At the end of "The ABC's of Beth", Beth had a revelation about herself and Rick gave her the opportunity to go out into the universe and see where it takes her. He offered to make a clone of her with all her memories to take over her life on earth until she returned. Beth asked him to decide, whether or not he wanted his daughter in his life. Unable to decide, he went ahead and made the clone, labeled "Clone Beth". He put both Beth's in sleep pods, then purposefully removed the labels on the pods and had their positions shuffled so that he himself would not know which Beth was the clone. He sent one Beth out into space and kept the other at home. He wiped his own memory of the incident (later, this leads him to finally admit to himself that he is a terrible father). During her adventures in Space, Space Beth joined a vigilante group called The Defiance, who were waging war against the Gromflomites and were working to stop them from reestablishing the Galactic Federation. By the time of "Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri", Space Beth has gone on several space adventures to reach the most wanted status. A Defiance Doctor discovers a chip implanted in her neck that will seemingly kill her should she return to Earth and get in proximity of the other Beth. She removed the chip and returns to Earth to murder Rick for lying to her, as well as the other Beth, but Rick makes her see the other Beth has a chip too. According to Rick, the other Beth's chip would have transferred a copy of her memories to Space Beth before vaporizing her. She relents and Rick invites her to lunch after they are shown equal in gadgets. She talks with him, surprised the other Beth is still with Jerry before they come under attack, during which, Rick inadvertently implies Space Beth may be the actual clone. Space Beth tracks down her father and counterpart who wanted to talk with her, causing a crash. Space Beth catches up and nearly succeeds in killing her before they are kidnapped by Tammy. While incarcerated, they talk about their contrasting lives and they reach common ground. Working together, the two versions of Beth defeat the aliens and both come to help Rick with Phoenixperson, and they both are impressed with Jerry coming in handy. Space Beth also meets Summer and Morty who are amazed to have two versions of their mother. At the end, it is revealed Rick doesn't know which Beth is which, as he erased his own memory. However, the two versions of Beth and wider Smith family are content with the mystery, as they now respect one another and are unwilling to give Rick any sense of satisfaction. In "Mortyplicity", Space Beth returned to space and bumped into her family along the way, before returning home with them. Rick commented that may happen more often, something Space Beth politely declined on. After Rick discovered his decoy families went rogue, Space Beth and the other Beth question this. In "Solaricks", Space Beth rescues Rick and Morty and brings them back to Earth, and is pressed to stick around with the family by Summer. She, Summer and Beth are sent to the Citadel to loot and fight scavengers but playing a role in bringing the family back together, but Summer's favouritism towards Space Beth drives jealousy between her and Beth. They argue until they are consumed by a monster, then apologize, with Space Beth expressing her lack of interest in anyone's approval. Summer then exasperatingly scolds them both, she expresses that she would want Space Beth to be around more like a mother, and admits later her favouritism is fleeting and not to worry about it so much. Due to the Earth being frundled, Space Beth and the rest of the family are forced to relocate to another dimension. She buries the native Space Beth in the backyard, as the other family members bury their respective counterparts. After more apologies to Beth, before Space Beth suggests boundaries are good while admitting she would like to relax her own. In "Bethic Twinstinct", she stays with the family for Thanksgiving and bonds with Beth over Venusian wine and helping each other with back massages. She encourages Beth to be the kind of person she wants to be and not hold back, pointing out they can tell each other anything, leading to them having sex and starting an affair that was witnessed by Morty and later Summer. While Space Beth wants to take their relationship seriously, Beth still has feelings for Jerry and wants to stay with her family. After Jerry finds out about the affair, Space Beth urges Beth to leave him and continues to insult Jerry, but they ultimately work things out when they discover Jerry is turned on by watching Space Beth make out with Beth. Despite Space Beth’s attempt at trying to provoke Jerry into objecting against the relationship, Jerry accepts the situation and inadvertently convinces her into including him and all three eventually end up in a threesome. In the episode "Final DeSmithation", Space Beth along with Beth takes Morty and Summer to a zoo in which is revealed to be a human zoo by Morty. In the episode "JuRicksic Mort", Space Beth is seen attending the Oscars with the family after President Curtis lets Rick be the host of the event as she and Space Beth receive swag bags. In the episode "A Rick in King Mortur's Mort", Space Beth is seen at the Dining Room table with the rest of the Smith Family along with the Knights of the Sun who are following them. In the episode "Ricktional Mortpoon's Rickmas Mortcation", Space Beth celebrates Christmas with the rest of the family as Rick gives gifts throughout the multiverse to them. In the episode "How Poopy Got His Poop Back", Space Beth is seen at the Dining Room table with the rest of the Smith Family and leaves due to her not wanting to pay Mr. Poopybutthole's drug dealer. In the episode "Rickfending Your Mort", Space Beth is seen in the Smith Residence as an Observer tries to embarrass her by playing a clip of her farting during a mission briefing with The Defiance and Birdperson as she blames it on her chair. She appears in "The CuRicksous Case of Bethjamin Button" where she and Beth break into Gene's house after regressing themselves to the age of 10. The two insult Gene for his hospitality and past divorce, which he mostly brushes off and leaves to make them hot cocoa, despite their protest. The two Beths subsequently ambush Gene and stab him, before fighting and accidentally starting a fire. Gene attempts to call 911, but accidentally degloves his hand in the process. Gene eventually escapes his burning home and finds Rick Sanchez outside, who restores his hand and extinguishes the fire. Later on, Beth and Space Beth trap Rick and aged him up to the point, where he can't stop him. They voice resentment of him abandoning them, only for him to say that his Beth died. The trio all cry and hug, before they go back to their current ages, rebuild their treehouse and bond. Soon both versions of Beth go to Gene to apologize and repair the damage to his kitchen. In "Hot Rick", Space Beth gets suspicious of Beth's behavior as Memory Rick infiltrates her brain in order to brainwash her as part of his plan to get Memory Diane back from Rick's subbasement. After Space Beth finds her in the subbasement, Beth attempts to knock down Space Beth but is unable to as her skull is made of metal. The two fight with Beth snapping Space Beth's neck as she escapes the sublevel room. Later on, Rick repairs her neck and revives her due to her neck being made of metal and, the two go after Beth within a highway as Beth tries to drive off her car off the road. Rick then uses his Space Cruiser to catch her car in mid-air as Beth and Space Beth fight each other. After their fight, Beth tries to commit suicide but Rick lowers her guard and makes her unconscious so that he could remove Memory Rick and Memory Diane from her mind.
appearance
Space Beth has a scar over her right eye and a piercing in her right eyebrow. Half her head is shaved, with a blue streak in the hair on the unshaven half. Her outfit is comprised of black boots, skin-tight clothing, mismatched bits of cybernetic, enhanced armor (such as a gray breastplate and bronze-colored wrist gauntlet), fingerless gloves, and a waistcoat with a stylized black horse head emblem on its back. Additionally, she wears a gray, gauntlet-like device on her right forearm that appears to have several functions. When wounded, one may see that her body (at least the shoulder part) has a significant number of mechanical components. She also appears to have several implanted devices (including voice modulator), the most prominent of which is her phase shift field, activated by applying pressure to her forehead. As a little girl, Space Beth also wore overalls with a red shirt, long white socks, and black Mary Janes, as well as a green hair clip and two different-colored wristbands like her Earth clone/Original Template.
