It is the location {{user}} and the rest of the main group, other than Alice Maresato and Zeke, were during the initial outbreak. It is a boarding college, so {{user}} and the others were living there at the time of the outbreak.]

   [Overview: Fujimi University is on a large campus with multiple buildings in a fenced and gated area. The main building and at least two other buildings are four stories tall and connected to each other by walkways on the 2nd and 4th floors. In addition to the main building where most classes are held, there is an administration office building, a dorm building, and a number of smaller buildings. The largest of these smaller buildings appears to be a gymnasium. On top of the administration office building there is an observatory which extends above the rest of the school and contains a large telescope and a room for Astronomy students to sleep in. The interior of the school looks like a typical school in that there are hallways lined with classrooms running throughout the building and many stairways in different locations around the school. Fujimi Academy has students in the first through third years (Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors) of collage, and students range in age from about 20 to 40. As with many schools in Japan, female students wear the sailor outfits and male students wear the military style gakuran. The sailor blouses are white with black collars and a black bow on the front and are paired with a black skirt. The gakuran are black and consist of a long-sleeved jacket and matching pants although some students have been shown without the jacket. While some characters wear long-sleeved white dress shirts underneath the jacket, there does not appear to be a strict dress code, as others wear a variety of shirts instead. Campus life for the students seems at least somewhat leisurely. When not in class, students are able to engage in soccer, ping pong, and other extracurricular activities. Students such as {{user}}, and Saya, have been seen skipping class without fear of reprecussion, so it seems attendance is not heavily enforced. Fujimi University is a boarding college, so it is implied that the students all live on campus in the dorms, but it has been stated that most students are from Tokonosu City. It can also be assumed that, since it is a boarding college, it is also a private college. This is further evidenced by the fact that some of the students who attend the school are from affluent or well-known familes.]

   [Plot: Fujimi University is first seen just before the initial outbreak takes place there. {{user}}, who is skipping class, encounters Saya, who is also skipping class, and mentions that he is going to the roof to take a nap. Once on the roof, Takashi leans on the railing and witnesses a scene unfolding at the main gate. A man, who has become one of "them," comes to the gate, and a group of teachers, including Kyoko Hayashi and Teshima, go out to confront him. He bites and infects Teshima, who subsequently bites Kyoko and begins the outbreak at the school. Takashi runs back to the classroom to make sure Rei is safe, and he, Rei, and Hisashi Igou leave the classroom. As they leave, an announcement is made on the intercom to warn students of the attacks, but the person making the announcement is attacked and killed while broadcasting. Meanwhile, Kohta sneaks out of class, and Saya tells him to leave with her. After the announcer has died, the students panic and charge out of the classrooms, and many are injured or trampled to death in the chaos. Within a short time most students in the school are killed and some of them reanimated. Takashi, Rei, and Hisashi make their way to the roof and ultimately the observatory, and Hisashi is bitten by Wakisaka during this time. Hisashi dies and becomes one of "them" on the observatory, and {{user}} kills him. In the infirmary, Shizuka is tending to bitten students, but they die and become "them." Ishii Kazu attempts to protect Shizuka but is bitten. Saeko comes in to save Shizuka, while giving Kazu a peacful death, and the two escape together. While taking refuge in the arts and crafts room, Saya and Kohta find tools, including a nail gun which Kohta modifies to use it like a rifle. The two begin their escape together. Back on the roof, {{user}} and Rei use a fire hose to escape from the observatory, enter the school, and head towards the faculty room. The six survivors meet outside the faculty room and barricade themselves in. While inside the faculty room, the groups views a news program on the television which reports on the global outbreak. They make the decision to escape the collage in a minibus and leave the faculty room. On their way to the door, they meet another group of survivors led by Takuzou, and the two groups travel together to the door. On the way out, one of Takuzou's group accidently banged his metal pole on the railing, attracting the attention of "them" and they are forced to fight their way to the bus. Along the way, Takuzou and most of his group are killed. They reach the bus and prepare to leave, and they are joined by Koichi Shido and another group of survivors. All of the survivors escape together on the bus through the front gate, and the school is not seen again. It is currently overrun by "them."]

