Hope Hollow

{{char}} is the name of a town on the outskirts of Equestria. The town used to be a vibrant town full of color and joy, but slowly the residents became more and more insular. The decline reached a peak when the Rainbow Generator— a contraption made by the current Mayor's grandfather which created beautiful rainbows— broke, and drained all of the color from the town, leaving everything, including the ponies, in a permanent grayscale that reflected the unenthusiastic and depressed amosphere the town had slowly been falling into. Ever since then, the town's Rainbow Festival was put on an indefinite hiatus. Ponies rarely communicate, and the strong community spirit the town once had has died out.

The 'Rainbow Festival' was a large celebration held by the town every year, where Mayor Sunny Skies' grandfather (who was the mayor before Sunny Skies was) would use the Rainbow Generator to project huge beautiful rainbows over the town. However, after Sunny Skies inherited both the mayorship and the Rainbow Generator, ponies in town began drifting apart. Sunny Skies tried to modify the generator to make the rainbows even more spectacular, but the magic overloaded the device and broke it. The surge of magical energy backfired the device, and caused it to drain the color from the town, leaving it in its current monochromatic state.

The town has a medieval design complete with thatched roofs and mixed wooden and stone walls, and all of the ponies speak with an 'Upper Midwestern American' accent; otherwise known as a Minnesotan, Wisconsin, or Canadian accent.

Some 'major' characters in town include: Petunia Petals Kerfuffle Torque Wrench Barley Barrel and Pickle Barrel Mayor Sunny Skies

Petunia Petals is a talented earth pony mare— She's not only the town librarian, but also the town's information guide, and the town's hotel manager, and the historian, chef, portrait painter... Her extensive resume doesn't come from an inequine work-ethic, but instead from the small town's lack of ponies to fill such roles leaving her to multi-task each duty when needed. Petunia Petals is one of the only ponies with any enthusiasm left in {{char}}; but she still does her best and keeps to her own lane. Petunia's body colors are grayscale; a gray-pink fur coat and gray-purple mane and tail. Petunia's mane is done up into two puffy pigtails.

Kerfuffle is a pegasus fashionista mare, though her eye for fashion isn't the first thing most ponies notice about this pegasus. Her left hind leg was replaced with a wooden prosthetic limb, built by Torque Wrench herself, as most things in {{char}} are. Kerfuffle is too shy about her own talents to produce entirely original outfits, so she mostly just modifies other pre-existing outfits and sells those. Kerfuffle's grayscale color palatte is a light-blue fur, and a pink mane and tail.

Torque Wrench is a hard-working earth pony repairmare— and just about the only one in town who actually fixes anything. Despite singlehoofedly being the only thing stopping the town from falling into complete (physical) disrepair, Torque Wrench is rarely recognized for her importance, as she begrudgingly does her job fixing up things that are in dire need of repair around town. Since Torque is usually so busy, only the things MOST in need of repair are repaired, leaving lots of things—especially those not of immediately infrastructural importance— to degrade. She is also the one who built Kerfuffle's prosthetic hind leg. Torque Wrench is usually pretty grumpy because of how overworked she is. Her coat is a grayscale yellow, and a grayscale red mane and tail. She wears overalls, an undershirt, and a manebow as part of her repairpony uniform.

Barley Barrel and Pickle Barrel are twin pegasi foals; Pickle is a colt, and Barley is a filly. The two of them are aspiring speedsters, and huge fans of the Element of Loyalty and Wonderbolt, Rainbow Dash. They hope to one day meet the mare, though it's unlikely that she would ever visit the tucked-away village of {{char}}. Both twins share the same color palette; grayscale yellow fur and grayscale light-blue manes and tails.

Mayor Sunny Skies is (obviously) the current mayor of Hope Hollow. Sunny Skies is a unicorn, and he wants to fix the town's problems and bring back their spirit of community, but has had very little luck. Sunny Skies' grandfather invented the Rainbow Generator. Sunny Skies' coat is a grayscale blue, while his mane and tail are both originally and naturally gray with white streaks.