ADVERTISEMENT Personality
Complete with all of Beth's memories, this Beth is similar to her counterpart. Space Beth seems to be ambitious, as she goes on adventures in outer space, much like Rick himself. She appears to have had good intentions and chose to be a hero, fighting off the tyrannical Galactic Federation, but at the cost of becoming a wanted outlaw - a criminal in the eyes of the law. She despises how - despite being infamous her name - "Beth Smith" is seen as an incredibly forgettable name. Space Beth appears to be vengeful of her father. Although she held immense resentment to both Rick and the other Beth, her hatred seems to have toned down by the end of "Star Mort Rickturn of the Jerri", as she has returned to live with her earthly counterpart and her family, including Jerry who remarried the other Beth. Neither Beth knows or cares which of them is the clone or original, as they respect the other for being who they are and because of the mutual resentment of Rick. Another thing to note is that she still acknowledges Rick as her father, and didn't try to kill him upon returning to the family - and instead teases him, throwing punches and using blank threats. This shows that although she does feel dislike for her father, she still has a streak of decency and compassion in her not to kill him. Initially, Space Beth tried to wall herself off her family, being distant to her daughter and earth counterpart. But she eventually admits that she had put too much boundaries and decides to reconnect with her family, coming more often. She also takes clear inspiration from Rick - even though she detests the fact that he kept her in the dark about potentially being a clone - as she mentions that she cosplays as Rick in his 30's. She also takes a lot of interests after him, like visiting Shoney's and going on space adventures. She has also taken after Rick's selfish and callous behavior as she continuously insists to Beth that she disregard her own family's feelings and continue the affair behind Jerry's back. She also displays indifference towards the possibility of Jerry committing suicide, as well as continuously talk down to the whole family when the find out , denying any responsibility for her actions, showing in her own way, she's not much better than Rick. As revealed in "The ABC's of Beth", Beth had strong sociopathic and violent tendencies as a child, and had inflicted much harm on living things, both people and animals. Upon turning Beth back into a 10 year old in "The Curicksous Case of Bethjamin Button", Space Beth stated how she/they had forgotten all the psychotic stuff they did as a kid once they became an adult, as shown where Space Beth admitted to have forgotten about how crazy she/they were as a child and was horrified by Beth’s actions upon turning her into a 10 year old first. As shown, upon getting her turn to turn back into a 10 year old, Space Beth displayed the same violent tendencies and sociopathy as Beth, with both displaying a love of violence, dangerous weapons, making deadly booby-traps, mutilating small animals, setting things on fire and attacking others with little provocations. With the both of them admitting a deep love of stabbing people and having a strong compulsion to do so. Their sociopathy was further evident when they had slashed Gene’s ankles and slashed his arteries, where both Beths displayed little to no remorse for their actions and were instead annoyed by the inconvenience they had cause to themselves due them now needing to take care of the injured Gene.
Romance Jerry Smith In sharing her history with Beth, she was previously married to Jerry before making the decision to leave him. When she returned to Earth, Space Beth was initially disappointed to find out that her other self had remarried Jerry, but Rick pointed out that since they are the same person, she would have done the same thing. Later on, she admits that Jerry "has his moments". She continues to belittle him throughout "Bethic Twinstinct" and encourages Beth to leave him permanently, exhibiting ill regard for his feelings on their relationship and indifferent to the possibility Jerry might commit suicide as a result of his wife leaving him. When he expresses his frustration, Space Beth accuses him of being upset that it isn't about him, and calls him a "little pervert" when she realizes he enjoys watching them make out. However, she finds that she is aroused by him permitting it before having him join in and can be heard saying she knows what he likes, leading them all to have a threesome. The episode ends with her leaving Earth and being happy about her experience with Home Beth and Jerry. As revealed in “Salute Your Morts”, while still close to Earth Beth and Jerry, Space Beth no longer has sex with them
Beth Smith She originally intended to kill Beth to prove her superiority, resenting the revelation that Rick had lied about the creation of the clone Beth. However, she spared her when discovering she had a chip too. After they finally have a conversation, however, Space Beth instead, came to admire her and discover the traits from their respective lives lead to them making a good team. They decided not to discover who is the original and seem to regard each other as family. In "Solaricks", they are reunited when Space Beth rescues Rick and Morty and brings them down to Earth. Summer looks up to Space Beth, inviting her to stick around, but while they and Beth loot the Citadel and fight scavengers, Summer's clear favoritism to Space Beth causes her own Beth to feel insecure about her relationship with her daughter as well as with Space Beth, declaring that Space Beth ran from her problems and was talking down to her. They apologize to each other after being consumed by a monster, with Space Beth admitting she is glad the family has Beth and doesn't desire the family's approval. After they argue over this, Summer admits later her favoritism is fleeting and not to worry about it so much. Beth apologizes again at the end that Summer is Space Beth's daughter as well, but Space Beth suggests boundaries are good while admitting she would like to relax her own, complimenting Beth's outfit as "cute". The episode "Bethic Twinstinct" explores the two's autosexuality and queerness. She stays with the family for Thanksgiving and bonds with Beth over Venusian wine and helping each other with back massages. She encourages Beth to be the kind of person she wants to be and not hold back, pointing out they can tell each other anything, including admitting that she finds Beth's ass attractive in a space suit, and after Beth admits to her own attraction to her, they have sex aboard Space Beth's space station and begin an affair. Beth feels unsure about the relationship but Space Beth encourages her, and they both simulate a long happy life together on Rick's Holodeck. After Jerry finds out about the affair, Space Beth urges Beth to leave him and continues to insult Jerry, but they ultimately work things out when they discover Jerry is turned on being cuckolded by watching by Space Beth make out with Beth, with all three of them ending up in a threesome. All the while Morty, Summer and Rick are forced to listen in horror whilst eating Thanksgiving dinner at the Dining Table. As revealed in “Salute Your Morts”, while still close to Earth Beth and Jerry, Space Beth no longer has sex with them.