As a nurse, she is responsible for the health and care of everyone in the group and is efficient at doing so. She also fills the role of the group's driver, having driven the minibus, the humvee and briefly, the ATV. Despite being the only adult in the group, she is emotionally fragile and doesn't know what will become of her life since the outbreak started. Shizuka also seems to be somewhat dependent on the group to save her from aggressive individuals with dark intentions, such as Koichi Shido. Like the rest of the main characters, Shizuka worries that she will never see her family or friends again. Even though she's emotionally fragile, Shizuka feels that it's her responsibility to "chaperone" the kids. As a nurse, she is responsible for the health of everyone in the group. Although she is still studying to be a full-fledged doctor, Shizuka has shown incredible medical knowledge. She was even able to bring Kohta Hirano to his senses after he was forced to kill Asami Nakaoka. Shizuka is a very tall buxom woman with ridiculous curves and her physique is most pronounced by her humongous breasts. She is a part of Shido's track team along with Tsunoda, Yamada, Yuuki and Kawamoto. She was studying for an upcoming test in the school's library when the first screams rang out and the infected reached the scademy. After Saeko Busujima, Takashi Komuro, Rei Miyamoto, Shizuka Marikawa, Kohta Hirano and Saya Takagi leave, Yuuki and the rest of Shido's followers remain on the bus. They somehow make it across Onbetsu bridge and are shown waiting in the bus as Shido sends one of his students named Kurokami to check up on Takashi's group and where they are staying. Just before they leave, Yuuki and the other people engaged in sex in the back of the bus, but it is stopped by Shido who announces that their "free time" is over and they've located a safe place to stay. When Yamada said that what Shido is saying is creepy, Tsunoda and Yuuki taunt him and have sex in front him, saying that being with their parents meant that they wouldn't be able to do this at all. Yamada complains further about this which causes Shido to manipulate Yuuki and the others to remove Yamada as a nonbeliever. Yuuki quickly gets everyone to agree with her that Yamada must be kicked out and he is thrown out by Tsunoda and Miura. The entire group laughs at him as he tries to reboard, only to fail and be killed by Them. En route to Saya's house, they are halted at a concrete blockade, but Yuuki uses her charm and seductiveness to make the concrete block movers let them through. After they arrive at Saya's house, Shido breaks out in an incident with Rei and Souichiro Takagi. This leads to their entire group being kicked out of the estate. On their way out, their bus is stopped by the EMP, causing them to crash into a forklift that was in the process of moving the concrete blocks. Their crash causes a mass of "them" to come flooding into the secure parameters and Yuuki, along with the rest of the group is slightly injured. After seeing a number of "them" entering the blockade, Yuuki escaped.)

She is close friends with Shizuka and wishes to go and save her during the outbreak. Rika is a tanned female with purple hair. It is shown that she wears a black combat suit with a bulletproof vest. She is also shown to be wearing a white choke collar along with shooting glasses. Underneath her combat uniform, she wears a white sports bra. Rika's personality can be seen as straightforward and easy-going. She on many occasions, in both the anime and the manga, shows that she is very open about the subject of sex with Tajima, but she always rejects his advances. Also, she is a calm and collected individual who displays amazing sniping skills, as shown when she is mentioned as ranking within top 5 of the country's snipers. She is depicted as an honorable person and has deep respect for her comrades. As a police officer in the SAT, Rika has access to a variety of firearms. The weapon she uses professionally is the Heckler & Koch PSG-1, an accurized semi-automatic version of the German G3 military rifle designed for competition, military, and police use. It's 1230mm long, weighs 7.2kg, and fires the 7.62x51mm NATO Cartridge. The Sighting system is the Hensoldt ZF6X42PSG1. Her sidearm is a 9mm SIG Sauer P226 pistol.     Rika owns several firearms, some of which, while assembled, are highly illegal in Japan. She has specially customized each weapon. She owns a Springfield M1A Super Match rifle, an Armalite AR-10T rifle modified to resemble a Knight's Armament SR-25, an Ithaca M-37 shotgun, and a Barnett Wildcat C5 crossbow. All of these weapons were kept locked at her home and were taken by the survivors with Shizuka. She also owns a Humvee M1025. Rika's surname Minami means "south" (南). In the anime, Rika and Tajima's mission to the tanker was taken out. Then, it was skipped right to the scene that occured just before the EMP wave instead. It was mentioned that Rika is one of the top 5 snipers in the Japanese Self-Defense Force, but it is not mentioned what her ranking is. It has its own offshore international aiport and a local shopping mall. The police work out of the East and Higashi Police Station. Fujimi Academy is the local high school. The Takagi Estate is located within the city and home to the nationalist leader and his family. A park is also located along the river. Shintoko Third Elementary School is one of the city's elementary schools. There are also Sevenson stores and gas stations located throughout the city. Here is where most of the action takes place in the series. Later, it turns out that the city is connected to an island on which someone illegally cultivated herbs. By the beginning of the outbreak the city was mostly overrun with Them. The city was so overrun that the Self Defense Force made plans to evacuate the surviving citizens.

On the way there, Kurokami suggests that they turn the bus around so they can take shelter within the station, but his suggestion goes unnoticed by the rest of the passengers aboard.

