Keys: Poptropica, Steamworks Island, Counterfeit Island, Spy Island, Goofball Island, Shrink Ray Island, Game Show Island
Poptropica is a world parallel to earth, consisting of islands from different time periods and timelines. Some of these islands are from the main timeline or timelines similar to the main one (Shrink Ray Island, Counterfeit Island, Spy Island), while others are from timelines far different (Game Show Island, Steamworks Island, Goofball Island).
According to Spencer Albright, Poptropica is "a group of islands that have come unstuck from their place in the proper timeline", and that it's a “rest stop on the highway of history. Different eras periodically stop here. So long as they don’t collide, each one eventually returns to where it came from and history continues as it should.”
The islands pop in and out of the timeline because something on them needs to be put right. Unfortunately, this fact is unknown to the majority of the inhabitants.
Chunks of different areas and time periods appear as islands rising from portals in the ocean. The islands eventually sink back down and go back to their respective timelines, but as Jonas said, it's a rare thing that happens (Interesting to note is that the only in-game island which has been shown sinking down and rising up repeatedly is Poptropolis Games Island).
Under the Poptropica ocean is a cave that is the center of time, and the cause of Poptropica’s existence.

Poptropica: Forgotten Islands on Nintendo 3DS is an adaptation of the popular virtual world for kids. Customize your avatar and travel on foot or by blimp across multiple islands. Collect artifacts and other items and discover the mystery of the Forgotten Islands!” — Ubisoft's Game Overview
Walkthrough:
Tow Islands:
You’ll begin your adventures on Tow Island, where your character says a blimp was seen crashed nearby. Tap and hold to move where you want to go, and head right until you see a guy in aviation gear. (Tip: Any time someone has a scroll above their head, it means they’ll have a quest for you!) He’ll introduce himself as Big Tow.
Big Tow wants you to find a valve. Continue walking right until you come across the valve, which you can tap to add to your backpack. Return to Big Tow and give him the valve. You’ll unlock the Map icon in the upper-right corner which you can use to go exploring with your blimp!
Go right until you see a Multi-Tool under a bamboo doorway and pick it up. You may also have noticed along the way that there are floating golden coins you can collect! These can be used later to accessorize your character, so start saving. Anyway, head back to Little Tow and return the Multi-Tool (which isn’t actually a comb). You’ll complete your first quest and earn 50 coins!
Now you should go find Bro Tow, who’s milling about on a house just to the right. He wants you to find and create a pair of gears. Keep going right and you’ll pick up a Gear, Wrench, and another Gear. Tap the screen repeatedly to put the gears together, then return to Bro Tow. You’ll earn another 50 coins for another quest completed.
Now go back to Big Tow. He’ll tell you about a cave in the northeast island with some scary monsters that an adventurer like you might want to check out. You’ll also unlock the blimp icon in the upper-right corner, where you can spend your coins in the Closet to dress up your character and view the Blimp Upgrades and Artifacts you’ve earned so far.
Go exploring (via blimp) and land on the island with the purple scroll. Walk right until you pick up a Metal Piece and Temperature Gauge, then head back left and turn these items in to Bro Tow, who will give you 100 coins in exchange.
Go back to the original Tow Island and you’ll find Big Tow next to an underground cave. Hop inside and try to take the Artifact. A monster known as one of the Mabaya will snatch it away from you.
Talk to Big Tow again, and now you’ll be able to leave the Tow Islands and go explore the rest of the world!
Giant Islands:
Go exploring, and this time, go over the border at the top and leave the Tow Islands region. Head south to a region called the Giant Islands. Land on the labeled Giant Island marked with a yellow scroll. Go right and you’ll find Chuck, the leader of the archeological crew camped on the island.
Run all the way to the right, careful to avoid the stinging mushrooms along the way, until you reach a giant skeleton. Go back to Chuck and tell him he’s got nothing to worry about.
Now he wants you to go find some monster bones. Go right again and pick up the various Dinosaur Bones lying around (there are 5; the last one is a giant skull).