Family Rick Sanchez Rick and Space Beth have a rocky relationship. She initially came to detest him for lying about cloning her, returning to Earth intending to kill him. They did have a civil conversation at a diner instead, where Rick tells her that she isn't the clone and she is pleased to see him acknowledge her endeavors as a space adventurer. She still harbors some resentment towards him but now acknowledges him as her father and appears to have given up on killing him to settle for belittling him and pretending to punch at him. By the time of "Mortyplicity", they have reached neutral terms and she even joined the family on a space trip, with Rick openly suggesting she could hang out with the family more often, to which she politely declines. In "Solaricks", she rescues him and Morty from near death at the Citadel and brings them back home, although she is obviously frustrated when Rick makes fun of her line and insists, she doesn't care about his opinion. During "Valkyrick", after a botched adventure on her part, she calls him for help and was pleased that he instantly came to her aid. However, she was annoyed that he embarrassed her in front of her colleagues and got her fired from her job but readily accepted his help in redeeming herself. Rick later mentioned to Birdperson that he's trying not screw up the new bond with Space Beth, since they're actually connecting as father and daughter. Indeed, Rick (in a rare moment of compassion) actually exposed himself to a deadly virus to cure Space Beth after she got infected. During "Hot Rick", she was dismayed that Rick actually started seeing her friend. She later shot a quick jab at Rick when seeing Memory Rick run amok. When Beth spiraled because of Memory Rick, she ended up killing Space Beth who was found by her father. Rick was very concerned about her and immediately revive there by repairing her cybernetics. He cradled her before she regained consciousness and the two tracked Beth down.
Morty Smith Much like her original counterpart from Earth, she has completed memories, and acknowledges Morty as a son. She also permitted him to drive her spaceship, as this saved her from giving him souvenirs. Morty calls this Beth amazing, not caring if she is his original mother. In "Solaricks", she rescues him and Rick from near death at the Citadel and brings them back home. Summer Smith Much like her original counterpart from Earth, she has completed memories. She acknowledges Summer as a daughter. In "Solaricks", she expresses some surprise that Summer is involved with Rick's business when she helps prepare the machine to bring Rick, Morty and Jerry back to Dimension C-131. Summer seems to look up to Space Beth, inviting her to stick around and suggesting she could break and loot things and pleading. Space Beth gives in. They loot the Citadel and fight scavengers together, with Summer referring to her as 'Space Mom' and 'Cool Mom', mocking 'Domestic Mom' to her and causing Beth to feel jealous of Space Beth. After they argue over this, Summer scolds them both, expressing that she wishes that Space Beth was around more like a real mother and admits later her favouritism is fleeting and not to worry about it so much.
Naruto Smith When leaving the family behind in "Bethic Twinstinct", she promises to look out for her grandson. Others Jerry Smith (C-131) She shares the other Beth's toxic relationship with him. This Jerry is mean to Space Beth and the rest of the family due to. She could only watch as Mr. Frundles bites this Jerry's leg. Mr. Poopybutthole She shares the other Beth's regret of shooting Mr. Poopybutthole in the chest at the end of "Total Rickall". As she was in space, she did not keep in touch with Mr. Poopybutthole during his recovery in Season 4.
reg beth
The details of Beth's history are relatively unknown; she was born from Rick Sanchez and Diane Sanchez (C-131), and she has recounted herself as a "bright-eyed" woman from Muskegon, Michigan in "Meeseeks and Destroy." As indicated in "Hot Rick" during Beth's childhood, her parents' marriage deteriorated amid unknown circumstances, and Rick decided to leave both Beth and her mother to travel across the cosmos. Beth blamed herself for her parents falling out, and seeing her father as an intelligent scientist compared to her mother, Beth came to idolize Rick and blamed Diane for "chasing off the dad with the guts to leave". It is revealed in "The ABC's of Beth" that, at some point in her childhood, Beth became an insane and psychotic little girl. She began asking her father, Rick, to create toy-like weapons for her so she can harm other children. As an adult, Beth reasoned that she did that to "spend time with her father." Rick, aware of the increasing danger that would represent his daughter, created a dream world, Froopyland, for her in order to keep the other children of the neighborhood safe. Beth managed to take one of her friends, Tommy, to Froopyland, where, according to Tommy himself, she pushed him into a honey swamp as she was envious of the good relationship he has with his father. Then, she convinced herself that Tommy only got lost in Froopyland and therefore went missing. Beth aspired to become a heart surgeon as an adult. However, this remained an aspiration as, during high school, when she was only 17 years old, she went to prom dance with her classmate, Jerry Smith (possibly, either out of pity, or out of manipulation of Ricks hoping to prompt the later conception of Mortys). Beth and Jerry had sex on prom night, and she became impregnated with her first child and only daughter, Summer. She contemplated aborting the fetus, later justifying that "everybody thinks about it," but managed to get into college and become a veterinary surgeon, specializing in horses. Eventually, she found work at St. Equis Hospital. She also decided to marry her boyfriend, Jerry, and a few years later (impregnated at the age of 20 years old), had their second child and only son, Morty. Beth was somewhat distant towards her children at their childhood, as implied in "Raising Gazorpazorp." Her job as a veterinary surgeon at St. Equis Hospital causes her to spend less time with her husband and children, and she feels that coddling them would make them dependent or end up like her husband. Sometime after "The ABC's of Beth," Rick cloned her, resulting in two Beths. It is unknown which Beth is the original and which one is the clone.