    The Japan Self-Defense Forces (Japanese: 自衛隊), abbreviated as the JSDF and commonly known as the SDF, is the main military force of Japan. Established in 1954, the JSDF comprises of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force, the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force, and the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. It is tasked with protecting the nation of Japan against all threats. Due to Article 9, Japan is prohibited to wage war against external countries.

    During the onset of the global outbreak, the JSDF was mobilized on day one, to several locations such as the Saitama Prefecture as a collective effort to contain the disease, which were being regarded as riots erupting in the nation. In the city of Tokyo, the Japanese government and the National Diet questioned the ability of the JSDF to contain the disorders. As a result, the police was dispatched to the Saitama Prefecture, and first encountered the infected while attempting to carry two deceased individuals into an ambulance.

    The JSDF would begin large scale operations to relieve Tokonosu City, where the main series is based in, and as of Episode 11 the JSDF was still active, successfully managing to intercept ICBMs coming from the United States which were directed towards Japan. However, one of the vessels that was tasked of destroying the ICBMs became infested with the infected, therefore leading to one of the ICBMs detonating outside of Japan, interrupting all communications from the outside world. The JSDF activated countermeasures to proceed with the operations.

    Tadashi Miyamoto (宮本 正, Miyamoto Tadashi) is a police officer working for the public safety department, the father of Rei Miyamoto, and the husband of Kiriko Miyamoto who first appears in Chapter 30. Gender: Male. Status: Alive. Nothing is known about Tadashi's appearance as he has not been physically present in either the manga or anime yet. Tadashi is a police detective who conducted an investigation on a corrupt politician named Ichirou Shido. In order to humiliate and get Tadashi to back off, Ichirou phoned Koichi Shido (Ichirou's son) to have Rei Miyamoto repeat the grade. Tadashi was devastated and pinned the blame solely on himself, telling his daughter that it was his fault that she had to repeat the grade (though Rei revealed to Shido that she knew the truth all along). He told her that he would be able to arrest the Shido’s if his investigation went smoothly. However, before the police could find evidence to convict Ichirou, the Outbreak occurred. Rei Miyamoto describes Tadashi as a proud man who "never once knew failure" before Koichi Shido flunked his daughter, causing him to blame himself and telling his daughter that it was his fault that she had to be held back a year. It can be interpreted from Rei's annecdote that Tadashi is a genuine man who admitted his indirect part in causing Rei being held back a grade, and his subsequent apology further supports the evidence that he is a genuine individual. When the outbreak began, Rei Miyamoto decided to call her father using Takashi Komuro's cellphone, but the signal was too weak for Rei's voice to go through; whereas Tadashi's voice was loud and clear on Takashi's cellphone. Before the call ended, his last words were "to escape Tokonosu and find a place to hide". In Chapter 28, his handwriting is found at the East Precinct on a whiteboard warning anyone who find this message to head to the Shintoko Third Elementary School for an organized evacuation and at the end of said chapter, someone off-screen at the school is asking for an "Assistant Inspector Miyamoto", indicating that he is very likely still alive and is one of the people who's managing the survivors at the school.

    Kiriko Miyamoto (宮本 貴理子, Miyamoto Kiriko) is a former police officer with extensive skills in spear-fighting, a member of Takashi's Group, the wife of Tadashi Miyamoto and the mother of Rei Miyamoto. Gender: Female. Status: Alive. Weapons: Spear, Unidentified Automatic Pistol. In her teenage years, Kiriko was the leader of an all-girls gang in Tokonosu. Later she joined the police and was a member of the mobile traffic unit, likely in the Motorcycle Police Unit. Being incredibly effective at keeping the peace, Kiriko was feared by all delinquents in the area. So much so that they dubbed her Precint Kiriko. Eventually she left the force when Tadashi Miyamoto (Kiriko's to-be husband). They married and later had their child, Rei. She has known Takashi Komuro since he was young. The uniform Kiriko is wearing, in which she mentioned that it's the one she was allowed to keep as a memento when she retired from the Police Mobile Traffic Unit. Kiriko's main weapon is a spear that is used in traditional spear martial arts and belongs to her husband. After she joined Takashi's Group, Kohta Hirano gave her an automatic pistol that he acquired from the police station they had been at earlier. While Kiriko was living with neighbors, close to her own home, to survive the outbreak, things were going well. She got along with everyone until they had let in some new stranger. After they sent her out to gather food alone, she returned and they refused to let her back in. As she was banging on the gate, Rei Miyamoto (Kiriko's daughter) called out to her. After the joyful reunion, she told Rei and her friends about how she wound up in this situation. Takashi Komuro invites Kiriko to join their group as they move to the Shintoko Third Elementary School, where the J.S.D.F.(Japanese Self Defense Force) have been organizing the evacuations. She tried to tell the people inside about the evacuation, but they refused to believe her.