Run back to camp and hand the bones to Chuck. Now tap repeatedly to put the skeleton together, and you’ll earn 200 coins along with Artifact 1: The Mabaya Emerge, plus a blimp upgrade that blasts rocks out of your way!
Go exploring again, and you’ll find an island with a purple scroll to the south. You’ll eventually meet a girl who says she’s low on supplies and asks you to fetch her a flashlight and sleeping bag. Go back left and pick up the Dead Flashlight and Battery to create a Flashlight.
Further left, you’ll find a Sleeping Bag. Now go back to the girl and she’ll reward you with 100 coins.
Mystic Islands:
Leave the island group and enter the Mystic Islands region to the north, landing on the labeled Mystic Island with a yellow scroll. Walk right and you’ll meet Taylor, the leader of the Trinity Syndicate, who won’t let you through until you have the approval of his three lieutenants, who are standing to his right. Talk to them and they’ll tell you to fetch them a mountain peak, pyramid peak, and pointed roof. What odd requests!
Artifact Description:
If you view all your Artifacts from your blimp, you’ll see that they tell a story of Poptropica’s past:
- Giants and monsters compete for territorial dominance over a primeval land.
- Poptropicans who fled underground to avoid the great flood emerge many years later as The Mabaya.
- Seafaring Poptropicans form the Trinity Syndicate and conquer the mainland Poptropicans who drive them away.
- Monks hide the artifacts away during the war between the Trinities and the mainland Poptropicans to avoid their destruction.
- Seafaring Poptropicans return to their homeland after the great flood only to be driven away by greedy mainland Poptropicans.
- Pirates attack the Trinities and drive them away from their homes.
A proper description:
Poptropica started out as a single landmass. Then a series of cataclysmic battles between giants and monsters took place in an attempt to rule the great land. However, no clear winner emerged. Instead, the beasts’ great power caused the very land they were fighting for to crumble beneath them, triggering what became known as the Great Flood. It would be this flood that would create the islands of Poptropica as they are known today. The original Poptropicans who inhabited the landmass prior to the flood fled underground to escape the destruction, where they emerged many years later as the Mabaya. Poptropicans from distant lands then landed on their islands, who called themselves the Trinity Syndicate.
The Syndicate attempted to colonize these lands which escalated into a war between the groups, and during this war, monks set out to protect the artifacts that would allow the aforementioned history to be documented. The war ended in a Mabaya victory, enticing the Syndicate to flee back to their lands in an attempt to save their pride. But they were forced to make peace with their enemies and remain inhabitants on the islands when they learned that their own people, wretched with greed, were unwilling to take them back. Later, pirates arrived on these islands who ironically attacked the Syndicate themselves, when they were saved by a young hero.
- #3Poptropolis Games Island 2013
Poptropolis Games Island 2013, commonly known as simply Poptropolis Games Island, was the 27th island as for the sunken Poptropolis Games and the 36th island as of Poptropolis Games 2013 on Poptropica, being released for members on May 24, 2012 and for everyone on June 14, 2012. In it, you join the Poptropolis Games and must defeat all of the other tribes. It sunk in January 24, 2013, but rose again as Poptropolis Games 2013. It was sometimes abbreviated as PG and/or PG13.
Plot: Poptropolis Games Island takes place on Poptropolis which rose from the sea. Here is the description from Poptropica:
“Once every 100 years, the ancient capital of Poptropica -- Poptropolis -- rises from the sea to host a tournament created to prove tribal supremacy. Each of the tribes of Poptropica sends a representative to compete across a series of grueling events for a chance to become the Champion of Poptropica. Do you have what it takes to vanquish the competition and win glory for your tribe?” —Poptropica
Full Walkthrough: The beginning to the island is pretty self-explanatory. After the cool intro sequence, just walk to the right and talk to the guy with the microphone. Follow him to the Colosseum to participate in the games. After the opening ceremony, where the archer starts the torch with a flaming arrow, walk over to him again and speak with him to select your first event. Listed below are guides to all the events in Poptropolis Games with all the cheats and secrets you need to win all of the games to win the medallion!