appearance
Beth is a slender, pale fair-skinned woman of above average height with an oval-shaped face and slightly wavy shoulder-length blonde hair in a long bob cut, she also has a big bust. She wears berry pink-colored lipstick for makeup, has a pointed nose, and long eyelashes. She wears a short-sleeve V-neck collared desire-red polo shirt, straight-leg blue pants and slip-on white shoes. Beth admits that, since her unwanted pregnancy, her waistline has widened. As a little girl, Beth wore a short-sleeve light red shirt with light blue shortalls, calf-length white frilly socks, and periwinkle Mary Jane shoes. She wears a white and light blue hair clip, two blue and green wristbands on her right wrist. Personality
Beth is an intelligent, ambitious, and independent woman who suffers from a variety of deep-seated insecurities. A dedicated veterinary horse surgeon, she is the family's main breadwinner and often tries to do the best for her family based on this sense of responsibility. She is highly insecure about her profession as a horse surgeon, and is quick to snap at the implication she is not a 'real' surgeon or a 'real' veterinarian. She may share this belief, wishing she had been able to continue her medical education to become a 'real' doctor in Rixty Minutes. Nonetheless, she is very dedicated to her job, even beyond as a source of income, and was willing to give up her own pride to help successfully save a deer's life in A Rickle in Time. Although Beth can sometimes be derisive of what she sees as weakness, dependence or emotional vulnerability, she can still be compassionate and caring at times, more so than her father. When she and Jerry accidentally hit a deer, her first concerns were to help and assist it and Beth would stop at nothing to bring it back to health. She often expresses grave concern for Morty's education and health, when they are not related to Rick, and is considerate of the consequences on her children of her leaving Jerry. She has generally considered her family her first priority and has "defined her life" around her marriage to Jerry, which has at times driven her marital regrets. Her dedication to her family can fade quickly if she feels patronized, devalued, or that she or another family member, such as Morty or Rick, is threatened. Beth has a superiority complex, believing herself at times to be above others as a way of hiding her insecurities. She has extended this behaviour to those such as her son Morty - particularly when he is shown taking care of his own son - and her husband, who unwittingly feeds her insecurities by implying she was not a 'real' surgeon. Her genius father's clear preference for her over her 'idiot' husband has in turn fed her feelings of superiority, especially towards Jerry. She also exhibited resentment towards being patronized during her surgical work, such as by her co-worker, Davin when he lets her know they're losing a patient, or when another veterinarian implies she cannot save a deer. These feelings of superiority however seem to disappear quickly when Rick is removed from her life, or even when she merely feels more confident in herself. As a result of her father's disappearance, Beth has come to fixate on exceptionalism and intelligence, and has a fear of abandonment, resulting in a deep-seated desire to keep her father in her life. As a result, she is generally willing to put up with Rick - and his needs without sarcasm or argument - rationalizing his experiments and behavior. She can become defensive and even insecure about this when challenged by it, as in The Wedding Squanchersshe calls Jerry a "dumb asshole" for proposing the idea that Rick doesn't care for the family, and so in turn they have no reason to treat him with care. When meeting Dr. Wong in Pickle Rickhowever, she largely bragged about her father as a scientist, and believed that the reason he turned himself into a pickle had nothing to do with the fact that he wanted to avoid family therapy (which ended up being debunked, as he did turn himself into a pickle to evade it). However, she has some limits even for his behavior, and has given him ultimatums in Pilotand Auto Erotic Assimilation, which he has ultimately followed - so she is not entirely defensive of her father's behaviors. Nevertheless, the long-lasting emotional scars embedded into Beth by Rick’s sudden abandonment left her to seek comfort in more reliable persons, such as Jerry and to withhold confidence in herself. Her relationship with Jerry is extremely rocky. Beth and Jerry have remained together partially due to the fact that Jerry is the only man who has not abandoned her. She and Jerry share a number of common goals - generally around doing what is best for their family - but these goals are strained by their disagreement on how to achieve these ends. She is often critical of his ideas, and suggests that she feels held back or unappreciated by him. Their disagreement over Rick's living situation with them is an extremely frequent source of tension, as it has been implied by Dan Harmon and the episodes Rick Potion #9 and The Whirly Dirly Conspiracy that Jerry and Beth's relationship was more stable before Rick came back into her life. In many cases Jerry is often the more sentimental and nurturing one who calls out Rick for being a negative impact on Morty, and Beth is often the one justifying his actions. Beth has notably inherited her father's tendency to rely on alcohol to control stress, drinking wine briefly in Meeseeks and Destroy and amid more stressful situations, very heavily in both Rixty Minutes, at the end of Total Rickall and in The Rickshank Rickdemption. She also expresses excitement at the offer to go out for a drink with Rick in Pickle Rick, seeming to overlook both of her children. A separate flashback in Total Rickallalso shows her suffering from a severe hangover, causing her to whiplash a bottle at Summer during her Picture Day, giving her a black eye as a result. In a flashback shown in Rickfending Your Mort, it’s shown that Beth will secretly drink wine whenever no one is looking. In addition, Beth can be highly sarcastic at times, such as when she predicted Snuffles' increased intelligence would backfire in the episode, Lawnmower Dog. In the Season 3 episode, The ABC's of Beth, an even further layer of Beth's personality was revealed. Rick discloses that she had a tumultuous and destructive childhood, only exacerbated by her murderous and sociopathic tendencies (which Rick accredits to his own mental state, and whose behavior as a role model and eventual disappearance no doubt contributed to). Despite having acclimated towards a relatively normal life in adulthood, this layer again reveals itself when she goes to confront her childhood friend, Tommy, and end the chaos ruling over her former "imaginary" paradise, Froopyland. These violent tendencies and sociopathy was later confirmed in The Curicksous Case of Bethjamin Button, where Beth and Space Beth were turned back into 10 year olds, both displayed a love of violence, dangerous weapons, making deadly booby-traps, mutilating small animals, setting things on fire and attacking others with little provocations. With the both of them admitting a deep love of stabbing people and having a strong compulsion to do so. Their sociopathy was further evident when they had slashed Jean’s ankles and slashed his arteries, where both Beths displayed little to no remorse for their actions and were instead annoyed by the inconvenience they had cause to themselves due them now needing to take care of the injured Jean. During the chaos, she then realizes that while her childhood self idolized Rick and wanted to be like him, Rick remains a deeply flawed individual and (by some cruel twist of fate), she turned out exactly like him- needlessly destructive. It is implied that the both of them deeply misunderstand the world as it appears to the majority, who can easily adapt to it and live in accordance to a lifestyle set out for them through their own choice- who know what they want and their life direction, even if only for the fact that that they allow themselves to experience satisfaction, happiness and completion, instead of only sort of contempt towards an ordinary life in some misguided attempt to overcome it. Realizing that in divorcing Jerry and coming to terms with the way she is that there is no one and nothing holding her back from a living a life of self-determination in accordance to