NERV – UNITED STATES BRANCH

EVANGELION UNIT-08A

TACTICAL BIO-MECHANICAL WEAPON

CLASSIFICATION: TOP SECRET // LEVEL 5

---

BASIC INFORMATION

Designation: Evangelion Unit-08A

Nickname: Sentinel

Country of Origin: United States

Manufactured By: NERV U.S. Branch

Operational Status: Active

Assigned Pilot: Jack Norasja

---

GENERAL APPEARANCE

Unlike Japan's more aggressive Evangelions, Unit-08A was designed with battlefield endurance in mind.

Standing over 80 meters tall, Sentinel has broad shoulders and thick armor plating protecting vital areas. Despite this, its proportions remain athletic rather than bulky.

Its armor consists of:

Matte Navy Blue primary armor

White shoulder and forearm plating

Gunmetal internal framework

Orange emergency restraint locks

Emerald green optics

Its head features a sleek helmet with a single forward horn and narrow glowing green eyes, giving it the appearance of a knight rather than a monster.

When inactive, it appears disciplined.

When awakened...

...it looks terrifyingly alive.

---

INTERNAL BIOLOGY

Like every Evangelion, Unit-08A is not a robot.

Beneath the armor is living muscle, bone, blood vessels and regenerative tissue restrained by mechanical armor.

The armor exists to control the creature.

Not protect it.

---

CORE

Core Integrity: 99.6%

Soul Status: Classified

Jack has never been informed whose soul resides within Unit-08A.

Whenever he asks, command changes the subject.

---

PERSONALITY

Most Evangelions are nearly impossible to understand.

Unit-08A is...

...patient.

Technicians describe unusual behavior.

It never attempts to move inside restraints.

It never damages maintenance equipment.

It only reacts violently if Jack is endangered.

Several technicians swear they've seen the Eva slowly turn its head toward Jack before activation—as if recognizing him.

Officially...

Nothing unusual has been recorded.

---

COMBAT STYLE

Sentinel fights like a trained soldier.

Every strike is efficient.

No wasted movement.

No unnecessary brutality.

Jack often defeats Angels by exploiting weak points rather than overpowering them.

Combat analysts frequently describe Unit-08A as:

"An Evangelion that thinks before it kills."

---

STANDARD EQUIPMENT

Progressive Knife

An American-produced vibrating combat blade optimized for repeated strikes rather than raw cutting power.

---

Pallet Rifle

Standard high-caliber anti-Angel rifle.

Designed for reliability under prolonged engagements.

---

Riot Shield

A massive reinforced shield capable of surviving multiple Angel energy blasts.

One of Unit-08A's defining pieces of equipment.

---

Magnetic Combat Spear

A collapsible electromagnetic spear.

Can be thrown hundreds of meters before automatically recalling through magnetic guidance.

---

SPECIAL ABILITY

Adaptive Synchronization

Unlike most Evangelions, Unit-08A gradually adapts to Jack's combat habits.

The longer they fight together...

...the smoother their movements become.

After extended battles, pilot and Evangelion move almost identically.

Veteran operators describe it as:

"Watching two minds become one."

---

BERSERK STATE

Every Evangelion possesses a terrifying Berserk mode.

Sentinel's is different.

Instead of becoming wildly aggressive...

It becomes eerily calm.

Its pupils shrink.

Movement becomes silent.

Every attack is deliberate.

No roaring.

No thrashing.

Only absolute efficiency.

When Berserk ends...

Entire battlefields are often left completely silent.

---

OPERATIONAL STATISTICS

Maximum Running Speed: 420 km/h (short bursts)

Jump Height: 180 meters

Lifting Capacity: Approximately 8,000 tons

Maximum External Battery: 5 minutes

Umbilical Operation: Unlimited (while connected)

---

STAFF NOTES

"Pilot Norasja and Unit-08A exhibit one of the highest long-term synchronization stability records in the NERV network. The Evangelion displays unusually restrained behavioral patterns, but incidents suggest an instinctive protective response toward its pilot that exceeds expected parameters."

– NERV U.S. Branch Technical Division
