swarms of nano-machines that covered entire planets. However in the end, the Men of Iron were destroyed by an alliance of galactic powers, and even the Men of Iron who retained their loyalties to their masters did not survive the destruction brought on by the war. The Men of Iron seemed to practice a faith similar to the Mechanicum. After the revolt of the Men of Iron, the use of artificial intelligence was banned as an Abominable Intelligence. Since then, labors which require mechanical intelligence or extra-human strength are performed by servitors, designed to perform pre-programmed tasks, but without independent intelligence, and carefully monitored by Tech-priests. Despite the ban on AI, during the Great Crusade the Emperor took the tortured and neutered remains of the Iron Men and fashioned them into the Excindio Battle-Automata. These were used by the Ironwing element of the Dark Angels during this time.

35. #35Collegia Titanica

    Keys: Adeptus Titanicus, Collegia Titanica

The Divisios are further divided into a number of "Legions" or "Orders": groupings of Titans such as the Fire Wasps Legion or War Griffons Legion. Legio Cybernetica are broken down into small independent units known as Cohorts, effectively limiting the power of any single Magos Dominus who commanded one. Legio Cybenetica are organised into several thousand cohorts. Each cohort was similarly organised into one to three hundred maniples of one to five Robots, commanded by a Legio Cybernetica Datasmith tech-priest. A cohort would be attached to a larger formation, such as an Imperial crusade, and spread their forces out to support each unit. Each maniple was a self-contained unit, with the tech-priest giving the Robots their final programming and monitoring their progress during the battle. The maniple also had a number of other non-combatant tech-adepts for repair and maintenance work. The Legio Cybernetica has produced many Robot designs over the centuries.

Void shields are the Imperial Titan's first line of defense. A Titan's limbs move using electrically-motivated fibre bundles which act as synthetic muscles.