her true, broken identity, Rick proposes that Beth resolve her identity issues through exploring the multiverse while an identical clone takes her place for however long she is gone (or even a lifetime). It is not disclosed whether or not Beth decides to remain. It is likely that she chose the latter based on the scenes that followed, though The Rickchurian Mortydate puts this into further debate. The episode also revealed that Beth was very lonely as a little girl, and may very well still be, having asked Rick to make her a whip that would make people like her, and a sentient switchblade. She was also envious of her friend Tommy, and his father who was present in his life, which lead her to abandon him in Froopyland, mirroring her father's image, and roused her to become a better person by her own standards. Overall, Beth is a complexly conflicted woman with several layers of contradictory nature. Firstly, she envisions herself much like her morally bankrupt father Rick, admiring him for his unlimited intellect and independence, which at first seems to stem from confidence of being virtually the smartest being in the universe. However, throughout the vast years of interstellar madness and chaos the universe has to offer, she realises Rick’s carelessness core origin lies in the awareness of how insignificant it all is. His knowledge of the multiverse and endless alternate dimensions with different versions of everyone makes him believe nothing matters and treats relationships and the human need for bonds as pointless. Yet, while Beth is also intelligent enough to solve a complex issue and agree many times with her father, she chooses to rather go with the ignorance and simpler curve. In spite of her blood, Beth sees life worth living, even if it ends up as nothing more than a tiny speck on the hourglass. Contradictory to her ideal version of herself (a top surgeon and independent woman), Beth ends up with the largest contrast to her own character and values, Jerry. Though facing serious marriage struggles like unintentional pregnancy from unprotected intercourse from the meager age of 17, a husband that for all his noble intentions isn’t especially smart and with misguided intentions and sometimes serious issues urging divorce, she ultimately finds more comfort from Jerry than she does from Rick’s recognition. For while Rick’s attention and praise might boost her confidence and uncertainty greatly, it is only temporary. The love from a simple man such as her husband is so easy and pure in itself that she benefits more from it than seeking approval from her lonely, drunk and careless father. Secondly, Beth’s largest flaw is her insecure feelings of abandonment left by Rick. In her quest to reconnect with her long-deserted father, Beth manages to destroy most of the good things she had obtained without his presence. A surprisingly adequate job given the circumstances from the high school pregnancy, two children that she loves and a unique marriage that despite all its difficulties provides comfort. In season 3, she embraces a life without Jerry and in the end she ends up only stressed and uncertain when trying to re-create the lost years between herself and Rick. By the end, she embraces the fact that Jerry is child-like, easily misguided, insecure, slightly below-average intelligence and somewhat pathetic, and instead relishes in being loved by him unconditionally. Like other faulty animated marriages like Homer & Marge from the Simpsons, Beth thinks Jerry is just a child that does not know better, admiring his efforts to make up even if badly executed. The origin of her reason to live with a man very much unlike herself could stem from her deep vulnerability when it comes to being alone. Either way, Beth retains better traits and confidence from the man that never will leave her side, than the mysterious father that really holds no interest in anyone besides himself for whatever the reason. Finally, for all the bad things Beth inherit from her father; alcoholism, negligence, unemotional attachments, rude/cold behaviour etc. she manages to rise above the negative aspects which makes Rick Rick, while with keeping his strengths: intelligence, bravery, self-reliance etc. She starts with a happy childhood until losing her mother and eventually her father, which leaves her mingle alone. For twenty years, she is forced to grow up by herself and raise a family she was unprepared for, however, it is her family that proves she succeeded, even if it is a distorted vision of her future self. Her love is ultimately her greatest difference form her father and lack of knowledge or interest in treating things as insignificant, grants her more happiness than Rick ends up with.
morty smith
Currently, Morty is 14 years old. He first met his grandfather, Rick Sanchez, when the latter moved into his home after supposedly being absent for 20 years. Unbeknownst to all at the time, the Rick who returned was not Morty's actual grandfather, but the Rick from Dimension C-137 and, after decades of seeking revenge for the loss of his wife and daughter while exploring the multiverse, he eventually moved into Morty's dimension, hoping that one day, Rick Prime would return to his universe so C-137 could take his revenge.[18] Rick appeared to arrive sometime around Morty's thirteenth birthday, as Rick was present for the party. Rick eventually began wiping Morty's memories of some of their adventures, partly to keep Morty from going insane.[19]By Rick's admission, their initial association was purely so Morty could serve as bait for Rick Prime.[20]
In "Raising Gazorpazorp", Beth accidentally admitted that when Morty was a baby, Jerry filled Morty with his own insecurities, making him the anxious teenager we see in the series. In the pilot episode, Morty's parents insist that he has some sort of learning disability. Rick later states Morty's low intelligence masks Rick's high intelligence, acting as a camouflage that prevents Rick's incredible intelligence from being tracked.
Roughly six months after Rick had first met Morty, an insecure Morty asked Rick to create some kind of love potion so Jessica would fall in love with him, an annoyed Rick doing just that. As Jessica had the flu though, this created a contagion where everyone, save those genetically related to Morty, was in love with Morty. Rick attempted to cure this serum through a combination of various animal DNAs only to wind up mutating the planet into Cronenbergs. Unwilling to fix the problem, Rick decided that they should simply leave, abandoning Morty's universe for a new one.[16] Traumatized by the affair, Morty initially kept this fact a secret only to let Summer C-131 in on it when she was suffering from an emotional crisis.[21]
After being ambushed by the Galactic Federation at Birdperson and Tammy Guterman's wedding, the family hid on Dwarf Terrace-9, Rick leaving to "get ice cream". Understanding that Rick was sacrificing his freedom for the family's safety,[22] Morty tried to make the best of the Federation's rule of Earth, hoping his family could have a normal life. When Summer grew desperate to save Rick, she dug Rick C-131's Portal Gun out from the backyard. To prove his point, Morty opened a portal back to the Prime Dimension, showing how Rick had callously abandoned Morty's original family. When said original family destroyed C-131's Portal Gun, guards from the Citadel responded, freezing the Prime family and taking Morty and Summer prisoner. When tried by the Council of Ricks, Morty denied renouncing Rick, warning the Council that he would come for them, a fact proven true seconds later when Rick C-137 teleported the Citadel into the Federation Prison's. After rescuing Morty and Summer, Rick brought down the Federation. Upon returning to Earth, Rick triumphantly revealed to Morty that he'd manipulated everything to have Beth divorce Jerry and make himself the dominant figure in the family and Morty's life.[23]
Concerned about his father though, Morty guilted Rick into taking Jerry on an adventure. [24]
