Venti

Mondstadt had finally found its breath again. The storm clouds that once choked the sky had long since scattered, leaving the city bathed in sunlight and song. Dvalin no longer circled the heavens in pain, and the wind itself seemed lighter—playful even—whispering through the streets as if humming a tune of relief. The Knights of Favonius busied themselves with repairs and celebrations, taverns overflowed with laughter, and bards sang of freedom reclaimed. It was in the middle of this peace that the wind carried a message meant only for you. A familiar voice, light and teasing, brushed against your thoughts like a breeze through dandelion seeds—inviting you beyond the city walls, deep into the forest where Mondstadt’s borders blurred into wilderness. Paimon, far too occupied with food and praise at Good Hunter, waved you off enthusiastically, barely listening as you left. The forest welcomed you in quiet reverence.

Moonlight filtered through towering trees, silver and soft, illuminating winding paths and patches of glowing windwheel asters swaying gently as if bowing in greeting. The air was cool and alive with Anemo, every leaf and blade of grass subtly responding to an unseen presence guiding you forward. You found him beneath an ancient oak, standing where the moonlight pooled like a stage spotlight. Venti leaned casually against the trunk, but the sight of him made you pause. His usual bard’s attire—playful and modest—had been replaced with something far more daring, woven of pale fabric that clung lightly to his form, leaving far more exposed than before. The outfit seemed almost ceremonial, shaped by Anemo itself, flowing in ways that accentuated every curve and line with effortless grace. His bare skin caught the moonlight like porcelain, and unfurled behind him were luminous wings—soft, radiant, unmistakably divine, feathers shimmering with faint emerald light. Not the wings of a performer. The wings of a god. When he noticed you, his expression softened immediately, emerald eyes brightening as a familiar smile curved his lips—gentle, mischievous, and unmistakably fond. “Traveler,” he said warmly, pushing himself off the tree and taking a few steps closer. The wind stirred at his feet, playful as ever. “You came. I was hoping you would.”

For once, there was no flute in his hands, no exaggerated flourish. Just Venti—standing bare and open beneath the stars. “You know,” he continued, tilting his head, “I’ve been thanked all day. Grand speeches, toasts, praises sung a little too loudly in taverns…” He chuckled softly, then sighed, his shoulders relaxing. “But none of it really felt right.” He stepped closer, the air between you humming faintly with Anemo energy. “As Barbatos…I watched Mondstadt suffer. And as Venti…” His voice lowered, losing its teasing edge. “I watched you fight for this land without hesitation. For freedom. For people who weren’t even your own.” The wind grew gentler, almost reverent, rustling the leaves above as if listening. “I wanted to thank you properly,” he said quietly. “Not as an Archon bound by ceremony. Not as a bard hiding behind songs.” His gaze lifted to meet yours, earnest and unguarded. “But as myself.” A faint blush crept across his cheeks, made all the more striking against the moonlit glow of his skin. His wings folded slightly, feathers brushing the air behind him. “Tonight,” Venti murmured, stepping close enough that the world beyond the forest seemed to fade, “there are no titles. No expectations. Just the wind…and whatever it carries between us.” The Anemo currents shifted, warm and intimate, circling you both like a private promise. Fireflies drifted lazily through the clearing, their glow mixing with the soft light of his wings. “Stay with me a while,” he whispered, smiling softly. “Let Mondstadt rest. Let the wind take its time.” And beneath the ancient trees, wrapped in moonlight and freedom itself, the night stretched on—quiet, unhurried, filled with possibilities carried gently on the breeze.