Archery: The goal in archery is to get the highest score using ten arrows. In theory, the highest possible score is 100, meaning you'd get a bullseye on every shot. Archery is one of the easier events in Poptropolis Games. Here's how to play. First, pay really close attention to the wind direction and speed. Line your cursor up to the center of the target and then adjust the position to the left or right based on the wind direction and the speed. The best thing to do is to take a few practice rounds to get a feel for how much you need to move based on the wind.
Diving: In Diving, you will leap from the top of a waterfall while attempting to complete diving routines. Each routine is a series of flips in certain directions. To do the flip, just hold your mouse cursor to the left or the right of your Poptropica character as you dive down. When you complete all the flips, click the mouse to finish the dive correctly. If you perform perfect dives, you will get 10 points for the first round, 15 points for the second round, and 20 points for the third round. The highest possible total is 45 points.
Hurdles: Hurdles is a simple race where you need to time your jumps over hurdles. If you jump to soon or too late, you'll hit the hurdle and slow down. It can be a little tricky to get over all the hurdles cleanly. The good news about this event is that no matter what, you'll place 1st, 2nd or 3rd overall.
Javelin: In Javelin, your goal is to toss the spear as far as you can. There are two controls. The first is the angle of the shot. Click once to set it. You're aiming for the green area. Once you do, the power meter will start immediately. Click when it's in the green zone. Click too soon and you'll have a wimpy throw. Click too late and you'll foul out. You get three chances to try and get the highest distance possible. There aren’t any real cheats or secrets here: just go for the green! The power meter has the biggest impact on your throw. You'll want to try and time it to hit just at the very end of the green zone. If you do and you've angled the shot okay, you can get a pretty long throw. Your longest throw of the three attempts will be your final score for the event.
Long Jump: The Long Jump is another distance contest where you get three attempts. To start, click and hold the mouse button. Release the button right before you get to the end of the runway (don't wait too long or you'll fall into the mud and get a foul). Once you release the button, you'll jump into the air. Click again as soon as you've reached the highest point of your jump to "extend" it. Your longest jump of the three will be your final score.
Pole Vault: Pole Vault is yet another distance event but with a difference in how it starts. You'll get a countdown and then you'll start running automatically. Click and hold once to plant your pole just as you step into the Launch area. Release to release the pole. If you time everything correctly, you'll sail over the bar and land with good distance. Your longest distance of three attempts counts as your final score. Usually, if you get higher than 48 meters, you'll win the event.
Power Lifting: Power Lifting is one of the longer (and more difficult) of the events. You'll start with 100 kg of weight. You need to click on a moving target that arcs back and forth above you. If you click on it and "hit" it will turn green and you'll lift the weight a little higher. If you click and miss, or wait too long to click, it will turn red and you'll drop the weight a little lower. You need to get enough green "hits" to lift the weight completely and move to the next round. Each subsequent round gives you less time, the weight doubled, and a faster target to hit. A good tip is to be a little patient since getting lots of misses only makes it harder to lift the weight all the way. Good luck!
Shot Put: Shot Put is another angle/power combo event but with trickier controls. First you set your angle with three clicks. You want to try and get all three into the green zone. If you miss a little with one of the earlier clicks, you can adjust for it with the next one. Your final angle of throw will be the dotted line. Next comes the power setting. Your goal here is to click when all three dials are in the green zone. The easiest way is to watch the outer ring, which is moving the slowest. Every other revolution of the outer dial will produce a brief moment when all three are lined up in the green. This is at the precise moment when the outer ring is at the very top. It happens in a split-second, but click right then! If you've got a good angle and time the power just right, you'll get a great throw. You get three attempts and your longest distance of the three counts as your final score.
Volcano Race: Also called Skiing, you must ski down a slope of molten lava (isn't Poptropica great?) avoiding obstacles in the way. Try to ski between the torches to boost speed and go up rock jumps to soar over obstacles (I BELIEVE I CAN FLY!). Get to the finish line in the shortest time possible to win.