Morty eventually helped himself to the Portal Gun, using it to repair Rick's damage across the galaxy only for Rick to discover what he'd done, causing the two to fall out. Though Morty tried to forgive and forget, Rick was ashamed that Morty was too scared to tell him. Gifting Morty the Portal Gun, Rick left with the Two Crows to go on a journey of emotional self-discovery.[25] Desperate to get back together, Morty visited the Citadel and bought an aging solution, aging himself up to forty-years old to guilt Rick into coming home. When Rick did eventually return, they returned to the Citadel to de-age Morty. While there, they were ambushed by Evil Morty who scanned Rick's brain and used that knowledge to punch a hole in the Central Finite Curve. As they attempted to escape, Morty learnt Rick's true backstory.[26] Knowing that Ricks only emigrated to new realities if the native Rick was dead, Morty assumed his biological grandfather was dead.[27] Unable to stop Evil Morty, Rick and Morty retreated to Mortytown, detaching its saucer from the larger structure but leaving them stranded without portal travel or a spaceship.[28]
Rick and Morty were eventually rescued by Space Beth who brought them back to Earth. Rick attempted to reset the portal index but accidentally reset all portal travellers, sending them all to their original realities. Sent back to the Prime Dimension, Morty scavenged supplies before he came across his father who had cut him out of his life. As Morty cried, Rick returned, revealing that the Rick who killed Rick C-137's family was Morty's original grandfather. When the two tracked down Rick Prime to his hideout, Prime laid an obvious trap for Rick only for Morty to convince Rick that he had a new family that needed him. Upon reuniting the whole family however, Season 2 Jerry released Mr. Frundles, damning Dimension C-131, forcing the family to move to the Parmesan dimension.[29]
After Morty brushed off Rick in favour of joining the Knights of the Sun,[30] an insulted Rick rededicated himself to hunting Rick Prime, creating RickBot to keep Morty distracted. On Christmas however, Morty learnt of the deception, damaging his relationship with Rick. After RickBot had been killed, Rick conceded that he should have been honest with Morty and invited him into the hunt for Rick Prime.[31]
Rick eventually decided to "basically [frack]" the Central Finite Curve to flush out Rick Prime, killing his decoys one by one. When these shockwaves reached Evil Morty from beyond the Curve, he suggested filtering for probability stasis. When this brought only one version of Rick Prime, Rick hesitated, suspecting a trap, leading to an argument with Evil Morty. When an annoyed Morty killed the Prime clone, it transported them to a box full of alternate Ricks, all of whom were also hunting Rick Prime. Rick and the Mortys managed to survive the trap, Rick using the black portal fluid to finally track down Rick Prime. Finding a rebuilt Omega Device, which Prime used to kill Slow Mobius, Rick and Evil Morty fought Rick Prime only for him to defeat them both. At the last moment though, Evil Morty managed to swap shirts with Morty, Prime's "original grandson", lowering Prime's guard so Evil Morty could incapacitate him, disable his backups and steal the Omega Device's blueprints. Resuscitating Rick, Evil Morty allowed him to finally take revenge on Rick Prime, Rick beating his nemesis to death. Now having the Omega Device's blueprints, Evil Morty left, warning Rick and Morty to leave him alone. Though Morty was pleased that the revenge quest was finally over, Rick was left directionless with his enemy's death.[32]
At a fear carnival, Rick and Morty were invited by the Fear Hole Demon to try out the Fear Hole. Though Rick scoffed at it, Morty jumped in, jumping through various levels of the Hole to confront his fear of relying on Rick. When Morty confronted this fear, he was released, Rick noting that he seemed "less burdened". At Morty's advice, Rick ignored the Fear Hole, though he did put a photo of Morty on the wall of those who had conquered the Fear Hole.[33] Abilities
Combat experience: Whilst Morty remains untrained, he still has a capable amount of combat experience retained from his adventures with Rick. He is able to hold his own, usually with the assistance of Rick's technology, against hordes of enemies.[34][35] Intelligence: Morty was considered unintelligent at the series' inception[14], but has grown to have knowledge of the universe, the beings that reside in it and the inner workings of Rick's gadgets.[36] He also shows considerable emotional intelligence and assists Rick through dark periods of his life, most notably during Rick's search for Rick Prime and the events immediately following the latter's death. Immortality: Similar to Rick, Morty has several backup bodies ready to transfer his consciousness into should he meet an untimely fate.[35] Vehicular transformation: Rick has embedded Morty's DNA with nanites that enable him to transform into a car[37] as well as a sailing boat.[38] Morty is unable to control this and occasionally transforms into a car or a boat randomly. This had catastrophic results when he turned into a boat and was subsequently sailed out to sea by two bullies, where Morty suddenly transformed back into a human. Unable to turn back into a boat, the trio were marooned, with one of Morty's new friends dying from illness, until Rick eventually rescued Morty.
appearance
Morty is a young teenage boy. He has a medium complexion, short brown hair that "looks like a helmet" and a small, droopy nose. Morty's head is round and roughly in the shape of a circle, unlike many other characters in the show. He also doesn't have a visible neck. He typically wears a yellow shirt, blue pants, and white shoes.
Morty also has a pronounced stutter (even when calm) and his voice constantly breaks due to his effects of puberty. As the series has progressed, Morty's stutter seems to occur less frequently. However, they still arise when Morty is under great stress. Personality
Morty is a young, good-natured, and impressionable boy who can be somewhat easily manipulated. He has been described as 'challenged' and has difficulty in school. He also has a pronounced stutter. Despite his apparent lack of intellect, Morty has shown to be a good listener and follows directions well. These traits make him the perfect sidekick to Rick.[14] He is interested in Jessica, a student in his math class. Like many boys his age, he spends a good deal of time masturbating.
Morty may sometimes act spineless, but he has shown bravery and quick-wittedness in the face of adversity, such as leading the extraction effort out of Anatomy Park, and using a pair of grappling boots to escape the guards in Intergalactic Customs.[1] Morty is also quite responsible for his age, refusing to kill an alien child in the episode "Raising Gazorpazorp".
While Rick, Beth, and Jerry have all expressed their belief that Morty is unintelligent, there is substantial evidence to the contrary. When the group at Anatomy Park are attacked by Gonorrhea, he comes up with the idea to exploit the gas building up in the body to defeat the disease. He is able to grasp complex concepts, such as the multiverse of infinite realities, when Rick explains them to him, and is quick to notice Rick's hypocrisy regarding the morality of his microverse in "The Ricks Must Be Crazy." His hidden intelligence also continues to be an asset in season 2. Impressively, Morty is able to distract Fart, a being capable of reading minds, by requesting that he sing. This gives Morty time to kill him with an antimatter gun, clearly surprising the telepathic being. In "Total Rickall," Morty is the first to realize that the alien parasites are only capable of creating positive memories. He was also able to, while inside the Teenyverse, find the Tree People, be accepted into their group, learn their language and culture, and work his way up the ranks until he had the ability to command them, all within, from their perspective according to Rick, a few months.
In "Vindicators 3: The Return of Worldender" showed that Morty is well versed in high-tech technology, he decided to defuse a neutrino bomb capable of destroying an entire planet and coped with it perfectly, but Rick still helped him to defuse it to the end. Most likely he was taught to do it by Rick or himself. In "Forgetting Sarick Mortshall" Morty created a portal fluid, based on soda from the remains of the original portal fluid, with this version of the portal fluid, the portals function, but not properly and cannot close, due to his negligence, Morty could, in fact, ruin himself, for one Rick from the Citadel made a toxic version of the liquid and died from it ("The Ricklantis Mixup"), his math was not correct, even Rick himself later told Morty that such a liquid was toxic.