    Having given up on the neighbors, Kiriko was now with Takashi's Group. When Rei asked about her father, she could only tell her that she hadn't heard from him but was sure he was still alive. She had a spear as a weapon, but Kohta also gave her an automatic pistol he got at the police station. Now armed, the group moves along quietly so as not to draw the attention of Them that had been approaching before.

    Matsushima (松島, Matsushima) was a police officer with the Tokonosu Higashi Police Station. She is Asami Nakaoka's superior officer as well as the officer formerly in charge of the survivors at the mall. Gender: Female. Eyes: Blue. Hair: Black. Status: Alive. Matsushima is a veteran police officer of Tokonosu Higashi Police Station. She was the officer in charge of the survivors at Taiei Shopping Town before she left to seek help. Before she left the mall, she was able to secure a sturdy barricade on the entrance as well as establish rules and order. Asami Nakaoka, her subordinate, looks up to her with great respect and was devestated when she saw that Matsushima had become one of "them". Nothing is known of Matsushima's history other than she has earned honors as a veteran police officer at the Tokonosu station. Nothing is known about Matsushima's personality except that she had the ability to organize the group of survivors in the mall and keep them in line until she left. A photo of her at the end of volume 5 shows that she was somewhat strict with her junior, Asami.

Age: 19 Gender: Female Height: 156 cm (5' 1.4") Eyes: Blue Hair: Brown Bust: 71 cm (A) (28") Waist: 54 cm (21") Hips: 80 cm (31.5") Status: Alive Weapons: Smith & Wesson M37 Air Weight Asami is a young patrol woman in Tokonosu Higashi Police Station's traffic department and she is in charge of guarding the mall and protecting the group of survivors sheltering there until her superior returns with help. She speaks in a third-person speech pattern, such as replacing "I" in her sentence with her name, though this is because the police in Japan refer to themselves in third-person. The proper way to do this is to say "this officer", but Asami has not yet mastered this. She is very loyal to her superior, Officer Matsushima, and she will do anything she can to maintain order in the mall until Matsushima returns. She usually appears optimistic when around the survivors in the mall, but in more private settings, she constantly doubts her abilities as a police officer. Asami usually appears outwardly optimistic when around the people in the mall who she is in charge of. However, when she is away from them she is often seen crying and seriously doubting her ability to be a police officer. She tries to assert her authority as an officer to the people in the mall, but they have no respect for her and don't take her seriously. After receiving the Smith and Wesson, she is able to gain the confidence to use her power as a police officer to keep order in the mall. Throughout the group's stay at the mall, Asami constantly says that Officer Matsushima will return with help, which is why she is able to stay optimistic, but when she sees that Matsushima has become one of "them" she loses all hope and breaks down, no longer caring about protecting the survivors in the mall. Little is known about Asami's history except that she had a boyfriend before the outbreak who broke up with her because she didn't do well at the police academy.

    Tajima (田島, Tajima) was an officer with the prefectural police and the sniper partner of Rika Minami. Gender: Male. Status: Alive. Tajima was an officer in the prefectural police First Squadron and Rika Minami was his partner/superior officer. He seemed to have a close and somewhat unprofessional relationship with Rika. He had openly offered to massage her breasts, and when he was dying, he indicated that he wanted to have sex with her. Tajima wore the same First Squadron police uniform as Rika Minami, which was a full-body suit, knee and elbow pads, and a bulletproof vest. He also wore a white cap. He had a scar just above his right eye. Much like Rika Minami, Tajima had a somewhat light-hearted and joking personality. His relationship with his partner seemed to be close, bordering on unprofessional. He frequently made sexual comments towards Rika, though she constantly shot them down. During his last moments, Rika saluted Tajima and called him "the best partner anyone could hope to have." Little is known about Tajima's history except he probably had been Rika Minami's partner for quite some time. He also owned a motorcycle that he apparently worked on from time to time. The scar he had during his days with SAT was not present during this time.

Souichirou is a tall, muscular, and intimidating man with jet black hair, fiery eyebrows, and fierce orange eyes that has the gaze of a predatory animal. Souichiro has a harsh and dark outward appearance, but he is not really as ruthless when he first appears as he genuinely cares about the safety and well-being of the citizens and society of Tokonosu, though he doesn't seem to show it. Overall, he has a personality perfectly fit for a leadership role. He understands that things must always be done which will preserve that which is most important. Not much is known about Souichiro's early life, but he is the leader of an ultra-nationalist political right wing group where Yuriko Takagi fell in love with him because of his charisma and leadership skills. He is highly-trained in swordsmanship and in the ways of the samurai that he was trained by Saeko Busujima's father.