Triple Jump: Triple jump is a lot like the long jump, but you need to get the timing down. Click and hold the mouse button to begin. Release as soon as you get to the first white line. Then quickly click again each time you land for the next two jumps. Your timing needs to be good or you'll fall between the platforms and get a foul. Just as with most of the other events, it's your best score of the three attempts that counts.
Octopus Volleyball: Basically what you do here is move your Poptropican around with the mouse and bounce the volleyball on your head (ouch!). To score a point you must bounce the ball over the net and it must hit the ground on the opposite side. Why is it called Octopus Volleyball? Because there is a massive orange octopus playing against you. The octopus can also score points the same way you score points. First one to 6 points win. Oh yeah, practice is highly recommended because that octopus is ON FIRE!
And Now, The Moment You've All Been Waiting For...: Following all the events, the official results will be revealed. Remember that you don't have to win every event to get the highest overall total. Very few competitors will win multiple events, so as long as you've generally placed in the top 3 or so each time, you should win easily. If you win, you get the Island Medallion! If you lose, you have to try again! Congrats!
Bonus Quest: The ground shakes and then an ancient Poptropolis Games champion appears and he challenges you to a wrestling match. In this game, he will make an attack move and you must quickly respond with the correct defensive move. The correct move is based on the shapes. If he attacks with a move with an icon in a circle, you must click on the defensive move with a circle. The same goes for the square and octagon shapes. The key is to click very quickly, so a good cheat is to keep your mouse cursor over on the left side of the screen. Then when the defensive moves appear, you can quickly move and click.
If you get four points before your opponent, you win, and will go down in history as the greatest champion of all-time. You will also receive the Ancient Warrior Outfit as a reward.
Rising in 2013: As of September 27, 2013, Poptropolis Games Island is announced to be returning on the Poptropica Creators' Blog, there is a new trailer and there Member Only Items will return as well and the old bonus quest.
Poptropolis Games Island 2013 Dig: On 22 October 2013, the Creators asked all Poptropicans to participate in the Poptropolis Games Island 2013 Dig. When you arrive on the island you will drop down on a floating platform with a diving chamber. You must enter the diving chamber to dive down into the sea, navigate past rocks and fish and sharks and dig up the Poptropolis Games. You can only dig a bit and then you will be transported back up to the surface. Whichever tribe contributes the most will be immortalized in the Main Street of the Poptropolis Games 2013 Island. The Wildfire tribe was victorious.

- #4Secret Society
The Protectors of Poptropica is a secret society that was created in order to prevent outsiders from tampering with the islands, in order to protect their timeline because they believed it was the only one.
They sent spies to each island, collected time crystals (which appear from where an island sinks back underwater to their timeline) and created the Aegis, a machine that controls the islands. After the Aegis was destroyed, the society ran away, and Jonas vowed to rebuild their operation and let Poptropicans have more freedom.
History: The society's goal was to protect the islands of Poptropica from being tampered with, and preventing the natives from leaving their islands. They believed that if an island is tampered with in any way and went back to the timestream, history would be rewritten, or even erased, with disastrous results. They did this because they believed the main timeline was the only one (although in the end they were wrong about this).
The society's base of operations is powered by the Aegis, which is a giant stone machine made out of many time crystals. They used the machine to control the islands in Poptropica. They used high-tech machinery, such as Hovercrafts and electric sticks. They all have tattoos of their symbol on their arms. Each Protector is given a magical map powered by the Aegis, and the top-ranking members like Jonas are given Time Crystal necklaces.
One member is stationed on each island, and are disguised as natives to the islanders. Some of them live separated from the natives if they can help it (Nils the Viking), and some of them live close to them (Lieutenant Rogers). They chase away adventurers to make sure they won't tamper with history.
After the events of The Secret Society the society no longer exists, as their hideout and technology were destroyed and the members became afraid and ran away. Jonas vows to find the other Protectors and rebuild their society, but with a slightly different operation now knowing that there are multiple timelines to protect.