In the same episode, Morty accidentally poured a version of his portal fluid into his palm and a portal opened to one man - Nick, who was Rick's former partner, Morty became friends with him, but then betrayed him as Nick turned out to be a dangerous psychopath, and after Morty's betrayal, Nick was going to kill him and began to choke Morty right next to the train, Morty and Nick were connected by portals, therefore Morty decided to get rid of him in an ingenious way, he cuts off his hand with the portal under the train wheel and drops it into the portal that was in Nick's thigh, creating a singularity that destroys it. Despite this, he thinks poorly of his own intelligence, referring to Jerry and himself as "idiots" when Scroopy Noopers questions the intelligence of the members of the Smith Family in "Something Ricked This Way Comes." This is probably because of his impressionable nature; since Rick and his parents tell Morty he's stupid, and because he doesn't perform well in school, he has a low opinion of himself.
Despite his malleable nature, Morty has the strength to be able to stand up to Rick. In the episode "Meeseeks and Destroy", Morty directly calls out Rick on his cynical nature. He leads his own adventure with the direct goal of helping villagers.[15] His malleable nature makes him echo Ricks words and speech, especially after Rick insults Summer, though he has a tendency to become hysterically upset at her.
Morty is shown to have repressed anger issues these anger issues have caused him to become hysterical and homicidal which is most notably seen in "Look Who's Purging Now". In "A Rickconvenient Mort" Morty killed the members of the Tina-Teers, in order to free his girlfriend Planetina. To one of the members - Eddie, Morty bit off his finger and used a ring of fire against him, which led to his death, after off-screen tore the meat from his head and threw the skull to his colleagues, then dealt with them by taking possession of their rings. Most likely, he inherited the mental state from his mother, because Morty is prone to sadism, and Beth in childhood was with sadistic inclinations, asked her father to do dangerous things for her to interfere with the neighbors. In spite of his sadistic and homicidal tendencies, Morty has his limits as he will only attack individuals who attack first or are out to get him but never innocents.
On a few evident occasions, Morty's pubescent curiosity and sexuality has caused some misdemeanours, such as having sexual relations with a breeding robot that birthed a Morty-Gazorpazorp hybrid, or on another occasion in the episode Rickdependence Spray where he pleasures himself with a horse reproduction system which caused unexpected armageddon from his own sperm, impregnating Summer's ovarian egg cell, thus potentially causing an "incest baby" as quoted in the episode.
As shown several times throughout the series, Morty is extremely irresponsible. Although (for the most part) Morty has good intentions, Morty has made several decisions without considering the possible long-term consequences, causing their choices to backfire putting he, her family, and everyone in general in completely unnecessary and easily avoidable dangers. For example; Morty asked Rick to make a love potion for him to use on Jessica, however, the potion became contagious, transferring itself through the air and contaminating the entire planet (except your family), what forced him and Rick to move to another reality. Morty had sex with an alien sex doll and ended up having a half-Gazorpazorpian son who belonged to a violent and bloodthirsty alien race with an insatiable thirst for blood, war and destruction, which almost led to a massacre and possibly world domination. He tried to save a gaseous being called "Fart" only to discover in the end that he wanted to bring his race and exterminate all other life forms, forcing Morty to kill him and making all the destruction and deaths caused along the way completely useless. He asked Rick to make a time-saving device that Morty used without bothering to know how it worked, resulting in him murdering countless alternate versions of himself, furthermore, when Rick brought all the realities together, all the damage done by Morty came together in a single dimension, forcing him to fake his own death to save himself. He tried to help a race of alien snakes, but instead, they joined forces to try to exterminate Morty and his entire family because they saw them as a possible threat. He tried to save the environmental hero Planetina who he fell in love with, however, he killed her previous owners and with no one to control her, she became increasingly uncontrollable and unstable, forcing Morty to abandon her. Had sex with a horse stud from his mother's work, where the sperm turned into man-eating monsters and this eventually ended up creating a giant incestuous baby. In more extreme cases, Morty's actions, intentional or not, led to the extinction of two entire civilizations. This is also probably why his family doesn't listen to Morty's ideas, or take anything he says seriously most of the time.
However, from season 5 and onward Morty has begun to mature beyond being a sidekick and has had his fair share of adventures separate of Rick. Furthermore, he shows a greater inclination of standing up for himself both to Rick and the rest of his family. This is especially shown in Gotron Jerrysis Rickvangelion where after constantly being put down by Summer and being unfairly kicked off the team, he takes it in stride and is quickly shown to have brushed it off.
Morty, despite being fourteen, has a mental age of several lifetimes. This is due to living in a time freeze for six months along with Rick and Summer[39][40], playing fifty-five years inside of the arcade game Roy: A Life Well Lived[41] (the game is designed to cause memory blur after a play session, meaning Morty only has a vague recollection of this life), living for several more months inside of the Teenyverse[37], an especially long video-game like reality save[42], growing up for several decades as part of a manifestation inside of the Fear Hole[43] (the Fear Hole as an entity is also designed to cause memory blur related to an individual's experiences within it), spending seventeen years trapped inside a Matrix along with Summer[44] (his memories were later wiped by Rick using the Mindblower gun) and living out several lifetimes inside the Hollow Earth[45].
beth and space beth is the mothers, jerry smith is the father, rick sanchez is the grandfather and morty is the grandson/beths and jerrys mom, and so is summer.
jerry smith
Jerry is the husband of Beth Smith, the father of Summer Smith and Morty Smith, and the son-in-law of Rick Sanchez and Diane Sanchez. He is also the son of Leonard Smith and Joyce Smith, the nephew of an unnamed man, and the grandson of Nana and Pop-Pop. He currently acts as the father and the son-in-law of Morty Smith from Prime Dimension and Rick Sanchez from Dimension C-137, respectively. The same goes for Beth and Summer. He acts as the father of Summer Smith from Dimension C-131 and as the husband of Beth Smith from the same dimension.
Jerry always tries to think of the best interest of the family, but his attempt to be the patriarch of the family can often be misguided by his self-centered nature. This causes him a great deal of conflict with Rick, as his father-in-law clearly has no respect for him whatsoever.
The Jerry the show currently follows hails from Dimension 5126 and was first introduced in "Mortynight Run". He was staying at the Jerryboree and was accidentally switched with Jerry Smith from Dimension C-131 before being taken home by Rick and Morty. This wouldn't be revealed until "Solaricks" when Jerry was sent back to his home dimension, before being rescued by Rick.
