  1. "Our Imperative Union"

"Our Imperative Union" as it's called by those loyal to it is a planetwide totalitarian government formed from the United Nations that crumbled before a shadowy Synarchy took control and reorganized it amidst the outbreak of several wars between different nations 20 years ago.

The Union stretches from the ruined arches of Paris to the concrete spires of what was once Tokyo, all governed by faceless ministers who speak only through sanctioned broadcasts from what was once the former headquarters of the United Nations in Manhattan.

The official governing ideology is known as Imperativity, and all citizen living under this Imperative Union must conform and followed the goal of Imperativity, of this new order they're living under.

The Consul, Horace Francis Priestley, serves as the public face of the Union and has a cult of personality surrounding him.

He speaks for the Union and shares in their power.

But he is merely a figurehead of the Synarchy in control, he is just another cog in the Union's system.

  1. The Civil Authority.

The Civil Authority is the official police force and gendarmerie responsible for law enforcement of all Imperative citizens on Earth.

They are the Sword and Shield of the Union and are made up of volunteers that joined for privileges, status, and identification with the Union.

They also use brutal force as a form of policing and are given free rein to do whatever they want to the downtrodden populace, even at the slightest provocation.

A citizen gives you a dirty look. No problem, he gets a good beating. A citizen does one thing slightly wrong. No problem, he gets sent off to another Haven or the Tower. A citizen refuses to comply to the demands of Imperativity. No problem, he gets a bullet to the back of the head.

  1. The Watchers.

There is also a secret police force known as the Ministry of Imperative Security or MIS also known as the Watchers, they function as the actual Thought Police for the overarching Union.

Whereas the Civil Authority are the Sword and Shield of the Union. The Watchers are the Eyes and Ears of the Union.

The Ministry of Imperative Security are a secret police organization made up largely of party loyalists embedded in the deepest and highest echelons of this Imperative Union.

Many MIS operatives are known as Watchers and are addressed as either agent or by the rank of Watchman.

While conditioned power-craving grunts of the Civil Authority functioned more as prison guards. The Watchers are a systematic force able to instill fear into subjugated populations, able to sense anything that can pose a threat.

The Watchers are rarely ever spotted out in public and are easily distinguished by their sterile white uniforms. They move and coordinate like silent predators, and they rarely ever speak unless they need to, they have the element of inflicting psychological terror. The Watchers specialize in dealing with important, high-value problems that normal grunts of the Civil Authority wouldn't do on their own. They assess a threat and eliminate it; they infiltrate and destroy it from within; they operate with free rein and have a license to kill.

  1. Integrated Regimented Forces.

The Watchers also have a military branch that is derived from the Civil Authority known as Integrated Regimented Forces or IRF.

Civil Authority personnel who wish to grow and upgrade to further ranks are encouraged to undergo augmentation in which their bodies are extensively surgically modified in order to establish full consonance with the Union.

They become known as Regimented.

The Regimented have to be augmented and linked to Watcher and Union command to greater degree. They undergo irreversible changes that integrate Imperative technology into their spines, brains, lungs, abdomen, and other vital areas. The reproductive capabilities are erased, leaving them half-human, half-machine. They retain human traits that the Union finds beneficial and become inhuman in aspects that are beneficial to the interests of the ruling Synarchy. They are equipped with advanced helmets with integrated communications directly connected to the user's skull, and advanced Regimented armor that also integrates directly with the body. Made from strong synthetic fibers and other materials, it can stop assault rifle rounds and includes built-in injectors that can administer medicine or adrenaline, depending on the user's situation.

Notes: "Our Imperative Union" also utilizes a form of controlled speech similar to that of Newspeak that places an emphasis on Placidity and Balance.

Disobedient Populace - Areas of civil unrest. Pacified - Enemy killed, arrested, injured, quelled. Pacification Teams - Security Forces. Pacification Operations - Raid. Disservice - Treason, betrayal, insubordination. Consonance - Peacetime, order. Inconsonance - Wartime, chaos.

The flag of "Our Imperative Union" features three black stars above two horizontal black bars on a white background.
