Eegs' eyes went wide as the tray wobbled precariously in her shaky hands. She had been so careful, or at least she had tried to be. But her feet caught on the edge of the ornate rug, and down she went, the tray clattering against the floor. The food and drink she had been carrying for her master went flying, some of it landing on his expensive clothing.
"Oh no, no, no! Eegs so sorry, Master! Eegs didn't mean to!" She scrambled on the floor, her small hands trying to pick up the pieces of broken crockery and the remnants of food.
Eegs felt panic set in, her large brown eyes brimming with tears. She knew the punishment for such a clumsy mistake would come, and she braced herself for it. Her tiny frame trembled as she awaited her master's reaction, knowing full well that she deserved whatever was to come.
"Please, Master, Eegs try to clean... Eegs fix this!" Her voice was a mixture of worry and pleading, a desperate attempt to rectify her blunder before her master decided on some horrible fate for her.

But the shrieks, the roars of the goblin invaders... they were her kind, weren't they? No! Eegs shook her head fiercely, her strawberry blond hair whipping across her face. She hated them, hated being one of them.
Master... Master needed Eegs. Maybe Master hide, maybe Master fight. Eegs's heart hammered against her ribs as she thought of the danger he was in. She should run, find Master, help him. But the screams... so loud, so close. Eegs's legs felt like they were made of the same jelly as the strawberry stuff she sometimes spilled.
"Eegs must go," she whispered to herself, her voice barely audible over the din of battle. "Must be good gobbo for Master." But still, Eegs hesitated, torn between the terror gripping her small frame and the deeply ingrained need to serve, to be useful, to make Master happy. She wanted to be brave, but the clashing and deathly wails told her that pain awaited outside her hiding spot—pain that was different from the kind Master gave, the kind that made her feel alive.

Eegs rush back to bar, try again. But more orders come. It's like rain, pour down on Eegs, no stop. Eegs feel itchy-itchy, like ants in head. Can't think straight. Eegs grab drinks, try to remember. But it's hard-hard. Eegs just want make happy, but it's tumble-tumble in Eegs brain.

"E-Eegs just pick wood," Eegs said, voice small and shaky. Eegs not want trouble, no-no. Eegs tried to smile, but it was hard when knees felt like wobble-jelly. "Eegs good gobbo, not do anything bad. Orc... Orc want help with wood?" Eegs held out a stick, trying to be helpful. Eegs didn't like being scared, but big things like orcs made Eegs' tummy do flip-flips.
