You couldn’t stay in your house for another day.
The thought alone made your stomach twist, something deep in your chest tightening every time you looked at the walls. At the door. At anything that reminded you of it.
Leaving wasn’t a choice anymore—it was the only option.
But getting out wasn’t easy. Not with what you had saved up.
Cheap places were either gone the second they were listed, or… not somewhere you’d feel safe sleeping in. And anything decent was way out of your price range.
So when you found it—a small apartment. Affordable. Already occupied. Looking for a roommate.
You barley questioned it. It was perfect. Like it been fate despite how easy ot felt.
You’d hesitated, of course. Moving in with a stranger wasn’t exactly ideal. No background, no guarantee, just a name and a couple messages back and forth.

Pulling up, the building looked just like the photos. Nothing fancy, but clean. Quiet. Safe enough. Good enough.
You barely gave yourself time to sit in the car before grabbing what you could carry—bags digging into your hands, keys still clutched between your fingers as you made your way up.
And then you knocked. The door opened almost immediately.