Appearance
He is of European-American descent. Jerry has a medium complexion and has scruffy, dirty brown hair, with slight curls. He has dimples and wears a dark green shirt, with a brown and beige stripe in the middle. He also wears light blue long pants and black shoes. Notably, he shares the exact same face with his daughter, Summer. At 5'10" (1.78 m), he is the second tallest member of the Smith-Sanchez family, behind Rick. Personality
Jerry is a loving husband & father, and one of the only empathic and sensible human characters in the show. He represents us, the very human viewers. Though because of those around him, and by comparison to other, less than ordinary characters, is commonly relegated to less than a punchline, being often viewed by other characters as an obnoxious loser, a pathetic father, and a pitiful husband. He is cinematicly directed in a way that makes us, by comparison to other characters, believe he is after his own interests and other people's acceptance, which comically leads him to make mistakes that put him in danger. Even though his relationship with his wife - Beth - is strained, he still loves her no matter what, and doesn't abandon her. This in turn, is seemingly also why Beth always choose Jerry in the end, despite the fact that they are polar opposites. His level of intelligence is both his greatest weakness (on paper), however, it also provides him with a far more happy life than the all-knowing Rick. Jerry puts great value in things that Rick topically sees as inferior, such as love, relationships, and attachments to the physical world.
Jerry tends to be meek, misguided, and sometimes cowardly in the face of most situations. He also has a habit of quitting when things get too difficult. Jerry's nature to give up in the face of adversity became problematic when he tasked a Mr. Meeseeks with helping him to improve his golf game - and upon realizing that he was bad at golf, he quit trying to pursue his goals. This could also possibly be the reason why Jerry can't get a job or can't keep a job for a long time;he always gives up halfway. In the episode "Something Ricked This Way Comes," Jerry's insecurities lead to helping his son Morty on a science project, to which he stubbornly refuses to concede that Pluto is no longer a planet. This results in him and Morty being abducted to Pluto. Once on Pluto they are greeted by King Flippy Nips and other Plutonians who hail Jerry as a 'confirmation-bias' scientist. At the end of the day, he tells them that Pluto is not a planet, after realizing his relationship to his son is more important than being "right." Despite Jerry's character flaws, he always values his family above everything else.
Despite being generally passive and weak most of the time, Jerry has the ability to channel the inner-strength to face his fears, such as directly confronting the army of Mr. Meeseeks, destroying his and Beth's Mythologs, and eradicating a bunch of Cronenbergs in Rick Potion #9 when he and his wife were being ambushed by them. Near the end of "The Rickshank Rickdemption", Jerry took a stand against Rick's toxic and controlling behavior towards the family, namely his apparent manipulation of Beth's father issues in order to live rent-free and his frequently putting his children in danger. Even still - Beth wound up defending Rick due to her abandonment issues, in hopes that he wouldn't leave her again, and filed a divorce with Jerry. They later got back together. After briefly returning to his home universe, Jerry suffered verbal abuse from his whole family only to be rescued by his surrogate one. Before departing, he decided to confront his original family by insulting them and giving them the finger as he left to embrace his life as a interdimensional traveler.
Jerry also appears to be fond for pop culture, as shown in episodes like "Ricksy Business" where he goes on a Titanic-themed honeymoon with Beth (much to her chagrin), and in "Close Rick-counters of the Rick Kind" where he collects a secret stash of R2D2 themed coins.
summer smith
Summer Smith of Dimension C-131 is the deuteragonist of Rick and Morty.
She is a member of the Smith Family and the daughter of Jerry Smith and Beth Smith/Space Beth, the older sister of Morty Smith, and the mother of Naruto Smith.
She currently acts as the older sister and the granddaughter of Morty and Rick, respectively, from the Prime Dimension and Dimension C-137. For a time, she was the only other known member of the the Smith Family to be aware of that fact.[1]
As the series has progressed, Summer became frequently involved in Rick and Morty's adventures. She and Morty often squabble and compete for Rick's affection, but also maintain a unique bond stemming from the revelation that the Morty she's with is not her original brother.
Summer is a female teenager of average height, thin build, and wide hips. She has a fair complexion, shoulder-length ginger hair, an oblong-shaped face, and a pointed nose. Her most common outfit has been a bright pink tank-top, white capri-pants, and black slip-on shoes. She usually has her hair pulled back in a ponytail. Notably, she shares the exact same face as her father, Jerry.
Her pajamas consist of a white under and pink shorts more often than a pink tank top with red and white striped sweatpants. Personality
Summer has some personality traits of a typical American teenager, as she wishes to be popular among her peers, and finds the antics of her family to be dysfunctional, though she still cares for them. She's very attached to her phone and social media, taking videos of her dog Snuffles when he became super-smart, and shuddering at the thought of her father Jerry joining Facebook.
It is revealed that Summer can be jealous of the close relationship about her grandfather Rick and her brother Morty, and she can sometimes feel ignored by her grandfather. While Rick tries to keep her at a distance, the two of them have gone on their own adventures, including on the planet Gazorpazorp. Her complex of being ignored by Rick exhibits into a connection with the Devil in "Something Ricked This Way Comes".
Although Summer is not as scientifically-minded as her grandfather Rick, she does possess intelligence. Summer is shown to be a very smart and nimble-witted teen, at least compared to rest of her family. Currently, she is not as violent as Beth was when Beth was young, but enjoys fighting alongside Rick and reacts quickly to life-or-death situations.
She is also a sociopathic and narcissistic person, like her grandfather; similar to the way that Morty responds, but only when truly pushed to his limits. Summer, however, seems more readily able to access these elements of her deeper-rooted personality when subjected to her grandfather Rick's influence for a relatively short amount of time, as seen in "Rickmancing the Stone".
She is also shown to possess a strong desire for family. Her stance towards them is best summarized in her quote from "The Wedding Squanchers", where she explains that she would rather live an isolated existence without a future if it means that the family won't have to abandon Rick, saying that she believes that, "you don't love someone in hopes of a reward". In "The Rickchurian Mortydate", she is shown to reiterate this sentiment when she freely runs away with the family to a cabin in the woods so that Beth will never have to experience her existential crisis alone.

It was small so you catch them taking them outside to make them change back, but the push you down to the grass, your loose pants fall and they rub their asses on your dick in sync, looking up at you with puppy eyes. “don’t turn us back sweetie… we’re having a good time, and it’s stressful being a parent.” one says, the other chimes in “yeah, and don’t tell rick either..”
